Reviews
Guests generally enjoyed their stay at the hotel, praising its modern decor, cleanliness, and friendly staff. The location was also frequently mentioned as a pro, being close to various attractions and amenities. However, several guests expressed dissatisfaction with the high parking fees and the lack of certain amenities in the rooms, such as counter space in the bathrooms and microwaves or kettles.
- Modern, clean decor
- Friendly and helpful staff
- High parking fees
- Lack of certain room amenities
- 4/5
Excellent artfully decorated hotel at great location. Very clean and updated. Excellent restaurant and a Starbucks in the same building. Took one star off because of high pitch noise in a corridor that woke us up at 6:30am. It was an egress door malfunction. I went down and alarmed staff. Staff took care of it in about 30 min. Probably will not happen to you.
- 5/5
The hotel was in a great location, I thought. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The room was clean and inviting. Only small issues is parking fees and bed was harder than I prefer, but that's just my personal preference. Absolutely would stay there again
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Great stay. Unique decor, helpful staff. Very comfortable bed and good facilities. Great shower, wonderful views across Portland. Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel with a convenient location for us. The restaurant was nice with a friendly and helpful staff. The front desk was also helpful, but I was mistakenly told on the second day that I did pay a destination charge and would be getting a 12.50 meal credit a day. On the 4th day I was told I would not. Over all not a big deal. I didn't need to use the parking, but it was $50 a night.
- 3/5
Nice hotel. The local community is a bit shabby but it’s Portland so that is expected. Hotel staff was great, room was a little dark but overall nice, and bed very comfortable.
- 5/5
We loved the location, room design and how clean everything was. Great place for a stay. Close to everything downtown.
- 5/5
The property was very well maintained and clean. My room was missing the ice chest but they brought one to me immediately. The only negative is not having microwaves in the rooms. That’s fairly common for today’s hotels and it’s convenient if a patron wants to warm up leftover food or drinks.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 4/5
Really great restaurant, comfortable beds, good location, modern facilities The service left a lot to be desired. The employee at the front desk made check-in feel like an inconvenience for her. At checkout, I asked if they could store my luggage for a few hours—a pretty standard request and a service they offer—but it was treated like an annoyance. The staff came across as unhelpful, which really put a damper on my stay. Unfortunately, customer service can make or break a place, and in this case, it definitely broke it.
- 5/5
Great staff. Spacious rooms. Good location. Would stay again.
- 1/5
This hotel had no soul. It was cold in appearance. Furniture was uncomfortable. It had a minimalistic postmodern feel that was completely unwelcoming and made you want to run for another hotel.
- 3/5
The staff is amazing. The whole experience was great, with one exception that will likely keep me from returning: the power outlets would only charge my phone for a few minutes at a time before stopping. This happened whether I used the outlet USB ports or a plug adapter. Once one gave up, the other spots in the outlet wouldn't work either, and wouldn't continue even after several minutes. I had to stay up late bouncing between 3 power outlet locations in the room just to charge up my phone enough to be confident my morning alarm would go off, and then charged it properly in my car. This hasn't been a problem before or since so it's not a phone issue, it's something with the room outlets.
- 3/5
Really appreciated how clean the room was. However, this place has a noise transference issue between rooms. We were awoken one morning at around 5 am because it sounded like someone was in our room opening our blinds, but we figured out it was instead the guests in the room below. This is just one of several instances of us being awoken by what were just routine sounds, but a seeming lack of soundproofing allowed through. Additionally, during our stay there was a test of the emergency fire system on our last morning there, but no one bothered to inform us that it was such a test. I had just gotten out of the shower when the alarm went off and we had to hurry to the exits. Thankfully, one of the alarm techs was in the hall and told us it was just a test. Absolutely absurd to not tell guests about this ahead of time.
- 5/5
Great location for walking to PSU and lots of dining choices. Hotel was clean and comfortable and had nice views of the city. Reasonably priced for the location.
- 5/5
Excellent location, rooms were CLEAN, quiet and comfortable. Modern built-in shades provided total room darkness, A/C was adjustable to allow maintaining proper temperature, was able to sleep comfortably despite the typical hotel heavy duvet covers. Room decor was a bit on the modern/austere side, but it was obvious that this enhanced cleanliness and was appreciated. My only minimal complaint was the flow-restricted "rain" shower head, which I feel makes it hard to clean and rinse throughly. I mean come on, we are right by the Willamette River, not in the middle of the desert! Parking was reasonable on-site and very convenient. Anyway, the Vance is now our go-to hotel in Portland, we will be back!
- 5/5
I love the bed the room I wish you would’ve had a microwave but everything overall was fantastic. I love Starbucks being close in the restaurant downstairs is really good. I do wish that being such an upscale hotel they would’ve had robes in the room like some other hotels that was it
- 4/5
Loved having a Starbucks & restaurant right off lobby. Didn’t need to go outside in the rain. Parking wasn’t bad on streets surrounding hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful, & accommodating. Wish the room was a little more swept & wiped down though. Also would’ve loved a microwave in our room. Great shower & products. Comfortable beds.
- 5/5
I have stayed here 3 times. It is beautiful, comfoetable, beds are comfy, accessible to all the downtown things I wanted to go to, walkable - friendly - I won't stay anywhere else
- 3/5
Front desk was friendly and polite but not very helpful. When asked about room service, I was first told no and then yes but when I tried to order was told no once again.
- 4/5
Very clean and cute. Good location for Phantom at the Keller Auditorium. BUT hooks and shower soap dish were falling off the wall. Also, I personally HATE bar soap for the bathroom sink (which is what they had) since it + counter/sink just stays WET and slimy. expensive parking. ALSO WHY oh why was there The Book of Mormon?? (and no bible)…although I could do without either that just seemed ODD. Especially in downtown Portland. Hmmmm
- 5/5
The staff is amazing!!!!
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
Neat rooms you don’t see a lot of in other hotels The tv was glitching on the live tv part but worked fine when I screen shared
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Room was clean. Parking was good. Didn't have much interaction with staff but overall great stay
- 5/5
Rooms were nice and it was quiet.
- 1.5/5
it was located close to the Art Museum, the main attraction we were interested in visiting. Breakfast was not included. Task lighting was not adequate.
- 5/5
Great say. Parking close by.
- 5/5
I liked the staff, they were very friendly, professional and unique. They seemed to have a "Portland vibe" about them, the maid in particular went out of her way to be of service. I really liked her! I liked the room, with a somewhat brutalist design. It was very cool.
- 5/5
Hotel great convenient stay!
- 4/5
This hotel was super nice and clean, Staff was friendly and super nice in suggesting places to go and things to do. The view was spectacular and the room was so clean. I would come here again. Parking was right across from the hotel and you just have to pay per night.
- 5/5
Amazing stay
- 4.5/5
The location, the ambiance, and felt very secure. Comfy beds. Starbucks is also next door which is convenient. Staff is super friendly! The shower does not close or have a curtain so it does splash and get water on the ground. Also the steam doesn’t vent very much after taking a shower but the heated mirror that doesn’t fog is a nice touch. Honestly very minor overall not a big deal. Everything else was wonderful!
- 4/5
Overall, I'd give 4 out of 5 stars, but mostly because it's a very sparse, industrial aesthetic...not really our cup of tea. And the mattress was very firm, difficult for my husband who's only 9 weeks out from open-heart surgery. But it was conveniently located for our purpose and, for downtown Portland, the price was reasonable.
- 5/5
Stayed here for three nights. Very clean and very beautiful hotel. I highly recommend trying their restaurant downstairs called Vance and Vine! Will most definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Portland.
- 4/5
Nice place good staff, kind of an in odd area but not unsafe.
- 5/5
Great location! The decor is colorful and whimsical, definitely no boring room! Plan to stay here on my next trip to Portland.
- 3.5/5
The property advertises an in-house restaurant but it was closed for a “management update” for the duration of my week-long stay.
- 4.5/5
The esthetics were a little cold, concrete walls and ceiling. Just could use a little bit warmer or welcoming vibe.
- 3/5
The restaurant is closed at night and there are very few nearby options. The checkin area is right by the sliding doors so staff have to use a space heater to keep warm. Overall I would not stay here for “pleasure “ again.
- 5/5
Staff was not really around other than reception, so can’t rate. It felt like living in nice condos, very quiet where everyone keeps to themselves. Only issue was the restaurant. It really doesn’t have a menu. It could be because it’s been open a month, but even for a water order it took forever and there was no one else there.
- 4/5
Staff was so friendly and helpful! We were close to nice restaurants and shopping. Loved our stay there!
- 1/5
Jerks
- 5/5
The staff was amazing! Very friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful!
- 5/5
Great hotel for the price. Restaurant wasn’t fully open and had a limited menu.
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms and staff was very nice and helpful
- 5/5
Spotless room, friendly staff, great location and value.
- 5/5
Every thing was groovy
- 5/5
Clean and safe compared to the Moxy Hotel Spacious, caring attitude, felt safe compared to the Moxy Hotel.
- 3/5
The staff we dealt with especially Andrew very helpful. However the room had issues 1. No light in coffee closet. Hard to see how to operate coffee machine. 2.in room coffee terrible. Thankful for Starbucks. 3. Closet to close to bed, access difficult. 4. Chairs uncomfortable. 5.accessing streaming service ridiculously technical, but could watch local channels 6. Toliet seat uncomfortable 7. Shelves in bathroom small and situated beneath towel rack over toliet. Close lid or else items fall in.
- 5/5
Came for the Bridgetown Holy Spirit Conference at the Keller center. Walked there everyday. If it was warmer, I believe there are bikes available to ‘rent’ for free. If it was warmer, we would have done this Also, restaurant is open & delicious (1/30/26)
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
very central and very friendly and helpful staff. They had bicycles you can borrow for free. n/a
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and the Starbucks was a plus. No food available. The coffee display was missing creamer. I hope the restaurant starts working soon.
- 5/5
Everything was smooth and great! Love staying here! Easy in/out. Starbucks in lobby. Clean and fun room. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean room with lofted ceilings, great gym that’s open 24/7 and close to lots of good food and coffee.
- 3.5/5
NA I let them know my daughter was coming in around 1am and was told there was a night clerk. When she arrived, no one was there to let her in. Thankfully she was able to wake me up so I could let her in.
- 4.5/5
Large room, cool design, quiet and comfy, excellent location for my needs.
- 4/5
The view and the cleness of the room If you served complimentary breakfast
- 4/5
The room was very clean and very nice, the only thing I was missing was a microwave. No microwave
- 0.5/5
Room design very average. Iron in room didnt work No restaurant in hotel functional Despite hotel agreeing to extend check out by an hour, room key was disabled. I had to shuttle thrice between lobby/front desk and room on higher floor to get my room opened.
- 4/5
Clean, mostly quiet, secure, great location, friendly staff
- 5/5
Always clean, quiet and nicely appointed with the basic amenities. Staff is friendly and the location is great.
- 1.5/5
Stood in line for 15 minutes to check in at 10:30PM with the only desk person. Wanted hot bath... no bathtub. Television required a Geek squad, with QR scans, linkages etc. Called the desk... person they were sending up to resolved never showed. Ended up just reading.
- 5/5
Great staff and rooms
- 4/5
Clean room friendly staff at check-in.
- 5/5
The staff are so friendly and helpful. No place to buy sodas or anything.
- 4/5
We had problems with the safe and the fire alarm went off the first night so hard we couldn’t sleep… we got moved to another room in the middle of the night and from there it was good
- 5/5
Clean nice staff
- 5/5
We enjoyed the stay
- 3/5
It was architecually brutalist in design and felt cold. The beds were comfortable but the room and hotel lacked any sense of a comfortable stay. Cool wall paper. No restaurant. Close proximity to other attractive things to do. 5/10. Have plans to book a stay a different hotel next time.
- 4/5
Though the housekeeping did not clean the room properly the second night of our stay - left the room dirty and the beds were not made properly. They charge $50 /night for parking though gave us a promo for new signup - so we did not get charged but still bit concern :(
- 2/5
Amenities could be improved. When we stayed there were no good breakfast options available. Hotel gives you a credit of $12.50 but we couldnt use it properly as the restaurant was closed for renovation. They also charge
- 5/5
Secure parking, huge room, close to PSU
- 5/5
Very nice staff
- 1/5
Was woken up by staff at 3 am because they had a door dash delivery and didn't know who it was for (it wasn't ours). I guess they were just calling all the rooms in middle of the night to see who it was for. We complained about it and they offered to comp the $50 parking fee, then ended up charging us for it after we checked out. It's a nice place, but unprofessionally operated.
- 2/5
My car window was smashed in the garage. And the room looks half-finished, material is cheap and bed is awfully soft
- 5/5
Room was amazing! Extremely comfortable bed, incredible shower, and staff was very accommodating and friendly. 10/10 will be staying again!
- 4/5
We got a king delux room and it was very spacious with a desk to work on and a bench to throw all our bags on. There is also a loft area with some games which ended up being a surprise highlight of our trip :) It isn’t directly near a lot of big tourist locations BUT it is still close/walkable to many good restaurants and shops!
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly, room was clean, location was great and price was reasonable. No complaints from me!
- 5/5
Clean rooms , wonderful staff , all updated amenities
- 4/5
Staff was really Awesome and they've upgraded one of our room to Deluxe with free of cost and given complementary Parking Wave-Off. We really liked the stay and good views to DownTown.
- 5/5
This hotel is conveniently located near a few coffee shops, making it a great choice for coffee lovers. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful, answering all my questions. The only downside is that parking is an additional charge unless you’re lucky enough to find free street parking
- 5/5
Excellent hotel in the heart of Portland, with very responsive and helpful staff, super clean rooms and amenities, and perfect location for ridesharing as well. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Portland!
- 5/5
Limited breakfast options/service
- 5/5
Clean
- 4/5
Nice staff
- 4/5
Courteous staff. Very clean room, comfortable bed, heat in the room was super responsive. Amenities were a bit sparse — like no water glasses was a little odd and just one very small bar of hand soap that was barely enough to last the two days we stayed there. Location was great — good dining right around the corner and attached to a Starbucks. Definitely would stay again.
- 3/5
Stain on the sofa and freezing shower
- 5/5
Only missing a microwave in the room
- 5/5
Great staff, clean rooms, location was great
- 3/5
The room was nice but seemed unfinished with raw concrete beams and ceiling. Hard tile floor. Some of the lights did not work
- 5/5
Great cocktail's made with homemade Shrub, and a decent price. Rooms were clean , bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
Always love staying here!! Service, comfort & location are on point!
- 5/5
It’s small and cozy! Great for last min trips 😊
- 4/5
thank you
- 4/5
Yes the room was clean and staff last night and this morning were kind and helpful
- 5/5
Additionally, the view from the hotel was absolutely breathtaking, adding a special touch to my overall experience. The location of Hotel Vance is perfect, providing easy access to many of Portland’s attractions and amenities, which greatly enhanced my visit. Staying at your hotel truly made my experience in Portland ten times better. I cannot recommend Hotel Vance highly enough to anyone planning a trip to the area. Thank you once again for providing such a wonderful stay. I look forward to returning in the future.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, great water pressure and friendly staff. Will stay here again next time we’re in town.
- 5/5
Nice and clean.
- 5/5
10’s, 10’s, 10’s across the board!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay here and the bed was nice. Unfortunately like many newer hotels there was very little storage in the bathroom and our toiletries had to be perched precariously on a small shelf. The bathroom was large, it would have been nice to have regular towel racks and a countertop for our toiletries.
- 5/5
Vance hotel is right in the middle of Portland. Absolutely loved how clean and nice the staff were! There was a variety of restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy from! Can’t wait to be back!
- 4/5
Remember to fill the conditioner bottle
- 5/5
Clean and friendly with spacious rooms.
- 5/5
Always love staying here. Garage for parking is super convenient, and several really good places to eat in walking distance. Best donuts in the world, 400ft away, just across the park.
- 4/5
The room was dark even with lights on. Bathroom doesn’t have much space for toiletries.
- 4/5
Great location and nice rooms
- 5/5
This property was such a beautiful stay. The staff were very helpful and supportive of us, making sure that we were comfortable; especially Andrew at the front desk. He was very informative of the area and had a great personality. The room was very clean, open and comfortable. We have stayed here before and will definitely be staying here again.
- 4/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Great staff. Very friendly.
- 5/5
By far the best hotel in downtown Portland. We’ve stayed here 4 or 5 times now and it’s always been consistent with really great customer service, from front desk to housekeeping. Everyone we encountered was so nice, accommodating and helpful! We can’t wait to come back next year when we return for Halloweentown in St Helens!
- 5/5
Kendall and staff are amazing! Appreciate the friendly service and help!

Hotel was overbooked. Sent to a sister property
- 4/5
Good area
- 1/5
I had a medical emergency that prevented me from being able to stay at the hotel, and the hotel manager refused to cancel the the reservation, citing their no-refund policy. I was not asking them for a refund because I had purchased trip insurance through expedia, but you can't file a claim on an active reservation--the reservation had to be cancelled which the hotel manager just would not do. Because of this, I was unable to file my insurance claim and be refunded for my hotel stay. These people are pedantic. I can't believe Marriott, which has always had excellent customer service from my experience, would put their names on this building with the lack of care and empathy inside it.
- 5/5
Good, clean
- 5/5
The shelf over the toilet makes it hard to flush considering it’s a push flush is on top of the tank where that shelf is lol. Either you remove that shelf or you need to get a toilet with the flush lever on the side.
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean, comfortable and everything seemed to be new. The only con was that the restaurant was closed for remodeling
- 5/5
I recently had the pleasure of staying at [vance hotel], and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, courteous, and always ready to help with a smile. The room was spotless, well-appointed, and comfortable, with all the modern amenities you’d expect from a top-tier hotel. The bed was especially cozy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
- 5/5
Loved our stay!
- 5/5
Great location, casual yet sophisticated vibe, attentive, helpful staff, comfy beds, clean modern accommodations. We would happily stay there again.
- 5/5
One of the things we liked was the room service, one night when we got there they had cleaned up our rooms and made the sheets, a final touch that we really loved was that we had some Chicken plushies and they put those on top of the beds after making it & thought it was adorable and super nice of them ! 😊 Would definitely recommend staying at the hotel, only thing is what we didn’t like was the open shower.. the design makes it for the heat go not stay trapped in. Besides that everything with our stay was amazing !!
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Staff was amazing and so helpful. Starbucks was down the corner. Gym was so clean and nice. They provided water. They had a second floor where you can just watch tv and relax and some games. Rooms were so nice and different in a good way.
- 4/5
Friendly staff and beautiful rooms
- 5/5
Great !
- 5/5
We did not use the gym during our stay. Starbucks being connected to the hotel was definitely a plus. The restaurant was closed while we were there due to renovations, however, there were many restaurants in the area within walking distance.
- 5/5
It’s a good place
- 5/5
Spacious rooms, convenient locations for restaurants and shopping, nice location. Love the modern look of the building interior and rooms.
- 5/5
Clean room friendly staff
- 5/5
Hotel was nice and convenient to walk around downtown
- 1/5
Staff clean room is not good at all , sometime forget add all the towels, sometimes forget clean room , sometimes not happy to agree to change the sheets! I stay four days , last day when I back to room the bathroom no anything to use for shower !
- 4/5
Great location and staff
- 3/5
There were stains on the wall where the zoom in mirror hangs. When the housekeeper made my bed, the sheets were not changed. I could still see dirt on the sheets. Checking in was awkward af since the concierge was right at the door.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay.
- 3/5
Very industrial and not warm and inviting. Bed was very uncomfortable. People were great. Dining not available at th time.
- 4/5
It’s a very stark environment. We stayed for 5 nights, and while no major complaints, the lack of lighting in such a large area is unfortunate. Trying to google cast my apps to the tv was frustrating, as well. The beds were very comfy and great bathroom amenities. Front desk friendly and helpful. Overall I can recommend, but if you like cozy this isn’t it.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and clean
- 5/5
Great pop art hotel. Expensive parking.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Comfortable bed. Some rooms are large. Large lobby with lots of seating and a gathering space on the second floor. Starbucks attached to the hotel. Hotel does not currently have a restaurant. Other coffee shops a couple blocks away. Parking garage in the basement for $50 a night. Fridge and coffee in the room. You can also request a microwave.
- 2/5
Parking was ridiculous. The city is so over run with psychiatric/drug addled people that you can’t safely park on the street, then you gouge people for $$$/day. Hotel was clean, but the decor looked like it was done by a child with a seizure disorder. Good luck in the future with this albatross
- 5/5
Clean room. Cool design. Great service quick responses, and trying to accommodate our requests. Parking is very expensive!
- 5/5
I very much enjoyed my stay at Hotel Vance! The front desk was very accommodating with an early check-in and I am very grateful for being able to leave my luggage as I went off to explore before my room was ready. The room and bathroom were clean and I appreciated being on the top floors. I will stay again when I come to Portland!
- 4/5
Lighting in room was poor once o light from outdoors. A full-length mirror would be nice, and there was plenty room for one. Great price!
- 3/5
Hotel Vance was OK. The building is also an office building so it had that vibe. The room was comfortable enough, but I never saw a staff member of the entire time I was there. Our room wasn’t cleaned, and the sheet was put on inside out. The toilets are huge and make you feel like you’re falling into them and the decor is going for funky, but is actually just kind of bland. The restaurant was closed for renovations, and that is the one and only amenity. For its price I would say somewhere else.
- 4/5
Nice staff
- 1/5
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND when looking for a hotel and finding this one I was expecting for the room itself to be clean but when coming into the room first thing me and 2 other people find are someone's body hairs in the shower in a spot that is easily spotted because it’s the spot that holds the bar of soap, I called the staff they came and offered to clean it right away as the women cleaned it and assured us it was clean she left but as soon as one of my friends decided to take a shower we found more body hairs aka pubes and I think for this hotel to be so highly rated this shouldn’t be some thing you find walking into a hotel room expecting it to be clean, we continued to look around the room after that for more imperfections, the beds once we undid them one had a blood stain on the sheets and the room just seemed like someone made it look clean but did not actually do any cleaning definitely not staying here again
- 5/5
Great location. Very clean and accommodating.
- 5/5
Attentive staff, friendly, helpful! The place is nicely styled in a sleek, modern, fun vibe!
- 5/5
We enjoyed hotel a lot. It's new, convenient, clean and comfortable. The price is pretty good, also.
- 3/5
When I booked this there was still a restaurant/bar attached to the hotel, when I showed up it was closed without letting guests know. Additionally, I had two separate interactions with two different front desk agents that let me know I don’t want to stay here again. First interaction I was trying to ask about car parking as I was renting a car for one of the days I was staying there. The area around the hotel has a lot of homeless so I wanted to get info on adding one day car parking. The front desk lady said she had no idea how to do that and if I could wait for someone else to get back. We waited 15 minutes and nothing so we just left to avoid missing our reservation. The second interaction, I walked up to the front desk and a girl told me she works at Starbucks and is just covering a bathroom break. I waited for the person who actually worked there to show up and when she did she looked at me as she was walking to the desk and said “You need to give me a moment, I can’t right now.” I hadn’t said one word yet so I just stood there a bit shocked she looked back up and asked how she could help. I think she realized how rude she sounded. Both of these interactions took place around 9am-10am. I ended up not renting the car as I was never able to secure parking information and eventually spent more on Uber than I would have wanted.
- 3/5
Easy check in, clean, efficient, but takes the idea of minimalism way too far. A few drawers or a piece of art would go a long ways to making the room feel welcome.
- 5/5
Nice
- 4/5
Had a great time and the staff was lovely
- 4/5
Good
- 3/5
The bed was quite possibly the hardest surface I’ve ever slept on!
- 5/5
Service is always great, it's a great location as well.
- 5/5
I like the design of the room and the comfort of the bed
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Very Safe and Amazing Hotel! They were very nice staff and helped out everytime we asked!
- 5/5
This is one of our favorite Portland sites where we have stayed. Still downtown, but a little quieter than the main core where we normally stay. About a 15 minute walk to Powell's Books area. We will definitely return!
- 5/5
It was a very special hotel - unlike any other chain hotel. Very clean and everything I needed. I’m sorry I could only stay one night!
- 4/5
Clean
- 5/5
It was a lovely experience being at the hotel. I loved the cosmopolitan vibe it gave off. There were pilots to people on holiday at this hotel. Staff was lovely.
- 3/5
I was greatly disappointed because I was not informed the cafeteria was not available due to the fact that it was being renovated.

This is the fourth time either myself and/or family members have stayed at the Vance. As always, the Vance is super accommodating, friendly, and reliable. I love the modern aesthetic and the rooms are always clean. Excellent location ~ you can walk anywhere you'd like to go. The Vance is our go to. We look forward to staying here again!

This is the first time 5 star review I ever done. I for sure would stay here again and the front desk, I believe Jessie or starts with a J- amazing. I really like this hotel and the size of the rooms! So so good

Room was comfortable with a view of the city. Eclectic design with contemporary furnishings. Comfortable beds, but could use an extra blanket. Starbucks adjoining, was great. Free street parking after 7pm was nice, otherwise, $3.00/hr. with a 2 hour max from 8AM-7PM. Close to freeways and centrally located makes it easy to get around.

Quite stay close to transit

I had several packages for a conference shipped to the hotel prior to my arrival. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful with my collection of these materials and made a stressful trip much easier and more enjoyable!
- 5/5
Nice & clean. The worker is very kind & respectful. I would stay there for future visits.

Amazing location. Close to everything but not too busy. The service has been amazing. Would be perfect if there is breakfast available

I had stayed at this hotel eight months ago and really enjoyed the bartenders, bar and restaurant. Unfortunately, that is no longer an option as they have closed the bar and restaurant. The front desk employees were very friendly! The lobby looked well-maintained as well as the outside of the property and I love having the Starbucks right next-door! Other than the restaurant and bar being currently closed, the other disappointing thing was my toilet had left over urine on the seat when I arrived, as well as one of my hand towels had three spots of blood on it. I would stay here again, but those things dressed.

Always my favorite❤️

Beautiful hotel and pretty affordable to feel so luxury! Love the unique design and our view on the eighth floor was lovely. Very walkable area nearby as well, felt pretty safe. Four stars because $50 parking to stay overnight is quite pricy to tack onto the bill especially since it's not a private garage exclusive to the hotel despite being right under it. One other thing to keep in mind is that there are not microwaves inside the rooms, so leftovers aren't easy to hang onto. Otherwise, amazing and felt very clean!

Really clean, kind and response reception

Lovely hotel beautifully located one block from South Park blocks. Convenient to restaurants and all manner of public transportation. Would stay here again.

The parking was not good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We love the fun whimsical decor and cleanliness as well as the location. But the absolute best part were the front desk employees who welcomed us warmly and assisted with all our questions. They truly helped make our stay special.

Great place to stay. Looking forward to staying again when headed to the Keller Auditorium.

We reserved a room and paid in advance and upon arrival they gave our room away.

Hotel Vance is a kitschy hotel in what is considered to be the Arts district. Although we felt safe while walking the area, we would not describe this area as artsy. We came upon a few theaters but did not find galleries or artsy stores. The hotel was unique with fun wallpaper & tile and the beds were quite comfortable. The staff was kind and helped us to find quality restaurants. I chose this hotel because the price fit my budget.

The front desk staff was super helpful and accommodating! I will definitely stay here again. The only missing item in the room was a full-length mirror.
- 3/5
Some little things need to be fixed in the room the rubber below the door our room was 817 it was ok tho for us to just sleep the ac can be up graded also

The person that checked me in was wonderful. After that, each front desk person I talked to seemed like they hated their job. I also dropped off laundry at the desk and they werent able to get it taken care of. Not the end of the world but would have been helpful.

Great property. Quiet room and nice area. Staff was welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Hotel Vance is in a great downtown location near the Portland sign, but the experience felt a little off. The hotel shares its building with office spaces in the Broadway Tower, so check-in was just a small roller table tucked near the elevators, good thing the hotel works with the Marriott Bonvoy app for mobile keycard functions. The vibe was pretty sterile and dim, lacking the warmth or personality you’d expect from a boutique stay. Cleanliness was also not quite there, I noticed traces from previous guests in the room. On the plus side, staff were friendly and the on-site coffee (Starbucks) and restaurant (Beastro) options were convenient. Decent stay, but not that memorable.

This hotel was chosen for its location and it worked out well for us. Cost was competitive among others in town. It's the first hotel we ever stayed to have laminated flooring instead of carpet and we liked it. We were provided an accessible room (not needed, so they may have a surplus on that day) and it was plenty spacious. Furnishing was functional but very minimal so it's not for those who want to spend time in the room and hang out. Service was prompt and front desk was super friendly and helpful. Entrance to the garage, though, was too narrow for my comfort so I had to go super slow with my SUV. There were plenty scratches on the poles showing many cars didn't do well through the entrance. On the up side, parking spots were decently sized and access to the building was convenient.

Here are my negative observations. We usually came in late at night (after 10 pm) and I noticed the front desk (more like a kiosk) was left unmanned. This would be fine if access to the front door was key-only. It isn't! You can basically walk in even if you are not a guest. I was not comfortable with that regardless of how safe a city may appear to be. It had rained when we were in Portland (surprised?), so I asked the front desk if I could borrow an umbrella. I was told they didn't have any to loan because people do not return them. I thought that excuse was unacceptable. Easy remedy is to charge the room of people who do not return the borrowed umbrella. I told the staff that it is not unlike guests being charged if you took home the robe provided by a hotel (which Vance doesn't provide BTW). Given that it always rains in Portland, this should be a consideration.

This property is uniquely ultra modern, has plenty of plug in and is a minimalists dream. Coffee pot in closet with water with the appropriate cream, sugar and stir sticks. The Korean Restaurant and Starbucks on site were very convenient and the gym and lounge area on the 2nd floor, were nice. The TV is only what you can cast from your phone and I did not locate bending macines on site. There is a Safeway and a very good donut shop a 3 minute walk. Close to everything downtown.
