Reviews
The hotel is undergoing significant renovations, which has caused some inconvenience to guests. Despite this, the location, staff, and cleanliness of the rooms are highly praised.
- Great location, within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and attractions
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Renovations causing noise and dust, not always disclosed during booking
- Rooms can be small and some have reported cleanliness issues

Hotel Maxwell Anderson clean, quiet, and conveniently located near restaurants and the hot springs. Coffee shop in house and pub/grill next door were bonus offerings. We also appreciated the parking lot a block away for $20/night.

Our company staff stayed at Hotel Maxwell Anderson and it was beautiful! We love Wild Coffee right in the lobby. Would highly recommend!
- 5/5
Fabulous location. Everyone and everything was perfect. Will definitely be back.

Location, very friendly and helpful staff Room was very small and there were only 2 drawers for our clothes and a very small half closet.

Had an old time feel but everything was clean and well taken care of.

The location is the best in downtown Glenwood Springs. The value for the stay at the property can't be beat. This will be our go to for future vacations to Glenwood Springs. My only suggestion is that something needs to be worked out for the parking situation. There is a parking lot in the rear of the building, with signs indicating that it's parking for Hotel Maxwell Anderson. However, the hotel does not manage this parking lot...a third party does, with their own app. It was a weekend and we needed to contact whoever manages the parking lot about something, and that third party had customer service hours only Monday through Friday. The hotel was stuck to help...because they don't manage the parking lot, yet the parking lot is exclusive for guests at the hotel. Something to look more into.

We love the historical feel of the hotel. The young lady that checked us in gave us a history lesson on the property and was super kind. Our room was clean and it was a great location

Bugs and candy on floor near bed.

Very good
- 1/5
Proximity to hot springs Issued $150 dollar ticket for parking in a disabled parking spot, with a current and displayed disabled placard. I asked the front desk the morning after arrival if it was ok to park there and they responded yes. Staff then lied and said it wasn’t the hotel when in fact it was their hired security. 2 hour parking all around the hotel so paid parking is only option. No signs directly in front of the parking stall only signs to the right blocked by the truck parked there.

We loved the location, our room and the vibe of the entire hotel.

Wonderful place for our honeymoon. Beautiful classic decor and gorgeous rooms. We stayed at in the Signature rooms. It was a love view for the mountains and the river.

Parking is close and convenient, The building is very old, which makes it a very unique place to stay. Having the Brew Pub in the same building is so convenient.

Stayed in The Cooper St Suite. Nicely set up room for a family. Room was filthy upon arrival and received zero service while we were there. No clean towels for 5 people, garbage full, no coffee service or clean cups. COVID has been over. The no service during stays needs to be rescinded, especially for $500 a night.

Hotel is like a maze. Certain elevators connect only to certain rooms. If you're on the 4th floor you have to use a wheelchair lift to get there unless you want to drag your suitcases up a flight of stairs. Layout was weird and confusing. Stained glass windows are sagging out of their frames and there is gum in the window wells on the 4th floor. Lobby is beautiful, but fireplace puts out no heat and it's cold in there. This is a biking city and elevators are so small, you can't bring your bikes to your room. They have a storage closet for bikes that is down a narrow flight of stairs with a sharp turn at the bottom. It was very awkward trying to get bikes in and out of there. You also have to get a receptionist to open the door each time. Often the receptionist was busy and it required a long wait. Also, when you book, you may be staying in a room off site. This is not explained on the website. Overall, not a great experience.

Many shops and restaurants in walking distance. Many of the stores close between 3-6pm. Restaurants close around 9pm and some a little later. The Glenwood Hotel with Hot Spring pools are also walking distance from the Hotel. Super nice facilities at the Pools. Wish we had another full day to explore the area better and go to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. Will have to come back again. Highly recommend this Hotel.

We stay once every couple months .. great location - great staff!
- 5/5
This charming hotel is beautifully updated and kept. It’s got a great location, too, above the Colorado River, near great restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and clean room in great location.
- 5/5
I wanted to bring my sister here because my husband and I had stayed a few years ago, when it was Hotel Denver, and it was still really nice. I hadn't taken pictures around the hotel last time, so I couldn't really compare since the remodel, but it was beautiful and comfortable. The only thing I noticed was that the windows no longer open so I couldn't hear the trains, which I love, but that's just me. My sister loved the place, and so did I!
- 5/5
Always a great treat when we stay. Was in new part this time. Ground floor a little loud with sidewalk traffic.
- 3/5
Mediocre
- 5/5
Clean room, great view, romantic, setting historic and a place you don’t want to tell anybody about so you can have all to yourself
- 4/5
Was supposed to be a Mountain View but I’m actually looking at the building next door.
- 4/5
The staff were very helpful. We had a room with a king size bed, and a pullout couch, hoping that two preteen children could sleep on the pullout couch. The pullout couch was smaller than a double slightly wider than a twin. It did not accommodate our two children. We were in newer rooms and they were very nice and clean. The location is incredible across the street from the Amtrak train station in view of the Colorado River. The amenities nearby with restaurants and shopping were great highly recommend this hotel. We really enjoyed sitting in the lobby with the different seating arrangements and the artwork and the high vaulted ceiling ceilings.
- 5/5
Every time we visit Glenwood Speings we stay at the Hotel Maxwell. The history inside the hotel is awesome! Friendly staff, quiet rooms and the location can’t be beat.
- 4/5
The only thing that bothered me was the front desk staff. On multiple occasions when I approached, I was not acknowledged, whether the staff member was alone or assisting another guest. I completely understand being busy with other customers, but even a simple acknowledgment or a quick “I’ll be with you in a moment” would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, every time I went to the front desk, whether for check-in, check-out, or to ask for directions to the parking, it felt like I was being ignored while staff were focused on conversations or their computer screens. I just wish the front desk staff had been a bit more friendly and attentive, that would have made an already great stay even better.
- 5/5
Very comfortable stay in a large corner room. Great location in the town as well.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel that feels upscale without the price tag. Very clean, comfortable mattress and big spacious bathroom. Great location walkable to the hot springs and Main Street. We can’t wait to come back!

We had an excellent 2 nite stay at the Maxwell Anderson hotel in Glenwood Springs. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and even the pillows were just right. All the staff were very courteous, with special thanks to the front desk individual on our first nite who helped change our room to an area that was less busy. Highly recommend!
- 3/5
Rooms are very stuffy and small and windows do not open and no ceiling fan great location and great view of the river
- 5/5
room impeccable and clean amd newly renovated, great mountain view
- 4/5
Comfortable stay for two nights. Everything was great until check out. It took about five days to resolve a parking charge. I had cancelled the second night and gave back the parking ticket. It took multiple texts over days before I finally got fed up and called to resolve. It took another 15-20 min on the phone being interrogated about what time I was parking and who I spoke with. I already gave them back the parking ticket in the morning so I had no access to the lot the second day/night. This was also documented through my texts with them. What should’ve been resolved swiftly was a ridiculous multi day conversation. Management really dropped the ball on hospitality here. Put a sour end to our experience.
- 5/5
Super cute, boutique style hotel. Stayed in the Cooper St room. Perfect for families traveling with kids or groups. Super spacious, but also very cozy. Hotel lobby is gorgeous.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent, close to train station. Walking distance to most everything. We loved the lobby.

Loved staying here!

When I checked in I was told I was in the “new” building. I’d read the reviews and was aware of the new section. The clerk said, “you have an amazing room, lots of privacy and super quiet.” Every time someone walked outside the door slammed wonderful at 6am. I assume it’s was dried flowers throughout the entrance to the building….never cleaned up. I was there 3 days obviously there’s no consideration whatsoever for the “new” section.
- 3/5
Guest should not have to pay extra for parking
- 4/5
Could be that we got stuck in a room on the side with no window, just a piece of stained glass that didn't open to give the effect of a window. The room was small, the bathroom was in need of a remodel. The wood floor in the bedroom had been seriously gouged and poorly patched. The whole thing just looked tired. It was perfectly serviceable though.
- 5/5
The Oaid Patrking was in a Snall Lot. Not recommended for Karge Cars!

The concierge was super helpful with recommendations for things to do. She set us up with discounts for area activities. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at the Maxwell hotel in Glenwood Springs. Kyra at front desk is an utter gem and the property is lovely. Our bedroom and sitting room were charming plus the extra half bath was unexpected and cherry on top is that everything was immaculately clean. Location is awesome ... you can stroll around the town to shop or eat plus easy walk to the hot springs. The onsite bar, restaurant, coffee shop and clothing/gift shop were a nice bonus as well.

- 5/5
Clean room. Staff very friendly held luggage until check in.
- 5/5
The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and so kond when we arrived late due to delays with flights! The bed was so comfy and the ambiance was perfect! Would highly recommend!!
- 5/5
Clean room, great location, could walk to dining.
- 4/5
It would have been a perfect stay, however it was very busy at night. I believe it is due to the age of the building as to why you can hear everything. The people above our room were extremely noisy and it was all through the night.
- 4/5
Room and hotel were lovely. The only issues were that the room was interior to the hotel with no functioning windows. For a claustrophobic person it wasn't great. Also, first floor was noisy as you could hear every conversation as if it were in your room. Room 195 is one to avoid.
- 5/5
Very nicely renovated!
- 5/5
It was a fun historic hotel that blended old and new. The walls are lined with neat historical photographs.
- 4/5
Overall, a great hotel experience

Excellent stop in Glenwood Spring. Super awesome hotel in downtown with view and brewery next door. The hotel was very unique and charming and staff was incredibly nice!!!

Great hotel room, amazing public area/lobby. Perfect for photos, best coffee shop in town
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Local to downtown. Clean and comfortable.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Lounge is cozy and enjoyable to hang out in.
- 4/5
Mountain view was not impressive, but the room itself was very nice and clean.
- 5/5
We usually stay at the Hotel Colorado, but wanted to give this a try and it did not disappoint. This is an absolutely stunning hotel with newly renovated rooms. The lobby is stunning and it has a sweet little coffee shop attached in addition to a great pub. The walkability to some of the best restaurants in Glenwood and a quick walk over the bridge to the Hot Springs pool is a 10/10. The front desk staff great! We are already looking at dates to rebook.
- 5/5
Clean room, delightful historic hotel, wonderful artifacts throughout the hotel with interesting histories. Don't miss out on wandering inside.
- 4/5
Small room but comfortable for a night - the lounge area is lovely and cozy with a fireplace seating area.
- 5/5
Wonderful person at check in. Rooms were spacious and clean. Very quiet.
- 5/5
The view from our room was nice. The room was clean and cute. The only downfall was there is no full length mirror in the room but there are plenty of mirrors in the 3rd floor hallway.
- 3/5
No windows in the room. No view
- 4/5
Very nice little hotel but the worst water pressure ever.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was helpful
- 5/5
Room was comfortable
- 4/5
The rooms are very different from what was pictured online for a river view. At least the one we got was. They also put us directly across from the elevator so we heard literally everyone on that floor coming and going all night. For how small the rooms are, I guess you pay for the location.
- 5/5
We had a very good time!!
- 5/5
Room 101 was amazing! Large modern and spotless. Front desk team amazing. Lobby is huge, lots of seating, great coffee shop. The location across street from Amtrak was perfect!
- 4/5
Great location but the walls are very thin.
- 4/5
This is a very cool, old hotel. Rooms were clean bathroom was renovated and looked great, only real complaint is the room did not have a microwave, and they wack you 20 bucks a day for parking in a city that has no people, that’s a bit excessive. This is not a big city after all, barely a small city!
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Nicely updated. Was no toiletries in bathroom. A little disappointed. My river view was no river view it was the train station. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Great Location near the best restaurants! Historic hotel.
- 5/5
Views were beautiful, customer service was great, we loved the atmosphere in lobby and restaurant. Thank you!
- 5/5

- 5/5
Great rooms, clean and well cared for. The Cooper street family suite was perfect for our family of 6. Hotel is next to everything. We didn’t need a rental car. The staff were accommodating and professional. Highly recommend taking the Amtrak to Glennwood Springs. It’s 100 foot walk to the hotel.
- 2/5
The room purchased through Expedia was not in the main hotel, it was in an annex building a few doors down the block. It was actually just like entering a hotel hallway from a sidewalk electronic door. Very strange. Was told, Rather in politely, from the front desk that that was what you purchased through Expedia”. The Front Desk personnel also claimed, untruthfully, that there were no more rooms in the main building. I called separately and verified that there were. The Expedia description did not mention this. Very disappointing experience.
- 5/5
Always a fantastic time staying there. Also found out you can order a drink from the brewery then take the drink to the hotel lobby to chill infront of the fire! Was amazing!
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly, and the room was very unique and clean.
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
It was a great room. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Always!
- 4/5
Very nice, I just didn’t like having to pay for parking. Other than that it was a very nice stay.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, comfy, very friendly staff. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Clean, cute boutique vibes without being pretentious, good coffee shop and places to hang out.
- 4/5
Boutique vibe great location
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our two-night stay in Glenwood Springs at the Maxwell Anderson Hotel. The room was quiet, clean, and very comfortable, and the staff was genuinely friendly and efficient throughout our stay. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Best staff, best robes, really liked the new sandalwood lotion scent in my room
- 5/5
Very clean, cozy and lots of charm and style.
- 5/5
Our room was great but we learned not all rooms are the same. They have an old and newer part of the hotel. Try to get in the newer part, rooms are substantially larger. Overall, great hotel. Would stay again for sure. And if you’re going to iron mountain you can get a discount if you book thru the hotel.
- 5/5
The room was perfect, very clean and thoughtfully designed. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
very nice room, good location
- 5/5
The decore got me first, then the receptionist was very polite, and the room was crazy cozy. All in all great stay.
- 5/5
Nice remodel and were very accommodating. We love the location. Stayed here during the remodel and were not aware. Substantially better stay with great service!
- 5/5
My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Maxwell Anderson Hotel. First and foremost, the staff was incredibly accommodating and professional. Hotel itself has quirk and charm, honors the integrity of the original building but with updated renovations. Rooms are very clean and comfortable (maybe I would recommend more comfortable pillows but that’s just me!) Oh, also, incredibly central location, you can walk to so many destinations. I would return or recommend this place to others.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel. Amazing rooms, very clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Character of the facility. Loved the decor and old documents featured on the walls as art
- 5/5
We really enjoyed this hotel! The history of the building was integrated into the unique decor with modern comforts. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Nice classy hotel located right in the heart of downtown. Easy walk to the hot springs and restaurants.
- 5/5
$20 day park. Dogs everywhere. We happened to get a room that hadnt had a animal in lately, so we were lucky. Its funny how instead of making accommodations for a dog … they try to make an accommodation for a human. But really its a dog facility.
- 5/5
enjoyed the bar
- 5/5
Enjoyed the stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel. Definitely will stay again.
- 5/5
Love the renovation. Happy they kept the old time charm.
- 5/5
The room was immaculant, the bedding very luxurios and comfortable..
- 5/5
Great room and staff was excellent ! Can’t wait to go back !
- 5/5
Nice room and the staff was friendly. Lots of dining options within walking distance.
- 1/5
Terribly bad experience! Hotels are what hotels are for, for adults to enjoy them selves if ya know what i mean and when people disturb that inatame moment, it really ruined the experience
- 5/5
Everyone was great at check in. Perfect location. Great room and very cozy.
- 5/5
Good ole Max never disappoints and our last stay was no different. Staff is awesome and welcoming, room is always clean. Tons of walkable food but we always end up back at GC brew pub and Wild for coffee in the morning.
- 5/5
Clean room, awesome staff, unique rooms, and awesome coffee staff! I would definitely recommend again.
- 5/5
Fabulous always
- 5/5
The room was great! Spacious and laid out perfectly for my family and I.
- 5/5
Beautiful lobby - sat by fire many hours. Walkable and clean with comfy beds. Parking is $20 a day. I suggest parking on street.
- 5/5
Excellent Staff
- 5/5
The rooms were gorgeous! Love the historical tributes throughout. The staff was very accommodating and helpful! Will 100% stay again.
- 3/5
The historical aspect of the hotel was great. The room was clean when we got there. However, we stayed for two nights and two days and not once did housekeeping come in and replace our towels or give us clean glasses or do anything. I did find the housekeepers with their cart and asked for towels and they were very friendly and happily gave me what I asked for. For the price, I feel like housekeeping should be included for a two night stay. Also, it was $40 extra for parking. Totally worth it, but it would’ve been nice to know that upfront. The restaurant and bar attached had great food and it was super convenient.
- 5/5
This hotel was a 10!
- 5/5
Fabulous, cute and very clean boutique hotel. My only issue was that it was rare to see anyone at the front desk. Even called and no answer.
- 5/5
Great place.
- 5/5
This was a beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Glenwood Springs. Convenient location near the walkable bridge over the Colorado River. Clean and comfortable rooms and a polite staff. The lobby is super comfortable, great coffee shop downstairs. The hotel is dog friendly so there were lots of pups coming and going. My husband has allergies, but the hardwood floors and cleanliness meant he hardly noticed the fluffy pals. Great stay overall and would highly recommend! Plan on paying for parking since it is downtown.
- 5/5
Close to all restaurants.
- 5/5
The location was great. The hotel was very charming and adorable. The front desk staff were so kind and check in was easy. The room was nice, clean, and perfect for a getaway!
- 5/5
The remodel is fabulous. Everything is attended to with Customer Service in a professional and kind manner. We had a beautiful room/suite and always come here for Christmas and look forward to many more visits. The only suggestion I would make is in the hotel lobby to provide a beverage area where you could make hot tea and use a microwave
- 3/5
They put me in a room right beside the elevator so it was really loud. Parking is a little inconvenient. There’s a tiny lot down the street a little ways and it’s $20 a night. Street parking is free but was nonexistent on Saturday evening when I arrived. It’s a cute hotel, the room seemed tiny. And maybe I’m the only one but there was a business card with the name of who cleaned the room with a cash app code on it so you could provide a tip which I think is tacky and unprofessional! The only real benefit of this hotel is its super convenient location. I don’t think I’d stay here again though.
- 5/5
Room was very clean and spacious. Comfy bed. We always love staying here.
- 4/5
Clean and updated room. Nice lobby. Walking distance to shops. Enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
Friendly, professional, welcoming staff. Smooth check-in process. They weee informative and helpful.
- 4/5
I love how comfortable and luxurious the Maxwell Anderson can feel. The robes they provide in the rooms are soft and high quality, the beds are comfortable, and usually everything is pristine. A couple things I hope they will consider for the future is 1) microwaves in the rooms, for long stays this is helpful, and 2) better shampoo and conditioner - the bottles and products currently in use feel incredibly cheap and out of place with the ambiance of the whole hotel. I love it here and the staff is always friendly and hospitable. With a couple minor adjustments this place could be perfect.
- 5/5
Love the place. everything was great except the heater/blower fan was very loud all night long
- 5/5
Really nice hotel, great lobby, beautiful rooms, excellent location
- 5/5
The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and well appointed. The lobby/was beautiful and a relaxing place to gather and enjoy the ambiance of times gone by.
- 5/5
Spotless, well appointed room, very corteous staff.
- 3/5
The hotel and staff was top notch. Our room was very clean, the hotel was beautiful, and the staff was kind and attentive. The reason for three stars was the complete lack of water pressure in the room. Showering took ten minutes longer just to wash the soap off our bodies. We would have stayed there repeatedly if the water pressure would have been adequate.
- 5/5
We always love and you stay there. We go every year.I'm already set up fornext year. Wonderful service
- 5/5
The staff was incredibly helpful, the location was convenient to the train station and the rest of downtown, the coffee shop and brewpub were both delicious, and the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Great stay. Would stay again if in the area.
- 4/5
Staff was courteous.
- 4/5
Charming rehab'd old hotel. Super convenient to the Amtrak station directly across the street.
- 5/5
Room was great, very clean, friendly staff. Great location
- 5/5
Everything is great
- 5/5
Great room. Only issue is the tv only had Fox “news”
- 3/5
I wanted an old funky, cool spacious room in a cool old hotel and was, instead, put in a newer small room down the street from the original hotel! It was not what I had booked and was very disappointed.
- 5/5
Jjj
- 5/5
Amazing staff - clean rooms- super cozy
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay here! The location is truly unbeatable. Everything was within walking distance, which made the entire trip so easy and enjoyable. The room was clean and cozy. We will be back.
- 5/5
Excellent staff, easy checkin, complementary parking would be nice. Room was very nice, well insulated to keep the noise of the main road out, perfect downtown location.
- 4/5
The lobby remodel from what used to be Hotel Denver has created a warm, inviting and upscale space. Spacious with high ceilings. The comfort king room was a good value for the price, but I'd choose a different room next time because it was essentially equivalent to an interior room on a cruise: dark with "windows" you couldn't see out that let in little light and didn't open. We chose that room level based on reviews that it was quiet, but from 9-11 pm all we heard were nonstop doors slamming, the elevator dinging, and heel stomping from above.
- 5/5
Love the decor of this hotel, and the brewpub and coffee shop attached to the hotel are the best in town!
- 5/5
Excellent stay. Room was beautiful and clean.
- 5/5
Really neat hotel and very clean.
- 4/5
The front desk manager was very happy to change our room when we asked. Many aspects of this hotel are very cool and historical. It does seem that it has been newly renovated and some details left out. All in all a good experience with plenty of walkable dining options.
- 5/5
Love the remodel. Could not be more convenient for the iconic, Amtrak Zephyr, and about a 25 minute walk to the glorious Iron Mountain Hot Springs. The pullout twin is my only complaint.
- 1/5
The room I reserved on the Expedia web site in the photos was not assigned to me. The room I reserved that had a king bed with enough space with a couch and desk in the photos provided on your web site was not reserved for me at check in. They assigned a room with a king be with no couch and barely enough room to walk around the bed an no place to store our baggage. We complained at the front desk. They said they could upgrade to the room we thought. We reserved but we would be charged $50 per night to upgrade. So the Hotel Maxwell Anderson is charging our credit card and informed us we must ask Expedia for a credit to our account. This is the second issue time we had an issue in the las two months. This s seems to be false advertising or bare and switch on Expedia’s web site.

The hotel is well-appointed. Very clean, friendly staff. I would have preferred a room with an exterior window as opposed to one that had a window to the lobby. The bathroom had a fan you couldn’t turn on and off so any trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night will surely wake anyone who’s in the room with you. The location is unbeatable. Parking was easy for $20/night. It’s a dog-friendly hotel.
- 2/5
Super basic with no amenities. Expensive parking down the street. No free coffee. Rooms are old 80s and bare. Looks like an asylum. But hey the lobby was pretty. Pictures looked great and high end… but this was not the case.
- 5/5
Hotel Maxwell Anderson has been around since the early 1900s, beautifully updated but still full of character. Stepping inside felt like walking through history with all the comforts of today. My room was spotless, cozy, and quiet. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond. They helped me get discounts for the Adventure Park and even told me about a local rideshare that costs just one dollar. I can’t sing enough praises for this place. If you’re ever passing through or planning an adventure nearby, I highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Room was flawless, newly built, great design and quiet! The staff was excellent and so friendly. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
Perfect weekend getaway for two.
- 5/5
The staff were so kind and the coffee shop downstairs was excellent
- 2/5
The bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced at a hotel. We slept horribly. I won't ever be back.
- 5/5
Quiet room, nice updated decor that maintains the character of the old hotel. Mattress and sheets was comfortable.
- 3/5
Bathroom could use detailed cleaning. Too much hair left behind. Housekeeping staff too loud outside room speaking among themselves or on the phone. Hallway floors made of wood so you can hear all footsteps and roll baggage going by. Hotel location is good and the price is fair.
- 5/5
Very much enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Great location right downtown near good restaurants and shopping. We’ll absolutely stay there again the next time we’re in Glenwood Springs.
- 5/5
WE LOVE THE OLD TIME HOTEL FEEL, MAIN LOBBY AREA IS VERY COOL, LIKE BEING IN YOUR LIVINGROOM
- 5/5
A young lady named Janeka was very helpful and went out of her way to help us.
- 3/5
The decoration is very nice, which leads you to believe there to be a high level of polish and staff hospitality. Don't be fooled. The staff are very middling. I asked about late check-out, was told to call the office in the morning as "Only the morning team can do that." Guess what? Called in the morning and was told "We are not allowed to do this." Such great staff.
- 5/5
Lobby is really nice and brewery a plus in that its next door and they allow drink from brewery in lobby.
- 5/5
Our room was clean & quiet, the bed was comfortable as was the room temperature.
- 5/5
We stayed in room 305 (Riverview) for our wedding anniversary. Every detail was exquisite. The bed was comfy, the room spacious, clean and beautiful. Front desk (Estaban) was super helpful. Thanl you for an amazing visit!!
- 5/5
Beautiful & lovely
- 5/5
Beds comfy, rooms spacious, clean and quiet! We will definitely recommend this place to our friends!
- 5/5
Convenient location when traveling by train. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The room was charming and clean. We loved having a coffee shop right in the hotel, and several restaurants and shops within walking distance.
- 5/5
Clean and nice staff
- 4/5
It was a wonderful room. the whole hotel has a great feel to it. It is also really close to everything we wanted to do in Glenwood Springs.
- 4/5
Great hotel! Clean and spacious rooms. Robes in the rooms are SO nice. Our Room was advertised as “multiple beds”. But it was just a king bed and a small pull out sofa bed and VERY uncomfortable. But other than that I rate 5 stars!
- 3/5
Smallest room I've ever seen. No place to open luggage. No room in the bathroom for toiletries. At $500 a night. Obscene!
- 3/5
River view room was way smaller than expected, plus there isnt a river view withh the train station in the way, dont let that fool you... The staff was friendly even with our obnoxious pet. But overall a decent stay. Great walking distance to many good restaurants, and a good central location
- 4/5
The cutest most convenient stay ever! Excellent food/drinks at the pub. Fantastic coffee/breakfast shop. Walkable to everything!
- 4/5
This is my 2nd stay at the property and it’s my new favorite hotel in Glenwood. I will say however that this time around I opted for the cheapest room available and I won’t be doing that again. I get that it’s the cheapest room available on the property but the window was made up of stained glass and it was bolted shut. Pretty absurd really and it gave a bit of a claustrophobic feel. I don’t care if the view stinks, I just want to open my window or at least be able to see out of it. Regardless, I’ll be going back but upgrading my room.
- 3/5
This was a very last-minute check in. Very nice gentleman working in the front desk was very busy. I had just gotten out of surgery a few days ago and wanted to nice place to stay thank you to the hotels.com because I wanted to extend it and I did it through the hotel itself and paid over. Double great hotel great views definitely overpriced.
- 5/5
Beautiful property in great location. Can walk everywhere from there.
- 5/5
Beautiful, renovated but historic property so it is a comfortable and luxurious stay but with character!
- 5/5
Esteban checked us in—so friendly & helpful. We loved the building, decor. History of place kept alive in the way it was decorated & furnished. Unique & fun & cozy. We were just passing thru (for 12 hours only) on a cross-country road trip but this was the one place we wanted to stay longer.
- 3/5
It’s an older hotel which is fine but LOUD. Couldn’t sleep. The bathroom is tiny.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Maxwell Anderson. Our room was in the new area, and very spacious. The bed and bedding was clean and comfortable, which is very important to me. Wyld Coffee Shop on the first floor is a definite plus. Parking is half a block offsite, but it was easily accessible, although it would be nice if elders could request valet parking in bad weather. We'll definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
We stayed in room 712 with two king beds because that’s all they had available at time of booking. It’s a standalone building a half block away from the main hotel. The building is an old house where the downstairs is the room and the upstairs is still a private residence. You can hear the resident stomping around upstairs, listening to music, talking to their guests. The room itself is big, open and spacious and had cute features like two separate rooms for the shower and the toilet but it needs some work to meet expectations. The false ceiling is tacky and the main support column is leaning. It may be the way the column settled but definitely looks a little sketchy. It could make a cute bnb if you got the whole building and a kitchen but for the price they charged this was well below expectations.
- 5/5
We always enjoy staying here.
- 3/5
The old look in the rooms are gone. several shades of gray-boring! Shower was so light it took forever to get the shampoo out of my long hair. Won't be staying there anymore. SAD
- 5/5
The Hotel was Fantastic. The only thing that was kind of a issue was check in was not until 4pm and the 20.00 a night for the parking.
- 3/5
Disappointing, Booked 9 months on advance and got a Historic Veiw room...thexwindow was stained glass...no view. For the over 500 we spent, would not go bak.
- 3/5
Pretty good. Parking is an issue (paid seperately) and during busy times it's hard to check in due to car congestion at the hotel entrance. Rooms are quite small and don't have a microwave. Would be nice to have laundry bags provided in the room.
- 4/5
Great historic bit updated hotel. Glenwood canyon bike trail along river is great, pool upgraded and although busy could spread outand not feel crowded.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay with easy access to the hot springs.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, discount on hot springs & complimentary towels. Beautiful & unique decor.
- 3/5
Tiny room in a separate space from main hotel. Felt like a tiny Airbnb.
- 5/5
Great hotel , very comfortable, conveniently located, and quiet.
- 5/5
Each staff member was very couteous and friendly!
- 1/5
We couldn't stay. The elevator only went to the third floor and we were assigned a fourth floor room accessed by a wheelchair lift that was unavailable when we tried to use it. We are 75 yrs old and the luggage cart full of luggage and dog necessities were too much to attempt with bad knees and a long day of travel. The hotel was sold out so an alternative was unavailable. Additionally we were told our room was ready but hotel staff was still working to make the room available when we left our luggage on the third floor to inspect the room. We were excited with anticipation to stay at the old Hotel Denver but our excitement turned to profound disappointment. Even taking the dog out for a nighttime break would be something that would become troublesome with nighttime stairs and a lift that might or not might be available.
- 5/5
This beautifully renovated hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood area. It is close (very walkable) to the downtown area and to many dining and entertainment options, including the hot springs pools. The train station is a very short walk away. A coffee shop and a brewery restaurant can be accessed without leaving the building, if the weather dictates staying in. Helpful and professional staff complete the package.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, friendly staff...beautiful mountain town!
- 5/5
Great experience
- 4/5
My only complaint, although like I said it is a older hotel.. Is that we could easily hear into the hallways and other rooms. We were woken up multiple times by simply footsteps above us that echoed loudly, and the sounds of people leaving their rooms in the early morning and room service cleaning them. We were hoping to get a good night's rest after camping and sleeping not so well, but I can count at least four times we woke up from regular sounds, that wouldn't be heard in other, newer hotels. Overall, very clean, comfy bed, nice staff. maybe bring earplugs though.
- 2/5
2 problems. 1: the room we were given much different then, and inferior to the one reserved. 2: no elevator for final floor to room. Would have chosen different hotel had either of these been disclosed.
- 4/5
Great atmosphere. Pretty quiet. Great front desk staff!
- 4/5
Nice place to stay in Glenwood. Love all of the updates, but was surprised they don’t recycle. The tap water doesn’t taste very good, so they give you water bottles upon request, but they don’t recycle? Seems odd in today’s climate. Offer recycling or a filtered water station for people to fill their own bottles. It’s the responsible thing to do!
- 5/5
Historic location, convenient to restaurants, shopping, and train station.
- 5/5
I was very impressed by this hotel and my hubby travel a lot. We had a gorgeous suite with 2 bathrooms - we weren’t even expecting that. Our room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was close to restaurants and the train station. If I go back to Glenwood I would look forward to staying there again!
- 5/5
Cute room
- 5/5
Can walk to any activity in the town.
- 3/5
Upon checking in, the guy told us because we were checking in so late, he wouldn’t charge us the $20 for parking. I checked my credit card statement today, and we were charged. So not cool.
- 5/5
We stayed in the Top of the Town suite and it was amazing. Love having the brewery on the bottom floor because it's truly some of the best food in town! And great location watching the train come and go and walking distance to the Hot Springs and all of the awesome bars and restaurants!
- 4/5
As a couple we enjoyed staying.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Great staff. I love the bath soap! The bed was super comfy! We will return!
- 5/5
Great vibe hotel. Book it.
- 3/5
our reservation directly through the hotel website and our room was fantastic. It had been recently remodeled and was very clean with good views. After that experience, we were both excited to return. On our return trip this past week, we made a reservation through the hotels.com website. I am not sure if this affected the location of our room, but we definitely had a different experience this time around. Our assigned room was not located in the main hotel area. We had to walk up and around the brewery and it was located in a separate entrance. It looked like there may be six or eight rooms in that area. All of them located on the ground floor. It just didn’t seem like that area received much attention by the staff. The rooms were “recently” renovated, which is the good news. On the negative side, the main hallway was in desperate need of a vacuum, and the window wells were full of bugs, dirt, and other debris. No idea how any of that could be missed. Also kind of weird to have heavy foot traffic walking by your window throughout the day and night. The alternative exit to the hallway was also full of boxes. Not sure why that was the case. Would I stay at this hotel again? Only if I was guaranteed a room on the floors directly above the lobby. Otherwise, not a chance.
- 5/5
New ownership has really brought the experience up. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Great location near restaurants, shopping and attractions.
- 5/5
Great location near shops and restaurants. Historic look and comfy room. Coffee/bake shop inside and brewpub connected with good food
- 4/5
Beautiful rooms and hotel. I loved having the coffee shop just downstairs. The only downside was that the bed was very uncomfortable
- 3/5
Noisy traffic at night
- 4/5
Our main concern was being in a room at ground level with a window facing out to pedestrians and the road. We didn’t feel comfortable with just the sheer curtain cover since people can look down in your room. But, having the blackout drape closed all the time made us feel like we were in a dark dungeon. (That may sound a bit dramatic, but the mornings were not pleasant. I found myself dressing and realized a pedestrian was standing right outside my window! not looking in but you can imagine my astonishment). Maybe investing in a one sided film so we could look out but people can’t look in would make us feel more secure? Another ding was lack out outlets. We had to unplug lamps and share and use the bathroom for tech as the lamps’ plug-ins are for older usb models. All that said…lovely time and staff was nice when interacted. Just a few recommendations to help make ur guests in the new addition feel comfortable.
- 5/5
The AC unit in the room was extremely loud.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed how nice and clean it was. Also near restaurants, walking distance.
- 5/5
Parking is not convenient
- 3/5
However, we were barely able to sleep because of the very loud air conditioner. The next morning it took almost 15 minutes before the hot water arrived in the shower on the third floor. Hopefully theses problems can be fixed as we otherwise love the hotel.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
Great hotel yummy food at the pub next door very comfy beds

- 2/5
I have previously stayed here when it was the Hotel Denver. It was great back then. This trip was not as good. No maid service, water pressure was horrible, overcharged for parking @$20 per night and staff that struggled to understand me speaking English. I will be taking my business elsewhere next time.
- 5/5
Lovely Hotel with great choices to eat and swim within walking distance
- 5/5
Rooms were unique and spacious
- 4/5
Loved location near river, hot springs, shopping and dining options. On the negative side, the Mountain View we paid for (and was confirmed by front desk) was lame - essentially non-existent. Our room looked over an adjacent roof and you could barely see the mountain above it. Also the HVAC sounds like a jet engine when it turns on.
- 4/5
Quirky boutique hotel with convenient downtown location, but the room is small and the bathroom didn’t have counter space.
- 4/5
The hotel looks great! Room service not offered even after request was made.
- 5/5
Excellent service, great location, comfortable.

- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room, great decor
- 5/5
Very nice hotel conveniently located
- 5/5
This is the old Hotel Denver. Loved the decor. We had a King room & was very surprised with the entry/sitting room. Bonus!
- 5/5
It's a nice clean hotel that is well positioned in the town of Glenwood Springs. The room was small, but very comfortable and modern.
- 5/5
Our stay was great. They accommodated a delivery and had the things set and ready in the room before my arrival. Staff were very helpful and friendly and were very response to texts when we needed something.
- 5/5
Great place in the center of all activities.
- 4/5
We loved the Maxwell Anderson for our girls trip
- 4/5
The hotel is beautiful and the double King room was very spacious. Parking was close to the hotel and was in an open lot. The attached coffee shop and Brewpub were delicious. My only complaint was the noise. Someone across the hall left their dog unattended and it whined and barked until they returned. You can hear every door opening & closing, the neighboring room's conversations and TVs. We made a noise complaint about the room above us at 4am. The desk said they'd speak with them but the noise continued until we gave up on sleep around 8am.
- 5/5
The hotel is in the heart of historic downtown Glenwood Springs. Very charming and convenient to the hot springs pool and numerous eateries.
- 5/5
Quiet hotel nice for a fun romantic getaway.
- 4/5
The property has very nice rooms, they are not huge but they do their job for sleeping when getting around town. The decor on the main floor is really beautiful, staff at the lobby was nice.
- 5/5
Super comfortable bed. Beautiful renovation. Great location and value
- 5/5
Comfortable bed, nice lobby area, close to restaurants and hot springs. Very nice hotel; we’d stay here again!
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel with style and comfort.
- 5/5
Cute little historic hotel in downtown Glenwood Springs. Walking distance to the hot springs, be sure to ask about a pass & towel at the hotel to bring. Water stations in the lobby, coffee shop in the building and the lobby is decorated nicely. The is an elevator, everyone I engaged was efficient, helpful and kind.
- 5/5
Highly recommended.
- 5/5
There is a Pub restaurant connected to it and also plenty of restaurants and shops right by it. We ate at Ming's Cafe 2 times because it was so good (I had the Orange Chicken) and it is next to shops. Allow time to get a table because all the shops and restaurants are close together. We also had Sweet Coloradough for breakfast, a 5 minute drive from the hotel which was a good experience and delicious! The Beds were really comfortable and room was clean. Parking is tight in the 2 parking lots but was nice having parking without having to search for parking. We parked in the North lot right around the corner from the hotel and seemed to do the job but really tight fyi.
- 5/5
Bed was comfortable, but the pull out couch was not. Staff was very accommodating
- 5/5
Would stay again
- 5/5
Lots of space ; clean

Lovely old hotel that’s been nicely updated. It is directly across the street from the Amtrak (and Rocky Mountaineer

Amazing hotel! The historic charm and 1st class customer service!
- 5/5
Great place
- 3/5
Beds very comfortable but bathroom was cramped with one pedestal sink and poor water pressure
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, walking distance of everything, clean.
- 5/5
Good location, great coffee shop in building.
- 5/5
Great rooms
- 3/5
Comfortable beds, very poor water pressure, tiny bathroom with no counter space
- 4/5
The bed was so comfy, the hotel is gorgeous, the views are gorgeous we loved everything expect the rooms are tiny. However, that won’t keep us from coming back!
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and well kept! The restaurant there was very good with reasonable prices! Close to shops and restaurants! Would stay again in a heartbeat.
- 5/5
Unexpectedly, a situation occurred that was completely beyond anyone’s control—a bath in the room above ours flooded. From the moment I called the front desk, the staff jumped into action. Iris answered the phone and immediately sent a maintenance team member to our room. Within minutes, he arrived—kind, professional, and even managed to bring some humor to a stressful situation. I wish I had caught his name because he absolutely deserves recognition. Right after maintenance left, a member of the housekeeping team arrived and thoroughly cleaned the bathroom—even the tub, which hadn’t been used. She worked quickly and efficiently, and I was impressed by her attention to detail, especially while I was on a call and unable to thank her properly. Later, we stopped by the front desk to purchase tickets to the adventure park and met Hayden, the manager. He recognized us right away and had already prepared some options to make up for the inconvenience—even though none of it was the hotel’s fault. Hayden not only upgraded our room but also provided complimentary tickets to the hot springs. His professionalism and sincere concern really stood out, and his efforts did not go unnoticed.

This place was
- 5/5
I thought this hotel was very taken care of. It was clean, vintage, and a very easy and convenient stay at an affordable rate. This hotel does not have a gym or pool but outside of that the only other thing that caused difficulties were the general population bathrooms not being open. Otherwise, this was a great stay and the workers along with the entire area did an awesome job with our experience.
- 5/5
That said, the Pullman was great as was the restaurant attached to the hotel. There are good choices...
- 5/5
Great hotel with comfy bed and close to everything
- 5/5
Such a beautiful location and stay- couldn’t be more convenient to the train station!!
- 5/5
Great historic hotel close to restaurants and shops
- 4/5
There was an objectionable food odor emanating throughout the second floor and into my room every afternoon, ostensibly from the attached restaurant.
- 5/5
Historic. Well appointed.
- 5/5
Recent renovation on the building makes it new and fresh.
- 5/5
good
- 4/5
Nice newly remodeled with spacious room comfortable beds. The sink and bathroom area are very small with little counter space which is somewhat inconvenient.
- 5/5
The one thing that would have made my visit better? Valet parking.
- 2/5
Cooper family suite is not very good for families. The bunk bed was dangerously high, the various noises coming from the hvac, the coffee shop across the hall and upstairs woke us up several times. The room always had cleaning and service carts in front of the door which made us feel like we were being put in a storage area. The TP was very thin and not good for kids wiping.
- 4/5
Had to ask for clean towels and garbage removal. Limited amenities in the room. But overall hotel is lovely.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Clean and nicely decorated. Would definitely stay again. I gave 5’s on everything other than the 4 on facilities. My air conditioning wasn’t working for several hours but staff was able to fix it soon after I reported it. Wonderful staff!
- 4/5
We have been staying here for years. Our room was very small and our mattress was uncomfortable. Probably least favorite room of all of our visits here. We were right by the elevator and ice machine which was unfortunate. Love the location and ease of check-in and check-out. Would just pick another room next time.
- 3/5
I see pros and cons. We shall start with the pros....The room was clean and maintained. The shower was a perk. I like to be able to take a hot shower without the noise disturbing the guests down the hall. It was quiet. I didn't even hear any neighbors for most of the time there. Now the cons... I like fresh mountain air. My window was screwed closed with no screen. The television had a volume restriction limited to about the level of a mouse fart. I could barely hear it. And if the a/c is on, you better have captions turned on. I did appreciate that some movie streaming was available. But the wifi did not support it. Imagine trying to watch a movie hearing every 3rd word and seeing every 10th frame. Why have a fridge but no microwave? Only one uncomfortable chair option to sit it, otherwise the bed is the only seating. What if I don't want to sit on the bed? We chose this venue because of proximity to the train station. In future trips to town we will actually opt to drag our luggage somewhere else. It's my opinion that this venue is worth only about 1/2 of what we actually paid.
- 5/5
The hotel was great. Clean stylish and perfectly located. The front desk staff was of little help as far as recommendations and any information about the surrounding area. Once I was checked in they seemed to act like their job was done.
- 5/5
Unique rooms and decor. Having to pay for parking, even when theres no spaces available on the street
- 5/5
Best hotel and room in Glenwood
