Cool place to stay! I didn’t get to enjoy the breakfast cause I had to leave early but it looked amazing. Can’t wait to come back out and try it.

Loved the place… it’s got an old fashioned charm and character . The hotel is incredibly proud of its history which is evidenced throughout the establishment. The rooms have everything you need and the staff are super friendly and welcoming- Dani was on reception most of the time we stayed and was incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and had everything you’d need to start the day right . An absolute gem of a find so glad we stayed

My husband and I stayed at Crystal Bay for almost two months, as we sold our house and we are about to move to a different part of the world, but I had to finish up my work. It was a great experience staying there, it made us feel like home. All the staff are super friendly, just down to the earth; breakfast was amazing; hotel atmosphere was nice, classic and full of taste. We really enjoyed our time while staying there.

Because of the uniqueness of this hotel, the other guests were also the type you didn’t mind sharing spare with. No loud, brash or rude guests. No loud music, children running in the walls or jumping on the beds. No banging doors either. Each woman who worked the welcome desk was well dressed, pleasant, and helpful. We had a little trouble using the self check feature when we arrived but the lovely woman working the desk that day walk right out to our car and helped me check in. THAT is service.

Cleanliness, friendliness, comfort; the surrounding areas were very beautiful and clean, and the hotel's history was interesting.

The property was really clean. It felt like you were staying at Grandma’s house. The breakfast was perfect. The staff was great especially the guy making the eggs. The only thing was the carpet in the hallway smelled. They really need to remove that.

Having said that staff were really understanding and made offers of different rooms but we just did not like it as we prefer more contemporary surroundings - I suppose the clue is in the hotel - it was historic with many original features that didn’t suite us. Five stars to the understanding staff though Thank you!

Overall this is a nice place. It is very charming. Our room was quite large, however smelled very musty. The dehumidifier had to be dumped twice while we were there on our short stay. The breakfast was like any other buffet style breakfast. Frozen bagels, eggs, waffle machine, fresh fruit etc. The staff kept it filled and they were all very nice. I spoke to someone on the phone who was not very patient, helpful, or kind. I had to call at 10 pm about parking g. It was not very clear as to where I could park. I was told in the front there are a few spots, in the back (which is technically the side of the building, and west of the street. As someone who is directionally challenged, this was unhelpful. Make sure you are clear on parking before getting there. All in all it was just fine for our stay.

My favorite part, however, was the view from my big, white, comfortable bed...lovely green palm trees set against a blue sky. Free parking next door, too. I would stay at the Crystal Bay again in a heart beat. ❤️ Thank you!

Place is a bit old, needs may be a change of carpets in the corridors, a bit of renovation would really improve the place and make it shine, but my room was excellent, clean, large king bed, could use a newer mattress, but the one it had was comfortable, clean sheets, AC worked fine. Breakfast area was really good/nice with a very good selection, I know it has a pool that looked good but I was out most of the day at the beach!! Quiet area, close to a couple of places to eat, and supermarket (10 min. Drive). Conveniently located in the St. Petersburg area where you can go up to clearwater (about 45 min.) or go south towads Anna Maria Island area and others or you can go to grill beach which is AWESOME!!! in about 20 min., get there fast and pay for the parking area and you will be off to a beautiful beach.

The hotel staff was very helpful, polite and friendly. An excellent, free Continental Breakfast with an array of choices is served daily. The Crystal Bay Hotel allows one to step back in time and imagine what some of the rich and famous experienced. The interior and grounds are well kept, the rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a small pool, but I did not use it. Instead, I went to the Gulf Beaches. The parking lot and grounds were well lit. Also, all exterior doors are locked at night, but one can enter certain doors using an electronic keypad. Each level of the hotel can be accessed using an elevator or the carpeted stairs. The hotel is non-smoking on the interior. It is equipped with smoke detectors and fire sprinkler heads throughout the hotel. The Crystal Bay Hotel is an experience of what some celebrities experienced. I would consider staying there again.

Absolutely, hands down, the best buffet breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. It's an older property and you have to take that into consideration, floors are unlevel, some piping is exposed. Very quaint property and again, you could not find a better breakfast buffet

A historic hotel in St Pete that is on the National Register, this property has a lot to steward. We wanted something different than the usual chains, which it provided in part. A better breakfast and drinks in the evening would lift the energy and charm of this place.

I brought a friend who only stays in Hiltons.... they would absolutely book here again!! That is the HIGHEST compliment!

Hidden gem. Very historic classic B&B experience. Modernized where it counts but preserved where it matters. Minutes to the beach. The staff made it feel like a stay with family and friends. Will definitely be going back. A+

Staying at Crystal Bay is like stepping back in time. You can feel the relaxed, low key, yet elegant atmosphere once you enter the lobby. The easy access electronic door system is the only reminder that you are not stepping back into the 1930's. You can sense the vibe of when the hotel was built. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff were especially nice and helpful. Breakfast dining on the porch felt like the crazy world around us could wait. The crispy bacon was a smashing success. The next time we visit area we will definitely choose Crystal Bay.

I liked the classic feel of the hotel. It reminded me of a place from the 1950s. The staff were friendlier than chain hotel staff and really made you feel welcome. The breakfast was also good, yet had the same items everyday. I loved the fresh flowers on each table. Only problem is it's in a suburban area away from St Pete activities.

Yes, breakfast was good and a nice variety including hot proteins. We especially liked the cut up fresh fruit and omelets. Enjoyed staying in such a historic hotel for the area. Our only complaint was not having a closer bus stop for going into town (we walked 8 blocks each way).

What really makes this hotel stand out are all the special touches and the kindness of the staff. We were able to pre-register online. This meant we received our room information in advance and went straight to our room when we arrived at the hotel. The doors have number locks so we used the pin they gave us to enter. The breakfast buffet is amazingly fresh, varied, and delicious. Really enjoyed the CRISP bacon!! The fruit was just excellent! Parking is easy and nearby. Really enjoyed our stay.

Historic hotel, quaint and cute. Didn’t realize we would hear so much traffic, so pool area was pretty load. Easy to get to, staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. Would love to see it go through a good first floor renovation and have a bar added.

Absolutely charming!! So perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay. I already booked another stay before I left and have told all my family about it. It’s better than any chain. Amazing breakfast. Rocking chairs everywhere. Butterfly garden is so sweet. And pool is nice. It’s a boutique/historic hotel and so perfect. We traveled to Tampa and back and forth to St Pete Beach and Pass-a-grille (only 12 min away) and the travel was easy.

We appreciated the historic nature of the hotel from the creaking of the wooden floors to sitting on the veranda. The staff were absolutely fabulous and helpful especially Dani at the front desk. Breakfast was a delight to be included, I personally would have preferred variety from day to day. A charming little hotel with great proximity to the beaches. We would definitely return!

We visited for my birthday because of our interest in historic and haunted places. As a disabled couple we greatly appreciate all of the assistance that we received from the staff, especially Kazzandra at the front desk. She was super friendly and helpful throughout the entire stay. Also, the breakfast was amazing! It had a wide selection and was presented nicely. The property has the quirks and character that you'd expect from a building of it's age. As long as you understand and appreciate that, you should be happy.

My husband and I loved our stay here! The room was clean, comfortable, and we loved the breakfast. The staff was also very friendly and we loved how close we were to the beach and even local shops that were walkable. Would definitely stay here again.

The grandeur from an earlier time was preserved. The buffet breakfast served each morning was fresh, delicious, and the chef was so amenable and he even prepared GF breakfasts for my husband who is celiac. The Hotel was quiet and amenities were many, including a beautiful pool with towels and sunscreen supplied, tea and coffee always available, and ice water. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to St Petersburg. We will certainly be returning again and again!

Breakfast choices are very good. Very quiet and comfortable room. It is 100 year old hotel with character, so won't expect Four Seasons. But it is off the beaten pad hotel in almost residential area safe for evening strolls. Happy with our choice to stay there couple of days during our travels.

History of the site was neat. Place was clean but old & some things are showing its age. Breakfast was good. Parking was limited so if you get there later in the evening you’ll be searching for street parking. Surrounding area was okay.

The room was nice and cool and had a lovely veranda/ garden view room with a butterfly garden right outside our room. Our room was, however, constantly damp, so our towels never dried, not even overnight.

Need to call front desk with your cellphone. Electrical outlets not conveniently accessible. No pastries at morning breakfast. Yes it is historic but could use some upgrades. No recommendations for touring the historic homes nearby.

A gym would be a nice touch but the residential area is very walkable and safe for morning walks. Planning to return.

Beautiful older, but beautifully maintained hotel. Staff are exemplary & go out of their way to assist with anything you might need. Two things that would greatly contribute are: a small bar and beach chairs, as beach chairs & umbrellas are costly to rent at the beaches.

I was not sure what to expect from a place that is a Bed and Breakfast but has Hotel in the name. I was intrigued by the history and the reviews looked good so we booked it. What a great choice.This hotel had all the charm and intimacy of a B&B. The staff was friendly and engaging, always looking for ways to make our stay better. It is in a walkable area near vintage stores, a wonderful coffee shop and a a beautiful park and area to fish across the street. We sat on the veranda and had drinks with our friends, and met other travelers. The breakfast was excellent! Eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausages, hashbrowns, oatmeal with toppings, any bread you could want… truly amazing offerings for a free breakfast. I would absolutely recommend ! And hope to be back to stay again. Kathy and Jennifer at the front desk were so welcoming, friendly and helpful.

I liked the easy timely contactless check-in, all very smooth. Meeting the staff was much more pleasurable, from Cassandra at the front desk to the house cleaning staff friendly and professional services, Mr.Burns GM, and of course Jesse Lee who quickly came to my aid when I left a phone in friends car and worked with me calling, texting, and just getting it done as quickly and smoothly as possible while fixing my shower which simply need a turn of a bracket. The breakfast buffet was great! Fresh, abundant, tasty. Coffee and tea service 24/7. Rooms larger than average and good pillows, mattress and linens. I loved strolling along Boca Ciega Bay or finding little coffee houses like Mrs. G's! Treasure Island right over the causeway... John's Pass, Mad Beach just laid back and really good food at Scullys on the water. Will return for the ease, hospitality and a bit of old Florida charm at the historic hotel.

Clean large room, easy access on the main floor, healthy options for breakfast, friendly and helpful staff; one drawback was we were on the pet friendly floor (I didn't realize that when I booked and had requested a verandah room) and we occasionally were woken by dogs barking in the hotel.

Grounds inside and out is stunning. Computer area along with puzzles and games available for guests. They host a senior bridge area a few times a week for them to have a place to play since their current area had been affected by the hurricane. Coffee/teas are offered daily until 9pm for coffeeholics is a nice touch! Breakfasts are served on dishes, hlassware and silverware— NO PAPER PLATES or PLASTIC! Pool is not heated but ot a deterrent. We would definitely recommend staying here and plan to return the SPB area!!

All of the staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming, especially the front desk hostess. Our room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast in the morning was perfect for us with lots of choices. We enjoyed sitting on the quiet porch to eat and plan our day. We highly recommended this gem of a place.

Not thrilled the first nigt with the room we were provided with, but after speaking to the wonderful front desk associate the hotel made up for it….Providing my partner and I with a wonderful room. What we liked, not your typical cookie cutter hotel. We will definitely go back.

This hotel is a step back in history from the 1920’s. They are most welcoming, almost like you family. The breakfast room is excellent.

Check in after hours was great. Classic hotel with all the charm and nuances you expect from that heritage. Similar in preservation reminded me of old National Park hotels. Friendly staff and very nice grounds. Breakfast met expectations but did not exceed them. Excellent value and location to the beaches. Would recommend for the value received without hesitation.

We enjoyed a quick stay at this historic hotel. It had a great continental breakfast. We look forward to staying again soon.

Easy check in and check out process! Friendly environment. We've been staying here whenever we come into the area since the pandemic. This place is a dog-friendly hotel with specific rooms who are traveling with their fur ones.

Very nice hotel locate beside the sunset park. Also drive few minutes can see sunrise too. Not far from Tyrone square shopping mall . There is no laundry which is not convenient.

I can’t say enough great things about our experience! From the moment we checked in until the moment we left everything was amazing! We were greeted with a welcoming smile by the hostess and even though she was busy, she politely took the time to answer our many questions about everything from haunted tales (there were none) to the breakfast menu. The room was lovely! It was a blast from the past with two rooms that were connected by an adjoining door. The rooms were clean and homey. It felt like we were staying in the house of a wealthy relative. The breakfast was a delight! Again, it was a very homey and comfortable vibe. The food was fresh and there was a lovely variety of fresh cut fruit and protein options. Everyone in the family found delicious options! The hotel is a remodeled old hotel with old-school charm. The floor in the hallway might have a slight bump and the carpet may be a bit worn in some spots, but in exchange you get an experience that you don’t get anywhere else! We were only there for one night, but we would have loved to stay longer if time permitted. If you are looking for a comfortable spot with a down-home vibe with old-school charm where guests are treated to a guest-focused blast from the past, you have found it!

There was a nice variety at the buffet and an omelet/fresh egg offering. I always like the old elegance of this establishment, like staying in a gentler, more soothing time. My only displeasure was my pillows/bedding reeking of marijuana. 4 pillows, clean cases, but all 4 whiffy. I must remember to bring my own pillows next time.

We really enjoyed this hotel, we were only here 1 night as we're riding through. I booked this last minute (within 1 day) on Expedia and we chose this because we knew it was walkable to a bar/restaurant and rather than a chain hotel, this had some history/old style architecture we enjoy. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The building is old, that's why we're there. It's got charm, history, character; if you want fancy new everything, don't stay here. I did not smell any musty scent as previous reviews stated, but I'm used to older buildings. It was very clean, and the small little touches in the room like a gift bag w/ water/snacks, printed history of the building (the door hangers were the BEST) were the extras making it unique. I also love that they provide additions like a black face towel for makeup and disposable makeup wipes! The location itself has several lovely places you can sit outside, and inside has been decorated in the old style with memorabilia of it's history. Breakfast was what I would consider standard for a nicer hotel but good with lots of options. The only thing I didn't like was the check in which is all digital, we're on a bike it was hard and there was no info on whether if we didn't check in that way we'd have an issue at arrival, which we would NOT have had someone mans the front all the time, but we didn't know that, BUT having codes for entry to everything was very nice as we were arriving late. We would def stay here again!!!

Just a relaxing place to stay. The rooms and common areas were clean, staff friendly, a nice breakfast (especially the crispy bacon) and overall very comfortable. It felt like we stepped back in time.

Enjoyed a long weekend at crystal bay. Good location, convenient to Pinellas Trail and Treasure Island. Historic but didn’t feel old. Solid breakfast (though it is the same every day). Slept well, a few different kinds of pillows. Recommended.

The breakfast was great! The cook would make your eggs to your desire. I got up to go get another glass of water and he was already bringing one to me. Rooms were unique and clean. The staff was literally the friendliest staff I've ever encountered, and I travel a lot with my basketball team.

Ac workes really well, breakfast was great, the room was clean, i just needed a bigger bed and the shower handle was broken, i had to hold the shower head in my hand, and the room didn't have blackout curtains, just blinds and i could out though the side of them while sitting on the couch, was very uncomfortable with that.

Well, The property was not up to the standards as marketed. First of all I have never been in a Hotel as it is called, without a bar. That's how you have a vibe. Secondly, It was so called renovated in 1958 and it is still 1958 as it was a senior citizens residence as it still fills like. So called in 2015 became a spiritual retreat, healing and provides spiritual growth. There were no inferences to programs that would promote that. All in all. This could be a faboulous place but not up to expectations. :((

website video showed a lovely veranda with chairs which was part of my final decision to stay here....coffee early in the morning. On arrival the veranda had a sign posted that it was only available to guests with rooms off the veranda...the rest of us had to wait until 11 am. Disappointing particularly as I never saw anyone out there in the mornings

The nice lady doing breakfast let us come in a few minutes early because we had an early appointment and would not get breakfast otherwise and we really appreciated it.

This was such an inspiring stay! A piece of St Petersburg history restored. The food here was your standard fare for a B&B, you can order cooked to order eggs, omeleted etc. Fresh fruit was avaialbe and the coffee wasnt bad. The rooms are nicely appointed, the beds are comfortable, and clean. We were in town for a funeral and this gave us a comfortable place to land at the end of each busy day. I will stay here again. Thank you to the care team, for 4 days of hospitality and kindness.

For being over 100 years old, this facility was in good shape. It had a very nice size room. The staff was extremely friendly and it is located very close to the Pinellas travel where we went biking.

ADA elevator is next to the smoking section outside, not too good, because I have allergies and asthma. I must hold my breath while I wait for the elevator. Other doors by the smoking area are propped open and the smoke fills the hotel hallways.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Location is lovely and parking is a breeze. Breakfast was delicious.

Overall, a good place to stay in St Pete. The Bad: it is OLD... not old, fancy, and majestic, just old. The sink clogged up. There was no dresser, just a big open area where a dresser should have been. The shower head was loose and didn't work very well. It's on a busy, noisy street. The Good: the staff was FANTASTIC; friendly and helpful. They brought me a dresser! Breakfast was also GREAT. Jesus, the breakfast man, was friendly and helpful. Finally... I think I'll look for another place to stay next time, given the old, worn-out feel. But again, the staff was great.

Old Florida. Not many places like this around anymore! I absolutely loved this hotel, and all the history behind it. They also have a wonderful continental breakfast, which I feel like is beyond just a continental. Everything was perfect.

This place was amazing! While, yes it is older, it is kept in excellent condition. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Pool was very clean as well. Would absolutely stay here again!

I absolutely loved this hotel. I booked it because it had a good rate and no parking or resort fees. I didn’t realize I was staying in a piece of history. I found this place by accident but can’t wait to stay again. Every single person we encountered from cleaning staff, front desk, dining we were met with smiles and were treated like family. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

This is a historic property from the 1920s and this was my second stay, the first in a veranda room. I truly enjoyed it and plan to stay again. I like how they offer breakfast, and have ample and welcoming lounge space downstairs. There's always tea, coffee, hot chocolate available, the chairs are comfy, and I chatted with some very nice people, both visitors and staff.

It is historic but also quite dated and had a few maintenance issues that need attention. The toilet in our room was cracked three ways. It made me very nervous and looked like it had been glued back together. Peeling paint, cracked and patched tile in bathroom. Breakfast was included and was a nice buffet.

The towels, sheets and pillows were very high quality. The breakfast was the amazing. It had scramble eggs and cheese and egg omelette. Fresh fruits, yogurt, 2 types of waffles (original and cinnamon) bread, bagles, and all the other items found in regular hotels. The pool was very clean. The service was superb. If you are thinking about this hotel, book it! You won't be dissappinted

This was my stay to celebrate my birthday in June, it is a historical documented bed n breakfast hotel and breakfast, the dining area was really decent buffet style, it was quiet and discovered a few celebrities once graced this property, very close to treasure island beach and restaurants.. The staff was very nice too.

Sheets were a little scratchy but that's it. Everything else was fine for an older hotel.

The overall staff was inviting and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast is great, good options. My only complaint is, i wish the serve turkey beacon. Everything else is perfect.

The room was clean, spacious and included a microwave and refrigerator. The towels were fluffy and clean the amenities in the room were abundant. Staff were friendly and had a plethora of information on places to visit and restaurants to try. The area felt safe and the grounds of the hotel are immaculate.

The breakfast is excellent and with lots of variety and sets you up for the day. There is always coffee and water available all day and night which is handy. The rooms are spotless clean by all the excellent ladies always smiling and helpful and I mean clean with towels and linen changed and refreshed on a daily basis. Crystal Bay is in a great position and very central for all the beaches and local amenities and parking is excellent and plentiful. This hotel is special, I've stayed in many hotels and very few of them are this friendly and homely we where very sad to leave and one day will return. A big thank you to all staff and also patrons whom made our stay so memorable.

Had a lot of personality, a very homey feel it reminds me of my grandpa's house in a good way. Cute “welcome” decorated into the blanket, along with free extra amenities available to grab whenever.

Staff are great and very helpful from Jennifer the manager and Jose who prepares delicious homemade breakfast everyday to everyone we interacted with. Just want to mention that the spacious room we stayed in was on top floor and AC wasn’t cooling off the room enough, specially the kitchenette area. I’d also recommend having a small closet or chest in the room.

It’s a nice place to stay. The staff it’s really nice and friendly. I needed a crib for my baby and they put it in my room right away. The only thing that we didn’t like it’s the smell in the elevator and the hallway, it smells like old wet. Other than that nice place.

I didn’t know what to expect when staying at a hotel with a historic designation, but I was pleasantly surprised. The aesthetic and visuals of the hotel from when it was more relevant are preserved; it feels like it was made to be a time capsule of sorts for everything except for the important modern updates (plumbing, flat screen TVs in rooms, etc.). Wonderfully delightful staff, always helpful and attentive. The room itself was much more spacious than I anticipated. The complimentary breakfast had tons of options every morning: eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, waffle maker, muffins, toast, bagels, fresh fruit. And every time we left our room we came back to our beds tidied up and our linens and toiletries refreshed with nice note from staff. I have two small boys (7 and 5) and they had plenty of room to hang out and not feel cramped. Me and my family felt overwhelmingly taken care of and we would love to stay here again given the chance.

Such a lovely hotel with a touch of history where I had a great stay for just one night. Although the building is aged, it has all the amenities I need, such as free parking, a platform lift, a cooler filled with ice bags, free coffee and ice/hot water and a pool, etc. Plus, bed was comfy and breakfast was excellent.

Drawbacks are it’s really close to a busy road so you get a decent amount of trafffic noise.

Our stay was nothing short of exceptional! The hotel is an historic building with loads of character, and even though it was an older building, it did NOT have a rundown feeling. As you enter the main lobby, you are greeted by friendly staff. Kazzandra at the front desk greeted us and we immediately felt welcome. The room was clean and well furnished. The bed was too firm for our liking, and we mentioned that to Kazzandra. Unfortunately, they were booked full and could not move us to another room. Later that day however, she caught up to us and offered a mattress topper and the staff had that on our bed when we came back from sightseeing. The remainder of the nights were wonderful. Their breakfast is also top notch. Real scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, fresh fruit and a variety of other choices included with the stay. The pool was small but nice, and even though they were booked full, we often had it to ourselves or shared it with only one or 2 other guests. There are so many quaint little things that made our stay enjoyable there isn’t space for me to mention them all. You’ll have to discover them for yourself. 5-star feel without the 5-star price tag! A must stay, and we will certainly be back!

Good hotel

This is a charming, historic property in "old" St. Petersburg, near the public beaches and off Central, the old main street. It's easy to walk out to reach places like Walgreens/c-stores, and it's a great price! The service wasn't 'cheap', it has a small pool, and it's well maintained. I loved the veranda, the dining room (brekkie included) and the ELEVATOR (modern). My room had a basic parking lot view, but that's the hazards of booking late. Hotel seemed full on Friday night but there was no noise!

Check in was very fast and simple. Room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Will definitely stay again!!

Nice historic building with large rooms. The sleep sofa was positioned in a way that made it imposible to get off the bed. Parking is difficult and no charging stations for EVs. There are plenty of good places to eat but the included breakfast is not one of them. Central location and great to sleep and shower.

Beautiful property, clean, kind staff.

The Staff made our stay wonderful. They helped and made us comfortable the entire time. Truly a great place and very nostalgic.

This is a clean and well maintained property with historic character and modern convenience and amenities. The staff are available when you need them and are friendly &helpful while not overbearing.

Always nice to stay here. Great location, excellent fresh breakfast. The rooms are spacious, bed and pillows very comfortable and everything very clean

The fact that the hotel is older, added to the charm of the place. Housekeeping did a good job on the room, although I didn't have a chance to interact with them during our stay. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff was very personable and had great hot food and plenty of variety of choice for the everyday breakfast. Breakfast area was large and that's nice to not be crammed together when eating breakfast. I enjoyed the fresh cold water and coffee that is available in the main area during most of the daytime hours. Though not oceanfront, this hotel is still a short drive to stores, local beaches and dining. I did not use the pool as we went to the beach and we're out at other places. But the pool area was clean.

For a hotel that is over 100 years old it is amazing. Great renovations and very spacious rooms. Great friendly staff and a top notch stay.
