Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating its unique charm, rooftop terrace, and friendly staff. However, there are consistent complaints about the cleanliness of rooms, hidden fees, and issues with room readiness and amenities.
- Unique charm and decor
- Friendly staff and service
- Cleanliness of rooms
- Hidden fees and charges

A truly exceptional hotel with all boxes checked! Friendly staff who interact with guests. Incredible food in the rooftop restaurant. Room was comfortable and spacious. Definitely will book again next visit.

Lovely stay at the Petit Ermitage. Great location in the heart of West
- 5/5
The place is unique and very fun. Rooftop restaurant was wonderful. Great place for couples.
- 5/5
.. sexy
- 5/5
Everything was great. Location is super convenient, room is cool and the roof could not have been more fun.
- 4/5
Petit Ermitage is a fun, funky, caberet of an "experience"- tucked into a tiny street in the middle of West Hollywood, it's a weird retreat from regular life. Covered in ivy, filled with art, discreet, hushed, quirky- if you want a getaway this is the place. The carpet was kinda gross and the mini bar extended all the way through the room. It was kind of trying to be Chateau Marmont, but I've stayed at Chateau Marmont several times and Petit Ermitage is not it. The fire beds on the roof bar were fun, the service was ok. The valet was lovely. The clientele is a little Influencer/Coachella culture. Guest only restaurant is a little different. The tea service came with adorable tiny honey jars- love!
- 5/5
all good...especially JULIO and LUKE no creamers in the rooms for the coffee
- 5/5
Delightful breakfast on the pool deck in the mornings.
- 2/5
While the staff was friendly and well-intentioned, there were consistent communication issues with even basic requests, which made the stay frustrating. The property's overall condition feels run-down and poorly maintained. For the price point, I expected much better. I would not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.
- 5/5
This property is like no other in LA. It’s a French boutique hotel and transports you into the sexy vibe that the rooms and rooftop bring. The staff is amazing and the most accommodating I have ever experienced in LA. They go above and beyond to make you feel like your home.
- 2.5/5
I like that they have a bar and a pool They charge $150 if you ask for courtesy key checkout in a sunday when there is NO PPL and it's another way to milk $ from people. Huge turn off to stay there again. I checked in 11pm and asked til 12! Left a bad impression. Staff was not super warm but more like our policy too damn bad you checked in 11pm.
- 2/5
I loved my room and the amenities during my stay here, but I chose to rate the property 3 out of 5 stars because of my experience there as a person of color. I received a lot of negative interactions by both staff and guests, perceivably because of my skin tone. While other POC employees were very friendly, the intentional delays of service and derogatory comments (in both English and other languages they thought I wouldn’t understand) by white employees and fellow guests in the lobby and on the elevator would make me think think twice about choosing this venue if you are not white. Also, be wary of extra service charges added to the bill, whether you utilized room service or not.
- 5/5
Love love Petit Ermitage. Old Hollywood vibe, amazing service, great food, cocktails, and the best ambiance. Always feels like home.
- 2.5/5
We got charged for the room a second time on the property and no one is answering the phone or replying by email/message. The staff seem like they are on another planet and it’s not entertaining to me. I went to art school, this feels like they are trying too hard to be acting otherworldly.
- 4.5/5
The rooftop patio and pool were lovely areas to enjoy breakfast, lunch, drinks, etc. -- and the food was delicious! Really enjoyed the cool vibe of the hotel (decor, guests, etc.) and the room was spacious. The poolside staff service could have been better. Wait staff could have checked in more frequently to capture food and drink orders.
- 1/5
Staff was wonderful and I wanted to like this place, as I’ve heard great things. Unfortunately during my stay there was a DJ on Saturday and it turned into a wild wild party scene. People screaming and running through the halls until around 4:30am. I paid over $600 with the resort fee, $72 required valet (due to permit only street parking), taxes, and bogus mini bar charges on my bill. The rooms are dark and musty with the mattress feeling super old and droopy in the center. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
- 5/5
This hotel is amazing. The staff is always helpful and friendly. It is so conveniently located withing walking distance to bars and restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable.
- 4/5
For the most part, a good experience. The rooftop restaurant is a true jewel, with lush plant life and spectacular views of the surrounding city. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful (our waitress at the restaurant and the valet parkers deserve particular notice). But the hotel is a bit like Hollywood itself: puffed up with self-importance, somewhat ragged around the edges. You never get the feeling that you're truly valued when a guest at Petit Ermitage; you come away with the feeling that they are doing YOU a favor when answering a simple question or providing you service, rather than delivering the first-class service that the hotel's nightly price should guarantee. Oh, our room was also dark and musty. Will we be back? Unlikely.
- 2/5
I was put in a Queen room rather than the King room I had reserved. When I went to reception in the morning to alert them to the mistake I was met with a blank stare — Finally the desk clerk said he could “probably” find a king room by early afternoon. No apology, no assurance that my account would be credited…In essence, no adequate customer service.
- 2.5/5
The social club by the pool is really fun and open 24 hours, which is a great plus. The rooms are spacious, and the location is a major highlight, right in the middle of West Hollywood. The rooms are generally quite dark. I was initially happy with the room I was given, but after the first night there was a very strong smell coming from the bathroom. It was so intense that I couldn’t sleep and had to request a room change. I wasn’t expecting an upgrade, but I was moved to a noticeably worse room. No apology or compensation was offered, which was disappointing.
- 2.5/5
tech difficulty, no keys and no computer services of reception.
- 0.5/5
Definetly not worth that price
- 1/5
Horrible I checked into my hotel one hour past check-in time which I didn’t make a big deal about because the person at the front desk said that they would give me a late check out. I was not given a late check out and was met with a rude phone call from the person at the front desk demanding I leave the room. When I found other people at the hotel who confirmed that I did get a late check-in she still continued to be rude so I ended up just leaving an hour and a half before my set check in time because I just couldn’t even relax anymore very disappointed
- 4/5
Cool vibe Property is a bit dated.
- 5/5
The room was clean, the bed was amazingly comfy
- 5/5
The service at Petit Ermitage is superior. The food is amazing and ambiance beyond compare. I love this hotel.
- 4.5/5
Loved the location and the sense of whimsy you feel staying here.. the rooftop was my favorite late night escape for a night cap by the fire. The rooms were a little outdated and the hotel could use some upgrades. The addition of a spa would really make this place the perfect West Hollywood sanctuary for a little debauchery and relaxation.
- 0.5/5
Nothing Carpets were dirty, couches also, it seems that they never sanitize the carpets. It looks very very dirty. Reception told me I only had a room when I booked 2. Then at 9.30 pm when we were all sleeping they called to say I had a second bedroom. I need my refund on that. This place is expensive for what it is. Not for families. Pool is too less after 12.
- 1/5
My girlfriend and I stayed in a suite for two nights and the room was great. Between 6:00 and 7:00 am our first morning, the toilet kept us awake with very loud gurgling sounds. Around 9:00 am, my girlfriend sat on the toilet in the dark, without realizing that water and feces erupted onto the toilet seat and surrounding floor. We spoke with the general manager, Maria, who did not seem too concerned that my girlfriend sat in feces. Maria offered a food and beverage comp and was not willing to do anything more, insisting that since we booked the rooms on Expedia, this was all they could do. It’s hard to imagine a more disgusting hotel experience. We were very disappointed about the way in which the general manager treated this situation as if it was a minor inconvenience rather than a significant health hazard.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 1/5
On the first night, there was severe bass noise from an undisclosed basement club that continued until 4 am, followed by loud disturbances in the hallways until 6 am involving individuals who were later confirmed by security to not be registered hotel guests. Despite multiple calls, the issue was not resolved until nearly dawn, and I did not get meaningful sleep. The following day, I was told a room change would be arranged, but no update or plan was provided well into the evening. When I contacted Expedia to explore options, a front desk staff member escalated the situation by repeatedly calling my room and then opening my door without permission to confront me over billing while I was on the phone. There was no emergency, no prior notice, and the interaction was unnecessarily confrontational. Another male staff member was brought to my doorway, which made the situation feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I had planned to stay another night and confirmed refund for the last 2 nights of my 4 night stay, however I vacated immediately after being harassed by hotel staff. They processed a refund for my last 2 nights as discussed, but offered no remedy for the first night or second night. I had to pay for two hotels on the second night of my vacation, but was worth it to move to the Sun Rose.
- 5/5
Magical ambiance, warm staff, exceptional service from the welcome champagne and cookie to the rooftop bar, pool, and lounge/restaurant create an inviting world of its own.
- 5/5
This is one of my favorite hotels to stay at for my regular staycations. The rooftop is the perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself and definitely a place where you can feel comfortable talking with other guests. My only annoyance was the $50 corkage fee for opening and drinking the wine that came in my room, on the rooftop. I’ll definitely be checking in a few more times this year though :) Highly Recomend.

Amazing
- 5/5
Super cute hotel!
- 4/5
Super friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were nice but the sheets on the bed were a bit rough.
- 2/5
The staff is very loud, unprofessional and not trained. At one point I was sitting alone in the dining room eating my $36 salad listening to the bar manager do a loud Austin powers impersonation over and over. They were rough housing and playing in the lobby, talking loudly about their gym routines. Just the opposite of peaceful.
- 5/5

- 4/5
I loved the room, the rooftop & the exercise room. The staff was exceptional 1. My room smelled like smoke 2. There was a peloton bike, but no cages (who travels with their Peloton shoes??)
- 0.5/5
I love the property and go very often A lot was closed. Pool área so dirty still at 10am. Felt like i was crashing at a friend who threw a house party. Elevator did not work. Staff cares more about the party clients of the evening than the guests
- 5/5
The art collection of this hotel is reason alone to return! But there’s plenty of other draws: fun, friendly staff, excellent pool scene, really great dj at night, and the best bed and pillows I’ve ever experienced in a hotel.
- 2/5
Poor staff attitude

It’s a funky boutique hotel hidden in the middle of West Hollywood. The rooftop is the best part.
- 5/5
Love it here. Best of the best.
- 5/5
A very cool place to stay, so LA!
- 5/5
Just love it
- 5/5
Great location and lovely property
- 1/5
My boyfriend and I chose to celebrate his 50th birthday by booking a Grand Belle Suite. We checked in late on a Friday and from the time we valeted until the next morning was littered with unacceptable service from a hotel, especially when charging $1600 a night. We decided to leave after one night there. We were told from the staff that our patio light had to be left on bright to keep away the rats and possums. We had guests playing loud music until 5 am. We had 3 Italian men in the room next to us who were arguing
- 3/5
The pool is very much a vibe but getting a drink takes forever and they don’t honor reservations for pool beds if they’re overbooked, which is too bad because the pool is the reason to stay here.
- 2/5
Bellman / valet excellent Restaurant/service just minus ok Food way over priced just ok
- 4/5
When we went back down to alert them to the error, I found out they’d given my room to someone else!! And after blaming Expedia for the error, they weren’t terribly apologetic or helpful. My surprise was ruined…. Which really bummed me out. But they gave us a comprable room and we made the best of it. The blue room was beautiful—we loved it. And the vibe of the hotel grew on me throughout our stay. It’s kinda dated and shabby. A lot of the art isn’t good. But it’s got CHARACTER! Being there feels like a fever dream-from the crowd to the improv jazz upstairs, it’s a vibe. A totally unique experience. So in the end I was happy. But they DO need to work on a few things—the bathroom near the pool had no toilet paper or seat covers. When I’m paying over $1K per night, I expect more. The service wasn’t particularly friendly or helpful. We never knew what the WiFi was, nor did anyone tell us how to find the pool and the jazz. The place smells like an eccentric old man, and kinda feels like that too. It’s not for everyone. But if you’re looking for a romantic hidden gem and like an out-of-the-box experience, this might be it!
- 5/5
Come for a great time, eclectic tastes, good vibes.

I am a native angeleno. I had to leave my home for some maintenance and stay at a hotel. Had heard wonders about here but it may have been the bar / lounge. It’s incredibly over priced for the quality. Building is old, beds are uncomfortable. Room View is null. You get tacked with excess feed that should be included in your booking. It’s not worth the hype. It’s not the four seasons. If you’re looking for a bar with great drinks and food and incredibly friendly service, sure. Other than this, the room is ok. The bathroom and bathroom amenities are great. Only exception is the tub/ water leakage if you’re not cautious. You have to be familiar with tubs / showers like this. Luckily, this is my setup at home. If you aren’t used to it, you can spill water everywhere. I’d say the price overall should reflect the space & hotel itself. Phone has loads of issues. You’ll have to call the front desk numerous times before getting an answer and the pilot in the fire place is tricky. It makes you think it’s not functioning properly and you’re inhaling Carbon monoxide lol ( odorless/ colorless). Again, view from my room was underwhelming but the views in this area of Hollywood aren’t something spectacular either. If you want some entertainment from your room, the tv has issues. But you could look out the window and watch someone fail miserably at parking / exiting the gravel covered space. Glad I was only in for a night. More than that is too much.
- 5/5
Entertaining good energy and vibe
- 4/5
The property is very nice, offering a bohemian hotel vibe. It’s laid-back and relaxing with a vibrant pool. The service is quite mixed: some staff members go above and beyond, striving to anticipate your every need, while others try to upsell aggressively and can be extremely rude, requiring you to request a manager. This contrast—where every guest feels both welcomed and occasionally mishandled—creates a unique experience. However, most of the staff are friendly
- 5/5
A unique stay. One of a kind luxury property
- 5/5
Beautiful, charming and intimate hotel in WeHo. Love the rooftop pool and the vibes of the entire staff. Highly recommend.

Great place
- 5/5
cool and amazing service
- 5/5
I have visited this property on occasion but never have I stayed here. In short, I really enjoyed it and would stay here again. In past reviews, some people have complained of the noise. But, I experienced the exact opposite. It was quiet and comfortable. Yes, the rooms could use some upgrading, but nothing big. The service was top notch, and the food and drinks were excellent. The rooftop lounge was fantastic. Set in a quiet neighborhood, but close to neighborhood restaurants was nice.
- 5/5
My favorite place to stay in LA
- 5/5
Great experience- fab rooftop and entertainment
- 5/5
absolutely beautiful property, so unique and every detail feels deliberate. came here with my sisters for a bachelorette, we stayed in the belle jour room and it was truly perfect! great, quiet WeHo location close to the action without being rowdy. we’ll be back!

- 5/5
Solid property, great area. Rooms could be updated but it's charming nonetheless.
- 3/5
My room wasn't ready when i arrived. Then I was charged $50 for an upgrade. The charge port for my phone was broken. I couldn't stream and someone came in to fix it and never came back. There was 3 lovely guest service people that tried their best. This AM when I asked for a late check out because I was exhausted from not sleeping due to discomfort. And suggested by the 3 kind guest services. The person I spoke to denied my request and unprofessionally told me that she was going to write up the lovely, wonderful woman who suggested I ask for a late check out. Over all the staff is sweet but whoever I spoke with this AM should NOT work is hospitality. She even threatened to charge me if I was a couple minutes late. HORRENDOUS.
- 5/5
Le Petit Ermitage is unique because of the roof terrace with heaters and views of Los Angeles at night, with live blues singers
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel in a great area. Amazing roof top
- 2/5
Imagine spending over 500.00 on a hotel room with only valet parking that costs 60 Dollars?
- 5/5
Couldn’t have selected a better place to stay in West Hollywood
- 4/5
Nice place, like a very adult Disney hotel, highly themed and carefully curated, reminded me of the hollywood tower of terror ... in a good way. Room was nice, bed was comfortable, shower was 10/10. In room breakfast was very good but the plates were not hot which meant it got cold pretty quick. We had just arrived from the UK so were quite jet lagged and waking up early. There was generally people still partying from the night before so the pool deck was not the cleanest when we used it *around 6am. I did see someone come out to clean up just as i headed back to my room about 6 30ish. In room Keurig but no milk was a bit annoying. It was nice, i think if i hadn't heen so jet lagged i would have enjoyed it more.
- 4/5
Horrible mattresses!
- 5/5
It was amazing!
- 5/5
Amazing
- 3/5
The weekend staff was terrific, Monday's front desk clerk needs to be less condescending and more helpful. The rooms are definitely cute, but the lighting is inadequate given the floor elevations and floor covering transitions. The bed was far from comfortable. Also, be advised that there is a $43 AMUSEMENT FARE added to every bill that supposedly is a hidden Los Angeles City Tax that is on top of the already steep $57 we were charged for Taxes & Fees and yet another line of $49.75 RESORT FEE (Can You Say RIPOFF). Won't be going back here anymore as there are some beautiful properties nearby that have a higher room rate, but lower overall cost...
- 5/5
Excellent staff and property. Made my stay great
- 1/5
This was awful. The garbage was still in the room, the carpets were filthy. It was as if we entered someone else's room.
- 1/5
Terrible. I have stayed here for over 10 years and the rooms have never been updated. Usually it’s worth it for the pool and garden cafe on the room but I was not told roof was under renovation as well as the gym and still paid over $1100 for 2 nights. Never again. Hotels.com messages were never returned. Terrible service from both sides.
- 1/5
Discriminatory staff turn a blind eye to illegal and uncomfortable activity happening on their rooftop (for example, a guy on dr*gs trying to jump off the roof, etc) to the detriment of the actual paying guests who either are told there’s nothing that could be done about the noise and disturbances or, as in our case, are targeted by staff for not being the typical individual they seem to want to attract. We will be reporting on this further as I believe the hotel is an unsafe space.
- 5/5
The hotel is beautifully decorated and maintained. The desk clerk, host and valet staff we encountered were thoughtful, kind, and welcoming. We loved all the tiny details along the way. Our room was wonderful with a sitting room and fire place we didn’t get a chance to use. The bath, shower and bed were absolutely wonderful. So comfortable as well as luxurious. The bed felt like a dream, the shower water pressure was fantastic. We can’t wait for another excuse to stay here again.
- 5/5
The vibe is great at this hotel- especially if you’re from the east coast.
- 5/5
My wife and I spent the night here in celebration of our 32nd Valentine’s Day together. Thank you for the ambiance and hospitality for us to ensure we stay together for another 32 years. We’ll be back soon to celebrate our anniversary in the summer.

A beautiful hotel with a fabulous rooftop. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. Great room service. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Beautiful art and gorgeous rooftop pool and restaurant
- 5/5
Delightful stay as always. From the cookies at checkin to the delightful whimsy in each room, the perfect retreat. The 24 hour pool? Amazing. And the food is fantastic. Will definitely be back!
- 5/5
The atmosphere is amazing here I highly recommend staying on a Sunday night to enjoy the Jazz music and rooftop.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel !
- 4/5
Superb staff, hotel is within walking distance from restaurants and shops and a short driving distance from many interesting points. Great hotel but definitely not for families with children. Expedia needs to update its listing Asap where it says children are welcome because children are not allowed in the pool after 12pm so makes it difficult for a family to enjoy the property grounds. Booked through expedia and expedia did not help me with this situation but hotel staff did.
- 2/5
Not a choice I would make again
- 3/5
The property is beautiful and quite unique. I was very excited when I walked up. My issue is when I got my final bill after check out. There was a $35 resort fee. When I asked what that was for I was told it was for the cookies and champagne offered at check in? They in fact were nOt offered or available or anywhere to be seen. It was also for the yoga, pool and some private guest thing . I was never told about yoga nor was there any information in the room to tell me of these things. I don't know, if you're going to charge someone something and not actually follow through or inform them of it, I think...well, I think I'll just go elsewhere. Unfortunate, as I travel to L.A. monthly and thought this my be my new place.
- 2/5
Very pushy on checking in got email, text to do precheck in -and got there at 4:30 and my room was not ready, made reservations for pool bed and they got all wrong even though I received 2 calls from a lady confirming and confirming I was coming in which I have told already and more on check out called, texts, emails, knock on the door since 8:30 am not even 10:30 am when check out is at 11 am. Super annoying!
- 5/5
Such a unique and thriving place, good staff great rooftop everything was excellent
- 5/5
Unexpected jewel hidden in a quiet residential area yet just steps away from everything. It felt like being in a grand European apartment. The most gracious staff and a property oozing with curated charm. Breathtaking rooftop pool which instantly transports you to the south of France in the middle of West Hollywood. Large suites with uber comfortable beds, fine linens and well thought out amenities. Short but memorable visit. Highly recommend as an oasis to escape the ordinary.
- 5/5
The lounging "seats" around the pool at night are a wonderful way of sharing the end of the day with a loved one...
- 5/5
Wonderful welcome and unique boutique hotel!

Such a vibe to be cherished! From check in to check out this experience was one I will always appreciate and never forget.

- 5/5
This unique hotel is a must stay if you want an experience rather than just a nice hotel room. The rooftop is awesome and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a great time.
- 5/5
Excellent stay. Wonderful attentive staff. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
Generally as advertised, hard to beat the location! Great staff.
- 4/5
This has been my fave bohemian hotel for years but I have to say that it is losing some of its individual specialness whilst charging more. There was a huge group staying there and giving talks at breakfast, lines at 4 at check-in and a lovely but an overwhelmed feeling staff. I will miss staying there.
- 5/5
Coffee was awesome!
- 5/5
this was our first time back to Petit Ermitage (since covid) and it did not disappoint. Same outstanding service, amazing rooftop pool (open 24 hours). Would be tough to find a place to match the bohemian, ultra cool style of his hotel
- 3/5
The rooftop pool, restaurant, fire pit area was great! Service was good. The room was disappointing. Shabby and dirty.
- 1/5
Rude front desk staff, wifi does not work properly in the room, AC was broken and no one bothered to fix it and I had to call more than 4 times. Horrible experience

the bed sheets was not as clean as expected and the room AC was not working properly and it was so hot in the room! but the rest is good.
