Other than location, this property is just average. It is advertised as a boutique hotel, and is quite small, but, doesn't provide more personalized service than typical hotels. The toilet paper, paper towels and shampoos provided were subpar. Regarding cleanliness, this was also subpar. I know this is a beach location, but upon entering our unit, we noted sandy floors and area rug. Our white socks were filthy after walking on the floors. I am doubtful it was ever mopped. The beach view consisted of a peak of the gulf out a small kitchenette window. The decor was nice and beach themed and appeared that a remodel had been done. But, the bathroom was dirty and workmanship was shoddy. The pool area was small with not enough pool deck space for lounge chairs. Lounge chairs were available in a Sandy area outside the pool which was nice. Even though the location is good, I wouldn't stay here again.

However, our TEENS were swimming in the pool while we watched from our room and the owner came out to chastise us that they were left unsupervised. We haven’t needed help parenting for the last 13 years and don’t need it now, if we say it’s fine, then it’s fine. The micromanaging was a little much. The place needs a good deep clean and some paint, and the couch pull out wouldn’t fold down so our kid had to just sleep on the couch. There couple annoyances were not enough to say we had a bad stay and I would recommend it to anyone, but stay close to your well trained swimming children in the pool.

First room we were in the air conditioner was so loud we couldn't sleep and the sink wouldn't drain for 2 nights. Switched to a sweet gulf view and that was very nice and renovated.

Pictures are deceiving a bit. The place is dated, and the bed was so hard we pulled out the bed in the couch to be able to sleep. Julie at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

Very calming vibe and sense of community/home while staying at a hotel. Close parking, ease of access ramps, and access to amenities helped with ease. This room had limited beach/ocean view from ground floor window, a nearby gazebo, and plenty of close seating. A sense of community made it feel safe to sit around the outdoor sitting area and beach, even after dark.

Our stay at The Malloy was exactly what I was looking for. Right on the beach and they provide umbrellas and chairs you can use. The kids liked the pool once we came back from the beach. Quiet, peaceful, and the sunset! Our flight got in before check in but the staff allowed us to use all the amenities while we waited on our room.

We definitely loved this quaint little place and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed the free amenities like beach chairs and umbrella, hammocks, Adirondack chairs; and of course being right on the beach!! If we were to look for improvements, the water was never really hot, there were no spoons in the room for coffee, and a fire pit would have been a great addition.

So take into consideration I am 5’2. My feet reached the END of the bed. Yet when I went into the bathroom I was unable to see myself/use the mirror bc they placed it so high. The blinds on the window had no way to open/close or put them down so good luck sleeping in the day time with the light shining through bc they have no curtains. Only good thing was the location is right on the beach and has a pool.

We have stayed at the Molloy a few times now, our daughter attends Eckerd College. We always feel very welcomed upon arrival, it’s almost a sense of family. We stayed with our daughters for Thanksgiving and we enjoyed our room, the ability to “eat in” the grills are a lovely option for families. After a day at the beach, it’s nice to just shower and grill your dinner! It’s amazing how well they have recovered from the hurricanes. I recommend the Molloy highly.

The beds were wonderful and very comfortable and the tv worked well. There was a microwave and a refrigerator. When we arrived the fridge smelled like fish. It also was warm. We did ask for that to be fixed- and the very nice desk attendant fixed it immediately. The way they have the check in process seems logical- if you arrive after 9:00pm, they are supposed to give you a code. The doors have key pads(punch in a number). The only problem is that if they send the code to the wrong email, then don’t have any way to reach them after 9:00pm(like a phone or email or text that someone looks at occasionally) you either sleep in your car until they call you back or you get a different hotel room at 2:30am and try to sleep! The location itself is amazing, which really did make up for a lot of the bad things. I don’t think we would stay there again either way, especially for $450 a night! Of course it’s my fault for paying that due to it being spring break and all, but the shape the bathroom was in was inexcusable, even to say that it was being remodeled- it was literally rotting away.

The rooms were a bit small and dated, but they were clean and the beds were comfortable, and we spent most of our time outside anyways. There is a pool onsite, and a very large area with hammocks, grills and a pavilion. There was plenty of room for games, such as corn hole etc and the kids enjoyed all the room to run around. We had about 60 -65 people including kids and never felt crowded. The property is directly located on the beach, which is about a 200 yard sandy stroll. The Molloy provides umbrellas and beach chairs. It was cool seeing dolphins and manatee swim by and the kids enjoyed finding shells and clams. If you do not need a five star resort, and enjoy Florida for the outdoors and beaches, value hospitality and close proximity to shopping, dining and entertainment without being "in the heart of it", The Molloy is worth checking out.

Hotel was super cute & comfortable. The people who work there are wholesome & kind. I loved that there was a fridge, toaster, microwave, real plates & cups/utensils. Pool right outside with the ocean right there. Hotel provided beach chairs & umbrellas at no extra cost which was amazing. ONLY DOWNSIDE: only mirror in the room was in the bathroom & I’m 4’11 & it was placed too high that I couldn’t see myself unless I stood on top of the edge of the bathtub lol. I’ll be staying again for sure but ima have to bring my own long mirror in order to check if my outfit looks good (lol) other than that, very “homey” & relaxing.

I have been to Treasure Island 14 times and did not know about this hidden gem. We came across it on Expedia while searching for a place to stay and decided to give it a shot. It was by far our favorite place that we have stayed at and will be back again. The minute I walked in I was greeted by ya lovey women working the front desk and every other encounter with staff we had was just as pleasant. The room we stayed in was beautiful and the grounds were absolutely gorgeous. It was the perfect place and we loved every minute of our stay. Limited/inconvenient parking.. not enough spaces for the rooms they have... the pool closes at dusk... someone called the cops because we were using the grill at 9:30... paid significantly more for a remodeled room with beach view that actually didn’t have a beach view because of the trees... mold in the bathroom.. cute design for remodel.. beds are old and hard.. clearly not replaced with remodel.. bedding was clean.. everything was clean.. the lady at the front was friendly.. you can use their lawn chairs on the beach for no extra charge.. overflow parking is paid parking.. they only allow 1 car per room even though most rooms sleep up to 8 people. I really don’t feel like it was worth 180$ for one night... they have no accommodations to make the trek back from paid parking easier. With bags, and littles in tow it was no easy feat especially since they don’t even have a designated cross walk.... they don’t seem to care about the toll it takes or the risk involved crossing a busy street with small children and having to make multiple trips to the car for belongings... nothing in place to ease that part of the experience at all.. but they already have your money by the time they figure that out so they don’t care and they don’t warn you beforehand.

We were told that we would have an gulf view on the 2nd floor when we booked the reservation. Wound up in an old outdated dusty room with no view. The pipes broke in our room in the middle of the night and flooded the room. We were not helped until the morning and had to sleep in the middle of a flooded room. They did finally put us in a pool view room on the 2nd floor the next day. This was a very nice room. Do not rent the Deluxe Room! There is nothing deluxe about it! It is gross and old! The pool and closeness to the beach was great.

The Malloy reminded me of vacation spots when I was a kid. It is small and quaint. The pool is in the center courtyard and is nice and shady during certain times of day. Guests hang there beach towels on the railings outside their rooms and I saw several collections of seashells on windowsills outside. The place is old but is kept pretty clean and you can see improvements have been made to update the property. The management was friendly and allowed an early check in since we were traveling with an infant.

Our stay was exactly what we wanted. We received a warm welcome and The Molloy is a lovely, quiet, slice of paradise. We will surely return!

I was born and raised in Tampa, FL. We have been going to the beach/Gulf of Mexico from the 1960's through this year. I just found The Molloy last year and enjoyed our stay with my grandchildren immensely. Susan and Harri are so wonderful and helpful. The support staff are equally helpful and efficient. Great clean rooms, abundance of shells, honest and friendly guests, many recommendations with restaurants, yard sales or thrift shops, museums or high end boutiques. The locals know the staff at the Molloy and they know them. I have enjoyed my vacations, especially playing Marco Polo with my grandaughter, Arianna! There are those individuals who want the Ritz Carlton without paying the cost of a room. The Molloy Hotel is where you get the best bang for you money! No exceptions! Mary Ann Levine and family

This place was so weird. The location was amazing and on the beach. Our cottage had a gulf view. But the lock barely worked and it felt like there were families that lived there. It was like motel trailer park on the beach and just seemed so odd and sketchy. Different families kept going in and out of each other’s rooms so I’m not sure if it was a motel where people live year round and just rent out a few rooms. Shower was awful but bed was comfortable and sheets nice and clean.

Keep in mind that this is not a fancy resort hotel. With that in mind, the Malloy is super. The staff was friendly, the service great, the room was clean and spacious. Easy access to the beach. Pool is small but clean and easily accessible. Room includes refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker and good TV. For the price this place would be hard to beat. We'll be back.

If you're looking for an old Florida hotel this is the place for you. Window air conditioning, old tiled shower with very little water pressure, cracks in the walls. I left the lights on for fear of what was coming through those cracks. No ice anywhere unless you bring your own. Not enough parking for guests. I had to double park behind another guest staying there and then the next morning had the manager pounding on my door because the garbage truck was coming. I had just got in tge dilapidated shower only to be rudely informed that I only had about 5 minutes to move my vehicle. One step up from tent camping.

Nice older peaceful little place right on the beach. Beach is not over crowded at all. Safe area and relaxing. Staff was extremely helpful during my stay. Trolley line for transportation right near the motel.

The Molloy is an older no frills motel. If you are wanting to have an ocean front room with easy access to the beach this is nice. The rooms are dated but clean and comfortable. It has a smaller pool but serves the purpose. (we spent our time on the beach). The beach is great and not packed with people. Hari is the desk manager and she is just wonderful. Very pleasant and wanting to assure your stay is good. We would return here.

Room: staff stated they had sprayed the furniture with Febreeze. The couch and chair were wet unable to sit on it. The bed linen was dirty. Thankful i had taken pictures of the linen since i was told that they were clean. One of the staff memebers coukd care less and had the lack of care attitidue.

This was my second time staying here and I'd stay here again. The rooms have everything you need and the outdoor area is absolutely perfect. I like that it's smaller, because it's quiet and laid back. The staff is really nice and welcoming. It's convenient to restaurants too.

We arrived around 4pm, and the room yet was still not ready until 4:30. As we entered we noticed that the bed was leaning, and that the moment you laid on the bed felt like it was going to break. There was mold on the walls. And the air conditioner had black film inside the filter, like it haven’t been changed for year. Not impressed, very unorganized.

The staff are extremely friendly - the rooms are clean - the linens and towels are very clean. We had 5 star service at this 2 star hotel. Don’t expect new and shiny - these charm of this little place with its courtyard pool and beachfront location, is it’s retro vibe.
