    The hotel was good, and the spa was 100% worth it! The staff was rough. We’ve been Marriott members for a long time, and when we travel, we stay at the JW, W, or Ritz. We came to Chicago to go to Beyond Wonderland, and then we’re out till 2 or 3am experiencing Chicago night life. The hotel staff woke us up every morning at 7:30 or before by coming into the room that had a “do not enter” sign on the outside of the door. The morning we were leaving, we were walked in on three times before checkout with the “do not enter” sign on the outside of the door. Then we went to check out at the end of our stay, and the hotel was trying to charge me twice for the full stay amount - and would have gotten it if not for us paying attention. We know and love the JW, but this one was a rough one for us. We will return to the JW. Just not this one.

    Good customer service and the food in the lobby restaurants was so good! Also the service at that restaurant is amazing I believe her name was Stephanie, she went out of her way to find me caffeine free Diet Coke. Also, we forgot to tell them that we don’t eat bacon after the hamburger came. They happily to get back and started another hamburger to make sure there’s no bacon residue in it.

    We had a nice day at this hotel. I had requested a room in a higher floor and away from the elevator last week when they emailed me. We received a room on the fifth floor and right next to the elevator. I don’t think they review those forms they sent you to fill out an advance. The toilet did not flush well and some of the older items down near the pool are rusty.

    This hotel is nice, however it feels that they use exclusive memberships to prioritize rooms and experience. We had some issues in the room, and while they were receptive and accommodating, it feels like these things slip because they're trying to impress the membership guests.

    Very peaceful… but on Sat night after 9 pm there were quite a few screaming kids in the pool that is beside the hot tub. It is very loud and echoes throughout the area. I wish they had an under 18 rule after 9 pm for the pool. The hotel was very clean the rooms were nice and overall the price was worth it.

    Lobby of the hotel was cool but the room was not great at all for the price. I would expect the condition of the room for $150/night. For $400 a night the shower leaked through the glass door onto the floor and the bathroom sink drain was broken. Also no vent in the bathroom which is not ideal. Way overpriced.

    The one real disappointment was in the executive lounge. Around 9:57 AM, while guests were still coming in for breakfast (which ends at 10 AM), staff were visibly throwing the remaining food straight into the garbage. With everything going on in the world, it felt careless and poorly timed, especially when guests are still arriving and have paid extra for that access. At the very least, that sort of cleanup should be done out of sight.

    There was mold in the shower on the bottom seal of the shower and there was no vent in the bathroom. My husband didn’t shower the day we left because his first shower was “more cold than anything”. The water pressure wasn’t great and the temperature was mildly warm.

    The staff did a fine job. We had booked a room with access to the Executive Lounge and were informed upon checkin that the lounge closed at 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays (week days it's open until 10pm). This was a huge disappointment. Moreover the second restaurant in the building is closed. The room itself is average to slightly above average. The JW Marriott is a fine hotel but it is not a luxury hotel.

    I was bumped from a property that I booked specifically for its location in reference to a conference I was attending. I was informed as I was traveling to the hotel - that they overbooked and they eliminated all of the lesser important bonvoy members….. so my prepaid reservation meant nothing! I was moved 2 miles away- it cost me several uber and taxi trips back and forth to where my obligations were. Then when I was told where they could put me- they only had one night available. I had to book the additional night myself, on a third party because no one at the property could help me. Then I was asked to move rooms with 15 minutes notice before I had to leave to get to the conference. Which I couldn’t do - and the manager finally over rode the block on our room to allow me to stay in the same room for 2 nights. No one seemed to be able to help me or explain what exactly had happened to begin with. It was intensely frustrating and far less than the service level I would expect from a Marriott high profile property. In fact, the worst service I have had lately!

    the staff was very responsive and the service was friendly and quick, including room service. a bathroom issue was attended to very quickly. the bed was impressively comfortable, including the sheets and pillows. the lighting in the bathrooms was great and the 15X magnifying mirrors a rare blessing. the shower was very generously sized and the bathtub, luxuriously large and filled rapidly [we had a suite]. the room was whisper quiet despite the hotel looking full. zero street noise. this is an expensive hotel and an expensive suite yet there wasn’t one comfortable piece of furniture in it. in the living room, the sectional felt like it came from ‘big lots’ with rough fabric and inadequate depth, except for the chaise part. one big armchair was impressively hard and grossly uncomfortable. no stool. lounge at your own risk. the arm chair and stool in the bedroom must have been ordered out of a catalog without anyone having sat in it…the arms are too low and the back too straight for comfortable lounging. no minibar. do not expect any art on the wall as what’s there might qualify as decor but not even nice decor. the toilet seats slammed down with a bang. not to be snotty but i expect soft close hinges at a luxury hotel.

    We came to Chicago to celebrate my son’s birthday. The staff at this JW Marriott went above and beyond to make our stay special. I was able to arrange a special celebration cake to be sent to the room, plus they sent chocolate-covered strawberries (his favorite)! We booked a room with Executive Lounge access and it did not disappoint. My son was very satisfied with the breakfast - I wish I had stopped in to get myself a bagel. The desserts later in the evening were a nice touch, as well. We did not go during the hors d'oeuvre hours. All of the staff that we interacted with were lovely - engineering came in the first evening due to the phone not working, which was easily fixed. Housekeeping / turndown service was a nice touch and would always inquire whether we needed anything. The room service menu is a tad limited, but we were able to find items that we enjoyed with some recommendations from in room dining. Note - if you are in a 2 bed room, I recommend requesting a rolling table vs. a tray for the food, as the small table or nightstand are not big enough to eat off of, especially for 2 people. There are benches at the end of each bed that work perfect when eating off the room service table. The hotel is located close to public transportation, plus it is easy to order a ride share. Would definitely stay at this property again. Next time, I would love to book a spa treatment, as the other guests we met had nothing but praise for the spa.

    There was dirt and hair in the shower behind the door as if the housekeeping never enters the shower to clean it fully and just cleans from the open door. The pillow cases were stained (or at least I hope they were just stains) with hair dye or ink. Apart from that, pretty clean. Staff was friendly. The worst thing was the “view” we paid for. It was non-exists t. You get either a view of an interior courtyard or what they call a “city” view which is just of the larger buildings all around the hotel since the hotel is only 4 stories high. It was 100% not worth the extra price we paid for it.

    This was a beautiful hotel with a lot of amenities on site and the room was clean and spacious. We did have an issue where the shower was not draining properly and had to wait at least 30-45 minutes in between showers for 3 people. We did report it to the front desk the next morning and they took care of it very quickly and we did not have any issues for the remainder of our stay.

    Very nice hotel. The bar and lounge are right in the lobby, so be ready to walk past everyone with your travel luggage. The Valet was very quick, but the area does get congested. The staff was very helpful and there was always water in the lobby. The rooms, bathroom, and closet are large. The bathroom has no shower curtain, so that does leave it hard to have a 4-person room only using 1 bathroom together. The gym was very nice and the pool was little chilly. It said no children under 16, but it was overrun with kids in the evening so that you really couldn't use it. The spa was excellent and the services were some of the best we've had. The location was nice for walking to many areas.

    The option were room service a bar or one restaurant .. it’s extortion . It adds another $75 o your bill and u either have to stay in room for room service or bar I don’t drink … that’s an unfair added cost !!

    Excellent quiet property in a great location. Concierge service was exceptional at assisting and coordinating my special occasion in a timely manner and even offered an amenity. This is quite rare and much appreciated. I will be going back and recommending this hotel. This is my second stay here and won’t be my last.

    The JW Marriott had everything I wanted in a 4 star hotel. Soft comfy beds, I literally fell asleep moments after my head hit the pillows, welcoming staff and quiet rooms. The location was walkable to restaurants and the trains. The rooms were clean and the bathroom also had a light up magnifying mirror which made putting on make-up and mascara so much easier. I'll definitely stay here again for my next trip to Chicago.

    Will definently be back. Nice pool whirlpool area. Room service of good quality. Excellent spa customer service. I did not experience breakfast but hear it's very good. Will be back to stay longer.

    We we're coming off a bad reservation elsewhere and when greeted by the JW Marriott team member Vicki, we felt amazing! She was so caring and accomdating! The hotel itself if beautiful and the rooms are decadant! We ended up eating in the lounge and I must say that was some of the best food i've had! The hot tub was great and overall we had a great stay! Parking was a lot but hey it's Chicago....

    Very pricey but we felt very pampered! Even though it was a lot of money the food lounge on the 12th floor was incredible!! We felt like we had our own chef!! Sooo delicious!! The beds were like sleeping on pillows! We didn’t want to leave!!

    The downsides were: A charge for seemingly everything, felt nickeled and dimed. Charge for reserving on a non-Marriott site. Charge for Wifi. Was supposed to get free wifi, but didn't always connect and had to spend 40 minutes with Marriott IT. A nightly occurrence. Only one elevator bank for guests on one of the four hotel sides. If your room is on the opposite side, plan for a LONG walk and extra time to get there. Ridiculous that there are multiple staff elevators and one guest elevator bank. No grab and go breakfast options like The Autograph around the corner.

    This is an impressive hotel. The room was excellent and service was great. The mandatory $25 convenience fee feels like another way to pad their margins, but at least the hotel dining options (where you have to spend it) are very good.

    Wonderful stay!! Hotel was super clean and nice, all the amenities are amazing!! Close to all the downtown Chicago attractions. Everything was within walking distance. Loved the fact there was room service until midnight and two restaurants and a bar on site. Will stay again.

    Hotel has nice pool with hot hub which is what we needed. Kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Nice work out space. Love the fact that in the work out room, there is eucalyptus infused cold towels available for guests to use. This is a nice touch that makes this stay experience special. Good variety of breakfast options. When we checked in, the reception did not share any info about the executive level lounge access to us. So we missed out on hors d'oeuvres hours, evening dessert time. We reserved executive level room and didn't know about any of the benefits or timing of different hours until the day of our check out It would have been nice to know what's available to us. We booked 2 queen beds with executive level, but I think we got 2 double beds instead. Room looks different from the picture. Since it was a short trip we didn't bother changing room. The overall experience is fine, but check-in can be better had the reception take the time welcoming guests and explaining what's available, etc.

    The hotel and room were beautiful. The staff was very friendly. It was nice to have a workout facility, spa, pool and hot tub available. Very walkable location - easy access from both train stations, and within walking distance to many of the local attractions.
