Beachfront Palms Resort Galveston, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The location was so close to the beach which made it convenient. The overall stay was enjoyable. Our room was not very clean but it wasn't bad enough to make a complaint.

Hotel was average. Needs to be updated. Bathroom had mold in tub and on floor. Pool was very dirty. Breakfast was good and beds were comfortable. Staff was excellent and friendly.

Only complaint I have.is there was no bacon at breakfast. Everything else was on point!

2 For the love of god you have a 1/8" of disgusting scum around the ring of your pool. To the point I can scrape my initials in it with a fingernail. Give me a green scouring pad and 2-3 hours, and this ring of scum would be gone. Why do you allow this? Pool was likewise grungy. 3.Trash blowing all around the parking lot. 1 Man, 1 hour, and it's all gone. DO IT. 4. When he's done send him to the pool area and CLEAN IT UP. 5. YOU NEED NEW CHAIRS IN THE POOL AREA!!! Half of the ones you have are ripped, torn, and falling apart. ADD MORE TOWELS. 6. Hire some decent (and decent-looking) people for the front desk. Not the morbidly obese Three Stooges you currently have. Also, the Ice Machines in your Lobby are crawling with MOLD. Go see for yourself. The GOOD- 7. Room was clean and comfortable. 8. Popcorn machine was a plus 9. Liked the breakfast (except when the crowds came) 10. Maids were good. 11. Price was good. I likely won;t stay here again, it was a little too run-down for me, but a decent 'resort' for the Walmart crowd.

Had a problem with the TV when we first got there, but they come promptly fixed it. Enjoy the resort and will continue to come back.

Our room was musty/moldy smelling but for the most part was clean. Pool was very dark and murky, heavy smelling chemicals. For the price and location it was an adequate stay.

The rooms are a tad dated but they were doing some updates and working on things while we were there. The staff was so kind and helpful and the breakfast was amazing daily.

It’s a place to sleep and close to the beach. The room was in a rough shape. Shower faucet was coming apart in the tub and walls had some cracks in it. The actual property itself was nice. Staff was nice as well.

Location is incredible, and you could tell the hotel was trying to do improvements. Room amenities are basic, but enough for what we required. There were some points of cleanliness in the room that were left to be desired - dirty carpet, bathroom. Bed linens and towels were clean. Breakfast was great. Hotel staff were all friendly in our encounters. All things considered, we would stay at this property again.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Bathroom with mold and the shampoo dispensers were beyond dirty. Pool area was very nice. Convenient to beach and restaurants. Grocery store right next door was a plus.

well i dont like to down any one but it was really dusty in the room on top of the room being smaller them the image or pictures showed and the breakfast was nothing to talk about really! other then that the view from the window to the gulf was beautiful.

Breakfast was amazing parking was great so was staff. Bed slept good. Room was a bit dirty not really clean very outdated the pool was dirty no we'll kept. Only 1 elevator was working and it was long and very hot.

The toilet wouldn’t flush. The water pressure was minimal. The microwave had old food all in it. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great. The floors were discussing.

Not a very nice place but I will say it was convenient to stay there and be able to walk right across the street to the beach!

The place was filthy and, at first, we were given a room that someone was still occupying. My wife swiped the key card and walked right into some else’s room. That could have went very bad had whoever was staying there been present. We were given another room, but it we still very unsettling for my wife to walk into and occupied room.

very good location and price is reasonable. The breakfast was excellent and more choices than what we expect with these kind of hotels. It would have been better if the property have more ocean view rooms and onsite restaurant for late night customers

First, the lobby smells horrible. The bathroom in the room was way outdated and definitely not clean. Then on the last morning of our stay, as I’m getting dressed, housekeeping knocked on the door, multiple times and multiple times I told them we would be out momentarily (this was only 10am, checkout is 11am) but they opened my room door anyways! I was mid getting dressed!! I will not be staying at this hotel again.

It was a great stay, wish we got our room earlier than 4pm but its a great stay. Not enough towels when needed. Also- did not know we had to request housekeeping the night before for the next day. BUT overall this is little things/.

Needless to say I would not stay here again, even If I was on a budget. I'd rather spend more money on a decent hotel, and have to spend less on something else so I guarantee nothing like this ever happens again. By the way, this is a motel...not a "resort" as it is advertised. I do not recommend staying here.

Everything else was honestly perfect, bed seemed clean but my girlfriend said she had bug bites the next day, I didnt have any.

The location is great This felt like staying in a motel, the room was extremely small, the sink was clogged, and the room smelled like mildew. We reported the sink issue nobody came to fix it, honestly I should had send the extra $50 to stayed in a better hotel. Don’t waste your money here.

This hotel is amazing! Located right across from the beach with a pool if the waves and sand are not your thing. The rooms are large with comfortable beds. The breakfast has a very large and yummy selection. The staff was very helpful the first room we were given smelled like someone had been smoking in it. Gentlemen apologized and said we could be given a new room. Before I even returned to room to pick up luggage a woman was already there to clean that room . Not our first stay here and I have not found anything I didn't like.

Location was great! Having the Kroger next door was helpful and there was lots of restaurants within walking distance. The beach is right there! Housekeeping missed some important details. Always good to have a manager check rooms before deemed ready. Having a staff meeting in the lobby was uncomfortable to walk through and listen to. Missing sheets and phone cord plugged in backwards. Door was sticky.

I like the affordable it was but we were expecting more. When you go inside the elevator we can feel the humidity and bad olor; same in the hallway, inside the room very bad smells there was no rug inside the bathroom it was slippery and also in the tub my kid felt down twice when he was taking a shower. The pool was supposed to be clean and familiar area but there was teenagers drinking alcohol and making noise around.

Disappointing

Disgusting place. Booked a king size and got 2 queens. Beds didn’t have matching linen, mattress was practically bent in half because it was so old. Dog barking next door. Took one look at the room and handed in our keys. Would only refund me for one out of the two nights we booked. Went down the road to a different hotel and were happy to pay twice as much. Pictures don’t match the resort. Beware!

The room was clean and bed was comfortable. The location was good. It was close to restaurants, grocery stores and Starbucks. They have covered parking which was great on really hot or rainy days. Downside- elevators were slow and had to be shared with the custodial staff which made it hard to get out. The door to our room was hard to open and got stuck sometimes. It was equally difficult to close when we were leaving. Price was high but was inline with other hotels in the area.

The hotel was right on the beach. The room was great. The elevator was a train wreck. It sounded terrible like it could crash at any time. I was on the fourth floor, and I walked the stairs the whole time I was there.

Had so much fun and one of are favorite hotels to stay at.

Convenient location - across the beach, walking distance to restaurants, grocery and pharmacy. Has to work on cleanliness, housekeeping needs to check everything in room if available prior to leaving e.g. towels, toiletries needs to be refilled.

$75 fee for the “pet friendly” hotel and your dog isn’t even allowed to just lay in the pool area. Outside access to your room, no personal balcony. 1 elevator that was useful that seems like it’s about to break down. We had to ask for more trash bags and towels, rooms weren’t cleaned during our stay.

Our first night was an absolutely breeze, however the 2nd night we had banging on the front door. That morning of the 2nd day we asked for towels at 11 am sharp didn’t get any towels until 9 pm that night and then it was only big towels not small. We enjoyed how convenient it was to the beach and restaurants but that was the only perk. Outside had a lot of roaches on the sight, close to the rooms I should say, but the rooms were decent. I just wished we had someone to service our room while we were out that 2nd or first day! Breakfast was good, staff was okay. Overall I’d give the experience a 6.5/10.

Front desk staff was helpful when the tv in our room didn’t work. The first room they put us in had mold on the ceiling in the room and bathroom, and the frame of the door to the adjoining room was filthy. We were next to the elevator at first so we were constantly woken up by late-night partiers coming in from the bars and yelling into the very echo-y hallway. When they moved us to another room with a working tv, it was much quieter, though the walls are super thin, so you could hear and pick a side with your arguing neighbors. The facility claims to be smoke-free outside designated areas but nobody enforces that. We came back and took a midday nap and were woken up by cleaning staff hitting the walls on either side of us. Otherwise the staff, from the maids to the maintenance guy, were very friendly. You get what you pay for regarding the cleanliness. Also it’s not “on” the beach, but is across the road from it. It’s next to a nice restaurant as well.

The air conditioner in the room is old, loud and the Air smells of decay.

There is alottttt of upkeep that needs done to the property and who ever is the heavy set guy that works behind the check in counter they should just let him go he is super rude to the customers but the young girl with curly hair she was awesome. Also get more carts for the housekeeping I feel bad for them they work hard and the supplies and lack of equiptment for them to do thier job is embarrassing

Stayed for a few nights with my family and the room had good amenities and was clean. The wifi also worked well. We had a small issue with one of the sheets being dirty but the staff was very helpful solving the issue and even offering a discount for the inconvenience. The hotel is in a convenient location right next to a Kroger for any groceries we needed at the stay and right in front if the beach.

Room smelled weird. No privacy curtain other than the black-out curtain. Looked like it had been ripped off the track. Shower curtain smelled terrible. Shampoo bottle Lid was on so we couldn’t use the shampoo provided. And single-ply toilet paper was the WORST!! Partial gulf view was as advertised. Convenient covered parking. Pool on-site was convenient.

We ended up getting another night cuzwe had such a blast . Hot bteakfast every day pool time beach time the staff was so nice and helpful. We ended up staying 4 nights and 5 days . We'lll definatly be back !!!!

Idk where yall are staying that makes this place good but yall lied to me! First, one elevator was broke and had been for awhile so there was only 1 for everyone to use. The tub wasnt clean and the shampoo was empty. The safe didn't work, and the breakfast was meh. The bed was ok and the room was fairly clean, those were my 2 stars 🌟 the parking was decent oh and the police came for something last night but idk why.

I loved the location with the swimming pool and the beach access hot breakfast every day the staff was super nice and helpful big plus for us!!!

The staff are amazing

However, there were no towels in the original room. The elevator was dirty and full of water. The rooms are ok, but tired and the sheets are not the nicest. In those terms we got what we paid for. But putting people right next to one another with adjoining doors that are that thin is not thoughtful. There were plenty of empty rooms, too. Look, if you are on a tight budget, this is a good option so close to the ocean, but we were just sleeping for the night before an early morning activity and this is not a quiet place. Not so much complaining about this fact as letting potential users know what you are signing up for. No comment on breakfast, it didn't start until 7and we were gone by then.

Wasn’t not the same motel we stayed at before. The room was dirty, furniture out of place. It was disappointing. The price point was 4 times what it was worth. We’ll look for a different hotel on our next trip. The one good thing was the breakfast. It was still good.

Device was great I booked through Expedia and didn’t have a check in until 4 pm but need it earlier and the front desk staff was able to help me get my room at 12:30 now that’s what I call great customer service! So so thankful for this company and its services and great staff. I think the lady was named Jeriquanna. Young black lady!

We stayed here for memorial day. Over all. It was great. The room was clean and easily accessible. The breakfast was pretty good. Needed bacon lol. Had a lot of options. Pool was nice. Our only few complaints were. One of the elevators was out of service so sometimes you were waiting 4-5 min for the elevator that was working. Also, the rooms have refillable toiletries and ours were definitely not checked before we checked in because the shampoo had a teensy bit in it but the conditioner and lotion were full. Our tub also was stuck in shower mode. No way to take a bath if we wanted to. Other than that we would definitely stay here again. Oh and keep in mind, the pictures they show of a bar area is NOT in the hotel, its at Doc Holidays next door.

The room is dirty; the blankets are stained, and the rim of the bathtub is black with grime. It smells terrible—plus, we had to take the stairs because the elevator was out of order. I do not recommend it.

The room was clean the only bad thing room service never came by and cleaned the room. Had to keep going to the front desk for clean towels.

When we checked on room, it indicated we would be on the beach. Of course it was not possible because of location. The breakfast was very extensive and had everything.

Rooms are old and need updated. Shower ceiling is moldy and paint is peeling off the walls. Toilet would not flush and 1 ply toilet paper is frankly unacceptable. Walls are paper thin and rooms are adjoining so you can hear everything from the next room over. Convenient location but extremely overpriced for a motel 6 type experience. Pictures are heavily edited and do not match the actual look and feel. Breakfast was good and appreciated.

We stay here every trip to Galveston. We enjoy the location and the property is nice.

The Beachfront Palms is in a great location. And I especially appreciate the plants and the landscaped pool area. I recommend asking for a room that faces the pool. Nice breakfast as well, and the beach is right across the street.

One elevator was broken, the other was clunky. Room could have been cleaner. The toilet was slow. Breakfast was mediocre.

Everything was great Allen was super sweet checking us in last night. Only thing was no toilet paper in our room at all, but he gave it to us very easily so :) Thanks for a great stay!

The room was not clean. Actual used/dirty bed lines on the bed. I immediately notified the front desk. After several hours, I was still awaiting service and took dirty linens to desk and requested clean ones. I had to remake bed myself. Management was notified of situation, and nothing was done. I was not given a clean room, or compensated on the one I was in. Very poor customer service.

Have stayed multiple times. Great place for the price. Just steps away from the beach. Comfortable beds, nice pool. only thing that suks. is the TP. 😆

The room and hotel was not as advertised. The hotel was not as pictured and room wasn’t what I was expected. I will not be booking again. All the information needs to accurate because it was as advertised!

I found a human tooth in our room and they did nothing but ask to move us at 1am 5 hours before check out.

The staff was personable and the location is excellent. The property could use some updating. For the price, I would stay here again.

My stay was very relaxing, quiet and staff was very helpful, pool was very nice as well as gym. The only thing that I was wish was a little different … the beach, it was across the street but you have to walk always to cross over the four to five lane street to get to light for crossing. Other than that, excellent

they don't do maintenance and they won't clean your room daily

Breakfast was powdered eggs, so so quality. Gravy for biscuits was not up to thickness. No cream cheese for bagels. Waffles were excellent. Enough choices for everyone to get a filling meal.

On the minus side - the room left us disappointed. The room had a poor smell, the bathroom needed some obvious cosmetic and mechanical repairs (and only offered one-ply TP), and the mini fridge made a clicking noise on and off all throughout the day/night. We also had an issue with the streaming device attached to the tv. It felt kind of dungeon-like inside the room when the curtains were closed, which is great at night, but not great during the day. Hopefully the new management company will make some impactful changes.

Great location! Good breakfast! The hotel is older so it’s a little run down but they were obviously updating it as there were men working on the outside to improve it. The beds were great and very comfortable. Bathrooms could use some improvement. The furniture looked new and updated. Walking distance to the Convention Center which is one of the reasons for staying here as we were there for an event.

Breakfast was great. Bed was comfortable with good pillows. But, room needs a lot of cares - Shower spout was leaking, laboratory faucet was broken and sink was stopped up. A/C water was leaking to the floor.

The room was dirty—like, visibly dirty. Surfaces hadn’t been wiped down, and the whole space just felt neglected. The bathroom was especially bad. The tub wouldn’t drain, so you’re basically standing in a pool of water while showering. On top of that, all the metal fixtures were rusted, which made everything feel even more unsanitary. For the price and what was advertised, this was a huge disappointment. Definitely would not stay here again and would not recommend to anyone.

Location was great but the room was clearly dated, door opened from the outside, noisy air conditioner. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean so not a bad stay.

Herculean effort to keep a declining property relevant. Room was clean. Pool area, including loungers, was disgusting with all the bird crap. They did power wash it the day before I left. Pool water was clean. Seawall is across the street which is nice. Kroger is across the street, which was nice except for the loud street noise. Apparently it just changed owners. All in all, you get what you pay for.

One thing that was concerning, my wife was in the designated smoking area and some random man came and sat next to her at the tables, tried to strike up conversation and then followed my wife to her car in the parking lot. Thankfully she was conscious of her surroundings, but the guy kept apologizing all while following her and telling her he was going to his room. WEIRD! My wife is safe BTW.

First of all, the staff is amazing. We came back from a cruise and arrived to the hotel around 9am and they worked diligently to get us into a room. The grounds are beautiful with palm trees, and the beach is a very short walk across the street. But the rooms are not great. There is black mold everywhere. The surfaces in the rooms were wet and I believe it was from the AC unit. Also, do NOT pay extra for a beach view or pool view, we got whatever was available both times that we checked in. The first day we stayed before the cruise, we arrived around 8pm and were giving a grocery store view. The second day I can understand because we just wanted into any room.

Breakfast was mediocre at best. The prepared food like eggs and sausages were low grade. Facility is aging. Spend a few dollars more and stay at a nicer hotel. One nice thing is that it is across the street from the beach.

El hotel esta muy bien ubicado ( al frente del mar )pero las instalaciones estan muy deterioradas y en mal estado . Las habitaciones son oscuras y el olor a humedo invaden todo el lugar. El desayuno ofrecido es aceptable. Ademas si te toca un piso 3 o 4 al utilizar ascensor parecía que se fuera a soltar cada vez que uno lo utiliza. Realmente le falta mantenimiento a todas las instalaciones.

Hotel was nice breakfast was very delicious only problems I had was there were stains on curtains and we had loud and disruptive neighbors I payed extra for and ocean view and got the pool view I was a little upset but other then that I did enjoy my time there

breakfast was pretty good, staff seemed to be fairly nice, didn’t have a beach view. Pool view was OK. Pool is very, very small and close to the smoking section so you’re gonna have smoking in your face while you’re in the pool. It was pretty far distance from the seawall carnival area, where all the fun stuff is. I stayed just for one night so it wasn’t too bad but the bathtub and bathroom overall needed help! Went to take a shower and found this gooey hair brown disgusting stuff. You couldn’t even see the drain hole. It was all inside the drain. I almost threw up. I quickly put a cover over the top of it with a towel and stayed out of the bathroom as much as possible did not could not take a shower that is not from one visit that’s been there for a very long time and I have pictures. It was one night I didn’t want to complain as I was traveling with the wheelchair and needed their help with my luggage so I didn’t say anything to them. The other problem is I went to Hotels.com to book this in the third point made as an attraction to this hotel was that they provided a shuttle. It was very specific that this is a rare find. I booked it based on that shuttle. I went out for the shuttle the next morning to get to my port for my cruise and there is no shuttle management laughed at me and said they never had a shuttle and they don’t know why that’s on there but they seem to know about it and they’re not doing anything to remove that. I feel like I was involved in a baiting switch

"No smoking" signs were everywhere on the hotel walls, yet people were smoking everywhere anyways...even smoking marijuana just outside our room. Be forewarned, this is a old, dirty motel. The pictures here aren't fair to customers.

Quant, not ostentatious

Loved the location! Right across the street from the beach. Enjoyed the free breakfast and the free popcorn was a nice surprise! There's a nice restaurant next door and also a grocery store with a Starbucks! Will definitely be back!

Despite the bad reviews I read before booking, I wanted to give this hotel a chance. However, I think the hotel really needs a renovation. The location is good in front of the beach, and the breakfast is not the best, but it's not too bad. Honestly, I wouldn't stay here again.

This place isn't just nasty... its unsafe. My door wouldn't shut and I had to call maintenance. The handle locked up and it just kept beeping. All they did was jimmy the handle and the tongue and it closed again... But if that's all it takes, then clearly these rooms can easily be broken into. Also my room was not at all clean. Someone else's used wet towel was in the bathroom when I got there. The floors were dirty. There was a can of chewing tobacco in the couch cushions, which I guess is just random and shows they don't really even try when they turn the room. The shower, at best, sprayed maybe 30% of its water through the shower head, no matter how much I pulled the pin on the faucet up. The rest of the water gushed out the bath faucet, filling the tub before I could even finish shampooing. This place is a dump.

Rooms were clean Everything was great we were on the 4th in room 4/16 it was very loud one night little kids playing and screaming on the walkway around 10-11 pm And young people sitting on the walk way till about midnight but we will be back!

Room was decent - during a 4 night stay I requested one room cleaning and it was never cleaned - but otherwise no complaints. Breakfast offered more options than many hotels at this price point and location was great.

It was great! I was worried with the mixed reviews on Google but when we got there it was clean! The elevator I chose to avoid due personal fear but my partner said it was probably for the best! The room was spacious for a motel! I travel a lot so it was nice to have the extra leg room. Another thing I can add is we didn't experience the mold smell others had reported. I loved the fact we were next to a Kroger and across from the beach. Breakfast was busy this morning but it was hot! The bed was super comfortable! When we come back to Galveston we plan to stay here again!

Staff members were unfriendly. The appliance’s & amenities were outdated and broken. The elevator needed to be fixed. The room door was difficult to open. The bathroom/tiles need to be updated. I was catfished by the pics. I could barely see the beach from my room window & I was unaware that it was a motel styles room. From the online pics, I thought it was a balcony. Directly across from my room was a busy street and Kroger parking lot. It was noisy. I was extremely disappointed with my stay and the room was very overpriced for the quality of the room & customer service provided. The breakfast bar was out of several items that no one was attending to. I will definitely not stay at this property again.

Shower didn’t work all front desk said was maintenance would be at 8 that was all. We had to call and ask for another room key so we could shower before checking out. Property is run down rooms are half cleaned. Overall just a poor conditioned hotel. Looks like they are remodeling but looks to be a half ass one at best. I would never stay here again probably the worst experience ever.

This is my go to hotel I'm come all the time the staff knows very well. If we ask for a certain room we have no problems getting the room we like. Same for anyone else. They don't give you a hard time about changing rooms either. I like also the fact that the same price you pay for a one bed is the same price you pay for a two bed. Dogs are welcomed. No loud noise with other dogs. It well light at night. It very safe. Never seen anything bad. It very quiet. Best water pressure. Rooms very very clean. Beds are the best, very comfy. I love the comforter and the sheets. And lots of pillows. The bathroom are very clean. They provide Shampoo and conditioner and body wash in the shower there full size bottle. Also good size bar of soap. And also a bottle of lotion after you get out of the shower. There towels are thick and smell so clean. You also have a step out towel which is a bath towel to step on to after showering. Lots of hand towels. Mini fridge microwave. Big big tv. They have a safe in the room. Make sure when you use the safe that it a small charge to the room to use the safe. Make sure you don't have the kids play with the safe or you will be charged. Pool is heated. Is very clean. They have elevators, or stairs. The beach is right across the street with lots of neat by restaurants and fast food restaurants. Breakfast is the best. Lots of seating. Waffles, toast, muffins, choice of cereal, oatmeal, sausage links, eggs, biscuits, gravy, cube potatos seasoned. Juice water

I paid for a service that I didn't receive, I paid for a sea view and I got a view of the pool. The room smelled like a cigarette, the place looked dirty, a very high price for what they offer. I don't recommend it.

The receptionist was courteous and efficiently checked us in. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. With the beachfront location, a beautiful sunset walk on the strand made our stay just perfect. Breakfast was also good. This place is highly recommended.

Not at all my original room 340 was dirty . Room 209 was much better.

There were screaming kids in the pool at 3am. The whole place has no acoustic isolation, given that it's all concrete and tile. No windows to open for ventilation, so the room was musty, or I had the door open and was living in a fish bowl. Breakfast was free, well attended, and acceptable, but GFs with special dietary needs were not given much thought. Room was clean, bed comfy, but the shower was a mess of worn out and unmaintained fixtures. Could stay again, but I suspect I could find something more comfortable, and less trafficked.

The room reflected a clear and ongoing failure in basic maintenance and housekeeping standards. Furniture and appliances were either missing, improperly installed, or left in disarray. Visible dirt, hair, and general uncleanliness were present throughout the space. Several fixtures showed advanced rusting, and the persistent mildew odor suggested prolonged moisture issues that had not been addressed. The overall condition of the room was not simply dated, it appeared neglected. I understand that occasional oversights can occur. However, this situation went far beyond an isolated lapse. The condition of not one but two rooms indicates systemic issues in quality control, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping management. Given the evident health concerns associated with mold exposure, particularly when traveling with family (our young children), we made the decision to leave the property altogether and secure alternative accommodations that met basic standards of cleanliness and safety. This was not an experience aligned with even modest hospitality expectations. We will not be returning, and I strongly encourage management to conduct a comprehensive review of their maintenance protocols.

Very clean great staff very friendly

This hotel is in dire need of renovation. The staff is very friendly, and the hotel is generally clean, but to make it truly excellent, the walls need painting, the furniture needs replacing, and the floor coverings need replacing. I have asthma, and the room was very dusty and smelled awful. The walls and the entire place were covered in mold. I had to leave the room a day early, and I don't plan on returning because of my health. I spent two days coughing and short of breath. I do not recommend anybody to select it.

Staff was courteous. The stairs going up and down to the individual floors was filthy needed cleaning. Our room needed maintenance, especially in the bathroom. We did have a nice view of the ocean.

The pictures that they have posted of this place online are NOT accurate. The only redeeming quality is the staff is friendly and the coffee was good. I would not recommend staying here, there are many many better options. Don’t be fooled by the online pictures

It could use an update but who cares. It was clean and quiet. Near the beach and a lot of eating places. Breakfast good. I would stay here again.

We had to change rooms due to the smell. The second room had mold around and in the shower, and on the wood trim. You’re advertising a remodel, which is false advertising. From what I could tell was a coat of paint that probably has been painted over and over and new flooring. The place was disgusting and gave me the creeps i would not recommend it and will never be back.

The check-in was seamless, the room was clean. If I had to come up with a complaint I thought I had booked a king bed but got a room with 2 queen beds. Not a big deal at all but it did seem the room was a little tight. Aside from that, I would book to stay here again. It’s literally steps to the beach.

Rain leaked under front door on second floor. Room keys did not work on two separate occasions And staff blamed us for deactivating. Small refrigerator was too cold no thermostat and food froze. Again no one came to look at it. No closet to hang clothes. WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

The cleanliness of the room is definitely something that needs improvement. It was an ok hotel to stay the one night in before our cruise but another day would have been unbearable!

Confusion with old and new locations

What sold us was being able to leave our car there during the duration of our cruise at half the cost of the usual parking lots near the terminal.

We were thrilled by our view and the pool was heated. Everyone was nice and the place was great.

The elevator was broke twice. We were on the 4th floor with a heavy cooler that we had to carry downstairs. The toilet was broken and the maintenance man was unbothered as he was called but did not remedy the problem.

Walls are paper thin and we were on the fourth floor next to the pool and the noise from screaming kids was horrible. Then the birds nested in top of the palm trees around the pool late at night and made all kinds of noise tell late. You will not get room service unless you ask for if daily. clean towels etc.

There was no hot water in the room. It was barely warm and showering was miserable. The staff was friendly. The breakfast offerings were good. The location is excellent. There were birds mating in the pool all night and it was impossible to sleep.

Staff was courteous room was clean but it just seems old and needs some upkeep. Bathtub faucet was loose and took forever for the water to get warm never got hot so we had to take lukewarm showers, not a fan. Sink faucet was loose as well like it was going to fall off. They just need to have someone fix little things to make it up to date.

Roaches/bugs in room, subpar breakfast

Food at breakfast was always cold. Not the cleanest. Bathrooms small and things needed repair. Great location though. Walk across the street to the beach.

The room was clean, minus the hair dryer cord that was burnt in one spot. The staff was friendly, however, we had to go to the front desk multiple times to get our room keys reprogrammed. The walkways, stairways and elevator was nasty! We used our feet to open every external door. We will not be going back.

We do not have a remote control for the TV. There was no phone in the room for to order food and the toilet had to be flushed three times before stuff went down.

The staff was rude and acted like they didn't want to be there. Overall this hotel was a huge disappointment and i would not recommend it.

Nice and friendly staff

I called multiple times, two days early, a day early and this morning to ensure they would be able to provide my requests. I have two handicap individuals traveling with me, an 80 year old require short walking distances and a teen with medical issues/allergies. When we arrived elevators were broken near lobby requiring long walking distance our room smelled like mold, which my daughter is allergic too. We had been guaranteed these requests and neither were met. It was bad enough we left and went to another hotel.

The checkin process was amazing. Room service required us to talk to the room service people instead of the front desk staff. Also, there’s not a lot of selection for breakfast - but the self-serve waffle is great - long wait time if not early enough.

The staff was great. Entrance area and front of hotel looks good. At 4:00 in the morning woken up to what sounded like someone coming through the ceiling. Bath tub wasn’t cleaned properly. I’m not sure if my room just wasn’t located on a good part of the property. There were a lot of people staying at this time so very busy.

Staff was nice. Doc Holliday’s Roadhouse is next door and an easy walk for dinner. The hotel breakfast was good. The birds are loud. You can hear everything outside while in your room.

The breakfast menu was limited, but adequate. The room old needed updating from early 2000s! I requested a handicapped accessible room with walk-in shower, the clerk assured me I had one. What I got was a bathtub shower with a handicap bench, sitting outside the bathtub. I left on a seven day cruise, parked on the property & returned to find three tires on my car! The hotel GM left a message on my voicemail while I was out at sea asking me if I had taken the tire off as a precaution? Who does that? the manager of the hotel next-door told him about the damage. to add insult to injury, the manager of the hotel was very rude and unprofessional unhelpful!

We were removed three times. The first room was hairs in the bathroom and the safe was filled with sand and empty milk bottles. The second room was a connecting room with a domestic violence issue on the other side of the door that thankfully we were able to get out of there to the third room. The third room had two cockroaches in the bathroom that I killed and we just sucked it up and stayed since I already prepaid for the room. I would definitely not recommend Clarion in the future and nor would we ever stay at this property again.

205 is NOT a wheelchair accessible room. It cannot fit beyond the entryway. The tub is very high BUT the toilet is extremely low. ***The room is RIDICULOUSLY NOISY from birds taking over the pool area with full nesting. There are WAY more aggressive birds than in the movie “The Birds”. My friend was doing Radiation daily. On the fourth day, our checkout front desk let us have an extended checkout. But still at 10:30 am without knocking housekeeping barged in. The manager came to the room before the extended time and knocked yelling at the door I opened and told him we were allowed late checkout and I was just getting my friend. He would not let me close the door so I could help my friend up from where she was sitting on the bed. I explained to him she cannot get up on her own as he screamed at her yelling he is calling the cops if we do not leave. I finally propped the door open and got her with the transferring chair. I have never seen this in my life. We were there for 4 days. They never cleaned the room or asked if we needed anything. Everyday I bought at least $20 of water/Gatorade. . We only had breakfast one day. NEVER would I stay here again THIS IS CRUEL TO BE SCREAMING AT A WOMEN who obviously has stage 4 cancer and is just trying to do the radiation treatments. Stress causes inflammation and makes the pain even worse SAD!!!

Nice hotel. Very convenient to beach. I had an ocean view. Reasonably priced. I Gave a 4 because front desk needs a class in customer service. I called front desk. She hung up in the middle of my question. I called back and said,”you hung up”. She literally said, “no I didn’t. I thought you were done talking”!!! None of housekeeping staff spoke any English. I asked for a towel from the cart. Wouldn’t allow it. Just kept repeating front desk. Same with other questions. Nothing major. I would stay again.

The staff's demeanor was not welcoming. I was accommodated in a room with a significant number of vocal birds, and the front desk attendant had a minor present at the workplace.

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, however the room needs some serious updates, namely, the bathroom fixtures were in poor condition, and it needs more USB points for charging phones.

The room was cleaning even though it had a strong saltwater smell. It’s across the street from the ocean so it makes sense. No control of the property but the birds are extremely loud and can be annoying while sleeping. Didn’t bother me but my husband couldn’t stand them especially all their mess on the car. The breakfast was nice everything is clean and organized. If you want a clean room and fresh towels you have to ask. Perfect location and beautiful grounds for the price.

we had to switch rooms because the first one they assigned to us, smelled like cigarettes. it was an okay stay. we stayed there a night before getting on a cruise ship.

We stayed one night got in very late. Staff was friendly even with multiple issues with electronic keys not working. And our “partial ocean “ view was mostly the grocery store parking lot next to the hotel. The night was long and not restful. The ac unit rattled like a Harley and only went to 75. I opened the night stand drawer and found a live bed bug. We smooshed the bug and took the bug to front desk to see about a refund and checked out 3 days early. The rooms may have been clean but all had a musty funky small and just very off putting

Typisches amerikanisches Frühstück. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer ist sauber und geräumig. Der Garten ist ungepflegt. Im Garten gab es amerikanische Kakerlaken, aber nicht im Zimmer. In der Gegend gab es viele Vögel, die nachts sehr laut waren.

Do not get room 227! it is right next to the electrical room which made a high pitched noise half the night.

You cannot see the birds but you can definitely hear them throughout the night. Fast checkin and Checkout. Good central location. Beach across the street, walking distance. I would stay again.

The room smelled a little funky, and not being able to check in at the lobby was a little weird. I hadn't realized when I booked, but this was the weekend of the largest motorcycle rally in Texas, so they may have been playing catch up. Breakfast was nice. We enjoyed our stay, and I'll be considering this hotel the next time I visit Galveston

For the price I paid, ($600 for 2 days), I was not satisfied. The room was small, the toilet barely worked, some of the staff was rude (receptionists was nice), the bathroom walls/baseboards and floors were dirty, no closet space, and room door was hard to lock smh. The only good things were the location and the breakfast (which is why they're getting the 2 stars).The price definitely did not match the stay/room. I more than likely will not be staying here again.

We stayed here for two nights before boarding a cruise. After a 14 hour drive it was so nice to arrive to a clean room with a comfortable bed. The hotel provides breakfast which was good, eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, juice coffee, etc. My husbands favorite waffle was the one he made in the shape of the state of Texas. The pool area was clean. Luckily, it was warm enough that we could even use the pool. We always saw employees working on the grounds, cleaning windows, they were even taking the AC covers from room’s and cleaning those! The front desk was very friendly and always welcomed us with a smile. We also took advantage of leaving our car at the hotel while we were on the cruise. It was much cheaper than parking by the port.

The floors had spots looks like someone halfway swifferred, used wash cloth hung in the bathroom. Window was dirty, tub didnt drain properly and water sprayed all over out of the floor. There were dirty hand prints all pf the headbaord. Luckily the bed and sheets looked fresh and clean. One bed was soft one was extra fiem. Lot parking garage.

This hotel was in the perfect spot for us. Walk to the beach, store, restaurants. The room was nice and clean and that really matters to me. I liked that there was a fence all along the side street. The birds in the trees around the pool were WONDERFUL to listen to, made us feel like we were in a tropical jungle, it was very nice. The place was quiet and everyone friendly. I would choose to stay here again.

Clean room? It looked nice and clean But there was mold on the curtain by the ac leftover water bottle under the bed red stain on a shower towel hair on bathtub wall diry handprints above the soap dispensaries the toilet didn't flash properly and we reported it, but nothing was done.They said, maintenance was going to check it out and Breakfast? Was not good the fruit loop cereal was the best thing for breakfast there coffee tasted absolutely horrible the gravy/sausage was good, but it was too liquidysoup the biscuits were hockey pucks. The eggs were questionable rubbery And didn't even attempt to try to sausage

This motel is horrible and old

Staff was amazing! The hotel however was not! We got a room with a broken toilet and leaking water all over the floor. Had maintenance come and fix it then 2 hours later wouldn’t flush again and was leaking again. Next morning we asked for a new room but then our room key wouldn’t work..had it reactivated twice and then they had to have someone remove the whole door which took an hour before we could get back into our room so we had to wait to even lay down to take a nap.

Supermarket near by and microwave in the room so you can self cater if needed. We did not have breakfast as we walked in the breakfast room and it just smelt really unappetising,but lots of people were eating so perhaps thats just us ! Great for the beach and the pool was nice. Room was clean

Hotel is old and needs big renovation. Very overpriced! Rooms were dated and so was the bathroom. The air conditioning unit was very loud and it only had one setting!! Breakfast and coffee were decent. Definitely will not be staying here again.

We have had a horrible experience. We checked in on Thursday. The room had no tissue paper the floors were filthy. No towels the ac rattles loud enough that it keeps you up. Then the bathroom sink would not let you drain water and someone had to come repair it. Another guest said they were in room 404 and the ac has two holes through the floor so they got moved to another room. They then put us in that same room. This morning we were locked out for two hours because the door battery went out. This afternoon our card would not let us in and had to be reset. We were locked out again. It has been horrible.

It was a very nice renovated hotel. Pool was nice and I loved the Palm trees around the property.

Nice affordable option. Rooms are a bit older and what they consider a “room with a view” is questionable. Staff was friendly, pool clean, breakfast good. Overall good place to stay.

We got this room on the spur of the moment when another reservation failed to come through. It was an excellent hotel. It’s not brand new. It’s older, but it’s in good shape. The people are excellent. It was quiet. It was well maintained, and we felt very safe.

This was the cleanest, nicest inexpensive hotel I have ever stayed in! Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not the holiday inn, but there’s absolutely no reason you can’t make your money stretch further staying here! The staff was incredibly kind and friendly checking in and checking out. We stayed to get on a cruise ship this time, but I’d come back to pay that little to stay that close to the beach!

Good service

The elevators that are outside to access the back part of the hotel definitely need some looking into they are very dirty. Also look into your door locks my front door wouldn’t lock. My husband was locked in the restroom for more than 15 min. That’s totally ridiculous!

The place very tropical, the palms the architecture was beautiful. Everything I expected, a comfy bed, clean shower, ect.

Our door to the room & bathroom were hard to get open!! Room 313 The birds roosting in the trees were loud, woke us up early morning lol. The air conditioner on the last night was squeaky? The employees were very nice & kind😊

Good value overall. Last minute booking and everything was good for the price. October 27 is the time of year and the weather was good but the birds were insane!!! They have palm trees (hence the name) and they were perched there in the evening and squawking and screeching and chirping all night. At 7:30 when they were starting to land in for the night, it was incredibly loud. The tv, windows, and curtains helped muffle out a lot of it, but you could still hear them throughout the night.

Worst hotel in Galveston!! The room had tile flooring that created a condensation buildup during the night, which caused me to slip and fall. No hot water and no personnel on-site to make the repairs. The front desk staff was rude and refused to call the manager! I wrote an email to the manager and never received a response. Don't let the pictures fool you.

This staff is so courteous and kind, very good to my family.Very good to my children.It's a very quiet hotel.The beds and pillows are so comfortable.This is the only hotel I will stay at for the price and the breakfast is impeccable

The hotel is poorly maintained. We had problems with a broken elevator, plumbing problems in the first room they put is in and plumbing problems in the second room they moved us to. We also had problems with the outside door not closing, latching, locking.

Good price and view

Last room had unsafe slippery shower with no abrasive pad in the bottom. Almost fell. Sink barely drained. Birds way too noisy again. Elevator needed attention. Location great.

Out room was adjacent to the Kroger store so we got all the high traffic of noise and chatter often in the evenings. Other than that it was ver convenient to the beach and a lot of food options around the strip.

Hotel is being remodeled we did hear saws and other construction noise.

Staff was great. Breakfast was hot and good. Bed slept well. Coffee and water all day. Older, but cheap and by beach and Kroger and excellent restaurant named doc holidays.

I used to go down and stay there when I would go on cruises I have stayed there about 4 or 5 times in the past. However this last time I just went down there they decided to start charging for parking. That defeats the whole purpose of going down and staying at their hotel for me anyway because the parking was the advantage as I only live 3 hours away. Because of this recent change I will be driving the 3 hours the day of the cruise as opposed to coming down to your hotel and staying anymore. There was no reason for you to start charging for parking other than greed

Ac was leaking water, there was water on the floor coming from the ac couldn't call it in since we were in a rush in the morning for an event and came back late. We had to use towels to clean it up and nobody came to our room to clean and to provide more towels. Didn't have time to call the lobby but if they would have cleaned up the room and provided more towels they would have seen the leaking.

We arrived late at night, the libby was clised and had to check in from a hot entrance thru a window. The room was extremely outdated, small and mold around the baseboards. If you accidentally leave any items behind, the staff will take them home. Fortunately, they did bring them back!

The elevator sounds as though you're about to die or end up trapped. The sound of metal grinding as you're descending to the ground floor is not comforting at all. The second night in the room the sheets felt damp, I chalked it up to being at the beach all day; I was wrong. My fiance got super congested after our stay there. She said she noticed the sheets feeling damp, yet neither of us spoke up. On a better note, the staff was amazing. I love the fact that the shirts had that island vibe going on. To me, that looks better than some stuffy polo shirt. You're a beachfront property, keep the island vibe alive

A little expensive for the price but in a good location. Hotel needs some updates but overall decent and still would come back to stay just needs to be a little cleaner. Didn’t see any roaches like some of the other reviews but I think that’s impossible for any place. Bed was a little stiff. Maybe some mattress toppers but it isn’t a bad place just some nice sprucing up would be great.

I liked the staff and the room. The only real downside is the elevator ride up. Its very hot with no air flow.

Property has been updated since new owners have taken over. We stayed here when it was the Red Roof Inn. It is much nicer now as the Beachfront Palms

It was very dirty. Mold in the bathroom and the smell of mold was horrible. Will not be staying there again!

It is ok if you stay just for a night or if you go to the beach and dont want to drive back the same day.

The only thing I think it was ok that it was quiet other than that there was dirty towels bathroom was dirty also and the room was smelling at weed and and also dirty blankets

Rooms were very musty, smelling, people smoking marijuana all over the property people smoking cigarettes all over a non-smoking property. Employees not listening when told where to put my bill. It took 3 employees to fix it. Allen was the one who listened and fixed it. I won’t be staying there ever again.

Staff was amazing and welcoming! The breakfast was amazing, the coffee, potatoes and sausages were a family favorite each morning! Location was A+, easy in and out and just a short walk to the beach. Room was decent for price, housekeeping isnt daily but if you call the day before they will get you in next day! No complaints here! Would stay again.

We stayed toward the back of the Hotel, will say the room, was comfortable for a beach visit. Breakfast was ok, gravy tasted off, beach access was really good

Good service room was clean bed was comfortable had an ocean view. There was no ice machine on any of the floors and the elevator needs serviced but other than that it’s a good place to stay for a weekend getaway.
