Our bedroom was right next to a main outdoor door that the staff used all the time. The door started banking at 6 am every morning. I complained and it helped a little when they talked with their staff. When the room was cleaned, no hand soap was left, no kitchen towels were left, and they took the glasses we had in the bathroom away. Also, the dishwasher did not work.

Been staying here for years before Hilton took over. Amazing location and pool area but rooms were in disrepair and not well maintained. Happy to say that since Hilton took over, MAJOR improvement.

The combination of the railroad tracks on the other side of the road and the coastal highway passing by the hotel resulted in a significant amount of noise. The sofa bed felt exceedingly uncomfortable.

Couch in room was morbidly uncomfortable. Apart from that...absolutely no complaints.

This was my first time coming down to Dana Point and staying at this Hilton right by the water. It was such a beautiful hotel suite.

I LOVED this hotel! It was right on the beach & came with so many freebies! Free bike rentals, beach towels, beach umbrella, games, etc. I had so much fun! I would definitely book here again.

Parking was easy and good. Room was clean but furniture was older and room could use updating. Staff were kind and helpful. Kitchen was very nice and well stocked with everything you need as far as appliances and utensils.

Wonderful stay. With already having an iteniary in place, we didn't utilize the property amenities or view the property much. However, the rooms were amazingly clean, balcony view was awesome, the staff was friendly, helpful and professional. We will definitely visit again and explore more of the property.

The room is very nice and spacious we stayed 2 nights 1 bedroom 2 baths ocean view. Full kitchen and queen size sofa bed. Bathrooms are both nice and clean the ocean view is a plus for our whole stay very nice.bikes and parking are complementary which is nice over all we had a great time excellent.

We enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and all the staff was really helpful. We loved how you could check out beach chairs and a cooler. Also loved the beach towels in the room. Great amenities all around.

Room was spacious with plenty of facilities available, fridge, dishwasher, cook top etc onsite parking was underground of which there was plenty of sites, if it had been full it would be a struggle with an SUV. Location was not what we had expected which was disappointing. After checking in I was given the hard sell for time shares which I didn’t appreciate.

Very nice ocean view. Quiet, clean, and polite staff.

The ocean view studio we were in was spacious and it was a million dollar view. From the moment we checked in, I could feel myself relaxing. We didn't want to leave! We were on the southside of the property so we were far from the main pool (the only pool open right now) but we are more beach people so we were nice and close to the stairs that go over the road and get you right to the most beautiful beach. It was a gorgeous weekend, but never crowded on the beach. As we got home, we realized we left our pillows! I was able to text the hotel to get everything sorted out. We got our pillows shipped back to us promptly. I highly recommend this hotel. Great value and spectacular location. We will be back!

Always a great time

Overlooking the ocean and great sunset views! Easy walk to the beach or quick drive up to Dana Point. Beach chairs available! Condos make it easy to cook or bring snacks. The bed was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our own patio and the sunset lounge on the property.

Very easy location, had tons of amenities, very family friendly. Quieter than I would expect near the PCH. Even had ample parking.

Great ocean balcony view included with our room (not all rooms have balconies & views). Friendly professional staff. There was loud construction going on to rehab one of the pools, but our room was far enough away not to bother us. There is multiple amenties including game room, arcade, several pool tables, and pool/spa.

Very clean rooms and has two pools and two hot tubs! Only downside is there’s a railroad In between the hotel and the beach!

Excellent location. Spotless rooms. Excellent service. My suite was large. And the kitchen was so nicely equipped. Free laundry as well. Pool and hottub areas are wonderful as well. Although they right next to the road. So car noise drowns out the waves there. But still lovely. I would definitely stay again.

The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed, with amenities that truly made the stay feel like home. We loved the ocean view, and the pool was a great bonus. Our kids had an amazing time. The hotel’s location was also ideal, with an authentic Japanese restaurant just a short walk away offering excellent food. The free laundromat, complete with provided laundry soap, was a thoughtful touch. Overall, we had a fantastic and comfortable stay and would happily return.

This was extremely noisy. The studio bed is next to the door and the walls are thin and the floors in the hallway are tiled, so I could hear every conversation and roller bag that passed. I could also hear every footstep above me and was asked not to put the do not disturb sign out while they were doing a replacement project, despite not being informed of this up front and needing to work from the suite during the day.

Unexpected “resort fee” on top of unexpected $400 deposit in addition to the room fees. I will not be staying there again.

It was more than likely the smell of mold ad decay. Wjen i open my room door the smell of mold hit me like a ton of bricks i opened the balcony doors to air out the place sprayed perfume on my pillow so I could aleep The concierge Miguel was condescending and unhelpful! when maintenance showed up he said he smelled nothing!!! They claimed they had no other available room to move me and just returned my $55 resort fee! That stay ruined an otherwise amazing vacation! The garage smelled better than the room. Do NOT stay there. There are other places right next to it with the same magnificent view Hilron should be embarrassed!

Right off PCH, beautiful view from our balcony. Spacious room with separate kitchen & living room area. The only minor issue was the elevator was down in our building - however they gave us a voucher for the pantry for our inconvenience.

The hotel was across the street from the beach. Great location. Hotel had many things to do. Pool, hangout areas, family rooms. The room itself was worn. Sofa had worn cousins, poor patch jobs on the walls where holes previously existed. Dirty carpets. Elevator was not working neither during our stay. Made thing a lot more difficult lugging items for a family of 4 up 3 levels.

Other than that, people are wonderful and it's so cool near Doheny beach where you can watch the surfers. And also in the central building the elevator has been out on and off for 3 years so that's another situation where you have to be vigilant because you don't want to be in the building without the elevator if you have transportation and disability needs.

Sink and vanity in there was a nice extra. Everything worked. My grip is only 1 nite stand. There should be one on each side of the bed. Big tub and nice shower. My grip is not enough towel racks. Pool towels, bath towels, bathing suits. They don't want them on the balcony but one hook and one rack is not enough. Pool was warm and lots of lounge chairs with umbrellas. The Jacuzzi was hot but too much chlorine. Burned my eyes and didn't stay in very long. Over all nice. Across the street from the ocean and 10 min from Dana Pt Harbor

What a great place! We’ve stayed here before and enjoyed it immensely this time as well. We had a nice room in the first building with the fantastic ocean view. We also were able to get out and enjoy the pool which was really nice. Michelle was very welcoming and professional and answered our questions. Her demeanor and calm but can do attitude was a deciding factor in my decision to join the Hilton Rewards program. We are already planning our next visit-go!

The view from the balcony is amazing. Unobstructed views. Ocean waves crash on the rocky beach of Capistrano. The pools at the resort are great as us the parking. There is a lot of noise during the day. Traffic on Coast Highway is heavy and the Surfliner and Coaster commuter trains run on the tracks alongside PCH, but the view is wirth

Everything was great, i stayed in room 316, very clean only thing was that there was a employee only room next to us and that was a bit noisy at times, other than that our stay was amazing, pool was realky fun at nightime!

Was supposed to get a text when our room was cleaned and avaliable. Text was never sent by the front desk, so we were late checking into our room. This resulted us getting stuck in the middle of the bottleneck. Not a great start to our vacation. But everything else was wonderful.

Rooms felt worn

A cheeky $27 “resort fee” for a small pool on the main road. My room had ZERO natural light, it was a dark dungeon with a picture of the beach hung outside the window. Check in delayed until 4m, while the concierge tried to sell me on a vacation package !

The “balcony” was a joke, it was 1 foot away from the next building but they painted a mural to try to make it nice. But it was dark and odd. There was construction in the building that was odd or shored poor quality, in the shared space. Again, the room was good.

Great! All staff are wonderful, pool and hot tub, kitchenette, room size, ocean view and location close to a lot of shopping, eating and various attractions. Very fun area! We had an awesome view of the fireworks for the 4th of July. We will be back.

This is the perfect space for a family vacation. Fully equipped kitchen, and a grill, make it easy to enjoy family time while watching and hearing the waves of the ocean right outside. The space provides a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the views. A quick walk or drive across the street to the beach is nice, along with plenty of other beaches to choose from within a couple of miles. We will definitely return!

Time share sale pitch was too much. First night, continuous vibrating sound bothered our sleep...good thing we brought some ear plugs. From inside the room, we could hear people slamming the doors. Staffs are nice. Good location. Nice ocean view. Ping pong table other games were plus.

I was extremely pleased with this new find. It was such a gem, clean, easy to check in/out and great location. Nice and accommodating staff. I was able to call the night before and have a playpen set up for my baby which was perfect. The room was perfection full kitchen, living room and amazing view. The bed was extremely comfortable I slept like a baby. It was perfect for my family. The property offered free bike rentals and free beach accessories which was a nice touch. Pool was heated and open late and the property was clean and offered free parking. 10/10 would recommend.

Spacious rooms

I found this place completely by accident and I certainly am happy that I did! We wanted a place close to the Coach House where we had tickets to a concert and this was perfect! It’s right across the PCH from Doheny Beach and is a great location. We checked in and the staff including the concierge Tommy couldn’t have been nicer. He told us about the features and collaborations with local restaurants that the property has along with other businesses. We had a full weekend otherwise we would’ve been able to see and hear the presentations that are available. The room was a very nice and spacious one bedroom on the first floor with a beautiful view of the beach. Rooms come completely decked out with glassware, dishes and utensils with a gas grill on the balcony. Perfect for one night or an extended stay. The hotel has a marketplace complex with just about anything you might want foodwise including beer, wine, juice, milk, soda etc. A very nice room in a very nice place. It’s the perfect place to stay in the Dana Point area. We’re already booked for another stay to go to another concert. A very nice experience with lots of close by dining options. You won’t be disappointed.

Perfect weather in April. Warm sunshine with a cool breeze. Our room was nice for the price. The beach is across the street beautiful! Though it was noisy. Traffic on the main road and the A/C is mounted above us [4th floor roof)heard humming noise all night. Didnt get much sleep.

We stayed with our three children in a 2 bedroom suite. We booked without realizing we wouldn’t have a view of the ocean. I was concerned it would ruin the experience but we still had a great time. We were on the 4th floor and our view was of a large hill. It was somewhat dark in the room but the overall size of the suite and the pool made up for the lack of a view. Our children loved the pool and game room. Parking was easy and free! We would stay again.

Stay was good overall, a newer mattress would have helped with the sleep comfort. Thought they'd automatically do maid service but like a lot of place now, you have to ask. So had to ask for towels when we got back from a long day out, but they were responsive. Do know it's a time share and they will ask if you want to take a sales pitch meeting and they'll comp you a night's stay if you agree. Not our thing but for some could be a way to reduce costs. Water is right across the street. Wish we had a higher floor so road noise was less with patio door open. Good food up in town nearby.

Book this place don’t think about it twice amazing stay

The pool was heated and we had it mostly to ourselves every day. It was great to watch the sun set over the ocean from the hot tub! We visited the games room on one of the rainy days and played some pool, shuffleboard, and foosball, and the kids had fun. We also borrowed bikes one of the days from the activity room, and really enjoyed our ride along the oceanfront across the street. There were a couple areas being renovated, but we didn't hear any noise from the work (the "outdatedness" seemed to be something many others mentioned in their reviews... they're actively upgrading a few areas). One of the other complaints we read beforehand was that there would be pressure to sign up to buy a vacation timeshare, but other than a quick mention of there being a presentation IF we were interested (which we weren't), it was never mentioned again during our eight-night stay. Overall, the grounds were well-kept, our room was comfortable, and the little kitchen was well-appointed with everything we were looking for during our stay (we ate breakfast and lunch at the room most days). People who like to complain could surely find something to complain about anywhere, but we personally had no issues with anything at all during our stay!

The place is in a wonderful area - very close to Laguna Beach ,restaurants -the view overlooking Dana point ,is gorgeous. The staff is extremely professional friendly -everybody, the custodians ,the office staff, even the cute woman in the gift shop. Everybody was truly professional staff ,I’ve ever ever experienced !- the walls are extremely thin so you hear everything ,is my only complaint ,so bring some earplugs!! The price is so fair especially in such a beautiful area. Sunset is absolutely gorgeous.

Didn’t like that the main lobby elevator was broken and we had to use the one from the other building and drag our luggage around. Secondly there were homeless people around the property and in the parking garage. Made us feel very unsafe.

I loved the view of the ocean! Sat for hours taking it all in!! The staff are amazing and very attentive!! The bed was comfortable and had a separate bedroom w door that closed! Fold out bed was great too!! I loved the home-like accommodations. Only downside was the elevator in our building was out of service, but they assisted us with our luggage and we used the sister building’s elevator. We’ll be back!!!

Beautiful and spacious 2 bedroom room. I've never had a room basically on the beach with so many amenities that didn't run over $500 a night! Definitely staying again!

Weekend fun with the family for my nieces' wedding

Every room has a great view of the ocean. The rooms are clean and new.

+ Nice view in ocean view room (be aware there is a big street between you and the ocean) + Spacious + Parking included + Above average pool and hot tub area - A bit dated and not “nice”. For example our room had a king sized mattress stuffed on a queen sized headboard with the mattress spilling over where the nightstand should be. Ghetto looking. - Check out time is 10, and 10:30 was the latest checkout we could get. - Bad coffee (the tea bag like puck). - No servicing of room or replenishment of supplies during stay. Overall might be ok for family or bigger group if you really want a kitchen but I don’t expect to return.

The elevator closest to our room was broken, making it quite a trek to get to our room.

The only thing we didn't like about our room was that there was a strange smell at times.

Like that there’s a view to the ocean from the spacious living room. Noisy in the bedroom area…can hear anyone in the hallway. Small bathroom with low ceiling. The checkin is late…4pm and checkout is early at 10am. No time to enjoy the place and felt rushed in the morning. There’s plenty of garage parking but be prepared that the elevator is under construction and you’ll need to walk up ramp to lobby.

Property is beautiful and spacious, but it is expensive. Easy walking distance to the state park. Even if you private pay, they will try and hit you up for timeshare sales at check-in and departure. Will definitely go back.

I have been staying at the Riviera for a while now. I returned every August. I love this property, and now that it is owned by Hilton, the rooms have been remodeled very tastefully.
