The location is fine, we still drove to beaches since realistically if you spend a lengthy amount of time at the beach I wouldn’t say the ‘walking distance’ is going to feel ideal on the way back. But there’s many places around to eat and shop. We mostly just booked this place in a short amount of time so options were so limited within my budget. I appreciate that the parking was free. We were on the first floor so I’m not sure about other reviews being able to hear waves crashing? 😂 only thing I heard was a lot of road noise. Apparently from 3rd floor you have a slight view of water. We had double beds, not queens so unless you’re sleeping by yourself you and your bedmate will be extra close. Our bed was terrible, it was literally still wrapped in plastic, I told front desk and he gave me permission to remove it. The bed or box frame was so noisy. The shower in bathroom was okay, a/c worked well. Satellite didn’t work so like 3 channels worked. Would I stay here again? No.

They’re always available 24 hours a day. If you need new towels they’re there you need something repaired. They’re there. They have coffee and atm machine. They have a relaxing lobby with the couch can sit and listen to their waves crashing at the beach Rooms are so clean and writing, relaxing Cable TV made service they even have areas we can smoke at. They have a balcony where you can sit and relax watching the beautiful sunset I absolutely love this place. I go here every single time. I’ve been here for 66 years going on seven and I will always be a patron at the 777 motor and Prices are wonderful, especially in the summertime hotel near the beach. I stay here frequently. Its in my home town. Its not fancy and its been here for decades but the staff is super nice, the prices are decent. Very Walkable to the beach and restaurants. I will continue staying here whenever Im visiting.

The staff was excellent and room was well taken care of and clean. Cool patio upstairs to enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. Nice location by the beach and walking distance to all the hot spots. Bolsa Chica beach is nearby. Will definitely come back and stay again.

Free parking was a plus. Bulletproof glass at check in counter and the note with the no emergency phone number for the police were a bit disturbing. Had to fill out many paper forms and give $50 cash deposit which was returned after check out and only after the clerk inspected the room for damages. This tells me a lot about the clientele that usually frequents this place. Location was great….within walking distance to beach, Starbucks, the harbor and a few restaurants. The front staff took about 20 minutes to find my reservation. There was also a $50 cash deposit required that was not mentioned on hotels.com.The room pictured was definitely not what we got, pictures should be up to date and give guests an idea of what to expect. Room was smaller than anticipated-which was OK because we just needed a place to slee. The bathroom light switche was broken, the floors did not look like they are cleaned after each stay, the shower faucet was half broken, and the room had an odd smell to it. Won't be staying here again

For the price, you cannot beat this place. Short walk to sunset beach and right next door to an awesome surf shop. Really liked the room. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy parking right in front of the building. I plan on returning.

Unexpected cash $50 security deposit (you do get it back upon check out), the room felt dirty, hair on the towels and the floor had not been cleaned in a minute. The shower the water pressure was so low it came out in a trickle, to the point where I didn’t use the shower and washed in the sink instead. I’ve stayed in motel 6 and super 8 s before so I didn’t have high expectations but it would’ve been well worth it to pay an extra $50 to stay in a better place

The mattresses were hard on the back, the toilet moved when you sat down and got up. Was not secured or something. No phones in the rooms no guide for the extra small tv. Actually the beach was a long walk even to get to the waters edge. You can not see the beach at all. But we weren’t there for the room.

The staff was wonderful. It felt like everyone there cared. They were polite. The space was quiet. The air conditioning worked great. Everything was clean. Simple. Exactly what I needed.

We had an excellent stay here and felt comfortable being here and sleeping here. Everything was and FELT clean and the staff was kind and helpful. It’s a motel so the room had only the bare necessities (ie. mini fridge, small table) but it was perfect for what we needed. It’s a short 5 minute walk to the beach which we found convenient and we’ll definitely be coming back!

The bed was not made when we checked in. There was weeks worth of trash and crumbs left under the bed… looks like they had never cleaned under there.

It was cute, but molding was molded in the bathroom. Toiletries were very inconsistent and cheap floors were dirty. Customer service was wonderful though back property dirty . mop out there brooms and uneven walkways.

The room was absolutely awful. Spiders, smelled of cigarettes, insanely disgusting bathroom, the only reason we didn’t leave is we were literally so sleep deprived by the time we arrived we couldn’t bother moving the truck again. I’d never stay here again, and I’m used to cheap motels.

The room didnt look like the pics on the app. It was really run down I dont know how they have a high rating. The blanket had satins so i didn't even use it,bathroom was gross didnt even want to walk around bare foot. Its a tweeker motel and had hookers hanging around.

I highly recommend it and they have free coffee in the morning as well.

did not like it at all overall. In fact, we canceled after one night & went elsewhere . Bars on the windows, spikes on the wall behind so people couldn’t climb over the wall onto hotel property. Fire detectors held onto the inside wall by a metal strip which renders it useless & highly illegal (husband is retired from a Big City Fire Department). No lock on the inside door except a twist lock (no chain, no deadbolt, nothing) no phone to the office area in case of an emergency. No coffee pot or any amenities in the room….. (no soap, no shampoo, thread bare towels) no daily cleanup or service. Did not feel safe at all. Very transient

Hard to Check In with the senile Receptionist, even with a reservation disrespectful. Rooms are low-mid has amenities tho but thin walls can hear your neighbors i mean everything lol and thin doors had to double secure can hear outside n air thru the door noticed some safety hazards as well. I grew up across the street from this motel and stay here often when I come back to visit. I always have a enjoyable stay. This is not a new motel but they have been making steady improvements over the years.

It was a nice experience. My girlfriend and I just wanted to get away for the weekend and needed a hotel that was both nice and economical. This place hit it right on the nail.

We didn’t actually sleep in the room. We used it as our shower option because the place we were staying at had no hot water. The property felt cheap and poorly maintained (just painted over delayed maintenance issues. The motel required a cash deposit and an inspection after check out to refund the cash deposit. We are thankful for a working shower, but not a place we would stay at by choice.

Not worth the price

They needed a $50 cash deposit for “damage”. They requested it in the middle of signing for the room, with a conveniently staged ATM that charged $3 for the transaction…Shady. Checked the room for damage while I was waiting to check out. Noisy place also. Old and run down. Don’t ever stay there!

Location is great! Very near Seal Beach where I like to hang out. It's on PCH, so traffic noise can be bothersome, but you can block it out by closing all the windows and keeping the fan running. Strange stuff: It's like they anticipate people will be damaging the rooms, because they have you sign a very specific contract about ruining comforters, smoking in the room (not allowed), or damaging furniture. I certainly didn't intend to do any of those things, but felt like I would be charged if they thought I had damaged something. You must come to the front desk within 15 minutes of entering the room to make them aware of anything that looks damaged. Problem is, there is DIY patchwork and painting, the mini fridge in my room had weird scratches all over the top of it, the furniture was old and rough, and there was smoke in the air because one of my neighbors was outside smoking in the hallway. Last, there was a black line that ran vertically through the screen on the television (a crack?). I reported all these things, because I'd been made very nervous that they might charge me for any one of them. There are different fees for different offenses. The older owners seemed more flexible, the middle-aged man who checked me in seemed a bit uptight. The bedding seemed clean, but the amenities and linens were cheap. This is closer to a Motel 6 experience (a little worse than some), not a Hilton/Hampton Inn experience. If you're on a budget and need a decent bed and shower, it's okay.

The clerk wanted to write all of my credit card information down on paper for my deposit, which I thought was very suspicious so I did not stay here and now I also cannot get a refund

We liked the location and the price. When we walked in the room, we saw an outdated room, paint peeling at spots, moldy shower grout, and as we shut door we saw a hole in door where there was no peep hole piece and people could look right in the room. My husband pulled sheets back to some old looking stains that seemed washed, but still present. The smoke detector was being held up with a metal strap which partially covered the detector, dangerous. Old bathroom sink had old stains very outdated.

We enjoyed our 2 nite stay. The only noise was from PCH, its busy and loud traffic. We picked it because of the ability to walk to the beach, some good food options and a grocery store as well. Surfside is a pretty low key beach community and we’d probably stay there again..

The lady at the front desk was so nice and very helpful. Its close to the beach and we walked to a restaurant nearby. We enjoyed our stay. I would stay there again.

Great place and will definitely go back

This place made our California vacation wonderful. We simply wanted a clean place to sleep and easy access to the beach. There were a couple dings on the walls from use over time, but we didn’t mind. The check in and checkout process was easy as well. One thing I would note about this motel is the walls are thin, other than that, our stay was amazing.

Smell very bad ! Not clean ! I didn’t like at all

There was no drinking waterbin the entire place!! The clerk at the front desk suggested drinkin tap water, saying, California water was safe to drink. They didnt even have a water kettle for boiling hot water.

These are by far the rudest staff members of any hotel place. I’ve stayed in Huntington Beach area and I have been to dozens of spots in Huntington. The male staff - I believe Ernie and Sam, go out of their way to be exceptionally rude. They also have signs posted that go against California standards when it comes to service animals. What I find posted that if you have a service animal, they will refuse service to you and will cancel your stay or will charge you an additional $200 even if the room is in the same condition as when you checked in. They never cleaned our room. We were there for almost a week. They never gave us fresh towels. They never gave us extra toilet paper. There’s barely any soap in the room. They will not provide you with hot water maker in the room. You cannot make even coffee. Call automatically charge you an additional $50 deposit. They will have you sign a form that says you cannot cook any food in the room, additional with a bunch of other things that you will be signing such as paying extra for the assortment of miscellaneous things, that people regularly do in hotel rooms. The bathroom water, floods the floor they won’t even give you a floor towel for the bathroom. The room is not clean. There is filth left if you even look under a table or bed. It’s obvious that there is mold. We have pictures of it in the drawers of the broken furniture that was in the room. They’ve just painted over the mold. Good luck getting an extra towel. Yikes!! You would think was such a great location. They would update these rooms! Literally skidrow dive status! We live local we’re from the area and we got this room for a friend who sent pictures of the interior condition. Wow.

The bed was okay. TV cords were draped across the wall. Lighting was glaring. Floor was patched with duct tape.

The 777 is a small quaint beach hotel. The location is incredible! You have the harbor on one side and the beach on the other. The best part of the hotel is the front desk staff. Genuinely kind people. You’re in the heart of all the great restaurants, bars and local grocery. The rates are reasonable and whether you’re in town for an overnight business trip or an extended stay vacation you will be welcomed! My personal suggestion is to request a room facing the harbor on the third floor with a smart TV. The ocean breeze in your room is so refreshing!

Quiet and felt safe

This is an amazing ocean view motel! We have stayed at this property twice and this past March 8th long weekend was to celebrate my birthday with my family. The room is spacious and clean and the beds are comfortable. The location is great, safe and nice people stay there. Large patio on the 2nd floor with tables and chairs so you can watch the sunset while enjoying delicious food and drinks. The receptionist Lisa was extremely friendly and professional and the staff are excellent at your service. This motel will definitely be our go-to place for Huntington Beach. You will not get a better deal for this property and I will recommend this place.

Mr.Peter never answered phone prior to my arrival.I called approx 5 or 6 times..I am a business commercial transport driver...I was very tired upon arrival..I drove from Wisconsin to Long beach, CA. I stayed because I was exhausted, however I was miserable.
