Reviews
The hotel is praised for its excellent location, friendly staff, and clean rooms. However, guests frequently complain about the small room size, slow elevators, and lack of amenities such as a fridge and microwave. Some guests also report issues with noise and construction.

“The room was very clean, and the staff provided great service.”
- 4/5
Rooms dont have fridge or microwave. One microwave is on the second floor. Its very small. Its near some restaurants. Many are high end. The location was great for the things we wanted to do
- 4/5
The room was clean.
- 5/5
Very clean and perfect location. King bed room not so big but very efficient. Coffee in room situation could be better but Starbucks across the street. Valet service good. No breakfast available but other spots close by.

Very clean room and the staff was kind. Room had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Just what we needed for one night of stay. Lovely it was right in the city too so we could walk around.

Great location, close proximity to main streets and attractions, very walkable. Room with no view for three days was a bit of a bummer, rate incredibly high, therefore value for money low.

Location was great. Nice place. Friendly. Restaurant on first floor. Elevators took a while — it’s fine, considering the price.

The staff was able to help us get a room earlier than the check-in time.

Great location! Well kept and the staff was great to be honest. Our room was cozy and very comfortable. After great days in Chicago it was really nice to come back to. Will be back Wish my room had a fridge but that’s it

Great area near shopping, restaurant, the river and navy pier. The hotel is old, but well maintained. Draw backs were no coffee area, however, there was a Starbucks and Dunkin’ around the corner. The bar closed at 9 pm when it said it was open until 10 pm. No where in hotel for late night food like pizza-even though they had people making pizzas in the lobby around dinner time. Staff was helpful and friendly and the hotel price was good for the area.

- 5/5
Excelente ubicación! La habitación muy cómoda! Lo recomiendo!
- 5/5
They did a good job I didn’t have any complaints about my room
- 2/5
The outlets did not work. One elevator was out of service and the other one was too slow. Location is the only good thing
- 5/5
Hotel is in a great location! We were on the top floor and we had no issues with the elevator, despite it being down the first day. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. AC is loud so if you are a light sleeper like I am, bring ear plugs. I would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
Only one elevator was working during my stay, which was frustrating. There was also a stain on the sheets, but housekeeping changed them immediately once I reported it. Overall, the hotel was okay, but I personally would not stay here again.
- 3/5
Ok for short term, can’t turn off AC which made constant clicking noise and flushing the toilet sounded like a jet engine. Other than that location is what sells it.
- 5/5
The stay was very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly. I would definitely stay at this hotel again; the location is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable, and best of all, the rooms are spotlessly clean, which is really important to me. The only thing we hope they can improve is the maintenance of the lifts; the wait seems to go on forever because they have limited capacity and are very slow, and incidentally, one of them was out of service.
- 5/5
Went to Chicago for a long weekend and this hotel was an excellent place to stay. Amenities were basic, however the room was incredibly clean and quiet! The location is right in the middle of everything you want to see in the city making it a breeze to walk to all the sites
- 1/5
The rooms also had no proper noise insulation. We could clearly hear sounds from the streets, hallways, and neighboring rooms, which was very disturbing and made it hard to rest. On top of that, the AC was making a lot of noise throughout the stay. Very few amenities and poor customer service overall. Definitely not a pleasant stay.
- 5/5
Very beautiful area many things in walking distance
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay! Would definitely stay here again, only thing they did not have was tv with Netflix but that didn’t bother me too much.
- 4/5
The hotel was very nice. It is older. The rooms are small. Kind of like European. No microwave. But the bed was comfortable. Bathroom also was very small but shower was good. Just be aware of what you are getting. It’s not roomy.
- 4/5
Convenient location with nearby restaurants. Room was small, but comfortable. TV schedule was all messed up though so hard to find channels. Also the desk outlets were dead.
- 5/5
The staff was super helpful and the rooms were super clean
- 3/5
The staff was great and overall the hotel was okay. But the room wasn’t properly clean, hair that was not ours was in the bed and all over the floor. Also the property’s main entrance doesn’t lock and it’s not secure so anyone can walk in, which is scary in downtown Chicago at night.
- 5/5
No body lotion in the room but there were makeup removing wipes
- 4/5
We had a great stay. The room was on the smaller size, to be expected, but very clean and tidy. The staff is friendly and check-in and out were very simple. The only thing I will note about this property is that you can hear pretty much everything that happens in the hallways, including the elevators going up and down at night. It was bearable, but something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper. Overall, a pleasant experience, and a great value.
- 5/5
It's an older building and the elevators tell you so. It's well maintained and very clean. The room we stayed in was on the smaller side but it had all we needed to sleep and get ready for day activities. It's the location! Right on the magnificent mile. You can easily walk or catch mass transit to enjoy the sites. Lots of restaurants to choose from, even one in the hotel. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. When going to visit family again in Chicago, I would stay at Hotel Saint Claire again.
- 5/5
Showed up early but they were kind enough to allow me to go ahead and check in. Greatly appreciated.
- 5/5
Excellent and friendly service, clean, convenient, and comfortable; thank you!
- 3/5
Hotel website doesn’t tell you how small and cramped everything thing is
- 1/5
It was never fixed
- 4/5
Great locations. Clean rooms. NO breakfast or fresh coffee. Lucky multiple starbucks are nearby.
- 4/5
Good location, staff was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are a little small but served the purpose.
- 4/5
This was a great location in downtown and pretty decent room. Only 1 elevator was working majority of my stay and it was pretty slow. Overall I was satisfied though.
- 4/5
I also want to give a shout out to the front desk staff because I left my favorite owala water bottle in the room and didn't realize until we left the state. They found the water bottle and were able to mail it back to me so quickly. I would choose to book here again and again just for that alone.
- 5/5
Great hotel, location and VALUE!!
- 5/5
Staff were helpful. The room door was not very soundproof, we could hear other guests laughing and talking at night.
- 4/5
Staff is very helpful and friendly
- 5/5
This hotel is small and quaint and serves the purpose. This is my second stay there. The staff was excellent and the location can’t be beat. This is a bohemian hotel and fits that perfectly
- 5/5
The hotel was clean. My only complaint was that the beds were squeaky.
- 4/5
Well located to access public transportation. Pretty no frills, but OK.
- 5/5
Staff was very kind . Hotel was walking distance to many different locations.
- 5/5
Good accommodations
- 5/5
We didn't get breakfast, I dunno if they have it. The people were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and squeaky-clean. Nothing fancy, but a nice place.
- 4/5
The faucet is too old and worn out.
- 3/5
Staff is awesome room was clean, wish ther was breakfast though. Don’t use the washer and dryer unless you have a very light load, don’t put sweat pants and a sweatshirt in, took three hours to dry.
- 4/5
Elevator is the only problem just need two more .
- 4/5
Our stay was fantastic. Staff were helpful, room was clean and modern, hotel was in a great location, and in suite temp controls worked very well. My only complaints are that the elevators are incredibly slow (max of 5 people per car too!) and that the rooms were very noisy. Every sound made in the hall felt like it was being beamed right into my room, including the elevator going up and down. Even with a towel under the suspiciously large door gap (easily 2 inches). Otherwise, great stay!
- 2/5
Also at about 4:15 in the morning there was an entire group of people just screaming at each other in the Halls. I'm sure I wasn't the only room to hear this yelling and this was not also something that they stop took any interest in in offering an apology for the extreme and lengthy middle of the night noise.
- 1/5
Staff was rude
- 5/5
Very helpful and friendly staff, great location. Room was small and a little basic, and the elevators were a bit slow and crowded, but overall a very positive experience.
- 3/5
Also, the room set up. The beds are super close to the wall in entryway so it makes it awkward to navigate. They need to make an adjustment. The sinks are super small with no room to really lay out your toiletries if needed.. The thermostat in my room in particular did not work even though a worker came in and tried to reset it and it was 40° in the room was reading 69° with no heat. Nobody came during the entire weekend to change the bedsheets to give us change switch out the trash. There was also no ironing board or iron in our rooms. Photographed shows robes in the rooms. There are no robes in the room. Everything we needed every time we had to calm down for them to bring it up.
- 3/5
Comfortable bed. Hair in bedding and tub. Cistern leaked with toilet flush. Sink awkwardly positioned between shower and toilet. Staff were responsive, but I felt like I was bothering them. Gym was nice with large TV and never busy.

Nice clean European style hotel in the Magnificent Mole Area just north of Downton Chicago. helpful staff and immediately adjacent to Northerstern Hospitals, including Laurie Children’s Hospital. Nothing fancy, but clean, great location and easily available coffee and dining.
- 5/5
Concierge staff was super helpful and allowed early check in. The room was neat and tidy. Super close by some points of interest
- 3/5
The hotel is basic and old window did not open.
- 3/5
The staff was friendly and the room clean and modern at check-in, but the valet was not convenient, defeating the purpose of a valet - we were told by hotel staff we could do a late valet, but when it came time the valet only took cash which late in the evening meant we had to go into the basement of a nearby building to an ATM that was hard to access and we had to ask staff from the other building to help us get in. It's 2026, I don't know why a valet wouldn't take cards or be able to bill to the room. Also, the bathroom vent didn't seem to work and the room was extremely muggy when we checked out - when raising this to the staff, they mention that during renovations all the vents were disconnected. Seems like a recipe for future mold problems.
- 4/5
Clean room, staff was helpful
- 5/5
I honestly love this stay. I thought my room was newly remodeled because it was so nice, spacious and so clean. I would 1000% stay her again. I also love all the walkable food options. Great location.
- 5/5
Staff were super welcoming and it was a great stay for the cheap price paid.
- 5/5
would come back.

- 5/5
Restaurant is good. Staff polite and helpful. Convenient
- 4/5
The HVAC was annoying AF. It would go on and blow cold air for 10 minutes, then be off for 15-20 minutes repeatedly. It is so loud, it kept waking me up through out the night. As a short person, I did not like the fact the bed was a challenge to get on top. Not everyone is five feet tall.
- 5/5
Excellent room & staff. There was a wait at the elevators - 2 small elevators for guests & housekeeping. But not a dealbreaker.
- 4/5
The hotel was quaint and perfectly located. Loved the modern take on an older building. Really good bang for your buck! Wish we would have had time to check out the restaurant to try the food and grab a drink. The only downfall was just the slow tiny elevators. But that’s what you get for an older building so we didn’t truly mind at the end of the day
- 5/5
They don't have breakfast but they are surrounded by businesses that serve great breakfast. The staff here is beyond Great service.
- 4/5
Clean rooms, small rooms, small elevators. Friendly and helpful staff.
- 3/5
Location Good
- 3/5
Arrived and the check in agent was eating. Took her a moment to even acknowledge us. Got to the room and it all seemed okay until we can back after dinner and noticed the fan unit we left cooling made the room smell faintly like someone peed in the unit. Also the built in electrical outlets on the side tables did not work. Had to unplug them and move furniture to get to the actual outlet. When we did that we found crackers on the floor. Overall the stay was less than we expected it to be. It was a convenient location and fit our budget but could use some better cleaning and maintenance.
- 5/5
The hotel has done some renovations in the hallways and it looks so much better. The room was very clean, and the staff was very helpful and professional.
- 2/5
Because it’s a budget hotel, young people stayed here and were extremely loud.
- 4/5
Booked a superior room but I needed to check in earlier for a event I was attending and was provided a standard room right away. Be

Street noise with often sirens due to hospital proximity. Pricing was appropriate for the space. Adequate for a brief stay at NMH.

Our closet hanger thing broke so we had to live without a closet. But the rest was fantastic. Great area. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 3/5
It said it is prohibited to smoke but some guests did smoke -and not cigarrettes :(-
- 5/5
Nice, clean, and quiet hotel. Staff was super nice and the bed was comfortable. Will make reservations again!
- 5/5
Clean room, accommodate staff and the best part is they have microwave in the room.
- 4/5
Good location , room was small clean. They were sold out of rooms with refrigerators and weren’t very accommodating on moving me when one became available. Staff makes quite the noise in the morning time but overall it was a decent stay ..
- 3/5
The staff were pleasant. The hotel is on the smaller side. The elevators held only five people but with bags maybe 3. My first room had two windows blocked by buildings so we asked for another. The second room had a better view but the entire floor had a smell that unfortunately was in the room as well. Floor was dirty, desk was sticky and the towels had all type of stains. Shower door was hard to move and came off track. I booked because of location and the rate but don’t think I would stay again. Oh and I saw someone making a pizza and while cutting he used his bare hands to separate the slices because it was so hard the pizza cutter wasn’t working.
- 4/5
Love this location
- 5/5
It was a great location and around so much. I wish it had a refrigerator. It’s small but it’s nice for 2 people per room.
- 5/5
The rooms are small but clean and have everything you need.
- 5/5
Nice staff, clean rooms, however elevator is slow
- 5/5
Great location, comfortable beds, great staff. Very pleased.
- 4/5
I stayed here with my 11 yr old son for the weekend. It was perfect for what we needed.
- 5/5
Every single employee we interacted with was genuinely friendly and helpful. Suggestions for a better stay: larger wastebaskets in the rooms, and bathroom doors that offer true privacy and a lock. Our sliding door was squeaky, wouldn’t close all the way and had a big gap between the wall and door. Also bummed there was no coffee bar in the lobby - please update your home page! Otherwise a great stay and would return.
- 5/5
Perfect stay, convenient and fast valets service, amazing staff!
- 5/5
Everything about it was good love my stay
- 5/5
This was perfect for a night in the city! Great all around and will stay again. Great staff at check-in!

- 5/5
El hotel tiene perfecta ubicacion si vas a conocer la ciudad o de compra o quieres comer. Las habitaciones estan acorde al precio y tiene instalsciones utiles como el gym. Lo recomiendo.
- 2/5
Extremely noisy. Would not recommend.
- 5/5
Front desk people are out of this world, they are here for the customer.
- 5/5
The staff was informative and kind when we checked in. Everyone we left or came back. They greeted us or asked how our trip was going.
- 4/5
Overall a very good experience. Bed was comfy. Staff was great.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay!! Staff easily accommodated all my needs and my room was very spacious for my solo trip.
- 5/5
Wonder stay
- 5/5
Room was super clean and hotel was convenient. It was VERY noisy being so close to the hospital.
- 4/5
Room was clean but there was hair on the towels. It’s a great location for what I payed for. There are only 2 elevators for the whole building, so plan on waiting. Very small sink, no counter space. Also there is a hospital near the property, so expect a lot of ambulances, cops, etc.
- 3/5
Staff needs to get familiarized with the parking accommodation on site.
- 3/5
Very small room, small bathroom , has no space for luggage and walking around. Paid extra for Parking. Does not deserve a 4 star
- 5/5
LOVED this property. Please don’t listen to the negative reviews. I looked this place up and down before booking. It was a great location and close to Public transportation and food . I saw comments complaining about the room size but honestly it was perfect for a couple. Rooms were SUPER clean and staff was very nice as well. When we asked for extra towels they gave us 4 extra towels and washcloths. Check in was also super easy we just swiped our card and received room number no long check in time. I would recommend for anyone.
- 5/5
Great overall, elevator is very small and takes a minute to use but there is a stair case! Room also was smaller than anticipated but overall great stay! Staff was very friendly!
- 5/5
Great location and a very high class hotel.
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff, and a great price!
- 4/5
Location was ideal. It was walking distance to many attractions and eateries.
- 5/5
The staff was kind, the room is clean, overall awesome! I would recommend
- 5/5
Yes, the hotel was very clean
- 3/5
Location however is great, close to a lot of things and great options to eat or shop at.
- 5/5
Great location! Staff was wonderful. ER hospital is near by so lots of ambulance sirens at all hours. Everything else was perfect.
- 5/5
Lovely rooms, great food nearby.
- 4/5
Great location close to everything. Clean, friendly staff , good price. Only negative was the street sounds, lots of sirens as it’s near the hospital . It was better at night however.,
- 4/5
Clean room. Staff super friendly.
- 2/5
untidy rooms, noisy
- 5/5
staff and location outstanding. Clean room
- 2/5
Good location, but not sorry Good environment
- 3/5
The hotel lobby is small, but cozy, it always smells really nice. The service is okay, nothing over the top but pleasant nonetheless. Beware the hotels near a hospital and sound proofing is not great, so there are many sirens keeping you awake overnight. We also had the room closest to the elevator and it was a little loud as we could hear every person going in and out of the elevator. The room itself is also much smaller in person than what you see online, not tiny but still smaller than the average American Hotel room. I will give extra points for location, if you want to be on magnificent mile, it’s absolutely a terrific location. The elevators are small (fit about 5 people), there’s only 2 so there’s a bit of a wait. We kept looking at Hotel Riu plaza next door and it looked amazing and roomy in comparison to Hotel Saint Clair. Honestly, for a 4 star experience, I wouldn’t say it meets expectations but it’s better than a holiday inn. Overall okay beds, not super comfy, but clean. For the price, not bad.
- 4/5
Staff. Room service location
- 1/5
The rooms were incredibly small, with very limited space to move around comfortably. The water in the shower took an unreasonable amount of time to get hot, which was frustrating after a long day of traveling. To make matters worse, one of the only two elevators was out of service. With just two elevators in the building to begin with, this made getting to and from our room on the 16th floor very difficult and time-consuming. The elevators themselves were extremely old and very small. My husband even read the inspection notice posted inside the elevator, and the last inspection listed was in 2023, which did not provide much reassurance. The lobby was dark and uninviting, lacking warmth or appeal. Once we finally made it to our room and opened the curtains, we were met with a brick wall directly outside the window. The second window offered the same lovely view — another brick wall. There was virtually no natural lighting, which made the room feel even more cramped and dull. To top it off, the floors in the room were visibly dirty, which is simply unacceptable at any price point. Overall, this stay was frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances.
- 5/5
Clean room, lots of space and AMAZING staff!
- 4/5
It's a bit cramped but it's clean and affordable!
- 5/5
Cleanliness; value in an expensive city; convenience to cafes, food, groceries; cheerful staff (mostly).
- 5/5
Everything amazing
- 5/5
Clean room, beautiful old building incredible views! Very nice staff! From front desk to housekeeping, and maintenance!!
- 5/5
Clean and newly renovated
- 5/5
We really liked the hotel, the service and the location.
- 5/5
Good
- 1/5
The bathroom was dirty, and the elevator on weekends is literally awful — it takes forever to get one, and it’s very small. The room felt old, and it was supposed to have a mini fridge, but there wasn’t one. The chair in the room was damaged, and although the hotel advertised a gym, it was out of service. You also have to go downstairs to get ice. There was even a small blood stain on the bathroom door. I definitely would not recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Nice hotel for affordable price. Also close to everything
- 5/5
Yeah....... I loved this ROOM very MUCHO........ And they have a lot of Restaurants and lots of Businesses all around this Saintly Hotel........ Super Great
- 5/5
Loved the location. And the staff was very accommodating.
- 5/5
Visited here twice now. Check in was quick, room was clean. Price was right.
- 5/5
friendly staff, clean room
- 4/5
The location is amazing everything downtown, shopping and attractions are within walking distance which made getting around super easy. The hotel itself was very clean. My room and the overall facility were spotless and the environment was quiet, which I appreciated. The staff was wonderful very respectful polite and helpful throughout my stay. Service was definitely a highlight. One thing to keep in mind: the rooms are on the smaller side, and the elevators are very small. Only about five people are allowed at a time, so if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling with a group be prepared to wait or take the stairs. This hotel feels more suited for business or short stays rather than families needing extra space. But overall it was a clean, comfortable stay in a perfect location, and I enjoyed my visit.
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 5/5
I so love it and I love the service nothing is wrong about it I will give them a 100
- 5/5
Room was clean, bed was comfortable and easy check in. The best part was location for me since I had a family member at Northwestern.
- 5/5
The staff are amazing!
- 5/5
Staff was super nice and helpful. I will say their front doors are super heavy LOL
- 4/5
Yes
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable room. I had a nice time at the Saint Clair Hotel.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff, secure building. Definitely nothing fancy but a really good budget option if all you're doing is sleeping. No breakfast but it says that, I just didn't read. Also had a decent view from our room.
- 5/5
Great location. Warm comfortable rooms
- 4/5
Nice people, efficient stay.
- 4/5
Every thing was great from the room to the staff.Even the guests in other rooms were kind and respectful.
- 4/5
Love this hotel right off mich ave however woke 2 mornings at 6 am by spanish speaking hiyse keeping man with walkey talkie on load woke me from a dead sleep
- 5/5
Didn’t eat breakfast
- 5/5
Awsome room. Clean, well maintained, comfortable. Hotel great location. Really enjoyed the stay!
- 4/5
Not sure if the management has been changed. Upon entering the room I called the front desk for a possible upgrade as the room seemed smaller than on the third party app. The receptionist said no. Then I asked if I could get some hangers because there were none. She said I could come and get them from the front desk. It seemed the staff were more willing to chat than to help. The coffee shop ´remained closed. Despite location proximity, standard King/Queen rooms came with no desk nor chair.
- 5/5
room was great and staff was helpful
- 2/5
The air quality in the room was very poor, with a strong smell of marijuana throughout the night. Soundproofing was inadequate, making it difficult to rest. In addition, the heating system was extremely loud, comparable to a rocket launch, which seriously disrupted sleep. Overall, the stay was disappointing.
- 5/5
My stay at Saint Clair was wonderful love the staff room was great I will definitely come back
- 5/5
Alicia at the front desk went above and beyond
- 5/5
I didn't get any breakfast I did not know they had breakfast any one did not tell me but my state was okay
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
Clean and staff was kind
- 4/5
This was a last minute booking and everthing went very smoothly. The staff were great and the beds we comfortable. The location was great!!
- 3/5
Shower had little to no pressure and the hallways were extremely narrow. Getting a bell cart to our room was challenging. Housekeeping was knocking on our door telling us to leave before checkout.
- 5/5
Room was small, but what I expected from a boutique hotel in a historic building in downtown Chicago. Room was clean with a really comfortable bed and good sized shower. Plenty of dining options nearby- had a great burger at Beatrix nearby.
- 3/5
They was having issues with heat and it was very very cold outside.
- 1/5
I was unpleasantly surprised staying here this weekend. My friends and I all booked a room for the holiday with the same accommodations. However, my room had significantly less amenities and space. As soon as I opened the door the bed is right there barely enough room to turn around. The sheets and pillow cases were bleached and stained!! The threading was coming off the lamps! I had no designated closet area just a few hangers and again I have two rooms to compare mine to. Very dim lighting, I felt my room was a dungeon in comparison and I paid the most for my room. I am super disappointed by this. I spoke with staff and nothing changed. I couldn’t even get a change of sheets and I spent almost $400.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious and seemed newly remodeled. Bathrooms were small but they had extra wall shelves and hooks which was nice. Lobby is quite small.
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff
- 5/5
Staff were very polite and helpful with holding our luggage to explore Chicago. Our rooms were clean and the location of the hotel was perfect for us. The hotel helped to make our stay in Chicago very exciting for our family.
- 4/5
No in room refrigerator, very small room, one window needs replacing causing the room to be very loud at night but nice and clean

I came into town to visit with some friends and attend an event, unfortunately I fell ill on the second day of my trip but the hotel was a nice place to rest and recharge! Service was excellent, and everyone was so friendly. You truly cannot beat the price and the location.
- 5/5
Staff was great checking in and the room was clean!
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable hotel!

I was there for four nights and the first two nights, the TV wasn’t working. And for 3 nights the heat wasn’t working and they finally switched me to a different room. The manager said they would refund me 1 to 2 days then when Hotels.com try to reach out to them, they never replied back.
- 5/5
The hotel was clean. The staff was courteous. The room was a little small, but I wasn't surprised. The location was extremely convenient.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Staff was welcoming.
- 5/5
Great staff great people
- 5/5
Very nice
- 2/5
The guy working at the front desk when we got there on Friday was not welcoming at all. The cleaning staff walked in our room Sunday morning while we were sleeping which really made my wife upset. I’ve stayed at multiple hotels in Chicago and this one was by far the worst experience I have had.
- 5/5
It was an easy and fast check-in/checkout. Clean room and very welcoming staff.
- 5/5
Front desk staff is by far one of the BEST in the greater Chicagoland area!
- 5/5
Our room was very clean and updated. Quiet and conveniently located to the Mag Mile! Check-in staff were very friendly.
- 3/5
Room was clean and cozy, but the bathtub did not drain at all. Luckily only needed 1 shower, and were so tired we didn't bother to ask for a different room. Woke up the next day, water never drained. Also, I paid a premium for parking which seems like something they could do better on as well.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 5/5
Staff is always the Greatest you will ever have!
- 5/5
nice and cool hotel
- 4/5
Good location. Staff friendly. Room small. Hallways noisy. But location, conveinence, and staff make up for it.
- 1/5
The room is too small and old and the heating system was too noisy that I couldn't sleep. I requested making up room that wasnt made up.The water draining didn't work. The worst experience.
- 5/5
Clean room. Nice location.
- 5/5
Everything was fine. The room was nice and stepping out into Chicago was made better by the location.
- 5/5
The room clean, heapful staff. Will stay here in the future.
- 4/5
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
Almost tired of saying this but the staff is perfect!!!!

Front desk staff extremely helpful with bags at checkout; very firm, comfortable king-size bed; quiet, even though on the third floor; and a clean bathroom.
- 5/5
No complaints
- 4/5
Excellent location and good place to sleep! Comfy beds and nice staff! The place reminds me of an on-campus apartment place. Outdated a bit and beat up some but very clean and does the job just fine!
- 3/5
Overall the hotel was decent for a 2 night stay. I will say the room was very small and there was no view. There also black hair on the bed. I’m not sure the sheets were washed. However the room itself did seem like it had been washed.
- 5/5
It was pretty good and the front desk Nate was a cool and super friendly
- 5/5
My second time staying. I love that there is no deposit like mosy hotels. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful. Great value, will be back.
- 5/5
Thank you guys

Always clean and quiet
- 5/5
Offered washer, dryer, and vending machine. Staff were very kind and helpful! Great location and room!
- 5/5
It was a good stay but only downside was that the towels looked a little dirty but still overall it was a good hotel.
- 5/5
I have been staying at this hotel for years for business and personal stays and this is easily one of the most professional staffs that I have ever had the privilege to meet. The rooms are super clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
.
- 4/5
Location was great during my stay and I appreciated valet parking available.
- 4/5
Room was clean, beds were comfortable and staff was nice and attentive. Parking situation with only valet isn’t the most ideal.
- 5/5
I love how it smells in the lobby! Room was to my satisfaction. I highly recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly and hospitable staff, great location!
- 5/5
Great stay in a great area.
- 2/5
The AC was not working, and my room was 60°F on my first night. The front desk initially only offered me a blanket. It was only after I said I would sleep in the lobby because it was warmer that they offered me a new room. Unbelievable experience that left me emotionally drained, especially after a long, tiring flight.
- 5/5
Clean room, nice staff
- 5/5
Excellent room. Small but ideal for our stay.

- 5/5
Great location very clean
- 5/5
Clean room, staff was so nice and helpful.
- 3/5
It was just a very cramped room and no view. Cost was very doable. Staff extremely friendly.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff, clean, however rooms were a little dated
- 5/5

Very friendly staff
- 1/5
the room was very small no dresser or anywhere to put clothes did not stay there rented new hotel
- 5/5
The room was very very clean. The reception staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Great area - clean safe .
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff
- 2/5
There were 0 amenities, got called out for asking for water bottles? But mainly it was the rooms. They weren't updated as in now they're nice, they were updated as in they painted and threw a TV in it. Horrible thin windows, you could every honk, every siren everything. There are gaps under every door soadeive you can literally slide your hand underneath them. Just extremely unimpressed for this hotel
- 5/5
Great value!
- 5/5
Never had breakfast. But the hotel bedroom and bathrooms were very clean.
- 4/5
Price and location. Add restaurants n bar
- 4/5
Nice spot. Convenient
- 5/5
I know the staff here at this hotel and they are the BEST in the industry! Very good location as well.
- 4/5
sort of a good location as it is central to everything, however it is near a hospital and you will hear the blare of sirens all night long. The windows do not do a very good job of isolating the noise. Very clean but small bathrooms. overall a decent value for the money.
- 3/5
Very small room. Not in the best condition either. Neighbors were very loud and hall smelled like cigarette smoke. Small elevators. Linens on the bed were clean.
- 5/5
Very clean, great location, seconds from fabulous shopping and restaurants.
- 3/5
Room was clean.
- 4/5
Neither the restaurant or coffee bar were open while I was there luckily there's plenty around that's walkable.
- 3/5
Not great not terrible. Small rooms
- 4/5
Very clean and convenient hotel. The room as very small though, no place to sit besides the beds, hardly any room to walk. I paid for 3 people, they should have given me a room that reflected that extra payment
- 5/5
Small room with limited amenities but perfect for a quick one-night stay.
- 3/5
Hotel was very central to a lot of things. Allowed us to have early check in. Didn’t get a chance to try it but the restaurant attached looked nice and had good reviews.
- 4/5
Property was available for last minute booking and conveniently located downtown near Magnificent Mile parking. Valet service was quick. Expensive, but quick. Very clean. Very small. Elevator only holds 5 people, less if you have luggage. The room was very small and bathroom smaller! Although I think we may have been in one of the larger rooms! There is an unusually large amount of space between the bottom of the room door and the floor. After a certain time of night no one was available at the front desk for assistance or valet. Walking distance to Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks! Overall, it was a good stay.
- 5/5
Nice rooms, spacious and celan, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast had a god variety of items and overall very good.
- 3/5
Claimed the rooms were still getting ready before provided no information on connecting to WiFi
- 5/5
Clean room, nice place to stay
- 5/5
Nice place. Very large. Plenty of parking. Staff accommodating.
- 4/5
Great location and nice rooms.
- 4/5
Clean room, but too small for the price, & no parking lot. You have to pay 72$ for a valet, I know they bring your up to you & all that but really , no breskfast ( just coffee is not a meal); & no dining room to set down & talk before you check out.
- 5/5
We loved the location. The staff was great. We valet parked & told the valet we needed to leave early. When we came down to check out, our car was already in front of the hotel waiting for us. It was the perfect little get-away. Close to everything.
- 1/5
The pictures of the hotel do not tell the story. The rooms are small. The bed takes up the r tire room. The bathrooms are small. No chairs to sit in. The elevators only hold 5ppl max. The restaurant was the only true accuracy in the pictures. I will never stay again. Definitely gave me red roof in vibes.
- 4/5
The hotel needs to revise its description on various travel internet sites to indicate it no longer has an operating coffee bar. Also, it needs to clarify that the restaurant only serves breakfast and brunch on the weekends.
- 3/5
Had room with no windows onto the street, basic accommodations in a good location.
- 5/5
Quick and easy check in. Nice stay
- 3/5
Great location, however one of our windows in our room wouldn’t close all the way so it made it very loud being by the hospital. And if staying with someone, I hope you’re close because you can see straight to the toilet with the door shut! Otherwise, great location, friendly staff, clean.
- 5/5
Very nice convenient place to stay .
- 4/5
Enjoyed our 2 night stay. Only negative was that our room was not ready and we arrived after check-in time.
- 4/5
Room was so small that you can’t move around easily
- 4/5
Hotel St Clair is located in a very convenient area of downtown Chicago. It is very close to many shops nearby if you want to do some retail therapy. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Overall, I really enjoyed staying here for my birthday trip. I will be back soon!
- 5/5
I love the boutique style hotels. The elevators are slow. But we managed. Rooms are clean but tue hallways are old and kinda creepy. Rokms and service were excellent. We would definately stay there again. Perfect location to everything.

We loved being one block away for all things shopping! Everything we did was either walkable or a quick bike ride. Hotel Saint Clair was such a beautiful place to stay. I will most definitely be staying at this hotel again
- 5/5

- 5/5
Friendly staff!!
- 5/5
Nice sized rooms, comfortable beds, and a delicious attached restaurant
- 5/5
We loved our stay at Hotel Saint Clair - it was a family vacation and the hotel is in a perfect location when visiting Chicago. It's not a huge hotel, part of a chain, which can be a little cold-looking. The lobby isn't huge, but comfy. The staff are incredible! And the rooms, while varying in size, are well appointed and easily accessed. Nora restaurant, accessed from the lobby is wonderful - lots of great things to order, a fun bar, and great service
- 5/5
Great staff! Clean rooms. Was a small bathroom however.
- 5/5
Clean room, spacious,clean bathroom
- 2/5
The room appeared clean but my partner and I woke up the next day with bites all over us
- 3/5
The building is a SLIVER of a property inside and out. The overall tight space, doesn't translate on their site photos. It was uncomfortable as someone who is claustrophobic. The entire property is clean and felt safe tho. The lobby is comfortable and cute. Elevators are slow, small and only allow 5 people at a time. 5 people with no luggage, mind you. Vending/ice/laundry on only one floor. This wasn't much of an issue because we got ice during light elevator traffic times. This hotel is two blocks away from a hospital. Our 1st nite was horrifically sleepless because sirens went by every 20 minutes. By some miracle there was only one the 2nd night. Our window was not permanently closed, that allowed sound to come thru more. With the exception of our 2nd nite, I don't exaggerate when I say you will hear sirens all day and possibly all nite here. The valet runners were wonderful but it's expensive. We used it our first 24 hrs. On our 2nd night I used the iParkit garage just a 30 second walk across the street. Overall we made due with the discomfort (life experiences, ha!) The staff was friendly, kind and attentive so that made up for a lot. The location was fantastic for going out and walking and doing touristy things. I cant say I recommend this hotel, I wouldn't stay here again. If you're not sensitive to small spaces or excessive noise this might be ok for you. No hate for Hotel St. Clair, just not for us. Peace!
- 3/5
The room was ok, it was small and the bathroom was really small. There is no counter to put your toiletries on. You walk in the room and you are already at the bed.
- 5/5
Great room and great help at checkin with Gus!
- 5/5
If your not driving it’s a 5 Star (have to pay valet
- 3/5
Nice cozy hotel close to all restaurants but lot of noise in the nights with ambulance noice all through night making sleep difficult
- 2/5
Run down, slow elevator,
- 5/5
The rooms are a little small and could use another horizontal surface or two to place things, but it's great value and very convenient.
- 2/5
When we finally got to our room, we were quite disappointed. It was right next to the elevator, very noisy, and nothing like the photos we had seen while booking. The sink was oddly placed outside the bathroom, the room was very small, and overall cleanliness was poor. There was hair on the floor and in the bathroom – clearly not cleaned properly. The only positive thing about this hotel was its location. However, next time I visit Chicago, I’ll definitely look for a different hotel where good service and cleanliness are taken seriously.
- 4/5
The hotel location was great. Right around the corner from Michigan Ave. The rooms are very small. Just be prepared for that. Other than that, it's a great place for a short stay.
- 3/5
Had a barrel full of trash two feet outside the elevator door on our floor for
- 5/5
Was a perfect hotel for a concert downtown. The location was great and it was big enough for my needs. I could see how it wouldn't be a good size for a big family but 1-3 people it was perfect!
- 3/5
I like that the hotel was literally "a whisper a way" from the mile. Other than that The room is tiny. All you will do is sleep and bath
- 4/5

- 4/5
The double bed room was quite small for a family stay with two little kids. Everything else is good.
- 4/5
Nice hotel ar Magmile. Price-wise excellent for a room at this location. Pleasant staff. Room not too spacious, but everything one needs.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and in a good location. It’s close to a lot. Only issue I had was the hotel hallways might need a bit of renovation but the rooms were great and comfortable. Seemed clean
- 2/5
Tiny room more like a cell Two windows look out onto brick walls Bed creaks loudly Air con is very loud No TV remote Phone has no dialing tone Front desk was not helpful Feather pillows- requested them removed beforehand, due to allergies- when I asked the front desk manager said “I don’t think they’re feather, we’ve had no complaints” They were feather. No decaf coffee pods Housekeeping next door to the room was noisy before 7 am.
- 4/5
Elevators a slow and tiny, so patience needed for going up/down
- 5/5
Our family loves this hotel! The staff is outstanding, the rooms are very comfortable, valet parking is so convenient, and the neighborhood is close to everything downtown & has the coolest vibe. We can't wait to go back!
- 4/5
It's in a great spot, and the price isn't bad! Plus, the staff was cool!
- 4/5
Friendly staff and all of the amenities were fairly clean. Elevator is a bit outdated so it takes a while to get up and down. Door to my room wasn't flush with the ground so light from the hall gets in and it's very easy to hear noise in the hallway. Also, my room had 2 windows, one facing an alley surrounded by other parts of the hotel/other buildings and the other directly facing a brick wall. So I did not get as much natural light in the room as I had hoped for. But overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend for solo travelers for the price compared to other hotels in the area.
- 5/5
Great Hotel, excellent location, close to everything
- 5/5
My stay at the St Clair Hotel was great. The genteleman that had checked me in and worked the coffee bar in the morning was a gem. He was very helpful and had a lovely supportive personality.
- 4/5
It didn’t have a free parking space
- 5/5
We booked a double king room while in town for a family emergency. The room was clean and comfy, and the staff were absolutely amazing. Having a cafe in the lobby was so convenient on those early mornings. Close to Northwestern and Mag Mile. Will absolutely stay again, thanks Hotel Saint Clair!
- 1/5
Mi was fooled by other reviews. It is trash. Not worth saving $10-20 to go elsewhere
- 5/5
it was clean, and with in walking distance of many restaurants, and transportation.
- 1/5
dirty hotel, bad service, horrible horrible horrible
- 4/5
Convenient location. Reasonable room
- 5/5
Definitely coming back here again
- 5/5
Close to shops
- 5/5
Hotel was clean and conveniently located to nearby attractions. Easy walk to navy pier and riverwalk, one block away from magnificent mile! Staff was nice and welcoming.
- 3/5
The bathroom sink would automatically fill up like if it was clogged. Made us feel comfortable with every use.
- 4/5
Updated, the rooms were small but adequate. Quality above the price point
- 5/5
Amazingly easy to find places to eat and shop. Great staff and very comfy beds
- 5/5
Good hotel close to dining and shopping on Michigan Ave. the staff was friendly and helpful at check in. The hallways and some facilities are a little outdated and the walls are thin, but worth it for the price and location.
- 4/5

- 5/5
Great stay, great location very convenient! Staff were kind and helpful, rooms were clean. Great hotel for a great price.
- 4/5
Todo muy bien
- 2/5
Great location but dirty. My room had ants and the towels were filled with someone else’s hair and black stains.
- 4/5
This is a nice place to stay in for a decent price. I hit the gym. Small but will get the job done. The staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurants are eight there. I liked staying here
- 5/5
Nice property…bed was very comfortable and a lot of activities and sights are within walking distance. The elevators can be crowded at peak times. The lobby bar is very nice and a variety of restaurants in the area. River Walk area very close by and subway stations are 10-15 minutes walk away as well. Enjoyed my stay there and would stay there again.
- 5/5
Very conveniently located. The staff was friendly during check in and check out. No issues whatsoever. Room was comfortable and spacious. Loved it.
- 5/5
Great staff! The hotel isn't fancy. But the staff, location and price really make up for it. So very friendly and extremely helpful. I booked our room for the wrong night and the worked it out for us even with a better price! Also on a busy weekend with the Air nd Water show going on.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a great location!! The hotel was clean and the room was updated nicely but the room was small. There was myself and 3 teens and it was tight if you had bigger suitcases it would be hard to move and difficult to get around the beds. The beds were comfortable the shower was good but weak. I loved the price of the hotel room so you get what you pay for but it was good overall. Very safe and very close to everything. You needed a key to get the different floors.great safety. We used the gym and it was great! Navy Pier, Michigan Ave were very close! I would definitely stay again for the price.
- 3/5
Tge overall stay was average. There was nothing wrong visibly. The air conditioning was on cold. We couldn't turn it off. The room got so cold the heat had to be turned on. The unit had some type of malfunctioning. That left a uncomfortable night
- 5/5
Great staff, friendly atmosphere
- 5/5
Great value friendly staff
- 5/5
Had a wonderful time there, the staff was very attentive and the Coffee Bar was excellent. Having the Restaurant Nora on Premise is an A+, Happy Hour, Lunch and Dinner is Fantastic. I highly recommend the Hotel St Clair for anyone to stay. I hopefully will be back asap. Thanks
- 4/5
Had a great stay! The area is very walkable and convenient!!
- 5/5
Amazing experience!
- 4/5
Handsome old building, well located to Michigan Ave and Streeterville. Fantastic coffee shop in lobby. Loud door closes could be fixed by management/ownership. Elevators are limited. Great value for the price.
- 4/5
Conveniently located just off the Magnificent Mile. Perfect for a one night stay. The twin beds room was a bit cramped but had the amenities you need. It is within the medical district so there will be plenty of ambulance noise but you expect that in the city. Overall well priced for the surrounding community.
- 5/5
Very convenient, well priced atay
- 5/5
Very nice hotel.
- 2/5
The floor was sticky, there was no warm water in the shower, the room was humid, amd there was a powerful bleach smell when we first entered the room. But the front desk was helpful with bar and restaurant suggestions.
- 5/5
The rooms are small, but sufficient for a tourist to Chicago. If you come to Chicago you really only need a good bed and a place to sleep comfortably. There is so much to do close to this hotel it is all you need.
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
The room felt smaller than what the picture showed. The elevator was tiny and had a limit of 5 people. However, the location and staff were great!
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location. While the rooms are not big, they are clean, and good enough for a decent stay. The best part is the service, especially the ladies in the front desk (they are very kind and helpful).
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful, and the room was smaller but clean and tidy. I will stay there again next time I am in Chicago.
- 4/5
Liked Will...he helped us find parking and dinner
- 4/5
very little natural lighting from windows because of building. always seemed like it was late evening.
- 3/5
I didn't like there was no parking , and no tv
- 5/5
Only criticism would be the in room coffee maker, which I could not figure out how to use. But that might be on me!
- 4/5
The AC unit went out in our room 3 times. The engineers were outstanding. Quick to respond and they did the best they could. They ended up living us to another room because they couldn’t get it fixed. The front d so staff were great for the most part. It’s definitely an old hotel and they do the best they can.
- 4/5
The slow elevators was the only problem, they did fix my window immediately when asked... The bed was not bad for rest,, no bed bugs found,,, the walls are very thin so everything you hear.... other than that it was a safe place to stay while being in Chicago... A little pricey but thankful for being there.
- 5/5
great staff
- 5/5
It is unique and affordable and the staff is very friendly. The room was exactly what I needed, comfortable and clean.
- 5/5
My go to place when in Chicago. Small, convenient, great location and superb staff
- 1/5
Unclean-terrible smell-walls cracked/dirty-room unavailable 1.5 hours after check in tine
- 3/5
A small high turnover budget hotel.
- 5/5
We loved the price and location of this hotel.
- 4/5
Difficult to pull up and unload luggage—limited pull up space and no one to help you with your luggage. Location is why it’s worth it. Staff was nice. Reasonable price for area.
- 5/5
The property located in the most busy area of Chi town, one block from Michigan avenue with all the high end shops in one place. Walking to every other stores and dining options ,entertaining around the property. However it’s not a quiet place for anyone who looking for a quiet sleep, I can hear so much noise at late night from my room on the back of the 4th floor. Checking was smooth, quick and good rate for a couple of nights in town.
- 5/5
The staff were some of of the kindest i’ve ever met. The room was relatively spacious and clean but the soundproofing wasn’t great you could hear the ice machine and doors slamming late at night.
