Americana Inn

I did not stay. The staff woman/owner would not allow me to stay. I had just been to dmv to get a replacement ID card after my wallet being stolen. She did not accept the paper document I received from dmv as sufficient for her system to accept my stay. I let her know I had no where to go, spent my last money on the hotel, was to pick up medications for my disability and that's all the documents dmv provided me. She continued to tell me that I was not able to stay, and that she could not give ne a refund at that moment but would send booking.com an approval for the refund. As I stood outside in the cold I saw her on her computer looking online at different types of ID'S on line. I found and pretty strange and off putting after she refused me then to be looking at different ID styles on the internet. Pretty much everything to be honest. I rang the bell a few times before her and her son came out and she helped me. She insisted I was being argumentative but I wasn't. I was desperately letting her know I needed the room, I paid for it and had nowhere to go in an area I wasn't from. She helped a gentleman promptly and kindly that came to the outside window where my luggage was sitting - not sure if he did anything to my luggage or it was in his way, but then she just came back to repeat herself condescending to me about how she wouldn't accept me, . I understood her and I am familiar with the nessesity and safty needs for an ID to protect a guest and I was not argumentative. However I was very disappointed and worried because I had to figure out what to do and how to be safe for the night. In reflection, multiple drivers licenses, IDs, disability documents, cell phones, email account, apple id accounts and ss identification are all in others possessions and most likly accepted everywhere, yet her system and other systems and businesses would accept them if someone else came in and even probably dont really check if identification matches how the person looks. I dont I've had and needed to replace over many ID's over the last 3-4 years after wallets being taken amongst the other important identification items i mentioned and the question that just came up for me is how is my safety personal and financial protected bycany businesses if people using my stolen id's and information(as she finally at tge very end mentioned). In any case, I will continue to file identification fraud and really hope that this all gets sorted out in my life - but in the meantime I really hope that she approved the refund as she stated she would and that I receive my money back soon. I will follow-up as well.

It is a budget motel but it has been updated somewhat. The furniture and decor were cute. It felt clean. The massage chair was a plus. We just stayed one night as it was convenient to get to the airport early in the morning. It was nice to have parking.

So, this place is way overpriced. The only reason it’s reasonable is because it is close to the airport and everything else is way higher. It served its purpose but I would not recommend it for a casual stay in the area. And, without a car, you’re pretty much stuck getting delivery. Not bad, but not great either and not worth the money

The heater didn’t work unfortunately they had also left a window open with the curtains shut so I never knew the window was open also. I stayed there once before and it was fine, but this was kind of below average.

The vintage decor of the room was unique & interesting!

The property is old but well maintained and newly renovated. Everything is in great condition and I find the eclectic decorations charming. The massage chair was such a welcomed and unexpected surprise

Bed bugs No house keeping

We were told there were no first floor rooms with 2 beds….I doubt this as the place was nearly empty. The water pressure in the shower was so low it was not usable.

At first the place is very nice and clean looking,with strange, yet interesting retro decor. However, the bathtub is broken and shower difficult to control temperature. Old cigarette burn scars everywhere including the bedding. Also sand in the bed???? TV updating signal every 5 min. You have to ring for the staff even during the day.

Room was retro. Massage chair, old style fridge, freezer, and microwave definitely made this stay fun considering we needed a cheap night to stay before a long visit to UCSF transplant center the following day. We had issues with satellite TV and massage chair at first, but manager attended to the issues promptly. Lock did not complete lock, which was concerning, but locked regardless. Towels, floor, and bed covers had ink stains. Overall, it was better than expected for what we came for. Plus, really good authentic Mexican food in the area “Los Cuates Taqueria” salsa was spicy as hell.

Could not possibly recommend more! The room was genuinely nice and well decorated with lots of character. Perfectly clean; all furnishings/ appliances/ fixtures well maintained and in good shape, and check in/ out was super easy. The front desk attendant wasnt there when i checked in at around 1am but came out and helped me within 1 min when i rang the service bell. For the price you'd be hard pressed to find anything close to as good. The best sub-$100 room you will find in the bay area, bar none.

For what it is, this is a good value, convenient, easy parking, good location, easy in and out. My complaint is the bed, hard as a rock, and in need of an upgrade. Massage chair was a nice touch but you need it after sleeping on the bed.

This is a no-frills hotel. It is clean and comfortable. I saved at least $100 by staying instead of an area Airport Hotel

Our room was a good size and clean’. Only downside is that we’re so close to SFO the overhead low flying of the planes is noisy and street travel too but it’s to be expected…..would stay again thank you staff very nice and accommodating!

This was seriously the cleanest hotel room I've ever been in. I travel a lot, so this is saying something. I was trying to stay someplace close to UCSF hospital at Mt. Zion, because I couldn't find a hotel that could guarantee parking. South San Francisco was close enough. The price on this hotel room was great, my car was parked right outside, and there was a Safeway grocery store just around the corner.

The property was unique because it was small and staff was personable. The room was clean and very adequate. We experienced an episode of domestic violence from the unit next door where the male was obviously beating the female and she screamed for someone to call police. This lasted for quite a while with them both yelling at each other.

The person signing us in was very friendly! The room was so cute with a retro decor!

We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to our room. The vintage vibe was spot on and the room was spacious and clean. The hotel over exceeded our expectations, what a fun room to stay in!!

The decor is just awesome - very Vegas. Makes you feel like you're in another world. Bed was comfy, location convenient.

Clean room. Very nice location. Walking distance to hm landing where we did our lobster trip. 2nd time in this hotel. Easy parking. You can use their microwave in their lobby . Better than nothing at all. Will book again if we will be in the area.

Kept up all night by loud electronic hum from headboard wall and beyond bright light outside front door. Light glowed around blackout drapes and under door. Bed was way too soft. Bad, disturbed sleep.

drawers were not properly cleaned, very dusty. Shower head is way too low. curtains are not closed tightly - had to use something to make sure a stranger can't see inside of a room.

A quirky, clean and likeable place close to the airport and very keenly priced. There's not much in the immediate vicinity, but as a place to stay on arrival in San Francisco, it has much to recommend it.

I found the property very well located near airport and convenient shopping. It was also very easy to get to downtown San Francisco.

I've forgotten to put DNotD sign and Housekeeping could kindly knocked, knowing that I was in. Very CLEAN! I had a massager chair in room. If I gotten#205room, I would love more privacy. All windows don't faced to the public. Little Lucca sandwich shop nearby.

Sheets were smelly and probably not washed.

The room was nice until we pulled back the sheets. They were disgusting. It was super disappointing because the room was cute. It was clear the sheets had not been changed in a while.

Room was quite charming and definitely different, room had a red theme with red phone and red refrigerator! A little noisy due to being on main drag in South San Francisco but room was overall great and staff was fantastic!

This was my 2nd instance of staying in the Americana Inn and it was as amazing as my first experience. Rooms are clean, ambience is awesome, onsite parking is free and staff is very polite and welcoming. Massage chair in-room was cherry on the top. You will never get such service in any other hotel. Overall an amazing experience and I will definitely stay here on all my next visits hereafter.

Did not actually stay. I made my reservation 3 months in advance on hotels.com and because the hotel changed ownership during this time the reservation was lost and there was no room available to stay. It was difficult to get a refund and had to book a new hotel on the spot. Only got $17 coupon as compensation for the botched reservation from hotels.com

Cute hotel but not an ideal area unless you need to stay near the airport, 35 mins to San Francisco shops and sightseeing

THEY WERE NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. WE HAD A PREPAID RESERVATION AND WHEN WE CHECKED IN THE RECEPTIONIST DID NOT GIVE US OUR ROOM. THEY GIVE AN EXCUSE TO PAY AGAIN FOR A ROOM IT WAS RESERVED AND PAID. STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO GIVE ME MY REFUND.

They had a plumbing problem and did not have a room available. They did not bother to call and let me know until I arrived at 10 PM.

Looks like nothing from the outside but I stayed in 3 rooms over the course of one month (long story) and all the beds were really comfy, each room had the funky retro decor and the massage chair. Front desk gal was always helpful.

We got room 104 it was very noisy some sort of transformer humming and popping all night long and never stopped it’s very difficult to sleep

The first night I lost my wallet and had the card I payed the with and a expired Id. We had to sleep in the car and go to dmv in the morning. He didn’t have to do that

We liked the theme and decor. Though the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The couch was cute but there was some strange substance on it. The bathroom had a used toothpaste tube on the floor. There was a cigarette burn on two layers of the blanket-looked like it was washed and then rotated. The shower curtains looked like there was some dried up exfoliating soap (or so we hope). At the end of the day, it was just a place for us to stay without the hefty price tag though we won’t be back again.

The property manager and owner Gyan has done an incredible job creating a nostalgic look and feel, that shows attention to detail. The room even included a massage chair and a 55 inch Samsung smart TV. He was friendly and very attentive, even though we had arrived at midnight.

They had a fridge microwave tv massage chair and mini patio which was nice. we only got two towels for three days and when i asked for more the man said no not right now. just a little unprofessional the way the man in charge spoke to us the whole time. overall good place just management is a little rough.

Room was clean and themed, love the red color. All the furniture and bathroom was clean. Having a free parking lot for the stay is essential for visiting the Bay Area. Was accidentally charged double for the room but was refunded extremely quickly.

Loved the nostalgic feel of our room! Especially the rotary phone, fridge, microwave, and radio! Very Americana. Room was very clean and beds were comfy. Perfect stay for worn out travelers.

Wonderful room design! Red themed, retro, with cool rugs and nice art work! Room was clean, with plenty of towels. The only drawback was the Airwick plug in cancerous fragrance. I located it, unplugged it and aired out the room.

I loved our stay at Americana Inn. The room was clean, smelled good, and provided really cute amenities (microwave, mini fridge, and radio). The staff was friendly, and parking was convenient. Its only 30 minutes away from Pier 39 and all the sites you want to see in San Francisco. There is also a target down the street and a movie theater. My husband and I loved our stay, and will go again with our kids on our next trip. I recommend this hotel for the prices and clean rooms.

There was a great massage chair. The H/Water ent out on Sat night and was back up the next day. The host did the best to remedy the Sat. night issue and did by next day. I found it very clean and worth the slight walk from Bart. The bed was very comfortable. I did not find other negative reviews accurate so I think the situation has been remedied. I plan to stay their next year.

Room looks great in the pictures but that's definitely not the whole story. Our air conditioner didn't work in the room. Also upon arriving, there were stains and blemishes all over the room like chipped doorways, browning on the toilet and tub, and just an overall feeling that the room hasn't been renovated in a very long time. Not the cleanest room either. The shower didn't have nearly enough pressure and the temperature control was tilting and twisting and was very hard to control the temperature. The bed was uncomfortable as well. Hotels.com has this place rated as an 8.0 which seems very inflated and an outright lie. Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks more to find a much better motel experience.

Our family felt totally comfortable in the room. We loved the small set of the round table that made us feel at home.
