It was first time for us stay this hotel. Bed was comfortable ! Breakfast was ok not much hot food. Orange juice tasted bad. But other than that. It’s wonderful place to stay and easy to go to beach !

This place requires a deposit, which they take immediately but don’t expect it back for at least two weeks & if you ask about it you will get hung up on!!! Rude !! Rude !!! Rude!!! Stay at your own risk.

Had a great stay. AC worked which was good due to how humid it was outside. Room was clean, easy check-in process. Staff is professional and polite.

Stated they were queen beds seemed more like full size beds. Other than that everything was great.

The temperature in our room is set at 59°. When we got there so we turned it to a normal temperature but the floor was so cold. It condensated and was wet the entire stay. Luckily we brought towels and we're able to use them so we didn't have to walk on a wet floor.

It was great there was loud kids and they told them not to be loud. Also this is an older hotel but clean. They cleaned the room before we came and it smelled great. Great place to stay on the beach! I would stay there again.

The staff was not helpful at all. I have 2 small pets and had been trying to get a hold of the property for one week with no luck in regard to pet charges. When I arrive to check in I was told that the pet charge was 50.00 per pet and at that point I had no choice but to pay the 100.00. Outside my room it was very noisy with people running down the walkway and the curtains did not close all the way so there was light passing into the room. Very unhappy and won’t stay there again and will pass on to family and friends.

This is a budget friendly Motel (doors are on the exterior) on the main road (Hwy 361) as you come into town. The property had a good rate for early summer on Expedia for a Sunday and Monday night. We stayed in a 2 queen room June 2026. Room was very clean and had plenty of space for two adults, everything worked well. Very good lighting, plenty of plugs for charging etc. Beds are firm, but comfortable. Bedding was very clean, fresh and seemed new. Shower had good pressure and was very clean. Plenty of towels. We checked out the pool area. It's a good sized pool for the size of the hotel, in great shape with tables and restrooms. One nice surprise is they have a free pool table and ping pong table in the breakfast area. One important amenity they advertise is a free breakfast. This is the one thing I would ask they put a lot more effort into. On my stay it was really lacking in appeal. They had some bagels and bread, waffle maker, oranges and apples, some very small yogurt packs and waffles, and cereal. The fridge with the yogurt and milk didn't seem cold enough to be storing those items. Coffee and Juice machine was okay but bare minimum. Breakfast (free or not) is an important part of the day and if you're going to offer it, you should put forth the effort to make it something guests will want to come back to. Thanks!

The other party that was suppose to stay here had issues, apparently your room has to be paid by 6am on arrival day and they were not made aware of that, nor was it on the email they received so heads up on that. Their room was given away. I feel like they should have attempted to call first before just given it away first. Luckily they did find another room elsewhere on a holiday weekend.

We were right next to the laundry and it vibrated through the walls when in use Not that it was the hotel‘s fault, but I believe the upstairs room above us had a large animal/human stomping around at night Bed was a brick Air conditioner leaked into the room the first night leaving puddles

The rooms are clean … they are very clean conscious… the staff is very friendly kind hearted and truly want you to enjoy your stay .., if you have any concerns they will remedy with out hesitation .. there is a continental breakfast available and coffee in your room … good value for the dollar .. the beach is just down the street and you can drive onto the beach .. fresh water showers available to rinse off .. a very good value for the dollar and there are a lot of choices to eat dinner close by .. very accessible has a clean pool with table and chairs available and very reasonably priced .. they earn their respect and they do a good job serving you … I absolutely recommend them granted it’s not the Taj Mahal but it doesn’t have to be .. the beds are comfortable and clean That’s a tough question because I can’t think of anything to criticize… it’s clean and it affordable and it’s close enough to the beach so you don’t have to spend a fortune … you will appreciate their effort so honestly I can’t say anything that I didn’t like

They charge my card more than once. They had terrible customer service and the rooms were not clean.

Great location. The hotel itself is amazing. Very clean and roomy. My husband and I stayed here for 4 days. The first 3 days were amazing. No issues. The last night the guests kept us up with their noise until 3am I called the hotel lobby a couple of times. And they did address the issue. However the noise continued.

The pillows are thin and flat but that's solved by bringing your own pillows

Rashmi at the front desk greeted me with such kindness and respect. She made sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay on the island. Her hospitality reassured what I knew, this was a great hotel! Our room was perfectly clean and well organized upon our arrival. The best part was the pool area in the evening, as the sun sets, just relaxing after a long day on the beach made this location top tier. We will be back soon and recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay Port A.

This place wanted to charge $35 to check in early. Once I got there, the layout of the room was absolutely ridiculous. You walk in the door and you are directly at the bed. The bed was not even 1 foot away from the door. There was just enough room to open the door.

This is an inexpensive motel. It should be compared with inexpensive motels. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean. The sheets on the beds appeared to be clean. That right there is a pretty good start. The beds were comfortable. Pillows left something to be desired, but did I mention this is an inexpensive motel? The A/C worked and was not especially loud. That's about all I really care about and so it gets 4 stars because it is good value for money. The breakfast was weak - no protein options at all - but if you're choosing a hotel for the quality of its breakfast then you're probably paying more anyway.

I wouldn’t recommend this place since this hotel is very loud, couldn’t sleep in since everyone is loud at the pool. Also the AC kept turning off and me waking up hot. I had to get up 4 times to turn it back on. I also had to turn on the humidifier since that kept turning off too. They charge 100$ deposit and still haven’t got refunded on it and it’s day 2. They let people play loud music there and seem to not care about the guests at all. They charged me 3 different charges one for room, one for deposit and another for early check in at 3:45 when check in at 4pm. They say the system charges you but I don’t believe that since she charged my card 3 times. Never experienced any hotel like this! The door didn’t open either, had to come back in office and get them to fix it. Read reviews I should’ve listened and found another hotel. Never again. I’ll call tomorrow about my deposit back.

Safety is an issue when loud music and obnoxious behavior is going on after midnight and noone is trying to do something of it.

The hotel is a 2.5 star, and the facilities are on that level. Given that, I had no complaints. The staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was cuter and more fun than in some four star hotels I've stayed in with its nice patio and grill.

Initally was given a key card for a room that was already occupied, but after going back to the front office we were issued another on the opposite side of the building. The lady at the front desk was friendly, and very apologetic. Wi-fi was great, rooms were clean and new towels given daily. To cold for the pool, we didnt play pool or ping pong but it seemed to be a fun friendly environment.

This motel is close to everything. Just a 1/2 mile to the beach and a short drive to shopping and restaurants. Our room was spacious, clean and the staff was really friendly. Would've been a full 10 if there were some high-protein choices at the included breakfast, like hard boiled eggs.

What a lovely stay! We booked two rooms for our family of six and stayed 4 nights. Staff were attentive and accommodating, rooms were simple but clean, and the beds were comfortable. You could tell the owner takes pride in the establishment - several upgrades were happening around the hotel. Super close drive to the beach, like 3 minutes. Our kids had a great time and we will gladly make this our hotel of choice when we return.

When I make my reservation(3 months ago) I put that I needed a room on the first floor, and then when I got there they said if I stay on the first floor I needed to pay extra, I explain for the girl that I ask for on the time of the reservation and I told her that me and my husband can’t go on the stairs, my husband and I are disable ,my car even have a disable license plate, but she said no, so I paid extra to have the room on the first floor, I never heard about the diference of room for the first and second floor, last November we went there and I ask for the first floor and when we get there we have the room at the first floor….so I am really confused and disappointed! But we needed to stay there, but for sure was for the last time .

The room appeared clean at first glance, but there was hair left in the tub, drain, on the towel, in the bed, and in the sheets. The floors felt damp. There was a sign saying a dehumidifier was in the room and we would be charged $300 of it was missing upon checkout, but our room did not have one. The AC unit would not work properly. I kept trying to lower the temperature and raise the fan speed but the buttons didn’t work more than half the time and the ac would just change back to the previous setting on its own. The was also a weird whiteish stain/spot on the sheets of one of the beds. I’m sure it’s a generally nice place, but it wasn’t a good experience for us. My truck was also hit in the middle of the night while parked in front of the front office, but their cameras were pointed at the ground and I was told there was no footage available.

The staff was very helpful and made checking in a breeze. Great stay, the beds are a bit hard but did the job. Breakfast was good, they had a variety to choose from.

The overall experience was less than desirable. Over powering smell of Clorox when we opened our room door that we felt nauseous. Furniture looked like it came from the trash pile, mold around the ceiling light fixture, hair in the bath tub and hair on the fresh towels. Disgusting! The pet area probably wasn’t mowed in at least 3 months, infestation of mosaics is a health hazard for Lyme disease, the container for the pet feces was packed full and also bags lying on the ground, another health issue for humans and pets. Asked for a refund to move to a different motel for the rest of our stay and was denied by the maintenance man who was all up in my business and never introduced himself to me which was very unprofessional and disrespectful. The manager told other guests from a different room they could sit and smoke in front of our motel room door. Who does this? I am sure there are code violation at that motel.

Pet-friendly, staff were friendly. Room was decently clean. The microwave in the common area for breakfast was dirty and in need of a cleaning.

There were some insects in our room crawling around near the bathroom area . And I wish there was some eggs or more protein in the breakfast set up . Yogurt, hard boiled eggs would go along way to help us gey a solid meal before leaving . It was high in carbs and sugar . That’s all the staff was pleasant and beds comfortable thank you we will stay again

Stayed in all the levels of rooms. I find the suite to be the best choice for me and my friends. Like the deck and the doors open to give it a nice feel. Bathroom is huge. Will book again.

Stayed at this location this past weekend. T.V screen was blue the entire weekend, we couldn’t fix it in setting. The head board was dirty it could have been wiped down. The towels were folded and appeared clean but when we opened them to use them, they were dirty and stained. Not the stay I was expecting.

My name is Steve Beardsall and I have stayed at Island Hotel in the past and always enjoyed stay and have even recommended hotel many times. This stay I was unsatisfied with the upkeep of hotel. I told Tracy at front desk on Tuesday refrigerator was not working right and only had hot water in shower. They NEVER came to fix things. Had to throw away all my food and showered sparingly so as not to get burnt. Also, the smoke detector wasn't working and then fell from ceiling almost hitting my wife. I will be posting my view on facebook so that others don'tmake the same mistake we did and stay at this hotel.

Wish the rooms were cleaner and cockroach free. Staff were welcoming but shouldn’t say people’s room number aloud for privacy and safety reasons. Overall it’s an okay place to just freshen up and rest your head. The surrounding area is full of things to do.

Stayed in suite B. Highway noise was bad- had to buy a fan to block out noise at night. AC struggled to keep up with heat. The pet area was full of stickerburs 🙁.

The staff were all very friendly and our room was basic but very clean. The sidewalks and some outside areas could use some cleaning and maintenance. The bed was too firm, I woke up stiff. Overall, not a bad place for a beach getaway, but a bit overpriced for what it is. A nicer name brand hotel nearby was about the same per night.

Stayed in Port A for 4 days with my husband, and just wanted a clean comfy place to shower and sleep. This place met all my expectations, had great front desk service, and was quiet. Will definitely stay again.

Great place and location. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is a few minutes from the center of the town but for us that’s perfect. It’s nice to have a nice quiet place at the end of a full beach day.

Arguing and loud neighbors.

Tub stopper was broken and I like to be able soak so that was a point deduction for me. Breakfast was included and has typical dry cereals, toasts, bagels, yogurt, juice, and waffles that you make yourself. The toaster didn’t work and only one waffle maker was working so if you’re ok with waiting 30-40 minutes to make waffles then you would have hot waffles.

Upon arrival, room was unsanitary and nasty. The bedding on both beds were stained, as was majority of the towels, and the shower curtain. BUG INFESTED. Hotel does not have routine housekeeping. If you want your room cleaned, you must request it only from 10AM-2PM, but even then there is a list. If the list is full for the day, you will not be serviced. Since bedding was disgusting, asked for new bedding and it was eventually replaced as was the towels to only be replaced with MORE DIRTY sheets and towels. It is as if they don’t believe in doing laundry. The shower was clogged, took approximately ten minutes for the water in the shower to completely drain after each shower. Don’t recommend. No matter what, do not waste your time, money, or breath staying here. Wish I could give 0 stars.

Watch your bank cards we got charged for towels that were in the room because we cleaned up a spill. We requested room service but they never came. The room was not clean and poor bfast options.

Breakfast, well could’ve been better, by the time we got to eat either it already been picked over or just non existent, we were left with either Waffles, cereal or maybe a bagel. They would not let you check in early. If a room was available, they would charge a $50 early check in fee. Check in is at 4pm, we arrived around 10am and asked to be contacted when our room was ready. Got a call around 2pm that the room was ready, but if we attempted to check in before 3:30pm we would have to pay an early check in fee of $50. It seemed ridiculous. Maybe if we asked to have the room ready ASAP my maid service, then I could understand the fee. But a ready and unoccupied room…..

Hotel is somewhat old but overall accommodating. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made sure we had all that was needed for our stay. We spent most of our time at the beach and not at the Hotel. We did not try the breakfast since we went elsewhere to eat. Overall, had a good experience.

This hotel has changed since 2021, which was the last time we stayed there. The entire grounds are unkept, the ac units run very badly, towels smell unwashed, and there was hair everywhere. This will be the 5th time we’ve stayed at this hotel and this time will be the last. Not sure what happened to the original owners but we were very saddened on how bad it’s become.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It’s an older property but kept up with. Rooms were clean and the AC worked great!! Pool was well maintained and the kids used it daily. Property is conveniently located to the beach and various locations within Port Aransas. Only downside, parking lot is not boat friendly.

We had issues from the moment we arrived. The key card didn't work. Called the office, they said we needed to go down and have the key cards reprogrammed. My husband went down, came back, it still didn't work. We called again, were told the lock probably needed a new battery. We had planned on resting from our 3 hour drive, then getting in the pool. We didn't end up making it to the pool until after 8pm because we had to wait for them to come change the battery. Tested the card, it worked. Coming back from the pool, we're stuck outside our room at 10 o'clock at night because the key card again doesn't work. We called the office AGAIN, they say they'll have to replace the whole lock. We were up until after 12:30 am with our room door open and the maintenance guy trying to get the lock replaced. This morning, Saturday as we're leaving to go to the beach, my husband closes the door and the door handle comes off in his hand. He sticks it back on and we called AGAIN. We're told they will send someone to fix it. I called in the evening to check the status and I'm told they fixed the handle but the card is still not 100% working. They tell me once we get back from the beach, stop by the office for new key cards and so the maintenance man can meet us and show us " the trick" to getting into our room. There shouldn't need to be a "trick"! We got ZERO empathy from management.

Staff nice and helpful. Would help if they had black out curtains hard to sleep with lights lighting up room all night. Heard no noise it was quite. Would stay again.

The check-in process wasn't great. Only one of the computers was working, so even though there were two employees, only one was on the computer and she had a language barrier that made it difficult for several guests ahead of me in line. The breakfast was limited when we got there about 8:45...waffles, 2 bagels, no fruit, no yogurt, no protein. The room smelled strongly of bleach when we got there, which I don't hate knowing it was clean, but it was heavy. The neighbors stayed out on the breezeway loudly drinking and hanging out until midnight. It was very no-frills, but the price was right for such an impromptu trip.

Last minute weekend getaway and everything was booked except for this motel, not hotel. Finding a courteous employee is hit or miss, we had rude and pleasant experiences. There was a mix of sketchy and decent guests. The door to our room had what it looked to be fist dents, broken safety latch, large crack in the door jamb, punched in door stop, dirty floors, tv that didn’t work. Not very well maintained and masked with some paint. The door had to be forced open and closed. Stained bedding that had what looked to be remnants of bed bugs and blood stains. The fact that these things were not addressed by whomever cleaned the room makes me wonder what else they chose to overlook. We had to ask for towels as the maid hadn’t come by 4 pm when we returned from our daytime activities. We didn’t sleep well as there was a smoke detector beeping all night and people would walk by our door hitting it in the middle of the night. I couldn’t wait to leave.

If you’re under 21 this hotel is so nice!! There’s a 100$ dollar deposit you get back whenever you check out, but the staff is so nice and it’s only a short drive or walk to the beach. Overall 10/10, wonderful experience.

The wall AC unit kept going off so.It' got hot a few times in the middle of the night

We have to changed rooms, and I left an envelope with money. Sam returned it to me with a smile! He is a Super Awesome Man! Whatever problem we had, was fixed, right away. The property is old, but is super clean!

Very dirty… stained sheets- paw prints all over the bed. We didn’t bring our dogs. . Tobacco pouches stuck to the ceiling. Floors have never been cleaned. Trashy pool.

Have stayed twice now. But ladt visit room smelt like mold. Didn't see it but smelt it. Other than than everything was exceptional 👌
