Reviews
The hotel staff is frequently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, the hotel's cleanliness and the condition of its facilities are consistently criticized.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Affordable price
- Poor cleanliness
- Outdated and poorly maintained facilities
- 5/5
One of the best hotels around.
- 2/5
There is no amenity at all, no coffee nor microwave in room or in the lobby. Our toilet is not even cleaned when we checked in. The room floor is dirty. On our first day, the lobby attendant is nowhere to be seen, twice.

3 thumbs up

Overall great place. Affordable .
- 1/5
room was infested with spiders. metheads all over the property. pool was closed.
- 4/5
Near a lot of food and beer
- 2/5
room was filthy, and I did not even sleep in the bed. I slept on top of the bed sheets on top of the blankets, not worth the money.
- 2/5
Shower curtain pole broken,no blow dryer, dark room, no outlet for phones charger no elevator for walking problem people.
- 3/5
Didn't feel too safe but it was what I could afford. Good experience with Expedia, had no problem
- 1/5
Mandatory evacuation for the entire area. Booked at 11pm (evacuation had started earlier in the evening but since we weren’t in town no one informed us) because of the chemical spill we were unable to access the hotel or the booking. When I called the hotel they said tough luck so money was spent and haven’t been able to refund since we weren’t allowed to the hotel . Still need refund
- 2/5
I don't recommend anybody staying here. The room had such a strong musty smell, the towels we're like paper towels. There were broken down cars inside the parking lot. Homeless people we're inside the gated area. I didn't take any pictures, I should have, but we just slept, showered and left the next morning early.
- 1/5
The roof started leaking water
- 1/5
Terrible
- 3/5
Wasnt great wasn't bad just quiet and simple
- 5/5
Thank you.. It is everything is OK

Muy sucio y huele horrible
- 2/5
For the money we paid for two nights, it was not worth it. We felt like we were in prison due to all the fences and gates you have to go through to get to your room. Instructions how to get to the room was not very clear, nor did they have some kind of map to help. Ice only available by the front desk and then costed 25 cents. (Front Desk did give me 50 cents for the first bucket) TV had only two local stations (CBS and KTLA,) Did have odd stations which had old shows, also had stations that were Asian and Spanish I didn't mind this, but was very upset that they did not have ABC or NBC. I noted small ants in bathroom, on floor and on the towels. Also, they did not have coffee available either in the room or even at front desk. (Even Motel 6 has coffee.) Not pleased with stay and will never stay there again.
- 5/5
comfortable
- 5/5
The property felt pet friendly and parking was good!
- 3/5
Very safe if that is what you are looking for, controlled access in and out of the parking lot and to the rooms. My biggest complaint is the bed is on rollers on laminate, it constantly shifted around. This is an easy fix, just put the wheels on coasters for guest comfort. Also no fridge or microwave. I've stayed in many bargain places that do provide this. Also, one of the end tables had gang grafitti etched into it.
- 4/5
It was just okay
- 1/5
The room that was given to me was on the ground level and the sliding windows did not lock. So there was a security and safety issue. I barely got any sleep and to feel secure, I had my knife near me at all times. I would not recommend leaving your things in the room for long periods of time. The bathtub was halfway peeling due to the resurfaced area. The curtain rod was sticking through the drywall instead of it freely hanging. The motel looks like it is for multi-use since most of the clients I saw looked like they live there. Apparently, they rent out the rooms by the hour too.
- 2/5
The facility is horrible, it gave us a feeling like we are going in jail. Terrible!!!!
- 3/5
Staff was helpful
- 1/5
Dirty really dirty bed, bathroom not clean, stain poop, blanket have hole a lot hole cause by cigarette (we choosed non smoking) if you short in money or not really stay in hotel or just need a place to put your stuff you might fit, but i dont think i like it, blood stain on sheet, black stain look like mold under sheet, terrible not going to come back
- 5/5
Great staff, pet freindly and the room was clean and big.
- 2/5
Place did not seem secure or clean. Building and amenities were outdated. A lot of shady characters around the hotel and living there.
- 4/5
Free and easy parking. Staff was good and knowleadgeable, they even recommmended a few good places to eat. Furniture could use an upgrade but for the price it was good overall.
- 5/5
Great office staff
- 5/5
This is my home away from home, let's be honest it's not the mariot, however...it fits my budget and I've come quite fond of the place, they always let me get the same room as long as it's available, the staff is super friendly and always helpful when needed. The maid serivce is available but they don't knock on your door to see if you need towels and toiletries so I usually have to go out and find the cart on the tier. They do seem to have a problem with homeless people camping on or under the stairs and I've been begged more than one occasion to be let in my room which is somewhat uncomfortable, at times I've had to sneak around them just to get ice or going in and out of the property. Other than a few minor issues I enjoy it and it's a great location, plenty to do and plenty to eat close by.
- 5/5
Location.
- 3/5
Microwave and fridge would be a great thing, I'm just saying, the lobby doesn't even have a microwave
- 2/5
Stinky smell from sink, refridgerator not working and leaking all over the floor. No hairdryer, no iron were provide when requested. You have to buy ice from the motel!! Only good thing about this motel is the location of it.
- 4/5
The room was very clean and safe although very dated. The property is brightly lit and secure overnight. This is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, the management at the hotel does not like to work with and guess how long they’ve known them and no matter what organization is actually paying the rent for the person so I don’t know if I would recommend this location or not
- 4/5
It was ok r he staff were very nice. They need to upgrade but there was cockroaches killed one on the wall
- 1/5

Property and staff were great!
- 3/5
No trouble check in, needs some TLC and more focus on cleanliness
- 4/5
It was very cozy and quiet, I've stayed at Garden Grove inn 3 times and I have only been in one room upon request since I really like this one , great section of the property and quiet especially since it's a corner room and only one room next to this one. The staff is very nice to me and always accommodating me with respect and a smile, it's not the Marriot , HOWEVER....In my opinion it's much better, also great location, plenty of shopping and food within walking distance
- 1/5
Dirty
- 1/5
Rose m was filthy, had roaches, no working phone, no towels. The internet did not even work for more than 10minutes of our stay. The grounds are filthy. No working phone in room. They charge 25 cents for a small amount of Ice.

I had to stay there for a day. I enjoy it. It was quiet and the hotel was ok. I would stay again if I was in the OC.
- 5/5
It’s convenient to everything. Food within walking distance. Staff was helpful. Sally at the front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable.
- 4/5
Safe. Slept well. A bit of road noise.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
This is our second day and iwill be probably back. This is a very basic motel, but all we need is shower and sleep. All of that provided: clean linens, large comfortable beds, clean bathtub that actually drains (no standing water!) I especially like all the cozy lamps in all the needed areas, so you don’t have to keep the annoying Overhead ceiling light on. There were plenty of drawers, two tables, a nice midsize fridge with a separate freezer door, two chairs and an arm chair! The only problem the first time it took 2 requests to get linen replacement, but then they overcompensated and gave us a lot! Overall, very satisfied.
- 2/5
This is an old hotel with permanent residents was chased by dogs twice there were plenty of homeless hanging around the bed was soft and springy and the room was full of names and tags scratched into the furniture and felt dank and kinda gross overall and the pool was green! Spend the extra 100 bucks and find a real hotel.
- 3/5
WiFi is awful, nearly useless, cable TV was even worse. Shower/water pressure was horrible. It caters to a very low class clientele of pot smokers heavy drinkers and generally noisy inconsiderate low life’s. Staff was friendly location is great and it’s clean. Room was large. In the future if I can’t afford a better hotel than this one I will stay home.
- 4/5
Conveniently near Walmart and Costco, private parking, has no hair dryer.
- 3/5
Honestly the lack of noise surprise me
- 3/5
I wasn’t happy with the location or area of the hotel…
- 2/5
I ask for a non smoking room. I was given a smoking room than was changed to a room with a high smell og chlorine, switch to a third room with a week shower head and sink faucet that was broken( water was spraying wild). Iit look like the faucet was is missing the cap to control water flow. Over the morning employees are very friendly.
- 5/5
Very relaxing
- 4/5
Very nice place
- 4/5
Property is secure
- 1/5
Manager treated guests like trash, accused me of having more guests than I had said and when I proved it he became hostile
- 3/5
We just slept in room.
- 4/5
Excelent location. Gas station, walmart, gym, food. I liked that convenience a lot. I would've loved a fridge and a microwave but it was alright. I made it work. Beds were 6/10 not too uncomfortable, they get the job donw specially if you're really tired. Clean sheets, clean towels, and nice AC
- 1/5
Help yourself there is a many motel or hotel around way better. I just moved the other one just few mins away and it was such a big relief, clean room people much nicer and friendly.Dont make a big mistake like me.
- 2/5
The room is not clean, they don't change the bed sheet daily. the staff is not available all the time.
- 1/5
As soon as we walked into the room a bug crawled out. Our first night we heard someone screaming for help and the sounds of them getting kidnapped at 3 am. There is also a cat on property unspayed constantly howling all night. Our room had thin walls there was the sound of some washing machines or some machine in the room near us that was running all night loudly. They allow homeless gangster people to hang around in the lobby and they are friendly with them and let them stay there. These people scope out your car and watch you enter the inn, made us feel unsafe. They locked us out of our room on our second night there we were very scared while waiting for them to open our room. Dont stay here to save money your risking your life.
- 1/5
We got a dirty room from previous gests
- 5/5
Very cozy inn, with awesome security. It’s an older inn so it’s a little worn but comfortable and clean.
- 1/5
See my previous review. I would NEVER stay here again!
- 5/5
Very accommodating
- 4/5
You get what you pay for here, friendly helpful staff and quick check in/out. Area isn’t the best and there are some loiters that give you looks. Was a little noisy some thin hallway walls
- 2/5
The place has all the charm of cell block #9. The place is surrounded on 3 sides by a 6ft fence topped with 2ft of concertina wire. All the entrances from outside are surrounded by cages with locked-gate entrances. The grounds are unkempt. The room had a musty smell (we used a whole can of Lysol). The curtains had holes. The furniture was mismatched. The bed was comfortable enough. The TV had no cable/streaming channels. Only digital broadcast channels. Free outlets were at a premium and the lights had burned out bulbs (so the room was very very dark). The tub was slippery when wet and there were no grab bars or slip mats. We found bugs (not cockroaches) in the bathroom. There was a population of feral cats. Some of the other guests spent a lot of every evening pretending to parent their feral (screaming) kids. This was not a pleasant stay and VERY OVERPRICED for what the property actually delivered. I would NEVER stay here again!
- 1/5
I never come back again.
- 2/5
Smell like poop
- 4/5
I y ủy và
- 4/5
Quiet and comfortable to stay over during holidays. I was lucky though that there isnt any disturbances. 4/5 stars because the Wifi connection at the upper floor is really bad. I always lost the connection
- 1/5
Someone had a key to my room and knocked in the morning. They didn’t wait and tried to come in then ran away when I got to the door. I called the front desk and they said all they could do was check the camera but he couldn’t do it then. I’ll never stay there again.
- 1/5
The property has Bob wire around it when you get out you step into a kitty litter box about 100 cats live in the property said something as a manager. He said they killed one this morning awful people addicted to drugs from 3 AM to 8 AM all over the place. My room was disgusting. The door lock was broken away from the wall. Very unsafe do not recommend disgusting just mortified! No ice at all on property and had an empty roll of toilet paper on arrival
- 3/5
Good for a quick one night stay. Water pressure and shower head was the only issue.
- 3/5
Great staff members
- 3/5
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and we didn't die.... but we felt like we were in the Bates Motel, I think there were some homeless people living there, the area isn't very safe, and the whole place just seems very rundown and sketchy. There were also motorcycles and cars revving all night and the walls were paper thin.
- 2/5
Place smells like a homeless encampment
- 5/5
Everything went very well
- 1/5
No refrigerator, curtain in the back was broken, bad smell in the room, only one small shampoo for two guests, whole complex was dirty, etc. Need a lot of improvement
- 5/5
Great wi fi rooms are clean and quite and the staff was pretty nice.
- 4/5
Decent for the price.
- 4/5
Overall for price it was good. The ice manchine broke. I neede ice.
- 1/5
The hotel was not in a good condition.Wont recommend it
- 1/5
The night person guy did not greet nor ask my preference of downstairs or upstairs. I’ve worked hospitality as front desk so I know the proper way of greeting and checking in/checking out people. I noticed there was a lot of empty parking slots. Gosh I wonder why Pets inside people rooms that are most likely guests who rent to the max days due to having no home. Yes, I can tell. Beginning to open the room, I immediately noticed a baby roach climbing up the door alerting me there are more insects somewhere. Finally inside the room, 1st thing I see if a dead baby roach on the floor (like I knew there would be). Then I noticed a marker next to the bed that has not been cleaned up either. The bed comforter has been stitched up noticeably. The flooring has paint stains and the whole room is very bland. It’s awfully disgusting!! To add the cherry on the top, an ASIAN ELDERLY MAN (assuming that’s the owner that people talk about) was knocking on the door at 10am. I’VE NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE NOR HAVE I EVER DONE THAT TO ANY GUEST AT ANY HOTEL IVE WORKED AT!!!!!! Old man, it’s 10am NOT 11am yet. I put my alarm on at 9am way before you came, I know what I’m doing. I thought there was someone trying to be shady knocking on my door. I have a 4 year old!!! We are not like your usual “guests”
- 3/5
Budget. You get what u pay for.
- 1/5
The property it’s OK, but it was a homeless sleeping in the hallway on the second floor next to my door. It was pretty weird that they don’t have security to check the people around there. There was a lot of people homeless.
- 2/5
The property is old, not well maintained.
- 1/5
Has holes in sheets, they don’t wash the sheets it hair hair all over, then they have bugs not only when u come in the main door but all in the room too. -10 out of 10 font recommend
- 5/5
Awesome!! Will definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
People yelling at each other in next room, could hear every word, property is old, but the room was clean, TV was limited to local channels, but it was only a 1 night stay
- 5/5
Good experience
- 5/5
I like to remodel and how quiet the rooms are.
- 5/5
The staff here are great, especially John!!! They completely updated all the rooms with new paint inside and outside, all new box springs and mattresses, and new bathroom fixtures. Room looked brand new
- 3/5
If you need a place to stay under $100 in the Anaheim/Long Beach area this will meet your budget. A Motel 66 type of place, secured parking is a plus.
- 3/5
The only reason John is updating and fixing things is because the city is doing an inspection.
- 5/5
They're doing a remodel and the rooms are nice clean and quiet.
- 1/5
smelly
- 3/5
The staff was really nice and friendly. This was a different experience in contrast to the other lodging option in the area I usually stay at.
- 5/5
John & max in the front office are great employees they both will go above and beyond what they should to help a guest anyway possible
- 1/5
Property is not maintained. Homeless people living in the parking lot. Cats hissing and yowling all night
- 5/5
The staff treated me like I was at a 5 star hotel and the room was clean and Quiet
- 1/5
When you get your room key VERY IMPORTANT WITHIN 10 minutes check for cockroaches. They didn’t show up until I bought a pizza 🗣️
- 2/5
the room stinks and be was very uncomfortable
- 1/5
The room smell so bad , the floor is sticky & dirty I have to wear socks to walk around .I stayed at 2nd floor I saw dogs & cats everywhere and they pee in front of my room & side walk
- 4/5
John & max are grim the front office
- 4/5
The manager’s john & max Oh great they always try to resolve a problem even if there is an issue that you still talk to you about it and refer this place to anybody at any time
- 1/5
Once again, the owner who likes to make people think he is the manager John There’s nothing but a pervert he wants to come to my room and yes, he can look around for damages because it was an argument that’s his business but when I tell him, my wife is in the restroom on the toilet, a disabled wife, he will not leave and refuses to leave my room until I go in the bathroom and get her off the toilet. I’m going to ask Paula Expedia customer service and make a major complaint against this property.
- 1/5
If you pay for a room Jon, the owner/not manager like he does not want people to know he’s the owner wants to come in your room and check for damages. I told him there was no damages. My wife was in the bathroom what kind of pervert is Jon the owner?
- 5/5
It's quiet
- 3/5
Lots of cockroaches. Our door didn't fit well in its frame, cold air and rain water flowed freely through the gap beneath it. Cigarette burns on all the furniture, bedding, counters. A nearby security gate was being slammed as guests entered or left the property at all hours. Garbage was piled heavily around an overflowing dumpster.
- 1/5
ASKED MANAGEMENT FOR A 1 PAGE DOCUMENT TO BE PRINTED, AND THEY SAID NO. PLACE IS A GETTO SLUM, WITH LOTS OF HOMELESS AROUND
- 5/5
Jon and Max are excellent. The front office staff will do anything they can to accommodate their guest. They keep it very safe. It is a great place to stay. I would recommend it to anybody in the Orange County area that need to be safe reasonable, quiet place to stay.
- 5/5
JOHN & MAX Oh great they always do what they can to accommodate their guest. Next is very friendly very easy to deal with. It will help you with anything they possibly can. I will recommend this place to anybody that needs a reasonable safe, clean place to stay.
- 4/5
And clean room
- 5/5
The managers Jon/max at both excellent they go above and beyond the call of duty just to take care of the guest you are a long-term residence. They will do anything to have a guest out.
- 5/5
The two managers John/max are excellent they will go beyond the requirements just to help out a guest that is a regular customer they would do almost anything to help a good standing guest. I recommend this property to anybody is great, and their staff is most excellent, especially John/Max.
- 5/5
The staff was great, the room was clean and Quiet got a great night sleep.
- 3/5
Nothing special about this place other than the walking druggies/zombies that come out after dusk. You can do much better with your money.
- 5/5
Room are clean and Quiet.
- 1/5
Bed bugs infested
- 1/5
The place was gross
- 1/5
Room smelled horrible and dirty asked the front desk for my money back and say no , so they gave me another room and it was dirty .
- 5/5
Great staff front office management John & max are the best in customer service I will always book at the garden grove inn when ever in town
- 5/5
Great location great shopping nearby. Easy bus route service, walking distance from him about anything right off of the major freeway in Garden Grove California front office manager Jon/Max are both very great most everybody in the front office and housekeepers are all very respectful manager Jon/max keep the property up to very clean standards and do not allow the homeless on the property. They immediately remove them.
- 4/5
The place was clean and comfortable, with helpful service.
- 2/5
Razor wire indicates unsafe area Food trash outside of rooms
- 1/5
Very poor hotel , homeless in side they sleep around walkway, what the hell
- 4/5
Across the street from dining. Well secured. The outdoor hallway carpets were the only thing - smelled bad - but the room was unaffected by it.
- 5/5
The rooms are very spacious and clean.
- 2/5
.
- 5/5
Rooms are clean great parking, the Staff is very nice.
- 3/5
You get what you pay for. The hotel is more a motel 2 stars. If you only want to sleep without thinking about the area or other amenities is an ok place.
- 2/5
looked totally not good for families, filled with Smoking and scary people around
- 5/5
I got a good night's sleep
- 5/5
Room was clean and it was quiet
- 1/5
The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel facility and premises were awful. Bed sheets and shower curtains had stains and were torn. No amenities. Everything felt run down and abused. Strangers tried peeking through the window and even the vending machines were behind locked gates. We felt unsafe and requested our money back from Hotels.com, who did that at once.
- 2/5
stayed for two nights, no room service provided during our stay (no fresh towels were brought nor was our room cleaned). our shower head shot out crazy and the drain wouldnt drain. was awaken by a couple of cats fighting as well as the gate being slammed shut as other guests arrived through the night. also lots of homeless people loitering around the entrance, easily accessible parking lot with zero security. you get what you paid for i guess.
- 1/5
It’s so dirty even the sink wasnt working properly or right at all, everything is so dirty dont take kids there at all theyll end up having a virus.
- 5/5
We have visited this property many times. John and the entire staff are always amazing and will go above and beyond!!!!
- 5/5
The manager John is great he will do anything for his guests he keeps the motel very safe and clean
- 1/5
Don’t know where are those 5 star coming from, this place is nasty, dog poop in the hallway, carpet is old and dirty, people are sleeping on the stairways even it’s locked gates.
- 1/5
The hotel was dirty! Smelly! Didn’t sleep well due to noise from outside. The neighbors were loud and I felt really unsafe with my children. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with children!
- 5/5
The staff is very polite and eligible,I be back for sure.
- 1/5
People should not have to live in these conditions.
- 5/5
The property is very decent except at night middle of the night after 1 AM all the way until 5 AM it is very noisy. You can call the office and they don’t do nothing about it but besides that it is excellent the owner Jon and the manager of Mac’s they are very excellent people.
- 1/5
They would not accept my reservation and wanted additional money on the overall price
- 1/5
They told me I could pay late cause I had to run to grab the money from the store because I’m from Missouri and I’m visiting so the banks are different and they kicked me out before I got back and threw all my stuff by the dumpster. And never called to tell me.
- 5/5
I am safe here and feel secure!
- 1/5
very dirty property
- 2/5
It’s not for everyone, smells poops of cats and unpleasant around
- 5/5
It was good place to stay we were there 1 night no issues
- 1/5
I am originally from a developing country, and the condition of this motel reminds me of a ghetto in my home country. There are people living in rooms with a dozen cats, and the rooms are extremely filthy. The security gate is ineffective because the lock is broken, leaving it unlocked all day and night. My room is very dirty, and both the shower and bathroom sink are in terrible condition. When I step out of my room, I’m greeted by the strong smell of cigarette smoke everywhere.
- 1/5
Horrible. Security gate door to the rooms didn't lock. Security was outside with a male that was drinking. There were people hanging out in front of the hotel and in the lobby. The lobby smelled like smoke. The room smelled like weed. The room door didn't lock from the inside. The comforter had cigarette burns. The shower head was low.
- 5/5
The hospitality from the owner is the best I’ve seen even better then resorts I’ve been to
- 1/5
From the ants in my bathroom that were all over the bathtub & on some of the towels, to my one and only large bedroom window that didn't close right & had no window lock at all, the front door which had a huge gap @ the bottom of the door and that's probably where the flies and bugs were coming in through, but let's not forget the big gaps around the entire perimeter of the door. Making it accessible for anyone outside ur door to actually look inside through the gap & get to clearly see you!! What a nightmare!!! very visible broken chain lock was still hanging there broken. After midnight the homeless were allowed to set-up camp with their carts and all in the side guest parking of the hotel. They were yelling, fighting, cussing and slamming the hotel gate metal bar door the entire night and morning. I got absolutely no sleep. They were right beside the office, only feet away and nobody ever came out of the office to say a single word to them. Major disappointment alll the way around.

The smell was pretty horrific. There was white bug repellent, all around the perimeter of the room, baby cockroaches everywhere.

Nice place to stay

Cockroaches everywhere. Homeless people in front office and around. Bed is clean but property is so old and rundown. Not worth the money. I don't recommend.

Horrible place to stay. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $10 and stay down the street at Motel 6.

The rooms were decent, but the environment around the area is a little more sketchy I didn’t like have to pay for ice 25 cents each The Motel make me feel like I was institutionalized.

There were cats, cockroaches, and crackheads running this place! We were awakened by screaming people trying to get into rooms, there were at least 12 cats outside our door (not even exaggerating, we took photos) and the number of roaches we killed was so disturbing.

Check-in process was excellent and fast, front desk staff member Erin was awesome and helpful. The room itself was basic but fairly comfortable, however the floors were very dirty. I had to wash my feet off several times during my stay due to how dirty they were after walking on the floors barefoot. The rest of the room appeared to be fairly clean and in decent repair. Shower is meant for someone closer to 5 foot tall and the shower head is set extremely low.

There was a lot of ants in the room. I had to buy my own ant traps to get rid of them.

Not in the best spot near Walmart and lots of other places to dine but it's eye opening for someone out of state I switched to another hotel with better amenities no microwave or refrigerator in my room and I saw other rooms with it available. Because they were working on them repainting or repairing them. Terrible tv selection just an option in a bind.

For starters we got to the hotel and they didn’t have our reservation. We spent 30 minutes trying to get checked in. We finally got our room and as we drove to the back of the building we saw lots of suspicious people roaming the parking lot, the walk ways smelled like urine, and there was people screaming and laughing loud enough that we could hear them in our room. Then we get into the room, it smells so bad. Extremely run down furniture and an uncomfortable bed. We stayed in there for about 15 minutes before we asked to get moved. In the next room we were checking for bugs when a roach ran out from under the bed. We left without hesitation. Only thing that sucks is we didn’t get our money back for the room and we were in the hotel for about an hour at most. Overall I would not recommend anyone ever stay here. It’s dirty, sketchy, and overall just felt unsafe. 0/10 stars
