Breakfast was great!! Mostly. Fruit was apples (fine apples) and bananas. On our day #2, bananas ran out. No bananas. Additional fruit would have been nice. How about fruit cups? Not much, except additional fuit.

One of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in, from the parking lot to the lobby breakfast area and elevators to the room. Staff was courteous. Breakfast was fresh and warm.

Nice clean rooms, happy there was a sofa bed to accommodatemy family of 5. The breakfast was great and glad the pool was open early so we could swim before leaving for the day. I have 4 kids ages 12-19 and they were all happy with the accommodations. I was surprised at the parking fee. It should be included with the room price.

Charging $5 for parking was an insult. Everyone in the check-in line complained about it. Just raise the room rate $5 and no one will care.

The room was big and clean. I was glad to find the fitness room with multiple machines, clean with lots of light. The only negative I found was I was charged for parking in the hotel parking lot. I was not told about it. I happened to overhear someone talking about it. When I asked they verified that it was true. It wasn't much, but I feel it should have been mentioned prior to charging me. Not sure why I need to pay in their parking lot as a guest in their hotel.

Location was about 30 minutes from event at UVA. Easy access and readily accessible to major highways. Did not appreciate having to pay $5 each night for parking. Should be included.

The food was not hot and the eggs were terrible. Oatmeal, English muffins would have been nice. Our king bed was WAY TOO SOFT MUSHY - terrible for my back. STOP CHARGING FOR A PARKING SPACE!!! That was the first time I have EVER had to pay for a parking space at a hotel.

This hotel is a 5 star all around. Special kudos to Kelsey at check-in. She has an authentic welcoming spirit. Our room was perfect in every way. The breakfast was nice, but could be improved by adding gravy for us Southern folks. Check out was quick. I highly recommend this location.

This is a new hotel, so it is stil in great condition. Staff was helpful. Did not like that they were charging for self-parking. This was a first for me at a highway motel. Breakfast was the usual fare, without cooked oatmeal. The coffee was very good. My only complaint was with Expedia. I had ro cancel the second night of a two night reservation. Expedia's online virtual agent was useless. Finally, I was able to chat with a person. He was difficult to work with and it took much longer than it should have until we approved cancellation of the second night.

Receptionist at the front desk did her duty, but was more grumpy than one would wish for after a day of traveling. The room was clean.

Over night stay was quiet and comfortable

We stopped here for one night on our way home from Florida. It was quiet and clean and comfortable. Exactly what we needed. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of items including eggs, sausage, potatoes and pastries. Coffee was good too!

We were exhausted from a long drive. The hotel was clean and quiet. Checking in was a breeze and they had plenty of luggage carriers to offload our vehicle. Breakfast was great and coffee machine fresh ground beans before brewing. First one I've seen. All in all, wonderful oasis for weary travelers.

The property and our rooms, including the floors in the bathroom, were extremely clean. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast had hot food choices - the warm cinnamon rolls were thick and very good!

Overall, a great spot to stay of your looking for a place to break up a long journey.

The property is brand new, clean and the staff are very nice. However, a parking fee at a hotel ina rural area off of the interstate next to nothing but a car dealership is ridiculous. Would not stay there again.

The staff is very friendly. I was there for three nights, it would have been nice if housekeeping would clean the room at least once just to refill the towels and toilet paper. But instead, I had to go down to the front desk to ask for it. Then there’s the stink bugs. The last day I was there, they kept coming out of the walls

I’ve stayed here a number of times as it’s the perfect location for a routine trip I make between DE and AL. Staff are always courteous, prompt, efficient and a pleasure to see again. Property is maintained to perfection in cleanliness.

So, upon checking in we were informed that there was a $5 parking fee, per day, to use the 1/2 empty parking lot. This location was in the middle of nowhere, in Staunton VA. Then, on the Monday we were to check out, the breakfast buffet ran out of food, at 7:30. No milk, no bagels, no eggs, no pancakes, no fruit, no cinnamon rolls (which is their named brand item). The front desk staff apologized but did not offer any type of compensation or points for the next stay (which will never happen). Fitness room was big, but no towels on Monday, no water, no working TV on any machines. This property was recently renovated, so it looks nice but the service is poor.

This is a fairly new/refurbished motel so it was in very good condition. The room was clean and comfortable. However, two things really made the stay less than ideal. First, there is a $5.00 per day parking fee. There was a tractor trailer that took up about 10-12 spaces. I asked if they were charged extra and was told "no," it was a flat fee charged to no matter the size of the vehicle. The building is not located in a densely populated area so it's not like land/space is limited. Must be some pencil-neck in management trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of their customers. Also, we stayed for two nights. When we returned to the hotel after being out all day, we found there had been no room service, i.e. trash wasn't emptied, no clean towels, in-room coffee service not replenished. When we asked the manager why, she stated they only provide room service after the second day! None of this is noted on the website or the booking confirmation emailed. We did get clean towels but had to ask for them at the front desk. Pretty shabby treatment of guests. Will I use Holiday Inn again? Not likely.

Monday morning, breakfast was much better, No room service because of the green policy, but that was OK, because the price of the room was excellent. If we would have needed something the hotel personnel would have easily and gladly provided it. Overall very good stay. 👍

Updated rooms have total black out shade with groves on the sides to prevent 'light leaking ' around the sides, love that! Walk in shower has built-in foot rest for us women, love that too! The thermostat was very easy to understand and work. Wish all the HIE'S had these types of amenities!

Was very nice, new hotel smell. Breakfast was really nice. Keurig type coffee in room. 24 hour coffee dowstairs. Super comfy bed and pillows choice. Only negative is very slippery tub. Need to fix that, old folks need security. Stayed on suite, good tv reception, good heating and cooling. Well insilated, didnt hear neighbors at all. Would stay again and bring bath mat.

Breakfast has better options and a wider selection than most, oh! Did mention the showers ( Best Everrrrr!)

The property was fabulous but unlike the stay earlier in the week, the clerk that checked us in was negative and unaccommodating; maybe she was just exhausted after a long day but she said, “you’re just lucky to have a room at all, all of the hotels in the area are full.” When I pointed out that my room rate was higher than my friend who checked in at the same time - I was met with disinterest and complacency. A more compassionate response would have gone a long way. Her attitude tarnished an otherwise perfect stay - the room and the freshness of the facility were wonderful. I recognize that the current business acumen is complicated by the prevailing work ethic but it makes me appreciate folks who express good customer service.

We enjoyed the pool and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The elevator wasn’t working properly, but we were on the 2nd floor. Our door for our room had a gap which let light into our room. The shower didn’t drain properly so the tub filled up quickly when showering. Breakfast was just okay. Pancake machine was broken.

Nothing was mentioned about cleaning services so we left our trash outside the door on the 3rd day. Otherwise all the amenities and clean, quiet.

Such a wonderful experience, vs the hotel on our way down to our vacation. Beds were comfortable, staff very helpful. Our TV remote didn't work well. Called the front desk and they brought up fresh batteries. Problem solved.

This was our first Holiday Inn Express stay of our trip and we enjoyed it so much we picked HIE locations every night they were available! I appreciated the consistency of the room layouts, the check in process and the breakfast was full of great options. My only negative is the pool hours. Parents of tween/teen travelers could use a few more hours to let their kids get a break from traveling by swimming before bed.

One of my favorites this vacation

Checked in at front deck, went to the room and it had not cleaned at 3:30 pm. House keeping was just outside of room and I told him I was going to leave my luggage just inside the room out of the way and I would be back in a little while as not to be in his way. When I returned to room an hour later it was cleaned, but luggage was gone. I went to front desk and luggage was there, but part of the items that had been sitting on top of the luggage was missing. Woman working the desk was very friendly, but was not at all helpful in correcting the situation. Stated that she didn’t normally work the desk and she would notify management. Never heard anything more. Incompetent from management down. Hotel was clean and comfortable though. Won’t be staying there again; the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.

From the moment we set foot on the property until the time we departed, the entire staff was incredible in all aspects of hospitality and efficiency. The two young ladies, that worked the front desk during our stay were so pleasant and capable, that they were an absolute joy to interact with, even despite a couple of special requests. They had wonderful recommendations about places to eat, and we’re engaging in their conversation about the local area. They made us feel at home from the very moment we arrived. They are to be commended for being great assets to your hotel. If there is one area of criticism, it would be the snack area adjacent to the front desk. I almost fainted when I found out that two small bottles of water cost me $12, and a small package of donuts and a tiny bag of Fritos corn chips were also in excess of $12. I felt this was a bit excessive.

From the time I walk in until the time I walk out, Amazing services delivered by a very tall African American man and a Caucasian young lady ! Over the top services !! I don't know their names but I will get it at my next stay ! I work out of town and this has always been my hotel of choice ! Thank you for your hospitality !! :)

Everything was very good. This negative is such a little thing and can so easiy be corrected. The breakfast was delicious; however, the plasric utensils are almost useless. The knife bends when trying to cut the sausage.

The lady that checked, Ezinne was excellent and the day was wonderful. The food was very good in the morning and the person at the food station was very polite and seemed to be a very committed

Just a quick overnight stay. Pull out couch was terrible. Need new mattresses. We would not stay again in a room we needed to utilize.

Overall property was excellent. Only issue no grab and go breakfast. We were leaving at 6:20am and breakfast was opening at6:30 BUT would not give us a grab and go breakfast. That’s not right considering we paid for breakfast included and good hotels have grab and go for early Travellers. You let us down on this !!!

Clean, quiet and comfortable

This was our first experience with HI Express. We were pleasantly surprised! The layout of the room was well thought out and it was obvious that the hotel had been recently renovated. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a full breakfast, not just continental. The rate was reasonable. We've decided to make this our hotel for when we visit Staunton.

This Holiday Inn Express is quiet, clean and the staff is extremely kind and helpful. The only blip was that only one elevator was working which caused people to wait a little longer to get to their rooms. However once it is fixed all will be awesome!

This hotel is really great but is seriously understaffed. I was 2nd in line and my room was ready, but there was a lineup behind me of about 10 people, one person manning the desk and rooms were not all ready at 330 pm.

Very Nice, the whole hotel seems to have been very nicely updated. It has clean lines, modern style. Eg large floor tile in the bathroom, modern faucet. Light wood furniture in the bedroom. Lobby/breakfast area has nice tables, choice of regular and high top. The elevators are large clean and modern with larger style floor tiles. We did not use it but there was also a nice little mini kitchen area.
