A solutely the best place to stay in Redondo Beach !!

The food was decent, though not particularly memorable. It was satisfactory for a hotel restaurant, but not something I would specifically seek out again. Unfortunately, the condition of the room did not meet my expectations for the price point. The room showed noticeable signs of wear and deferred maintenance. There was peeling wallpaper, scratches and damage on several wood surfaces, minor mold around the ceiling area near the shower, and the closet door would not close completely. While none of these issues were severe individually, together they made the room feel tired and in need of refurbishment. Overall, the excellent staff helped make the stay enjoyable, but the hotel would benefit from updating and better maintaining its guest rooms. With some attention to these details, it could provide a much stronger guest experience.

Hotel side were very attentive and informative especially when i got a flat when i got off the freeway. They helped guide me where to go and avoid. The valet guys were super funny and friendly. I am definitely coming back to this hotel when i have another staycation

This place was amazing. Such a great vibe. Clean comfortable rooms. Great view from balcony of marina. Seals hanging out on the dock and backs of boats were so cool to see. Parking is 45 over night but worth it. Valet was so friendly and prompt. Will definitely return next time in California.

Very clean, attentive staff, and really high end. Our kids LOVED the colorful lights in the room and we all enjoyed the rooftop pool. Only downside was the food at the restaurant (you can have it delivered with room service) was often incorrect to what we ordered or not that tasty, but not a dealbreaker.

The rooftop pool was lovely and beautiful views. Staff were extremely accommodating and kind. I got a text the day before to say the rooftop pool was closed due to a private event on the day we were arriving . We changed our plans because of this.

Nice spot They added too many extras. $40 resort fee and $40 parking fee. It is not a resort, it is a hotel. They charge too much for what you get. The location is great, but other hotels in the same area charge less and are comparable.

We have been going to LA for many years. We have stayed at many hotels. The Shade was an excellent choice and will be our hotel in the future. Great staff and beautiful rooms overlooking the harbor. Great choice.

The location was perfect. We borrowed bikes from the hotel and biked to the pier. The hotel was clean and comfortable. My boys love the different lighting in our room. We had a nice view of the harbor. The customer service was superb! I would stay again.

The location was beautiful, with a walking and bike path right outside the balcony, which was great for easy access to the marina and outdoor activities. However, our room was on sea level, and there was very little privacy since people were constantly passing by just outside. If you’re booking a suite with the tub, I would definitely recommend requesting a second-floor room for a more private and enjoyable experience.

Wow! What a great room with an amazing view and amenities. We will definitely be staying here agin! We had a very busy weekend with family and friends and this was the cherry on top. It was so inviting and relaxing. The outdoor tub is perfect!

They say they allow smoking in certain areas but still charge you a smoking fee if they smell anything in the room. How does that make sense?

Room was great, clean and convenient and generous in size. . Bathroom generous in size, 2 tvs, good wifi but you you had to sign in everyday. Could use a new mattress as one side had a big dip. Bathtub is on the balcony. If you want to use it make sure you have a 2nd floor or higher room.

Do not be fooled by the Photos guys. This is $150 hotel room run with minimal staff. It's one of these new modern models that are low overhead way overpriced.

I love staying at the Shade Hotel —the spacious rooms, the beautiful King Harbor view, and the balcony bathtub always feel indulgent. Champagne, a wonderful complimentary breakfast & a morning bike ride make every stay exceptional. It’s like a second home to me.

Love this spot… i am fortunate 2 have stayed here many times. I recommend it 2 folks i want 2 be in comfort in that part of town… i appreciate how well they’re maintaining the hotel. I’m wishing them continued success & bestings… i would love 4 them & so many other hotels 2 drop the resort fee charges… kinda feels like I’m being taken advantage of when i want 2 stay here & support this clean & comfortable space.

This is our place, we stay here 6-7 times a year for the past 3 years. Staff is always friendly, hotel is nice and super clean, can’t beat the bathtub on the balcony. If you feel like splurging get one of the suites which we do every so often. The bar has a great Espresso Martini my wife enjoys.

Proximity to the beach/boat loading area, how quiet it was and yet close to all things necessary. Staff were great, food options were good too. We could not find the staircase from the 2nd or 3rd floor down.. in case of emergency, it looked like we have to use the elevator down. It wasn’t marked anywhere where the exit through staircase was?

Fantastic stay. The hotel is in like-new condition; the staff are wonderful, SeaLevel's service and food are exceptional. The NYE party's live musicians with the dj killed it! Couldn't have been any better.

My husband and I desperately needed a break from the daily demands of parent life, so we escaped to Shade Hotel for the ultimate staycation and it did not disappoint. Upgrading to the Sky Level Ocean View King Suite was absolutely WORTH IT 😍 Bonus was the bottle of sparkling California wine 🥂 From the moment we checked in and were handed a complimentary prickly pear margarita, we knew we made the right choice. We took a gorgeous evening stroll to the Redondo Pier for dinner, and the walk back under the full moon was pure magic 🌙 The next morning, we put our $20 food credit to good use and ordered room-service breakfast…which was phenomenal 😋 And yes, breakfast & mimosas in the bathtub, served by my personal “man servant” (aka hubby), overlooking the Marina was the relaxation we didn’t know we needed 🛁🥂

Almost $400 a night Canadian for a view of a parking lot unless you wanted to pay an additional $100 for a room with a tiny little deck overlooking the marina. And then there's all the hidden fees and taxes such as $45 for parking etc.

This is a motel with a resort fee. Room 2nd floor all the way at the end facing parking lot smelled awful. The air purifier in the room didn’t help. Slept with sliding glass door open just to make it bearable. Don’t understand how they can offer this room to guests. Thankfully it was only 1 night where we got in super late and left early AM.

Room was very large and spacious. The hotel was pretty empty. Coffee maker did not work in the room they brought us a second coffee maker It wasn't working either. They gave us a room on the second floor the very end of the hallway looking at a parking lot out of all the empty rooms they gave us that one not sure we would have stayed longer but the place was just dead no one therebroken.

Absolutely terrible! 12 hours before check in we get an email stating our room has been canceled due to “overbooking”… yet 6 hours before that we emailed them asking if we could leave our bags and they said absolutely! How did it go from that to canceled?! Haven’t even received a refund yet! Don’t trust booking here!

The housekeeping did a good job with the room. Was a room reception when i checked in. I’m fortunate to have stayed at this hotel many times before & this was another good stay… it’s gotten way more expensive to stay at the hotel than it was just 4 years ago… if the prices stayed lower & more reasonable, I’d stay here more if they are good with having me… i wish the hotel & its staff continue success.

We paid for sky level ocean view but just saw the marina. We inquired about it but they did nothing. Next time I will pay less for marina view or not.

The Shade is a great choice for a trip to Redondo Beach. Located right on the water, you've got access to the shore, beach and attractions. I wish it was a more walkable neighborhood outside of the tourist attractions. You are surrounded by other resorts and it takes about 14 minutes to walk to grocery, coffee and everyday needs. But it was doable.

Restaurant was closed so no breakfast or anything - they didn't tell us until after we checked out that there was room service available so we ate out all week. Property was nice but this combined with some interactions with staff hurt the rating.

The Shade was so disappointing. Very overpriced for poor service, very expensive non-disclosed valet only parking and fees (additional $80+ per day). Room was not ready when checked twice, pool was tiny (size of a glorified hot tub) and no towels an hour after requesting. 1990 wifi speed (seriously), restaurant was closed with constant events and noise. Carpet was disgusting and coupons for $20 off per day bought less than 1 drink and soda. Terrible experience overall and severe disappointment. Will never stay again nor recommend. The Holiday Inn was a better experience!

Everything about our stay was perfect except the length. I wish we had had more time and we'll definitely be back. The staff from the valet to the front desk to the restaurant were all friendly, professional and efficient.

Also due to my allergies, the cleaning staff made sure to vacuum my room thoroughly. Breakfast was great and the restaurant’s food was excellent! I enjoyed the bike ride! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Shade Hotel. My room was so spacious and well appointed! I loved the tub out on my private balcony! The industrial type steamer was fabulous at getting a long formal dress ready to wear for a wedding. The robe was so comfy, as was the bed. Great room to relax and enjoy the view of the marina. Really appreciated the "living room" area with the couch. Nice touches like heavy shower doors, good hardware on the drawers... The ONLY thing that was not 5-star was the breakfast - dried out eggs, greasy sausage... nothing special there. Better than nothing, but you do pay for it dearly in the "amenity charge" which is another $34+ ! For that I would expect better quality breakfast. The oatmeal was good. We did like the rooftop pool and the food we ordered there was delicious! The shisito peppers had a tasty citrusy crunchy salt/spice on them, and the burata pear with arugula, ariels, on a good bread was yummy.

Lil hiccup with thinking the luggage was coming to our room when the valet unloaded the car. There is no bellhop service, wait for your luggage. Needed a few items and Enrique was more than helpful and accommodating. Continental breakfast was lacking on Tuesday morning. Overheard another guest who had been there several days mention it was lacking compared to previous days. Noticeable difference and improvement on Wednesday so I’m guessing it’s staffing difference as Tuesday morning staff member was focused on his break at 10am instead of replacing coffee with hot coffee, couldn’t be bothered with locating brown sugar for oatmeal and coffee cups were empty. He said he’d bring more eggs when others ran out though there were few remaining with an hour of service left. FYI.. Avocado toast is beyond delicious and a work of art! All in all… definitely would return!! 9.9!

Our chicken was at 3 o’clock, so we got there 10 minutes early our room wasn’t ready so we had to wait 20minutes that was disappointing.

Excellent location with large well appointed room. Think Vegas style on the water. Excellent service from staff. Unfortunately many added fees (approximately $100 for mandatory valet parking and amenity fee). Unfortunately the gym does not meet minimum standards. The roof top pool was nice with amazing views although the loungers are showing their age. The daily happy hour is a great value with tasty options. The amenity fee based breakfast was of average quality and not worth $39.00 or even half the price. Overall I have mixed emotions due to cost versus value.

Only stayed one night, but upgraded for the Marina view anyways. Did not like, that front door opened to a walkway that was “outside”. It did not feel secure and we had no indication when booking that this was how the hotel was set up. Valet service only when we arrived, but when we to returned from dinner at about 10p, the valet was closed and we had to self park, again not expected. Room was well appointed and spacious, but there was an air filter running when got in, and it smelled musty, like they were recovering from water damage/mildew. They shouldn’t be offering a room that is still in rehab. If we weren’t in a rush to make our dinner reservation, we would’ve requested a new room. I think this would be a great place for someone having a party, but not the most comfortable for a couple trying to get privacy and R&R.

Luxury at an affordable price

However, we were not pleased with the restaurant on Friday night. After we were seated, we were left without a single waiter or staff looking our way. Even the supervisor sitting at the bar height table at the entrance did not notice that no one came to help us. The rooftop pool area also requires staffing. No one is around which allows children to simply use the already small pool as a play area. There were toys and food floating in the pool as well as sand or dirt collecting in the bottom at the corners. All in all, not a inviting area at all.

The service was amazing, every employee was so accommodating. The room we had was spectacular, great views and the tub on the balcony were awesome.

Just a quick couples getaway — our room was clean and cozy. The view was lovely and it was just a quick walk to every where we wanted to go.

Pool area could be nice but not well laid out or managed Tiny waters provided, for the cost of the rooms its a joke. I see multiple charges with no explanations on my credit card bill now. those charges on not well detailed on the bill View from the room is a big positive, bed was comfortable. I will not consider staying there again.

The balcony bath tub was Amazing

The hotel sold this expensive room as “executive penthouse” which suggests strongly that it’s at the top or at least an upper floor. It’s not. It’s on the ground floor where literally people from the wise walk can look in and see everything and hop a very small balcony and be in your room. This prevents you from leaving large balcony windows open, the whole point on staying on the water. Complete lacking in privacy.

Customer service was great but i feel this hotel needs to be refreshed. i paid too much for a dirty carpet,seems dingy and a funky smell in the room. Rim around the pool looked dirty.

The room was cute inside but there were only 3 floors. They charged for every little thing. They even charged me for water. Valet is 45 per night and no other place to park. The breakfast did was horrible. They charged for breakfast drinks such as orange juice. No options on the breakfast, like you either eat what we cooked or go somewhere to eat. Which we did, we ate other places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had to ask for towels everyday because they don’t give enough when they come clean. When I went to check in they held a deposit of 350 but once they started adding extras, they kept that! First and last time! The pool was so small, no way you can swim in that pool. I thought I was really booking a fabulous room but um no! The pictures don’t add up in real life! Sorry for this review but just keeping it real. I’m from Dallas so I expected to get my money’s worth. The gym wasn’t worth nothing either.

We were visiting our son and his family in Redondo and this place was perfect! Lots to do perfect pool for our granddaughter and the otter pops they presented her with on arrival were a huge hit!

We had an excellent experience here! The food at the restaurant was so delicious! The cocktails were amazing. All the staff at the restaurant/bar and hotel were so friendly and helpful! The views here are breathtaking! We loved the 3rd floor marina facing room. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was clean. There were lots of thoughtful options in the mini bar selection. The roof top pool was a vibe. Loved all the amenities. One beach is much father walking distance so be prepared for that. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and we felt spoiled. We would love to come back sometime!

My only complaint is that the AC doesn’t get cold enough to offset how hot the Tempur-Pedic mattress can get. Maybe they could consider offering fans for added comfort. Considering the other options in Redondo Beach, I would definitely stay here again.

I stay at this property often on my trips to So Cal. Very nice boutique hotel. Reasonably priced and great location to the beach and food options. Was a little shocked to receive a very nice welcome drink only to find out as a guest the next drink is $5! Can you imagine welcoming your guests with a cocktail and charge them if they want a second one!

Good Room is large and clean great shower Restaurant is good Not so great They state bottle of sparkling wine well it’s called Wycliff it’s a twist top and looked it up retails for $5.99 rather have free Evian water Free breakfast comes w amenity fee states $50 value it’s got to be the worse buffet I have experienced first of all no waiter guy said self service you know the drill .. no juice two hot items Fruit wrapped in plastic yuck.. Used to have free parking now it’s $45 valet only even though you can see your car . Don’t bother all the lots literally are next to hotel are max $20 a day and the marina lot has been free for awhile during construction also 5 minutes walk to hotel.. There are only 4 beach cruisers free to use and they were all gone by 8 am … hotel take note shore break in Huntington has 20 bikes free beer and wine happy hour every night free coffee in am for less amenity cost…

Was a beautiful property!

The marina view and bath on the patio was lovely. The only issue on that first floor was the noise. The other guests walking past the room on walk path and the room door, the marina jetty gate slammed regularly and the hotels trolleys rattling past. possibly that floor isn't the best for quiet rest.

Loved the Shade hotel. I’ve stayed in all the hotels in the marina but this is by far the best. Special shout out to Vickie and Oscar - they went above and beyond.

This is my favorite hotel in Redondo Beach. Everything is amazing. There is no comparison.

Second stay at this fantastic hotel. I didn’t realise sea level rooms meant ground floor and someone tried to get in our room at 4am one night (it turns out they had the wrong room!) but apart from this, wonderful stay. Will stay again (on a higher floor next time!).

A lot of hidden fees. Already paid a resort fee then when you arrive you have to pay extra for using the fitness, pool, bikes and a very crappy breakfast. I believe that was &40 per day for 2 people. If you want to park it is an extra $50 per day. That was an extra $90 per night. Our view was beautiful is why a 3star. Request you don’t have housekeeping and the will plant a tree lol yeah right. Then when you do they don’t refill items that you have used coffee creamer wash cloths. Will not stay here again as the hidden fees was ridiculous.

Conveniently located and a quiet location

Staff was amazing and made our stay one of the best staycations to date!

The hotel was amazing. The only thing I would say is the breakfast that comes with the stay was the same everyday.

The valet parking was stupid and felt really overpriced and a waste of my money when my car was 30 feet away in front of me and I would have to wait for it
