Reviews
The Charleston Inn is a historic B&B located in downtown Hendersonville, with a charming ambiance and friendly staff. Guests frequently praise the location, breakfast, and comfortable beds, but some have noted issues with noise and outdated facilities.
- Historic charm and ambiance
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Noise from radiators, traffic, and other guests
- Outdated facilities and decor
- 5/5
Friendly staff and guests all around. If squirrels are your thing, the super friendly squirrels will gladly take some of the provided peanuts for hand feeding.
- 5/5
The owners are so helpful and kind. The property is beautiful and the location could not be more perfect. It’s a short walk to restaurants and live music. A great place to stay!
- 5/5
Beautiful classic 1880's house B&B. Loved it!
- 4/5
Staff were polite and informative, location is in a historic area. The time we completed our visit it appeared the business was well booked but understaffed. The evening entertainment was nicely presented.
- 5/5
Charming! We were there several days and it was full house and nice wine and music in the dining room in the evening and then everyone left on Monday and we had the whole place to ourselves with only one other guest making it for a quiet peaceful evening! It’s an old building in need of repairs but overall it was a great stay! Staff was very friendly and helpful but weren’t on site all the time.
- 5/5
This was one of those places that immediately makes you feel at home. The setting was peaceful, the accommodations were comfortable, and everything was thoughtfully maintained. I truly enjoyed my stay and appreciated the warm hospitality. If you’re looking for a relaxing place to disconnect and recharge, I highly recommend it.
- 5/5
The Charleston Inn proved to be an excellent place to stay during my time in Hendersonville. The breakfasts and overall service were consistently impressive, and the location—just a short two‑block walk from the downtown area filled with shops and restaurants—made exploring especially convenient. Even with the Garden Jubilee taking place and the weekend being rainy, it was still an enjoyable visit, made better by having such a comfortable and well‑situated place to stay.
- 5/5
Loved everything about this place. I am a sucker for historic homes and this one is fantastic. Our room was very comfortable. The staff was beyond accommodating and so pleasant. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
This is a wonderful (c.1880) National Historic Register property with fine rooms, exceptional staff, great atmosphere, nice breakfast and fun afternoon social hour. Location perfect for walking Hendersonville.
- 5/5
Front beds could use a spring clean out, but it was fun hanging out with the squirrels and feeding them as they are welcomed guests. Hendersonville was very pretty with extensive options for dinner. We chose icecream!
- 5/5
Clean room and comfortable bed, great location, walkable to downtown. We arrived late, the staff initiated self check-in instructions. Felt like they really cared that we choose to stay in their Inn.
- 4/5
Yes, shops and restaurants are nearby. However, the property is a little noisy due to the older structure. The staff are great and make up for any issues.
- 5/5
The property was perfect, nice and quiet, the staff very attentive and friendly, fun Saturday night music on the deck with free snacks and drinks. Maria, the property manager, was the best and loved the whole atmosphere at this old charm delightful property
- 5/5
Lovely B&B in a great location downtown. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and a great breakfast. We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Check-in and out was very easy. The social hour on Friday and Saturday nights with live music was a treat. The other guests were respectful and social. The space is well maintained for a house of that age - the creaky floors and aged surfaces are part of the charm! We would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Like a perfect cross between a nice hotel and your grandma's house. Very cozy, and everyone is super nice. The breakfast is WAY beyond your standard free breakfast, and there are tons of nice touches like snacks and cold drinks available in the dining room 24/7. It's an easy walk to great restaurants and breweries on the main-street strip.
- 5/5
This was one of the best B&Bs we have stayed at located walking distance to downtown shops. We had a delicious breakfast made to order. The manger was welcoming and eager, genetic to help find restaurants and things today. Looking forward to planning our next trip to Hendersonville area to stay in this B&B.
- 5/5
I'm glad we chose this property. The staff was amazing. Extremely polite made sure we had everything we needed. The cleanest place we've ever stayed. Cooked to order breakfast every morning and a social every evening with snacks and beverages. We will definitely book again!!!
- 5/5
Wonderful B&B! Better than expected and beautiful!
- 5/5
Rooms are clean, and bed was comfortable. House is nicely decorated. Staff was extremely attentive, especially Ms. Stephanie.
- 5/5
I loved the quiet elegance of The Charleston Inn. The host was helpful and informative. Great stay!
- 5/5
Easy to explore the area. Short walk to downtown, short drive to all others. About 30 minutes to Asheville
- 5/5
We loved our quick stay. We were in walking distance of the Historic Downtown Hendersonville.
- 4/5
Pleasantly surprised that a full cook-to-order breakfast was included in the cost of the room. (Was not mentioned on the website that I found). Walkability to downtown was a huge plus! Enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
Great location and amenities
- 2/5
Let early morning so we could get on a warm truck.
- 3/5
Shops nearby
- 3/5
Inn looks great from the outside, but the rooms (at least our room, #1) is badly in need of a refresh! Paint is chipped in many places, bathroom is particularly small and inconvenient, people above us left early one day and woke us about 6 AM. Nice that they provided breakfast, but it was only mediocre.
- 3/5
Happy hour in the afternoons is great, very impressed with the options! Breakfast service is extremely slow!!!!! We waited over 20 minutes to order and there were only 3 other couples in the restaurant that had all ready ordered, then waited another 25 minutes to get lukewarm, fair food. Noticed the other couples had to wait 20 - 30 minutes for their orders also.
- 5/5
I would stay again without a doubt! Perfect location, friendly staff and comfortable facilities!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the Charleston Inn in Hendersonville. This historic property was charming. The staff was super friendly
- 5/5
Loved this inn. It was such a pleasure to enjoy the space. The staff were incredible, friendly and made us feel at home.
- 5/5
Good and I would stay there again.
- 5/5
The Inn is in an ideal location. It is charming. The rooms were comfortable. We were there mid-week but can imagine friendly conversations while rocking on the porch when the inn is full.
- 5/5
A wonderful experience! Alicia was lovely and so accommodating. Great location, close to shopping and restaurants. Enjoyed our time here. We will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Easy access to uptown
- 5/5
Its character is charming and super comfortable. The common areas are inviting. Love the rocking chairs on the porch. Easy walk into town which has plenty of shopping and dining choices!
- 5/5
Absolutely love this Inn! Second time staying here and did not disappoint. The Inn is everything I thouht it would be after wanting to stay here for years and finally had the chance. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are amazing!
- 5/5
We fully enjoyed our stay at The Charleston. The 4 to 6 social is nice as well as the complimentary sodas. Breakfast was delicious. Owners were nice & polite along with the whole staff. My only issue was the bed was to hard for my liking but, my wife liked it. Only suggestion would be to add a curtain or shade to the window above the door as a lot of light comes through at night.
- 5/5
We’ve stayed before as well and everything is always great.
- 5/5
The Charleston Inn I’m Hendersonville NC is a gem! Our Host Alicia made our stay even more delightful. She upgraded our room to a king with no charge, what a gift! The Inn is conveniently located to all the shops and restaurants 5 minute walk, The house is old warm charm, all your needs are met, The bed was extremely comfortable room was very clean, A nice happy hour from 5-6 with beer, wine, seltzer and snacks perfect for a day of shopping, or exploring the area. Highly recommend this Inn, will definitely return!
- 5/5
Beautiful place and very kind reception! Great communication! Would stay again!
- 5/5
Beautiful Inn, very nice staff, helpful and didnt laugh when i called and asked about the sheets they used. Those were amazing!!!!! I jave wanted to stay there for many years and it was everything i thought it would be. Clean room, hot shower, plenty of towels. I will be staying again
- 5/5
Love staying here. Like the comfort feel and the great location.
- 5/5
Very gracious host. Big storm came while we were there, floodi g all roads out of Hendersonville. We had to stay extra night with no power or restaurants near by. Host cleared the refrigerator out and we ate when she had. Water and snacks were provided also.
- 5/5
Very nice property, convenient to restaurants and shopping. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Gift certificates to a local very good breakfast restaurant was a nice replacement for them not serving breakfast. Coffee, tea, water and soda always available. Social hour on Friday and Saturday was a nice surprise.
- 4/5
Overall very good, would stay again. 1st night we had 2nd floor room at front of house and the road traffic was noisy all night. 2nd night had 3rd floor room at back of house and very little noise. 2nd night there was no hot water (just bad timing) but management was prompt to fix by noon that day. Friday night happy hour was great with live entertainment!
- 4/5
Enjoyed our stay. Would never stay on the 3rd floor again. We are 75 and 85 with arthritis. No elevator and no help with bags. Brutal. Different accommodations would be better. Also have never heard of a bed snd breakfast with no breakfast or even coffee included.
- 4/5
Lovely property- cozy and comfortable. We’ve stayed here before and were disappointed that breakfast is no longer available. We received $10 vouchers to a delightful, walkable brunch spot, but $20 would have been more realistic. Also, Happy Hour is nice but a one- glass limit on wine is disappointing.
- 5/5
Quaint, homey inn with wonderful staff, excellent location and a reasonable price
- 5/5
We stayed overnight in route to Georgia. It was a cool place. We enjoyed it.
- 5/5
Loved the Charleston Inn. The front porch is amazing and the beds were super comfy. I will definitely be staying here again!
- 5/5
I absolutely love The Charleston Inn! There is a peanut jar to feed the Inn Squirrels. I had the best sleep. Everything is within walking distance. It was just perfect! Alicia and the Innkeeper are so kind (Patricia.)
- 5/5
I really liked the Charleston Inn. The service was great. The coffee service was open 24/7. The room was nice. The security was really good. Everyone was super friendly. Quite the nice little 1880's place.
- 5/5
Beautiful Inn. We had a nice stay, felt like home!
- 5/5
A very lovely establishment! So comfortable! Charming decor and very tastefully done. Best sleep
- 5/5
The staff was very accommodating! Beautiful location!
- 2/5
Overall, the place is in good condition considering it is 150 years old. We stayed in early March. The heating system is steam, with radiators throughout. If you have ever experienced noisy steam pipes, you'll know what I am talking about. These were the loudest, most random pipes I have ever heard. It would go on for almost 10 minutes, about 3 times during the night. The other noise problem was the street. The windows are 150 years old, as well. No insulation from the moderate to loud vehicles. We have stayed at The Wavery next door, at least 3 times without these experiences. Needless to say, it was a rough night. We love old homes. This adventure was just a little rough.
- 5/5
Excellent experience. This trip was last minute and I was able to secure a room. I was concerned about late check in after a horrible experience at another hotel, but the lady I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and kind and was able to accommodate us for when we arrived. The inn is in excellent condition to be roughly 140 years old and was very comfortable. You get a good bit of your money back just in food vouchers and it's all in walking distance so it was an all around great experience. We plan on returning in the summer at some time.
- 5/5
Nice quiet place. Lots of history in this house.
- 5/5
Very friendly! Very clean!
- 5/5
How festive it was decorated for Christmas. Made us feel like we were in a hallmark movie
- 5/5
I didn’t like our mattress bolstering and linens, easily remedied but the pillow top was split, dividing a queen bed.
- 5/5
Great property! Great owners!
- 5/5
I stayed for three nights during Thanksgiving 2023. The house was charming and the Inn Keepers were amazing. Very friendly and tried to make sure you had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. My only complaint would be the noisy radiators and the light shining into the rooms. I remedied this with an eye mask and ear plugs. The bed was super comfortable.
- 4/5
Everyone was very nice. We were there for two nights. The good parts were the breakfasts and the 4-6 wine and beer and hors deuerves along with a very good guitarist/singer. The not so good part was we were in a front room right on Main St. in a double bed. It was very noisy a lot of the night as the hospital, police and fire stations are in very near proximity. 😕
- 5/5
The Charleston Inn is a wonderful historic B&B in downtown Hendersonville. The owners, Tommy & Kathy Crowder were welcoming and friendly. The location couldn't be better for exploring all the shops and restaurants on Main Street. The room was spacious and comfortable with a king bed and attached bathroom. Breakfast each day was delicious. I will book again on any future trip to Hendersonville.
- 5/5
This was our second time to stay here. Always very nice and easy walking to a beautiful downtown area.
- 5/5
Wonderful hosts and a beautiful house within walking distance to town. Highly recommend staying here!
- 5/5
Great family atmosphere!
- 5/5
Hosts were great! Delightful place to stay!
- 5/5
Inn was super clean and just steps away from Downton Hendersonville.
- 3/5
Proprietors were terrific. Breakfasts were excellent. The charm of antiques was nice. Very nice towels and really good water pressure in shower. But, practical inconveniences were a bit much. No heat in bathroom. Very cheap shower unit. Inadequate dresser space. Very small bedroom. If you loved great grandma's house, you will love this place. Otherwise....
- 5/5
Very nice place in a good location. The staff was friendly and really tried to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Breakfast was yummy!
- 5/5
Love the family that runs this B&B!!
- 5/5
Wonderful getaway! The inn is beautiful and the owners were friendly and serve well!
- 5/5
Great location and wonderful owners
- 5/5
This is the second time I have stayed here and it is so lovely. Very clean and very nice staff. I highly recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Very nice, walking to town businesses and Resturant’s was easy. Seating spaces where very nice, inside and out and clean . Always nice guests at B&B properties.
- 5/5
The Inn was beautiful and the hosts were outstanding. We loved the close proximity for walking into town for restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
It’s a charming property that is well-taken-care-of and maintained. The owners are attentive and caring. The Charleston Inn is also located near Main Street, with many stores and restaurants.
- 5/5
Staff went out of their way to make us welcomed and comfortable. Food was delicious. Easy access to downtown. Will book this accommodation again.
- 5/5
This was the sweetest place to stay. Close to downtown (walking distance), comfortable, clean and the owners are so hospitable! The breakfast was also very good! I wish we could have stayed longer.
- 5/5
This is a very nice B&B. Breakfasts were delicious and the staff was very kind. Our room was exceptionally spacious (more like a suite), although I don't know if all rooms are that big.
- 5/5
Wonderful!
- 5/5
Amazing spot in Hendersonville. The owners couldn't have been nicer. While they have a no kids policy, they graciously waived this policy for us as we were dropping our daughter off at a nearby Summer camp. Awesome stay and will stay there again without hesitation.
- 5/5
We can't say enough about how exceptional The Charleston Inn is. The owners and their staff are very friendly, personable, and professional, and make you feel very welcome and comfortable. Food is excellent. The inn is beautiful and furnished perfectly. Our suite was very comfortable and inviting. Everything about our stay there was perfect.
- 5/5
Our stay here was excellent. Tommy and Kathy are amazing hosts and we will definitely stay at the Inn again when in the area.
- 5/5
Kathy and Don were great hostesses and hosts.
- 5/5
The breakfast was spectacular! The pillows had to be the softest ever and were great!
- 5/5
Very charming B&B with friendly staff. Will be happy to stay there again.
- 5/5
Love this place! Owners are generous and flexible and made my stay amazing!
- 4/5
Delicious breakfast. Wonderful staff.
- 4/5
We really enjoy the Charleston Inn. The friendly staff, great breakfast and comfortable accommodations are why we return… oh, and the terrific proximity to downtown is very special.
- 5/5
The staff here is tremendous! They were extremely courteous, and professional. Every encounter with the staff was pleasant. If there was a drawback, it would be the road noise since the Inn is on a busy street, no fault of their own. It has been there since the 1800's, so they can't control this. We would definitely stay again. Breakfast was varied each day, for a well rounded out menu! Thanks again to all who made my wife's birthday a memorable experience! Well done!
- 5/5
Location within easy walking distance to downtown was a big plus. Owners are very friendly.
- 5/5
would stay again, Great breakfast .nice social hour
- 4/5
Walkable
- 5/5
The owners were awesome and friendly.. everything was clean and comfortable. The room was bigger than it looks in the pictures and the bed was very comfortable. We would totally stay there again..
- 5/5
Very nice B & B. Friendly staff and the home has been kept up very well. We enjoyed the complimentary “happy hour” last night and haven’t been to breakfast yet.
- 5/5
The hosts are great. The room was clean, quiet, well-appointed and comfortable. The house is quite inviting with fun decor and comfortable lounge/parlour areas plus a great front porch with rockers. Delicious breakfast. Easy walking to downtown.
- 5/5
The place is absolutely beautiful. The owners are very lovely people. They are helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and something different everydday. The location is perfect for walking downtown to the restaurants and shops. The only downside, and no ones fault, is that it is on a busy road. So at night there is a fair amount of noise. But we still really enjoyed our stay😊
- 5/5
First time staying at Inn. Staff very friendly and only 2 blocks to walk to downtown.
- 5/5
Owners. Walk to town. Good shopping and restaurants
- 5/5
The owners were not there but the couple filling in were great...if they hadn't told us they weren't the owners we would have never known. They were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We look forward to visiting again!
- 5/5
Based on the Ventage of house it is difficult to keep things perfect and still hold the charm of 1800's Ventage home. So all scores should be Excellent do to age of B&B. Terry & Karen
- 5/5
Perfect location to walk to town. Delicious breakfast with a very nice social hour in the evening. All the workers and guests were very pleasant to talk to.
- 5/5
Second stay at The Charleston Inn and it was even better than the first. Beautiful accommodations, friendly owners, fabulous breakfast and the location is perfect. Recommended highly for a nice getaway - we'll be back!
- 5/5
This is a special b&b family offering hospitality unlike the chains. It is going back in time but with old world charm. Home made breakfast and happy hour is a bonus. We welcomed this change and the fall and Halloween decorations.
- 5/5
The bed was sooo comfortable. The evening cocktail hour was fun as we met the other occupants. Breakfast was freshly made and superb! And an added bonus was a free tasting at a winery!
- 5/5
Fantastic bed and breakfast with the friendliest staff. Location was in perfect proximity to everything we wanted to visit. My wife and I enjoyed every breakfast that was served and we cant wait to go back!
- 5/5
Very friendly staff/owners, short walk to the downtown restaurants and bars. Great breakfasts and nice happy hour. Fast hot water!
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food and drinks were great. I loved sitting on the big front porch and relaxing while the squirrels ran around. The inn is a short walk from restaurants and shopping. It was a much needed relaxing weekend.
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay.
- 5/5
The renovations and decor reflected the early 1900s. It was a very beautiful renovation from top to bottom inside and out. The location to downtown Hendersonville with all their shops and restaurants was only a block and a half away. We never got back in our car until we actually left to come home. We were able to walk to every destination we chose. There was absolutely nothing that I did it like about this property or our stay. Happy
- 5/5
This was my first time staying at a B&B, so I wasn't sure what to expect, and the Charleston Inn did not disappoint. The staff was amazing and the property was gorgeous
- 4/5
Met some very friendly fellow travelers.
- 5/5
This was our 2nd time staying here. It is such a pleasure and relaxing experience each time. No better location in town for walking and enjoying Hendersonville. The host couple are absolutely awesome. The breakfast is fresh cooked and served with love. We highly recommend!
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable!
- 5/5
The owners were very friendly and welcoming.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at The Charleston Inn. Jeff & Jody made our visit particularly great. They were so cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We really enjoyed the rocking chair front porch, accessibility to downtown, and the wonderful breakfasts and social hours. We will be back!
- 4/5
The owners are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The room I was in (#10) was nicely furnished. The shower was a bit small and the water pressure and temperature regulation was problematic and there was no bathtub. Breakfast is provided on the lovely outside dining area (or inside if weather isn't cooperative!). There is lovely wraparound porch with rocking chairs to relax when you aren't exploring the area.
- 5/5
Charming inn, friendly staff, easy walk to a good restaurant, and a good breakfast make this place an excellent choice for staying in Hendersonville. It’s close to Asheville but without Asheville pricing. We’ll gladly stay here again next time we’re in the area.
- 5/5
Loved the room. The people there were really nice and we enjoyed the community atmosphere and the breeze on the front porch watching the squirrels. Walking distance to food and shopping, great location. Breakfast was delicious. Only complaint was they did not offer any dairy free breakfast options so my husband had to leave to eat. We did not let them know ahead of time, we did mention when we checked in and hoped they could maybe scramble an egg with toast or something, and the woman who checked us in said she would check on it, but then at breakfast no one offered any alternative when I mentioned it again. I will just make sure I contact them ahead of time next time to make sure they can have something for him to eat. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Beautiful bed and breakfast in an historic old home. Location was perfect and host, Kathy and Tommy, were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
My only criticism was that I was charged an extra 3.5% for payment by credit card. This was not disclosed at the time of booking.
- 5/5
Loved, loved, loved this place!! Could not have had a better stay anywhere else
- 5/5
Warm friendly charm, to go with beautiful old house, including rocking chairs on the front porch, and peanuts to share with the pet squirrels ❤️
