Friendly Hills Inn - Whittier, Los Angeles

We checked in around 1030pm. Room was hot, floor uneven so dresser drawers stay slid open unless you wedge something to keep them closed. There was a problem with the plumbing; front desk asked me to give it ten minutes and call them back. Staff came to the room beginning at midnight (1 child already asleep and up until this point still no one could use the restroom) and began trying to fix the plumbing. By 1235 am, we were offered keys to a room 2 doors down to utilize the restroom. By the time we moved ( and turned the air on in the new room to begin cooling) it was after 1am. While plumbing was fine in the new room, multiple fixtures were broken/ missing. I did let staff know at check out (eg. toilet paper holder broken and hanging from wall) and staff said they were aware of the broken items. Too many mishaps and did not appreciate how things were handled. Would not stay here again.

Maid service was almost nonexistent, even when hung maid service requested on door.

I liked the location of the property as it was near a lot of restaurants and different places to eat in Cerro groceries. But it was poorly maintained and I know it was an older property so it doesn't have to look perfect however cleanliness should never be skipped and the front door was very dirty something that could easily be remedied by the cleaning staff. The walls were smudged with dirt, again something that could easily be cleaned by the cleaning staff and there was a huge hole in the wall of the bathroom where the doorknob had knocked into it. They haven't even bothered to cover it up and as we all know bugs live inside the walls so I was fearful all night that they would be bugs in the room. Thankfully the bed was clean and I did check under the mattress because seeing how this place was cleaned I wondered if the bed would be clean and thankfully it was. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to anyone who could do a little bit better. $160 definitely not worth it for this property. If you can get it for under $80 then you're okay

I stayed here for 1 night. Woke up with bed bugs crawling on me the worst experience ever… didn’t have the common decency to say hey I’m sorry here is your money back…. At hotel is supposed to provide safe a clean living conditions and they failed miserably

Double room was surprisingly spacious, more than typical for hotel rooms. Modern furniture and decor, but some wear and tear already. Relatively new bedding and linens. Comfortable, well lit, quiet, smoke-free room. Good value for our family of 4 with elementary school aged kids. A notch above a typical Comfort/Days Inn in terms of room quality. Only issue was a loose toilet paper holder.

The Rooms smells of mold/old water/musk smell, stains in the bed and towels, every towel even the new ones we asked for was stained we also asked for new bedding and it also was stained with either oil or something sticky it was gross i planned a trip for 2 nights only stayed the one left ASAP (because it was late) they dont offer refunds if booked trough hotels.com or some other 3rd party site so beware. ** DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL PLEASE STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE WITH A NAME BRAND**.

The building was quiet and located in a nice area. There was some food and a convenience store in very short walking distance. Cell service wasn’t great but they have WiFi good enough for uninterrupted streaming.

The first room I was in the AC didn't work the second one AC worked fine, but the shower head was broken, was leaking. It was held up with blue painter's tape.

I was much surprised by the room quality of this motel when we checked in. The rooms have been updated and are some of the nicest motel rooms I've stayed in. Our room was clean and the location felt safe and was easy to drive to. Definitely would stay here again if I was in the area and the price was right!

Hotel room and towels smelled really bad

First off, i really appreciated the staff for helping me out by switching my room for me when i had an issue with the first one that was given to me. Very happy with that detail. The room i had after was nice, clean and didnt smell like cigarette smoke. The furniture and color scheme of the room was very nice.

We had a pleasant stay at the Friendly Hills Inn. While this property is older it has been nicely updated and is attractive. Our room was clean and comfortable. There were a few minor scuffs on furniture but everything was sturdy. There was a small refrigerator and microwave in our room. Towels were clean and plentiful. Our bed was comfortable, sheets and bedding were clean. Plenty of hot water and it was quiet as the property doesn't face directly onto the street. The check-in experience was nice and all the staff were kind. We stayed for three nights and would return again!

Unfortunately when I first walked up to the counter, it’s definitely well kept but they had a poor dead praying mantis, then a dead spider outside of the office, a dead bee, and then in our bed (worst of all, on my fiancés side was a large silverfish which I got pictures and video of.) I told the staff and he brushed it aside like it was no big deal when my fiance and I were creeped out that we would have more in our bed. Almost to the point of leaving. I do give them some credit they kept it clean to view but the floor was coming apart at the transition from the main bedroom to the bathroom. The towel hanger was coming off the wall badly. Plus the room did not have the air on when we first got there ( smart to lower electrical costs and usage) but it was 90 degrees inside.

This was a last minute booking. It was my first time in Whittier and wasn't familiar with the area. Turned out to be the right move (based on the positive reviews on Hotels.com). Will book again next time I'm in Whittier.

We had a generously sized room with two queen beds, a table with 2 chairs, still leaving room to walk around, with plenty of storage room. Shower was also spacious. All decor and fixtures were updated and fresh. Room was very quiet, even when at full occupancy. Very comfortable beds, pillows and bedding. There were 4 pillows on each bed to start! No need to ask for extras! Perfect accommodations!

Pool closes too early for summer. 7 pm is way too early. No housekeeping or fresh towels

Shower handle was a little finicky, clean room, no frills.

The shower head did not provide enough water. There were no channels available to watch on the TV, and the internet did not work with the smart TV. The air conditioning worked fine, and the bed was comfortable, rated 8 out of 10. The staff member who checked me in at night was very friendly.

It was well maintained

Friendly Hills Inn is a great property that is quiet and fairly priced. Our bed wasn't the greatest, but our room was spacious. There is a fabulous restaurant in the front of the property that is a must!

The room had been nicely remodeled for handicap accessibility. The new door latch was sticky, and the staff had a locksmith out the very next morning to adjust it so it worked perfectly.

We got to the property early and the room wasn't ready yet. But the Front Desk person gave us an estimated time for the room to be ready and when we got back it was ready and we were allowed to check in early. Which was great because we were tired. Room is spacious and clean. Property is kept up nicely. Highly recommend this Motel.

This family run establishment is well-kept and one of the few well-priced hotels in the greater Whittier area. Rooms are nicely remodeled and stocked with appropriate items. Hot water is abundant! Staff quickly addressed requests. Nice that the windows opened to get fresh air in the mornings. Noise much less than some hotels down in Buena Park and Friendly Hills Inn is 1/2 the cost. Nice sized fridge. Close to Whittier College and Biola University! Close to Big and Little Norm’s locations, yum!

There was a dirty towel in the bathroom. The bed covering didn't look very clean. One of the chairs in the room had torn upholstery. The room was large and had adequate storage space. It was close to restaurants and shopping. It was in a nicer area of Whittier. The bed was comfortable.

The place is comfy and clean. It is a quiet neighborhood. There's not much dinning options within a walking distance. The rooms are spacious and modernly refurbished. I didn't like the fact that it does not have a toilet in the common areas

Limited maid service for my 4 night stay and when they serviced the room they didn't give me any toilet paper. I complained about a very noisy upstairs neighbor and nothing was done about it.

Very friendly people. I booked a room for my sister & husband while they visited over holidays. They expressed to me how horribly hard the bed was, extremely uncomfortable . My sister had to use extra pillows to sleep on . They actually left for home a day early bc of it

Check in straight forward but not high energy. Rooms are clean and modern renovation. Lamp missing lampshade. Not enough charging plugs. Coffee in room is worse than Folgers. Basic room, very comfortable bed and room for barely two. Shower excellent, lots of pressure and heat as needed. There's a pool. Easy access to central Whittier.
