Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the central location, friendly staff, and cleanliness, but expressing concerns about small rooms, lack of elevator, and parking issues. Some guests also mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance in certain rooms.
- Central location
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Small rooms
- Lack of elevator and parking issues
- 5/5
Rooms are small and cozy very clean! Building is a bit on the older side but very well taken care of. A/c worked great! My only concern is parking was limited but we made it on time to get one. We walked to most spots for dinner very nice area! Beds were super comfy!!
- 3/5
There were a few issues upon arrival. The room was unlocked which was odd. It has a coded door lock but when you leave it does not automatically lock so you have to remember to manually lock it. Same for when you’re in the room. Although there was a window AC unit, there was still central AC that was only controlled by the front desk. So it was freezing in the room and I had to ask the front desk several times to either turn it down or off. The lobby area is always locked so if you want to go to the kitchen or get coffee you have to hope someone is there to buzz you in. I’ve stayed at these boutique-ey type properties before but this one just kind of missed the mark. Maybe a few tweaks to how they do things will help them in the future. That all said, it’s got a great location food, coffee etc. close by. And after the all the check in problems the staff comped my parking so that was great.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff
- 4/5
Overall, the property is quaint and quite. Certain rooms can be smallish. Good location.
- 4/5
Small room but clean & had coffee & water included
- 1/5
The ac didn't work I was uncomfortable the whole time there i want a refund but they told me no
- 5/5
The staff is great he did was weather but all in all a happy place to see mom
- 4/5
I thoroughly enjoyed the room, however, the parking was a nightmare. I had to park so far away and it cost me $32.
- 5/5
I rented this for a volleyball tourney weekend. I was able to walk to the convention center and eat/drink comfortably within the general vicinity. I was a solo dad on this and the room was no frills but it was a very comfortable stay.
- 2/5
very dirty. Under my bed had cups, trash and everything was dusty and dirty. The picture of the room is veeery different than what you get. My room was so small literally a bed close to the wall next to a fridge. I didn't even have a place to put my bag and clothing. but for the price guess you get what you get.
- 5/5
The price was excellent for a downtown Long Beach stay, and the environment felt quiet, clean, and genuinely comfortable. The staff stood out as well; consistently helpful, considerate, and attentive in a way that made my stay feel easy and welcoming.
- 3/5
Linen was not clean in room. No housekeeping staff to replace dirty linen. Bathroom was clean but smelled and felt super humid.
- 3/5
Community kitchen was well equipped. Great location in downtown LBC.
- 1/5
Now, Hotel Royal refuses to reimburse. The whole experience with this hotel was miserable.
- 2/5
Staff was very helpful. However, the hotel needs some help.. The suite/apartment we stayed in needs a thorough and deep cleaning, a coat of paint and perhaps new flooring in the living and kitchen area. There are new rooms in the hotel that may be better. Overall, for the price point, it was okay. We were there for one day prior to a cruise. This hotel reminds me of a hostel. It seems as though they are working to make continued upgrades. I’m guessing that once upgrades are made, pricing will go up. Again, it was fine for one night. I’m not sure we’d stay there again.
- 5/5
I think the property was great, staff was great. Everything was within a 10-20 min walk. If I'm ever in Long Beach again, will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
cozy clean just like the pictures great great location. hour early check in.
- 4/5
I stayed here this past weekend and the room was small but comfortable very comfortable bed. The hotel was quiet. The staff was helpful. The only complaint I have is how small the shower was and it took a long time for hot water. Everything else was good and I’d definitely stay with Hotel Royal again
- 4/5
Clean, convenient, would use them again
- 5/5
I felt like I was at home in my own bedroom.
- 3/5
The staff was polite and the location is central to many nice restaurants and bars. The issue was that when I got there I found three hairs in the bathroom.
- 5/5
I’m going to make up an excuse to stay there for a week I loved it so much.
- 5/5
Cool, non-chain boutique hotel in Long Beach Arts District. Cool staff; good room; excellent AC; nice decor. Close to good places to go. We are very satisfied.
- 5/5
Highly recommend if staying in Long Beach. Walking distance from all the action in Downtown. We got the Royal lodge. Has its own front entrance and its huge.
- 5/5
GREAT location. Charming rooms. Great staff.
- 5/5
Stayed at Hotel Royal many times, its a good little get away. It has a 1920's 30's charm to it that can't be beat. Highly recommend.
- 2/5
Cheap place so i didn’t expect much but cmon now, floor was sticky, desk was dirty, side tables were disgusting, shower was even worse, drops of some brown liquid on sink in bathroom. You get what you pay for tho.
- 2/5
Filthy room, weak air-conditioning, bad water heater. The property is very outdated, poorly renovated, and poorly maintained.
- 2/5
It's cute, but poorly renovated and dirty. The towels were stinky, air conditioner was filthy, dust on everything. Bed was clean and the price wasn't too bad.
- 5/5
Very nice staff and great property, only con is no elevator!
- 5/5
A great staff and an opportunity to stay in a 1920's hotel. Great night's sleep.
- 4/5
Room was small but it was clean.
- 5/5
Great little spot to spend the night before our cruise. The stairs going up to the rooms can be tricky with luggage. The pier area not too far away is a great way to walk around and grab dinner. Definitely would stay here again.
- 4/5
I got the single bedroom, and it was literally the size of a child’s room or smaller. Clean and i didn’t expect the size because of the pictures, but staff were friendly and easy. Parking is on the street so it gets filled
- 5/5
It is a hidden gem.
- 4/5
Wasn't Happy about $25 a day for outdoor SKETCHY Parking Lot in a Filthy Alley with Homeless everywhere.
- 1/5
Two seperate buildings
- 5/5
Great place to stay prior to cruising from Long Beach. Royal Loft was very spacious. Staff very helpful!
- 5/5
Great
- 2/5
For the price and how rundown the place is. I would not stay here again. There was stains on the chair and walls. The bathroom was not very clean. The tub Has chips where you stand to take a shower. The water pressure is very low. The staff is very nice and helpful.
- 2/5
Entire stay was an odd experience starting at check in.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
The Hotel Royal is literally the most amazing place to stay on earth. I wish I could live there 24/7. It’s such a calm beautiful space with such character. I recommend it to everyone!
- 5/5
Feels like home❤️
- 2/5
The ONLY reason why I rated the hotel a 2 is because of the motion sensor lights in our room and bathroom. We could not move within the room or go pass the bathroom without ALL the lights coming on. Super annoying!! We also noticed light switches in the most out of reach places. Two on the ceiling and one on the wall next to the AC unit.
- 4/5
It’s a nice little place. Rooms are tiny but clean.
- 3/5
Asked for room service before the time the hotel policy states 2 days in a row and my room was never attended. Coffee maker didn’t work and I did request a new. Staff stated they would get me a new one and I never received it.
- 5/5
I love this Hotel! I stay here every time I'm in Long Beach visiting my college student. This was my third stay and wasn't as great as the previous two due to the room having some issues, but I will definitely give them another chance.
- 3/5
We loved the community kitchen for morning coffee. Great concept. Staff was great. Room was clean, but sparse. Stairs to room very dirty. Shower took about five minutes to heat up and pressure was terrible. Street noise after bars closed was very loud. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
location AND SERVICE PROVIDED WAS GREAT, ROOM CLEAN, MISSING WAS SOME PLACE TO HANG YOUR CLOTHING, OTHER THAN THAT GREAT STAY. IT WAS A LOT TO PAY FOR ONE NIGHT STAY FOR CAR PLUS LOCATION NOT SO GREAT,
- 5/5
I enjoy staying here. Super convenient
- 5/5
Stayed 3 nights with my dog. Felt like home
- 2/5
Air condition did not work, room was dirty
- 2/5
No elevator, roaches
- 4/5
Hotel Royal is a boutique hotel, as advertised. It is right in downtown LB so is highly walkable to nearly everything you'd like. I took the train from LAX and the station is a few blocks away; the staff is super friendly and helpful and responsive; it is a walk-up property so take that into consideration. My room was small- it was too small to fit a chair so it had no chair. I like to work on the computer in the morning so that was not ideal. I equated the room size and bathroom size to some European boutique hotels. I Ndo not know if other rooms were larger, though i suspect some are. I grabbed a bike every morning for a ride on the beach bike path- offering a free bike rental is nice, though i wish they had a simple allen wrench to adjust the seat heights; i tried to find one to given them but failed; I used the refrig in the room- always nice to have one.
- 5/5
The room/bathroom was small but absolutely perfect for a solo traveller, the room was beautifully decorated and clean, the bed was very comfortable. The room and bathroom had all the needed items to make the stay totally comfortable! fridge, microwave, coffee maker. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, I will be back! Great price for the value.
- 5/5
Really had an issue that there was no elevator! My parents are in their 80s with mobility issues. Many, many very steep stairs!
- 2/5
Make no mistake this is grunge town. The pictures look good online and the reviews said it was good, but not my cup of tea. Use my own sheets and the AC did not stay on cool the whole night. The bath is extra small, no one over 6' can use the shower. The Parking is a nightmare for $25 per night which will bring the total up to a brand hotel without all the issues. It depends if want the real urban experience or a good night's sleep. Your choice.
- 5/5
I was there for a night, location was great walking distance to night life and good food. Comfy bed
- 5/5
Great stay! The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was perfect. I would definitely come back
- 5/5
They were very nice. Please keep it up because I always stay there
- 5/5
Hotel staff were extremely friendly and easy to reach/get ahold of. The room was clean and a nice size, I especially appreciated the size of the fridge/freezer. There was a window a/c unit, which did a great job of keeping the room cool, as it was much warmer than expected when I was traveling. I would definitely stay here again!
- 3/5
Great location, price for the area. AC was fine. Walls are very thin, literally heard someone snoring in another room. Cleanliness and repair of fixtures need help. Staff was great,. It suited my needs for a conference stay
- 4/5
The club is an 8 minute walk. And the parking is limited
- 5/5
I stayed in this hotel for the second time. It's easy go around and safe surroundings. I love the communal kitchen. Room is clean and well equipped with coffee pods etc. Check in is fast. My only suggestion is a full length mirror is needed in the room.
- 2/5
The room was not as shown on their web site. There were no drawers to put anything in. The shower was very tiny. My biggest complaint was that there was no elevator and they never stated that.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel small but perfect
- 4/5
Very friendly staff. Small rooms and could have been cleaner.
- 2/5
Cute Lobby. The location to the town is good, but it is super noisy and the parking and walking in the evening and night is not safe. Unfortunately, there are a lot of homeless around the entire block and people out all night yelling. The day staff was very nice. The check in staff barely acknowledged anyone even looked up. Be prepared to walk up 2-3 floors of very steep stairs. We wanted to live this property, but it didn’t feel safe.
- 5/5
Great location and pleasant boutique Hotel. The staff are always friendly. I have stay here a few times and have never been disappointed. I look forward to staying here again next month.
- 3/5
Staff were great, room was clean and comfortable
- 4/5
Very clean. Great bed.
- 5/5
Very clean, all my needs met, staff was super kind and helpful.
- 3/5
The room was very dated and small. We stayed in room 13 in the main building and it was very small. We had to put our suit cases on the bed. The bathroom was even smaller. the shower was only 3x3. I will say the location is great close to food and the pier. But i would not recommend.
- 3/5
Clean. Staff wonderful.
- 4/5
Queen room was perfect for one person, I don’t need a lot so it was great.
- 4/5
It’s old cleanliness is ok staff is nice and quick checkin
- 4/5
The staff was great and the room was cute and clean. Overall the experience was amazing.
- 1/5
Mess in the room (blood and bloody pads), cockroaches, and overall not a good place. Some very nice people at the front desk though!
- 5/5
Room was very clean and the hotel itself is super cute. The location is wonderful and made it easy to get around. General Manager Jose and the entire staff went out of their way to be courteous and kind, which really made the stay special. I felt very welcome and well taken care of. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Long Beach.
- 5/5
Staff was courteous. Room was clean and cozy. Location was near restaurants and other shops. Very convenient.
- 3/5
As for the hotel..... where do i start? The narrow, rickety stairs going to the second floor were covered in gross, stained carpet. The room was tiny. I was not expecting it to be so closed in. Although clean in appearance, the overwhelming sent of airfreshiner was gagging both myself and my gf. There was nowhere to sit comfortably. My gf was so alarmed she immediately started checking the bed for bed bugs. Thankfully we could open the windows to air out the room. We left pretty quick to go get dinner. The walk towards the marina was nice. There are a million restaurants and cute shops all within walking distance. We got back to the room pretty tired so we went to bed and found the bed surprisingly very comfortable. Had a great nights sleep. The next morning the same sweet clerk was working the front desk and helped us back down the scary stairs with our baggage. Some good, some bad. Just be prepare before you book here. My biggest issue. This is clearly a MOTEL, not a hotel. And should be reclassified as such.
- 5/5
Very good
- 5/5
Perfect
- 5/5
The staff was great and welcoming. would stay here again when im back in the area
- 1/5
Terrible place. Very small room, no place to put your language, no closet , no shelves, nothing, just two hangers on the wall. Yo can see light from the hallway in your room. Doors are not safe at all. Windows are covered in a spider web and dust. It looks nothing similar what you see on the pictures online. We checked out after 10 minutes. I’m very surprised why it has such a high rating, hard to believe in it. Contacted the manager for refund and it was of course declined. Property located next to the love toy store.
- 3/5
Kind of weird place. But it did the job. Just different from what I’m used to.
- 5/5
The all arou d vibes of the hotel and staff were absolutely amazing. I would definately love to stay there again.
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
Room was clean and tidy. Bed was very comfy. Water pressure in the shower was great. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Coffee in communal kitchen was nice.
- 4/5
Great location, there are some stairs for access but walking distance to everything downtown!
- 3/5
Rooms had good amenities like kitchen and walk to breach but was old. Primary bedroom had a double and sofa sleeper had a SUPER thin mattress.
- 3/5
No elevator, rooms very dated and small.
- 3/5
Room was clean, staff was nice. Less than what was depicted on the site
- 5/5
Cute boutique hotel.
- 1/5
The AC in the room did not work at all. No drawers or closet for clothes. Mattress was old and uncomfortable. Too expensive for such a poorly maintained motel.
- 4/5
Yes clean room
- 5/5
M
- 5/5
Pleasant near port hotel
- 5/5
Rooms are small with limited storage, but it is clean and has all the facilities you could want, fridge, microwave. Air Con is a little noisy andcthe Roku TV took a bit of getting used to but the staff are helpful and friendly. Good value.
- 5/5
I’ve stayed twice at this very cute quaint hotel downtown. Best price for a decent hotel in the area. Staff friendly. clean room. The room and bathroom were very small but has all the necessities - chair, fridge, microwave. The rooms are all on level 2 or 3 so if you are unable to use stairs I suggest a different hotel.
- 4/5
Check-in was excellent. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Location is excellent for accessing pier and dining options. However when we requested an additional bedding we were told there was none….this is unacceptable for a hotel. Hotel cleanliness definitely needs some work….room was not very clean. Would rate 3/5.
- 3/5
This is a strange hotel. I actually liked the concept, but it is not modern or slick. The place is in three buildings next to each other. You use codes to enter, not keys. The parking is through an alley on the other side of the block. The staff was amazing and friendly.
- 5/5
Room with clean. Small but serviceable for a Solo traveler or a couple.
- 4/5
Staff was courteous, the in room coffee maker wsd broken. But the compementerary coffee in the main office was good.
- 3/5
The staff was very kind. The room was small and it was difficult to place my suitcase in the room. It took a long time for the water to get hot in the room, and I needed an ironing board and had to get a mini version at the front desk, with little room to iron in my room.
- 5/5
Rougher part of town but as long as you are back before dark, no problems. Will stay here again.
- 4/5
Very unique hotel, enjoyed our stay. Room was very small.
- 5/5
I thought the interior of this hotel was very charming and really appreciated their security system for guests. Made it easier to haul our stuff in trips with a peace of mind. The two invidiuals I met running the lobby during our stay were very friendly and helpful. Barely heard any outside noise from our room, AC/heater was great, great shower but the tub is a bit high -- hard to get in and out of. Hotel is at a great spot, Vons is an easy walk to get to. Overall wonderul stay, would absolutely stay at again.
- 4/5
A unique & interesting hotel. It’s ann older place with character and charm. Only problem was no elevator, so carried suitcases up 2 floors. A staff member did carry our luggage downstairs when checking out. Otherwise staff very courteous & friendly, area had lots of restaurants. People who walk their dogs do not clean up their poop 💩 so be watchful and aware.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing!! Went above and beyond!
- 5/5
Staff were super friendly. Easy, organized check-in and check-out. Room was compact, very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Room did not have close hanging area yet was no issue with me since it was just overnite. I’ve stayed here many times and will return. Such a great vibe and location . Not for someone with mobility issues.
- 5/5
This was my second stay here! It’s a nice little hotel that has everything I need. The rooms are small, but that worked fine for my needs. They have a nice little communal kitchen that was really convenient. East location to walk around downtown. And the staff are very kind and friendly! I’ll be back if I’m back in the area again!
- 5/5
Nice place
- 2/5
No elevator (did not mentioned it), A/C would turn off during the night waking us up. Musty/damp odor.
- 5/5
Clean and cute room
- 5/5
Room is cozy, but has everything needed for our stay. I love the uniqueness and character of the hotel. Staff is outstanding! This wasxa great choice.
- 5/5
The staff was very attentive. The room was very cozy and the bedding is very comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly very inviting and very informative told me about the area and very engaging the room was quite and okay a nice little boutique hotel with a little charm it's not a five star but it's definitely a nice spot to stay and be in the middle of everything
- 5/5
It was a nice spot I'm glad I picked it it's a boutique hotel is great for a short stay the area was great and walkable a lot of eateries and entertainment was around first time in Long Beach and hopefully it won't be my last and I'll definitely come back here again
- 5/5
Nice
- 3/5
The building was nice and quaint
- 4/5
No elevators if you have a lot of bags or need ADA accessibility, but very friendly staff.
- 4/5
Clean room. Staff was help fil and friendly
- 5/5
The staff member was very nice and helpful . The room was very clean.
- 5/5
I've stayed here at least 5 times and I absolutely love it here.
- 4/5
The room was actually very nice. It's kind of a cool setup. No noise and no hassles. Very conveniently located and the staff are fantastic at communication.
- 5/5
Everything we needed. Cool neighbourhood!
- 5/5
Good location. Nice room. Had everything we needed.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, the amenities were great and the staff was excellent.
- 5/5
Great location and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
The staff was so nice! Felt right at home
- 5/5
Cute place. Great location
- 5/5
Easy check in and check out great location walking distance to cafes and bars weekend it’s free parking
- 5/5
I had a very enjoyable stay. The staff was extremely kind. I felt safe and comfortable. It was nice. They held my luggage for me the day I checked out because my flight wasn’t till late in the evening and that way I got to tour around Long Beach again I would definitely recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Nice and friendly staff
- 5/5
This is a great hotel and in a great area, right near the train station. Lots of great stores and restaurants in the area and the Apartment Queen room is very spacious.
- 4/5
The location is downtown and within walking distance from several interesting restaurants and cocktail lounges. The surrounding architecture is interesting and photogenic.
- 5/5
Staff is so friendly and helpful and we will ALWAYS stay here when we visit Long Beach!
- 3/5
I never got the text with the door code, and I question the cleanliness of the rooms. I found two hairs on the bathroom floor when I arrived, and they were definitely not mine! I was not searching for hairs, they were very obvious. Finding them made me question the cleanliness of everything else. As well, there was much disorder in the stuff piled behind the concierge desk. This type of disorderliness always makes me question the efficacy of management.
- 3/5
Rooms were great. Needs super comfortable. But the hike up 3 flights of stairs with baggage. Not so much. The hotel halls could use a remodel.
- 4/5
The front desk staff were helpful and courteous. We stayed in the 2 queen loft and there was ample room for the four of us. The bathroom fixtures are a little dated and rusty but everything was clean. We enjoyed having a dining area to sit at and two TV areas for the teens. We cooked one meal on site and felt the room had adequate kitchen supplies for 4 people. Overall, I would recommend and would stay again.
- 4/5
Loved the staff! Very professional and helpful. Got the deluxe king and the bathroom was a bit small. No counter space, and shower was very tiny. But I did love how unique the hotel was.
- 3/5
I just can not believe that. This hotel is like a hole in the wall and it has so many opportunities for growth. Let's talk about the positivities the rooms look pretty nice, you can rent out a bike, a lot of food choices that are walkable around the area, it's very quiet at night. The down size was the cleanliness in the room the silverware really wasn't clean, we had a mysterious stain on the wall in the bathroom that potentially look like mold, when you first come in the hotel itself. The hotel smells very strange and really it's about hand washing the walls and also picking up that carpet and possibly putting down new carpet because it felt very muggy, had a strange smell and it was pretty much hard to breathe. Our rooms didn't smell like the hallway.
- 3/5
Cute, and fairly clean, but the smallest room I have ever stayed in :) Good location. Communal style vibe. Affordable. Free coffee!
- 5/5
Love this hotel. This was my second visit there while visiting my child in College
- 5/5
Staff were lovely and helpful, & we slept quite comfortably. Hope to book again in the future!
- 4/5
The staff was friendly. What we did NOT like was the very strong cleaning solution. We had to open windows. It causes an asthma issue for me. The stairs are very steep. Cute and quirky room upstairs aside from the strong chemical smell.
- 5/5
The room was very nice, clean, modern and plenty of amenities for a great stay.
- 4/5
When I arrived I was told they had no more parking available so I had to drive around 40 minutes looking for parking. Structures were either full or no over night parking.
- 3/5
crappy stairs
- 5/5
The room was very clean and the staff were super friendly. I look forward to booking here again.
- 1/5
Broken bed, strong chemical cleaners. Screens out of windows, dirty area. We were offered a refund after discussing at front desk, but hotel manager declined after the fact once we had already left. Hotel very run down after seeing in person.
- 5/5
Polite knowledgeable staff and clean room ft local art!
- 5/5
Good location, plenty of walkable restaurants, shopping and near the water front. The building is older and could use some cleaning/renovation but for the price this is hard to beat. I stayed here Solo before a cruise out of San Pedro and would again!
- 3/5
It's was great for what was needed. The staff get 5stars they were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms could be upgraded wasn't the cleanest and saw/killed a couple of roaches but the linen was Clean smelled like bleach. The room was as clean as they could get it. Pretty much just needs an upgrade. Would I stay there again? Sure only for the night as we did. We had just gotten off a cruise and needed a place to crash before flying out. It did its job.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
- 1/5
I had a very terrible experience during my stay . The checkin instructions were very clear but once we entered nothing was good . There was dust on the blankets and the bed was small for two people ( definitely wasn’t queen size ) and was shaking so much .The bathroom was even worse , the shower was so small I kept hitting my elbows on th sides while bathing and there was rust in the toilet . I am glad that I just booked one night. Don’t fall for the price, Avoid this place if you can.
- 1/5
Roaches they have roaches the rooms look nothing like the ones one online the hallway smells damp I did not get a comfortable
- 5/5
Great staff! The neighborhood is a tiny bit iffy but it seems like it’s improving. The deluxe king room is super nice!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful
- 4/5
Yes
- 5/5
Came in from Texas to see my husband who works on the cruise ship nearby (< 10 min drive). Can’t beat the price for this cute quaint place. Very clean room, comfortable bed, freezing AC. Everything you need for a small trip. We loved it. Forewarning - the room is very small, and the shower is for 1 person to fit. If you don’t care about the room size or the stairs to 2nd or 3rd floor it’s a great place.
- 1/5
We have to find another place to stay at midnight and the property knew we were checking in late Also said they were going to send check in instructions via text that we never got
- 4/5
Checkin was easy, bed was super comfortable!!! Room was clean!!! Stairs were easy for us but might be an issue for others? Very minimal water pressure in the small shower. We were here for a night and we slept well.
- 5/5
Great location, pleasant staff
- 1/5
THE ROOM LOOKED NOTHING LIKE WHAT WAS ADVERTISED
- 5/5
Clean room and staff was super nice!
- 5/5
Location is close to everything
- 5/5
The room was older, but clean. It was very close to the LB Convention Center, which made it very convenient. Friendly staff, quiet, and overall a great place to stay.
- 2/5
I don't know how you meet the ADA standards. I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. The bath/shower was dangerous.
- 5/5
Great service
- 1/5
parking is down a dirty alley behind an apartment building that had homeless people and a drug deal going on. Room has a portable air conditioner, dirt and dust on walls , carpet in hall is dirty , no closet or hangers in room for my clothes .Area is not safe to walk around past dark to get food .one window opened to a weird chamber with bars on the area .
- 2/5
The room smelled terrible, instead of cleaning, it smelled like perfume was sprayed. Steps were to steep, and dirty
- 2/5
The room is small, not much space to walk or put open luggages. Bath is even smaller, bathroom sink counter is also small. The shower curtain is a bit short for the shower stall, so when showering, water got everywhere. Recommend to install a longer shower curtain. The bed is comfortable. One night stay is works.
- 5/5
Staff was super nice and helpful describing things how parking works and all amenities they offer like their bikes. Super nice area close to the beach and other attractions
- 5/5
Great location and great pricing.
- 4/5
Ice stay very central to attractions rooms very small and tiered
- 5/5
room was clean, comfortable and easy to access/check in even despite my late arrival into town. would recommend to anyone staying near Long Beach Waterfront
- 1/5
Night stay I will take civil action for the credit card fraud I was a victim of. Patrick M. Bastian
- 3/5
Parking in back of building was human feces and trash everywhere, also smells bad with a lot of flys .across the street i can hear 2 homeless people arguing. The room was clean but small and dated. I'm glad there was a small refrigerator/ microwave and coffee maker
- 2/5
Roaches in the room and shower randomly turned on in the wee hours of the morning
- 5/5
Go to ordinaire tavern. Get the beef dip you won’t regret it! Definitely would stay here again! Also free bikes to use during stay. Thanks again
- 4/5
Easy check in .. my room was in an annex next door… great stay .. only issue is as a boutique hotel no elevator/lift… trying to lug 3 pieces of luggage up and down the stairs was a headache.. also no breakfast places nearby that open before 8am…
- 4/5
Need an outside gathering place since rooms are so small.
- 4/5
Impeccably clean room. Homeless and drug dealing in parking lot.
- 5/5
Staff is great room is comfortable but loud on a main street which we knew about ahead of time. Only thing was the hair in the drain of the shower was not cleaned out properly. Great restaurants were recommended and within walking distance. Overall great place.
- 4/5
Room was clean, air conditioned worked, staff was ok
- 5/5
Very charming.
- 1/5
Cockroaches were everywhere
- 1/5
We arrived after 11pm; however, we talked to the clerk earlier. They texted us and gave us instructions to self check-in. They gave us room #31, but when we arrived, we could not find room number 31. We had to drive around and find another hotel late at night
- 5/5
Unique and very cool
- 5/5
Everything about the room was amazing. Its definitely a different kinda atmosphere, but in a good way.
- 5/5
Walkable area. Grocery and restaurants very near. Front desk very helpful and efficient. Nice boutique hotel. Will stay again
- 5/5
The staff is awesome! Didn’t realize that there isn’t an elevator here. They carried our luggage up to our room!
- 1/5
Expedia should never have listed the property. This isn’t a normal hotel, it’s more like a cross between a hostel and a 1930s skid row flophouse. The tiny rooms have an ancient sink crammed next to a bed. The “bathroom” has no door, just an old toilet and a tiny shower with an old shower curtain. The hallways feature communal bathrooms.
- 5/5
A hidden beauty within a crowded city. Loved the layout and all the surrounding features they implemented into the atmosphere surrounding your stay.
- 3/5
We booked the Cozy Queen room, but when we arrived, we were surprised by how small it was. It looks very different in the photos compared to the actual room, it appeared much more spacious online. However, the staff were very nice and accommodating, which we truly appreciated.
- 5/5
It was a great stay and close to the port for your cruise!
- 5/5
Stayed for Long Beach Marathon. Everything was conveniently close. Restaurants were within walking distance. Marathon was a 10 minute walk to the starting line. Staff was extremely friendly.
- 5/5
Close to great restaurants, amazing flower shop next door, and very friendly and helpful staff!
- 4/5
Everything is small the rooms, bathroom and the sink. Customer service is great. But I am 5’4” and my feet hang of bed..
- 5/5
Great location! Small but clean
- 5/5
Shops nearby
- 5/5
Great stay, by far best option for the price in long beach
- 4/5
Kind of difficult for two senior citizens with their luggage because we were going on a cruise the next day The room that we got was tiny. The bathroom did not have a sink. The sink was outside of the bathroom and you have to go around the bed to get to the sink to wash your hands which was kind of ridiculous.
- 4/5
The hotel is small. It does not have an elevator. The rooms are very very small. Sink it’s next to bed. Walking space around bed limited.
- 3/5
It’s difficult finding this hotel, you don’t see any sign with the hotel name, the parking nasty, and the receptionist needs to be kind and show a nice welcome
- 2/5
From arrive the hotel check in staff greet welcome and porvid good info around the area 。This hotal property are old building without left have staff help luggage move up to second floor 。Room looks clean but comforter are smile have to change as my request ,cockroach running around in the room , The air conditioner behind headboard make noise every few minutes hard to have deep sleep 。The good thing is just stay one night .
- 4/5
Quaint place and budget friendly.
- 5/5
Nice clean room and property!
- 5/5
It was a quaint, yet modern room. Everything I needed was provided. I'd return for sure.
- 4/5
Staff and air conditioning is great. Parking is okay. It is cheaper to park on the street but can be difficult to find a spot at night. Location is the best. It is close to so many good restaurants. Our room can be bigger though. We will use this place again.
- 4/5
They don’t include information in regards of that you do need to pay extra $25 dollars per day out of your pocket or else find free parking outside of the hotel which it felt unsafe and not secure leading for couple of homeless people on the sidewalk throughout day and night
- 5/5
Cozy spot before our cruise. In the heart of downtown.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice it was a different stay but very nice being tucked in downtown kind of a incognito stay we both enjoyed it
- 4/5
The area was a little sketchy, but the hotel was great. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only recommendation that I have is that they need a new coffee maker in the room, it’s crap.
- 5/5
Historic building, very conveniently located for A Line and Long Beach. Room was clean with plenty of facilities, TV, microwave, fridge & coffee maker. Not much storage space but friendly and informative staff.
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
We stay here quite often sobweblovebit here!
- 5/5
No elevator no central air
- 5/5
The hotel was great for what we needed. It is close to the cruise port and several restaurants. Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
The staff was very welcoming and we loved the ease of use of the shared kitchen facility. We could also walk to everything we wanted to see!
- 5/5
Great location and cute hotel
- 5/5
Very reliable,and clean
- 3/5
This hotel is for sure a 3-star. It started when we got there and they waited 5 minutes before our room was supposed to be ready to inform we would in a separate building. I asked a question about whether our bags could be brought over and he said, "As I said, they will be." That is not how you speak to guest and in fact is rude. The room and bed itself was not dirty but the towels weren't white and the bathroom lacked a through cleaning in between guest. The front desk person while nice when awake because he kept falling asleep. I think it would be beneficial to tell people that you all don't have an elevator and would expect people to carry your luggage up and down all those steep stairs. Overall not a terrible stay could of been a lot better 3/5.
- 5/5
Enjoyed the secured outside entrance and keyless room code wntry
- 5/5
I enjoyed stay in this property. It was clean, quiet and convenient.
- 5/5
Nice place helpful staff
- 5/5
A sweet space for an overnight stay for a convention. Wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed a bike ride along PCH.
- 5/5
We LOVED our stay at Hotel Royal! The staff was super friendly and accommodating! We arrived at 11:30am (check in wasn’t til 3) and they held our bags for an hour as we grabbed a bite to eat and then they texted us that we could check in early! We got to the room and it was very clean, open and airy. It even smelled clean! Loved it. So nice. Also our favorite part was that we got to use their complimentary bikes both days of our stay. We used them to see ALL of Long Beach. It was a great way to get around and made our stay so much easier and cost effective! Really great experience and would highly recommend!
- 4/5
Good location
- 5/5
Great location in downtown Long Beach. Easy walk to the beach. Easy walk to the Metro A Line. Great restaurants within walking distance. Easy ride on the 111 bus to and from LGB airport.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and secure! Check in was very easy and we especially enjoyed the complimentary bikes available to ride! Great way to see city!
- 4/5
We had a lot of homeless sleeping right outside the building. Staff was amazing! We were able to rent bikes to ride down to the beach.
- 3/5
The TV was at an inconvenient angle, making it hard to watch comfortably. It had Roku. On the positive side, the room came with a medium-sized fridge, coffee maker, microwave, table, and tableware, which were very handy. Everything was clean, but the room was not soundproof, so outside noise could be an issue. One important note: there’s no elevator, which could be inconvenient if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns.
- 2/5
Had to carry a heavy suitcase up 3 flights of stairs. Creepy atmosphere? Will not stay there again
- 5/5
Loved
- 4/5
Nice little place, emphasis on little :) room was tiny.
- 4/5
Nice place, didnt know it was stairs but it all good still was able to get my things up with the help of hotel staff thank you!!
- 5/5
We’ve stayed a few times now and we love it! Cute n quaint and excellent service. I live the texting feature to reach them!
- 5/5
Walking distance to restaurants and bars. The bed was vey cozy and comfortable. The AC was amazing. Enjoyed the uniqueness of the room and building.
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
Love the uniqueness. Everyone was super friendly. Loved our loft. Having bikes is cool.
- 5/5
EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
- 5/5
Bathroom was to small
- 3/5
It is cool
- 1/5
Room was tiny, had fruit flies, and bathroom was not looking clean. There is no elevator. I had to carry my baggage up the stairs. It was a long one!
- 5/5
We had a great stay here. Our flight was changed and they let us check in pretty early. The room was clean and the shower was awesome. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and we were really close to a lot of things. Recommend starting here and will stay here again if we are in the area again.
- 5/5
Very pleasant stay. Checking in and out was a breeze. The location was also perfect for our visit.
- 5/5
It was small and cute!
- 5/5
Excellent service by the manager
- 5/5
Great little great little hotel
- 5/5
Convenient if you’re taking the ferry to Catalina; the hotel is just a 7-minute drive away. It’s also close and walkable to many shops and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay here again if I was in Long Beach.
- 5/5
Great location in Long Beach at very affordable rates. Plus both Jose and Rosy are very helpful and friendly.
- 4/5
Front desk not open 24/7. Walkable. Many homeless. Room was comfortable and clean. Small sink area.
- 4/5
Room was clean, cute decor. The outside sidewalk areas are not so clean, unrelated to the Hotel.
- 3/5
The hotel was very quaint and the gentleman who checked us in was extremely nice and friendly. However, the overnight attendant seemed extremely annoyed that we asked for a few extra towels (which had random long hairs on several of them). Both the sink and the shower drains were slow-draining. We had to keep stopping the water, esp in the shower, to keep it from overflowing. The sofa-bed was extremely rickety. My daughters were afraid it would flip over whenever they got in and out of it.
- 2/5
The room looked nothing like the photos shown on Orbitz. The room was small, the bathroom was small and the bathroom sink was located in the opposite corner of the room. The bathroom toilet was about 3 feet from the bed. The bathroom towels were dingy and had threads hanging from them from wear. Basically looked like old towels that could be used as rags. There was no elevator which meant climbing 20+ stairs which is a pain when your luggage is heavy. The reception area closed for the night and didn't open till 7 am.
- 3/5
The hotel room was clean but did not lived up to my expectation according to their ratings. For starters the hotel room was on the second floor with no elevators. Had to carry our luggage to the second floor room. The room had a portable AC unit which took up what little space there was available for a small room. There were no closet space at all. Would have been nice of them to let me know in advance of these inconvienances.
- 3/5
It was okay area is a little dirty hotel is retro which is cool but needs to be cleaned up better but staff was cool
- 1/5
There was so much homeless outside very dirty and lobby was closed and just dirty
- 4/5
Great location. The room was clean and cozy. One of the hotel receptionists was friendly and helpful (male) but when we encountered another receptionist (female) she had a horrible attitude and looked annoyed because we were trying to borrow the bikes which we didn't end up using after all. Overall pleasant stay with the exception of the female receptionist's attitude. I would recommend if you're looking for an affordable and clean option that is walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the pier.
- 5/5
Next time I am back in Long Beach, I am definitely staying here. Staff were very personable and friendly. In addition, the location was great. The room was also surprisingly very big and spacious. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Easy to check in. Clean and quiet.
- 5/5
Such a cute place. It’s a great location and the service was excellent!
- 1/5
I was very surprised (Shocked) when I got to this hotel, It was a rough looking little place. that looked like a hostel. When we got our room number and walked past the porn store to a porch and then up the filthy steps to our room it was horrible! The room was very clean, just old. Outside people were yelling much of the night. There had been better than an 8 for a rating! I just thought I should warn you! I wished someone had warned me!
- 3/5
Room was very small and no one ever came to throw out our trash or make our bed. Even after we set the sign outside the room. There are no elevators so we carried our luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs. Did not get clean towels. I text to request some and was told to pick them up at the front desk. Problem is we got back to our room after they had left for the day. The front desk personnel was friendly
- 4/5
Comfortable and clean. You get what you pay for, but overall good value. I got the cozy full, and it was quite small. Includes AC, TV, small fridge with freezer, coffee maker and utensils. Stayed with my toddler, and the staircase available made it a little difficult to navigate. But overall decent value. Good customer service.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Just had to wait longer than expected for room to be ready. No double rooms to share with friends. Yet an excellent place to stay. Great location & friendly service.
- 5/5
The stay was amazing. Staff was great, room was gorgeous. My only two slight issues was the door for the bathroom slams really loud so when my boyfriend would wake up and use the restroom and would close the door it was extremely loud. We also did have an issue with our mini fridge but it was fixed right away. A staff came in with a new one right away. Overall the stay was amazing. Everything was modern and clean. One of the best hotels I have stayed at.
- 4/5
The outside of the building was not very attractive but the staff were wonderful and the inside of the room was spotless and very comfortable. I like the walkability of the neighborhood. We actually walked all the way to the cruise ship the next day. Good food in the neighborhood.
- 3/5
Boutique hotel recreation from old apartments in downtown Long Beach.
- 5/5
Excelente opción , limpio , tranquilo , los de recepción muy amables , excelente precio . Recomendado al 100%
- 4/5
We stayed two nights and they were pleasant. Very clean and the bed comfortable. The complimentary coffee was very good. The staff was very friendly. One inconvenient: our room was on the third floor and there's no elevator, but I definitely recommend it.
- 5/5
The room was cozy. They take good care of you and have a shareable kitchen if you want to cook meals. The staff is friendly, welcoming, attentive, and just generally great people
- 5/5
Super adorable, fun bike library, close to so many things by walking or biking
- 5/5
Great stay! Bed was extremely comfortable and room was large and quiet. Coffee and water in room or by front desk. Room smelled some of cleaner but we knew things were cleaned. Stored bags on day of arrival before room was ready and they took them to our room. Bathroom is small but I’d rather a comfortable bed first over big bathroom. Staff was very friendly and welcoming! I would stay again for sure. Stairs are a little steep if you have trouble with stairs but no problem for us with small bags.
- 4/5
Nothing at all spectacular had to carry heavy suitcases up two flights of stairs because no elevators
- 2/5
Hard to find, limited parking, lack of elivator to upper floors.
- 4/5
Property is 1000 ft - definitely a studio- people are extremely nice
- 5/5
One of my favorite stays. I would get the king size bed room, I had the full size and I would only get that if I was alone or with a small child. But the king size for two adults is perfect and it’s right across the street from all the best places to adventure. Plus they have karaoke tonight at the bar across the street, very nice environment and safe. They have parking on the street which is pretty easy to find but if you don’t like looking around for parking just by the $25 parking.
- 5/5
Nice room, affordable and quiet.
- 5/5
Great location, service and comfortable room
- 4/5
Had a great time
- 5/5
There is a nice Ling Beach neighborhood architecture tour in the area of the hotel. Fun tour.
- 5/5
Just a great place in a convenient location. Close to everything. Super friendly and helpful staff. I had a really nice stay.
- 5/5
Perfect for the couples who love to walk the downtown streets also within walking distance of everything including nightclubs. Very tiny and inconspicuous so perfect for a getaway! Also just get the parking permit it will make it so much easier because street parking is virtually impossible.
- 5/5
Love this place
- 5/5
The property is old but comfortable and clean. Always a good stay.
- 4/5
Rooms were very nice and clean. The only challenge was the parking. We had to park on the street.
- 4/5
Charming place in a great location. This is an older hotel that has been renovated. We were in a second-floor room; there is no elevator and the stairs were a bit steep, so keep that in mind if you have a lot of luggage. The bathroom is tiny, which is common in a hotel with old bones like this. They made pretty decent use of the space but it’s just super small by modern standards. I would have liked to have had more than three clothes hangers. But overall this is a good stay and a great value.
- 5/5
The location was good and the staff José was amazing. I would come again
- 3/5
El personal amable, la limpieza no muy buena, algo de ruido por las mañanas.
- 4/5
At first, we wondered what we got ourselves into but it was a pleasant surprise! The room was large, clean and delightful. The only con was the steep stairs to get to it with all our luggage.
