Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its convenient location, beautiful river views, and friendly staff. However, some guests have complained about noise, cleanliness issues, and the need for updates in certain areas.

- Cleanliness issues in some rooms and common areas

The balcony view Small hot tube always full.

It’s a decent value for Portland - having larger rooms than many hotels. But the finishes are dated and the carpets have seen better days. Still, for a larger room that is pet friendly, at a decent price for Portland, we will return when attending events at the Expo Center. It’s a little dated and a long walk from the rooms to the dining area.
- 3/5
Great waterfront views and bar inside for a late nightcap. Room was a great size for two adults. On the down side, sewer smell was coming in from the toilet. Also, upon arrival entering our tower, both the entry and elevator smelled like Parmesan cheese. Vending machines are not stocked. Went to 3 floors to look for water or soda and all were out of stock, so pick up water before checking in.

The front desk guy was very unpleasant! Not only did he not greet me but was very nice to everyone else. I came from Texas to Portland for my college graduation! I didn't have my card n he refuse to take tap! As a traveler I didn't know! I feel a one time accommodation could have been done! I had a hand full of stuff and exhausted from a long day!

Good breakfast
- 5/5
We had a premium river view king room! It had a gorgeous view! The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. The grounds are well maintained. Even though it was windy and only about 60 degrees F there were people in the pool!
- 4.5/5
Staff is the best! All so nice and helpful. Comfy beds and great breakfast. Especially Eggs Benadict.
- 0.5/5
Location No heat! Front desk was rude about it when checking out.

- 5/5
Large room with a great view. Staff was very friendly and the location was in a great spot that was just a few miles from downtown and right next to the bridge taking you to Vancouver, Washington.
- 2/5
Also the room was filthy when we got there. The bathroom hadnt been touched. Hair still in the tub and pubic hair on the toilet. It would not be my first choice again. If you gonna spend 100+ a night, stay the Marriott or Hilton brand. These kind of mistakes don’t happen there.
- 4.5/5
No breakfast offered

What I didn’t like was a soon we checking in the room was dirty also was a lot spired web inside the room, was hair in the tub also in the bathroom sink as well the ac doesn’t work just in the living room but the room was hot

That said, the exterior of the hotel could definitely use some cleaning and upkeep. Our balcony had a side river view, but it was very dusty and covered in cobwebs. On the second night, the fire alarm also went off randomly for a few minutes, which was a bit unsettling. It’s clear the hotel is currently going through renovations, so I’d love to come back in the future once the remodel is complete because I can definitely see the potential. I also loved how easy it was to access the city/downtown.
- 4/5
Room are clean, staff are nice. Good to see security drive around the property keep an eye out for thing. Plenty of parking lot. Nice and quiet area. This is my second time back. 25 minutes drive to downtown. Near by have Target, Ross, TJ Max, Starbucks, panera, taco bell and etc. Nice view. Will be back again.

Amazing staff and support for our needs. We have stayed multiple times. Servers are friendly, food is top notch and cleaning staff does a great job. This place is a hidden gem!

Hotel rooms smelled musty, like cigarettes and dog. Ants were all over the place. Very loud and busy area.

Staff was very rude no matter what we asked.

No suggestions
- 5/5
Clean room, nice scenery, pleasant staff
- 2/5
Room had sticky floors, coffee pot a layer of dust, could hear the ppl in the next room. Front counter staff just plain rude.
- 3/5
The room was clean, staff was really good, but location wasn't as expected. For the price there should have been more things in the suite. Too many cupboards and nothing inside it. No cups nothing.

I was there in March hoping for a nice experience as this hotel has been a lovely place in the past. First the power went out for a day. No hot water, no anything that included power. No offer for a credit or refund for the wasted day. Housekeeping was abysmal. I had no service at all that I could tell for 3 of my 5 nights the hotel. I paid extra for a view room which was also a corner unit that was great. BUT…Cobwebs all over the ceilings even in the bathroom. Drapes were in sad condition with stains here and there. The back of the TV had never been dusted as far as I could tell which was gross since you had to pull it away from the wall to see it from sitting in bed. And there is no nice restaurant there anymore. There is a cafe/bar in the lobby but nothing special. It was March and rainy so I did not go out by the pool but looking out the window there are wooden structures like storage buildings that look like they are falling down. Maybe it is nicer in the summer. The dock on the river looks like it always has and is in good condition. I feel like this: either tear it all down and start over (it is old I realize) or renovate into something wonderful to stay at like it used to be.
- 2/5
Area was in poor condition, storage of construction components, blocked off entrance to parking lot.l. high risk of property crime, poor lighting, room was suppoto have a view but did not, elevators in bad shape and extra slow.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful and the restaurant good.
- 5/5
Front desk was flexible with my late night check in and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was everything I needed it to be. Thank you Fadyia for being kind and understanding. Always enjoy staying here because of the great service and reasonable rates.
- 5/5
Pool was not open for the season, but the pool area looked appealing.
- 4/5
It was clean, the staff were very friendly.
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful! Helpful and very attentive. The room service is also quick. The bed was very comfy and the river view great. Is definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Rooms were huge!
- 5/5
All the staff from the front desk to housekeeping and the restaurant were awesome. The riverview from our room was lovely.
- 5/5
No free available coffee for guests.
- 5/5
The beds were comfy, the food was tasty and it is located close enough to the freeway to be convenient but little road noise’
- 4/5
Very kind staff upon check in. The room was beautiful. The tv unfortunately didn’t work, which made falling asleep a little hard with the loud highway. But the room was beautiful, beautiful view, thank you, I will come back! Next time I’ll ask to get my tv fixed, we just had our dog with us this time or I would have asked for help with it.
- 1/5
My room was affected, I was out for work and nobody notified me at all, I realized that significant part of the hotel was closed and "all" people were relocated in a different rooms until the next day morning when i ask about the internet and complain about the terrible smell!! On top of that, Teresa which is the front desk manager scolded me for not being at the front desk asking what happened the night before, I spent the entire night smelling this toxic air, nobody even message me even when they realized my belongings still at my room which allegedly they went to see if someone was there! Not even an apology I received from anyone in that hotel. Terrible customer service!!
- 5/5
Big parking lot for trucks with trailer and pet friendly
- 5/5
I really enjoy stay at this hotel, the rooms are clean, it’s affordable, the sites amenities make your stay convenient and comfortable so you don’t even need to leave the property.
- 5/5
Very big hotel. Great friendly staff! Super clean great environment. Took my kiddos ans had a blast
- 4/5
Clean room, outside view and staff.
- 3/5
Cleaning service never came by for 4 days. When they did the day before we checked out - they were asked to come back in 30 minutes as we were leaving for the day. They never showed up again.
- 5/5
Room was clean.
- 4/5
Nice
- 4/5
Everyone was great. Bed was not comfortable, felt like the head was lower than the foot, beds need rotated. Restaurant was out of a couple things but it was a busy holiday weekend so not completely upsetting. Overall we had a nice stay.
- 5/5
Great staff, beautiful view clean and good food
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival. The family suite is extremely spacious and had a nice view. The staff also were glad to bring extra bedding for the sofa bed directly to our room.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Staff was so nice! Rooms are big. Food was delicious.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Rooms were very clean. Building was right off the bridge and close to many locations. Staff was friendly and extremely accommodating with animals. 10/10 experience.
- 5/5
Enjoyable hot spa and delicious food and hospitality.
- 5/5
Staff here is amazing. Despite being an older property we continue to return as rooms as spacious and very scenic. Lala at checking was professional and well informed when we asked questions about places in the area. Had a problem with our key card and Charlie assisted in fixing that problem
- 5/5
Everything was great at this location. Definitely coming back.
- 5/5
everything great
- 5/5
Overall great experience, forever staff nice hot tub
- 5/5
Clean rooms , convenient location , free parking . Gated parking
- 5/5
Breakfast menu was ok, you need to know though the specific times the kitchen closes for breakfast on certain days of the week. The menu was good, variety too.
- 4/5
Yeah. But the tv was old and did not have any smart tv. Some of the staff were not talkative or helpful
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Great location. Easy & free parking. Quiet area. Ive stayed here 6 ish times. The last 4 being with my dog.
- 5/5
Everything was clean, bright and comfortable in the room and lobby. Thanks! :)
- 4/5
Staff was amazing, location was good but a little gritty, the facilities were dated. Rooms need to be upgraded

I had a great stay at the Holiday Inn in Portland! The staff were so lovely and accommodating, the place was really clean, and the location was perfect.
- 5/5
I attended a meeting and it was great.
- 5/5
Spacious room, nice view from balcony and comfy bed and pillows
- 5/5
The room was clean. Beds were comfortable. The entire room was comfortable. It was hard to say goodbye.
- 4/5
The Connor room very noise
- 5/5
We stayed for 1 night. The staff was friendly and the check in and check out process was very quick and easy. Great location near the river.
- 4/5
2. Views of Columbia River: excellent on 4th floor East most room is excellent. Lights of Vancouver waterfront and ferry boat. Can see from I-5 to I-205. 3. Accessibility challenges: Hotel built before accessibility guidelines common. Interior route to central grassy plaza with pool and hotub via stairs from Main lobby floor (2) via stairs. No signage for handicap route (back to main desk and adjacent elevator?)
- 5/5
I was so impressed with the hotel food, by far some of the best I’ve had at a conference before. Serving over 300 buffet style is hard, making it taste good is almost impossible at that volume. Your chef and kitchen team have accomplished both! Amazing! Hats off!
- 5/5
Great location, fun atmosphere and friendly staff. I will return.
- 2/5
My coffee maker didn't work, there was no soap in the shower. The bed was comfy.
- 2/5
I wasvery disappointed that we could not use the hot tub because it was past 9pm.i am an adult just like everyone else that checks in so i dont understand the rule
- 2/5
Even though it’s older it shows well. The issues should be rectified before guest notice is all I would suggest…especially if they are aware of them
- 2/5
This hotel didn’t serve breakfast and hotel lobby was smelling bad
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
Very pet friendly…..loved our stay here
- 5/5
Great staff! We had a riverfront room and loved to be able to get out and walk along the River each morning! Breakfast at this hotel was amazing! Our waiter, Douglas, was outstanding! He was personable and attentive! Thank you Douglas! Tamela was also great! We would recommend staying here! The hotel is convenient to jump on the highways to drive to the coast, Mt. Hood and the waterfalls and Mt St Helens!
- 5/5
very friendly and helpful at check in
- 5/5
Anne was our server for two breakfasts and she was the sweetest. Always attentive to us. Food was delicious. Front desk staff were very nice and helpful as well! Room was comfortable!
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful
- 5/5
.
- 4/5
Was perfect for my needs. Just there overnight for a work conference. Easy to find.
- 3/5
The room was dirty, with black mold on the wall. The air vent was filthy, and the AC and heater weren’t working—we had to call downstairs for an engineer. We booked a corner room for the view, but the windows were dirty too, which was very disappointing. On the positive side, the property has a large parking area with a Tesla charger and is in a good location.
- 5/5
Location was right off the freeway, close to shopping. Staff was incredibly kind and thoughtful
- 2/5
The river view was beautiful. The window was greasy on the inside. Spider infested room and halls. I took pics and we left with bites. No room Service. Halls stink like must. Poor customer service. We had to dig for proof of breakfast included, pretty humiliating. Also the floor to the balcony was unstable. Security flashed lights in our faces, then said not to be alarmed. Will not return.

Stayed at this property for 2 evenings. Staff at the front desk and in the dining area were friendly with great service. Good variety of breakfast and dinner options. The hotel is older but there has been plenty of reno to property. Particularly the lobby, dining area and rooms. Overall the rooms were clean but I did find a false eyelash cluster in my bed and long black hair in the shower ( I’m a black woman with short blonde hair. This was fine straight black hair) . Both came after room turnover so I was concerned on what had during cleaning. Otherwise the overall experience was good. Located near shopping and plenty dining if you’d prefer to venture outside the hotel.
- 5/5
i like the ambiance and the surroundings are very nice and also to the staff they are very accomodating
- 5/5
I really like having two sinks!
- 4/5
Idid not like the fees aded for room and food .It was disappointing issue forexsmple me and son rewuested judt two burger sandwidhes to swimming pool from the restaurant andmenue shows that 2 for 36$ and after they brought them to us we checked that they added many feez and tips and charged me 53 $ so like I paid for 3 sandwishes.
- 3/5
The room was soundproofed which was helpful but we could still hear the planes and traffic. Going for a walk after dinner , the grounds arent as kept up for charging $250 a night. Tired bushes and no bark. We would not stay again.
- 3/5
The check-in experience was welcoming, and the location is great with beautiful views of the Columbia River and a lovely walkway. The front desk staff were excellent, but restaurant service was lacking. Unfortunately, the room had an unpleasant smell, and the balcony and windows were covered in spiderwebs and bugs, making it hard to enjoy the view. The room wasn’t as clean as expected, especially for the price. However, we did enjoy the surrounding area. If the room had been cleaner and smelled fresh, it would have been a big plus that really enhanced our stay.
- 5/5
great facilities, ball room, bar, bedroom with a view.
- 5/5
Loved my stay. Great restaurant too!
- 4/5
I enjoyed this hotel. The parking was easy. The rooms are pretty clean but a bit run down. However, the back of the property makes it all worth it! Didn’t have time to use the pool or hot tub but got to walk around back there and it’s gorgeous. Great views of the Columbia river.
- 5/5
Beautiful views of Columbia river, nice walking path next to the river!
- 5/5
Excellent size and comfort
- 5/5
Just a good vibe. Pretty location and lots to do in the area
- 5/5
Had a great time here. Used the pool facilities had dinner and breakfast here. The staff were on point and made our stay fabulous.
- 4/5
Great stay with wonderful view and pool.
- 5/5
Staff is always amazing! Our favorite spot for a staycation
- 5/5
Beautiful place along the river. many places to eat around it!
- 5/5
Great service! Large hotel with restaurant.
- 3/5
I spoke to someone at the property a week earlier about my late check in.. when I arrived front desk knew nothing…that was my biggest disappointment
- 4/5
This was a great property in the 1970's and it is a prime location on the Columbia river, they have revitalize the property, hope they continue to improve it.
- 1/5
We were placed in a room that should not even be rented. Underground dungeon. No warning of how far away it was. Lock fell off. Spiders. Light broken. Got a new room. Dirty and disgusting.
- 5/5
We were in Vancouver for a tennis tournament this weekend. The location of this hotel was so easy to get to and from our facility. Check in was a breeze and we were offered late check out for signing up for IHG one. The grounds are beautiful with sweeping waterfront views. The pool and hot tub were nice and refreshing at the end of each day. We forgot an item at the hotel. We called the front desk and Sheleya was able to track it down with house-keeping and called us back before we left town. Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Appreciate their making us feel valued. Would recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in Vancouver/portland area!
- 4/5
Tables were not dusted thoroughly
- 5/5
We had a room with a view of the river and it was beautiful!! Clean rooms, nice lobby area, great stay! Would come back :)
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
I liked the view, the walking trail right outside the hotel, the pool, and the staff. There were some areas where cleanliness seemed like it was not a priority, but overall we really enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
We were promised a river view suite. We got that: kinda.
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
The room are big and clean.
- 3/5
The front desk staff however is exceptionally accommodating and the pool is wonderful (unless you’re there during a Saturday little league championship ). Additionally, I find this baffling but directly behind the pool, instead of Monetizing this valuable space it is filled with trash and deliveries and you can smell it every time you walk to the lobby on the outside deck. If I were them I would move the trash and create a platform for the restaurant and fire everyone and get a new hiring manager who knows how to hire people with restaurant experience.
- 4/5
The pool area with picnic tables was nice and I liked the view from there as well. The front desk staff was nice.
- 5/5
Lala at the front desk was so kind and was quick to make our tired traveling crew feel relived and restful. Thanks you Lala.
- 5/5
Comfortable beds. Great pool area.

It said breakfast included and it wasn’t
- 5/5
Gave us a dirty room. Not usual for this hotel. Probably understaffed like the rest of the world that counts. Had to dust here and there to put things down, things on the carpet just ignored... Other than that same as I've stayed at 30 or so times.
- 5/5
Bed was a great pillow top. Not a lot of food options nearby except for fast food.
- 5/5
Bed too soft.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly & the hotel was very clean. This property is rather dated & sure wish the mattress had been comfortable (was just really worn out). Other than that, the view was spectacular & the room was quite large & roomy. Would like to see Holiday Inn renovate this hotel soon; it's in an excellent location & overlooks the Columbia River.
- 5/5
Great property with great views.
- 5/5
Breakfast was excellent. Excellent location to walk along the Columbia River.
- 1/5
Not recommend to stay, smells bad. The whole experience was not what we expected we had to check out one day earlier even loosing money, at least breakfast and waiter was good.
- 5/5
This will be my 4th time staying at this property for a summer girls trip on my Birthday weekend. Has not disappointed! Love it for the pool day, close to shopping, and close to dinning options. Especially to the Vancouver Waterfront! Very convenient. Staff is exceptional! Thank you again for another great birthday stay!
- 5/5
The security team was always patrolling making me feel safe. It was very clean.
- 5/5
Everything was pleasant, the staff was friendly and hotel confortable and clean.
- 5/5
Awesome place !!! Loved it will return
- 2/5
Portland airport jets fly directly overhead on takeoff, very loud. Also, extremely loud military fighter jets flew directly overhead at 8am both mornings we were there. Only coffee available other than in the rooms was the 'Coffee Bar' at $8 per cup.
- 5/5
Beautiful waterfront on the Columbia River. Family friendly and service was great!
- 4/5
Great hotel but advertising makes it seem better!
- 5/5
The staff was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. The room had a beautiful view of the river. Great atmosphere
- 5/5
It very accommodating for large groups and the walk on the river and to Tomahawk Island make this a great pet owners choice.
- 5/5
Great place. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff are friendly. Leave a good amount of time for breakfast as it's a la carte. The common areas near the lobby are lovely, but the corridors and elevators to the rooms could do with a spruce up.
- 4/5
Very friendly staff
- 5/5
Fastest concierge/ room service ever . You can text for any thing u need and delivered in less than 5 mins!
- 4/5
Overall property was good but the carpets had a washroom stench. Rooms were in good condition but there was no room service on either day that we stayed there.
- 2/5
The hotel had no heat, the rooms were freezing cold and they couldn’t or wouldn’t turn on the heat. It was like sleeping in a refrigerator. So bad.
- 5/5
Hands down the best service and staff I’ve encountered at a stay at any hotel nationwide. No kidding, Holiday Inn Columbia River we appreciate you so much. From the front desk daytime to midnight, all staff, especially the restaurant downstairs!! Seriously the best, best included breakfast possible. I am not exaggerating. Thank you Lala, Wanda, many others.
- 5/5
Nice pool
- 3/5
The hotel was clean and nice. It was older, so there are places that need updating. The main area near the elevators has a very musty smell, but the room did not. Staff were nice. Pool and spa were really nice and great views of the Columbia River. We changed hotels after one night to a more convenient location, not a lot around there. It seemed like it was a retirement community. We would have stayed longer if the location was better.
- 3/5
Just ok. Old building. In an attached room that you could easily hear their conversations the first night.
- 5/5
I'll definitely stay here again if I'm in town, but will ask for a better room closer to things for my mom who has trouble walking. The pool was very busy with kids but that was fine. I do wish there were less ants in the pool forst tbing in the morning. The staff are ALL so, so nice!!
- 5/5
The pool and the view
- 5/5
Nice property and very friendly staff
- 5/5
Good staff and easy check in and check out
- 5/5
Everything was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Check in was easy and the room had a great view overlooking the courtyard and the River. Breakfast choices were fabulous and the staff were all very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Gorgeous! 10’s across the board! Delicious room service, friendly staff and those views from our room.. ugh.. yes! I will 10/10 times stay here again in the future!!
- 3/5
This place was a great deal and has a lot of amenities to have a relaxing vacation. The A/C for the room was very weak and we had a room on the freeway side, so there was some noise. Other than that it was a great hotel.
- 5/5

Much more than just good.
- 4/5
Easy check-in, nice property and I love how they have security onsite to ensure no break ins or issues. I love the location of this property as it is very centrally located and there are tons of stores and shops, and even a Starbucks around the corner. O and a drive thru dispensary is right across the street. I’ll stay here again.
- 5/5
All good. Service , food
- 5/5
Beautiful and loved the waterway. Clean rooms great for families
- 5/5
Location on the river and easy access to freeway are great. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Hotel has been updated a bit since my last stay when Red Lion owned it.
- 5/5
The property is beautiful and right on the river. It has been nicely remodeled. Claire, at the front desk, was incredibly friendly and check in was quick. The restaurant was delicious and the service was great. We would stay there again, for sure!
- 5/5
It was great
- 5/5
Unexpectedly nice. Spotless room, food was good.Staff just lovely. Little noisy due to airplane flight paths, but that’s what you get w the location near airports. Hot tub, outdoor pool, courtyard facing rooms with such gorgeous trees and greenery, close to shops.
- 4/5
Staff are good people
- 5/5
The main reason I chose Holiday Inn was because they have free parking. The parking lot was also fenced and the flow of traffic entering and leaving was controlled. I was really happy about that. The staff was very friendly and professional. The room was clean and spacious. I could tell that the hotel wasn't brand new but it was well kept and in really good condition. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
- 4/5
Went for work and it was clean
- 5/5
Checkin was courteous, friendly and helpful. My room and view of the Columbia was amazing. I was here for an event at the Expo center and it was a quick trip to the venue.
- 5/5

Hotel is an older property but is well maintained. Bloom checked us in and she was professional and very accommodating. She asked for our preference of what side of property we preferred and I told her to pick. She gave us a room overlooking the courtyard, the river and bridge! It was amazing.

We stayed here for a ballroom dance showcase. We barely had to leave because everything was right there that we needed. The restaurant had great food, the hotel was clean, and the staff were all great.
