Reviews
Guests generally have a positive experience at the hotel, appreciating the cleanliness, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. However, there are recurring issues with noise, lack of amenities, and problems with parking and front desk service.
- Clean and spacious rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Noise issues, including thin walls and disturbances from other guests
- Lack of amenities such as microwaves, ice machines, and smart TVs
- 3/5
Understaffed, and a bit noisy.
- 5/5
The Ivy Hotel is in an excellent location with wonderful customer service! Rooms are very clean and have a modern decor! Would stay here again!
- 5/5
Overall, superb hotel and would definitely return
- 1/5
Don’t book this. No refunds
- 3/5
The Hotel was just "ok". The room was just "ok". The bed was terrible, very uncomfortable. The shower was the best part of this hotel. Although very slippery, the water pressure and temperature were amazing.
- 4/5
The staff were amazing and we got to sit at the bar and chat with them for a bit. They gave us a lot of insightful info on the city and were extremely nice and funny!
- 5/5
Always love the Ivy Hotel and always a good choice!
- 3/5
Location is excellent but the property needs a refresh. Cabinets are worn and tired. Bed is comfortable but a little low to the ground for me. They claim a restaurant but the front desk told me that they have frozen entrees that they put in the steamer for the meal. Fortunately, there are a lot of good restaurants within walking distance.
- 5/5
Spacious rooms with nice in room amenities.
- 5/5
Everyone was super nice upon arrival and check out. If we needed anything or even food suggestions, they were very helpful. The hotel itself is very clean and well kept. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who visits.
- 5/5
There was one desk worker who was not very nice and not helpful when we asked her things. On the other hand, the gentleman working the front desk was above and beyond amazing to us. Super helpful, very friendly, gave us so many ideas for places to go and places to eat. He was always so friendly no matter what time it was. Definitely made our stay so much better!
- 1/5
Our experience was awful. I believe we may have had the worst room in the hotel and we paid top dollar. There was a homeless person sleeping outside our second floor room and the housekeeping was also in that floor so the door opened and closed all early morning and day. The last night our neighbors were insanely loud from 1am until 3am. I tried calling the front desk but there was no answer on the room phone or my cell. Staff said the rooftop hadn't been open in 3 years. This was supposed to be a special trip but this hotel ruined our stay. I wish I could give zero stars. Stay away!
- 0.5/5
The room was fine, my initial impression was good. When arriving early, the girl at the front desk let me leave my luggage and return later for check-in. Once returning, I was met by a guy at the front desk who had already downgraded the experience from the first interaction, with a slight arrogance. 20$ fee for a package delivered to me from a business partner - fair enough, a bit much, but I would not let that ruin the stay. After the stay, I have contacted them multiple times to receive an invoice for the stay, since it was a business trip; however, I have so far only received an invoice for the package handling. Professionalism from the person handling the after requests is close to 0. It is laughable at this point.
- 5/5
Location location the best not too congestion but everything in walking distance Nothing
- 0.5/5
I like the room All night party, people screaming at 3 am. No reaction from the hotel. You charge premium make it comfortable for all guests not only for these who wants party 24h a day
- 4/5
Great location, huge room very very quiet. Restaurants at other hotels were close by as were coffee shops. You had to park around the corner yourself, which is sometimes a challenge in a big city but easy directions. Coffee in the lobby would be nice in the mornings.
- 5/5
This place was amazing! It was incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated and convenient to all that Chicago has to offer.
- 4/5
Clean room, spacious room , amazing location No thing it is perfect
- 4/5
Carlos was a great host!
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
We enjoyed our very nice room and great location, close to Navy Pier. Would be nice to have coffee/tea available in the lobby in the morning. But we will gladly return.
- 5/5
The location was excellent and made it very easy to explore the area and enjoy everything nearby. The bathroom was spacious, comfortable, and well designed. The shower was absolutely wonderful, with great water pressure and plenty of space, making it a relaxing part of each day. The room was very comfortable.
- 4/5
Room and staff were great! I wish there had been a microwave and smart TV since the TV selection was so slim. Loved the bathroom even though the technology in the mirror did not work. Great location, walking distance to many things!
- 5/5
Great Hotel and Location. Rooms were huge!
- 4.5/5
Amazing space, comfortable with great amenities. Location was more than perfect. Could easily pop back in the day as needed to drop off shopping, grab jacket etc Rooftop wasn't open. Would have loved some pics from the top!
- 5/5
Everything was great! I accidentally put the wrong dates and they were very accommodating.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
This was a wonderful experience, I will definitely book again.
- 5/5
The rooms were very nice and spacious; decor was nice ; hotel staff were very helpful when it came to certain request we needed! Although I booked an accessible/mobility room; there was no shower chair inside room, when I called down to the lobby it took them an hour to locate a shower chair for my friend who is partially disabled and uses a wheelchair. I was given complimentary late check out for the wait.

Clean and comfortable room at a great location. Highly recommend! Will stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique property with spacious clean rooms. Staff was professional and accommodating, big thanks to Francine for offering complimentary early check in. So many food options within walking distance of property. Great location! Would stay here again
- 5/5
Good ……..,,……….,,,,,,,,……………………….
- 5/5
The location was perfect. The room was so big and the soaking tub was awesome. The property is aging a bit, I.e.broken tiles on bathroom floor, mattress not the best, couch a bit tired, but I would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
The bathroom lighting was not sufficient
- 5/5
The room was superb, enjoyed it to the fullest. Not much, the blinded wall as a view could have something intriguing but it’s only a view. The room was excellent.
- 5/5
I stayed in a suite. Gorgeous large room with great amenities. Staff kind and courteous.
- 3.5/5
Location and rooms are very nice There is no gym in the building.
- 3.5/5
There is no gym in the building.
- 5/5
beautiful hotel, conveniently located, wish it had an on-site bar/restaurant but everything is right around the corner.
- 5/5
Happy with our stay!
- 5/5
Good
- 3.5/5
The location and the size of the room was very good. The doors are not remotely soundproof. My room was outside the lift and I could hear everybody coming and going the whole time I was there. The staff also need a really good lesson in how to be friendly. During my entire five day stay, I’m not sure that I got a single smile or hello from anyone on the front desk. Smiles and a greeting are free guys! I’ve never experienced a hotel where you walked past the receptionist and they completely ignore you. The downstairs area is a bar, so you feel bad sitting there and working or anything if you haven’t bought a drink. Overall, I didn’t think this was great value for money and I probably wouldn’t stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location, Parking garage is a 2-minute walk. Michigan Ave shopping very close and coffee & food is nearby. Staff very friendly and hotel is like a boutique vibe-will stay here again!!
- 5/5
Great location, clean room, comfortable beds. Love this hotel and will stay here again and again!
- 1/5
The stay was terrible the room was very dirty underneath the rug the bathroom still had old hair inside I checked in and 3 hours later I checked out that’s how bad I didn’t wanna stay there or even feel comfortable I lost 733 dollars in a little to 24 hours of how long I was suppose to be there
- 4/5
Very good
- 3/5
Pleasant
- 5/5
Outstanding facility, location and personnel
- 5/5
Outstanding facility, location and personnel
- 5/5
Parking is helpful to pay for if you’re driving rather than flying, trying to find random parking spot somewhere on the street and having to park far anway and carry your items. Rooms are as designed, our stay was absolutely amazing I have already booked another stay for my next vacation I can say you will not be disappointed!
- 4/5
Clean room. Staff nice.
- 4/5
Rooms are clean, spacious and modern decor. But not that sound proof and could hear the loud conversations from the next room clearly. Very inconvenient during the nights when you are trying to get some sleep.
- 5/5
Very convenient luxury stay in the heart of downtown.
- 3/5
Parking lot around the corner from hotel, very narrow garage. The rooms were clean, but the room 1301 the AC didnt seem to work. Didnt use the bar, didnt really see anyone using the bar either.
- 4/5
Clean spacious room, great city view, amazing bathroom, friendly staff, great location
- 5/5
Everything was amazing from the check-in with a smile and “Happy Birthday” to the room being clean, snuggled off in a corner, which was a plus for me. The check out was easy and the young lady at the desk was nice as well. I’ll definitely be back.
- 5/5
Great Stay, definitely recommend to visitors, not the best view from the 4th floor room I had, but great overall stay and experience, close to lots of stores. Very helpful staff!!
- 5/5
Great place close to everything
- 5/5
Did not drive
- 3/5
The parking is down the street & kind of an inconvenience.
- 3/5
There was hair in the shower. The staff was polite but not necessarily friendly. The hotel itself was a great deal smaller than expected. Location was excellent.
- 4/5
Our stay was very nice, rooms were pretty warm, AC not so good.
- 5/5
Perfect location to get to several eating and shopping places. The tub was the main attraction, very big and super relaxing. The separate shower really was a plus! Bed was super comfy which caused us to sleep in late. Will definitely be back if we visit the city again!
- 4/5
Staff was absolutely lovely and made the stay a real joy! Furniture in our room was dated and worn, and overpriced snacks and bar in the room reduced counter space and no fridge to use during our stay
- 5/5
Excellent rooms, very helpful staff
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Everything was great.
- 2/5
The room was nothing like it is on line nor what hotel reviews from influencers..I was not happy with the room at all. Floor was not clean both days housekeeping clean room. Paid extra for rose petals/tea lights..For $77 i would have expected all over floor and tea lights every where! Fake flowers on bed only spelling out Happy Birthday..This hotel is over rated...King Bed is low on the floor horrible bed..pillows ! The beding was horrible..I will not be coming back to this hotel!
- 5/5
nice property
- 5/5
This is a beautiful and super convenient hotel. Cozy in feel but really nicely laid out rooms with plenty of space. And it smells good when you walk in the doors!
- 5/5
Great location. Michigan avenue very close. Plenty of restaurants close by. Staff very considerate. For example, I returned to the restaurant and my hands were full. A staff member noticed and not only called the elevator but accessed my floor (required a key card). Room was very nice. Surprisingly large with a separate living area and large bathroom.
- 3/5
We booked a room for 3 people. Upon arrival we learned that the third “bed” was actually a couch that did not pull out. We assumed from the pictures that this would be a pull out. Bedding was not in the room for the couch. When I requested bedding and went to the front desk to retrieve it I was given a pillow and 2 scratchy blankets. I asked for the sheets, as well. The gentleman asked why and I informed him that we didn’t want to sleep directly on the leather couch and would need sheets. He said lay one blanket on the couch and use the other to cover yourself. Not really what we had in mind so I restated my request for a sheet. He said he didn’t know if he had any and went to look. Came back with what appeared to be a duvet cover - which we were able to use for our purpose, but I still found it to be a bizarre situation. We paid for 3 people and it felt like I was inconveniencing him by requesting the proper set up. The next day I requested more sheets due to the scratchy blankets and housekeeping was able to bring 2 sheets. Unfortunately, this wasn’t our favorite stay in Chicago.
- 2/5
I couldn’t sleep any nights because the rooms are poorly insulated. I was next door to the room attendant’s closet and they continued to open and close the doors loudly the entire three nights I was there. Not a good nights sleep at all!
- 5/5
Nice place. Clean bog room
- 3/5
For the price paid I wish I received more. No gym or amenities. Not even a microwave so no need to bring outside food that you need to reheat. One staff member was friendly. Room was okay, kinda stuffy even with the air on. It’s not a bad hotel but based on what I’m used to when traveling, I wouldn’t return to this hotel
- 5/5
big beautiful clean rooms! stunning bathroom with a big soaking tub. staff was friendly! just stayed here for the first time this month & already booked a room for my visit next month
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
Spacious room and great staff
- 5/5
Thank you Ivy Hotel Staff!
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff was very kind, I like that there was an umbrella to borrow in the room, just enough space for all my stuff to go without the room looking cluttered. I wish they could stiffer or mop the floor everyday though
- 5/5
Nice hotel.
- 3/5
Room 802 smelled like cigarettes or cigars other than that the beds were comfy but they definitely need to upgrade the rooms.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful I will gladly stay again
- 5/5
Everything was great, a restaurant or on site would be the only addition needed, in my opinion. However, room was incredible and the bathroom was the best hotel bathroom I’ve ever used!
- 4/5
The person who checked me in was pretty terrible. I asked a question, having never stayed there, and he laughed at me. Not professional or helpful at all. Even the woman who was helpful really wasn't helpful. It seemed to be such a chore for them to do their job and offer customer service.
- 5/5
Very clean plesent I will return.
- 3/5
No valet. Small TVs. Slippery bathroom. Furniture very low to floor. Looks can be deceiving. Nice to look at but the function is off. I will not return.
- 5/5
Got upgraded to king suite
- 5/5
Room was clean and stocked. No noise heard at all. Everything was amazing!
- 4/5
I really enjoyed my stay. Parking was a bit much $61 a night. Room was so warm and inviting. I just wish there was a refrigerator and microwave so you can heat your food up.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 5/5
Such a cute hidden away hotel. Close to everything. Hotel was quiet. Our room was big, comfy and clean. Our bathroom was amazing!! Best shower ever! Will stay again in a heartbeat! Loved it all.. 💜
- 5/5
Perfect
- 5/5
Great location.
- 5/5
The room was clean plenty of space. Easy to control the temperature of the room. Shops and food are very close. Parking garage nearby I got one off spot hero cheaper than the one the hotel offers.
- 5/5
Clean room, staff super nice. Central air conditioning. Don’t have to wear about the noisy machines that sit right next to the window. In and out parking is nice
- 5/5
Clean establishment. Awesome staff. Peaceful stay. Close to everything!
- 5/5
Loved this hotel…room was so large and very clean. Awesome tv in the bathroom…we had the best experience.
- 5/5
Very clean and modern
- 5/5
Everything was smooth, excellent property in the heart of Chicago. Many restaurants and points of interest near by, all at walkable distance. The rooms are clean, well maintained and spacious. Highly recommended!
- 5/5
Staff were nice and helpful. Room was clean and I loved the bathtub! Location is great, within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and sight seeing.
- 5/5
Beautiful room/spacious clean conveniently located and competitively priced. Only down is no microwave but made up for with spacious soaking tub/& separate shower & separation of space in between room and living space not to mention motorized blinds and inspirational views.
- 5/5
5 stars
- 5/5
The room was neat and clean. The staff was very friendly and informative.
- 4/5
Clean & comfortable bed. Many eating establishments nearby.
- 4/5
Size of the room was great! Everything was very clean and nice…… But the tv. The tv was blocked from everything except the set channels they had. The HDMI ports didn’t work and the tv remote was barely responsive. Besides that the stay was great.
- 5/5
Our stay at the Ivy Hotel was perfect. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and nice. The room was clean, appealing, and comfortable.
- 5/5
Yes
- 4/5
It was nice but felt a little rundown/out dated.
- 4/5
Decent hotel located in the heart of river north. The big plus was the room size which included a small living room with a large sofa and a working station. While the place was really clean, it felt a bit run down with visible signs of excessive wear and tear (wood scratches, loose fixtures in the bathroom, etc). The price was decent for the size of the room and location.
- 5/5
Clean friendly staff love the decor
- 5/5
We checked in late on March 8 and Francine was so helpful!!! She was patient and professional while answering all questions. Our room was lovely. The location is ideal for parking, restaurants and sightseeing.
- 4/5
Bed was a bit soft as were pillows
- 3/5
That said, the hotel itself is beautiful and the property appears to be well maintained. I really liked the overall atmosphere and amenities. However, the negative experience during check-in left a bad impression, and because of that I’m not sure if I would choose to stay here again. I hope the hotel can improve the professionalism and customer service at the front desk so future guests have a better experience.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 4/5
Comfortable and clean
- 4/5
The rooms were clean but could’ve been cleaner. It was fine
- 3/5
Limited staff, expensive food products, great location. Older appliances. Economic choice
- 3/5
Place is Okay. The hotel agent at the front was helpful aside from that the room we got smelled really bad of smoke smell. We requested a different room which we did but I would say it still smelled bad. Wife has asthma and didn’t help too much. There is a decent size tub which we enjoyed. 2.5/5 for me
- 5/5
Room was very spacious and a few min walk from Michigan Ave.
- 5/5
The room was large and clean. It worked out perfectly for our visit to Chicago.
- 5/5
Great place I’ll be back
- 5/5
Beautiful place
- 5/5
gtrsy
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay very much! The room was gorgeous and huge, and the bed was super comfy. Carlos, in the evening, and the AM front desk person were super helpful.
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
The room was nice. Layout of a suite is a bit different as bedroom is in the middle rather than in the back with windows.
- 5/5
While the guy working at night seemed too busy to help, The morning lady was very nice. The hotel has nothing in lobby but a check in area and bar. No bathrooms except in rooms. We stayed in a two double.bed suite. The room was huge and had it's own bedroom and living room. The furniture was very comfortable but low to the ground. The bathroom had a huge soaking tub that my wife loved. The shower was incredible with a real rainfall shower head.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The huge tube!!! And great customer service.
- 1/5
I stayed for two days. The evening desk staff was wonderful. The decorum hasn’t changed in the last 8-9 years or so. This place definitely has one of the nicest bathrooms of any hotel around the magnificent mile. The stay was ok for the most part until I received a bill for a bottle of wine taken from the minibar upon checking out. I don’t drink alcohol and I feel as though this was taken after I left by a member of the staff if it was taken at all. I called to dispute the charge and the lady from the front desk told me that there wouldn’t be a manager there to report it to for two more days and pending an investigation “I might get it removed from my bill”. I guess my issue would be how would someone investigate this? The lady at the front desk went to the room to retrieve something I left 45mins after I checked out and the maid had also been to the room as well. If there aren’t cameras in the room, I feel as though I just got robbed myself. I will see if I can update this if it’s fixed but the staff stealing and it being charged to a customer seems pretty bad. This never happened here in the past.
- 3/5
I wish I would’ve had better photos to view the room I was buying, the layout was weird not having the bed by the window but you couldn’t tell that by the limited photos.
- 5/5
Gret time spacious rooms
- 5/5
Loved everything about it! Definitely will be my go-to hotel in Chicago.
- 1/5
Bathroom tub was dirty on arrival and tv nor air worked.
- 5/5
Very nice big rooms and awesome checking staff
- 5/5
Great hotel and comfortable rooms
- 4/5
Great looking hotel. Close to many restaurants and bars. Only complaint is that the front desk employee would need to improve his customer services skills.
- 5/5
Very clean and beautiful room
- 5/5
Enjoyed my stay! As a senior traveling alone, the hotel felt safe and cozy. No long winding hallways! The room was immaculate and nicely furnished. The shower was great!
- 5/5
Nice big
- 2/5
Hotel was clean. Parking was offsite
- 3/5
Great customer service with check in/out. The room was clean. Very outdated tvs (wasnt able to hook up the roku stick) couch sat very low to.the floor. Bed was a platform bed and we kept hitting our legs on the corner. Bathroom was beautiful; nice bathtub and shower (separate) however there was a weird red light in the mirror. Thr worst experience of it was the parking situation. It should be noted that you should drop your luggage and belongings off at the door of the hotel and then park which is around the corner in a separate parking garage. It was a big pain in the butt to get out of there and walk a block to the hotel with alot of luggage.
- 2/5
Someone barged into my room in the middle of the night because the staff didn’t realize the room was booked out. Could not sleep after that. Awful experience!
- 5/5
The property was very nice and clean. Staff was nice.
- 5/5
Over all it was great stay. Minus when we checked in, staff seemed feed up and it was noticeable.
- 5/5
Very nice staff
- 5/5
The location was convenient spot that was in the middle of everywhere I needed to be.
- 5/5
The entire vibe! I always enjoy the hot cocoa
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
The entire property was clean and beautifully decorated.
- 5/5
The rooms are amazing
- 5/5
Clean, beautiful room, HUGE SOAKER TUB!
- 4/5
This is our second stay at the IVY and unfortunately will be our last. It’s a BEAUTIFUL hotel, the rooms are amazing and comfortable and overall great. The staff… unfortunately both trips I had an issue with SOMEONE in staffing. (The night shift was super nice and friendly.) day shift both trips incredibly rude. I unfortunately would not return due to rude staffing, (and we did give it a second try as could have been a bad day for the staff members, but second time day shift was rude as well.)
- 5/5
Spotless room, nice minibar selection. Easy to control temperature. My only suggestion would be to have larger coffee mugs and liquid creamer. It was a close call with my K-Cup, and powdered creamer just isn't good. Other than that, it was a great stay - will definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
Room was fabulous! The staff was beyond courteous and fun to talk to! Very helpful with suggestions of restaurants in the area as well.
- 5/5
Great place to stay!
- 3/5
Someone next to use has their music on loud around 3 am and we could also hear people in the street. Also questionable mirrors-did the whole 2 way mirror check and my finger was touching. So was very suspicious. There was also some weird dark square in the middle of the mirror. I had high hopes of this hotel but was left with disappointment. Location was good and hotel itself was pretty but left too many questions lingering.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and nice. Very spacious and we
- 1/5
Terrible me and my kids had to sleep in the car because they don’t mention a deposit. Then they won’t even work with u they wouldn’t let it be the card I already paid with or cash this was our first time in Chicago and. That little thing right there ruined it for us I will contact the local news as well
- 3/5
Wish it had microwaves in the rooms
- 5/5
Second stay in 2 months
- 4/5
beautiful room, spotless very clean
- 5/5
My little family and I stayed in one of the suites, so beautiful, the view was amazing! The staff were very friendly , everything was top notch. We will most definitely be back.
- 5/5
Great staff! Very kind and accommodating
- 5/5
Housekeeping was amazing
- 4/5
Good room, good bathroom. Unfortunately room was only one floor up on the alley side of the building (no view). And it was garbage pickup morning, so a bad room location due to street noise & garbage truck noise. We’ve noticed that bookings thru hotels.com are in the worst rooms in general.
- 2/5
I booked a Suite at the Ivy Hotel Chicago for my friend’s birthday and requested special service prior to landing. I was informed that a bottle of prosecco would be $45 and room décor would be $35. What was provided was underwhelming and poorly thought out. They placed artificial rose petals scattered on the bed in a way that looked more romantic than celebratory. A simple “Happy Birthday” written with the petals would have been more appropriate. The décor also included only two artificial candles and a personal bottle of prosecco—definitely not worth the cost. The Suite itself was clean to a basic standard, but there was a noticeable amount of dust on the furniture, which is unacceptable for a Suite-level room. Another major issue was the hot water. In the mornings, the water barely got warm; it only became properly hot late in the evening. Our flight was delayed seven hours, so we didn’t arrive at the hotel until around 3:00 a.m. Upon arrival, we witnessed a very uncomfortable situation: two men entering the hotel with a young woman who was so intoxicated she could barely walk. The receptionist stated that the men did not come with her and that she likely didn’t belong in the hotel, yet did nothing to intervene or address the situation with the men. One of the men even yelled, “NOTHING TO SEE HERE,” before entering the elevator. This incident made me feel unsafe, and I was uncomfortable for the remainder of stay.
- 1/5
This was the worst stay ever at the Ivy. It was construction from 6am til I checked out. I haven’t got any sleep I’m exhausted.
- 5/5
The room was spacious, comfortable & spotless. The staff @ the front desk so so nice & helpful with excellent suggestions for places in the area. I especially enjoyed the shower & water pressure. The rainfall overhead was relaxing & the handheld was perfect the really get my hair clean. I will DEFINITELY stay here again!
- 5/5
Nice, little hotel, the old gentleman in reception is very nice and helpful. Highly recommend!
- 1/5
The room was not cleaned thoroughly. The hot water did not work. The guest next door were very loud, the walls were paper thin. Staff was very rude.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Just wish they had microwaves in the rooms and there was no gym or washer/dryer.
- 4/5
I stayed here a few years ago, and then again recently. It's still a nice hotel, however, the wear and tear is starting to show. That said, the suite with the luxury bathroom is incredible, however, the tvs in the bathroom no longer work. Great shower tho.
- 5/5
Great value for the location. Very attentive maintenance staff. Definitely will be back!
- 5/5
The room was clean, beautiful, and spacious. Very peaceful. Only thing missing from room was a microwave but everything else was well equipped for needs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Some restaurants in walking distance if desired to go.
- 4/5
Everything was nice just didn’t like that we had no microwave in the room
- 4/5
I always stay here when in town.
- 5/5
Very nice room for the cost. 2 nights at about 300 total during the cubs convention in chicago. Fantastic location. It was super cold but there were many good quality restaurants, shops, and things to do and all with in just a few blocks. Nice friendly staff, quiet and comfortable. Very small loby/bar area but the room was spacious. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Clean room, romantic getaway ,great service
- 5/5
Great staff, polite and helpful. Good Location

Beautiful room, friendly staff, great location. Highly recommend!
- 3/5
Room was somewhat in good condition the curtains remote was not working but the room was clean just wasn’t pleased with the fact that the site I booked on said breakfast and when we got there it was no breakfast and the rooftop was closed.
- 4/5
only thing I would say was there was a left over razor in the shower which lead me to believe the bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned all the way or inspected
- 2/5
The hot water stopped and there was nobody available on site to fix the issue. No notification was given for when it would resume or not, and it was freezing cold outside without hot water in the room.
- 5/5
Easy check in .fridge bar in the room with good price , also I enjoyed a relaxing moment in a fantastic bathtub.
- 5/5
Room was clean very cozy great location
- 3/5
Waited 40 mins for room to be ready. And
- 4/5
The staff was courteous. The suite was nice. The hotel, including the room, does have a strange smell.I searched it up and others have commented on that issue.
- 5/5
Nice staff and very clean rooms!
- 5/5
Loved the location close to everything. And parking was convenient but expensive. Had an issue with hot water but it was tolerable.
- 4/5
Room was spotless. Room was also modern and updated.. great amenities
- 5/5
My favorite hotel for a staycation
- 5/5
Great Room
- 4/5
Bathtub and the shower
- 5/5
yes
- 4/5
Convenient location and close to everything. Older building but well maintained
- 5/5
I love this hotel
- 2/5
Sheets were stained, bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were flat. Morning front desk person was not friendly. TVs were down out last night with no update as to when they would be fixed. Took almost an hour to get extra towels. 2 star hotel for a 4 star price
- 4/5
Room is fine. Bed is very low which is weird but it's comfortable. Technology fail as we had to wait in the lobby until key cards were make functional due to a software glitch. But Carlos made sure we were taken care of. Shower is nice. Location is great. Overall love it. Just couldn't give 5 stars due to the hectic check in.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing!
- 5/5
Great location. Spacious room. Great views. Quiet. Only criticism is that we found the bed to be less comfortable than we would have expected.
- 5/5
Fast check in, beautiful room, spa bathroom, and a great location.
- 5/5
Everything
- 4/5
Clean room
- 1/5
Good room and okay service but it completely ruined out stay when there was no hot water in the shower. It only got mildly warm. Called the desk at night they said they don’t know anything abour water not being hot. Same thing in the morning, had to shower with cold water before we left.
- 1/5
The staff was not friendly at all , there is no microwave, which was a li crazy to me it’s a tourist hotel so o was thrown off , had to keep calling for housekeeping to come drop towels Overall 3.5/10 ( only the scores because of the location )
- 5/5
Spotless
- 3/5
We arrived for a two night stay and chose the Ivy Hotel because of its proximity to Northwestern Hospital which was perfect. The room is big, comfortable with all the necessities. It’s a small hotel, only 6 rooms per floor. On the second night, the music from another room was extremely loud until 2am. We could hear talking and doors closing. It wasn’t coming from our floor so not sure where but it was awful.
- 4/5
Very spacious room! Great shower. Comfortable beds. Wonderful large windows. Staff were wonderful.
- 5/5
My 4th stay at this hotel and will not be my last, the front desk staff are a credit to this hotel.
- 5/5
Clean room, nice amenities (especially like the rain shower), very centrally located, and friendly staff.
- 2/5
Parking was a nightmare. No parking at the hotel, and the public parking garage was full. There was nothing to do at the hotel, and the "sky bar" was occupied with a group. The room was very nice and spacious, however.
- 4/5
It was nice 😀
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
The room was clean and spacious with great views. Hotel was close to shopping and walking distance to Navy Pier. Great restaurants nearby especially id you like Chicago's style pizza. Most importantly the staff is amazing.
- 3/5
Okay at best
- 4/5
Room was clean and spacious but we had no view what so ever. Location was great for walking anywhere downtown. Garage in & out parking was close and convenient. Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful. The staff were very helpful and the room was meticulously clean!
- 5/5
The place was great. We’ll stay here again!
- 5/5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ivy Boutique Hotel. The location was perfect — right where we wanted to be, with plenty to see within walking distance. The room was clean, spacious, and handsome. The bathroom was terrific, especially the big soaker tub (which really hit the spot after a blustery day of walking about). Staff was helpful. We always enjoy visiting Chicago, and would likely stay at the Ivy on future visits.
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Relaxing!
- 4/5
Room is very nice. Smallest one we’ve had in this hotel. But still good.
- 1/5
This hotel is not what it used to be it is not an excellent anymore warn down and not that clean
- 5/5
Great room. Great staff. Helpful and polite. Would definitely stay here again
- 5/5
Traveled with a friend and stayed one night- we both loved it! The room was clean and huge! Had a fridge which we both appreciated. Staff was friendly. Only complaint overall is there wasn’t very good lighting in the room but there were a lot of mirrors so that kind of made up for it - I note these things because we were getting ready for an event. 🙂
- 5/5
The room was clean, spacious elite hotel!!
- 5/5
My stay was a 10/10. Great location, amazing room! The room made the experience much better. I highly recommend
- 1/5
This was probably the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The mattresses on the beds are extremely worn, sinking very low into the bed frames, offering no body/back support, and we experienced significant back pain from sleeping in the beds as a result. The room was not the cleanest, the tv screen in the bathroom didn’t work at all, the automatic switches to open and close the curtains didn’t work. Then, there were some EXTREMELY loud, unidentifiable noises seemingly coming from the bathroom vents in the middle of the night??? This went on for hours. At 2 and 3 am, and woke us all up. We booked this room for peace, relaxation, and quiet, while my mother recovered from a surgical procedure, and received everything but. This was hoenstly a terrible experience. I stayed here a few times before, years ago, but the quality has significantly declined. I will not be staying here again. This hotel is “aesthetically pleasing” on the surface, but the true quality and “boutique” experience is non-existent. Not to mention we paid almost $300 for ONE night, for this. Never again.-
- 4/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Lovely room in a great location…highly recommended!
- 3/5
I don’t love how they store suitcases. They are not locked up, at the back of the main lobby or in the back hall where public restrooms are located. Bottled water is $6 each in room, TV is cable only with no streaming ability and no channel guide. Wood finishes in room are beat up and falling apart, mine had a wood grain sticker peeling off the desk area. Sheets were clean and shower was nice. Lobby is not one I would want to order a drink in, the same person checking you in is also serving you. There are better hotels with actual amenities for the same price. Not sure why this one is rated so highly.
- 5/5
Great room, good size, excellent staff and location
- 4/5
Room was nice in an amazing location.
- 1/5
I ended up checked out a day early They also didn’t honor my gold hotels.com membership status . & I have not been given a fund . I will not be staying there anymore..
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable. Great room.
- 1/5
We had no air and the staff said the best I can do is refund you and you will have it in 3-5 business days and you can find somewhere else to stay, Everything was booked, we bought the room back in June. I ask for fans, we don’t carry those. It 78 degrees and no fan no help just want to put us out.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent. Only issue was that the front staff was hardly ever present.
- 5/5
A quiet and luxurious staying experience. Close the shopping and restaurants in a convenient location. Wonderful check in staff. Got an upgrade too. Thanks!
- 3/5
Well located and clean and comfy overall although the room definitely needs looking at regarding the condition as damage, stains etc are very noticeable. Could hear noise from the hallways.
- 5/5
The bathtub is perfect for couples
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and nice. Room was very nice and perfect location.
- 4/5
Clean and convenient location
- 5/5
Staff were really helpful and the room was bigger than expected
- 3/5
No valet. Parking garage close but no in and out privileges. Furniture was very low to the ground. Marble slab in shower is very slippery and rubber bath mat doesn't cover the entire slab resulting in a possible falls.
- 3/5
The desk woman Francine was rude and seemed annoyed from the moment I checked in to the hotel to the moment I checked out. I go to the ivy all the time. The old staff were so much more nice!
- 5/5
So much within walking distance
- 5/5
Great place!
- 4/5
The hotel was nice and super close to a lot of shopping and dining options
- 5/5
Very nice hotel! The rooms are spacious, and everything is close by.
- 4/5
Perfect location, the front desk could not have been more helpful.
- 5/5
Thanks to Carlo and Francine's help, we had a wonderful stay!
- 5/5
it was great loved the bathtub
- 3/5
The location is convenient, but the lack of professionalism and poor service made the stay frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for comfort or a welcoming environment
- 4/5
Location was great. Room was spacious. Disappointed rooftop lounge was no longer accessible.
- 5/5
Great location.
- 5/5
Beautiful property and overall a great place to stay. However, check-in was delayed by about 30 minutes because the rooms weren’t ready due to no linen being available. Also, the front desk staff, while helpful, spoke very loudly when handling check-ins. A bit more discretion would make the experience feel more professional and private.
- 4/5
Great boutique hotel. The surrounding area is beyond fabulous. The housekeeping staff needs better training (they didn’t thoroughly clean the room before I checked in) and the front desk staff needs to be more truthful with the amenities and VIP access (the person who checked me in said the hotel didn’t have a bar/restaurant for me to receive my promo, but the person who checked me out said “oh we do have a bar”). Otherwise, I would definitely visit again
- 5/5
Close to the heart of the city
- 4/5
The bed in my room was super uncomfortable, everything else was great other than the maid leaving a cleaning rag behind after room service.
- 5/5
Not just clean, but a vibe as soon as you walked in. Reception was extremely helpful and we loved our room.
- 5/5
I had a wonderful stay I will definitely be back again.
- 5/5
The hotel has parking about a block away in st. Claire street for $61/ day. Bring ticket to hotel for payment. The room was updated. Waterfall shower, tv in bathroom mirror, remote curtains, fridge with mini bar, coffee in room and lobby, beds very comfy. Chicago is noisy all night, bring earplugs. Walking distance to michigan ave, about a mile to the bean. No microwave. Has a separate room with tv and couch.
- 2/5
Rude staff at the reception. Prioritized interacting with another employee and checking into their computer system over interacting with customers upon check-in. Did not allow check-in at 3 pm and did not offer luggage storage - we had to ask. Hotel is good overall, apart from the rude staff and no window in bedrooms.
- 2/5
Staff was nice, property is in of updating and remodeling things where coming apart and not up to part for the price.one of tvs in my room wasn’t working
- 5/5
It was perfect for a weekend away. Clean nice and spacious
- 5/5
Place was very cute, clean and safe
- 4/5
Clean room and lobby, the 4pm checkin time I wasn’t happy about . Otherwise great location
- 5/5
The bathtub had a pubic hair in it. There was no tea or travel cups. The bed was to squishy and could feel under it. Bouncy and noisy. Plus size women can't do that. Even for sex it is dangerous and noisy and u go thru the mattress.
- 5/5
I got a king suite. Everything is modern, comfortable and clean. The area is nice with reasonably close parking.
- 5/5
It was nice
- 1/5
The hotel room itself was beautiful and modern, but the attitude of the staff completely ruined the experience. The customer service was shockingly poor, you’d honestly receive better treatment at a roadside motel. The staff were unhelpful, dismissive, and gave the impression that they simply didn’t care to be there. I couldn’t wait to leave.
- 5/5
Reception open 24 hours which is nice for a Boutique Hotel. Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Beautiful and very spacious room with 2 queen beds. The sitting area is separate from the room. That is very pleasant.
- 5/5
Room was very nice including layout. Staff was pleasant and helpful
- 5/5
Rooms are clean and the hotel is well maintained. They stored my luggage before check in which enabled me to take in a Cubs game. They also stored my luggage after check out. Upon checking in , they gave me a coupon to a local Irish pub for 20% off. I choose a room that included a soaking tub and a separate shower. The living room and the bedroom each included a TV. The whole hotel room was approximately 675 square feet. The room would make a great apartment. All it needed was a microwave and a small stove. The hotel doesn't have a pool which wasn't a deal breaker for me. The area itself is very walkable with lots of restaurants nearby. Try Volare, an Italian restaurant right around the corner. If you never been to Chicago, the Streeterville area is very busy with lots of people walking around. The hotel is only a block away from Michigan Ave with lots of medium to high end shopping as well. My stay at the Ivy Boutique Hotel made my visit to Chicago very enjoyable!
- 2/5
Food option are really not available. No kitchen, no room service. Bed comfort was not great as it is tired and worn out. Pillows were not very good either.
- 2/5
Floor looks dirty, no free water, whole hotel has a bad smell,
- 4/5
Hotel is clean, staff is helpful.
- 5/5
Excellent location, plenty of room for 4 in the suites
- 5/5
The room / suite was super nice and had everything we needed. It was nice and quiet and the staff were super helpful. The recommended parking building was very easy to access and only a 2 minute walk. Only mild complaint was the mattress was a bit soft. (Personal preference:)
- 2/5
Hot water did not work in the bathtub and the bathtub was one of the main reasons for booking.
- 5/5
Check in seemed odd at the bar. The room was quiet, very clean & attractive
- 1/5
When my plane was cancelled due to weather and I wasn't able to get to Chicago the Ivy was unwilling to do anything. I understand its policy but I have stayed at places in the past that have been very understanding when something like this happens. I will not book again with them.
- 4/5
Room is huge!
- 4/5
Room was very nice and spacious, and the bath tub was just fantastic. The windows are huge with automatic blinds and the decor is beautiful. My only complaints are the outdated TVs, the screen that wasn’t working in the bathroom and the comforter that wasn’t thick enough.
- 5/5
Fantastic suite, which was a surprise. Large and modern in the heart of everything. Quiet, solid building.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Great location, easy to walk to Michigan Ave. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Outstanding, we loved it here both nights. This property does not have onsite parking or onsite restaurant per Expedia’s site. I parked around the corner in a ramp as my vehicle is a Nissan Armada & spaces are too tight for the ramp this hotel offers at $61 per night. We are both nights at Nora’s a block away it was so delicious & staff were wonderful!
- 5/5
Traveling back from Saugatuck with my grand daughter & her friend. Our stay was wonderful! Gentleman at front desk in the evening was fantastic, welcoming with superb communication & customer service skills. Room was exceptional! Best shower experience I’ve ever had at a hotel! Amazing water pressure (rain fixture & wand) in addition there was a lovely enormous soaking tub! Automated drapes, incredibly spacious luxury feel. Location was super close to everything important to us… Navy Pier, Beach, Butterfly House, shopping, Nora’s Restaurant and more!
- 3/5
We had three adults and were told that the couch could be slept on, but I had to ask for three extra blankets just to pad the couch to make it comfortable enough. There was not much hotel staff— but when we did request extra pillows and blankets, they were brought to us relatively promptly or we were giving them right away in the lobby level when we asked. Most of the front desk, staff was friendly and helpful, but one lady was very snippy and had attitude. There’s a rooftop deck, but it is closed to hotel guests because now they only use it for parties, which I thought was incredibly unfortunate to not be able to sit up there and work when it is not in use for private parties. Note that there is no gym. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, the bathroom was quite large with the sunken tub and separate standup shower that had a wonderful rain, head and strong pressure.
- 5/5
This was my second time staying at the Ivy and it was great. They were able to hold my bags before and after check in since my flights were early and late, and they gave me a complimentary upgrade. I was in town for a friend’s wedding, so it was nice to not have to stress about where I was staying.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were luxurious and comfortable. Will stay again.
- 5/5
Lovely room - spacious, clean, and quiet. I will definitely stay here next time I travel to Chicago.
- 4/5
Small and quiet. Nice stay.
- 5/5
Great location and hotel
- 3/5
Even though the hotel says there is a roof top bar and restaurant, there is none. The rooftop is only for paid parties. It is closed otherwise. There is not a restaurant on premise. To get early check in I had to pay $50.00
- 4/5
Room service is weak and the AC stopped next day we came and i called service desk and no one show up. The crew at the desk are super nice.
- 5/5
Great location. Large rooms.
- 5/5
Beautiful property 😃
- 5/5
With really friendly helpful staff
- 3/5
Good location, however sevice was poor and extremly loud in the roim
- 5/5
Everything was soooo nice
- 3/5
Front desk lady was nice but room service staff was really rude. I have requested for room service to 3 different people when whin i came back in my room room was not clean. When i asked for cleaning they said cleaning staff is gone for the day and after sometime when room service lady came she was really rude and was knocking badly on my door. It was really annoying.
- 5/5
Room was amazing! Staff in the lobby welcoming and helpful.
- 5/5
The property was clean and comfortable. What I would change is updating the TVs to smart tv and being able to warm up your food, other than that great stay
- 5/5
Front desk was very welcoming and hotel was beautiful
- 2/5
The TV in the bathroom mirror had a glowing red light yet no remote, and I had to call the front desk because I honestly thought it was a weird camera until they mentioned why I did not have remote or any information. I did love the soaking tub, but inconsistent service and limited amenities, especially during a weekend I suffered a heat stroke, will keep me from returning.
- 5/5
Our suite was exceptional: clean, modern & elevated. I would not hesitate to recommend it or stay here again. The staff was friendly, attentive & professional.
- 4/5
lunch was great there
- 4/5
Traveled For Pride, I originally am from the south suburbs of Chicago but i now live in Ohio. When I arrived it was a woman who came from out of country having some credit card issues, that pushed everyone's check in wait time til 30 minutes plus, which was frustrating after i had already been awoke for 24 hours (work then traveled) but once i was checked in everything was good, i didnt care for the small platform under the bed and wish it was a tad bit higher off the ground. The had complimentary tea and coffee but i wish their was more sugar and cream. Also i wasn't aware of the $100 per night incident fee so that was harsh on the pockets a tad bit. The housekeepers did a wonderful job every time they cleaned! Made everything looked brand spanking new. Check out was smooth and quick
- 3/5
The hotel is in the midst of a remodel, the rooms are dated and the lobby is not complete. No hot water in the morning for a shower.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The area is perfect to get everywhere.
- 5/5
Would love to have access to the rooftop, it was locked when I tried to get there. Would definitely stay there again when I visit next.
- 5/5
A great place
- 4/5
Very comfortable. Great location. Smallish size results in quiet room etc. Fewer amenities like lobby bar etc. but good value overall - especially in this area of Chicago.
- 4/5
The room was spectacular! The walls were very thin though - there was a wedding party at the hotel and I think guests from that were next door and yelling and screaming all night. Check in guy was not very friendly - only said maybe 3 words to us. The girl helping at check in was amazing though. The parking situation is AWFUL! The garage you have to park in is terrible. It’s also on St Clair street which is info they should put on their site so it’s easily accessible! Not a great view from our room, but this room was amazing. Bathtub and shower are on point!
- 3/5
The hotel seemed unfinished. There was a bar but it was closed. Restaurant that was closed. Wasnt ready for primetime.
- 2/5
Did not look at all like the photographs shown when booking. Would never stay here again, the rooms are frustrating. The room I was promised looked nothing like I got. The televisions in the room, there was 2, didn’t even have the same channels as the other. This hotel is okay, but the rooms are totally different from what was promised.
- 5/5
The king bed room was clean, spacious, and up to date
- 5/5
Always a go to for me when in the city. Super small but great service. Will be back soon for sure!
- 5/5
The suite was great. It was like a one bedroom apartment well designed.
- 4/5
The water in our room did not warm up:( curtains did not work properly. Our particular room was more run down than any other room I have experienced in this hotel from my previous bookings.
- 5/5
The Ivy Hotel was so nice! It was very roomy and had everything to make our stay convenient and special!
- 4/5
Very good hotel. Very limited on staffing. Bartenders checking in guests etc..
- 3/5
The most inconvenient part, however, was the lack of a microwave. This significantly affected our experience, as we were unable to reheat leftovers, ultimately making the trip more expensive than expected.
- 4/5
Great location, great service, loved the room.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, I would stay here every time if they had availability!
- 3/5
The suite was clean and the deep soaking tub for 2 was a plus but there is no food service, bar and restaurant is closed down.
- 5/5
We shopped Michigan Ave, walked to the Bean, Grant Park, State Street, Navy Pier We visited the Ice Cream Museum, Cultural Center, Apple Store Unfortunately the amenities at the Ivy Boutique Hotel were lacking. The Hotel does not have a pool, gym or restaurant. The bar in the lobby also doubles as the front desk. It feels awkward to enjoy a cocktail when guests are checking in and out. We were quite disappointed when learning on our arrival that the hotel’s roof top deck is only available for private parties. Despite these shortcomings, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chicago.
- 5/5
Nice clean comfortable
- 2/5
We have stayed here in the past which was great. This time the noise level was awful. Our room was next to the janitor closet and staff we talking and being extremely loud outside our door from early mornings until later at night. It was like they were in our room loudness. Front desk staff very friendly! Not sure if i would stay again after this
- 5/5
Easy check in and check out. Carlos was super nice during our check in .
- 5/5
Our stay was above and beyond what I would have expected. My husband let them know it was our anniversary and they brought us wine and had rose petals and candles for us! It was so sweet. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful and so nice. The place was so clean! It's also right off of Magnificent Mile so it's a great spot to stay. I would definitely stay again.
- 2/5
The fridge in room 402 was noisy all evening. Overall the room looked nice, and I really liked the overhead shower.
- 5/5
We had a great experience. The staff were very helpful. They held our bags until check in and again until our train came. They also gave us a late check out for a small fee. The place was very clean and very beautiful. The TVs were a little outdated but worked just fine. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.
- 4/5
It was fine. Good location.
- 5/5
We had an amazong time and the staff is so friendly. 10/10 eill stay here on my next trip!!
- 1/5
Room was super hot. Went to the front desk to let someone know. He pulled it up on the computer and said he reset it and it’s working. I told him the air coming from the vents was warm and not cool, but still insisted it must be working since the computer says it is. I asked what we could do if it’s not working and he asked me what I wanted, I said we could do another room and he told me there were no other rooms available. We were miserable that night, could barely sleep it was so hot. I talked to someone again the next morning and let them know the situation. They sent maintenance to look and they said it feels fine but let us switch to a different room. Asked them to change the return filter as it was clogged up and nasty. Tv in the bathroom doesn’t work. Shower door makes loud noises as if it’s going to break. Bed uncomfortable. Blinds did not work. Definitely not worth the cost, would stay anywhere else.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing and beautiful
- 4/5
Very large room. Clean. Great location, very walkable and close the L. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Staff was very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again!
