Holiday Inn Express Springfield by IHG

This location was better than I expected. Staff was friendly and assisted with all questions about things to see in the area. Room was clean and ready earlier than i was anticipating to arrive. Fitness Center was accessible 24 hours. Everything was great.

The beds felt like I was sleeping on a box spring very hard and uncomfortable I had back pain all weekend long the carpet was dirty it was only 1 working elevator . This hotel needs updating.. it wasn’t not worth the money I spent. 👎

I didn’t not expect to have to go to the Crowne Plaza and go to the top floor to get to their pool. I was disappointed with that. Had I known that I would’ve booked the Crown Plaza

Staff was helpful in rectifying issues. Because they were I would stay here again. Breakfast was a huge variety every day. Parking was easy and access to the convening was easy.

The parking lot needs many repairs not very safe on a knee scooter or anything medical transport for that matter. Hair in the tub shower head filthy.

All HIEX are about the same. I loved the spacious rooms & the bed was comfortable. The carpets were rather dirty—at least that’s what the bottom of y feet showed.

Otherwise, I usually happily just stay with them at their house around the corner. Unfortunately, the pool was not usable for the duration of my stay. I mentioned this circumstance at the front desk just after check in and said I would have cancelled had I known there would not be a pool to use, and he just said it was out of their control. That is probably true, but I was very disappointed and would have appreciated an offer to still cancel or have some other adjustment for the inconvenience.

Everything!!! That you have to walk to the Crowne Plaza(right next door literally) to utilize the pool… but hey for the price it’s worth it!!

Me and my husband loved the stay. The staff showed excellent hospitality and the breakfast was delicious we felt safe with the parking as well.

The property was clean and well kept. Our room was clean and as expected. The bed was a bit too firm for us. The breakfast was fantastic!

The room was very cold when we arrived (5-6P), and turning up the heat did not help any (even 4 hours later). We just had cold air blowing out, and yes we know how to use a thermostat. Staff we stand-offish and not that friendly.

Comfortable room, quiet and clean. Great breakfast. The 2 front desk staff members I encountered (day and night) were not friendly; both seemed annoyed to have to work but otherwise a great stay. Would've given 5 stars if not for the rude staff.

I realize that I left the property early in the morning, but I could see little or no attention to the parking area or entry covered with snow and some ice.

The hotel advertised a pool, the pool was far away in another building and we would have had to walk through a convention center to get there AND there was an event going on so that would have been uncomfortable to walk through in a swimming suit. We picked a hotel with a pool so we could take our grands swimming. It should say located in another building.

Check in Requested room AWAY from elevators. Response from hotel said request would be honored however, our room was right by the elevators. Bed uncomfortable. Side doors didn't always close. Have stayed at numerous of this chain hotel before and was completely satisfied. We expected the same for this hotel and was disappointed.

Location Parking lot in disrepair and has been for a long while. Hose to shower needs replaced and was leaking.

Needed a better place to sit outside. I didn't see any options for tours to attractions.

The elevator was broke when we arrived and took most of the night before it was fixed. The getting to the pool to use it and how you had to go about it.

Check in was easy and the room was Clean and had everything we needed. The hotel was extremely busy due to a wrestling tournament and the staff handled it wonderfully. A little bit more attention to detail could be paid to the cleanliness of the room.

It was a "port in the storm." Nice place for my one night stay. Lots of amenities near by...food, shopping, gas, movie theater.

The room was nice, used the store for dinner, breakfast was wonderful. Enjoyed a long hot bath after crazy day of driving in the rain and snow.

Check in was fine, very friendly and helpful staff. Did not sleep well due to the mattresses being so uncomfortable, as well as the excessive noise coming from the air conditioning system from the hotel next door.

One of the best hotels to spend the night at. Plenty of parking available. Rooms are always pristine and stocked with Dove toiletries. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Breakfast has a large assortment of food for everyone’s palate. I’m never disappointed during my stays here and will continue coming back.

Housekeeping did not do an impressive job straightening up our room. The bed was not made well. They did not replenish the coffee or cups.

Worked out well for traveling with elderly parents. The accessible accomodations satisfied their needs well.

I knew we would be checking in very late (after midnight) and I tried to call the hotel all day to confirm that. No one answered, and the recording had me on a loop, sending me back to the operator who never answered. I was nervous that we would be marked as “no shows”, but the young man checking us in at 1:00 a.m. was very helpful and there were no problems. Thank you!

Excellent place to stay!! We arrived super late on a Saturday night and were helped quickly. The man working had just ok customer service but was sufficient at checking us in. The parking lot was huge and looked great for oversized vehicles and trailers! Our room was clean and temperature perfect. The bathroom was super clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel was quiet. Complimentary breakfast was fantastic!! There was an employee constantly making sure everything was full and tidy. They offered eggs(scrambled & omelette), sausage, bacon, potatoes, biscuits/gravy, oatmeal, big cinnamon rolls, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, toast, pastries, juices & coffee. The hotel is easily accessible from the highway and felt very safe. I would 100% stay here again if back in the area. The price was fair and less expensive than some lower quality hotels. Definitely recommend.

Hotel advertises they have a pool and restaurant/bar but what they don’t tell you is you have to go to another hotel on the property to get to said amenities. Hotel was decently clean however housekeeping was anxious to turn the room over. Was woken up at 8, 9, and 10 by knocks at the door, even though check out is 11. Nothing to put on the door to say Do Not Disturb.

It's a beautiful hotel with a good breakfast and good location. Our only complaint is the lobby and halls were freezing and the internet was terrible. It kept kicking us out and going back to the log in page no matter what device we tried.

Returned to the hotel on Saturday, the elevators were not working and staff did not let us know (sign posted on elevator door) and we had to walk back to the front and ask where the stairs were located ☹️

The gentleman who checked us in was very friendly and nice. Made checking a breeze. The room was clean and we had no problems with the property. However we stayed here for a concert, got back late. It was our last night away for the summer. We had housekeeping knock at our door at 8:30 in the morning! I answered and the lady said “oh I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were here.” How does a property not know who is in the room or checked out?!? To make things worse, I went back into bed to be woken up again TEN minutes later by extremely loud aggressive banging on our door. Two male housekeepers asked the same thing that the woman just did. When I said that she already asked and that I didn’t appreciate the banging on my door at 8:30 in the morning for the second time, he walked away from me without saying anything even sorry to go to the next room. My day off was ruined and I was extremely dissatisfied.

Quick and easy stay!

The hotel smelled, the room was dirty- we did not even end up staying, We went next door to the Crowne Plaza and booked a room instead. I believe my daughter left her tablet in the lobby when we checked in, and the staff were very unhelpful in trying to locate it. I assume it got stolen, but did not even pretend to try to help when I called just 5 mins after leaving to ask about it.

A little run down

The pool was closed for maintenance. That is not acceptable for a family traveling with small children when we specifically choose to stay at a hotel with a pool for entertainment.

The night was fine until we started to shower. The tub would not drain I called the front desk she said she would call maintenance to come straight down. I told her we needed to get on the road. An hour and a half later we checked out the tub was still stopped up but had drained some. I checked out and the response was “Sorry this happened.”

The location of the property was great. There were restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive.

Better than expected. I stay at the Crowne 3 times a year, and I’d rather stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast was typical but good. The Crowne is twice the price and the rooms are beat up.

Average aging property. Front desk staff not overly friendly or helpful. Cleaning staff very nice and tried to get to our room everyday.

The only thing that was difficult was in getting to the restaurant. We had to go outside to another motel and it was a long way for me.

Don’t normally give a bad review but really disappointed in this stay. The booking said would be $40 for a pet but charged $75. When showed the booking said 3rd party and will inform management but still charged the full $75. Not sure how they get away with this!!! Coffee area and breakfast was very low stock and areas dirty. No milk or spoons. Waited 20 mins to replenish. We were at breakfast for 9am and nothing left. Staff were friendly but the hotel was a disgrace. Second visit to a holiday inn express in the past few months and both have a huge disappointment. Will definitely not return.

This is an older hotel trying to look new. Pics don’t tell you there is a massive Crown Plaza on the backside of the Holiday Inn. Rooms updated but not done well, just sloppy retrofit work. Breakfast was low grade. Not a terrible hotel, just know it’s not the Ritz.

The stay was good. The location was perfect for the event we were attending. And plenty of dinning options close by. The person that checked us in was very nice and attentive. The rest of the staff were ok.

Bed , pillows, etc. very comfortable. Slept very well. Bathroom very clean and functional -- good hot water upon demand. Nice linens. Staff at the desk were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast (s =2) were both very good - hot, tasty, nice number of things to choose from, and staff kept the fresh food coming.

Housekeeping staff left my room door ajar after cleaning the room. There was no staff on the floor at the time so it was not due to a staffer coming back in a few seconds with more towels or something. Totally unacceptable

In the room the cover for the wall heater / air conditioner was held by one screw. It was the wall next to the bed and easily was pushed off the screw. Dust bunnies were on the top of the closet for hanging clothes. Toilet was very low to the ground. Could be updated to a comfort height seat. Better for older people. Strange hotel in that we never saw anyone in the lobby or elevators. Ok forth3 money but wouldn’t stay there again,

I really appreciated the staff. Chris was very helpful and friendly. It was easy to get food delivered and order rides to the area Antique malls. I will be planning another trip to Springfield and will be staying here again.

Staff and people are friendly. They are very accommodating to what you need and take care of things if any issue comes up.

Closeness to event at Crowne Plaza next door

It was close to the event we were attending. Anthony was great at check in and made sure to check on us and make sure the rooms were up to standard which they were. The only thing was that the hallway we were in reeked of pot which I assume was coming from another guest room. The beds weren’t that comfortable but other than that, it was a good stay.

Magically all 3 of my cards for incidentals were declined (even though i paid for the room a day prior with one of them, and paid for gas and groceries 20 minutes prior), but was assured it was impossible that it was their system. Walked over to the Crowne Plaza and my card magically worked there. Weird.

The rooms were nice but The floors in the room were not very clean but the breakfast was good, everyone was friendly.

Comfortable bed. Good breakfast offerings that included numerous different bottles of hot sauce. Also a good selection of creamer options (including flavored coffees) for the self-serve coffee near the breakfast room.

Not too bad but there's other better locations of HolidaysInn elsewhere Springfield il in general is nothing special of a town I find this town kinda boring

Carpet in our room was dirty. They do got to give me a key to go across to the pool at the plaza, so I had to go back to customer service and get one. Hot tub is closed at the pool. Wall paper is peeling all over the facility. Breakfast was just so-so. We stayed 2 years ago and it seemed much better then.

We spent one night and the man at the desk was wonderful! The room was very nice and quiet. The breakfast was good with a wide variety of items, and the food was fresh and well stocked. We highly recommend.

The reservation system was down in the hotel and the whole town and they could not make a room key for them at midnight and they were turned away. My husband and 8 year old son are sleeping at a rest stop. UNBELIEVABLE Hilton, we are so upset.

This property is really just overflow for the crown plaza. There's no pool. Pool is next door at crown plaza.

An update is needed in the rooms…. carpets are dirty. Charges for one small dog are excessive.

I specifically called the hotel prior to booking to make sure the spa/jacuzzi was working and was told that yes it is working. I got to the hotel and went to the pool to find out they lied. Not only was it shut down for maintenance, but it didn’t even have any water in it! The jacuzzi was the whole reason I picked this hotel.

I'm in Springfield often and have made this my permanent go to..had issue first stay and it got fixed IMMEDIATELY!! Staff is always friendly...property is always clean....Breakfast omg...DELICIOUS....👍👍👍👍👍

Look like trying to fix up.

The room felt damp during the entire stay. Something was up with the air conditioning. We needed up having to shut it off completely to help make the room feel less damp and to quit running non-stop. The neighbor was not the best, a guy sat outside on a chair smoking weed during his stay, right in the path of all guests.

Anthony was extremely helpful. The hotel was organized, clean, and surprisingly fresh, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean. A hotel I will gladly come back to!
