Reviews
The hotel reviews are mixed, with guests appreciating the cleanliness of the rooms, comfortable beds, and quiet environment. However, there are consistent complaints about the limited breakfast options, unfriendly staff, and issues with the pool not being available as advertised.

Don't let the outside discourage you the rooms are actually very clean and they have complimentary breakfast which is also cool for me and my young children great stay clean and just comfortable

Breakfast left a lot of room for improvement- bagels toast English muffins and cold cereal, apples bananas and juice that’s it. Not even yogurt. Stingy with clean towels/ wash rags as well. All in all stay was adequate (8 days) but could’ve easily been better.
- 1/5
The man at the front desk was rude when we checked in. The bathroom by the pool at mold in the soap dispenser. The sprinkler systems were molded and rusted. It was dirty, dingy, with a foul smell! A door knob was held on by painters tape.

Free parking, quiet Unfriendly greeting, put in a smoking room...sheets have burn holes, smelled of smoke horribly. Not cleaned very well.

Shower head was not working properly.

The motel itself was clean. Wish the location was a little better, but it was OK. The website that I read said that it was an outdoor pool but when we got there, it wasn’t an outdoor pool. The breakfast was a little lacking. The bananas had brown spots all over them so they weren’t real fresh. There were a couple bagels and some English muffins and cereal and the juice was warm when I took it out of the dispenser. There was no yogurt, so not a lot of options for continental style breakfast and I do have to say, though that the coffee was really good.

Our stay this past weekend was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. The toilet in our room would not flush properly and repeatedly backed up, pushing toilet paper back into the bowl. When we reported the issue, members of the owner's family, who apparently live on-site, came to our room to try plunging it. The problem was never resolved. While my teenage daughter was alone in the room with her friend, the owner's wife and two other female family members began questioning her about how many people were staying in the room. They then told her that if we complained about the toilet again, we would have to leave the hotel. This was completely inappropriate, especially considering she is a minor and was simply dealing with a room maintenance issue that was not our fault. When my husband later spoke with the owner about both the broken toilet and the way his family had treated our daughter, he was frustrated and requested a refund if we were going to be forced to leave because of a plumbing issue caused by the hotel. Only then did the owner suddenly offer to move us to another room. It is concerning that this option was not offered immediately when the issue was first reported. The customer service throughout our stay was rude, unprofessional, and unacceptable. No guest's child should ever be spoken to or treated the way our daughter was.

The owner was...not a very nice person. What I assume is his son was much better and should probably handle the day to day because this place would've gotten flowing reviews if it wasn't for that man.

The Geneva Hotel decor can best be described as “1982 Delhi luxury.” Heavy Indian-style patterns cover every available surface like the room was decorated by someone who won unlimited carpet remnants in a lawsuit settlement. The lighting also deserves recognition for somehow making everything appear slightly damp. The room layout is equally impressive. Electrical outlets are strategically positioned only in locations where human beings would never need them. Need to charge your phone next to the bed? Absolutely not. Want to plug in a blender behind the minibar while kneeling sideways? Perfect. Speaking of the minibar — the door opens directly into the wall, requiring the flexibility of a Cirque du Soleil performer just to store your gas station liquor and emotional support snacks. Now let’s discuss the couch. Words cannot describe how unbelievably lumpy this thing is. It feels less like furniture and more like an abandoned county fair ride. I’m convinced the Geneva intentionally engineered it as a motivational tool, because after sitting on it for 30 seconds, suddenly getting up and doing my taxes sounds more appealing. If you don’t smoke, you’ll smell like you do. Everyone should experience this time capsule to appreciate hotel stays. Enjoy.

The bed and linens seemed clean enough, everything in the room was old and needed to be replaced. The curtains, the lamps, the chairs and the carpeting need to be in the garbage! The water dripping from the ceiling by the elevator. The smell. The run down look of all the furniture. It was just a run down mess and we should not have stayed. I wish I had known this before I booked the room. I had no idea it was going to be like this.
- 2/5
convenient to where I was going for the night. the bed was horrible. Felt like I was sleeping on a gravel road. it felt like a huge pile of rocks. and the room smelled like smoke which was interfering with my asthma. I only stayed 2 hours before I just decided to check out & drove the 5 hours to get home. It wasn't worth trying to sleep with those conditions
- 4.5/5
Attending a concert at Arcada so I just needed a place to stay for the night. Clean, comfortable room. Flat screen TV with remote. Clean bathroom and sink area. You can control the A/C and heat. Quiet place to sleep. In room frig. Check in is kind of creepy with a man behind glass. This hotels has smoking rooms and rooms for pets. Make sure you DO NOT get one of those. Doors are NOT locked into hallways at night so anyone can come in?? Vending area old and sparse. Not much to look at from the outside.

Everything was ok, not great until I noticed a small bug on the bed. Then, another one. Not sure if they were bed bugs but it was enough to concern me. Definitely made sure I took measures to prevent potential spread to my home. Also, there was a giant puddle filled with a gray substance right on the path to the side entry.

the breakfast was adequate for the price point, however I am gluten free and there was nothing GF offered. I am used to this and bring my own GF cereal and used the supplied milk, bowl and spoon. could not get a one bed room that was non smoking. I had to pay 10.00 more for a two bed non smoking room.
- 5/5
Would return. Pleasant accommodations and everything worked as it should. Breakfast could be better, as there were few offerings and insufficient utensils/plates.
- 3/5
Room was fine, hallways were NOT air conditioned. As some room are smoking, the Hotel smelled very stale and old. It was OK for one night for a cheap rate. Sounded like an elephant walking in the room above us. Microwave and Refrigerator were hidden in the cabinets on the wall. A rather small room but again, doable for one night.

The motel was absolutely Charming extremely clean and Mr and Mrs Patel were very welcoming and very nice people especially with Mr Patel's knee being completely screwed up and having to get around on a walker. He apologized for taking an extra maybe 5 Seconds to check me in and I told him I was retired and have nothing but time. This is an older motel but it was very very clean the staff was very nice and we had a very good visit with family and then back to sleep in very comfortable beds. Will stay there again next time I have to go back up

It was okay had no other choice because other venues in my price range were booked it was cheaper than other spots it was clean but still run down 😔 close tho to a places to dine
- 3/5
Average for its price. Fairly clean but dated. Nothing special and employees not very friendly.
- 4/5
Good people, clean room
- 5/5
We stayed there for two nights it was clean. I just wish they would've told us that they don't change his sheets or give us towels. Most places have a sign stating that.
- 1/5
The staff seems poorly trained, as rooms are advertised as non-smoking, yet they are filled with strong odors of cigarette smoke and mold. While visually clean, the rooms and bathrooms feel uncomfortable due to the unpleasant smells, undermining the overall guest experience.
- 3/5
First and foremost, the couple behind the counter were extremely polite, even with me checking in late at night. The gentleman made sure to direct me exactly where my room would be and what hours their breakfast was. The room was ok. They turn the A/C off when no one is using it, so it was a bit warm in there. But, as a homeowner, I understand why they do that so I am not upset about that. The only thing that bothered me was the smell on the 3rd floor. As soon as you get off the elevator, it's like a punch in the face.It wasnt a smell of anything rotten or mildew. It was a cigarette/Marijuana smell. Not the end of the world, but enough to make me shake my head in disappointment. Only other small problem I had with this establishment was the speed bumps. Make sure you pull into the parking lot with something with ground clearance. If not, your car will probably sustain some damage. I would definitely stay here again....If I had limited options.
- 4/5
Nice place fir the price

This hotel is horrible! The lobby is similar to a prison reception area with the front desk literally surrounded by bullet proof glass (the neighborhood the hotel is located in is not a high crime area) and the staff are no friendly at all and they treat you like your subhuman. When I booked the room on Travelocity it said that I dont pay until I get to the hotel but 5 minutes after I booked the room the hotel went into the reservation and charged the card $80.00 more then the price I was quoted online!! the "deluxe" continental breakfast is not even a regular continental breakfast! The food is not fresh and there is a sign on the door that says "no food allowed in rooms". I had a service dog with me and not only did they still charge me $15.00 a night for the dog but they also charged me $100.00 for a "deposit" and then "inspected" the room before they begrudgingly refunded it upon check out. The room smelled horrible, the air conditioning didnt work and the beds were not comfortable at all! I will NEVER stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone
- 3/5
I was looking for a reasonably priced place for a one-night stay. It was adequate, but not ideal. The place seemed reasonably clean, but the room had a musty smell. The were frayed and threadbare in places. There was a continental breakfast, which was absolutely carbohydrate exclusive, with English muffins, bagels, bread for toast, cold cereal, oatmeal, coffee and juices, but absolutely no protein. It was relatively convenient for my purposes, but I doubt that I would stay there again.
- 5/5

Was visiting St Charles for the Wahlburgers party and needed an affordable place to stay. This hotel is absolutely great! Super clean rooms, comfortable beds, large flat screen tv, microwave, coffee pot, great air conditioner... Ya really can't beat that! Also staff were very friendly. The area is very safe, family friendly with lots of shopping and dining options. I would definitely stay here again!

Associate was very rude and took payment but hung up and didn’t let us know if processed so we called again and he didn’t let us speak and hung up again. When we got to the hotel he was upset we didn’t initially mention dog but HOW COULD WE if he hung up on US ! Do better and stop being miserable.

Grungy. Smelled gross. Dusty. Stains on the sheets. Carpet smelled moldy. Didn’t have water in the vending machine
- 4/5
The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Loved having lots of pillows on the bed. Our room was very clean. The front desk person was polite and efficient at check in and check out. Location was easy to get to. Prices were reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. Liked having a refrigerator. Good quality towels and enough of them. Building was older, a bit musty smelling in elevator and hallways, but not in our room. Back entrance was unlocked when we came back from dinner. Would feel safer if it were a locked building. Breakfast was from 6-9, a little too early for us when on vacation! Would be nice to offer it till 10 am

- 3/5
For the most part it was ok. But upon arrival we just didn’t feel welcome and he told me because I had kids they wanted additional deposit. Even though I paid extra per person for the insurance and non hassle….. It was not as nice as the pictures and the area was sus. I wish I would have paid about 25-30 dollars less for the room but……I guess next time I’ll have to read more carefully that this was a motel not a hotel. Not my cup of tea.
- 4/5
Not many options for breakfast. Overall quiet and clean.

Room itself was surprisingly great for a motel. Toilet flusher broke, but it was an easy fix

It have "heated swimming pool " who was cold, the elevator was not working and the receptionist had given us a room at 3rd floor.

The hotel itself wasnt to bad. The staff wasn't the friendly and barmaid was rude. My car was broke into a long with 8 others. Cops said its a every weekend thing there. The security guard they have at night sits in the lobby flirting the night staff. They advertise secure parking and charge extra.

So. I normally bring my own sheets regardless of the hotel I stay at. This hotel had blood stains on the mattress. The sheets felt like paper and you could tell that they did patch work. From a distance the sheets look clean, but there were stains which made me question if they even switched the sheets from last occupancy. Beer bottle caps were found by the bed. I had my children with me, which made it worse. The pool was ok until parts started coming off in the pool and we found paper towels floating in it. The wifi sucks. The housekeeper lady was rude. I had children, toddlers tend to be messy with their food. I asked if they could vacuum and left the sign. They didn't do it to the following day and then had the nerve to criticize as if their hotel was so clean! The entry doors stay open all night. Poor people were walking around and gaining entry to the building! What's the point of a key entry to the building if the doors are unlocked all day and night? Beer bottles all around the building Everytime I came and went. My children and I wanted to leave, but was unable to. We couldn't get out fast enough when we checked out. I would never go back there
- 2/5
For the non-smoker, this stay is like sleeping in an ashtray. The halls reek of smoke. The room reeks. The front desk person was unfriendly. We never received a receipt.... because the printer wasn't working. The outside lights all blare into the side of the building. I would not stay here again.

This is a decent, no-frills affordable hotel with the usual amenities (microwave, fridge, etc.). Not too far of a drive form Kane County Fairgrounds.
- 4/5
Staff was great! We forgot a couple of items and when call was made they checked and called me. We appreciated it!
- 3/5
Elevator was broke, breakfast was extremely limited, lobby smelled like cigarettes.

Easy check in. Convenient to where we were attending a dance competition. Pool was clean and the grandkids enjoyed playing in it. Food nearby. Park nearby. Hotel was older but well kept. Quiet and clean rooms. Parking was convenient to our rooms. Staff was nice. They had a small continental breakfast area, ice machine, vending machines with soda, chips and candy. Rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable, harder than home, but good for a one night stay.
- 5/5
Perfect budget hotel for a night or a weekend. I have no complaints, and I will bookmark it for the next time I visit St. Charles. Hotel and room were clean and you have a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Beds were comfortable and I slept well. Many food options nearby.

This former DAYS INN is a good property to go to if you dont wanna spend 100 bucks on a room. The room was clean, organized and comfortable. Big king bed (but very low to ground) I love the fact YOU can control the temp in the room with heat, A/C or just a fan. Flat screen HDTV with a clean remote. Clean bathroom. Plenty of towels. If you just need a place to crash, its perfect. BUT, the room does not get very dark for sleeping due to parking lights outside. The frig was not very cold at all. If you stay on ground floor you WILL hear people walking above you. I stayed in a room near a stairwell. Not a problem at night but in the morning, alot of noise. Try to get a room AWAY from the lobby. The workout room had mattresses plied in it. Very noisy in morning close to lobby and breakfast area. Breakfast very limited. Walk next door to the restaurant, best breakfast in St. Charles. Area is fine.

There was overflowing garbage cans. Breakfast was meh. Carpeting in our room was old. This place could use some upgrades, but then they would have to raise the price. There is a heated pool. The website does not state this. Pets are allowed for a fee.

One of the most relaxing places in the area, didn’t hear the other guests at all the whole time I was there.
- 5/5
These things matter most to me; I do not care for the latest trends in interior decorating. For some this could be an issue. Things are not new but clean. Some reviews complain about “micromanaging” but a family business needs to run a tight ship to prevent losses and ensure security. In fact, the way it’s run made us feel very safe ( and misbehaving guests are often a real concern in low budget hotels). We will be back in spring.
- 3/5
My duaghter 3 yr old granddaughter stayed for 2 nights just before christmas. The hallways smelled horrible of marijuana badly. When i asked for extra towels the lady at the desk got mad because she said we had enough but a 3 yr old taking a bath makes a mess. Then when we got back from being with family all day christmas eve, the elevators were broken forcing us to take the stairs the smelled horrid. I suffer from severe migraines and the smell of marijuana triggers my migraines and made me throw up. On top of that we had to carry our suitcases and everyrhing down the stairs. When we left that morning at 830am to spend the day with family the elevators worked fine. Also the people hanging out in their cars smoking weed by the back door and the doors to enter the building were broke so anyone could get in. The pool looked so nasty we wouldnt even consider swimming. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. This place needs alot of maintenance and the people at the desk are rude and dont care about the customers. I would not recommend staying here.

Stayed one night and was reasonally priced. Walked in for check-in and the entry way was smokey smelling. Check-in took a while as the attendant talked in a low manner thru a glass-studying my driver's liscense asking questions about it that made me uncomfortable. When we went around back of the building to park, the security door was unlocked-lying ajar. Again, this hallway was smokey smelling. Remarkably, though, the room was very nice, the bed decent, overall clean, and very quiet thru the night.
