Had to stand in the non-air conditioned lobby and wait for the attendant to take care of my reservation, which she could not find spent 3 minutes in sweaty heat before I just opened up the door and went outside upon moving into a room, open door and a cockroach ran out that I killed. Went back downstairs and requested another room

The staff was rude, the rooms were dirty as well

It's unfortunate that there isn't any pride put into this business. It's as though no one knew that I booked the stay. The duvet on one bed had shoeprints,crumbled dirt ,and hair on top of it,when I pulled back the sheets there was more hair and stains on the fitted sheet. I checked the next bed and there was a yellow stain on the pillow as well as more hair and stains underneath the sheets. The bathroom towels had dried paint on them. I left to get cleaning supplies from the store as well as towels and sheets from a thrift shop. A hotel worker told me that someone would try to steal my car,so I bought a steering wheel lock. My room was non-smoking, however smoke comes through the vents from the smoking rooms,so there was smoke smell in my clothes everyday and our allergies were aggravated due to this.The man, possibly owner at the check in desk said that 4 people were too many for my room and asked me to pay an additional $80 in cash, in which he did not give me a receipt for. I wish they would not take advantage of people. Everyone deserves a clean,safe place to rest.

If I could give 0 stars I would! This place is absolutely DISGUSTING & should not be in operation!! There were holes in the wall, stains on the bedding, floors, EVERYWHERE!! Exposed lighting in the ceiling (no light fixture). The lightning in the back parking area was dim, w/trash & other large items discarded. There were also several sketchy looking individuals hanging around. You'd do better off sleeping in your car! I didn't feel comfortable & ended up leaving.

Towels were old, threadbare and stained. Bathmat had big black stains on it. Only one trash can by the door, not by the bathroom. Toilet paper holders had no cylinder thing in them on which you put the roll. There were 2 half used rolls of toilet paper on the toilet tank. Furniture was old and rickety. Toilet backed up after the first flush. When I checked in it took a long time because the clerk didn’t know how to use the computer system. They charged $3.75 if you used a credit card! Everyone uses credit cards now! Who pays in cash anymore?? They wouldn’t give me a receipt until I checked out the next day. When I went to check out, nobody was there. I had to use their call button to get someone to the front desk. I asked for my receipt and the clerk told me that I wouldn’t get a receipt because I paid online. I had to tell her that I paid in person last night with my credit card. She then looked it up in the system and then finally gave me a receipt. There was no channel guide on the remote or any printout with the channels on the TV. I would NEVER go there again and WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone else!

Friendly staff

The safety lock on the door was broken off, like the door had been kicked in. They said their credit card machine was broken so you could use the convient ATM in the lobby to get cash. And on the secomd floor above us the family had a violent fight with children screaming in terror and someone saying 'they would take care of things" at 2 am in the morning.

Besides all the trim and paint coming off the walls the mattresses was comfortable and the AC did work at least. If you don't mind the smell of smoke in your nonsmoking room this is the place for you.

Discovered tiny flies around the hand sink and a spider in the tub. Back to the office. Manager gets a can of bug spray and some Fabreeze. Not a great way to start. Only 1 trash can. Only 1 Facial tissue in the box. TP "loose" - no holder. Room was dirty. Towels & linens didn't look clean. Freezer had a 1/2" 'plate' of ice. I left it turned off and open with a towel to collect what thaws. In the morning noticed a good amount of light around the door. (Not sealed well) The top door lock was not a matched set and - therefore - non-functional. Slight smell of lingering smoke (in a non-smoking room) The manager was willing to let us keep the Fabreeze until morning - as long as we returned it! Rm #105 Sunset Inn going on our "Never return here" list BUT - we are heading to see our new grandson and our kids!

The staff was excellent, I will say they could use a little updating on linens, but it was clean and cheap. The beds were comfortable, a/c is cold, and the showers hot. Definitely recommend for a 2-star place, you get more than more expensive options in the area.

my stay was horrible, the room was dirty. couldnt get another room. the remote wasnt there. people outside smokimg weed and drinking all night hanging out. no hot water. front desk wouldnt help us. holes in wall. filrty filty floors. i would never ever stay or referral ever.

We've stayed at this motel on several occasions. This stay seemed less than excellent. Our room was not quite as clean and had no toilet paper. We had booked a non-smoking room, but our room smelled of stale cigarettes. We were disappointed but not to the point of discontinuing our stay. The room rates are budget-friendly and we've never experienced these issues before.

I have stayed here before and I always enjoy my stay. The place is clean, safe and the staff is attentive. The hotel is also reasonably priced and the service is great. Thank you for making my stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Extremely dirty floor. Broken curtains for people to see inside. Faucet that drips non stop. Numerous stains on bed. Purchased a non smoking room, gave me a smoking room instead with smaller beds than original purchased. If something was possibly of going wrong, it went wrong. Avoid for your own good. When you pay for cheap, you get an absolute trash of a hotel like this

Bed was comfortable and linens clean; nice room for overnight stay. No breakfast available on site but several dining options close and convenient. Our only disappointment is no in-room coffee maker.

There were multiple roaches in the toom. Every thing that was white was stained yellow. No water pressure. Toilet wouldn't flush properly. The staff wouldn't do anything to accommodate.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was not the cleanest but was OK. The bed linens were clean and the mattress afforded a very good night's sleep. We needed a place to stay nights during a move and this budget-friendly motel met our needs.

This was the worst hotel stay I ever had in my life,,first got in the room a smell coming from one of the beds ,the spread, then, left couple of hours felt like we was still in the heat, call clerk, man came say close bathroom door. Then tuck curtains. The air never got cool we had to go buy a fan it was the wordt 2 nights, tun wss stopped up full of hair, beds had hair in it. Never stay here sgsin

Great stay, clean, comfortable!! I did ask for an earlier Check in, they didn’t check the note and did not accommodate, and there was not an ashtray in our smoking room. Other than that we had a good experience here!!!

Inside it was a little worn-out and there was hole in the bedsheet from smoking, but felt clean enough.

What I love about the Sunset Inn Hotel was super phenomenal, & awesome! because the room was cheaper and it was easier for me to have a ride to go to the national civil rights Museum, and downtown Memphis, and all over the city of Memphis Tennessee!!

Location is very close to the speedway... Good if you're visiting for the races, but you can hear them, so not good for light sleepers or those with sensitivity to noises.

It was very clean for the price

It had exactly what I needed. Bed, toilet,shower, fridge and microwave. Great price and I felt safe.

When climbing into bed I discovered that the sheets were very wet. When I asked for another room, I was told there were none (No refund available). At that point I pushed back and was told there was only one smoking room left. The smell was not pleasant but that was ok. Both rooms smelled of smoke. I am a smoker myself but prefer to step outside. Very run down, I would not recommend!

I didn’t like how ran down and dirty the mattress was for 70 a night more like 50 or 55 should be at the most snappy woman

This was a nice overnight place to stay. The bed was clean and comfortable. The shower provided plenty of hot water with good pressure. Our room had a microwave and mini-fridge, but unfortunately no in-room coffee maker.

The staff was very friendly and the room was acceptable. The sink faucet kept leaking whenever I turned it on in rm #204. But no complaints. Really quiet at night.

Poor condition

Place was nothing more than adequate. Not especially good value wise. Strangest thing I noticed was the floor was perpetually wet.

Property looks ok from outside, but they need new bed covers, towels and clean the floors. Maybe resurface the tub and it would be great. The area is quiet and convient to downtown, walmart, casino, gas station, restaurants. The little things would make a huge difference.

It was beyond dirty. We pulled their covers from the bed and used our own. Unfriendly staff there was 2 dirty looking towels in the room. There was 4 of us. We ask for more towels were firmly told no.

The chairs were black with stain. The bathroom was filthy with used towels. The management said I get refunded because I did not stay then lied to the Expedia representative making a refund difficult. The place is a biohazard, do not stay here!

For what I paid for the room was cool. I had an early flight in the morning. Needed something for a few hours to get some rest. The bed was a little uncomfortable but I made do.

They put me out ut for having a service dog and then I left my wedding rings and they stole them the lady in the office is very mean and just keeps saying her house keeper is there I just want my rings back plus they have roaches and the room was disgustingly dirty

This was our first stay at this motel & with mixed reviews, we were a little nervous. We were so glad we gave it a try! Our room was clean & appeared to be remodeled. The bed's firm mattress was comfortable & afforded a good night's sleep. Towels were adequate; the shower/bath had been updated & water pressure was good with plenty of hot water. Microwave & mini-fridge were in good working order. The decor may not be trendy but was pleasant. The desk associate was polite & efficient. This motel satisfactorily offers what travelers need for an out-of-town stay at prices that are very budget-friendly without the extra frills of more expensive accommodations. We will stay at Sunset Inn when in the West Memphis area in the future.

For a non-smoking room, there were a few too many cigarette burns on the bed clothes. I’m not too prissy, but I feel like the sheets should at least be washed once a month and it… didn’t look like they had. The shower curtain was mildewy, which almost prompted me to go to Walmart and just eat the $6 and replace it for them. When I noticed that the show curtain rings were scant and they themselves were moldy, I decided that this borderline impressive organism did not deserve to be so unceremoniously replaced. So far, I’ve only been itchy for 48 hours after my stay, so I’m hopeful that subsides this week!

It was the absolute worst motel bed spread sheets at the bottom of the bed was filthy nasty and dirty, manager and his wife both rude make up their own policy or rules, had the big dog running through the parking lot, call the cops three times in one week absolutely terrible service, smelled like mold in the air conditioner I coughed badly in my sleep

Like others said, you get what you pay for. Is definitely not the best place to stay. The place needs an update. My experience was the bed sheets had stains and the bathroom had mold. Recommendations, make sure you bring your own pillow and towels.

Checkin was terrible. Booked a nonsmoking room. Room provided was full of cigarette smell. I complained and I was offered two other rooms to check but they also had cigarette smell. The receptionist also came and agreed that rooms were not nonsmoking. Even the bed sheets have cigarette burns/holes. Property was in bad condition, looked like maintenance wasn’t done for years. Very noisy location - traffic noise. Terrible experience.
