Q4 Hotel & Hostel

The room were clean but the beds were a little uncomfortable and flat but it was in a continent location.

Pretty clean, liked the ensuite bathroom. Be aware you must bring your own soap and shampoo. Facility was clean but bedroom had a kind of locker room smell. GREAT location and for that price, it was a great deal. Would stay again.

The location is unbeatable. It was so close to the subway station and many Asian eateries. Luggage storage was also available for a fee. The trains are very loud at night and the sink is the size of a shoebox. The bathroom sink is very difficult to use.

The property is located in a prime area with easy access to subway and bus routes. However, there was no shampoo or body wash available in the bathroom.

The staff was pleasant and helpful.

I found it to be a bit noisy, even on the third floor, what with the Queensborough Bridge traffic, the 7 train and the nearby railyard. Fit my needs well enough as a solo traveler. There's a little convenience store around the corner -- handy, but rather high-priced.

Easy access to the subway being one stop away from Manhattan. Short walk to a variety of restaurants. Washroom and shower located in dorm rooms. Comfortable common areas for cooking and eating. Well worth staying here when travelling on a budget!

I was assigned to a room located on the first floor and noisy every where by the lobby and outside of the building. Especially noise from the train/subway platform when subway cars went by. If you can stand with the noise, it might be fit for you. In addition, although the hostel has quiet time from 11pm, roommates came home around 11pm and placed their clothings and stuffs everywhere and making noise until 2am for two nights.

I was a little unsure about what the Q4 was going to be like as I had never stayed in a hotel-hostel combo before. We had a private room and it was just fine. The Q4 is in a great location with plenty of restaurants, shops and subways stops within a few blocks. The room was small and even for two people who pack light, there wasn't much room for our luggage. The bed was nice and firm but I found the pillows to be too puffy and big. The bathroom was very small. They DO NOT provide any shower-hair products so bring your own shampoo, soap, conditioner etc. The Q4 has a common area with couches, games, ping pong, pool and a kitchen. There were a lot of young groups coming through and the hotel was kind of loud. There is not an elevator so you will get your steps in if you are not on the main floor. Overall, if you are looking for an inexpensive option that is close to Manhattan with easy access to the subway, this is a good might be a good choice.

Very accessible to the subway. Close to the itinerary that i have set. Especially to the time square. Noise outside. Very quaint. Very new yorky. Sirens, and the sound of train arriving and leaving. Experience was an ok overall. Kinda expected for the money that i paid.

Everything was so clean and the staff was super nice. My boyfriend and I had the private room and bathroom for 5 nights in early January. I was afraid it would be too cold or hot but there was a thermostat we could adjust ourselves. The subway stations are very close and even in the evening I felt safe walking back to the hotel. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again the next time I’m in NYC.

Its exactly what you pay for in Long Island City. Super loud due to train - yep I knew this when booking, ummm people come in and out all time of the night - knew this too....but cold shower, and small lockers should be fixed. The reviews are fair...but the train is really loud. It's warm and safe....so if you can deal with the rest its good.

Pluses: The price. Excellent value. Good safe location. 12 minute subway ride to Times Square. Courteous and helpful staff. Large convenience store next door. Wall mounted air conditioner in room. Large convenience store next door. Supermarket (pricey, upscale) across the street. Subway very close by. Large common area including big shared kitchen. Semi-private (private to the 4 of us roommates) clean bathroom with shower. Minuses: Noisy trains going by almost constantly on multiple elevated subway tracks. HOWEVER, the noise was somewhat muted. I did not mind it. I brought earplugs, staff offered me earplugs, but I did not wear them. I did not feel the need. I slept just fine. Window does not open. First night it was cold. A/C too strong. HOWEVER, I now think there might be a thermostat on the wall that I failed to notice? (I leave it to the reader to ask.) No bedside shelf or cubby to put toiletries or whatnot. A reading light at head of bed would be nice. No elevator. For this trip, I first tried but failed to find a Manhattan hostel with openings. If that happens again, I will almost certainly stay here again.

I was very disappointed with my stay. The staff were unfriendly and made no effort to offer a welcome. On arrival, I was unexpectedly asked to pay a £50 deposit, which was never mentioned in the advertisement. The room given to us was directly under the railway, making it impossible to sleep as trains kept passing and waking me up throughout the night. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience and not what was advertised.

I forgot my headphone at room and when I was back home I called them about my headphone and reception avoid took responsibility to asking and just keep saying or ask housekeeping.

I was somewhat disappointed with the experience of my stay, because I encountered a roach in the bathroom. It's faith was not a pleasant one. The constant roaring sound of trains were not a desired feature of a stay to be considered a repeat option.

Where is hostel that I ever stayed at? The staff was very rude and uneducated. The rooms are very small. No storage room no table to put your items on. You had to put your items on the floor. The shower in the bathroom was very very small. the staff was very disrespectful. They always overcharge you to store your bag $7 dollars plus $25 if you going to have it there overnight. and the women they pair me with in a six female Dome was very nasty and rude. I had an early flight and I cut the lights on for a second and it was very nasty to me.

The Q4 is in a convenient location that is accessible to public transportation. The staff is pleasant, but Q4 would be a more enjoyable location if it served or sold coffee throughout the day.

This is a HOSTEL for solo/young traveler. Cleaning is below average, rooms are tiny and very worn out. Multiple subway lines pass 24h right in front of this property which is imposible to sleep. I wont come back to this place!

Stayed for four days and it was quite enjoyable. Its location is very convenient for subways and local resturants. The train might be bothersome for some, but im used to this back at home so it didnt effect me at all. Staff was nice and helpful. Downstairs hangout and kitchen area was clean and cozy too. Will definitely stay here again in the future!

Stayed here because the price was right and near where I needed to be. I can be loud in the room with noise from outside the building, but with ear plugs I slept well. I was able to step out the door and walk into the city to in 40 minutes, or take the subway and be there faster.

Although I only stayed one night, the hotel staff was accommodating and willing to take care of my luggage before check-in time while I went to an event. Rooms were clean and quiet. Thank you!

It's very close MTA, so that has significant noise 24 hrs. The bathroom door is every heavy. The others are almost same as other hotel.

Access to subway

Waited nearly 1/2 hr in line to check in. Only one person was doing checkins though there were two behind the desk. Got to the room and the window shade wouldn’t stay down. Also the AC was broken, and the room was very hot/humid due to all the showers.

바로 옆에 24시간 편의점 있고(한국컵라면이랑 조각과일 팖) 전철 역과도 가까워서 좋아요. 시설은 여느 호스텔과 크게 다를 바 없어요. 수건 큰 거 무료로 주셔서 좋았어요.

The subway noise is a low rumble, but didn’t really disturb me. Having a store next door with hot food is very handy.

I was limited on my options seeing as most of the city was soldout or just overpriced. This was a great option that saved me a ton of money. It's also in a great area too. Staff was great and I enjoyed the stay!

Super clean, friendly staffs 24/7, very close to public transport and safe to walk even late night around 1-2pm. Only thing is, room had sweaty smell a bit suffocating. But given the other factors, i'll happily stay again

The hostel rooms are so small, and the beds are bunks. The location isn’t particularly convenient either. The biggest problem is that the bathrooms are in the rooms, but the sinks are in a separate area from the toilet, so if you’re using the bathroom after the lights have been turned off you have to grope around in the dark to find where the soap is because you can’t turn on the light to see. The HI hostel on the Upper West Side and the NY Moore Hostel in Brooklyn in Bushwick are both way better.

Just that unless you want to hear police sirens and the train all night you might wanna book somewhere else.

I didn't blame the gentleman that the reception desk it's not his policy but I was frustrated and desperate to find a place I asked him if I can plug my phone into the outlet in the lobby cuz it was dying and I needed to get online to find a hotel for the night. He told me I could not. I asked again please just for 5 minutes. He refused with no explanation of there than his shift was ending soon. Decent people just don't act that way. I walked away shaking my head dumbfounded.

Basic, and basically all you need to get a good nights sleep. Rooms with windows out the front will have the sweet clanking song of metro trains screeching around the corners to keep them company at night, so if you’re a light sleeper, request back of house. Bring a lock for the lockers if you like to lock things away. Decent kitchen. Restaurants in the area aren’t great, but it’s easy to get where you’re goin with the metro just across the street!

The receptionist at the hotel was not there. We were calling out and desperately screaming and he did not arrive until 25-30 mins later. Other guests also tried to help us but did not work. Incredibly unprofessional and then he got mad at us. Horrible.

The location is very good and safe with 10 mins walk to subway station. No elevator! I had 2 suitcases and the friendly front desk young man offered to take them up stairs to the 3 rd floor! The room is not big but comfy with individual bath. I booked the private room. There are other shared rooms with shared bathrooms I guess. The hostels is very clean and the kitchen/ living room in the basement is very spacious with many sofa/ table and chairs to sit. Walking to restaurants.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Property was well maintained.

The worker was very nice, the place is safe and the hostel was good. The only thing that I didn’t like was the bathroom because it wasn’t very clean.

Q4 Hotel and Hostel is a remarkable NYC gem. Its quiet vibe is perfect for digital nomads who simply like to work around others and still have privacy. The atmosphere is artistic and authentic. The amenities include clean bathrooms, hot showers, a great common area and kitchen, complete dishes, and great staff. Friendly and dependable in two words. They have several refrigerators so there is ample space to store your groceries from the Good Vibes grocery store or Hudson Food Market. They even have a meditation room which could double as a potluck space. It has beautiful cushions and pillows. To cap it all off this place is a renovated bank. The reception desk opens to a giant safe surrounded by recommissioned safety deposit boxes. This is a brilliant and affordable stay for those who appreciate the bold and the quiet. Bold art, bold service, cleanliness, and remarkably quiet experience considering how close we are to the subway. If I were a spider, say Anansi, with thumbs, all 8 would be up.

No elevator and some other customers were psycho opening and banging the door all during the night. I had sleeping pills and gotta have it every time banging bcoz waking me up putting me dizzy all day. Next to subways and pricy supermarket. The restroom has no soap supplies when I was there. I like the leisure room and kitchen. Mattress are very good and comfortable.

Lockers were a medium size. Well placed electrical outlets. Staff were polite. Accessibility was a bit awkward. There is a ramp into the building, but there does not appear to be an elevator between the basement that has the kitchen and additional bathrooms, and the ground and second floors. Basement bathrooms did not have soap or hand sanitizer for some reason??? This year (I stayed here two years ago) they had a fridge for food, but no designated spot for non refrigerated food and all my food disappeared on my second to last day despite being labeled. This place is about a two to five minute walk from the subway. There's a Starbucks about five minutes walk away, and a 24/7 bodega right next door. Be aware that it takes about half an hour to travel to Times Square using public transportation.
