Reviews
The Hampton Inn in Michigan has received mixed reviews, with guests praising its convenient location, particularly for those needing to be near the hospital. However, the hotel's condition and cleanliness have been consistently criticized, with multiple guests noting the need for remodeling and better maintenance. The staff's friendliness is appreciated, but their service and the hotel's amenities often fall short of expectations.
- Convenient location, particularly for hospital visits
- Friendly staff
- Hotel condition and cleanliness issues
- Inadequate service and amenities

Breakfast had too many sugar laden selections Cleanliness could have been better. Sink in the room drained very slowly, and i could see hair clog. Had it been more than one night I would have changed rooms.

The everoment so fantastic and service so amezing good There no sistem the customer can pay cash at reception

I was not allowed to check in because my card had been blocked by my bank on my way to Memphis that same day. Room was paid for but staff member wouldn’t let me check in and I as 2 hours from home. I didn’t have another card on me just cash. She would not allow me to stay.

Room was clean. Front desk was helpful
- 3/5
The common areas of the hotel were nice enough, but the room was not cleaned very thoroughly. I could feel dirt under my feet walking barefoot, and I saw a cockroach crawl down one of the elevator shafts.
- 3/5
The room condition was okay. We had a bunch of stink bugscome in our room the second night. The smoke alarm was not properly installed in the ceiling. They are doing remodeling now which was awful due to them working on the room next to ours way to early (7am). Need to be considerate of your guest. The food choices were very limited. Maybe some fresh fruit for people with food allergies. I will say all of the actually staff as in front desk and housekeeping were amazing.

The quality and upkeep of the facility is below standards. No customer wants to see sealed off rooms and blue fanblowers on every floor. Breakfast is underrated. Turkey bacon, Turkey Patty, Turkey Sausage....I can't have Turkey so therefore other than running watery eggs there was no other protein options. Then the waffle maker mix Maple this Cinnamon that...whatever happened to just plain waffle mix?? The oatmeal was watery and undercooked. There should be protein options for EVERY GUEST beside Turkey....

We arrived at night and were told they didn’t have any rooms available after we had a paid reservation already. They provided no help and we had to leave and find a room at night
- 4/5
My bathroom needed vacuuming in floor and the halls and elevator floors were not the cleanest. My room was clean and bedding nice . Front desk staff was nice
- 1/5
Checked in briefly. The room was not very clean and had a bad odor. We soon discovered bed bugs and immediately left. We did notice many rooms that had plastic tarps covering the doors. I can’t believe a hotel can stay open while they are treating for bed bugs!
- 5/5
Property well maintained, pool area was nice and clean,a lot of parking space and parking security was wonderful!!

Great stay!

DID NOT HONOR RESERVATION!
- 4/5
Great for what we needed. Good clean hotel by the Semmes Murphy clinic. Felt safe in the area. Desk clerk was super nice. Room was clean. Bed was fair. Husband grabbed breakfast before we had to be at hospital. All in all it was a good stay and very good for anyone that has to be in area for hospital procedures.
- 3/5
The sleeping area of the room was clean and comfortable, however our bathtub drained very slowly making it uncomfortable to use and the toilet was very loud and slow to flush.
- 4/5
100 dollars deposit pool closed breakfast was awesome nice room had to ask for refrigerator and microwave
- 2/5
Upon arrival nobody was at desk and none appeared for over 10 minutes. Personality was indifferent and it even felt borderline hostile. She did not offer the direction to the elevators and there was no sign on the wall to indicate it was around several corners. The room had mismatched lights on night stands. One night stand had was broken with no drawer. The bathroom was nice on first impression but it corners and sides under the sink counter was filthy and thick dust on the piping. We were there 3 days and 4 nights and was never offered clean towels, toilet paper or emptied the trash. We didn’t expect bed changing or vacuuming of the room, but basic necessities were important. Morning breakfast was typical hotel fare. This hotel is the closest to a major hospital and so the basic Hampton Inn quality seems very important, at least to us.
- 5/5
We picked it because it had easy access to the bike trails we wanted to ride.
- 2/5
Not clean, broken furniture, cockroach in bathroom, pool closed in July, nobody cleaning rooms and unfriendly staff.
- 5/5
Comfortable, clean and convenient
- 3/5
We had a great time but all the money we spent and the swimming pool wasn't open, for the kids. I will not be coming back.
- 3/5
Sleep was comfortable, however there was some room issues. The sink in the bathroom barely drained? Stains underneath the sink that looked like blood, unclean trash can. We chose this location for the pool amenity, however the pool was closed. That was very disappointing. The breakfast was not up to the standard I have experienced in the last at Hamptons, as well as the service. It is best to retrain or look at other Hamptons to help with your service and customer experience. The rooms bathroom ceiling was peeling off and our TV remote did not work for input switches which affected our entertainment. Maybe adding a channel menu in the rooms and switching to remotes that work for your rooms
- 3/5
The pool was green and closed. The area around is not nice. The TV remote did not work and was dirty and sticky. There were no plugs by the beds or nightstands for electronics. The carpet had not been vacuumed.

We were in Memphis for a quick weekend to visit family and go to a few sites. The staff we encountered during our stay were all very helpful and friendly. The pool was out of service, the AC didn’t work well and our room was always humid feeling clammy, our door looked as if someone took a crowbar to the door to get in but it did lock. This was the second room we were given after the sink in our first room didn’t not drain.
- 3/5
Friendly staff. Our rooms were freezing cold. Limited breakfast and the pool we could not use. Not aware there would be additional charge of $100 per key card to be refunded at check out. I was told it could take up to 5 days to be refunded.
- 1/5
The pool is not open, the air is not cold in the rooms, the place is run down as hell and the only nice thing about the place was the lady who ran the breakfast area!
- 2/5
Check in was smooth with nice associate. Room was “damp & musty” and the bathroom had mold all over the ceiling. No control panel for AC. Limited TV due to ongoing upgrade that wasn’t mentioned in description. No frig

Thank you Ladies I'll come back!!

very nice accomodations 👍👍👍👍👍
- 2/5
Disappointed. Expected more from Hampton. We were there for a baseball tourney, for three nights. The ice machine didn't work on our floor, the pool hadn't been opened, we had no refrigerator or microwave, and there were maybe 4 tv channels that worked due to management not updating their cable contract. On a positive note, the room seemed clean and the staff were very nice.
- 5/5
the clean rooms the friendly guest andthe break feast

I was followed from the parking lot into the hotel by a man who wouldn’t stop asking me personal questions. The pool was closed. We brought suits and a booked this hotel because of the location and the pool.
- 2/5
The pool was closed (no notice.) We booked it for the pool. There was a Bobby pin on the floor when I first walked into the room. I was told, when I called that there was a restaurant and bar. There is not. There’s no fridge in the room.
- 1/5
I checked out early due to poor conditions. Room smelled like sewage. Broken elevator. Concave bath tub. Broken elevator. Cold shower. Never received towels and wash cloths. Zarria was nice, but none of the other staff members were helpful.

My stay was perfect!
- 5/5
Was scared after reading some of the reviews but hotel was decent for the price point. Could have been better but no real complaints

There were no rooms clean and ready for us, or anyone else to check in to. Evidently, they had a shortage of housekeepers. The lobby was full of people waiting for their rooms and the ladies at the front desk, just kept telling us that the rooms would be ready shortly. There seemed to be no manager, or anyone in charge that could call another hotel property and either book us a room there, or offer double pay for their housekeepers to help get rooms ready. We even offered to clean our own room. We had to get up at 4 am for a race, and by 10pm still didn't have a room! They seemed to keep stringing us along, for some reason. We finally found another room in another hotel. So, HILTON HAMPTON INN cost us another $150. Also, it is next to impossible to find or get anyone from HOTELS.COM on the phone. I will not be using them or HILTON anymore. It was such an easy fix and it just seemed like the three Stooges were running the hotel that night.

Arrived at the hotel at 3pm for check in and was not able to get a room until 8:30 because the rooms were not cleaned. No staff to clean it, manager was very nasty and unprofessional. Manager kept telling us to sit down and I stepped out to get food upon my return to the hotel everyone after me had received a key and no response but had to wait an additional 2 hours. Hotel garbage was picked up from lobby and no hot water. The tv didn’t work and one of my pillows smelled like the cover was not changed. Overall hotel owner or corporate should check the hotel out. The hotel didn’t even have “Do Not Disturb” sign. Terrible experience
- 5/5
Everything was very good I stressed that those two things that could have been better but other than it all was good thank you so much
- 1/5
The bathroom sink was blocked and had to change the room.
- 3/5
The overall property was fine. The room itself needed a deep clean. Other peoples clothes were in the drawers, there was dirt in all the corners, trash behind the bathroom vanity and inside the roll out bed. The breakfast was fine.
- 1/5
He then asked me if I needed bedding. I said I guess I do. He handed me two sheets, two pillows and a large comforter (see picture). I could barely push buttons on the elevator. I will never stay at a Hampton Inn again. I do not recommend Hampton Inn. I am a Hilton Member and this process was unacceptable. The behavior of this person lacked and compassion in the service industry.

This was the first time I've used Expedia to book anything and it was a mistake. I made the booking around 11am and received the normal confirmation emails from Expedia that my reservation was confirmed. When I arrived at the hotel at around 6, I was told that my booking was "one of the ones that was cancelled". From the clerk I gathered that a large party booked rooms, and then additional rooms were allowed to be booked on top of that. The clerk also explained that because I booked through Expedia they didn't have a phone number for me to notify me that this had happened. I place blame for this on both Expedia and the hotel management. Ensuring you don't book more rooms than you have is one of the most basic and important tasks of a hotel's management, and a failure there is significant both in the tremendous negative effect it has on customers and how simple it is to avoid. I understand that multiple booking platforms complicate this task, but using professional software proficiently is a common and expected task in 2025. Also, the hotel didn't have my phone number, but Expedia certainly had my email address, and it should have been available to hotel management so they could notify me of this mistake before I arrived at the front desk to check in. I chose this hotel for it's convenience to Baptist Hospital to visit a sick family member. This failure complicated that immensely. The clerk himself was professional and helpful, but no recompense was offered by the hotel.

Staff was GREAT!!!

Ishea, was a great receptionist. She decorated the lobby for Valentine’s Day. Breakfast was delicious especially the sausage links. We felt safe, the security was visible at all times, late night and early morning. Conveniently located by the hospital. The manager was also very friendly and caring. I would recommend this hotel. Clean room, lobby, and grounds.

Did not appreciate the fact that we could not access the facility from other than front door despite providing notice of same to staff who appeared to care less, while acknowledging that ADA needs were apparent in our party. In addition cable services as advertised were in fact limited in access. In addition we did not have any housekeeping services for our complete stay of four days and three nights. We’ve traveled extensively for years and this was the worst of the worst accommodations ever paid for. It was as though because we utilized Expedia that we were penalized.

Needed to kill a large spider that walked across our pillows

I've stayed at this location many times over the last few years and unfortunately it has begun to disappoint a lot. The halls smell bad, the third floor has a super sweet artificial pineapple smell in the hall way. The water in the bathroom sink came out with a brown tint (the toilet and shower didn't). For breakfast, they were out of forks, the OJ dispenser is still broken as it has been for months, and there was no milk. This hotel is in a good place for my business trips to Memphis but I don't think I can stay here in the future.

TV channels were not available

water was cold freezing cold. granted they fixed it but the next morning it was back cold again. it seemed as though they did construction. It was so much dirt left in the bathroom
- 3/5
Experience would have been better if room contained microwave and refrigerator as it stated. The bathtub drained slowly even when a solution was poured into it. Staff was polite and accommodating where they were able to.

- 2/5
Only had 10 tv channels available. Black mold on the bathroom ceiling in two of our rooms. Bathroom door in Room 137 was rotten and falling apart.
- 5/5
The staff was nice, friendly, helpful and very courteous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone love the fact it was close to the hospital and easy for me to get in and out because I had a broken leg and I had just had a new grandson. Everyone was awesome

Stay was wonderful, we stayed here for a night and it was great. Speacial thanks to Kesha from the Breakfast section who extended her time to get us some freshly prepared breakfast as we reached few minutes before it closed at 9 AM
- 3/5
Hot water in Shower didn’t work according to my son. Tv not working part of time but they fixed it. No fridge. Otherwise it was fine.
- 5/5
Staff very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
I stayed here on vacation for 4 days and honestly the staff was very understanding and accommodating. Breakfast was great every morning and on time. The cooks were very attentive and helpful if it was a meat choice you preferred instead of what was being served. The pool was nice and clean and beautiful. Fitness area was clean and nice. My room was great and room service was very nice and accommodating as well. Most definitely will be coming back here when I visit Memphis again.

Had a event close by, couldn't have pick the best hotel. Everything was excellent. Pool was wonderful for the kids. Rooms was clean beds was comfortable, breakfast was good. Kids and wife was happy. Thanks Team
- 4/5
The facility is clean and quiet. I did not like the fact I did not see housekeeping and was unable to get the number of towels I needed for my room. The front desk was asking me questions about housekeeping as if I could answer her questions. She should have been contacting housekeeping instead of asking me. The tv stations were very limited. We could not see the local channels. I did not like that at all.
- 1/5
This was probably the worst Hilton brand experience I ever had. I have stayed with Hampton Inn before, not this one, and nothing was as bad as this. The staff is rude and not helpful. The breakfast is a joke, items advertised on flyers are not there. The coffees is stale, no creamer except sugary French vanilla. Alarm clock is broken, TV remote is not working, Channels are scrambled, not available, TV checkout is not working, elevator smells mildew, breakfast is cleared at 9AM even on Sunday, so most people cannot get anything and the list goes on and on and on. Just avoid it!
- 3/5
Location was good for us. Room was very small and tv had about 5 Chanel’s and not even a smart tv. If you wanted to really watch anything you had to pay $20 for on demand.
- 3/5
We had morning sport activities and returned to the hotel around 10am. The first of us got a lukewarm shower, the second shower was cold.
- 2/5
Dirty, hot, horrible humidity and just disgusting
- 5/5
Didnt feel like check in person was happy to be there but check in went smooth. Quiet stay. Unhappy no.local news but understood that was being repaired.
- 3/5
Self parking was great. Breakfast was ok, of course it depends on your choices. Great variety of food. Room was clean and smelled pretty good. Hotel was a bit run down but it looked as good as it could. Great value.

Very convenient for accessing the Baptist hospital!

Everything was good. Just the toilet got clogged, which they must have fixed later. Overall, great stay, perfect cozy rooms with TV and drawer storage. Iron table and Hair dryer is an amazing plus:)

Someone hair was on the bathroom floor. No soap dish. The tv channels was limited, nothing to watch. Noone cane to clean my room.was

The breakfast was great! The maid was not accommodating Ask that our bed linen be changed and she stated it wasn’t on the list and when ask the desk clerk she ensured it would be done ; wasn’t done! Loved the quiet, cozy location!!!
- 2/5
Dirty carpet,no charging ports in the room,no garage can in the bathroom, dirty mirror, no fridge. Hallway carpet Dirty.
- 2/5
My wife is handicapped but the room was not even though they told us it was. No tv other than pay preview since the system was under repair/up dating. Breakfast was the worst we have had in any Hampton Inn ever.
- 3/5
The room didn’t have a fridge or microwave in it the bed was hard and the pool was dirty and the night staff just the lady we had problems with tv and she was getting smart with you
- 1/5
First of all the pictures are not what the room looks like today. Maybe 10-15 years ago. The room smelled like cigarette smoke, the walls were so thing I could hear the TV from the room next door and the toilet was dirty (streaks). I was so bad we left.
- 3/5
Staff was great…
