Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the valet-only parking, noise levels, and breakfast options.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Valet-only parking can be inconvenient and expensive
- Noise levels can be high due to nearby BART train and parties

Great service
- 5/5
This hotel is a gem! Super nice staff who are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Very quiet and breakfast was great!
- 5/5
The valet guy was super quick and friendly, front desk staff was very polite and morning breakfast was better than expected 😎
- 2/5
Hotels.com didn't disclose that parking would be $35 extra. So the hotel cost more than I expected. Last time I'll trust the rates Hotels.com publishes.
- 5/5
The location was great for traveling throughout the bay area. The rooms were clean and comfy. The breakfast could have had more fresh whole food choices.
- 3.5/5
The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable. The shower was good, the bed was comfortable, and the valet parking was well arranged. However, we were quite disappointed with a few things during our stay. The breakfast was not good. Everything was served on cardboard plates and in cardboard cups, which felt very cheap for a hotel. The variety was also quite limited, and the eggs seemed to come from some kind of premix, which did not taste good at all. Overall, the room itself was good, but the service, breakfast, and luggage assistance were disappointing. This really affected our experience. Another issue was the lack of luggage trolleys. We arrived in the evening with quite a lot of luggage and asked several times for a trolley to bring our bags upstairs. Unfortunately, none were available. In the end, we had to carry all our suitcases to the room one by one. Later, we found out that the trolleys were apparently being kept inside guest rooms, which should not happen. Hotel staff should actively manage this. The staff also came across as rather lazy and did not really take action. The next day, when we were leaving, we again asked for a luggage trolley and had to wait around 20 minutes. Eventually, someone brought a small hand truck, which is not really suitable for a hotel. In the end, I decided to carry all the luggage down to the car myself.

Location: 5 minute walk to BART and downtown Walnut Creek. Breakfast has a good selection and good quality. Bed was comfortable. We had a room with a door to an adjoining room. While it was solidly locked, it let noise in from next door. And of course next door was a 2 year old who yelled, laughed, and talked very loudly. We finally had to knock on their door and ask them to not have loud playtime in the room every evening (e.g., dad monster and screaming child games).
- 5/5
The staff was awesome!! Really great and made my family and I feel very comfortable from the moment we arrived. From the valet to the front desk, the cleaning service and the breakfast staff. You that breakfast was amazing! Like seriously caught me off guard. The waffle i had was huge!! Felt so guilty for finishing it lol. Will for sure return. The location was so good. 20 minutes to Oakland, 40 minutes to Marin, and like 25 minutes to Berkeley. Overall 20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2 things I did not like. First thing that I did not like was that I could not tip the valet service upon check out. Second thing was that the room was really stuffy. Wish there was a little more ventilation. Even with the AC on it was stuffy

Location was fantastic, and the room was the perfect set up. The shower was slippery - my one-year-old fell a couple of times when trying to bath her. Also, the pot for the coffee maker was missing.

The hotel room was well laid out. It had a sofa bed that was surprisingly comfortable and a king. Perfect for our family of three. The bathroom was nice and clean. The breakfast had a ton of options for everyone and it was hot and fresh. Overall we would stay here again.
- 4/5
Clean very clean The valet i like to self park when ever possible. Also we came back to the hotel at 11:00 pm I parked in front knowing as valet person would take the car . But as uninformed person came out of nowhere and asked for the key . She didn’t identify herself as the valet. She was wearing a black hoodie and black sweat pants. We had to go inside and ask the desk manager if she was the valet. It made my wife feel uncomfortable.

The room was beautiful and kept clean, bed was decent comfort. Breakfast was good as well, the only disappointment was that the hotel only has valet parking and no public.
- 3/5
The room's windows were VERY dirty... I get that it's the fifth floor and hard to reach, but the Mount Diablo view was mentioned as a premium value. Also, we had to leave a day early because of the unexpected death of a family member. As we were rushing out the door I asked the desk clerk if we could PLEASE have a partial refund. It didn't show up on the final bill, even though we left at 11am leaving plenty of time to prep the room for the next arrivals at 3pm.
- 5/5
Its conveniently located.
- 5/5
All good. Incidentals are $200
- 4/5
Negatives: The valet parking charge of $35+taxes per night was excessive. There was no other option for onsite parking, so it’s pretty much a mandatory fee. The mattress was too firm for my liking. I tossed and turned all night. All in all I’d stay here again and recommend it to others.
- 5/5
Amazing! Will stay again!
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay. Everything as it should be.
- 4/5
Clean room and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean spacious room located in the heart of Walnut Creek. Conveniently near restaurants and bars and downtown shopping. Friendly staff and breakfast in included. Theres is valet or self parking on the street but you have to pay the meter
- 4/5
Upon arrival, didn’t receive welcome gift, nor did I get info about breakfast. Shower was extremely slippery Shampoo and soap were the same - both were soap
- 5/5
Nice clean rooms, good breakfast.
- 3/5
First of all, beware I was fooled by the picture of the pool thinking this was an amazing outdoor pool and it was a picture of Magic Mountain. That was the only reason I booked this place for my kids. When I showed up and realized this was false advertising. I tried to get a refund or moved to a different Sister hotel, and they would not let me. The indoor pool was loud and small. There are not any activities for kids to do at the hotel there’s no outdoor space. There is not an oven in the room as advertised in the room photo. There is no way to order food at all at the location. The buffet breakfast was the highlight of our trip, the kids loved it and it was really good. The staff was really sweet and helpful. At the hotel is more for a business travelers. I would assume that for families and kids so if you’re going with a family, I would recommend a different hotel.
- 4/5
Perfectly stay at Residence Inn. Were in town for a weekend retreat. The room was large and had a small kitchen in it as well as small living room. Dishwasher. Beautiful view of Mt. Diablo. Quiet room at end of the hall. Valet service was fast and friendly.
- 4/5
The breakfast menu was good. All fresh
- 5/5
Very accommodating staff. Wonderful clean room. Excellent breakfast: waffles, eggs, coffee, oatmeal bar. Yum!

- 5/5
Very nice place, spacious rooms.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, nice, clean, large rooms.
- 5/5
This was our 3rd visit and it went well as expected. We will book here again in the future. Thank you.
- 3/5
Hotel was great, room was in great condition. However, hotel stated it was pet friendly how ever it required a $125 pet deposit with no reimbursement after everything checked out. Had to valet car unless you wanted to park out in the street. Will not be staying again
- 5/5
Lovely as always
- 5/5
Always amazing! We have collectively spent a couple months at this location! Love the staff! Especially the breakfast attendant is an absolute sweetheart and the food is amazing! The Valet guys are a joy to see and always remember us! The front desk changed my room to one we liked better! Only complaint is having to add another deposit if we extend.
- 2/5
The room was drenched in bleach. I understand but damn. We all had headaches so we left the room for majority of the night with the a/c unit running so the room can air out. The pillows are softer than baby poop so it was uncomfortable. TVs are old
- 5/5
Delicious breakfast, clean room, friendly staff, ideal location for the BART and the city bus.
- 3/5
The room missing body lotion and the shampoo and hair conditioner should be better quality.
- 5/5
Very nice people and very nice service.
- 5/5
Yes room was great except we had to wait until 5pm for our check in since room was not cleaned we wait idc in lobby for 2 hours
- 5/5
Front office manager was fantastic and the room was very clean. Thank you!
- 5/5
all was great!
- 3/5
I was there accompanying a friend in memory care so we got a 1 bedroom so we could each have privacy but so I could be close if needed. Though the set up had a lot of potential, it was poorly designed with doors that almost hit each other, very poor placement of lighting and a VERY uncomfortable sofa bed.
- 5/5
The valet daily charge is a bit high. But the valet is efficient.
- 5/5
Everyone was super friendly and it was a beautiful stay. Valet parking is $35 so just a heads up.
- 5/5
Everything was exactly what we wanted.
- 5/5
Staff and cleanliness
- 5/5
The property was fantastic! Great downtown Walnut Creek location and close to everything. Really clean room and better than average Marriott breakfast. Mina at the front desk was great checking us in and correcting an Expedia issue. This will be my new go-to Bay Area hotel.
- 5/5
The rooms, building, and amenities were all top notch. The staff although was the highlight of the trip. Everyone from the manager, front desk to housekeeping were what made my trip special. I would highly recommend this establishment and will be back again.
- 5/5
Room was great and staff was very helpful
- 1/5
The buffet was non-existent.
- 5/5
I like the breakfast the food was nice and warm. I love the little waffles. It’s a good way to share them. Everything was nice and clean.
- 4/5
Good room and amenities. Breakfast could be better, but it is fine. Overall a good experience.
- 3/5
There seemed to be a prob
- 1/5
The room was missing bedding for the pullout bed. I asked the front desk twice for it, but it never came, and finally just brought it up myself. There were dozens of used tissues in the drawers. The heater didn't work for 2 or the 3 nights we were there. I asked them to fix it but the fix only lasted a few hours. The key cards are very unreliable. We had to change ours about 4 times, and we often saw other guests struggling to card into the elevator.
- 4/5
Good quality accommodations, clean and ready for use. Didn't like the compulsory valet parking - this was a surprise!
- 3/5
Staff was overall courteous. 3 stars because my room wasn’t ready when I checked in at 5:15pm and I had to wait in the lobby. The pull out couch was very dirty and the mattress cover was dirty and falling apart. The kitchen is lacking amenities to actually use the oven.
- 5/5
It was clean and well located
- 3/5
The electrical outlets didn’t work (only 2 in the entire room) &
- 4/5
Food was very mediocre, packaged food was crappy. Shower needs caulking, missing coffee pot as well. No beer for sale downstairs like it showed in picture of areas. Stay was 3.5 out of 5, couch was comfy
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
The breakfast selection was great each morning, and the common areas were clean and inviting. Parking and check-in were smooth, and the location is perfect, close to great restaurants, shops, and easy freeway access. Overall, this was a worry-free, comfortable stay. We highly recommend the Residence Inn Walnut Creek and will absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
We had such a good experience because one of the hotel receptionists Bishoy was incredibly kind to us. His kind welcome made our stay feel even more special.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 3/5
While the room was decorated nicely, i had a single window with a view of a concrete wall no more than 12 inches away. Very little natural light. It felt like a dungeon. If i was given a room with more windows and natural light i would have been happier I also didnt like the mandatory valet parking.
- 2/5
Secondly, the valet parking was a mess. There was no one at the valet to greet us or help with bags. There were cars everywhere practically blocking the entrance into the parking area. When we left for the evening, the valet could not find our keys and we were waiting for 15 minutes while he searched the same places over and over again. When I asked him to check the drawers he said he'd have to call someone. He then asked us to go check our car to see if the keys were in there. That was unprofessional and out of line for a guest at a hotel to do for a service they are paying for. Another guest also needed his keys and asked him to look in the drawer, which he obliged, and we saw our keys and finally was able to leave.
- 5/5
Great staff greeting was welcoming
- 5/5
Everything was fine except wish there wasn't only valete parking.
- 4/5
Yes
- 4/5
Nice facility. Valet parking only.
- 3/5
Only one functional elevator that is shared with housekeeping = super slow.

It was a pleasant surprise and a great stay.

Hey
- 5/5
Excellent breakfast. One small problem, toilet too low.
- 3/5
When we pulled up to the hotel we were greated with a sign that said parking $35.00 a night. This was a surprise there was nothing on the internet about it. They said we could park on the street but not until after 8:00
- 4/5
We had a good overnight stay, we brought our dog with us and we were hoping that they could have at least provided a dog bowl or some treat and no free water for guests. They brushed our Bonvoy membership because it was booked through Expedia, that’s fine, not expecting points but they could have done better. Hilton does it better.
- 5/5
Everyone was very friendly and they cultivated an environment of family and peace!
- 5/5
Excellent staff and valet
- 5/5
It’s always a great experience and staff is very polite.
- 3/5
The sheets on the pullout bed from the couch were stained and gross and the sheets in the closet had what look like blood stains on them so we had to go to the front desk to get additional sheets.
- 3/5
It is nice and clean, convenient and safe!
- 4/5
Staff was great
- 5/5
Everything was close to all shops excellent service
- 5/5
The staff and were excellent to work with and the hotel was in great condition. We had a question about an issue in our room but the staff immediately took care of it and we were very happy with the results. The area around the hotel was very nice too. I would stay there again anytime I’m in that area.
- 4/5
We had a nice stay at the Residence Inn and would stay here again. The room was a decent size and had everything you needed in the kitchen, which made it very convenient and comfortable. This is ideal for longer stays. However, we did notice several ants in the bathroom and a few other areas of the room. By the time we saw them, it was already late, so we didn’t get a chance to call the staff. As for breakfast, the selection was quite limited and could be improved to offer more variety and better quality.
- 5/5
Clean and safe feeling. Enjoyed our stay. Would be great for a longer term stay!
- 5/5
Very nice, clean, well-equipped. Only flaw was no conditioner in the shower container, but that is a very minor inconvenience.
- 4/5
The only problem is parking
- 4/5
They get you on the parking! They have valet parking for $35/day! That’s very expensive! The other option is street parking and things aren’t really that safe in the Bay Area anymore so I felt that the hotel was taking undue advantage of the situation by charging its patrons. I had stuff in my car as I was moving in my kid to their college apartment so I had to relent to this atrocious charge to park my car in the hotel’s parking structure. Marriott does that in their other hotel in Walnut Creek, CA as well. Such a shame!
- 2/5
The first room I got had an unclean toilet. It had a lot of hair. So I went down to the front desk and I showed him the pictures. He seemed like he didn’t believe what I was saying. He gave me another room. It looked a bit better but the windows were dirty, no hair in toilet or sink. Unfortunately, once I got into the shower, I saw hairs. It was too late in the evening, and I was exhausted. I tried to talk to the front desk the next morning but the attendant said that she can’t do anything about it. I think I was dismissed and not being taken seriously. I have the pictures. This is 2 star motel experience not a Marriott.
- 5/5
I didnt like the fact that you are forced to pay for parking.

My go to place to stay when I have to come to the Bay Area!
- 5/5
👍
- 5/5
Great friendly staff. Room was huge and offered items for the kitchen. Close to walking to restaurants, shopping and able to walk to all.
- 5/5
Very clean. The room was spacious. Location was good. Staff were very friendly.
- 3/5
The dogs on our floor barked throughout the night and because our room was located overlooking the outside seating area between the buildings, the people who stayed out there until 3am kept us awake with their talking and laughing loudly. It was very unfortunate.
- 5/5
I do not like the Valet-only parking. Refrigerator noise occasionally not great. Minor inconvenience, some outlets in my room were not working.
- 4/5
Good, neat property. Room could be cleaner and breakfast better, but overall a solid place. Will definitely consider it for another stay in the area. Staff was fast, polite and efficient.
- 5/5
Great stay!!
- 4/5
Nice, neat and new.
- 5/5
Perfect as usual
- 4/5
I didn't have a coffee pot in the room for morningcoffee, the shower soap dispenser was empty so I used the shampoo for soap and there was no shower cap in the room. Otherwise everything was nice. The bed was comfortable and it was nice and quiet
- 5/5
Like the kitchen, helpful with my strict diet
- 5/5
Front desk
- 5/5
Always very welcoming and clean
- 3/5
Hotel mgmt. Tried to call the occupants but they would not pick up the phone. We were staying there as my wife was recovering from a hip replacement.
- 5/5
I really liked how the rooms were really clean and the sheets were properly washed I usually break out all over my body but here I didn’t have a single reaction
- 3/5
Toilet had to be flushed once and then flushed again to refill the water in it. Shower water pressure was non-existent and would drip water onto the metal drain cover for hours after being turned off. There was no body wash in the shower either. Parking was either expensive or impossible to find
- 5/5
This is our 3rd time at this location. Great place, great staff and beautuflly kept.
- 5/5
Our room on this property for the price was amazing in size and cleanliness. If in the area, would definitely come back!
- 2/5
My wife came to check in with our daughter
- 5/5
Overall visit was great! 😊
- 5/5
Nice breakfast
- 5/5
Hotel seeme brand new. Room was huge. Lobby delightful!
- 4/5
Nice place for extended stay. Shower faucet not enough water pressure and no fan only for a/c unit!
- 4/5
Really nice room with kitchenette. Pool was tiny and not great. Nice free breakfast. It would be nice if at check in they told you where pool was and all the details of the hotel, as there is nothing in room explaining anything about the spa, grounds, etc.
- 2/5
I stayed a 2nd night and I was double charged. And she didn’t get it !
- 5/5
The property was amazing and had good amenities. The hotel room felt like an apartment! It had a kitchen with everything you need to be able to cook, and a living room area! It’s mostly quiet at night as well. Broadway plaza is a mile away and had so many good stores to shop at. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Great location. The valet was not available to park cars and there was nothing in the main lot but parking on the street was easy.
- 5/5
Nice place with great facilities. Be aware of the $35/day charge for valet parking. There's nowhere else to park in this area.
- 5/5
Great spot to stay!
- 5/5
Very nice and clean
- 5/5
Great facilities and e loved the studio apartment setup
- 5/5
loved that we were within walking distance to everything!!
- 4/5
At check in we were asked what kind of room we wanted: no elevator? Close to dining? Quiet? Etc. We got a beautiful room with views of Mt Diablo and a small corner with kitchen counter!
- 4/5
Room, pool and food were great. Only issue was that my husband bought a bottle of wine from the front desk, was told it was $17, we were billed $30. I mentioned to the front desk - they said “it’s $30”, no sorry or reimbursement. Very nice hotel though.
- 5/5
very nice place
- 4/5
Nice breakfast. We liked our room, but we didn't like the colors - too dark.
- 5/5
Diana (front desk) was wonderful. They should be proud that she is part of this team.
- 4/5
I’ve stayed here twice and it’s always an amazing stay. Rooms are always clean, staff is always nice, and it’s super close to restaurants and Target! The only con would have to be the Valet and how thin the walls are. I heard the neighbors banging all night and the valet can take a while to get your car on the weekends. They typically only have 1 or 2 people running the valet while there are a ton of people waiting for their car. Other than that, I love this hotel. Will always choose to stay here over other places in the area!
- 5/5
New hotel so usual to be exacted but staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will be my hotel of choice in Walnut Creek.
- 2/5
The alarm clock was not reset and woke me up at 0600! The pool was not clean.
- 4/5
Love the kitchenette in our room. It made it easy for us to make meals. However our toaster did not work and the replacement one didn’t work as well. Our stovetop was also funky. The little dishwasher was amazing. It felt like a little apartment. Would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
The property is right next to the BART station and you can hear the trains running all night. Otherwise the room was fine and the staff is great. Only valet parking is available for $35 a night.
- 3/5
The hotel is fairly new and in a great, central location. However, we were supposed to have our room serviced every other day. We were there for 4 nights and not once did housekeeping come in and clean the room. We even asked housekeeping when we left our room to please clean the room and no one ever showed up. Very disappointing. The breakfast that was included with the room was very poor quality food and we were not even able to eat it.
- 4/5
Overall good. Could be slightly noisy since right next to the bart. Very courteous staff. Didn't like the shower room design where there's only half of a glass door, causing water to splash outside the shower area.
- 3/5
Clean, nice room, close to where we needed to be. Noisy, shower was so powerful you almost couldn’t use it, needed a toaster as the one in the room was broke but I guess that was too much to ask as we never got one. Only parking is valet at an additional 35.00 a day plus tax. Overall I’ll stay somewhere else next time.
- 1/5
At 2:30 in the morning the couple in the room above us woke us yelling and screaming and throwing things against the wall. We called the night manager 4 times and each time he told us that he knocked on there door but no one answered. He said he also called them but they did not answer. This went on for 45 minutes. My husband and I had to get dressed and go up to the room and make sure no one had been hurt. They opened the door as soon as we knocked and they said the stop fighting and go to sleep. We went back to our room and they started up again. We called. The night manager and told him He Must do something! Finally, he called the police and within 15 minutes the police were there and handled the situation. What a nightmare. The next morning the couple vacated the property.
- 5/5
There was a 10 minute walk to a very cute shopping mall with lots of cute coffee shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel with a great location to walk to many dining and bar options just down the street.
- 5/5
We had a large dog and everybody was great! Decent area for doggy relief. Valet service was spot on. Great front of the house as well.
- 3/5
The walls are super thin apparently so we heard toilets flushing and what sounding like elephants in the room above us. We heard doors shutting also and were woken up around 615am but our upstairs neighbors talking and walking around their room.
- 4/5
The property is really pretty, and the rooms extremely spacious. However the internet is terrible, trying to watch anything via their television is almost impossible with the constant buffering. The breakfast was great, but you HAVE to use the valet which is super annoying. Extremely walkable area though. Water pressure in the bathroom was extreme and the shower set up is terrible, water gets everywhere. But the cost, coupled with the walkability, large rooms and free breakfast was worth it
- 4/5
The breakfast was delicious and made up for the other issues. The man who was in charge of vallet parking was very thoughtful and helpful.
- 4/5
Wish the bed was firmer. Other residents wouldnt make loud noises after midnight.
- 5/5
Great property. Some rooms can hear the BART but it just sounds like swooshing… maybe like white noise for some.
- 5/5
Hotel is nicely located in Walnut Creek downtown and closed to everything.
- 2/5
The hotel is going through renovation which is understandable. The room was tidy and they were accommodating to the best of their abilities I feel. We were weary after a long trip and wedding and multiple issues arose. Hair dryer and outlet almost shocked us, super low water pressure shower, and concierge which couldn’t seem to help us with any accommodating requests. Seems like possibly a good stay post renovation.
- 2/5
It smelled and it was dirty. The only thing good about this property was the wonderful staff.
- 3/5
Our room had 2 parts but only one section had a window so it was very claustrophobic. The hair dryer and iron were very cheap and didn’t work well. The iron did not get wrinkles out and the hair dryer did not get hot. The area around the hotel is not the nicest. We got our credit card numbers stolen at the nearby coffee store.
- 2/5
Outlets and fixtures falling out of the wall, system down so I couldn’t even get a key to my room, lights not intuitive and shutting off randomly
- 5/5
The friendly staff and safe feeling were the best part!
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Lovely resort 💛
- 5/5
Terrific stay
- 5/5
Very large room with vaulted ceilings.
- 4/5

Very convenient location—you can walk from the Walnut Creek Bart Station if you don’t have a car. Also, it is in easy walking distance to downtown WC and all its shops and restaurants.

Studio was amazing, clean and spacious. Evening staff were very accommodating without me asking 100% professional and friendly. I wish I caught the young ladies name. 🙂

Safe hotel, clean rooms, staff helpful and courteous. Parking limited so either valet or street parking.
