Some guests also mention issues with construction noise and unavailability of balconies.
- Spacious rooms

- High costs
- Musty smell in some rooms

This hotel isn't big, but it's fantastic. The location is excellent—close to everything yet wonderfully quiet at night. The rooms are lovely, and a real plus is the rooftop pool with a great view of LA. The food is delicious, and the staff are very friendly. Maybe a small point: a handheld shower head would be handy.
- 5/5
Very good location and great facilities
- 4.5/5
The staffs are very friendly, I arrived very late, and the front desk patiently checked me in. The room is bigger than my expectation, especially for the bathroom.
- 2/5
We had three rooms reserved and two had A/C problems. Everyone had to figure out finding another room at a different hotel since they didn’t have any rooms available. Hotel should have notified us in advance so we could have figured other accommodations and stay at same hotel. I had asked for front desk to get manager to call me but no one called. Rooms are not maintained at all and have a musty smell.
- 4/5
Montrose exceeded our expectations. Rooms were good sized, clean and tastefully decorated/laid out.

Austin at the front desk was very accommodating and considerate. Noise from upstairs guests.

We didn't use the pool. The location is excellent. The room was good. The staff was very efficient. The sofa wasn't comfortable enough. Too bad you didn't take care with of the glass door in the bathroom.
- 5/5
Very clean, modern and spacious room. Overall the hotel is well maintained and perfect for families. Amazing experience Just one lady at the reception during checkout was not friendly, couldn’t even smile!
- 4.5/5
I liked the location and the service mostly though the area was very expensive. I liked also the immediate response of the staff. The sofa wasn't comfortable at all.
- 3/5
The surprise cost of parking and taxes charged at the end of my stay represented almost a 50% increase in the cost of the room. The rates advertised are false advertising.
- 0.5/5
The hotel staff were incredible and even gave us free dinner for first awful experience. I only stayed for one night and got no sleep at all. There was so much noise all night long even when I switched rooms, and then the room I switched to had a broken AC and broken outlets. When I inquired about this at the hotel they were very nice and told me they would refund me if they could but because I booked through booking.com they could not. I followed the staffs advice to inquire with booking.com about the refund and they completely disregarded me about the whole thing. The fact that the person in the room next to me after I switched rooms got her stay refunded by the staff because she booked directly through them frustrated me. Again, the staff did everything they could but booking.com refused to refund me even though the hotel was willing to and wanted to.

Room was nice. Big TVs. comfy bed and couch. Not much natural light, cuz of trees and shade around the property. Weak wifi. not good for work meetings.

Had a old school historic vibe.. food in the restaurant was excellent. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Great stay at a beautiful hotel. Service staff particularly at the restaurant are attentive. Only complaint is that the towels are stained and shower pressure is not verybstrong but other than that it was a really nice stay.
- 5/5
Good check in desk, very friendly. Had answers to every question we asked, great location. Thank you
- 5/5
Awesome atmosphere!
- 5/5
My room was clean and quiet, the bed was super comfy too! The food in the restaurant onsite was yummy with plenty of options if you are looking for something yummy when you are tired from a long day of traveling. There is a tennis court and pool onsite both open till 10pm. Happy hour onsite each day with wine provided and a yummy coffee shop for for a busy morning
- 5/5
The staff was helpful and willing to the extra mile.
- 3/5
However, I was travelling for work and there was weirdly no desk, and the rooms were dark with low ceilings. Room cleaning was on request only by 9am which seemed v odd. Would be grand for a short stay for leisure, less so for longer or for work.
- 5/5
Rooms are very spacious. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable
- 4/5
The room smelled a little mildew but was otherwise very comfortable and spacious.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay—staff were incredibly accommodating, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location is super convenient.

- 5/5
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful decor, quiet and clean.
- 5/5
Clean and welcoming
- 5/5
Loved this entire hotel!
- 3/5
A lot of hidden fees at Checkout. The fees alone for two nights ended up costing me $351 CAD, and i didn’t even use anything but parking… theres fees called urban amenities, city worker protection, and I was not aware parking was $70USD per Night.

THEIR NON-SMOKING RULE IS DRACONIAN... THAT IS REALLY THE NEGATIVE.... OH, AND THE LIGHTING IN THE ROOM IS POOR....
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel with the convenience of walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Will definitely come back again.
- 3/5
The cleaning service was terrible, the service by the pool was non existent.
- 5/5
Location was perfect. Staff is unbelievably friendly.
- 5/5

- 1/5
We were checked in by an unfriendly and grumpy front desk employee. Basically went through the rules and threw us a key. Our hotel room had a large red stain in the entry way and splatters leading up to the bathroom. Our kids joked it looked like a crime scene. We mentioned it to the front desk and nothing was done about it. We were pretty grossed out by it throughout our stay. We had also selected (and paid extra for) a room with a balcony as we like to sit out after the kids go to sleep. The balcony was just a terrace with no outdoor furniture that directly faced another building. I don’t think the hotel should be charging more for balcony rooms if the balcony has no functional use. On the positive side, the location of the hotel is great, it was quiet and most other employees were trying their best. They seemed overworked. The person checking us out took 4 phone calls in the process. There seemed to be no one else to help her during the busy checkout hour. Overall I think there are better places to stay.
- 5/5
It was great!
- 3/5
Room was dated, sheets / pillows poor condition. Fireplace didn’t work, toilet clogged, ac was dripping, neither the nightstand lights worked. We let the staff know and hopefully things get fixed.
- 5/5
Great location. Fab pool.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
Talented and friendly staff. Room service and restaurant a plus. $70 a day parking fee is shocking as that is more than a rental car normally costs per day.
- 4/5
Clean spacious room. If you like to have the balcony door open, ask for floor 3 or higher, otherwise you're on the ground floor. Hotel restaurant is average and expensive ($8 for an Americano?!). A few places to go that are walkable. Tucked in the neighborhood, so pretty quiet.
- 2/5
The hotel felt neglected and not as nice as I was led to believe from images online. The restaurant food was terrible and the service was terrible - it was hard to find anyone to help. The best thing about it was the room which was nice and spacious, but the overall hotel ammenities and quality was disappointing for the price and the review / photos online.
- 5/5
Clean Rooms, Nice amenities , Hotel in quiet neighborhood. Staff is incredible especially Victor and Angel Close to Sunset Strip Rooftop pool area has great views Will book again
- 3/5
Nice budget hotel in great location in West Hollywood. Lovely staff, clean, large rooms, but the parking was SO expensive - we stayed for three nights and our parking was more than staying an extra night
- 5/5
I stayed here for
- 5/5
It was a wonderful stay. The restaurant has a casual, eclectic feel throughout the hotel. The staff were great; friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Room was clean and very spacious. Loved it.
- 5/5
Great location. Weho Rainbow District is within easy walking distance. Competitive pricing for West Hollywood. We enjoyed the nightly happy hour. Facility is clean and in great shape. Valet parking on site is expensive (your only parking option) $65 nightly, but similar to other W. Hollywood hotels.
- 5/5
A wonderful property that’s just the right size.
- 4/5
Good location, friendly, & attentive staff! Hotel is a little run down though. We stayed on the top floor and could hear footsteps above us from the roof patio, the windows let in light (if you want darkness) and the bed was pretty stiff and seemed like a cheaper mattress.
- 5/5
We came into town for the Rose Bowl. The staff was friendly and the rooms were nice, but a little quirky. I love having a seating area in a room, and our room also had a very small kitchenette. The bathroom was through the sleeping area so it wasn’t ideal for guests, but a minor quirk. Location is fantastic and valet parking wass pretty convenient. However, parking for guests is difficult in the neighborhood an expensive at the hotel. We didn’t get to experience the rooftop amenities because of rain, but overall really loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

- 5/5
Great room- spacious and with a separate living area and fireplace!
- 5/5
Comfort and cleanliness. Just wish there would be complimentary coffee in the mornings
- 5/5

- 5/5
It is always an amazing experience staying at the Montrose.
- 5/5
Good hotel, room and amenities. Recommend it
- 5/5
The room is spotless and so luxurious! I love all of the room available. The wine reception is great as always. This is my fourth time staying her and I won't stay anywhere else but here. The staff and hotel are second to none! You can't go wrong with staying here!
- 5/5
Stayed there multiple times over the years. I will come again for sure
- 5/5
Clean, convenient, friendly staff, good bed
- 5/5
Great location, we loved staying here for a couple days with West Hollywood restaurants and bars right down the street. Rooftop pool and bar was fun. Very nice staff, very accommodating.
- 5/5
Very comfortable room.
- 5/5
Nice staff, expensive parking
- 5/5
Everything about the hotel was awesome, especially the location which is close to everything but also a little quieter.
- 5/5
Big rooms, delicious turkey sandwich at the cafe.
- 4/5
Size and cleanliness of room was great. Room was soooo dark. Bathroom lighting was good
- 4/5
Quiet, well appointed boutique property at the door step of The Strip. Rooms were comfortable although pillows could have been more substantial for my taste. Wifi access is a bit confusing and breakfast service was spotty but all in all, very nice property.
- 5/5
Property is very nice, clean and in a nice neighborhood. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. This was a perfect location for attending a concert at the Roxy Theater nearby including many restaurants in walking distance. I will stay here again!
- 5/5
It was amazing
- 5/5
We did not have breakfast in the hotel.
- 5/5
Room large,nice bathroom,helpful front desk
- 5/5
super staff. resort fee too high. room nice.
- 5/5
Lovely boutique property, well located, good amenities, including beautiful pool on roof. We had the two queen room with kitchen and lounge.
- 5/5
Experience was great. Room and view was perfect.
- 4/5
Lots of add on fees for parking etc. A bit worn out. No maid service without specific request. But friendly people, I didnt check out the pool area / rooftop. Room was large and plenty of seating.
- 2/5
having no power in the morning affected the stay and due to that i had to check out early to get breakfast somewhere else
- 5/5
Breakfast had a good variety of options.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was in a quiet area and close by to nice breakfast restaurants. Safe area to walk
- 5/5
If you’re a music fan, this is the place to stay. Beautiful rooms within walking distance from all the clubs. Just absolutely enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
This property is in a great part of LA, in between West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Our room was spacious and offered a balcony with views of both the Hollywood Hills and downtown LA. The room was large and nicely updated, although there were some items in less than perfect condition. The valet parking was expensive and sometimes cumbersome. The rooftop pool and tennis courts were a nice touch. The beds and towels were both great quality.
- 4/5
Room is gorgeous. but we were put in a slab balcony. It will be nice if we have put in a REAL BALCONY ROOM, instead of a room with a balcony but you can't actually use it :( Room 220 is the room. coffee machine is not working as well. :(
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean. The staff were courteous and very helpful. We will definitely stay here next time we visit L.A.
- 3/5
Also, power went out at 5:30 am and didn’t come back on until 1030 am and people were carrying their luggage down the stairs.
- 5/5
Maybe the good amenities are saved for less cultured people
- 5/5
so shiek
- 5/5
Loved our stay here. Complimentary happy hour were a nice touch!
- 5/5
Felt at home the moment we pulled up and were greeted by the valet/door man!
- 5/5
Amazing stay. Very clean and convenient. Very quiet hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel in perfect location. Walking distance to Sunset Boulevard and and is in a quiet neighborhood. Front desk staff was very friendly and amazing. Kitchen staff was great as well!
- 5/5
We did a tennis lesson at the rooftop, best views to play tennis. Staff was great helping with late check out since the lesson went later. Overall best hotel I’ve stayed in LA.
- 3/5
Smell is strange at first
- 5/5
A great hotel just 3 blocks from Sunset Strip, the rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The rooftop pool and bar are nice and the staff are really friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
I had such a lovely stay at this charming Beverly Hills hotel. The room felt cozy and elegant with a fireplace and a private balcony — two of my favorite touches that made it feel extra special. Service was absolutely fantastic from start to finish: warm, attentive, and professional without ever being overbearing. It’s rare to find a spot that feels both luxurious and comfortable, but this hotel strikes that balance perfectly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in the heart of Beverly Hills.
- 5/5
Everything was great!!
- 5/5
I absolutely LOVE this hotel! We stayed in a 1 Bdr balcony suite and it was WELL worth the upgrade. The hotel was on a nice quiet street. The staff was attentive but not over-bearing. The pool was amazing to relax by during the day. I’ll be staying again.
- 5/5
Great place for families to go to, not a party hotel unfortunately
- 5/5
The rooftop pool area was great as well; nice big loungers, the pool itself is very tiny but it was not busy during our stay. The rooms were very spacious, seperate living area and bedroom, large bathroom. Everything was in good condition and we had no problems. This is a great quiet little hotel if you are thinking of visiting LA. We used Montrose as our base and easily drove around or caught Lyft's where we needed to. Highly recommend this hotel for the price and what you get quality of room and quiet neighbourhood.
- 5/5
The staff made us feel we are so welcome and that they are happy to have us there. I mentioned it was our anniversary and they made sure to make our stay memorable. We appreciate everyone. Room was spacious and awesome! We would surely be back soon!
- 5/5
Wonderful stay loved the time I spent there the staff was amazing
- 5/5
ne minute" and a click as I am put on hold. The little things make a BIG difference. Just some training...along with a team who understands and enjoy displaying example after examply, daily, of great service. Again, Montrose is better than 90% of hotels. Another ladder rung up would be the attention to detail and utmost courtesy in every interaction.
- 3/5
Could not access internet. Unbelievable prices. Otherwise nice staff. Was not offered free beverage.
- 2/5
air conditioning leaked like a facet and the new room we got had terrible wifi service and had a cockroach in the bathroom
- 5/5
Great location.
- 4/5
Very nice small hotel. Friendly and ready h to help stuff. The only awkward part dress closet was in the bathroom.
- 5/5
The front desk staff person was apologetic that the hotel was fully booked so she could not offer the VIP upgrade. She offered this, so I did not have to ask. The room was great. The overnight parking at $65 seemed pricy.
- 3/5
From the reviews I expected a lot more up to date modern style room. When entering the room there was a bad smell as in old basement smell, the room furniture was out dated. I called down to the front desk to ask for room spray which took forever and had to call a second time which irritated me even more.
- 3/5
It’s a great quiet location, but the hotel itself is quite noisy. The doors are very loud when they close. And people’s voices really carry. The staff is lovely.
- 5/5
Absolutely love the rooms, the staff and the rooftop pool, bar and tennis/pickball court. View is incredible. Highly recommend hotel Montrose! Also, great safe walkable area and easy valet parking. Parking is $$$.
- 5/5
Street parking is not available.
- 4/5
The front desk ladies were great , house keeping was great, valet gentlemen was a pleasure . However the server in the restaurant was not friendly so we didn’t dine, also the barista was bothered by our request so it was a 1 and done on coffee options. The toilet paper should be of better quality , it was cheap and rough.
- 5/5
Nice rooms, quiet area,
- 4/5
The carpeting throughout the Montrose is dated, tired, and in poor taste in my opinion. The rooftop deck is excellent and a reason to stay at the Montrose, with great views of the LA area and an excellent bar. The pool is a bit small. The restaurant serves good food but has a ho-hum atmosphere. The parking at $65 per day is excessively expensive, although the valet service is quick and convenient. The room is nice, but nothing special.
- 5/5
Absolutely love coming here, the staff is always great and the hotel is a gem.
- 5/5
I like the place
- 5/5
Awesome room, friendly staff, great property, only complaint is that the pool is sized for ants
- 4/5
Great location. Very friendly staff. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. I requested housekeeping and even called to confirm and they didn't clean the room so that was a disappointment. Also $65 for parking hurts. But overall I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Rooftop pool area gorgeous view. Comfortable but i would have preferred more music.
- 5/5
The staff are very helpful and polite and have helped to make my post surgery recovery as comfortable as possible. This will likely be my choice hotel anytime I'm in the area.
- 5/5
Will definitely stay again! Well sized rooms and great location - staff was superb.
- 5/5
Great place to stay due to its proximity to all the nightlife in West Hollywood. Staff is friendly. Pool is small. Shower heads need to be replaced and there is suboptimal water pressure in the shower.
- 1/5
I checked in like a regular guest, and gave them my card for payment/incidentals/etc, get to the room and everything is fine. The next night security bangs on my door at 10:30 at night yelling that I need to come down to the front desk for payment issues. It was late and I was startled and cut my arm trying to
- 5/5
Nice hotel in a very quiet neighborhood. Walkable to Melrose or Santa Monica We Ho in about 15 minutes. Not much in the way of restaurants in the hotel and no bar area. I guess you’d call it boutique. I’d stay again, my room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean.
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff, as well as a great location in West Hollywood. Less than a 10 minute walk to all of the hot spots!
- 5/5
stayed during pride. easy walk to festival, coffee and shopping
- 5/5
Great property in a great walkable neighborhood.
- 5/5
This was one of the best hotel experiences in our lives. We truly felt like we could leave all the stress behind and allow ourselves to be pampered by the incredible staff at the Montrose. The room is beautiful and feels like a full apartment. We came to stay here after having visited Disneyland for a few days so it was the perfect place to unwind and relax for the rest of our vacation. The rooftop lounge was a great escape.
- 5/5
This hotel experience was incredible from arrival to departure. The comfort of the rooms and the rooftop pool were my favorites.
- 5/5
Always an amazing stay
- 5/5
Amazing find
- 5/5
excellent
- 5/5
Amazing! We requested our favorite room and received a lovely gift to mark our 35th wedding anniversary! We stay here twice/year and love the service and the one-bedroom residence we are so fond of. Thank you to ALL the staff! We will see you again.
- 5/5
I arrived several hours before my room was ready but the front desk was very friendly. They held my bag and gave me a key to access the elevator to the rooftop pool/bar area along with the WiFi access. I spent those hours “roughing it” poolside, enjoying the view and a wonderful lunch.
- 4/5
Nice property and nice area. our room was a little bit smelly rest was good.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Location
- 5/5
The Montrose is in a residential neighborhood in WHollywood. It is a lovely hotel in a quiet spot yet only a couple of streets from Melrose, Robertson and Sunset. The intimate roof-top pool is very relaxing. The small restaurant serves delicious food. Most guests are chill and the staff is really wonderful. This comfortably appointed hotel is one I always return to.
- 5/5
Staff were wonderful
- 5/5
Great room, great location, friendly staff
- 3/5
Smelled kinda musty but overall wasnt that bad. Bed was uncomfortable, tv hardly worked. Staff was great and very friendly. The best thing was the soap in the shower. My skin hasn’t been this soft in a long time. Overpriced for the quality in my opinion but it is Hollywood. Wouldn’t stay there again but not the worst place to stay if you need to be in that area.
- 5/5
Valets David and Edgar were so quick and professional, they had our car out to us in a snap! Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
A great hotel!!!’

- 5/5
Older hotel that has been updated nicely and would book again!
- 4/5
Nice stay for one night after a concert. Gave us a complementary room upgrade and staff was very kind and helpful. There are upcharges for absolutely everything, though.
- 5/5
Beautiful rooftop terrace
- 5/5
Excellent hotel and service. Professional staff. Great location.
- 5/5
Incredible property just a short distance from all the action. The staff are fantastic, from the minute you arrive! We were even upgraded and given a bottle of champagne as it was my boyfriend’s birthday! The team are always very happy to see you and chat, or help you with what you need. The rooftop pool is wonderful but fills up very quickly, so get there early! Wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel again.
- 5/5
Wonderful property! Walkable! Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
The Montrose was perfect, easy walking distance to restaurants on hip part of Santa Monica Blvd and the Sunset Strip.
- 5/5
Maria, the manager really took care of us when we were there and I also brought my small dog. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
My family had a great time at the Montrose Hotel

Safe place to stay. Was caught off guard by the deposit but otherwise stay was enjoyable. Loved the pool on the roof
- 5/5
great place
- 5/5
Amazing customer service at check in! Valuable info about the area, restaurants, etc. also a very nice birthday gift! Fresh fruit platter and sparkling wine!!! Thank you so much!
- 3/5
It was fine - I guess you’re paying for the area. Was NOT worth the cost.
- 5/5
cool old style Los Angeles hotel, good vibe
- 5/5
Great location, lovely room! Coffee machine in room would be a great addition or 6 am in the lobby
- 5/5
Was very nice, but had to pay for parking and couldn’t park around the building anywhere.
- 5/5
A great place in the cut - central to dining and entertainment. I was expecting property to be a little newer - very art deco in style but a little dated. However I would return in a heartbeat.
- 4/5
The hotel was a nice place to stay, located in suburban street. Parking is not an option so the pricey valet is required. The location is convenient to Sunset and other areas of Hollywood/BH
- 5/5
The suite was very well decorated, looked and smelled very clean. Large TVs in both rooms. Nice private deck. Friendly staff. Breakfast was amazing.
- 5/5
Lovely staff, clean hotel and great location. 10 min walk down to West Hollywood, yet far enough for a nice and quiet night’s rest.
- 5/5
The Montrose is an exceptionally cool boutique hotel that offers quiet, well-decorated modern rooms. There is a private small rooftop pool with comfortable lounge seating and splendid 360 views of Los Angeles and the mountains beyond, as well as a tennis court for guests. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional. Overall the experience was wonderful and I will definitely return.
- 4/5
Great spot, a little dated but awesome location
- 5/5
Montrose was an instant upgrade to our LA visit. Quiet, walkable neighborhood close to tons of dining and entertainment options. Great staff! Very sincere and actually work to be hospitable.
- 5/5
The Montrose is a little gym tucked up in the hills of West Hollywood. It’s the perfect escape for somebody. Who’s there on business who wants to feel like they’re at home. Well done.
- 4/5
Great place to stay except for the thin walls. I can hear people in the other room.
- 5/5
Nice little boutique hotel - clean rooms that are well decorated. Fantastic location. Would stay again.
