Reviews
The hotel has a great location and friendly staff, but there are issues with valet parking and some rooms have thin walls and doors. Some guests have reported damaged vehicles and long wait times for valet service. The rooms are clean, but some have maintenance issues such as broken AC and debris in the shower.

Nice staff, great room!

We have stayed here before, and it was a great experience. However, our second time not as good. I feel like the cleanliness could be better in such a high priced and nice downtown facility. Bathroom floors looked dirty, and one of the two beds was very creaky every time you moved on it. The toilet seat had been tightened crooked so you were sitting on the underneath part if you sat on the toilet. However, the beds felt very clean and the large window is very nice on a high floor.

The property is beautiful, but the building is old and there are things that need to be taken care of maintenance wise I cut my foot on a nail in my bedroom the night auditor that was there. It was a older African-American woman. She was really kind. She was very concerned and she acted as if she truly cared about the fact that I hurt myself on their property and then the young lady that was behind the bar was very kind and acted like she was very concerned now Vivek the Manager and then the young lady that was there when I left at 4 o’clock in the morning they acted like I was bothering them and I understand it was very early in the morning but that is not how you treat a customer so now me and Indigo hotel have a problem cause I was gonna try to do this thing the nice way but since you wanna act like I’m bothering you we have a problem

Very disappointed for the high price we paid ($350). Small, dark room. Sink wouldn’t drain, bathroom floor filthy. Small thing, but didn’t even have a channel guide for the outdated TV.

Excellent location, beautiful room and spacious gym. Lovely staff and great valet service. Nothing. Exceed expectations.

If there’s any chance there might be a snowstorm bigger than any of this country has seen in the last 10 years, I’d suggest you buy a refundable room. Even though it was an act of nature that prevented me from getting to the hotel I was not allowed to change the reservation dates.
- 5/5
Room was spotless, staff was exceptional, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower to die for!
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, great location

Breakfast was good. Breakfast included in the tariff is not true. you have a bonus for 20$ per room, totally different. Staff is very kind, very educate and solve any problem you have with a smile.

Staff was amazing- Ms. Amanda at the front desk, staff at the bar of the restaurant, and the valet were great. Room could've been cleaner. The visible detritus on the Keurig quickly convinced me not to use it. Lack of ability to connect with our own streaming services seemed rather old-fashioned in the upscale boutique hotel that I had picked above many cheaper options. It's been a while since I've stayed somewhere where I couldn't connect my own Netflix or similar service.
- 5/5
Exceptional hotel. Friendly team, clean, beautifully transformed historic building from the 1920s with modern amenities. A shout out to the valet team: always on duty, no matter the weather. A great experience all-around.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Indigo! The hotel was spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities. The staff was incredibly hospitable and welcoming, making the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff and valet parking attendants were all wonderfully friendly and attentive!
- 5/5
Beautiful and clean hotel, very nice and accommodating staff! Wonderful location!
- 5/5
The staff was so nice and accommodating. The room was spacious and well-appointed, and the hotel itself was extremely welcoming. Fantastic property!!
- 5/5
Very gracious staff and accommodating all requests.
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel. Their pictures on the sight do not do it justice. They kindly allowed us a very late check out as we had a long wait for our flight otherwise. Thank you so much Hotel Indigo. Charlie for letting us stay late and a big thanks yo Marie behind the bar for her kindness. Xo
- 5/5
This is now my very favorite hotel. The hotel was fantastic! If you are a pet lover, then this is your hotel! The staff were incredibly kind. The cleanliness was fantastic. The atmosphere was artsy, comforting, fun, and just really impressive I will be coming back to this hotel many many times. I am going to join this hotel business as a member if possible again I can’t give it any bigger thumbs up.
- 4/5
OK hotel for the price. The inside looks good, but they need to do something about the interior of the building, it looks really creepy from the back. The cleaning staff needs to make sure the entire room is clean (the table was sticky and with visible spills; they should vacuum more carefully). Reception staff was very nice and helpful.
- 5/5
This is an amazing property! I would highly recommend Hotel Indigo when visiting the Winston-Salem area. It is centrally located and in a highly walkable area. If you choose not to valet park your car, there is a very inexpensive garage one block away by the bus station. The staff understand good customer service and were always friendly and helpful. My room was perfect and beautifully decorated. This is now my "go to" hotel when visiting the Winston-Salem area!
- 5/5
Really liked The Indigo Hotel. Really appreciated the valet service. Check in was great. Staff were really nice. Bar tenders were great. The room was nice and beautifully decorated. Enjoyed the nice bedding and toiletries. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Small, hip, friendly hotel. Great service, food and vibe in the lobby bar and restaurant. We were coming and going a lot and the valets were on it with a smile every time. Excellent value. We’ll be back!

The staff was awesome, and the overall experience were great…
- 5/5
Truly enjoyed our stay and the service and employees were so kind.
- 5/5
Easy to find easy to park lots of activities and restaurants
- 5/5
All the hotel staff members I interacted with were just wonderful! From accommodating an early check-in to parking advice to a friendly smile at breakfast, I was so impressed by their kindness and efficiency.
- 5/5
Bar is great as well
- 1/5
When I arrived at the hotel, there was no room for me as the hotel was overbooked. The receptionist acted like it was a great inconvenience for her that I showed up to stay at the hotel that I booked a month in advance and paid up front. Really?!? Terrible behavior by the hotel receptionist. I guess she was annoyed that she had to get off her phone to deal with a customer.
- 5/5
Very nice and clean
- 3/5
This hotel is fine. I love the high ceilings and the fact that it's a converted space. But the AC didn't work well. I had it set at 68 and it could only make it down to 76 so the room was a little swampy. The staff was friendly. Our bed was made with the bottom sheet leaving a foot of mattress cover exposed at the top - weird and uncomfortable. The location was good. Parking was expensive. I'll choose another place next time.
- 4/5
The hotel was clean and has a nice bar/restaurant. It’s walkable to several other dining options and breweries. Staff were nice and check-in was easy.
- 5/5
Really cool art deco building in downtown WS.
- 3/5
Our first room want that clean and the power went out on 1/2 the room so we had to change rooms at 11 at night. Oddly, the second room was much more comfortable🤔 The staff was friendly for the most part though the valley was difficult to manage. Also, there is no basket between 11pm and 6am. Make bite of that
- 5/5
I had a great stay! Maria was the star of the show! Amazing customer service from start to finish. She made me feel very comfortable and safe. I also enjoyed the room service. It has a nice restaurant/bar area in the lobby. My room was so clean and nice. The bed was very firm which I loved. Within walking distance of a lot of great shops/restaurants. FYI there is no fridge in the room to keep food or drinks and there is also no microwave in the room to heat food.
- 5/5
Latasha was great. She helped us find the perfect room for my daughter’s birthday!
- 5/5
Decent room, good location, SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF!
- 5/5
Excellent experience, friendly staff, quiet stay, good location, lively lobby with nice work areas.
- 5/5
Coming to Indigo is a nice experience, staff is friendly and room are clean.
- 2/5
The property was great , but I am not a fan of their Saturday night dance club which can be heard all the way up to the 4th floor all night until 3am .
- 3/5
We reserved a handicapped room. Did not get that. Offered to change it later but at this point it was only a stay for a day and a half. We were not given fresh towels nor was the coffe e maker working. The beds were very comfortable. The restaurant was very good and the staff very friendly. At the price of the room we expected better care of that. Would not recommend nor would I go back.
- 3/5
The floor was sticky and had spilled coffee stuck to the ground. The rug was worn. The curtain did not open because the mechanism was broken and the grout in the bathroom was filthy
- 4/5
Good buffet breakfast
- 4/5
There was some dust in the corners of the room. The valet link sent to my phone didn't allow me to order my car in the morning so I walked down at 6:05am, but they weren't around. I waited a few minutes and they returned for their regular hours of 6am-11pm. The stay was fine, but I wouldn't choose this hotel again since it wasn't the best overall experience, but maybe common for a downtown Winston-Salem hote.
- 5/5
Easy check in. We self parked at a public garage that was near by, approximately 50 yards away. Valet was typically available but they were tied up. My car cost $12 for overnight parking (versus $26 for valet at the same garage not including tip). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was no refrigerator in the room and the ice machine was on another floor. Our room was typically quiet but doors opening and closing were audible. The staff was friendly. We went to a concert at the Ramkat, Ubered to the concert and walked back. The return walk took about 10 minutes.
- 5/5
I love this hotel. It is very reasonably priced and in a great location. The staff always goes above and beyond.
- 3/5
The coffee machine had dust all over and looked liked was not wiped clean in several days.
- 5/5
Hotel Indigo was wonderful! Check in was easy, staff was friendly, and hotel is super clean. My room was spacious, decor was lovely. My daughter and I enjoyed breakfast in the cafe each morning. I would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
The Room was clean all but the floors They needed sweeping and mopped The Restaurant ambiance and food EXCELLENT AGAIN, NOT ENOUGH STAFF
- 2/5
Limited menu. Room okay…nothing special. Only 2 bath, hand and wash cloth.Pillows very hard. The location was convenient since we were there for funeral that was walking distance. $27.00 charge for valet parking decided to street park ourselves. Just not worth the room cost.
- 5/5
Clean hotel. Helpful staff.
- 5/5
The 6th floor rooms were lovely with tall ceilings and modern fixtures. I personally did not like that housekeeping left the hallways messy while they worked. But the room was spotless and I really enjoyed how central and walkable WSNC's downtown area was.
- 5/5
The staff was exceptional, the location was AMAZING, the room was great. The hotel was incredibly clean, you can tell that the staff takes pride in their work. It was a fantastic experience, from end to end; there are a ton of indie restaurants and art galleries. We are looking forward to returning next weekend.
- 1/5
When we arrived the street to the hotel was completed blocked off due to a bike race. We were not made aware of this prior to arrival and it seemed as those the hotel staff didn't know about it. Once we arrived, the valet took awhile to help get our items. When we checked into our room the AC wasn't working and had to be switched to another room. The hallway on floor 3 smelled like weed and so did the elevator. The elevator and floor 3 hallway were very hot as well. My vehicle was damaged by the valet, they didn't let me know about it, I found the damages.
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 3/5
Great staff! Interesting lobby. Terribly thin walls and doors. Could hear everything and everyone on either side of my room and out in the hall.
- 5/5
The staff is very friendly and helpful!! My check in & out was so easy & everything with very clean. Definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Only complaint was the bar service, I waited 10 mins at the bar to order a drink. Was never greeter by the bartender even though she spoke to the three men seated before me. It was not a busy time, and there were only the 4 of us at the bar at the time. Ultimately left because I was never served. Otherwise, a good experience. Some mentioned how the floors were creaky, and they were, however it has more to do with the historic building and less with the hotel management. Overall very satisfied.
- 4/5
When we arrived at the hotel. The person at the desk was so nice. The bar was a disaster. There was broken glass all over the bar and the floor. The bartender was very overwhelmed, did not know what pinot grigio was. A few young gentleman had to open bottle of wine for another table.
- 3/5
Overall good hotel to stay at. It was a little disappointing to learn that the valet ends at 11pm as I was coming back from a late dinner meeting which meant trying to find street parking. It was also frustrating that my room wasn’t ready when I got there (an hour after check in) and I’m almost certain I was downgraded to a different available room (I’ve stay at the property before and had much better rooms).
- 5/5
Great location!
- 3/5
No bandaids in the first aid kid in the lobby! Please restock in case of true emergency.
- 5/5
We have stayed at the Indigo several times. So easy to walk to venues and downtown restaurants. Also safe.
- 2/5
The building was unique and in good repair, the service was poor. It took the girl at the counter 17 mins to get me checked in. I was the only guest waiting. There was a gap under the door in my room 200 something that was 2 inches or larger, I heard every toilet flush. My shower had visible debris coming off the floor. The area around the hotel seemed nice.
- 5/5
Overall, fantastic experience. From the check-in to the valet parking, everyone extremely friendly. The room was very spacious with very nice finishes. Extremely comfortable bed. We will definitely be back!
- 4/5
This is a good hotel. There aren’t many options in Winston- Salem downtown, but I felt like this was one of the best in that context and was happy to stay there. Nice staff, decent breakfast, and clean room. Unfortunately, we were placed in a room by the elevator, so had to endure a lot of noise over the weekend.
- 4/5
Property apparently under-staffed on weekend. Had to seek out staff at front desk and coffee bar after 7 AM. Parking was inconvenient. No soap in shower. Property clean and otherwise as convenient as expected but wouldn’t stay again.
- 3/5
First off, good luck at finding somewhere to park to check in here. It was awful. Next the employee at check in was too rushed and rude. We needed ice and asked another employee where it was available. She suggested the bar, so we went there first. The bartender that evening was "extremely rude"! We did eventually get ice, only available on one floor. The room was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable! The building is historic and they have tried to save that. Overall, work on staff and parking and it would be worth every penny.
- 5/5
The hotel itself is amazing. Rooms are beautiful, staff is great, lobby is wonderful, and the bar/restaurant is fantastic. I do hope that the outside construction that the city is doing picks up speed and the transient population is kept under control. Could turn into a great walkable location.
- 5/5
Excellent location! Great room and service!
- 5/5
Clean and quiet
- 3/5
Unfortunately a room needing updating
- 5/5
Great hotel. Staff is always efficient and friendly. Many good restaurants but area can be sketchy after dark.
- 4/5
Hotel staff very helpful and polite! Hotel was beautiful with nice accommodations. Only issue and it wasn’t a huge deal, but being an old building which was remolded and keep original wood floors, though beautiful, were very squeaky for anyone moving around while others in your room were trying to sleep. Other than that, not another complaint and the value was good too!
- 1/5
My checking was confusing because it was 7pm and no rooms were done. They did give a card for dining to help with that issue. Then I was charged an additional $68.00 on top of the incidental charge of $50. I called and the front desk manager told me well you will just have to wait until it falls off. I called again because I didn’t get the email and he resent the email then rushed me off the phone like my issue didn’t matter because he had people in front of him. I asked for the general manager name and he hung up on me!! I really like the hotel but if that’s how they handle issues I won’t be back!!
- 2/5
2. ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING. Says they are 100% valet but that was a joke. We had to find parking garage, park our vehicles & walk 2 blocks to the hotel at 10PM. 3. On Thurs. afternoon, I contacted the hotel & asked if my 3 rooms could be next to each other or at least on the same floor. I was told to call back on Friday morning. Called back, made the request again. When we got there 2 of the rooms were on the 2nd floor the other on the 3rd. Overheard the housekeeper say that she didn’t even get to the 2nd floor to clean rooms the day before. Hotel had more dirty rooms than clean ones. 4. Room had 2 queen beds but only 1 bed had a flat sheet. Bedspreads were mixed matched. 5. Only 1 ice machine worked. 6. 2 towels, 2 washcloths in rooms. Called asked for more, told me I had to come to the lobby & get extras.
- 5/5
But by far the most spectacular asset is the staff.
- 5/5
Loved it!
- 5/5
Great staff and condition!!
- 5/5
We cane with a large group and the rooms were amazing and the staff was even better. 30 out of 5 stars!!! Fantastic place to stay for any reason!
- 5/5
Convenient location. Staff was friendly!
- 1/5
The manager Randall was ryde and not helpful.
- 5/5
The Hotel is super cute & clean with a Great restaurant
- 3/5
Great property but amenities are lacking.
- 5/5
Quick check in. Clean and well maintained room. Great shower and products! Friendly staff.
- 4/5
I was drawn to this hotel because of its style and its location. The style and comfort of the room met my expectations. We didn't spend much time in the town because we had been out for a long day, but the activity was a little lacking when we pulled in around 7 on a Thursday. Parking at the hotel (valet) was $25 and the $15 "breakfast included" upcharge was for a $20 voucher to their restaurant which will cost $30, so just avoid that alltogether. In summary it is a well-appointed hotel at a reasonable cost. It appears to be a very upscale hotel but it's pretty bare bones in terms of service and staffing.
- 3/5
Hotel Indigo was nice but was missing some of the basics that I've come to expect when traveling. For instance, the bathroom should have had a bath towel to lay down so not to slip, a magnified mirror and water pressure that was not tied to the temperature of the water. To get full pressure, the water had to be scalding hot. Once you lowered the heat, you also lowered the pressure. The room was filled with multiple instances that just slightly missed the mark.
- 4/5
Only bad was the valet parking. No service what so ever. Had two car just sitting in the valet spot for over 45 mins. We just used the public parking deck which was cheaper than the valet. Beside that, the hotel was great.
- 5/5
Had a wonderful experience, helpful staff and clean rooms. Made us feel like we had out own little apartment with the way the hotel layout it. Although we got a room with one king bed, and it didn't have a mini fridge, which I was not expecting. It probably listed it in the description, but just keep that in mind.
- 5/5
Great hotel in an excellent location downtown! Good alternative to larger chains. Would definitely stay here again. Street parking is free on the weekends so that’s what we used, but they have a valet option.
- 5/5
Super nice!
- 5/5
Best staff. Comfortable beds. Great bar and restaurant.
- 4/5
The building is great, historic. The neighborhood is totally walkable. I would stay there again. The only thing I found unusual was that I was billed to my credit card a few hours before even arriving. The front desk said it was standard procedure. It wasn't a big deal. I'm used to paying upon checkin/out.
- 2/5
The check-in wasn't memorable, but the rest was pretty much a disaster. The entire reason for my visit was a prescheduled college tour for my daughter and her friend. We got downstairs at 9am for breakfast and should have had plenty of time to make a 10am tour (just 5 minutes away). First, we waited several minutes to get seated. Once seated, it was10 minutes before we saw anyone. It was the same girl who seated us bringing us water. When I said that I was ready to order, she said that she wasn't the waiter. Ok? Ten minutes later the actual waitress comes over to get the order. Instead of making our coffees, I watch her pour drinks for all of the alcoholics sitting at the bar. When we finally get our coffee, it was cold. No time to complain. I explain that we are in a hurry and she brings out the food at 9:45. We push it down in 5 minutes and I send the girls up to the room with the food boxes (because of course we couldn't finish) while I go to the valet. I call the tour and they said that it will leave at 10:05. Great, we can make it EXCEPT the valet lost my car! The whole point of a valet is that your car is supposed to be safe. I call the hotel manager because the day supervisor was definitely drowning in a glass of water and immediately handed me his card. He didn't answer, so he was useless. I ask the supervisor if she could contact the valet guy. They have no way of communicating with the valet guy, no cell phone, no CB radio. The valet guy returns wi
- 5/5
This is always a great place to stay with a great restaurant located on the main floor.
- 5/5
Treated like family and always improving in the kitchen.
- 3/5
The hotel was i nice area of town. Lots of construction going on.
- 1/5
Orbitz sold us a room that was not available - 2 queen beds. At check in, we were not informed of this and were just given a king room. When we realized this, we immediately returned to the front desk. We were informed that there was so other room available and we could not get our money back.
- 5/5
The room was perfect. The bed was so comfortable. The staff were kind and very helpful. I love how close it was to all of the eateries and shopping and the arts district. And you can bring your dog!
- 3/5
two towels one had make up on it. I just expected better from a hotel that charges almost $200 a night
- 4/5
Room was cozy, not spacious. Bar service was not great Saturday (lots of staff but all standing together stocking the wine) but Sunday the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Room was cleaned each day (nice to see this again). Valet had over a dozen cars to park & it was just him, next day at check out, they already had our vehicle pulled.
- 4/5
Great location- Lobby was fantastic
- 3/5
Staff was nonexistent both when checking in and checking out. 10 minutes waiting at the front desk when checking in. When checking out the front desk young lady was sitting in a chair in the window on her cell and it was like she was put out by me asking for change of a twenty dollar bill so I could tip the valet because the breakfast counter said they had no change. Hotel very attractive but staff was terrible. I would not stay again.
- 4/5
Nice property. We enjoyed our stay. BUT parking is difficult. Valet parking is not ideal and expensive.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel. The staff were exceptional and the rooms, restaurant and lobby were beautiful.
- 3/5
Hotel was beautiful and the staff was lovely, but they were out of everything this weekend. I could't get extra pillows, coffee for my room, shampoo...
- 5/5
nothing
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful hotel and staff, the room I stayed in was quite possibly the prettiest and most accommodating space I've stayed in. The shower is the BEST!
- 5/5
Excellent hotel in the center of downtown. Easy walking distance to some nice restaurants and bars. Decor very modern and well maintained. Had a great stay while touring Wake Forest University with my daughter.
- 5/5
Beautiful innovative design. Extremely high ceilings. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- 1/5
There was confusion with check in and almost made us re book a new night. There was also no parking near by had to park 1 block away. During my stay I was woken up at 7am with kids running down the hallway slamming doors. Arrived at 3am so rest was needed. Regret staying here.
- 5/5
Good location in Winston. Very new. Rooms spacious and furnishings fresh.
- 5/5
I have said at this property before and it is always clean and the staff is always friendly!
- 2/5
Nothing unique. Parking is hard to find. One front desk guy was being truly difficult and wouldn’t honor the type of room we booked despite I showed him my receipt. We sorted it out but with many inconvenient. He also couldn’t print out the receipt because it was through Expedia? This is the first time I have such an issue with a hotel because I booked through Expedia
- 5/5
The staff at Hotel Indigo were very pleasant and courteous
