Very good place to stay walking distance for what ever you need

My guest room at the Canopy by Hilton Chicago was beautifully appointed, and I especially appreciated the Nespresso machine and the refillable water bottle—both thoughtful touches. However, the lobby felt a bit worn, and the coffee bar and main bar, despite being described as 24 hours, had limited operating hours. The location is excellent, with easy access to major Chicago attractions, restaurants, and coffee shops. The biggest disappointment was the service: the desk clerk I interacted with was perfunctory and disengaged, both in person and over the phone. I had to initiate and close every interaction, which left me feeling unwelcome. Unfortunately, that experience alone makes me hesitant to stay here again.

The decor of the hotel and room was lovely. I am a fan of art deco and the rooms were done perfectly. Whoever decided having a master power switch in a guest room without telling the guest they could turn off their ability to have lights in the middle of the night is an absolute moron. Can’t say enough how idiotic the concept is in a hotel room.
- 5/5
Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Location was within walking distance to several activities and restaurants.
- 5/5
The staff and room were excellent. No bartender one night at the bar but it was otherwise a great experience. All common areas were clean. The ambiance was lovely.

This is such a great hotel! Safe, and comfortable and gorgeous!

Upon arrival no one was at the desk. An agent who seemed to be on her way out decided to assist me. I asked about parking and she informed me where to park but didn’t mention the negotiated rate for hotel guest. I paid more money on parking than needed. On the day of my departure I called the desk at 6:18am in need of a washcloth because we were short one in the room and no one answered. It was very rare to see agents at the front desk during the evening hours. Aside from those concerns, I loved everything else location was perfect and would returned despite these minor hiccups. Shoutout to housekeeping my room was really clean!

The rooms were spacious, very modern and beds were really really comfortable! I utilized the gym in the hotel and it was more than sufficient. Would definitely stay here again!

This property is mid, and shouldn’t live up to the hype, the room we stayed at had broken flush, also there is no parking on property, but rather a shared Garage space a block away from the property
- 5/5
The staff was very kind and polite, and the room decor was amazing.

Parking is a 1-2 minute walk (expensive) from the hotel so it’s really convenient! The staff are absolutely amazing. Breakfast was delicious. The lights in the bedroom/bathroom are very confusing but the staff put us on the top floor and the view was amazing. Definitely staying here every visit to Chicago.

The food is not up to par with the hotel or its location. For example, bagels that were soft, tasteless, and soulless, like something from Wonder Bread. In the Chicago Financial District? They need to try harder or get a new food manager. Decent bartenders though.

Friendly, professional staff at check in and throughout our visit. Rooms were nice, clean, and comfortable. Minor inconveniences- the steamer in the room didn’t work well at all and menu options were limited in lobby restaurant with long service times. Location was convenient to public transportation. Would stay again!

Exceptional! Beautiful room and beautiful view! Had a wonderful stay!
- 5/5
My friend and I stayed for the weekend and enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were artsy and clean, and the staff was amazing, particularly Annie (front desk) and Sam (cafe). We didn’t try the breakfast, but everything looked appealing and fresh. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the Michigan Ave attractions, but I prefer it since the area is less noisy, especially at night! Overall great stay, I will definitely be back.
- 5/5
The hotel is very nice, as far as location, just plan your movements accordingly. My wife and I couldn't get around like we wanted to because we are both disabled with back and knee problems, so getting around was hard for us.
- 4/5
Hotel was beautiful but parking is in separate garage away from hotel.

Everything was perfect I arrived a few hours early and the hotel held my bags for me until my room was ready and they let me add on a late checkout which was perfect because I was catching a late train ride out and the room was clean and spacious the only bad thing on the room was the temperature was set to 72 and the room was cold throughout the night but after asking the front desk about it they told me you just had to ask to get the temperature took up which they did and we were able to control the temperature after that which was much better there is a fridge but no microwave in the rooms and they don’t have ice machines but the front desk will bring you a big bag of ice if requested and location was perfect it was a short walk from the train station and a short walk to Willis tower overall it was a great stay and I will stay here again…

Hotel was clean and was on a good location The lady at the front desk was on a personal phone call the entire time during the check in process. For the price of the hotel you guys dont have a bell hop to help with the luggage to the room. Again for the price the room didnt even have a hair dryer

We have stayed twice now and both times the room was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The staff was helpful and eager to give any information and/or recommendations about the area. The only drawback was that there wasn’t room service and the restaurants on site were pricey.

Beautiful hotel , clean, and location is fantastic. The only problem we had was that we booked a room listed with a “City View”. The “City View” was a 2nd story room that looked directly into the 3rd floor of a parking garage and that’s all u could see unless you put your face on the window and looked directly up. We called to ask if this was a mistake and were told “that’s the city view you paid for”. Never heard of a 2nd story city view. So make sure you know what you’re purchasing before booking a room with a city view. Other than that the place is fantastic.

The cafe/restaurant set up in the lobby wasn't ideal. And two sets of elevators leading to separate hotels were a little odd. The front desk was understaffed - there was only one person woking on check ins and check outs, but she did do an amazing job.

Previous Canopy hotel was very IKEA-like. This one was decidedly upmarket and inventively stylish. This stay made me a fan of the brand- far nicer than Aloft, possibly exceeding Indigo. All that said, it is very targeted to millenials. Just 2 1/2 blocks from Union Station. Don't like 11:00am check-outs. Other tan that, I have no rocks to throw. It was 11 degrees outside- brrrrr.

They told me I had an Expedia credit. I used it and then they told me no and charged me.
- 4/5
Parking (paid) is right around the corner, easy access. Check-in was efficient, and initial impressions of the hotel were excellent. It has a smaller, warm feel to it vs. a huge hotel downtown. Bar/restaurant area is cool/funky, a nice place to have coffee or a drink. The hotel is transparent about it being an "historic" hotel that has been updated. I think this is a positive, as the hallways leading to the guest rooms have more character with the dark wood and wall lamps. It is dark, however. My guest room was nice. Modern bathroom and shower, good space and amenities. Some cons...the beds were miserably soft. This is subjective, of course, but it prevented a sound night's sleep for me. Con #2: Noise. The hotel is adjacent the "L" public transportation system, and it is pretty much constant. Also, we had a church revival going on next door on a Sunday morning, so that was annoying. Neither noise issues were the hotel's fault, but be advised. Overall, I liked the hotel and would probably go back, but I would choose a corner room on a side away from the L.
- 5/5
Room was spotless. Service was great.
- 2/5
We often come to this hotel because the rooms are lovely, as if the hotel space, and close to events we go up; however our room is never ready at check in time. This happens every time, even when coming later than the normal check in time. I wish this was something they could figure out because it is frustrating when you have reservations and timed events and want to get into your room to get ready
- 5/5
Very comfortable room, well-laid out.

The lighting was a bit confusing. One switch controlled all switches?
- 5/5

I enjoyed a solo 3 night stay. The location was nice and really close to the train station if you arrived from Midway airport. The room was nice and clean. The front desk staff were kind and helpful. The only con was the shower pressure was low. Other than that I had a great stay.

Hotel was beautiful and clean. Room was too warm while sleeping, definitely prefer it to be cooler. Very unhappy with the breakfast deal. We paid for the breakfast package and didnt get it. Instead they wanted to charge it to our room. So we paid for something we didnt get. Other than that, great stay.

The hotel state was really nice as far as cleanliness and the staff however, the amenities closed down very early such as the bar and the rooftop restaurant. We checked in on a Friday and we’re not able to enjoy the restaurant due to being closed on the weekends.

Initially, I brought my teenaged children up to the desk and said my husband who had booked our reservation and was waiting in the car until he knew where to park, but that I had the confirmation email for our family's reservation on my phone. Ms Nariyah twice refused to look at my phone, saying she already had our reservation information but that she could not give us any rooms without my husband and his ID. I told her I would go switch places with my husband, and left. A few minutes later, my husband came back to the car and said she'd been unable to book both our rooms because the 2nd room was in my name and she needed my ID. So my husband took the car to park and I went back to the front desk. After waiting unsuccessfully, I went with our children to our one room, and then returned to check in to the second room. When I told her my husband had said she needed my ID after all, she got angry and said I should have told her the first time that there were two rooms. I asked if she could take my ID and held it out, but she would not reach out to take it. I have a documented shoulder injury and could not reach further, so I tossed my driver's license and it landed in front of her. She said she refused to take my reservation. No other staff were at the desk.

Perfect location!
- 5/5
The staff was attentive and professional, though I don't think the number that texts you when you check in is a human, because I asked if they had something I'd run out of and never got a response. Regardless, it was a beautiful place to stay with extremely comfortable beds--down pillows included. Slightly loud on the side I stayed on, but it calmed down after a while. Thank you for a nice stay.

The room had historic charm and was stylish but the light switches took some getting used too. We had a figure out which switch turned off sections of the room and electrical sockets. Eco friendly but be careful or you might not charge your phone.

- 5/5
Perfect!
- 5/5
Loved the room, it was comfortable and clean. The bartenders in the lobby bar were excellent, breakfast was good, and the location was convenient for work.
- 2/5
Once I got to my room, I was surprised by how thin the walls were; I could hear noise from the neighboring rooms, including a couple next door having sex and loud music from below. It reminded me of my college days, which isn’t what I expected. The windows also didn’t block out street noise, so I could hear alarms and the train passing by. The service throughout my stay felt unprofessional. It took about 20 minutes to check out and have my bags held. I also missed the breakfast cutoff by just seven minutes, and the staff wouldn’t let me buy a croissant, which seems unusual for a café. When I ordered a latte, I received a pre-made coffee with milk instead, which was disappointing since I know exactly what I’m looking for. On a positive note, the decor is nice, and the location next to Union Station is convenient. However, if you're looking for a quality hotel experience, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Great hotel and staff is amazing

Rooms are super dope. The only negative is, the roof top is closed on sat and Sunday. I arrived Friday and the outside portion of the rooftop was closed due to construction.

While every part of my stay was wonderful, I have to give a special shout-out to Kevin, the bartender. He truly made my experience unforgettable. Kevin was welcoming, personable, and went above and beyond to create an incredible vibe at the bar. His energy, hospitality, and craft made me feel right at home and turned a great stay into an exceptional one. I can’t recommend this property enough and will definitely be returning. Five stars all around!!

It was nice. The front desk lady was a rude though

I thought the hotel was nice. A little on the pricy side but it was clean and the finishes and furniture were unique.

Great sized room, staff were super friendly, facilities were cool and modern…loved staying there and would again!!!
- 5/5
The property was very nice. The staff was a little below average at the front desk.
- 5/5
It was the perfect stay next to public transportation and things to do in the city! We would love to return! The restaurant was also a huge plus! Coffee and staff were excellent!
- 2/5
The hotel looked nice and had a nice lobby area. Staff was ok. Staff at the Hilton garden were nicer and more helpful. The room was terrible. The bed was very low and uncomfortable. There was no good place to sit the desk chair was good except it was extremely heavy to move in place. The toilet in the bathroom was too tall as were the hangers for your clothes. Yes, quite frankly it seemed that this room was furnished with rejects from other hotels. Would not stay here again.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. I contacted them in advance to let them know I’d be arriving early, and they kindly allowed me to check in early at no extra cost — a gesture I really appreciated! The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a great variety to choose from. The bar was also a highlight, offering a wide selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming throughout my stay. Overall, it was a perfect experience — 10/10! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Overall, enjoyed the stay at this hotel! First night was a bit rough since did a late check-in and there was no one at the desk when we arrived - there was only 1 staff member working the check in desk that evening and she was stationed at the Hilton Garden Inn next door. Just keep in mind they have limited staffing in the evening so check-in may take longer than expected. The room was clean and comfortable, with access to a water station nearby to fill up a glass bottle included in the room. So many food options nearby and the Sears Tower is right across the street!

Great choice !! Beds are low but comfortable.

Hotel staff and service were wonderful and accommodating. Hotel located in a safe and convenient location to the el and trains.

The front desk was nice, but we asked for more coffee 3 times and didn’t get it to our room. The bartender ignored me when I sat at the bar so I left. Also. why have a rooftop bar/restaurant that is closed on Saturday and Sunday? The room itself was modern and clean. It definitely has a cool vibe overall.
- 5/5
Loved the mid-century vibe. Easy access from the interstate, close to dining and shopping. Would definitely stay again.

When I got back that night all the pillows were back on the bed, they did not have double pillow cases on them, they still smelled, and the bedding did not look as if it had been changed. I called the front desk and they sent someone to get the pillows. I kept the ones that I thought were ok but after laying on them for a minute I noticed the same smell. Now I want to be clear, it was not a light smell, I literally had to wrap two "clean towels" around the pillow and by morning the smell was so strong I could smell it when I was standing away fron the bed. The reason they smell is because they are old down pillows. After moisture gets in down they start to stink, especially ater they are heated up from your body touching them. Additionally, after washing my face and drying it with the folded hand towel I noticed brown stains all over the side that was folded inward, gross. That towel should have never been put out. And last, the staff lacks professionalism. When asked questions they are very "short." as if you are bothering them. I exclude Marquez from the complaint, he was great. The woman who checked me out was good as well.

Great Stay

It was upscale, clean, and in a great location.
- 5/5
The hotel is beautiful and upscale. The bar was lively when we arrived in the late evening. Our room was clean and comfortable. The area around the hotel is vibrant and feels very safe. We enjoyed the plentiful breakfast options (for purchase). We also enjoyed lunch at the Seville restaurant, which is on the top floor of the building, with lovely outside seating on the rooftop.

I loved it very spacious and clean.
- 5/5
Hello my stay was good. No issues from me.
- 5/5
What a beautiful hotel, with excellent customer service! The staff really cared about making sure all of our needs were met. We thought the room was one of the cleanest and nicest rooms we’ve stayed in. It was quiet, and the bed was comfy. The on site restaurant had delicious options for meals, and great drinks. We appreciated the texts from staff, and they quickly answered any questions we had. We also really appreciated the luggage storage as we checked out hours before our train was scheduled to depart. The proximity to Union Station was very convenient. I highly recommend staying here, we can’t wait to stay again!

The stay was good. Hotel convenient to the loop and other transportation. The hotel is a mix of historic charm and modern flair. Right next to the Willis Tower which has a food court. Bar/restaurant downstairs was very nice too!

This is a beautiful converted office building of the old Chicago and Northwest Railroad headquarters. It was so unique and nicely themed.

Wonderful Hotel!

Love the decor quite hotel
- 3/5
All we got was a tiny window. Was ridiculous felt as if there was no window at all. Don't think we got the room I reserved for different was smaller and for the amount I paid was ridiculous. Why am I paying more for a bigger room and yet get a smaller room?! Very disappointed. Was really looking forward for this weekend.
- 5/5
I had a great stay at this property. I booked this hotel last minute and sprung for the one bedroom! I didn't try the restaurant but definitely stop at the bar! Service was 10/10!

Our stay went well and was within a nice location.

Great and convenient place to stay for the attractions of downtown Chicago. Staff were helpful. We arrived a bit early but were able to check in. The beds were comfortable. All the decor was very nice. As many dining options in the area as you could ask for. Great place, would love to stay here again.

Pleasantly surprised. Busy hotel with a lot of tourists but very quiet. Nice gym equipment.

Nice hotel-spacious room, restaurants on site, comfortable bed. and close to State Street, cta stops, and museums.I liked the decor too-railroad/Chicago themed. Overall we had a great time here and would definitely stay here again.
