Staybridge Suites South Springfield by IHG

This hotel is disgusting. There was food all over the carpets in the hallway and elevator. Dirty paper cups and straws were in the elevator. The stool in our room was loose. There was no body wash or hand soap in the showers or by the sinks in either of our bathrooms. The main hotel men’s room was filthy. There had obviously been a leak from a while ago because the wall paper by the urinal was stained, shriveled and peeling. There was also no hand soap in that bathroom. The thermostat in our suite was half off the wall so it did t regulate the temperature correctly. I guess it is too much work for the staff to get off their phones and do a check on the cleanliness of the property. The Staybridge name has a good reputation but this one is a hole. Not even close to being worth the price we paid to stay there.

Housekeeping need some improvement's.

Tons of big, thick cobwebs everywhere, from the curtain to the wall, from the head board to the ceiling, above our heads in bed, dirty corners in the bathroom, just not clean.

We stayed here on 5/22 and were incredibly disappointed by the lack of cleanliness. The first room we were given was completely unacceptable—there were bugs in the pull-out sofa and what appeared to be blood in the doorway. Management did upgrade us to a King/Queen room after we complained, but it wasn't much better. The carpets were badly stained, and the bathroom had a strong, horrible odor of urine. We felt stuck and ended up staying. The next morning I realized the inside of the comforter was dirty too. I would not recommend staying here.

It is apparent the property is not being well maintained. We have been staying here for the past few years when we come home to visit and it has gradually declined. The room was clean enough, but not great. One of the spare pillows in the closet has small blood stains and there was small areas of brown spots on the wall near the toilet. Smudges on the vanity and mirror. Attention to detail in cleaning is lacking.

Counterperson was very helpful at check in. Dianne was her name. Breakfast was good and all staff was cheerful. Nice place to stay

The sink in 102 was stopped up and no hot water. Shower was great. Beds were clean and comfortable. Coffee pot and frig was not well cleaned

The hotel is older and could use a little modeling but it is clean, staff is great.

This place stinks, literally.

The breakfast was the best part of the stay. We checked in later Friday night around 9pm. We got checked in took the elevator up got out on 2nd floor and to the left of us as we stepped out was a huge black garbage bag in the corner with a bag of Doritos turned upside down with crumbs all over the floor and the carpet as you stepped out of the elevator has started to roll up. We got into our room and it smelled of dust and outdated. Our toilet seat was so loose it slide around. The pull out couch was stiff and hard to put in and out. We asked for extra towels, an extra blanket and sheets but could only get towels. The temperature was so hard to control you either were sweating to death or freezing. None of the outside exit doors locked and the patio door leading to and from the pool had no place to even stick a key to get back in the pool area. The cushions on the patio furniture were filled with mold along the seams. Saturday evening until Sunday at breakfast there was no ice and there are no ice machines on the floors either. The carpeting in the stairwells were stained and looked disgusting. The bed was so uncomfortable I may need a spine replacement. All in all it’s not worth what we spent for the entire weekend

Very large room for a great price! Best hotel breakfast I have ever had too, TONS of tasty options

Older building, room was in disrepair, seemed dingy, couch was torn, furniture was broken. Room could have been cleaner. Door handle lock was sticking. Free laundry was nice but most machines were broken and area was unkempt. Breakfast was good, staff was helpful and friendly. Exterior doors did not lock. Beds were old and springy, not very comfortable.

Room clean

Completely dirty WHITE sheets full of dead skin that had never been changed in TWO different rooms. Beds that were slept in (or worse) & sheets were pulled up to appear the bed was clean and made up for next person.

My room was not cleaned. Fingerprint on microwave , bed made nice and neat when pull the covers back sheets was dirty. Look like someone has slept in the bed already..

Other than that, the hotel is one that we have stayed at several times they are always nice. However, this experience was terrible.

There was a man that took all the yogurt and blueberries when we were in line. He said I love this stuff. One of the 2 tv we had in the room would not work.

Whole facility neglected. Pool closed. Room was not clean and was old. 2 Tv's did not work.

Clean room and quiet atmosphere but breakfast should begin at 7 on sundays. We Missed breakfast this morning because we had to be somewhere and couldn’t eat at the hotel.

There were dead bugs all along where the carpet meets the trim. There were dead bugs that looked a bit like roaches in the corner of the bathroom, surrounded by cob webs. The mattress on the pull-out couch was filthy. There were stains all over it. I also found a pair of rolled up socks under the ottoman in the bedroom. There was a chewed up Nerf dart in the living area. The pool was closed, but we were able to walk to the sister hotel and use the pool there. That pool was very nice. It was just very cold outside and a little inconvenient. I was very disappointed. This was our 4th year staying at this hotel. We will not be staying there again. I did call and speak to a manager. They gave me 20% of my bill back. I’m not one to typically complain, but it was really dirty and I’m not sure 20% back was enough. The staff was very nice!

I booked two suites here for 6 out of town employees Nov 15-16 and all employees complained about the room being dirty and one guest saw a roach crawling across the bathroom floor. Not pleased at all.

Clean room , The breakfast was excellent

The staff were pleasant and helped when asked. However, the hotel was a mess, we found multiple dead bugs on the carpet of the room. The metal part of the elevator had not been cleaned in a while. All of the common areas were dirty. The exception is the breakfast area which was quite clean. The food variety was quite good. I would have liked to see more whole food options. Over all it was a good stay.

Why?

We requested a transfer to a different room because the first one smelled like mildew. Second Room had a leak in the ceiling that dripped onto the bed and neither room was equipped with bedding for pullout couch. The door to the bathroom in the second room wouldn’t shut all the way bec it was cut incorrectly or something. And the door to the one bedroom made a loud noise when opened or closed bec it did not fit correctly into the doorway. The breakfast buffet has several fruit flies everywhere.

Our room was old and dirty, The mattress was awful and the pillow was as thin as paper. The toilet did not work. The hallways smelled of marijuana. They allowed dogs and cats to stay. The staff was so lazy. Most of the time they were outside smoking.

On our last morning at 8:30am while we were still in bed someone tried to get in our room, they knocked used a key, but we had top latch hooked & by the time I got up they were gone. Not sure about who it was that early before our checkout.

Very nice hotel to stay at while spending a week with the whole family. Love the double room suites and kitchen area. Very nice to stay!

Toliet slow to flush. Changed me to a new room still not clean. The Refrigerator was not clean.

It was perfect and would stay there again.

There was food in the fridge. The fridge was very dirty. The beds were uncomfortable. Our curtains were unable to close completely so the family on the basketball court could see right into the bedroom. Carpets had large stains, multiple.

In all fairness, we did not say anything about the moisture in the room, thinking it was because of the high humidity. It wasn’t until the last day did my husband walk through the very wet carpet. We were given a 6% refund.

Dirty sofa, greasy headboard, bulb in lamp not working, light switches not working. It was ok but could be better kept.

Lobe the mini suites with kitchen large enough to entertain. And tap beer in lobby. Hotel could use some updates to be cleaner. But all in all would def stay again

Our sheets were dirty and crumbs were all over the bed. We paid through Expedia and then we were charged again though the hotel. I’ve been going back and forth with the hotel and my credit card trying to get refunded the double pay amount.

At check in, they had my reservation but not my room. Took quite a while for clerk to resolve, during which time he communicated nothing. I had to ask what the problem was. Room definitely showed age of hotel. Couch sagged and was very uncomfortable, no USB ports for charging devices, limited selection of TV channels, no kleenex provided in room. Room was EXTREMELY noisy - hotel should post a quiet time (ex. 11pm-6am). Bedroom was extremely tight - very little space at corner of bed to squeeze through to the bathroom. $700 for 3 uncomfortable nights definitely NOT worth it!

Remote didn’t work very well.

Clean, well stocked kitchen unit with comfy bed, pillow selections, sofa/lounge and desk. Smoke free facility. Friendly staff. Great breakfast serving eggs, biscuits & gravy, multiple fresh berries plus melon, yogurt, red velvet & regular waffles, cooked oatmeal, fresh spinach, tomatoes, cheese etc. Coffee available 24/7 with multiple creamers and flavorings, even a “self-pour” beer option. Basketball court, outdoor gas grills and gas fire pit with multiple tables available. A great place to make your home away from home while visiting the Springfield area. Will def pin this place for return trips.

Great service at front desk

I think overall it was great! My only complain was there was no smart tv so you couldn’t stream any services. Really other than that it was great!

Only big thing with us was the sink didn't drain due to garbage disposal was broken. Also no silverware holder in dishwasher. Other than that it was a good stay. It was definitely nicer and more homey than most hotels we have around here I definitely say again.

I love this property and the pool wasn’t freezing like other places

I guess it was the wrong day to check in with you basically doing a full overhaul of staff because your managers and others where not ready to use the system to check people in at a timeline fashion

Very pleasant stay.

The noise level was outrageous. Other guests were so loud that sleep was impossible. Our room was directly next to the stairway and elevator with constant stomping and loud talk. The cleanliness was ok but less than expected, stains on carpets and furniture. The bold lock on the door was loose.

The pool is also closed down. That was not mentioned on the website, nor during check-in. Which was a huge bummer because booking rooms and being able to swim is a HUGE contributing factor when deciding where to stay. However they did allow us to go across the street to a sister location and let us swim there. So wasn’t a total bust. The room was decent despite pubic hair being on the toilet when we walked in and the leaking and spitting of the water from the shower head. The inconveniences really put a damper on things but all in all, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was great! Would not book there again though.

Beds could be a little softer. Not in poor shape, but could use a refresh in the coming years.

Housekeeping was terrible had A half of roll of tissue and garbage wasn’t emptied in bathroom was pubic hairs in the garbage just nasty came time to make the let out couch well let’s just say that’s another story

Furniture is showing age. There are spots and worn fabrics. Need some updating.

Stay was great. Front desk let us check in early, room was very clean, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Pool area was very clean as well. We will stay here again if we are in the area.

We stayed for my daughter’s birthday. It is definitely an older facility that needs updated but it worked.

Overall, the hotel was nice and comfortable. The people at the front desk were very nice and accommodating. The pool and pool are water clean. My only real complaint is when I pulled out the couch bed, the sheets on the mattress were discusting. It looked like there was dry blood stains on them and they were discolored in places. I just folded the bed back in and we made due. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel.

Good location. Convenient to Meijer's. A bit run down. The door to the bedroom area wouldn't close completely.

Mediocre. Great having multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, would be good for long stays. Breakfast sucked and not many options for snacks. But did have kitchen with stove top! Beds are very firm, pillows are nice

Check in was easy, room was clean, bed was very comfortable. Area was commercial, Menards, lots of car dealers…. Easy access, perfect for my purposes.

Nice hotel just needs some room maintenance. Our suite had air conditioner that leaked in the bedroom so the carpet was soaked the entire week we were there. Also the bathroom had no vent to get rid of steam. A dehumidifier is definitely needed as the room felt "wet" the entire time. Otherwise breakfast was decent, and staff were nice, quirky, but nice. Morning we checked out there was literally a guy at the front desk sound asleep and snoring!!

The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel was clean. We enjoyed our stay, the hotel is a close to everything. I will be staying here again on my next trip to Springfield.

Good stay overall. The front desk associates were helpful and courteous. The room was clean and it was as described. The hotel could use some updates as you can tell it’s starting to get a little older but again, overall it was good.

Stay was good ,but instead of just charging the hold on my credit card they made 3 charges. Room was already paid for on expedia. Hotel charged my card $140 and $89.95 and the $ 50 dollar hold . I call them and they said it was a mistake, and don't know when I will get my money back. Stay was the 24th. They charged on the 27th and 28th. Still don't have my money.

Bomb threat/fire alarm during breakfast. 2 more fire alarms that day. Barely able to gather our stuff to leave.

The breakfast needs some improvement on better food

We stayed here for one night and were very pleased. Very friendly staff, clean comfortable, easy access and the breakfast spread was fantastic!! Fresh cut strawberries and raspberries along with other fruit and yogurt bar snd waffles, eggs, bacon …. Best breakfast buffet ever!!A

Expensive for what you get

We had an amazing trip at Staybridge Suites Springfield! The 2 bedroom suite was very clean and very spacious for our family of 4. The added bonus was we didn't realize we had 2 full bathrooms, 1 off of each bedroom which was so convenient! I almost think they're doing themselves a disservice by not mentioning it in their advertisement, but it was a nice surprise anyways. Free full hot breakfast with plenty of options. I highly recommend staying here when you're in the area. We would definitely stay here again.

Checked in. They didn’t have a suite with double room so gave me room for same price with one room. Went and said I was not paying same price and within five minutes now have two bedroom suite that I was supposed to have to begin with. Seems fishy to me.

breakfast was terrible, got down there around 8:30 and there was hardly nothing left from the small selection; I was going to at least get a bowl of cereal but there were no bowls or spoons, waited 15 minutes then went out for breakfast

hide-A bed did not have sheets or a blanket, we had to go get sheets blankets weren¿t available, mattress was in very poor condition on the pullout couch, and the breakfast was very poor. People waiting in line to get food there was very little available

It’s always a pleasure to stay at StayBridge for work. Rooms are nice, breakfast is decent, and snack at happy hour is good. There could be more vegetarian choices, but overall my stay was great.

My daughter had a little Birthday Party at the hotel. The pool was nice and clean, as well as the area around the pool. We had a 2 bed-one bedroom suite. The kitchen was the perfect size, the bedroom was amazing for the girls, and the living room area was great for me. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean and the kitchen was clean. My daughter plays in competitive sports and occasionally we travel. This is probably one of the cleanest rooms we have stayed in. The guys at the front desk were very nice. I would stay there again!

Very nice place!

The bed is very firm and uncomfortable but our overall room was satisfactory. The breakfast was very nice, lots of selections and very clean. Staff was pleasant and inviting. Would stay again. Hopefully the get new mattresses in the future 😊

I would have liked to see a bigger marketplace for food. The upholstered pullout in my room was frayed, looked old.

The front desk staff was a pleasure ro work with as we checked in, and my partner wanted to confirm his room type request for the upcoming weekend. They were unable to find the reservation originally, but came to the room as soon as they found the answer.

For hotel age it was in excellent condition.

Our hotel room was 80 degrees. The excellent staff members got us a new room. It was a pain with several young kids and lots of stuff, tired, cranky.

Beds are uncomfortable, pillows are flat. Called earlier in the morning about early check in, they said it will be ready at 3pm. Arrived at 330pm and room wasnt available, I also requested a king bed suite and received a queen size. Wasnt able to move rooms. Overall experience wasnt the greatest. Overly priced compared to others around the area.

I had ants in my sons bed it was horrible!

Housekeeping brought fresh towels- but didn’t refill body wash. Pool was nice. Breakfast was unpredictable and not vegan friendly at all. Not a single dairy free item- creamer etc offered. Some food like eggs and hash browns cold. We stayed 3 nights.

I was told there would be no fragranced products in room. But the room reared of scented chemicals which gave me ASTHMA.

Hotel location good. Staff welcoming and check in very nice and helpful. Dog friendly.

Carpet in room left our bare feet black. Unfriendly breakfast area staff towards my 6 year old daughter after she broke a plate. Mess on floor in breakfast area, breakfast area staff ignored and it was still there 2 1/2 hours later when we check out.

We tried to check in early and she said no rooms were available. Suddenly 45 min later at check in time I had the option of any room on any floor. Hard to imagine that all rooms were suddenly all clean at the same time. If you don’t allow early check in just say that versus lying to me. Very irritating. Went up to the front desk several times during our stay and no one was ever at the front desk. At check out the lady working the front was sitting in the dining area eating breakfast.

The room needed numerous repairs and updates. The sofa bed was old, and torn, and frankly disgusting. One of the TV¿s did not work, the carpet was damp and sticky. Yuck !!!

Exceptional

The breakfast was nice. The Dove hygiene was great! Sorry to say but the pillowcases had mascara and smelled sweaty. The carpets looked really rough in the stairwell and the hallways. Their little "social" was nice on Wednesday evening.

Very nice facilities and friendly staff. Location of hotel not the best as it's in a semi industrial area but convenient for the highways.

They were very understaffed at check in with a crazy long line. Then the room had a very funky smell and the couch was extremely uncomfortable.

The keys for the rooms rarely worked, we had to have them re-coded multiple times as did other people we knew staying at the hotel. Our actual room was nice, spacious, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would stay here again, if COVID wasn’t a factor or the appropriate precautions were taken. As a pregnant person staying, I did not feel safe from exposure being anywhere outside of my room.

Kids were looking forward to the pool but it was closed during our stay. Otherwise nice hotel.

This was our first time at this property but we will be back! Everything was great including checking in, wonderful breakfast, nice workout facility, business center, and a good nights sleep in a quiet and comfortable room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Could not ask for anything better at any price! We had a wonderful stay!

For the price paid, I expected a better experience

We only stayed for one night. The room was clean and comfortable. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and helpful, during check-in and check-out.

Two complaints. First, the public area carpeting needs a good deep cleaning or replacement. Second, part of why we booked the hotel was the pool. Unfortunately, it was in need of repairs. However, the front desk staff did offer to see if there were openings next door. Check in was smooth & quick. Room was spacious & comfortable. Received a free upgrade. Thank you! Breakfast was good & hot. Appreciate the rotation of egg & meat. Staff was friendly & accommodating. Love there was a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator. Easily made meals in the microwave or on the cook top. Location is great for shopping, dining and Knights Action Park. Is safe.

Quiet

Still under COVID conditions. So it was expected. No pantry items, not even TV menu for channels. At $300 a night not cost effective. Bath towels texture same as bath mat. Not even close to being soft.

Unfortunately this hotel has been ran down quite considerably over the past year. Most likely due to lack of help. But it is dirty and things are falling apart. I only stayed one night in the morning I woke up and my shower didn’t work at all and the water only dribbled out of the faucet so I couldn’t even take a bath. Contacted the front desk and all they said was they were really sorry never offered to help or replace it or do anything so I had to go to work with no shower!

Upon arrival, I was waiting in the lobby for 30 minutes just to be acknowledged by the girl working the counter. After checking in, we discovered pool was closed. No shower curtain in room. Was brought a shower curtain, but had to put it up ourselves. Body wash dispenser was empty. One worker, during the evening shift was very pleasant and friendly. The rest were cold and rude. The outdoor area was nice and we enjoyed sitting by fire pit.
