It happened as I was leaving to check out. The door handle wouldn't move, despite no lock or latch engaged. I placed 2 calls to the main desk, and with the 2nd, a maintenance man was sent to remedy the situation. He badged into the room with no trouble at all. Then he let the door shut. Suddenly we were both locked in. Ultimately, he had to bust through a screen window to badge us both out. I asked for a refund for this 2nd of my 2 night stay through the office directly and Hotels. Suburban Studios flatly refused twice. I also gave Choice Hotels a description of the incident. My primary grievance is with the nature of this incident. Every room in this property has a stove; so, every room is at a higher chance than your typical hotel room of being a site of a fire. Imagine being a small child, or someone with a mobility issue, who has a fire break out in their room only to find that their door is somehow locked on the inside. Do you expect this guest to bust through a screen and jump out a window? I deeply hope that Choice took my mention of the fire risk seriously. My lesser, secondary issue is the refund, solely because this appears to be part of a pattern of the hotel refusing to give back money over legitimate causes. See a different April '26 review on Choice for support; this behavior isn't a fluke.

Affordable and moderately clean. The area is very sketchy. People were almost always sitting on the stairs and wouldn't move when you needed to get by. Each time I came and went, there were the same people with two incredibly aggressive and reactive dogs outside. Id go in my room for hours and come out to leave and they would still be sitting outside near the stairs. A lot of long term residence/people living there. There was a school bus parked adjacent to the parking lot and there appeared to be people living in there and coming and going as well. If you are traveling with animals or kids- I do not recommend staying here due to the safety concerns regarding aggressive/reactive dogs. I also observed individuals using substances in the breezeways and being rough with their children.

Location. Delivery from Walmart and Olive garden are exceptionally fast. Close to numerous restaurants and the mall. No pots,pans or utensils. So purchase some before you arrive. If you plan on cooking.

Minor issues, there was a gap under the door, that if there had been any rain or if this would've been a fall trip, would have caused water or debris to come in under the door. Very limited channels on the television in the room. Toilet paper holder was broken, as well as the towels being extremely old, to the point of in need of replacement. Overall, a good place to sleep and rest.

It's the most ghetto hotel I've stayed in. The front of building looks good but go around to the back and it's all druggies hanging out. Not safe feeling at all!

To my dismay, when I went to check out I was told by the morning clerk that it could be 3 to 5 days before it would appear back in my account. The reality is I was initially only actually charged $1.00 - but when I checked out the clerk charged my card the entire $60 which included a $10 deposit for a skillet and spoon, and the $50 damage/incidental deposit. All of this was done at check out - and it really put me in a horrible financial situation because I was depending on that money to get me back home to Virginia. While I enjoyed the hotel and was pleased to get a handicap room - I am very disappointed for the encounter I had at check-out,and to this day I STILL DON'T HAVE MY DEPOSIT OF $60 BACK IN MY ACCOUNT. * I highly recommend this hotel because it is convenient, clean, and pretty - but just be careful to know there is a deposit that you may or may not get back. Also know that if you need dishes to cook it will require a deposit as well. The evening staff is very helpful & friendly. My only horrific exception is with the guy who checked me out the next morning, that caused me unnecessary stress getting back to Virginia - which I could have avoided if I had just surrendered a cash deposit instead of tying up my debit card which i needed to use for gas to get home.

Everything the place didn’t really match the pictures and for you guys to be a extended stay not much was giving to you to make you feel like you was, also the area it was in wasn’t all that safe either.

Very outdated rooms, dog feces everywhere, and the Motel could use a Great clean-up!

There was a broken chair in my room , spilled liquid all over the side of the bed that was hardened . And the location felt a little unsafe

They placed me in a room with a broken heat unit; therefore it was exposed to the outside and temps were freezing. Very poor selection. I pad over 500$ to conduct remote research for the week.

I was staying alone, say 7 stars thought it would be safe. As soon as I get there a man tells me he’s gonna come to my room later then about midnight I hear loud knocking on the door.

The only problem I had with the room was the hardwood floor was very dirty. I could see dirt & dust on the floor and the soles of my clean white socks were very dirty like it hadn't been mopped in a long time. I never go barefoot in a hotel room anyway. Other than that, the rest of the room seemed to be clean. The bathroom sink & tub were clean.

The rooms are good for the price. Family stayed due to appointments at Baptist. Will definitely stay here again. Staff is friendly and helpful.

THE REFRIGERATOR WAS STUCK CLOSED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT CLEAN AND WE HAD TO FORCE IT OPEN. THE FREEZER MADE LOUD NOISES. GNATS WERE FLYING AROUND IN THE REFRIGERATOR, AND IT NEVER CAME TO THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE. WE WERE GIVEN BLUE TOWELS AND WASHCLOTHS THAT RAN THE BLUE DYE OUT OF THEM WHEN WET OR USED, SO WE WENT TO BUY OUR OWN WHITE WASHCLOTHS AND TOWELS. THERE WAS NO WAY TO WALK UP TO THE SIDEWALK. WE HAD TO WALK THROUGH A GRAVEL TRAIL CAREFULLY TO ACCESS THE SIDEWALK FROM THE PARKING LOT. THERE WERE NO RAMP OR STAIRS FROM THE PARKING LOT TO GET TO YOUR ROOM. THE PLACE SHOULD NOT BE IN OPERATION. IT WAS THE MOST DISGUSTING PLACE THAT WE EVER STAYED. OBVIOUSLY, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Convenient location, all of Hanes Mall immediately available. Laundry room accessible 24 hours is a convenient amenity. Ironing board and iron in the room completes the laundry self-service.

Check in went smoothly and our room ended up having a broken AC but the immediately fixed the problem.

Plenty of stairs to walk up and plenty of uncleandd rooms you have to just let them know by holding their hands and showing this is not clean. Then you have to try to find a cleaner to get to your room to clean it. No you cant clean it on your own

Enjoyed my night at Suburban Studios, needed a night to myself and was very pleased. Loved the layout of the room and the beds are comfy.

I love this hotel they are trying to fix it up. The tub was dirty and I woke up to a roach in the bathroom and the people next to me yelled all night and kept slamming doors

Why is this property even listed on Expoedia? DO NOT STAY HERE! We pulled up and there was a third world armed desperado in front of the lobby with enough ammunition top start a small war. That was the firdt sign this was not a safe place. All doors open to the exterior. There was a homeless encampment adjacent. We pulled down the covers to dind semen and pubic hairs on the sheets. We left - forfeited our night's charges and went to the Hampton. Just awful.

This hotel is deceiving. It is quite comfortable with comfortable clean beds, clean shower and small but fine working TV. A refrigerator and small stove.Inwould rate this2.5- 3 star. Exactly what we needed most the time was spent outside the room.great price for overnight or short stay.

If Expedia rates a place good I don’t expect to see people living in the parking lot. People were working on cars. It is a nonsmoking room but people were standing outside our room smoking. I would never stay here again.

The people above stayed up until 4am we saw drug deals going on in parking lot. Will not stay again.

Do not stay there if you have children

It was ok. But; if I had known it was an extended stay, I would have stayed else where. For a woman alone, I was very uncomfortable with the surroundings.

Unfortunately, we found the bathroom floor very dirty, and when we tried to check out Sunday morning, there was no one at the front desk. With several others, we pushed our key cards through the mail slot in the door and left.

On checking out, no one was in the office for some time. We finally wrapped our parking tag around the room keys and pushed them through the door's mail drop. Otherwise, the beds and pillows are comfy. My friend asked for another blanket and received one immediately. The shower is great with quick hot water and a nice strong stream. Plenty of towels.

The property is very nice, but there was trash bags everywhere full of trash. Bedding looked like there was smoke put out on it. Seems like whoever cleaned the room didn’t change out some of the bath towel which was damp and dirty before i touched it.

Disgusting. Leaking air conditioner water all over the room. That place was garbage.

Understandably now there are individuals living at the property, these are tough times. Individuals are coming knocking on doors when you try to relax and sleep also smoking Marijuana outside. The front desk staff were cordial but I would not recommend the hotel.

The price is high for the area it has people wkakkkg all night all around the hotel the police and the K-9 unit where there people in staircases made me nervous tole a my belongings in my room was overall uncomfortable waste of money I shoulda gone to the quality

The bed was clean the floor was not swept or mopped and the bathroom was not cleaned at all sink had hair in it and dry toothpaste and the shower walls were very dirty and toilet and seat were filthy
