Reviews
The hotel receives high praise for its friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness, and convenient location in a vibrant neighborhood with many dining and activity options. However, some guests find the rooms small and the lack of certain standard hotel amenities surprising, as the property is more akin to a hostel.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Rooms are small and may lack standard hotel amenities
- Property is more like a hostel, which may not meet some guests' expectations

It was great!

I was surprised by the dormitory hotel. It didn’t look great on the outside but when you walked in it reminded me of a cozy old hotel. Yet the best part was how kind and friendly the staff were. I really felt welcomed. They helped me with my luggage to the this floor as there was not an elevator, and brought it down when I was leaving. They made suggestions for local restaurants and guided me perfectly on getting the right bus and which trains to take to get to my location. I’m 75 and I felt very comfortable and slept well. Five stars for the staff. I deeply appreciated you.
- 4/5
Very nice location. Close to many restaurants and shops and a park.
- 5/5
Quite a unique hotel / hostel combination. While different from a traditional hotel, it was wonderful experience.
- 4/5
Lo que más me encanto es que tienen café 24/7. 👍
- 4/5
Mattress has noise. No hooks in bathroom.

Helpful staff, clean room and comfortable stay
- 5/5
Free coffee, full kitchen available to prepare your own food. Everything we needed was available.
- 5/5
Great location, reasonably priced. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Is all good
- 4/5
No elevator or attendants to help with luggage.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved this place. The kitchen was well stocked. The parking garage is super close as well and we love the neighborhood.
- 4/5
I was a bit concerned when we arrived at the hotel's annex on 18th St. This is a very active street with rows of bars with music etc. But as soon as we entered you could tell the place was very well maintained and our room was located on the second floor in the back and it was very quiet. Blackout shades were appreciated and a very clean renovated bathroom. A nice alternative to paying $700 at a big hotel!
- 4/5
All good. Last minute stay
- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful and it’s a great place to stay. It has laundry, a kitchen, a common area, and it’s very close to a lot of restaurants and bars
- 3/5
Nice option if on a budget. It’s sort of in between a hotel and a hostel.
- 5/5
Great place. Clean. Comfortable. Great neighborhood.
- 2.5/5
Cleanliness of the common areas
- 5/5
Clean room, very quiet despite being in a very active area, very comfortable with great access to restaurants.
- 3/5
Very basic room. Fancy dormitory and expensive.
- 1/5
and toilet are combined. Two people cannot walk comfortably in the room at the same time. There are no elevators and the 2nd floor is up 2 flights plus the flight to enter the building. The customer service staff was nice. Checkout time is 11:00am and not a minutes later free of charge. I was highly disappointed.Motel 6 is better—at least you know.
- 4/5
room was clean very quiet peaceful stay
- 5/5
yes, everything was wonderful ❤️😁😁
- 4/5
Only thing is I canceled a stay that offered check-in at 3pm and checkout at 12pm This place was late checkin and early checkout. 4pm-11am
- 4.5/5
it’s a hostel but gives out all amenities like toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, earplugs etc. friendly staff. well equipped kitchen. all day free coffee and tea. about 20 min by bus to downtown DC at night it can be noisy since many bars are around the areas. but the earplugs provided solved this issue.
- 5/5
Logistically speaking: there is a Safeway within a few blocks that’s open late. If you prefer Trader Joe’s, that’s an easy walk in the other direction. Two large refrigerator/freezers will accommodate your groceries, which you label with your name and check out date. There is a vending machine with lots of snacks. Full kitchen with pots and pans, plates, etc., dishwashers, toaster, and microwaves. Free coffee that never runs out, huge assortment of teas. Cozy seating area in kitchen around half-circle windows. A homey living room with big windows provides workspace, a comfortable couch, and a large table for playing cards and games. Bus stops on both sides of the street for whichever direction you’re going. Now the good stuff: beautiful old neighborhood with tree-lined streets. Walk out the door and head down to Kalorama park. Keep walking under canopies of trees and you will be at Rock Creek Park, a meandering pathway that makes you think you’re in a forest. The hotel and neighborhood were so splendid I honestly would have preferred to just “stay home”. The management was putting in loads of fresh flowers in the planters, and the staff absolutely could not have been nicer or more considerate!
- 4/5
I booked a private room with a queen bed. The room was quiet, clean, and though quite small it was well-appointed with everything I could want for a night's stay. The location of the property was excellent, with easy walking distance to lots of local bars and eateries, as well as very easy distance to public transportation. I had to check in very late d/t delayed flights, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They also had lockers for me to store my extra luggage for a few hours after check-out which was very helpful. the deadbolt in the door to my room did not lock, but there was a flip-able lock so I felt relatively secure. there was also a loft-like area above my bed that I could not fully see into or access, which was mildly off-putting as a woman traveling alone.
- 5/5
The hotel is a tribute to DC architecture. The staff is very accommodating. Free coffee 24 hours a day a huge perk. Safe building. Walk to everything you need. Staff recommended great places to eat. Quiet nights. 24/hr staff service. National Guard walks the neighborhood so you can walk safely at all hours. Highly recommend this place
- 5/5
The staff
- 5/5
The proximity to tourist attractions was a stand out feature.
- 5/5
It was a great economical option for me as I was attending a conference. It was within walking distance to Dupont Circle and it was basic and clean but better than average.
- 4/5
Decent, but you must know its a hostel, even though you can get your own room with the bathroom. Some rooms are with ladders to climb to second floor to you bad. Only reason to stay if you come during a super expensive week in DC.
- 5/5
Parking
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, location was great.
- 5/5
When I booked the room, I didn't realize it was also a hostel. Our private room with bath was perfect though and the location can't be beat.
- 4/5
The Staff were so incredibly helpful and pleasant!
- 4.5/5
Great place while staying in DC.
- 5/5
Loved staying here for a weekend trip! Great little hotel right near tons of local spots to go to. Felt very safe while traveling solo.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful! Room was clean and nice. Parking was available in a lot across the street. Would stay again!
- 5/5
I love it here. I enjoy the common room and the coffee area. It's close to my daughter's apartment which is also great. I love the international guests.
- 5/5
Delicious free hot coffee available 24/7, awesome location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great patio out front.
- 5/5
Kitchen and facilities were great! No car. Staff very helpful and friendly. I stayed in Annex on top floor. The room needs some a clothes rack if additional wall hooks near sinks and om walls for hanging clothes..
- 5/5
Room was good. The people at reception were good and helpful.
- 5/5
The natural light in every corner of the hotel I saw guests from old to teenagers so it tells you how peaceful it is Nothing
- 5/5
My second stay here and did not disappoint. The room was very clean. Staff, especially Julia, was very welcoming and pleasant. Great stay!
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly. I was a bit reluctant to stay in a six-bedroom at first due to privacy reasons, but there is a locker where you can place and lock your luggage. The location is great, close to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again. During my one night, i didn’t encounter anything I didn’t like.
- 4.5/5
Comfy, homey, cute No elev
- 5/5
El hotel estuvo perfecto! Limpio y acogedor
- 5/5
Amazing stay. It’s the little things that make this place perfect.
- 5/5
The entire facility was so clean, welcoming and well equipped! Absolutely in the best area possible!
- 3/5
A lot to do in the area that was walking distance. The rooms were way too small. I had no room to sit my bags down. I’m not use to the DC life, but there is no parking! I had to walk 20 mins from the closest parking garage!
- 3/5
I liked the included coffee tea and water available. The kitchen on site and other living areas than the room. The free toiletries were nice as well. I had a shared room with 5 others. I would of liked to pick which bed I had . Very top middle or bottom if possible. Maybe there was only the middle left but if that is not a feature that would of been nice. I knew I was sharing a room but had some noisy squeaky sleepers above me.
- 5/5
Great location with plenty of places to eat and drink. Easy access to downtown DC.
- 4.5/5
Services, cleani Close to Clubs and noises during late night time especially on weekends. No elevators especially for someone sick or elderly.
- 4/5

Parking was great. Just a few steps away. The neighborhood is so interesting; so many fun places to experience. I will stay there again.
- 4/5

Clean quiet room. Really great staff. Perfect location with a ton of walkable stuff to do.

Very clean and comfortable in a great location of Madams Organ 😆

I had a genuinely enjoyable stay, but the checkout experience left such a bad taste that I feel compelled to leave my first ever 1-star review. When checking out, we asked about late checkout and were clearly told: $15 for 11am–12pm, $45 for anything after 12. We specifically chose the $15 option and made sure to be at the front desk before noon. The staff processed our checkout and wished us well. I was later charged $45. When I emailed to dispute it, the hotel first claimed any late checkout was $45 — directly contradicting what we were told at the desk. When I pushed back, they acknowledged the tiered pricing but insisted we checked out at 12pm exactly. When I said we were there before noon, they suddenly "checked the system" and claimed it was 12:03pm. Most frustratingly, in a Feb 18th email, the hotel explicitly wrote that they would "honor the late checkout fee as shared during the exchange at the desk" — seemingly agreeing to the $15. When I followed up asking when to expect the adjustment, they reversed course entirely and refused the refund anyway. A $30 dispute is not the end of the world. Being lied to, given shifting stories, and then having a written commitment reversed — that is. I won't be returning.
- 5/5
The room was absolutely adorable. Small, but perfect. Loved the building! Very clean, the heat was nice and cozy. Loved the location, great places to eat, shop, safe neighborhood, staff was super friendly. Parking garage was right across the street. Price was excellent. If I go back to DC anytime soon I would DEFINITELY stay here again!!!!!!
- 5/5
Staff was super attentive and rooms were spotless, its a hostel /working space feel. Most amazing coffee, great area to lounge, truly amazing staff, friendly and easy to approach. Beds were comfortable and it truly met our budget as we were here simply to walk with the monks ( walk for peace and to support the USA, we were visiting from Canada and simply needed something clean and affordable for our ahort stay. 🙏
- 4/5
The room was clean but very small. The staff were very professional
- 5/5
My boyfriend and I shared one of the private deluxe queen rooms for Valentine’s day weekend. It was the perfect amount of space for 2 people. The room was clean and had lots of natural light. The staff were friendly and helpful. I cannot express enough how amazing the area is. Adams Morgan has so many dining options and bars. It’s also walking distance to metro stations. If you’re on a budget and don’t need unwanted space hotels usually have, this is the best option.
- 5/5
Parking is super annoying for those (like us), that aren’t used to on street or garage parking.
- 5/5
Charming. As advertised. Located in walking distance from numerous restaurants and a drugstore and grocery store. Friendly staff. Clean. Communal spirit. Has every amenity you need. Reasonable price. Will definitely return.
- 5/5
Amazing staff. Such a cute little room.
- 4/5
Rooms were clean, staff was helpful. Excellent value.

Very clean, very warm and welcoming staff. I stayed there for my birthday weekend, The Gentleman Eric helped me from the time I got there and also recommended a of local food places. I will definitely go back.

Great location and a very clean hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are on the smaller side, but they worked perfectly for me. I’d definitely stay here again next time.

Room was spotless, lots of amenities. Close to a fun neighborhood and good food.

location and staff
- 5/5
This is a very special place - affordable rates, cute and comfortable private room, great location, and a lot of nice touches like coffee / tea / fridge / meeting area in the lobby. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Amazing staff and a great room. Very cozy
- 5/5
Clean room, nice bed with excellent linen, accommodating front desk staff (Erick was very helpful), amenities were great (all toiletries) too. I stayed in a private room. I recommend staying here for all of the above reasons and the many food options in the area.
- 5/5
This place is an exceptional value. 24 hour front desk always professional friendly and helpful. Queen room with private bath clean clean clean. Very comfy bed all in lively neighborhood with restaurants cafes and bars all within a 3-5 minute walk. I cannot imagine a better value in Washington DC.
- 4/5
Room was clean and staff was amazing !
- 5/5
Good vibes, impeccable staff. I love that there is a kitchen to cook in and the amount of shops in the area is fantastic.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and a clean place.
- 5/5
Everything was ok
- 5/5
Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. Communal kitchen is well stocked. Great value for an overnight or short getaway and one of the most comfy beds I’ve slept in.
- 2/5
not happy with anything!
- 5/5
Location is great and room is very cozy
- 5/5
Amamos nossa estadia, o quarto é otimo, tudo muito limpo, e os funcionários sempre solicitos.
- 5/5
Very cute and clean stay. Would stay here again on my way through.
- 5/5
Fantastic place and very affordable, too. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
The hotel is also a hostel- we stayed in the hotel. The room is super tiny and there is a ladder to the bed. It works- but there’s no dresser or really a place to put ur stuff. Staff is super nice and all is clean but a warning-there r night clubs on both sides which play music till 3 am and u can hear the vibration in ur room.
- 4/5
Staff was cool excepr for one lady - will syay again
- 5/5
The room was immaculate, and the staff was friendly and courteous. The location is excellent with lots of reasonably-priced eateries in the neighborhood.
- 5/5
Great value.
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff, excellent location
- 5/5
clean room, good location
- 5/5
It’s located at the edge of Kalorama, with the main road connecting to Adams Morgan - a lively area with plenty of dining options. One thing to note, and the main reason I don’t always stay here, is that it’s about a 15-minute walk from the Metro. It’s not ideal, even though there are bus options and the area is quite walkable.
- 5/5
At reception, Naz was sooo helpful! She assisted us in planning our time in DC - which was challenging because the government (and all the Smithsonian museums)!were closed. But- thanks to Naz- we had a great trip!
- 5/5
Friendly staff Recommended
- 4/5
Funky but nice! Exceeded expectation and the location was perfect, close to excellent bars and restaurants. Mattress quite good, very clean...just small...it is a hostel!
- 1/5
High expectations for this place, but the staff were very unwelcoming. My plan changed so I wanted to contact them for a potential refund, but after many attempts they never replied. I had no choice but tried to stick with my original plan. When I arrived the staff just stared at me struggling with my big luggages without offering any help. The room was extremely small and not worth the money at all. Will not come back
- 5/5
Charming rooms, clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Loved the room. Me and my friend had plenty of space to get ready for a concert, it was perfect.
- 5/5
This hotel was a great deal! Awesome neighborhood surrounded by good restaurants and coffee, very walkable. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. Would stay again!
- 4/5
Loved it… but no hot water for shower. Yikes
- 4/5
Arrived a couple hours
- 4/5
The staff was very patient and polite trying to help me resolve issues that arose. The property is clean and the room was good. I was frustrated however that the water needed to run about 15 mins before getting warm, never really hot. Also the room air quality was not to my standards. However I appreciate that no matter what the concern was, any staff member I spoke to was very kind.
- 4/5
Clean retro parking tough
- 5/5
Fairly easy to get into the city via bus or metro.
- 5/5
Only thing to bear in mind is there's no lift, which is unideal - that being said, the person at the desk did offer to help with my suitcase if needed.
- 3/5
Loved saying here overall but the beds were really small. Really neat facility though!
- 5/5
Comfortable stay. Great staff. Great use of space in the room.
- 5/5
Bed was very comfortable, great location
- 5/5
everything was great except for the noise on the street until late at night
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. My room was clean and very comfortable. The location was in Adams Morgan area- great neighborhood. I’d stay at the High Road again. Definitely recommend it if you don’t mind a small room. And I’m a senior so you don’t have to be a “kid” lol to enjoy the stay.
- 4/5
This place is within walking distance of a parking garage to keep your car and near the conference center. The bed is in a loft to climb a ladder, so if you are fit and do not mind the climb, this is a very cozy place to stay.
- 4/5
Good.
- 5/5
Like Home
- 5/5
Homely environment and affordable. Varieties of restaurants. nearby
- 2/5
Would not stay again
- 4/5
Overall it’s good
- 4/5
The good? It’s clean. Secure and in one of the best neighborhoods. Go visit Ben’s chilli , tryst and all the amazing places to eat. I would say if you are an adult or anyone , maybe think about a 3 night stay as it’s way too cramped for anything else
- 5/5
The hotel was perfectly located, and easily accessible by any transportation mode. The staff are great, the handy brochures were a perfect quick grab in the lobby before heading out. The shared kitchen is fantastic, any everyone staying there respects other's property. The facility is very clean, well maintained and ideal for a short or longer stay. As a couple, who aren't backpacking students we enjoyed our stay in the private hotel-style rooms, vs the hostel style. It's simple, affordable and filled with friendly people all around.
- 5/5
Highly recommend this hotel. I am a DC resident who stayed here for a few days between leases and was honestly thrilled by the experience playing tourist in my own town. I rarely get over to AdsMo but this hotel made for a great starting point to explore the neighborhood- it's probably been nearly 10 years since my last visit and long before I appreciated neighborhoods for any reason other than the bar scene. Beautiful unseasonably warm sunny weather and Porchfest made it all the better. Room was chic and trendy in the European style. The entire bathroom was a walk in shower! Morning coffee was exceptional. Staff were nice & exceedingly friendly, genuinely curious about my stay and the experience. I think Kay checked me out? Honestly all staff working during my stay deserve accolades. I will be back for a staycation very soon. Seriously cannot recommend this hotel enough. Great price, great value, great accommodations, beautiful historic building, so many restaurants, bakeries, bars, beautiful neighborhoods, adjacence to many others (U/14th, Dupont, even Farragut/downtown is walkable)... all in all- run, don't walk, to stay here.
- 5/5
I liked the time I had there. I spent night and morning hours in the suit mostly but it was good so far in terms of the price-quality balance. Albeit the room was not very spacious it had almost everything that is necessary for the comfortable stay including little table and chair. Among the advantages: the light intensity regulation in the room, AC, hooks for clothes, different free hygiene items, water, coffee, and tea for free. Adams Morgan district is nice as well and there are tons of cool restaurants and bars. The commute to the city’ center is also convenient from here. Thus, I have good impressions!
- 5/5
Cool funky vibe to the place and area
- 5/5
Incredible stay. The property is up to date, clean, well maintained, and tasteful. Front desk is friendly, easy check-in and check out, great location. All the amenities you could need, coffee, tea, dishwasher, fridge, common area, games, washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen. We had an absolutely wonderful time would love to stay here again!
- 4/5
Parking ultra expensive.
- 5/5
Adam Morgan is cool suburb, accomodation is clean well located friendly staff would definitely recommend
- 5/5
This is one of the best places to stay.
- 4/5
Super clean, comfortable, cozy and convenient space. The only issue was the water for my morning shower was lukewarm, and never got fully hot.
- 5/5
Great location for food and easy access for mass transit (bus)!! Rome had everything you would need and was very clean!! Staff couldn’t have been nicer!! This hostel is a grade above!!
- 5/5
The people were very welcoming and helpful. It’s on the smaller side but that’s all I needed. Dorine was especially helpful and kind
- 4/5
Stay there at the
- 5/5
The only issue I had was a loud couple in the room next to me. I ultimately had to knock on their door at almost 2am and the guy immediately apologized and said they would be quiet. I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk the next morning and she apologized and said they don’t want it to get to the point where we have to knock on doors ourselves. She made a note and said the person on duty would keep an ear out when doing rounds that night. The noise was not a problem the next night. The front desk even asked me about the noise the next morning. They seemed genuinely concerned about their guests’ experience. As others have mentioned, all areas were very clean. I unfortunately didn’t have any cash on me to leave a tip for housekeeping, but they deserved one. Overall, a great experience and I would unquestionably stay here again.
- 1/5
No elevators, small rooms, very old building
- 5/5
Great find in a great neighborhood. Will definitely be back
- 5/5
Nice kitchen & shared living space, coffee, tea, etc...
- 5/5
My husband & I stayed in a private room for one night and were pleasantly surprised with how comfortable the bed and room were. The staff were friendly & helpful and we would definitely recommend!
- 4/5
It was on the outskirts of downtown.
- 4/5
On the whole, I was quite pleased with this hotel it was very affordable.
- 4/5
The High Road Hotel is in a funky area of Washington, D.C. Most of the clientele which I observed were young couples and singles. However, I enjoyed my stay as a seventy-eight-year-old man. My room was small but had all the necessities. I slept on the top bunk which I thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of restaurants are available in the neighborhood. I stopped by a Sudanese grocery store and had an interesting conversation with the owner. Public transportation by bus is nearby, but the subway stations are a little walk.
- 5/5
Really great location. Nice staff, and the check in process was quiet and easy.
- 5/5
The staff was nice and the place was quiet and clean
- 5/5
The property was clean and safe, and the room was very comfortable. The zoo is only a 15 to 20 minute walk away. The staff was very hospitable and it was a place we could meet a lot of international tourists.
- 5/5
We felt at home at "High road Hotel " they thought of everything!! Will tell everyone!!
- 5/5
This hotel is fantastically located near the local restaurants and is a 15-minute walk to either M stops or buses right outside the door. The staff is always super helpful and joyful. My private, full room is big enough if you are going to be out and about in DC. Coffee, tea, etc., always going. A communal homey room at the entrance has computers, chargers, books, etc. Also, there is a communal kitchen if you want to cook. You cannot beat the prize! Coming back!
- 4/5
No lift and luggage storage requiring the purchase of a padlock per locker were the only negatives. We had a lot of luggage and were on the second floor! Close to some good bars and restaurants, walk-able to the white house and mall attractions in around 30 minutes. Overall a great little funky hotel for a few nights in DC.
- 5/5
Very lively neighborhood, very clean, well organized and comfortable accommodations with friendly staff.
- 5/5
Super clean and friendly staff
- 5/5
Very nice and quiet hotel. Staff are friendly and the area is great with lots of food and bars right outside the hotel. The private suite was very small but still comfortable and the bed was a queen size bed. Though the room itself was small it was comfortable to stay at night as it was clean and quiet. The lockers were available to drop off luggage which we used to drop off our luggage before and after our stay. If you can bring your own lock, but you can buy locks at a vending machine for $5. They provide coffee, toiletries, and a full shared kitchen. Great stay would book again.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, we will be staying again!
- 5/5
For the price and location, I would not want to stay anywhere else.
- 5/5
The shower water took a while to get warm even though turned to maximum hot, yielded lukewarm.
- 1/5
The rooms are so small like it is for animals. I won’t advise someone to stay here. Please I would need my refunds
- 5/5
Nice stay, walkable to historical sites and government buildings. Nice tiki bar across the street as well.
- 5/5
Great little stay for my wife and I. Adams Morgan is a fun neighborhood for dining and shops and the High Road is smack dab in the middle of all the action! Highly recommend this stay.
- 5/5
Check-in was smooth. I had a private room which was a reasonable size and at the back so quiet. The bed was up against the window so if you were a couple it would require climbing over each other. Room had plenty of charging points for my gadgets. Bathroom is compact and water pressure in the shower was poor. The tea/coffee station and fridge in the common are were handy. All the staff were professional and friendly. FYI, no lift if you have mobility issues. Good location with plenty of local restaurants and bars.
- 5/5
Great place, it was exactly the same as how it was advertised & staff was so friendly
- 5/5
Gorgeous jewel box of a room in a quaint historic building in a wonderful NW DC neighborhood. Felt like Nottinghill.
- 5/5
I was on the third floor and it was quiet there; unsure how the lower floors compare. I liked it enough that I expect to stay here in the future when visiting DC. The only downside to this place is that although it's kind of close to 3 metro stops, none of them are a very easy walk if you have a lot of luggage or are otherwise not very mobile, or if it's raining hard. That said, it's a very walkable area in general and I loved having it as my home base.
- 4/5
No complaints!
- 5/5
It is located in a very convenient area
- 5/5
Amazing stay very friendly,property.
- 5/5
Great neighborhood. Quiet room. I really liked the self service aspect. Communal kitchen - coffee, tea. And access to extra towels and soap and stuff if you needed it.
- 5/5
Exceeded my expectations - super clean, nice staff, great neighborhood, and lots of amenities in the house! would definitely stay again!!

If you are on a budget, and you are looking for nice, clean, well run place to stay in oh so expensive DC, this place is definitely worth looking at. It is a hostel with shared rooms but also has small single rooms. Mine was indeed small but clean and very functional. And the price could not be beat. The place is really, really quiet in the evening and the staff are super friendly and enthusiastic. Also the neighborhood is very pretty, with a park for kids across the road and lots of fancy looking apartment buildings, but also close to restaurants and grocery stores. No problem for me wandering around in the evenings.

Good location

This is basically a youth hostel and not a hotel. I don't think this was called out in the listing clearly enough. I suppose it was fine for a youth hostel, but it's really in a different category than a hotel.

Property was clean, quaint, and very convenient for getting around the city. Will definitely stay here again!

I took three showers, total while there. First was right after i checked in. Had just gotten my haircut from my fav barber, Barrie @ Popular Cuts (my fav DC barbershop!) and the first two showers i took were luke warm/coldish. Not sure why. Maybe their infrastructure isn't up to the amount of folks staying there. Other than that, place was adorable. Would definitelymake referrals for HighRoad! Just wish i had stayed there on a Thursday. Free beers during Thursday Happy Hour! WOOT!!!!

Very well maintained with friendly staff and quiet

Only drawback was the lack of hot water. The shower never got beyond tepid.

Excellent staff!

I was there from 26 of august to sept 1. RIMA was very welcoming and explaining the area to me. Thank you RIMA.

I absolutely love this place and it is my go-to when staying in DC. The fixtures are a little worse for the wear, but it is clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful. I stayed in a private room and haven't stayed in the hostel part, but it's really nice seeing all the folks from all over the world hanging out in the common areas. Be prepared, the private rooms are TINY and you have to climb a ladder to get to the bed loft. There is a separate fold-out mattress in the "downstairs" part if you aren't in a condition for climbing. The neighborhood is LOUD, but I'm a fun way... and they have free earplugs!

Small basic rooms that are in good condition with a comfortable bed and the needed amenities.Lobby with coffee, etc adds to the convenience. Helpful friendly staff. Only problem was the safe didn’t work in one of the 2 rooms we stayed in. Also that room was too humid.

The 24/7 staff were very helpful! would definitely stay here again.

What an absolutely delightful experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the hotel was wonderful, and the common rooms were so warm and welcoming. I would suggest anyone stay here! It’s appropriate for single travelers, business travelers, and even small families. Very close to Restaurants and public transportation. And the coffee is fantastic. And I’m picky about coffee. :)

Trip with my sister to see a concert. Area was cute and close to the zoo but limited connection to public transport. This is a hostel but they do have private rooms. Newly updated, free water and coffee, nice staff who are helpful about dining and activities nearby. Lots of construction going on around the building when we were staying there but of course, this was not the fault of the property.

Unique layout. My kids loved the loft.

The staff was exceptionally accommodating friendly and helpful. I was able to meet and interact with amazing array of international residents. Although I know it is not the typical hotel, the bed was not especially comfortable, but that could be because I'm a totally disabled veteran.

Amazing staff and rooms. Hotel is located in a wonderful section of town that has a lot of dining options and activities. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Outstanding property in a great location

Loved how cozy our room was. Bed was so soft and comfy. Will come back here again.

The room was small and simple, but maintained beautifully and clean. The neighborhood was absolutely incredible. We will be returning.

The rooms are very small and the staircases (no lifts) are steep for carrying suitcases. Upon googling, I see that his place is branded more like a hostel. If I had realized that in advance I think I would have been hapier. While the place is funky, it has its perks. It is in a great walking location. It has comfy beds and the small bathroom has good lights and high-functioning showers. Perfect for youngsters or someone looking for a clean, low-cost hostel. A little surprising if you are expecting an ordinary hotel.

This was a great stay for a visit to my offspring. Great restaurants and easy to get to hiking places as well as visit the capital. The cleanliness is adequate. The staff very friendly and helpful. A lot of the guests working remotely and talking loudly was a bit annoying while others are trying to have a more peaceful meal. Overall I would recommend this place.

Check-in was easy. FYI, everyone in your party that wants a key will need to provide ID. I booked room 305 (3rd floor walk-up). I knew going into it that it was going to be small and that it would require climbing a ladder to get up to 2 of the beds. I just wasn't quite prepared for just how small and just how steep the ladder would be! My 70 year old dad slept on the lower bed. My husband, 9 year old son and I slept on the loft. Its VERY low up there! My poor husband (6ft) literally couldn't stand when he was up there! The ladder is a little scary. It only has a handle on both sides for the upper half and like i said its very steep so you really gotta heave yourself up there haha. It was super annoying if you had to use the bathroom during the night. It was like sleeping on the world's highest bunk bed. The bathroom was like a lot of European bathrooms where the toilet and the shower are all just together in one tiled room, no lip for separation. There is a shower curtain, but it doesn't really do much to keep water out. The sink to wash your hands is outside of the bathroom. If youre in your 20's this place is awesome! If you are used to regular hotels, just bite the bullet & spend the money!

After laying out the comforter to get in bed I noticed a blood stain on it. Woman at the front responded quick and brought me a new one but Then later on moving the pillows there was one with another blood mark on it.

The hotel is very comfortable, quiet, and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was more like a hostel than a standard US hotel. The room we rented was very small, but a clean and comfortable place to sleep and get ready for another day. If arriving by car, do not park in the street - even for a few minutes to check in. Parking spots are jealously guarded and policed regularly. The hotel-suggested parking garage is only a 100 yards away and reasonably priced. All in all, we are happy that we stayed here and will return when we are in DC

The staff could not have been any more accommodating. the venue was perfect and we will definitely be staying there again. We were able to leave our luggage in a locker while we ventured out. Very easy!

Bed was very firm, took 10 min to get hot water in the shower, was clean, staff very friendly, some street noise late at night but also several places to eat in walking distance

Closer to some nightlife stuff.

Very cozy clean and comfortable. I had a better nights sleep here than in many fancier (and more expensive) hotels in DC. Adams Morgan is a really cool location as well.
