Reviews
The hotel has a unique and appealing decor, with clean rooms and comfortable beds. However, many guests have expressed dissatisfaction with hidden fees, lack of staff availability, and noise from nearby train lines.

- 5/5
Clean and family friendly once. Would be helpful if staff said the kitchen, game room and living areas were downstairs in basement. Everyone was having to find these themselves.
- 3/5
Bed was comfortable, floor was dirty, staff often not available.
- 2/5
Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, if you were able to find them. Drunk kids yelling in the halls at 4am. A room that felt more like a jail cell than hotel room. If you are looking for a hostel with zero amenities, you may like it. Otherwise, try someplace else.
- 4/5
Hotel was convenient and the room was very clean. Only issue was the hard floor that made things noisier than it might have been had there been carpeting.
- 1/5
The staff was never available. Beware! There is no Iron, no microwave, AC doesn’t blow well to it stays hot! Parking is high. The area is unsafe. I was supposed to stay for 3nights, I came in a 12am from Texas and checked out a 7am the next morning! Went downstairs to check out and guess what no staff! You will be on hold forever and routed to a Voicemail. Stay Away!!! I’m requesting a refund for my stay! Worst stay ever! And they are staying no refund?!! I will call the news on this place if I don’t get a refund.
- 1/5
We checked in shortly after 2:00 PM, got to our room 209, and noticed it felt oddly warm. Turned on the AC; set it to cool. Left to go about our day and came back around 8:30. Well, we walked in, and it was still absurdly warm. We could hear the AC blowing, but it certainly wasn’t cooling anything off. The thermostat had a nifty mode to let you see the set temperature, the temperature of the room, and the temperature outside. The set temperature? 64. The temperature of the room? 79. The outdoor temperature? 165. Yep. The AC was clearly broken. No worries. Should be an easy fix, right? This room doesn’t work, so let’s just move to another, right? Nope. We go down to the desk and tell the person at the counter. She tells us she’ll go check it right now and meet us up there. We go back to the room. Thirty minutes pass, and we haven’t seen her. I go downstairs to find her. About ten minutes later, she comes down and says she just fixed it. Give it ten to fifteen minutes to start working. My companion in the room tried to point out to her how the thermostat showed the AC was clearly broken, but she just “reset” it and said it would work now. 20ish minutes pass. Guess what? It’s not working. Still warm. The thermostat shows the same readings, including 165 degrees outside - an obvious sign this is broken. We go down to the check in desk. Again. We tell her again that we’ve waited. It’s not working. We’d like a different room. She says she’ll come check it now and fix it.
- 4/5
Everything was clean and well put together. Hotel staff were very helpful and kind. We arrived around 7:00 pm and our room wasn’t quite ready—while this can be a frustrating situation, the staff were able to hold our luggage behind the counter so we could go explore Chicago for a bit.
- 5/5
Everything was good!
- 1/5
Horrible service horrible hotel!! Cancelled my stay day of reservation via email while I was traveling. Staff was horrible and continued to talk on phone while I was waiting to check in. The clerk was rude to me and very unhelpful. Will never book at this hotel again negative stars!
- 4/5
Meantime the light in the bathroom was working next day, we had a good experience….
- 1/5
We had to leave cause the space was to small but the lady was nice we weren’t able to get a refund
- 5/5
Me encanto tal cuál lo que estaba buscando, parqueadero muy cerca y lugares geniales muy cerca, ame esperarme ahi
- 5/5
Great value - Liked young vibe
- 4/5
BUT be sure to enjoy the basement kitchen. Fully furnished for self-cooking needs. Great restaurant 2 blocks away, Grill 24. Highly recommended!!!!
- 5/5
Front Desk Staff was amazing , she’s the most sweetest person you’ll meet !
- 5/5
I had a nice stay at the hotel with my family. It was a safe area, and close to Michigan avenue. The staff was very nice. Though my room was next to the L track, it didn’t bother me during the day or night.
- 3/5
The staff was nice enough, I suppose, but you will hear the train all day and all night and the nice enough staff did not make up for that. Also, the elevator was out of service and there were no amenity options in the common areas that I noticed.
- 5/5
Great location near to the downtown , very clean place and their clean the room and restock the amenities every day
- 4/5
The desk isn’t staffed 24/7 and after arriving early morning to inquire about parking there until check in, had to wait until 1010 (clerk was late arriving) to talk to anyone. Ended up being told parking wasn’t available yet(we were early, that’s not a problem) and where to park nearby for cheaper than hotel rates. Clerk again wasn’t there for checkout the next morning, as they don’t arrive until 10. Had to do the checkout online process twice to get it to work, but was fairly simple. There’s a coffee bar advertised on the listing as well as photos of it, but it looked like it hadn’t been open for some time at arrival.
- 1/5
Unhappy with cleanliness of the hotel.
- 2/5
Maintenance poor, front doors wouldn’t lock properly, not all lights working, damage in room in. Small beds. I am 6 ft 1 inch and bed small and two short. Limited front desk staffing eg no one on desk at 9am in morning on several days. Was promised 3 times in writing by Hotel that would get Private Guest Club but this never happened despite multiple requests. Whilst towels were change regularly no amenities were refreshed or bedding changes over the 3 nights. A disappointment after having staying the previous nights at 4 fantastic hotels in major cities in the US . Made booking through Expedia who I have used for 25 years and the customer service was appalling. Highly recommend visiting Chicago great city just don’t stay here.
- 3/5
I appreciated the simplicity in the designs of the hotel and room. The staff was generally friendly and helpful when needed. However, there was a lot of noise from both the trains passing by frequently as well as loud arguing from other guests which carried into the room with minimal sound proofing. This made sleep difficult so we did not get much rest.
- 2/5
Room was dirty, the furniture in the sitting is umcomfortable. The rooms are directly next to an el track.
- 5/5
super clean and the staffs were helpful and friendly.
- 1/5
The fees posted here are a flat-out lie. When you check in (at 4, not 2 as posted here), you’re greeted by a surly employee and snarky signage about all sorts of extra fees. Walls are paper-thin, so you can hear everything (including toilet activities in other rooms). Be prepared to hear barking dogs and trains, too. Beds are super uncomfortable. Toilet paper might as well be sand paper. Coffee shop is never ever open. Desk is barely staffed.
- 1/5
Ant infestation in the bathroom. Stained towels and sheets. Rude staff. Annnnnd they kept my $125 deposit because not all of our trash fit into the tiny trash can in the room. They gave us a tiny trash can for a room that sleeps 6.
- 1/5
Il n’y a personne de minuit à 10:30h , l’hôtel est barré durant ces heures… donc si on arrive la on attend dehors sauf si quelqu’un dort et nous laisse entrer…
- 4/5
Kind and helpful staff, also nice place.
- 0.5/5
My room was not equipped with any towels or nothing to accommodate us no soap, lotion, nothing I definitely would not stay there again.
- 4/5
Was surprised there was a complete kitchen in the basement full amenities and very clean. The decor was very unique and cool
- 4.5/5
The lounge was closed and parking
- 5/5
Great stay! Close to all of attractions. I would stay here again 10/10
- 5/5
10/10 would stay here again
- 5/5
A very unique property in downtown Chicago area!
- 5/5
10/10, will be back!
- 1/5
At 1am somebody on drugs or drunk was yelling at the top of his lungs for over 10 minutes in the hallway and woke up my 70 yo Mom and I. It felt like staying at a motel. We didn’t feel safe and had a hard time going back to sleep.
- 5/5
Arrived super late, front desk person had left and nobody was able to check me in. A manager named Michael was able to transfer me to a sister property very close by and even had a slight room upgrade. Great staff.
- 5/5
Please ensure clients know of there being food and beverage availability in which buildings as there are two locations
- 4/5
Overall was good, but parking was not included with the room price, unfortunately.
- 1/5
try to use bleach and not over charge people who through a 3rd party
- 4/5
There is not bar and restaurant like the listing says. Staff was a little bit pushy and rude but easy to work with. Other than that it was super clean and a good location!
- 5/5
Right next to a train station
- 5/5
My room was cold the whole weekend I turned the heat up every 30 mins and it wouldn’t stay on. I literally slept in my outside clothes
- 5/5
Everything was great, will book again!
- 1/5
Inaccurate booking with amenities, dirty and noisy room, Naomi at the front desk was rude

The only complaint was the thermostat was not working and the parking could be nicer. Other than that had a great time and would stay again!

I booked a room with 2 queens beds but only received one and was told that I would have to pay more for another bed, the heat didn’t work they had to bring a space heater, noticed people from next door apartment building looking into room until I closed drapes, and the window view was literally a trashed alley
- 1/5
No vuelvo a quedarme en ese hotel el trato es horrible y son rasistas con los hispanos no se los recomiendo no gasten su dinero en ese lugar
- 1/5
This is my second time trying to post my horrible experience with both Expedia and the Chicago Hotel collection river north, but it seems as if they don’t want customers to know how horrible the experiences and how bad they’re scamming people working together to not give people their money back, or to move dates that the companies did wrongfully and would not change it because they’re money hungry let me just say I’m calling the Better Business Bureau on both the Chicago Hotel collection river north, and Expedia
- 1.5/5
Hidden fee about $100/night. Unacceptable
- 5/5
Nice staff very helpful
- 5/5
Front desk was the best we have had in a long time.
- 1/5
hidden charges not known until arrival at front desk. online booking needs to include this.
- 5/5
yes
- 4/5
Staff was amazing
- 1/5
Not a good experience. They charged us for extra things because one towel had make up on it. Staff came into our room in the morning at 9am when check out was at 12. Would not recommend
- 5/5
Very friendly staff
- 2.5/5
employees were nice small and pictures were deceiving
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 1/5
The heating in my room didnt work my entire stay there while the temperature outside was -7 degrees. It was 65 degrees in the room my entire stay. That just isnt livable. And everytime i tried to go speak to the staff about it, they were nowhere to be found. I also paid for hotel parking and ended up having my car towed because there is no clear signage for where hotel parking is. I paid for an upgrade and parking and was only left disappointed.
- 4/5
Great decor.
- 2/5
Room was fine until I noticed there was some well established mold clearly visible on the baseboards. The tile in the shower wasn’t done properly and water has been seeping through the wall of the sleeping area. When I went to the front desk the next day they said they’d send a cleaner in to check it out, which opulent do anything. The front desk seemed irritated when I asked for a new room and obviously don’t know how mold works. The room I was moved into had the same poor tile install and guarantee there is water damage in the walls too. Wont be back.
- 5/5
Room was great! Fun set up, clean, and modern. Front desk personnel was amazing and informative. Will stay again!
- 5/5
great
- 5/5
We rented two rooms for my daughter’s birthday day in Chicago. It was a great stay. Easy access to the metro. They helped me accommodate cars. Gave us unlimited coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Receptionist was super friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Came back the t
- 5/5
Awesome stay friendly staff!!!
- 4/5
The room was nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was excellent.
- 2/5
discount hotel meals offered only at other locations
- 5/5
Great accommodations for a group, at a nice price. Loved the decor.
- 5/5
The room was in great condition, the hotel was nice, and the staff was friendly.
- 4/5
The staff was nice. The room had a smell to it but it was comfortable
- 1/5
This was in a horrible location and it gives the appearance of human trafficking being part of their work.
- 4/5
However, the coffee counter as shown in the picture is permanently closed (we were really bummed about this) and we were also charged additional mandatory fees at check-in that we weren’t aware of while booking. Be prepared to add an additional $75 plus taxes /night to your stay when you check in.
- 5/5
The only 2 pictures I took from the place
- 2/5
This hotel backs up on to the train tracks and my room was extremely noisy. I also had trouble checking in and never really saw anyone on site the whole time we were there. There were also some weird things with the housekeeping, including not making my bed and only having the tiniest shampoo / body wash bottles. I don't know if it's a soft launch but it just wasn't great, especially given the price that we paid.
- 5/5
Good stay but really strange smell we couldn’t get rid of
- 5/5
clean room, parking situation was a bit rough and checking in was confusing
- 1/5
my water in my shower is cold and they tried to fix the problem however the water ran back cold after 5 minutes of being on. The staff said she could upgrade me but I would have to be charged an additional 20$ to upgrade. I have not received my security deposit of 125$ and an additional 25$ was removed from my account. I have been trying to contact hotel services and I keep getting voicemails.
- 1/5
I couldnt check in since i had lost my wallet. I expect a refund immediately for being turned away
- 4/5
Friendly staff, clean, the area is a little ducked off and my window was right next to the train. The vibe was art-deco chic. They charge a hefty fee toward daily breakfast and dinner and cocktail credits but all of the amenities are at an entirely different hotel—this was disheartening because since I was on limited time (work trip) I was unable to enjoy any perks and was out of $250 (3 night stay). When I did make time to stop for breakfast at their sister hotel, they closed breakfast an hour early (10am and the website said 11am). I wouldn’t call this place my first choice, but may benefit someone who has the time to bounce around and maximize their time and money.
- 4/5
Clean and nice fees are visible
- 1/5
This experience was bad, and it was bad mostly from hotel.com side, as during the booking it wasn’t mentioned anywhere that at check in you have to pay $50 amenity fee, $25 processing fee (with taxes on these fees). So be aware when you book a room here and verify the price.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
excellent. I encourage better advertising of the spot hero parking in the garage next door tho - super cheap and safe
- 3/5
Photos are misleading as the bar/coffee counter isn’t staffed/stocked. Cool vibes & decor. Starbucks and other services a short walk away
- 4/5
Good neighborhood, very trendy interior which is fun in common areas and the room. Well kept up, clean. The room needs more tables/a desk to set your stuff. If you are hyper sensitive to noise, this place is probably not the place for you. They have metal bed frames which can make noise if you are sleeping. The first room’s metal bed frame was terrible and we couldn’t sleep, but they quickly moved us to a room w a better bed frame that still made a little noise but we could sleep. I recommend the hotel just replacing all the metal bed frames with something else when they can. The hotel is 10 feet from the CTA train. They did a good job of insulating, but it still comes into the rooms on that side of the building as some white noise when the train goes by. We stayed here because of the location, lowest cost w good reviews at the time. That includes a required resort fee -$49 which is difficult to use as most of the discounts for meals, etc are not on-site. So basically you get 6 bottles of water a day and late check out for $50. Doesn’t feel worth it -bad optics just make it part of the room price w/ amenities included and no one would question you. The coffee bar/evening bar was shut down and front desk staff hours were limited-so it feels like they are short staffed-but not sure why. Mgmt practices just feel weird here. Overall a good stay and we would come back assuming they continue to be the lowest cost, cute hotel in a good location with good reviews. Not for everyone
- 2/5
The hotel was dimly lit inside with no activity. It is next to a dark subway station. Not sure if it was a safe area or not. I will not stay again at this hotel
- 1/5
They charge you double what you paid for the hotel on arrival or don't allow you to check in without listing this anywhere until Checkin. Staff were rude and unapologetic.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing. Front desk were the nicest and the cleaning ladies were so friendly
- 5/5
Great experience here, would stay again. Loved the bar.
- 2/5
It was okay. My husband had to descale the 3 keurig machines in basement the first morning and the 2nd morning there wasn’t any choices left for coffee. Our air conditioner wasn’t working so we told the front desk the first morning after sweating all night and they said they would send someone to fix it but never did. 2nd night was even worse with the heat. My husband went down to tell front desk but he couldn’t find anyone . There wasn’t good information on getting help with things. Not comfortable seating agreements and literally right next to the L.
- 5/5
Great property, unique and lots of communal amenities. Staff is so helpful and the rooms were basic, but exactly what we needed for our trip. You can't find many rooms for a good price that have more than one bedroom.
- 1/5
nobody likes surprise charges at check-in especially regarding resort fees when this place is the furthest thing from a resort!
- 3/5
We enjoyed our stay. It was clean and nice. Front desk was very helpful and kind. However, we were told it was $23 fee at the hotel after prepaying, but they charged me $83 for service fees and taxes. Very disappointing to have such a big extra charge. They said because I didn’t book directly with them, they have extra fees. 😥
- 2/5
Decor was interesting
- 2/5
Although the staff was helpful and friendly, it was an overall poor experience due to the old spring mattresses and non-functional air-conditioning.
- 1/5
So loud! Walls are paper thin. Limited staff, no breakfast available after they said it was.
- 1/5
Sadly arrived there to find that it is in a part of town that we didnt feel safe in and the subway runs right beside the building all night long. We ended up not staying and when i requested a refund for my stay they refused. Maybe this is how they make money. Keeping non-refundable reservations from people who dont know the area and have been mislead. Definitely will never go back there.
- 1/5
Not friendly
- 1/5
I worked for RCI for 6 years in the travel business. My job was literally to take escalations like this and offer exceptions to members who never asked for exceptions but might have made a mistake with a booking, or a life event came up that prevented them on going on vacation. It was a win for us not only did they continue booking with us due to good service, we would have them as amazing consistent customers there after. The fact that they did nothing and showed no sympathy was a clear indicator all they care about is money. I’ll be disputing this with my bank as well as the insurance company who offered purchasable insurance when it wouldn’t even work in the first place. don’t stay here!!!!!!!
- 2/5
Nearly every part of the game room was inoperable, just broken. The furniture around the hotel was sometimes broken and always looked like it came from a garage sale. No night stands or outlets where the nightstands should be. Just a few plastic cups in a suite with a kitchenette. Terribly uncomfortable couch with a TV that didn't and couldn't be pointed at the place you had to sit. We got a coupon for dining at a restaurant at their other properties across town. There is a bar on site that hasn't been used in months if ever. It was clean and the beds were comfy.
- 1/5
We were charged more in fees than we did for our actual hotel stay. We got locked into a nonrefundable deposit and then we couldn’t leave and we got charged over $250 on the day of check-in and then we got charged an additional $375 on the day of check out all in hidden fees. For most of our stay, the staff was nowhere to be found. Our bathroom mat and towels had holes in them. It says that there is a restaurant and a fitness center and there is neither. There is also a train running through the side of the hotel that shakes the lamps in the room and is super loud. Pictures didnt match hotel. Definitely edited
- 2/5
Hidden fees, no water or coffee in lobby. Nothing in lobby!! No breakfast, no food at all
- 4/5
I really like the location and the place. I really recomend it
- 1/5
Nothing about this hotel was as advertised!!! The surrounding neighborhood was dead and mostly under construction. The on-site coffee bar/bar had gone out of business and wasn’t in use. The gym was only two exercise bikes, surrounded by all the laundry carts. The room had minimal furniture, so it echoed and was moldy
- 5/5
We will definitely come back.
- 1/5
$70 in bogus fees that they add on when you show up locks don’t work so you end up locked out all night front desk person so rude. It’s a waste of your effort to even try to speak to them. Do not stay here under any circumstance.
- 1/5
I don’t even know where to start with this place. Every single thing about the experience is terrible from the extremely rude front desk, personnel to the ridiculous hidden fees that I’m pretty sure you are illegal at this point this place just sucks completely. To top it all off the locks didn’t work so several people were locked out overnight. Then I went to the sister property to try to use the gym and saw that the chaos and poor service doesn’t end at this place. It’s a part of the way this company does business terrible terrible hotel with terrible terrible management. I would never stay here again or recommend that anybody stay here for any reason.
- 4/5
Inconvenient to not have parking included in with the price you pay for the room.
- 5/5
None
- 4/5
Excellent no frills - good location! Only issue was that air conditioning a bit loud
- 1/5
The property bamboozled me out of $300 plus additional dollars after I booked them through Expedia. They hide a bunch of fees and I will never stay here again. The initial cost was suppose to be $254 I left spend near $500+ dollars.
- 5/5
Everything was clean and cozy. The area was great!
- 1/5
Staff very unfriendly. Lobby was dirty. NO one works till 2pm every day. Terrible customer service
- 4/5
Rooms are unique.
- 5/5
Nice
- 3.5/5
No front desk staff except for evening check in. Staff was rude. Called to inform would not be there by the 9:00 check in time. Staff hung up on me. Had to call back. Hair dryer did not work. No one at desk to get another one. Had to ask for clean towels.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 2/5
Called ahead about early check-in and was told it would be fine only to be turned at the door and unable to check-in for the next 4 hours
- 1/5
Couldn’t cancel a hotel out of the kindness of their hearts
- 3/5
Stay was right next to the L train. Beds were not comfortable. The mattress just sits on metal bed frame. Internet connection for tv was choppy. Place smelled like a locker room. They charged an additional 49.95 for hospitality and accommodation which was to include 6 bottles of water nightly but we never received any. If you failed to read the sign and you came back to the service desk to ask about the fees, if they determine you as being argumentative/disgruntled your stay gets canceled. That fee was in addition to the booking fee and the $246 stated on hotel.com. Everyone in the building had to share a kitchen in the basement if they wanted to keep or prepare food as the mini fridge in the room is only for beverages. Parking was said to be an additional $40 per night which covered from 12am to 12pm. Fresh towels only given every 3 days and shampoo bottles appeared to be refilled because the tops were broken. 3rd day they come in to clean regardless of do not disturb sign. Vibes give shared dorm room
- 4/5
Nice hotel in a convenient location. Right next to the el train, so can be noisy during the day when it passes by.
- 4/5
It was a great stay, the only thing was our tv wasn’t a smart tv. And the gym is really just two electrical bikes. Otherwise good stay.
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
Everything was perfect!!! Will definitely visit again!
- 1/5
You’re front desk lady was incredibly rude and when I told her I can’t afford parking she practically laughed in my face and refused to refund my stay
- 4/5
Safe neighborhood
- 5/5
Nice !
- 5/5
That being said if you are going here maybe look into the perks of their resort fee and incorporate it into your plans ahead of time. Very friendly staff.
- 4/5
This was a very good stay for the price we paid. Modern interior, good sizes rooms, AC worked very well, average hotel beds, close to the L. Parking is $42 per night which is expensive but it’s normal for a big city, but parking is under the train tracks and kinda confusing. Overall, I’d stay here again if the price was better than other options.
- 2/5
The bed was not made. The cost was very high given the low quality. The costs are hidden and did not appear high but they charge “processing fees” and it is $41/night to park the car under the train trestle on a dirt road. The gym facility does not work (two stationary bikes in a basement).
- 5/5
The location is pretty good, the subway pass by the side of the building but the noise is not too loud to do it uncomfortable in the night when you sleep, me and my friends would like to stay again when we have the opportunity to came back to Chicago
- 2/5
Room was smaller than expected. No breakfast, serverd daily like the booking cite states also no pool. I wouldn't recommend staying here for a long stays or for small children especially if you plan on using amenities that most hotels have ie breakfast, pools, game room etc
- 2/5
No gym, no breakfast, food vouchers for restaurant.com worthless (no participating restaurants near the hotel) and hidden fees.
- 3/5
Very noisy. On the top of noise from metro plumbing pipes makes noise i had twice during one night.
- 5/5
There with a friend for a concert - we wanted someplace with easy access to the L Train. This was definitely it! We were on the 2nd floor with a window right next to the tracks and could barely hear the train go by. Didn't hear any of our neighbors, and the staff was always helpful and friendly!
- 3.5/5
They did not have enough parking spaces for their guest so my car ended up being towed. They only had staff there from 2-11 pm.
- 5/5
clean no sink in room but they provide with water bottle
- 5/5
I love the staff; all of them
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
It was a wonderful place to stay!
- 2/5
Unexpected fees at check in. Room is grungy and has a bad smell. Bed is dirty. Ick.
- 3/5
The pictures didnt match the stay.next to subway. It looked better in pics
- 5/5
I loved staying here! The staff was great and the neighborhood was quiet but near lots of attractions. .
- 5/5
The room was right under the L but it wasn't super loud, I barely noticed it after a while. The walls are not very thick, however, and the ceilings are open to the pipes (industrial, not falling apart lol) and that's where the noise came from. And the light on the TV was soooooo bright that it was irritating as I tried to sleep. Overall, a good place for one night.
- 5/5
Staff!
- 5/5
Gave more hostel vibes but I wish the fees were optional
- 3/5
The bed was hard and the L was right outside my second floor room window like 6 feet away. The bathroom toilet paper holder was broke and while it looked like it held the paper as soon as any pressure was applied. It fell apart. The staff was nice and helpful when they were at the front desk. I needed to talk to someone in the morning of my check out and no one was there nor did anyone show up in the 20 minutes I waited before having to leave for my meetings. There is an extra resort fee they attached that supposedly was for wifi, beverages (water and soda). And discounts at various touristy spots downtown. The fee was close to $100 a night plus parking. My parking was under the L. Where broken glass covered the ground. I’m lucky I haven’t gotten a flat tire since leaving. At least they had coffee. Well, 3 Kurigs for coffee. Overall very underwhelming and left me feeling like I was at a youth hostel instead of a hotel. At least I didn’t have to share a bathroom Oh and the police blocked off the. Kick in my last night so someone could film for a movie. That didn’t really cause any issues. Just the lights in the windows most of the night

There are scammy fees at this property

Iar condition was not good

Great vibe and character. Close to public transit and various food choices.

Was charged 210$ by the property when I was given a receipt for 80$. They still have not corrected this, and when I called they said there was nothing they could do because it shows they only charged me 80$ on their end.

Very nice place so far
- 3/5
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. There were a lot of accommodations on their pamphlet. Just wish it was easier to access earlier in the day.
- 4/5
Upon entering, the room smelled like ketchup, mustard, and hamburger grease. Although the train was right outside, it was surprisingly not too noisy. The bed was comfy. The AC made weird electrical noises. The hotel room felt like an industrial cubby hole.
- 1/5
The property was pleasant and generally well-maintained, offering a comfortable stay. However, the additional $130 in fees felt excessive, particularly given the limited amenities and services available. Greater transparency around these charges would enhance the overall guest experience.

Nice property, right on the train line. Parking was easy at the lot right next door. Rooms were very small, but worked well for just a place to crash for the night. Unique decor and secure entrance.
- 1/5
Paid almos $300 for a very small room. Recreation area was extremely humid.
- 1/5
No bar, no food, no gym (unless you count two dusty Pelotons in a sad little rec room). Located on a loud train track with nothing walkable nearby. Could’ve had potential, but no amount of “industrial chic” decor hides the fact that this place is just bleak. Avoid.
- 1/5
This is absolutely ridiculous fees to charge guests and 2 free alcoholic drinks (a night) does not equal $436 worth of benefits packages. Imo. Don’t stay here- you will be ripped off.
- 5/5
Such a cool spot! Loved the industrial vibe of the building and the super cool decor. The room was clean, minimal, and simple—no frills, but honestly, nothing more was needed. As city people, we didn’t mind the train at all—actually thought it was pretty cool watching it go by our window. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, and we loved being able to walk to nearby lounges and great places to eat and drink. Definitely recommend!

After receiving multiple confirmation emails/texts throughout the day, my husband, juvenile daughter and I arrive at the hotel only to be told that our reservation had been canceled. According to the desk clerk, this happens all of the time. He did offer to try to find us another hotel but we did our own research and booked elsewhere. However, this was on a friday evening and aside from the severe inconvenience, the new hotel cost us a lot more money. And I never once received an email/text advising us of the cancelation, nor have I heard a word afterwards. Barely an apology, and this is repeat behavior from this chain according to one of their own employees.
- 2/5
AC was broken. Staff was able to provide two old box fans but barely made a difference. Hot, stuffy, smelly conditions all night/morning. Was told that they would waive the resort fee but who knows/cares.
- 1/5
We showed up in the evening to be told that they had overbooked the hotel and did not have a room for us. It was not just us, the guests in front of us did not have a room, and two more guests behind us did not have a room. We had to find a room at 9 pm in Chicago and double the price.
- 1/5
Never was able to stay because it was the worst room I have ever been in.
- 3/5
Not the most friendly staff, but decent place to stay and served its purpose for what we needed. Don’t understand the check-in process via text since when we arrived, essentially had to do the whole thing over again in-person. Also they couldn’t initially find my reservation. All and all, wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re in a pinch snd need a last minute place to stay.
- 2/5
The bad part was that upon my arrival there were issues at the front desk. The hotel had overbooked the property and luckily I was able to get a room with my family, but the next couple of groups that came to check in were turned away even though they had a reservation. I saw 2 different irate groups of people get turned away, by an extremely patient front desk worker at the hotel. I felt bad for the worker because the hotel chain put him in the horrible position to have to tell people that their room reservation didn’t exist and that being the weekend in Chicago, there were no rooms available anywhere that didn’t cost over $500 per night. There were some very mad people. The other horrible thing this hotel chain did was post a nightly rate but then make you accept a $93 ‘amenities fee’ for no reason. There were no amenities to speak of. No pool. No exercise weight set. No breakfast. Just an exercise bike and a keurig coffee maker in the basement. I felt like the extra charges was a complete scam, especially because there was a threatening sign posted in the lobby saying something like, ‘do not argue with or yell at the front desk staff about property fees or your reservation will be revoked! Stay elsewhere.

I had an absolutely terrible experience with this hotel that I would never wish on anyone. I had already booked and received confirmation through Expedia, and when I showed up to check in late at night, I was told the hotel was sold out. No explanation, no accountability – just a cold apology at the counter and a dismissive attitude. They refused to honour the confirmed reservation, kicked me out in the middle of the night, and left me stranded with no alternatives. Every nearby hotel was also sold out. I was left with nowhere to go, no solution, and no help from the hotel staff who simply shrugged it off as if it wasn’t their problem. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. If you can’t trust a hotel to honour a confirmed booking, especially late at night, then what’s the point of booking in advance at all? Expedia should remove this hotel from their platform immediately. I highly urge everyone to stay away from this property – do NOT book this hotel, ever. It’s not worth the risk. They do not care about guests, even those with valid, prepaid reservations. You deserve better.

Great location and decor. Too many overage charges. Paid double of what was listed as price.
- 5/5
Property was very clean, and the theme is super cute
- 4/5
I liked that it was different, minimal (which I consider good!), and that parking was nearby. Perfect for us as we were only spending one night and found it super convenient for our needs. It was comfortable, could NOT hear the el running by, clean, friendly staff. The only thing that I did not like was the mandatory package that was of no use at all to us. I wish they would reconsider that and make it an option instead. Other than that I worked out great for us.
- 2/5
The pricing is intransparent. The bill I got from the hotel does not match the invoice from hotels.com. confusing 3rd party booking. The hotel is about 50 feet away from a railway. Very loud. No coffee maker in room. Overpriced in my opinion.

Lovely staff, secure building with areas to leave luggage before checkin if you get in early

Nous avons passé un formidable séjour.

The room was hot and stuffy and the A/C didn’t work. The walls are so thin that we (including our children) could hear people across the hall having sex. The tv remote barely worked. The bathroom door didn’t latch. The ice maker was broken. There was someone else’s water bottle under one of the mattresses. The person at the front desk was friendly upon arrival. The beds were comfortable.

There was no food service, or bar. There was no pool. There were extra surprise fees. Rooms were claustrophobic.

No one accommodated us when we came in and I called their hotline but they said it will take an hour for their staff to come see & accommodate us. There was also a freak who came to us in the lobby and attempted to give me a bracelet without a reason. That was so creepy.

The decor is really nice and the rooms / beds are incredibly comfortable. A little bit smaller than I expected but still a great place to stay.

We arrived at 1:44 am. No one was at the front desk. We had to call the emergency number to talk to someone. It was dangerous outside. There was a train right outside the second story window which was the only windows we saw. It was in a bad part of town. It is not family friendly. It’s for people looking for a lifestyle that doesn’t support a family with good values.

The staff is the best!!

Loved this trendy little hole in the wall place!! My family loved the double hi loft beds over the main bed! The amenities were fantastic and great for your adults

Bathroom extractor noisy, pretty rooms for sleep
- 2/5
Man at the counter was pretty helpful but was told they would have parking upon arrival but that never happened. Front desk cos not open all night. So much noise from the hallways come in. Is also right next to train tracks. Then they charge you more once you check in
- 4/5
It was a very good location. The staff was very helpful and we enjoyed the light bright modern industrial decor. There was limited shampoo in the bathroom. No hair conditioner Probably the biggest complaint out we have is parking was absent. We drove around for about an hour trying to find places to park overnight. Not being familiar with the area or Chicago’s parking system, this was kind of a hardship. I wish there was more options prior to our stay. Still, a fun area, low price, high resort fees, $75 a night per room. I slept fine, the bed was comfortable, the decor again was great. Very clean.

Hotel.
- 4/5
We had a room with a kitchenette but there was no dishes or flatware in the room. After a thorough search of the kitchen we were able to scrap together enough items to meet our needs. The pingpong paddles where broken, the Foosball table was failing apart and gym consisted of 2 broken down pelton bikes. Given that they charge you a resort fee, one would expect a little more effort. But our kids loves the bunkbeds and the spaceuous room gave them lots of room to get their wiggles out. So I recommend River North if you have a large but self sufficient group. Its just a few blocks from the L.

The location was very dull. There was vomit at the entrance of the building. I could not use tap and pay to pay for extra charges for my stay. The window was right next to the alley and didn't have any privacy. The staff was okay. I stayed there only for a couple of hours as I did not like the cleanliness. Very poorly maintained, vomit at the entrance of the building. Piles of snow at the entrance making it difficult to bring our stuff and luggage into the building. The building had so much wet floor as no cleaning happened since we checked in. Did not feel like staying there for more than 2 hours.

Upon arrival I noticed the parking lot was an alley. Parking was an additional $50. When we got to our room we were supposed to have a sofa sleeper, asked about was told we would be moved in the morning at no extra cost due to the incorrect room. We were never moved and was given poor service when I inquired about it the next day. The desk associate even raised her voice many times to me & told me if I wanted to have a bigger room I would need to book another hotel or have whomever I talked to do it. It was Christmas Day so I walked away and proceeded with my day. We were looking for a great place to frequent downtown as we come to Chicago at least 6Xs a year. We will be passing on this place it was also cold in the room with the heat set at 79 the temperature outside was 30s. Crazy!

Good service and fun place, best for bigboys who like drink alcohol.
- 3/5
No TV guide, no phone, no iron or ironing board...and I did not see a smoke detector in the room. The floor was cold because the only rugs were under the beds. But for me the worst item was that my CC was charged more than my Expedia Reservation price that was booked months ahead. I asked the front desk about it, but was told there would be no management to address it until Monday...after I have already checked out. At the time of this review, I am already back home. The front desk associate, a very pleasant young Asian woman, was very nice, and assisted with any questions I had, despite the reservation charge issue. I had asked for extra blankets, and they were waiting in our room upon our return that night. The hotel itself was pleasant in atmosphere, and decor, very clean, and quiet. But I don't believe I will stay here again.

While staying here there was a roach in the bathroom. I have reached out to this proper multiple times. I have phots and videos that I attempted to share with this property. They have made no effort to return any of my calls, texts or emails. I would not recommend this property. Poor service and need’s exterminating.
- 3/5
The property is nice, clean, spacious. The customer service sucks- glad nothing was wrong because there is no one around and they do not answer the phone. Sad because it is a great area and accommodated our large group… but, because of the lack of customer service and delayed / still waiting on a response email I would not recommend
