Reviews
The Waverly Inn is a charming, historic bed and breakfast with a convenient location within walking distance to downtown Hendersonville. Guests consistently praise the friendly and attentive staff, delicious made-to-order breakfast, and social hour with complimentary drinks and snacks. However, some guests find the rooms and bathrooms small, the beds uncomfortable, and the street noise bothersome.

- Friendly and attentive staff
- Small rooms and bathrooms

Breakfasts were great. There was a large selection catering to everyone. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was great! Would stay here again!

Excellent parking. Breakfast fresh and good.
- 5/5
Close proximity to downtown and beautiful inn. Breakfast was excellent and front host was so inviting and welcoming. Nothing
- 5/5
We loved everything about this place and will definitely be returning.
- 4.5/5
Room didn't get very dark.
- 5/5
The breakfast was to your order every day. Easy walk to downtown Hendersonville.
- 5/5
If you love B&B's this is a great find. It's in downtown hendersonville allowing you to walk to so many shops and restaurants in the area. It is safe. You are right next door to a fire department. We loved the charm of the house. The rooms are well equipped and we loved the variety in the rooms. Although we didn't utilize the massage services we talked to a guest who did and she said it was wonderful. We are considering that option for a future stay. All the staff were so helpful, friendly and just lovely hosts. The cocktail hour on the porch was great and the made to order breakfast was wonderful. The waverly Inn was everything we could have hoped for in a B&B and more.
- 2.5/5
I didn’t like being on the third floor, it really should say that in the description for the room. The beds are terrible, between hard beds and so much road noise we got no sleep, breakfast was disappointing, not a traditional bed and breakfast, more like a hotel breakfast. Definitely not worth the total we paid.
- 4.5/5
Beautiful inn. Spacious room and sitting room! Nicely appointed rooms, dining and lobby areas Nothing

From the photos on Expedia we were excited for our stay at the Inn. Upon our arrival, there was no parking where we had been instructed to park and only street parking was available. Check in was fine. When we walked into our room we discovered it not to be as pictured on Expedia. It wasn’t even the same bed as pictured and we really should have questioned why the bathroom photo only showed the top of the shower door. The street noise coming into the room was very loud. I sat down on the bed to see if it was at least comfortable and it too creaked loud enough to wake the dead. For a light sleeper this was never going to work. I looked around the room, compared it to the picture on line and realized that we were fooled by a very enhanced photo. We knew we were not going to be comfortable enough to stay in this room, even if we did sleep a little there was no way I’d use the shower. We notified them we were leaving. They did offer us two other rooms that looked more like what we had seen on line. Still being upset by the deception we decided to move on. We did request a refund based on the deception even though their site says “no refund” we thought they might do the right thing knowing the room does not look like the photo they gave to Expedia but unfortunately they did not. I have no idea how they have achieved an “Excellent” rating.

House was beautiful, staff was very helpful, informative and kind. It was quite and peaceful. In my opinion it's overpriced.
- 4/5
The home is beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. We paid extra for a couples massage, which was amazing! We loved our stay. I wished the home had more parking. we had to park on a side street, which I didn't particularly love.
- 5/5
Great room, great location.
- 5/5
The owners were a delight! It was the perfect holiday location stay in Hendersonville. Historic, romantic, nostalgic. We will be back!
- 5/5
Everything - from check in to check out was excellent! Evening wine and breakfast was delicious!
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful. Breakfast was hot and delicious!
- 4/5
Great location, breakfast was good
- 5/5
Everything was clean and in order. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was great. The downtown shops were within easy walking distance. The whole experience was very good.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect at our stay at the Waverly B&B Inn. Especially liked our well kept room, very comfortable poster king sized bed, upgraded shower in the bathroom, free parking, very helpful staff and owners - all in all we could not have asked for a better experience!!!

Room was clean but very small. Breakfast was great and the host was excellent.
- 4/5
breakfast was excellent bathroom crowded
- 5/5
First time staying at a bed and breakfast, and it exceeded all my expectations! The staff is friendly and helpful and the Inn was charming! The weather was perfect and the social hour spilled out onto the spacious porch with all the guests chatting. A really enjoyable stay.
- 5/5
Breakfast was very good with several options on the menu to choose from. The food was fresh and hot when it came to out table. It's an old Inn with lots of charm, however, bathrooms aren't as spacious as you typically see in newer hotels or Inns but certainly still good.
- 5/5
You can't go wrong staying here. The staff are exceptional and the breakfast is amazing. Great Place, easy walk to downtown.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing, so welcoming and helpful. The breakfasts exceeded expectations, and the social hour each evening was an added bonus. The location was also great as it's walking distance to downtown. The steps at the back of the house (from the parking lot) were a little steep for my 78 yo mother, but we were able to park on the side of the house and use the front steps which were much better and there was only a few of them.
- 5/5
Staff and breakfast. Lack of Parking
- 5/5
Charming bed and breakfast close to downtown Hendersonville! Perfect for a weekend get-away!
- 5/5
No te
- 4/5
The stay was comfortable. Room was clean well decorated and functional for the space. Food was good and very convenient for Main Street shopping and dining
- 5/5
My adult daughter and I truly enjoyed our stay. Everyone was welcoming and informative. We felt right at home in all of the available social areas. The front porch is huge and everyone out there enjoyed happy hour. The happy hour was generous with drinks and snacks. Breakfast was well-organized and delicious. Our room accommodations were not huge but plenty for the two of us. We will return!
- 3.5/5
The location was perfect for us. We could walk to town and enjoy everything it had to offer. The place was clean and comfortable. Well, we don't usually stay at bed and breakfasts. The last time we stayed at a bed and breakfast, it was a totally different vibe.
- 5/5
Clean , friendly staff, comfortable beds amd excellent breakfast. A short walk down main street to shops and restaurants.
- 4.5/5
Our particular room could use some renovation. While quaint, the pedestal tub and shower is very narrow and tough to navigate while showering.
- 5/5
Amazing place and the staff was unbelievably helpful.
- 5/5
Excellent location, exceptional staff and hospitality. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was delicious. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Wonderful breakfast and owners
- 5/5
My wife and I enjoyed another great visit to Hendersonville and the Waverly Inn. The downtown location is fantastic to take advantage of the main street attractions. The breakfast is amazing. The front porch is the place to be for a relaxing evening. We look forward to our next visit.
- 5/5
Wonderful breakfast options!
- 5/5
We enjoyed sitting on the porch and upstairs balcony.
- 5/5
Beautiful and relaxing. Bedding was top notch. I usually have a hard time sleeping the first night I stay anywhere but did not have that problem this trip.
- 5/5
The host Mike was very pleasant and helpful. The place was charming and allowed for places to hang out during the evening. The breakfast was amazing!
- 5/5
Perfect B&B experience! The owners were kind and helpful! Beautiful home.
- 5/5
Wr just had a wonderful one-night stay the 1898 Waverly Inn and look forward to coming back. The inn was beautiful, our room couldn't have been more comfortable and the hospitality was amongst the best we've experienced anywhere! You also could not want a better location in downtown Hendersonville - quiet and away from the fray yet a quick walk to shops and restaurants. Can't recommend highly enough.
- 4/5
I gave it a good review because the staff was so nice and the place is clean and cute however our bedroom I think it was called Spring room, was not very functional. There was nowhere to sit but on the bed and on one hard old wooden chair. Couldn't get the TV to work said no signal, no matter what we did and there really wasn't many surfaces to put stuff on. The bed was okay but the pillows weren't comfortable so didn't have a very good sleep and at 6:00 something in the morning, a road crew was out front and it sounded like they were going to drive through the room so it wasn't a very relaxing experience. The breakfast was just okay even though I could tell they really put their heart into it. Very nice people. I personally wouldn't stay there again, but I think others would enjoy it...maybe in a better room.
- 5/5
The room was exceptionally clean -- no dust even in high places. Comfortable lodging. The closet was ridiculously small however. Breakfasts were very good. And every member of the staff we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese. Located very close to shops and restaurants downtown.
- 5/5
Rooms friendly staff.
- 5/5
A lovely historic inn, loved all the period features. Mike (the inn keeper) was so helpful. Great location. The beds were really comfortable. The breakfast staff were fabulous and we really enjoyed the social hour every evening.
- 5/5
Such a quaint inn. So historic and right on Main Street, walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. The staff was so friendly
- 5/5
Inn was very clean and was within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
The staff was amazing, the food was great, social hour was a plus. It was the first time my husband and I had ever been to a bed and breakfast. It was worth every penny! Will definitely do it again
- 5/5
Our stay at 1898 Waverly was lovely. The hosts are wonderful, the porch happy hour reception was wonderful and the breakfast was delicious. Our beds were very comfortable. Definitely keep in mind that this is an old boarding house with all the creaks and quirks of an old house. The decor was a bit outdated, but still charming and we had a very comfortable stay. It is within walking distance of plenty of shops and restaurants. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Nice rooms, happy hour included, made to order breakfast included, very friendly hosts.
- 5/5
They are lovely friendly people. Breakfast was delicious.... even have a menu where you can choose specific options... all top quality! The large home has a library full of books, puzzles, etc. to entertain. It is decorated with nostalgic furniture, art, and antiques. Plenty of parking. Close to multiple restaurants. I love the cool and shady front porch with rockers and porch swing. It's great for reading! Free drinks and appetizers at 5 pm were a great addition! My only complaint was the loud construction nearby until 1 a.m. The inn had no control over this, but it was extremely aggravating.
- 5/5
Perfect stay.
- 3/5
The property is charming and walking distance from downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful. The problem was that we were on a fairly busy street and traffic noise and sirens were a problem on a few nights. In addition, the blinds don’t close properly so morning light comes in. Fortunately, I brought an eye mask, so that helped. Finally, one has to step up/down about 8 inches to get into and out of the bathroom in our room (Birdfoot Violet). This could be a serious hazard to anyone with even minimal mobility issues. Be aware of cancellation policy. We booked four nights, but had to return home one day early due to a maintenance problem at home, so we lost that last night as they would not refund.
- 5/5
And then a breakfast you cannot beat, served with kindness and attention. I can’t remember being so well treated. Many thanks.
- 4/5
Exploring trip with friend. Great location & service. The reason for 1 star deduction was for 2 things…doors are noisy (expected in old house) & clawfoot tub wasn’t easy to shower in. Having said that, let me sing Heathers praises. From restaurant recommendations to tip on touring Bullington gardens she provided us with good stops. This was my second time staying here & I enjoy the front porch wine/snacks & the made to order breakfast included in room price. I would request a remodeled room next time! If you like B&B’s you won’t be disappointed.
- 3/5
Beautiful big historic home with lots of character. Proximity to downtown Hendersonville was a couple minute walk. The building itself seemed a little on the run down side and it's not due to just the age of the house. Lots of chipped paint, run down carpet and the handy man work done to this old home seem to be done on the cheap. I wouldn't not recommend it, but for the cost I expected better.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful property. The owners and all the staff are very personable and bend over backwards to make sure everything is is perfect. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Everyone was amazing. I felt like I was staying at a family members home. Breakfast was incredible!!! Fresh and delicious. I will be back.
- 5/5
An incredible experience! Great Staff! Made us feel like we were staying at "home!" My wife and I will return to this property! Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Amazing staff and owners. Wonderful breakfast. All around great place to stay.
- 5/5
Outstanding visit at Waverly… nice reception with drinks and great breakfast.. Nice walk to dining options downtown. Would repeat without question!!
- 5/5
Wonderful atmosphere in the old building but with modern amenities.
- 5/5
Will definitely come back again!
- 3/5
Great breakfast and "free" evening reception! Owners were great hosts.
- 5/5
Our stay at the Waverly Inn was lovely. Breakfast was delicious and there were several choices on the menu. The employees at the inn were so welcoming and helpful that we felt right at home. It could not have been a better experience.
- 3/5
Very noisy too much traffic
- 4/5
Great social hour; very friendly staff. Not the quietest location, but an easy walk to downtown Hendersonville.
- 5/5
Love the Waverly, so close to downtown, hosts are so accommodating, kind and warm, knowledgable about the area and have great recommendations.
- 5/5
Breakfast was great.
- 5/5
We enjoy staying at the Waverly. Tracy and Mike are perfect hosts. Staying with them is like staying with friends.
- 5/5
So nice to have owner innkeepers at the property. Just like it was back in the day. The location is perfect for exploring Hendersonville and surrounding area. Breakfast is amazing and happy hour is a nice transition before walking down the street to the restaurants. Definitely recommend.
- 5/5
A few tips for someone like me: *Make sure you explore the house! They have so many pictures and books to peruse through. It was all very interesting. *enjoy the rockers on the front porch. They are nice especially when it rains, and are great for meeting new people and having wonderful conversations during the social hour. *if your knees are an issue, they have stairs of course, but they also have raised bathrooms in the upstairs rooms that I saw. The step up for these is a bit steep. So just be aware or try to get a entry level room. *get the yogurt parfait at breakfast! It was delicious! The granola was especially good.
- 5/5
We couldn't have scripted a more pleasant stay! From the lovely breakfast to the evening social time, we enjoyed every bit. Tracy, who could not have been more friendly, and the other fun-loving guests that week really made it special. We especially like the location, which is easy walking distance to the downtown restaurant scene. We would definitely recommend the Waverly Inn to friends and family, and we plan to be back!
- 5/5
Host were very accomodating with their late check in policy due to a tire mishap we had on our travels.
- 5/5
Great way to mix the old antique with newer conveniences. Staff was grest and a fantastic breakfast. Room was small but fun antique quirks made up for it.
- 5/5
Friendly people. Staff was great. Breakfast and social hour were wonderful!
- 5/5
Very nice B & B. It does show the wear in places of being built in 1898. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The breakfast was delicicious. Only problem is 1898 Waverly Inn is located next to main road and the window and wall insulation did little to dampen the road noise which became an issue when sleeping.
- 5/5
This was our second stay at the Waverly and we will go back again if we go back to Hendersonville. This inn is run very well by the innkeepers. We enjoy visiting with other guests during the social hour on the front porch in the rocking chairs.
- 5/5
The B&B was very charming. And the staff and owners were very friendly, and accommodating. Also the B&B was very centrally located to downtown Hendersonville to walk to shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
The owner took time to talk with us about the history of this home and plans to continue to grow it’s welcoming atmosphere into the future. That is what makes it so much fun to stay at a lovely B&B…front porch conversations.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Nice historic feel with recently updated bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Will stay again.
- 5/5
Owners are always so friendly and welcoming. I feel like part of the family.
- 5/5
Amazing staff!
- 3/5
While we checked in at almost 9 pm (we did call ahead) the clerk said we had missed social hour but that “if we REALLY wanted our complimentary drinks he would get us some” he was obviously encouraging us to say no. We felt awkward & said it was fine. Bed was really uncomfortable and the light from the hallway made the room lit and not dark enough for sleeping. The grits were mushy, wet & overcoooked. One slice of bread = toast. For the cost of a luxury place it was more like a 2 1/2 star hotel. They aren’t interested in caring for their patrons, just taking their money without providing advertised goods/services.
- 5/5
The Inn was beautiful- very festive during the holiday and the social hour was just what we needed after a long drive. The only think we would have wished for was having the town stores open a little later - nothing was open after 6, but that doesn't have anything to do with the Inn.
- 5/5
The staff were wonderful, really enjoy what they do you can tell. Breakfast was made to order and hot. There's a happy hour with adult beverages and cheese plate. The house was decorated for Christmas beautifully. They're in the process of updating bathrooms. The room was very warm for winter. Our door swelled and was hard to open humidity.
- 5/5
Gorgeous place! Loved the holiday decorations and the warmth and friendliness of the owners. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Lovely property and friendly, helpful owners.
- 3/5
Location was perfect for wandering around downtown. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and museums nearby. I realize it is prime leaf season and prices are up, but price per value was not there. Have stayed in many B&Bs and found this to be an average stay with a very above average price.
- 5/5
Lovely place with friendly owners and staff. We enjoyed the social hour on the porch. Great value.
- 5/5
We ADORE Waverly! The owners, the staff, the rooms, the atmosphere and the house! Couldn’t ever ask for anything better!
- 5/5
Family owned and run. They and their staff care about their guests. Evening social hour on the front porch with drinks and food was a treat. Breakfast is excellent. Returned to H'ville for HHS class reunion.
- 4/5
Overall we liked our stay at Waverly Inn. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Location was good to walk to local stores and restaurants. Breakfast was also plentiful with good choice. Inside was a little disappointing as property looked very tired and needed refreshing. Also rooms lacked the historic charm and feel expected. However beds were great and had a good night sleep.
- 3/5
They did have a social hour from 5-6 p.m. where they offered two free drinks and meat, cheese and crackers. You could enjoy them on the front porch, 2nd floor porch or in one of the lounge rooms inside. You could visit with other guests or there was enough room to keep to yourself. The porches were nice, but the street in front was busy and there was a fair amount of traffic noise. Plus there was a fire station nearby and there seemed to be one or two fire calls with sirens each day. The location was close to downtown and made a number of restaurants and shops in walkable distance. Breakfast was good and made to order based on the order form you turned in the day before.
- 5/5
1. Walking distance to Main Street shops and restaurants 2. The social hour! Can’t get this at a hotel! 3. Owners were friendly and there to help with any questions 4. Delicious made to order breakfast We were very aware before be booked the stay that the house is on the Main Street so noise from the traffic was expected. We also realize it is an old house but it was still very comfortable well maintained. We love staying at bed and breakfasts for the personal interaction and the “at home” feeling.
- 5/5
This was our very first time in a B&B. We were so pleased!!! What a great place. The atmosphere was amazing. He location was perfect. Just a few block form downtown. They offered a simple happy hour with snacks. The breakfast in the tea room was so fresh with all local products, what a great touch!!!We are super impressed!!!
- 5/5
Wry nice place to stay
- 5/5
Charming Bed and Breakfast. Close to town. Wonderful stay. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Last minute relaxing getaway. What a beautiful house. We loved sitting on the front porch. Everyone was very nice. The breakfast was delicious.
- 5/5
The inn was in excellent condition, the location super convenient to downtown Hendersonville, and the innkeepers very parrsonable and helpful. A great experience.
- 5/5
The breakfast each day exceeded our expectations and was something to look forward to. Hors d'oeuvresand a beverage on the porch in the evening was a phenomenal social event and allowed the charm of the town and Inn to shine. I cannot recommend booking a room at this Inn enough.
- 5/5
Historic property. Breakfast was delicious. Staff extremely accommodating and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Very stately, well-preserved historic Inn. The staff members were all EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. The check-in was more thorough than with a regular hotel -- they took my breakfast order and asked what time I wanted to dine in the morning, they provided a parking pass (although there is free parking right outside), they provided a map of Main St. with all the restaurants and shops, gave wifi and other instructions. Drinks are on the front porch in the early evening. The breakfast was a highlight; everything I ordered was delightful. Two areas of improvement would be - quieter window AC and firmer/newer mattress.
- 5/5
Well maintained, Very clean, Will highly recommended.
- 5/5
If your looking for amazing place in Hendersonville look no further. What unbelievable experience
- 5/5
Third stay here. We really like it.
- 5/5
Historic home within walking distance of downtown
- 4/5
We had a relaxed one night stay and foremost are the innkeepers. So welcoming. Our room was most acceptable though we couldn't get the AC cool enough. The breakfast was great as was the welcoming Happy Hour of wine/beer and cheese and crackers. It's was an easy walk downtown.
- 5/5
We had a great time, highly recommended.
- 5/5
I had a great stay, in a king sized room. Happy hour included nice wine and a cheese plate on the rocker-porch, in the cool of the evening- just what I needed to revive after a long drive. Be sure to get a massage from Linda - she is terrific! Breakfast was a dream. If I had three thumbs, they would all be up!
- 5/5
Staff is incredible and very friendly. Breakfast was fantastic!
- 5/5
Beautiful and exceptionally clean bed and breakfast that is within waking distance to shopping and restaurants.
- 5/5
It was a last minute booking for us, and they were still super welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. My girls LOVED the clawfoot tub.
- 3/5
The property was clean and comfortable. However it is located on a main road. That the property was on a busy road was not clear on the website. It was not the quiet and quaint experience we had hoped for, but it was ok.
- 5/5
The house has so much character. Felt very welcomed and like I was at home.
- 5/5
First time staying at a bed and breakfast and really enjoyed it.
- 5/5
The owners and staff are gracious and attend to your needs. Beautiful inn and close to downtown shopping and dining.
- 4/5
We would definitely love to visit again.
- 4/5
Enjoyed the attentive staff, the pleasant happy hour, and the breakfast choices. (Only wish the temperature in the bathroom had not been so frigid!)
- 5/5
A lovely B&B with excellent service from the owners. Breakfast is fantastic!
- 5/5
We have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before and we LOVED it! It was quaint and cozy. Great proximity to downtown. The social hour and breakfast were delicious! Everything was perfect
- 5/5
What an awesome place! Such a great time!
- 5/5
Nice homey feeling, no rush .
- 4/5
Need a larger amount of parking. Also the bathroom was quite small, I had to sit side saddle on the toilet because my legs would otherwise be jammed up on the sink. Other than that it was great.
- 4/5
Beautiful old building that has been kept up nicely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed in Ox Eye Daisy room was very cozy and I slept very well. The location right in downtown is very convenient if you plan to walk around downtown & visit the many cute shops and restaurants. There is free off-street parking at the B&B, so that is helpful. Convenience store on the corner as well. Be aware that there is a high school with a football stadium just across the way so school traffic is a thing. Traffic noise is a bit much, but using the AC fan helps a lot. I felt that the room was nicely furnished & supplied. One problem was that you can't open the shower door all the way & it is partially blocked by the commode. The rocking chair porches on two levels are very nice. I was on the third floor & there was also a nice sitting room inside. There is no elevator, so if stairs are a problem for you, ask for a first floor room. Otherwise, it was overall very nice.
- 5/5
The parking left a lot to be desired. Other than that it was a nice stay.
