Oceanview Motel - Huntington Beach

Way over priced, When I booked my stay I was under the impression that there was a bar/lounge, an exercise room and easy access to the beach, as advertised here on Expedia. That definitely was not the case, there was none of what was advertised!

It was nice and simple

Ice machine was broken which is inconvenient, but not the worst. The worst part was the woman working the desk. Maybe the owner? So unfriendly and unhelpful.

Location The bed was hard, no iron or ironing board in room and the shampoo bottle had already been used.

The fridge didn't work neither did the ice machine. The lady in the office was rude. Not very people friendly

We live in the area and was evacuated because of a toxic chemical situation in our area. Called to try to see if we could check in just a little bit it earlier than 4pm and they said no! 50,000 people evacuated so it was very stressful!

The property need improvement smell so bad television was not working management was terrible wouldn’t recommend this motel to anyone

It was clean and affordable. The location was a bit weird. Said 1800 feet from the beach. We were under the impression you can walk to the beach, but that’s not the case, def. Need a car.

I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room was not properly cleaned, the staff was unhelpful, and the overall experience was not good. The check-in process was slow and not informative, the street were noisy late at night, and basic amenities were either missing or not working properly. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again or recommend this hotel to others.

Even though the website says compact parking, I was still able to park my Yukon XL there with plenty of space. The room was spacious and clean, restroom was nice as well, and the air conditioning worked great.

Check in was at 4 but not realizing that we showed up at 2. They let us get our room a little early at 3.

(regardless of trying to check in early 2 hours before, as I was from out of town and checking time was not shown til we purchased the room thru hotels.com until after the payment) While in the front main office, I had to call them while waiting for 15+ min, and could hear the phone ringing inside while trying to find someone I could speak to. I come back at the proper checking time (4pm) lady with attitude told me I could get the refund for ACCIDENTALLY booking twice for the mediocre motel. But when hotels.com support tried to call them, they would not respond and I could not get a proper issue addressed from both sides. When we actually were able to get our room, she decides to put us on the 3rd floor, when there is absolutely nobody (no cars either in the parking lot) We go to our room as told up there, only to find a person clearly under the influence of something, playing music loud. Our fridge was also unplugged, could not store water bottles we brought as well. The fan inside the bathroom also was not working, as it made a sound similar to a car engine turbo. Overall this experience was horrible. Didn’t stay longer than 4 hours as we continued our trip, we had to find another place. Also this property has an infestation of roaches on the outside

Motel manager Rosa was super friendly. Room was clean. The ice machine was out though and there was a light that was on a sensor above the window that could not turn off. The housekeeper was super helpful and suggested to put tape over the button.

The owner lady is just awful. She is super grumpy and not welcoming or friendly whatsoever. I asked for a late check out due to a zoom meeting. She said 15 minutes or I’ll be charged 60 dollars. Terrible service

Did not end up staying there. We got caught in a situation where we didn’t have enough battery on our e-bikes to get back to our truck 20 miles away. We booked this hotel and when we went to check in the front desk worker said we couldn’t put our 2500 dollar bikes in the room. She would not let us stay there and she was very rude. I tried to cancel with hotels.com and when they called hotel the rude lady wouldn’t budge, so they basically took the $190 for a room they wouldn’t let us stay at. I ended up paying $50.00 to uber to take me 20 miles to pick up my truck. I left my wife sit at a crowded restaurant with our expensive bikes until I got back to pick her up. I do not recommend this place to anyone!!

Air conditioning is sucks. So if you go on a 70/80 degree day good luck. Parking was good.

Not saying I wouldn’t stay there again but there’s a few things you should know if your planning on staying here, the air conditioning didn’t work, there was dried liquids on the floor that never got cleaned, along with dirty hand towels, but I’ve stayed in much worse, the parking was great! They had a nice elevator witch made carrying our luggage to the room easy, all in all keep your windows open if you plan on staying here because the room gets extremely hot.

We arrived and found the door closed. We were left waiting for nearly 15 minutes before anyone assisted us. At one point, we were close to leaving, as it appeared that no one was working or available to receive us. Additionally, at the time of check-out, we were charged $40 for cleaning the room due to an alleged unpleasant odor in the room. Based on this experience, we will not be returning to this hotel in the future.

Just don’t book this. It’s advertised as “ocean view” but it’s a sketchy, dark, motel. We didn’t end up staying, even though we payed $300 for 2 nights. Terrible.

Nice place to stay if you’re going to Huntington Beach.Close to the pier and Main St for restaurants and shopping. Rooms are clean and property is clean nice people working there if you need anything.

No ice machine, my tv would only do volume and power if you physically adjusted or turned off at the TV. Floor was filthy. Could not fit into the shower. Constant excuses and lame explanations why everything doesn’t work. Actually had stayed two nights and then had to rebook and stay another night. There was six people staying there and I asked if I could get back to my old room or check in early and they said it would be a $60 charge. They purely did it for the money. There was rooms completely open. Plus the homeless people one actually walked by my door on the third floor and asked if she could take a shower in my room. You think they would do a better job of maintaining considering their location, but clearly ownership doesn’t care. I would definitely not recommend this place and I live in the area.

It was great just make sure your debit card or credit card matches with reservation. But the ac needs to fixed and everything else is good and great except theirs crackheads and almost had to kick ones ass for banging on our door

As a head housekeeper at travel lodge by Wyndham in bigspring tx I would have to say The room was a lil out dated, sheets were clean but when entering the room it was so stuffy and had a wet moldy smell. Would have been nice if the fridge was plugged in to put my cold stuff into floors left my white socks black and could of used some moping but it was cleaned.. and the shower head wouldn't stay on had to fix it myself.dnt know why she took 100 pre authorization from my card when there was no deposit cuz I paid on line and it said no deposit and there is hardly any parking so if ur driving something big think twice.

AC Didn’t Work.

The room smelled old and like cigarettes. The pillows were the size of throw pillows, and when I woke up the next day my hair smelled like cigarettes. I felt unsafe and barricaded my door when I was inside my room. The entire building looked old and rundown. The lighting was dim and one of the lights near the bed didn't work.

Our stay was amazing! It was quiet, we had a partial view of the ocean. The bed was comfortable and the feather down pillows...wow.

They let us check in about a half hour early- so that was nice- not very friendly, but still nice of them- the place was decent and clean-nothing glamorous but decent for a one night stay for the price-I would recommend and I would definitely stay there again-very close to the beach and next-door to a nice little coffee shop

The LUV coffee shop next door is great. The motel on Labor Day was WAY too pricey for what you get. Tiny TV, AC turned off when we arrived. Tiny fridge also unplugged. Could definitely find a better place for the money and there’s never anyone at the front desk when you need them. Will go elsewhere next year

the floors were not clean. But we liked the onsite manager Rosie, she was very helpful. the location was very convenient to access the Sunset and Huntington Beach areas.

I stay in room 310, with a view of the freeway and the sound of engines to go with it. I could of stayed at the best western for 180$ The parking was horrible, the bathroom was small.

I got insurance to cancel if needed. We cancelled no refund

The price was good for a brief overnight stay. Not the friendliest service but OK. The room had a microwave and fridge, which was nice. The location is good. Free parking. Bed was creaky but adequate. TV worked fine. Pretty clean. Overall, good value for money.

if you have open curtains. Website Photos deceiving undersized "Deluxe Room" with king bed. One positive the receptionist was kind and polite.

The sheets were not very clean. I asked for a set of clean sheets and was told “no” at first, then even that she didn’t believe me that the sheets were not clean. She ended up saying okay and replacing the sheets. My daughter and I walked barefoot in the room and ended up with black, dirty feet. It was disgusting! The place was along a high traffic area, so it was very noisy. I would not stay there again.

Overnight stay for work . Woke up early went fishing and the for a jog on the beach before work in Long Beach . Prime location and great price .

The motel is rundown and on a noisy street far from the beach, the service was poor.The building smelled of cooking food. On the positive side our room was cleaned daily and the beds were made daily.

Rude front desk

The staff was incredibly friendly and offered advice on tbings to do. They came every other day to change out the towels, clean the room, and make the bed...first time ive seen that in years! Its convenient to both Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach, and Long Beach. Its an older motel, but you can tell the family that runs it now is trying to rebuild the place jnto a reliable place to stay. I will definitely be back!

Found blood on my pillow and went to talk to the staff all they did was yell and claim that I was the one who did it.

We felt the room was small, tight to get around. Shower sprayed everywhere, toilet was really low, no room service. Had to get our own towels and toilet paper. Towels were pretty thin. Fridge didn’t work. Only one channel on the tv and remote didn’t work. Sheets were thin. Location was fairly good. About 1 mile from beach. You can hear and feel the vibration of the traffic. Thin walls. Great fotos in ad, but I give 3 stars

extremely rude to me and very invasive of my privacy. seen my door cracked and pushed it open to look inside which made me extremely uncomfortable and she had problem with everything me praying on my religion, me cooking, no other person in the room. was very loud, rude, disrespectful and entitled. The staff was rude. There were no tissues in the room. There was no maid service just towels. There was no view. The picture they showed in the advertisement the view was of the ocean. The view was one area on the third floor in one area not the ocean so the advertisement for this motel was misleading!

We really enjoyed our stay at OceanView Motel. Not only was it in a convenient location, it was clean, had a good price and Rosa is very hospitable. She made sure that we always had clean towels daily, and enough pillows for comfort. We will be back! Great price and great service!

Lights in the bathroom did not work.

It’s a place with a roof over your head. Not far from beach to walk. It’s got the basics but not comfortable. The bedding and pillows were terrible. Definitely a motel accommodation not a resort!

Facing tall condos. Busy street. OceanView motel shows a picture of being in front of ocean with palm tree. Lady explained that it was a neighborhood picture only.

Greta place to make stop in our road trip. It’s a really basic hotel, but it’s clean, and the girl at the front Des are sweet and give us good informations about the restaurants around and the City.

Floor was filthy and room smelled musty

We arrived an hour before check in and were not able to check in even though our room was ready. Hotel is called Oceanview, but does not have a view of the ocean. Houses block the view. Rooms are not cleaned daily. Towels are exchanged only upon request. We had to drive across the street to the beach as it was too far for us to carry our chairs, beach umbrella, beach bag and chest.

I did have to leave 2 days early and had I booked with the hotel I would have received a refund. Since I booked through Expedia, I don't know if I can get a refund, I also paid for the insurance. Next time will book through hotel.

TLDR: The property manager denied my dad check-in because she misunderstood the situation (he did have a cc with his name on it and cash for the $100 incidentals charge at the property, but when clarifying the specific amount he would be charged, she misunderstood and thought he only had an AmEx card - which they don't accept) and ultimately she turned him away. The kicker: He went back the next morning and explained himself again and she finally allowed him to check in, but she would not grant a refund for the night that she denied him check-in nor admit that she made a mistake. I'm disheartened by this because there was no accountability taken for the misunderstanding and no remedy to make it right on either end. While I'm glad it wasn't a total loss for the 2/3 days booked, it was still extremely frustrating. I've used Expedia quite a lot over the past couple of years, but after all of that, I won't be returning. :( What's worse, is my dad could hear the property manager arguing with other guests as well. Save your money and book somewhere else!

Proximity to beach was convenient but low budget hotel. The problem was I couldn’t microwave a frozen meal the microwave gave out half way through and the staff gave me hassle to help. Next morning tried to microwave breakfast and was told I had to wait till 8am bf they could help. Still waiting to see if I get my deposit back as she stated microwaves don’t heat stoffers meals. I’m sure others would have more to say
