Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the hotel's central location and comfortable rooms, but some express dissatisfaction with the cleanliness, service, and value for money. The hotel's proximity to local attractions and amenities is a significant advantage, but issues with room cleanliness, unfriendly staff, and overpriced services have negatively impacted some guests' experiences.

Great location, nice views
- 3/5
Location of the hotel is great, you are right in the center of everything and has a great view of the river. It is pretty noisy due to the traffic and fire station nearby, but nothing the staff can do about that. Other than that, nothing great to report. For about $500 per night, you’d expect WiFi and/or breakfast to be included. But no, they charged extra for EVERYTHING, some things I don’t even understand, such as a $30/day destination fee?? There was no one at the front desk when we left to explain that to me. WiFi they wanted another $15/day. Cup of coffee from the lobby? Charging extra. So that was incredibly disappointing. Prob wouldn’t stay there again for these reasons

Hotel was nice, in a nice area. The only issue I had was with the valet parking. When we arrived, there were several workers at the valet stand and none of them came to our car. I got out and walked up to the stand to see if this is where I am supposed to get valet service. They said yes and then came to my car, gave me a ticket and left. No help with luggage. When we left on Sunday, there was no one to be found at the Valet Stand. I scanned my ticket and received a text that my car would be ready in 15 minutes. When they brought the car they got out, took the key with them and went into the hotel for several minutes. When they finally came out, I ask for my key so that I could leave and they were not very friendly. Handed me my key and walked away.

everyone was very nice

The staff was excellent.
- 4.5/5
The staff was all very prompt and courteous, and to be honest very nice. The location makes it very easy to drive in and out of, much easier than most downtown chicago hotels where you have to double park and get honked at.... You pull into their circular drive and give your keys to the valet, and no stress. Hotel was clean and well apppointed. The location could not be better for taking in what makes Chicago great. One critical downfall was the patio bar/restaurant being closed. If this was communicated in advance it wasn't done so very well. Small critique, but important to me, the chairs in the room weren't comfortable and I want a comfy place to sit while my wife is getting ready for dinner.

It is centrally located in the middle of the downtown and close to everything. We had a nice stay here as beds are comfortable and the river view room we got was fantastic. The valet parking is $86 which we felt expensive. This may be norm in downtown. hi ago though.

I have nothing but great things to say about the Westin. The staff is amazing and so incredibly helpful. Location was perfect!
- 5/5
Comfotrable beds, great/helpful staff. Dated rooms, lots of construction outside at the time we stayed. But overall, a very nice experience.
- 5/5
So many things within walking distance, tours, shops, restaurants! Great 2 night stay, unbelievably comfortable beds!

Room was clean, bed was comfy and view was great out our window!

We had a great stay and the staff was amazing!
- 5/5
Clean room & the views!!!
- 5/5
Great staff, excellent atmosphere, they even let me check in at 12 instead of waiting until 4pm.
- 3/5
The rooms are dim and seem dated. The hotel lobby also is dark and uninspiring. What they call a restaurant was basically just a lobby bar, and room service breakfast was a paper cup of oatmeal delivered in a paper bag with a plastic bottle of orange juice of the type that can be bought for two dollars in the CVS down the street. I would expect some attempt at presentation when paying $30. Staff was nice though and helpful.
- 5/5
The stag was amazing! Took great care of my wife on her birthday!
- 3/5
Room in good condition excepted for shower which wasnt great from a water flow perspective. Staff very friendly
- 3.5/5
The location is excellent and we had requested a river view room which was beautiful. The doorman, Charles, greeted us warmly and took great care of us during our brief stay. Quality of in-room dining was surprisingly good. Check-in experience was extremely disappointing, it was almost as if we were inconveniencing the front desk associate. She didn't tell us anything about the property, basically just scanned my credit card and ID and silently handed over the room key.
- 4/5
Comfort and localization. Nothing.

Very good hotel in Downtown
- 5/5
The room was great-only comment is that it would be helpful to have more drawers for clothing and a shelf or drawer in the nightstands.
- 5/5
This is a GREAT hotel and the rooms are nice sizes!
- 3/5
There was dirty socks in the bathroom and left over food in the mini fridge. The body wash dispenser in the shower was empty. Poor maid service. The place is in a great location but interiors are outdated.

Breakfast buffet- eggs cool, bacon cold, need to ask for refills on coffee. Expensive for $40+. Hotel for $400/ night you expect more. Bar was very expensive, for beers and nonalcoholic drinks.

Fui de vacaciones a Chicago. Fue una excelente experiencia utilizar el hotel como hospedaje.
- 5/5
The location and view from room was perfects RPM restaurant next door was classy and Aweosme food. Overall Stay at Westin was just as desired. Absolutely nothing
- 4/5
Was not a fan of the pillows. They were very lumpy
- 5/5
Excellent experience
- 5/5
From the moment of entering the Westin the cleanliness is noticeable. The lobby and bar area is super clean and comfy! Every employee we made contact with was incredibly helpful and nice! The location of being on the river is very nice too.
- 3/5
The property was nice. The valet parking stuff/Doorman was excellent. The buffet was over priced/ expensive. The beds in my was extremely uncomfortable. They seems to be smaller than the usual double queens.
- 4/5
Wonderful location!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, centrally located in downtown Chicago, with staff who provided outstanding customer service. The hotel was extremely clean and our room was extremely roomy and comfortable. I will definitely come back to this hotel the next time I go to Chicago!

Great place

When we checked in and went up on the 4th floor the hallway and our room smelled horrible and the smell lingers. The bathroom is very out dated with a very very low old toilet. When I turned on the shower brown water came out. Another thing I didn't care for is we charged our breakfast to our credit card but they charged more than our actual bill was. I complained to their service desk person and he stated that they do that for any incidentals. However they had already charged our card for over 200.00 for incidentals. In regards to customer service they did not have enough staff at the check in desk and it was a long wait. The Westin In Chicago is not high class at all although they charge you a great deal to stay a night. We were there for 2 days and they charged over 800.00. I would not recommend anyone to stay here . It is more a 2 star hotel. That's my opinion. Rooms2.0Service2.0Location5.0

Location was great Valet disorganize, long time to get the car
- 4/5
Hotel is a bit “dark”; otherwise, it’s very good.
- 4/5
Good location, convenient access to airport by train
- 5/5
Very nice property. Walkable area.
- 4/5
When we checked in the front desk staff was not very personable. We have stayed here 3-4 times and that was very unusual.
- 3/5
The property is definitely dated. The bathroom had the most wear. Visible cobwebs along the ceiling molding in our room. Overall, it wasn’t terrible but definitely nothing special.
- 1/5
Paid for river view..have a sidewalk view..
- 5/5
Great spot.
- 5/5
Nice property close to the river
- 4.5/5
I would never have chosen John for the front desk. He may as well have been AI, no personality, not in the least bit friendly. He was very curt and matter of fact, not in the least bit welcoming.
- 1/5
Multiple hundreds worth charged at the bar when I was not even in the hotel. Hotel claims it was an inadvertent mischarge from another guest and would be corrected. I had to prove my identity to buy a drink and snack from their convenience area, so not sure how they can make that mistake at the bar. Still waiting for my refund. The charges were immediate, so where's my refund?
- 5/5
My kids had a women sneak onto the elevator and follow them to their room. Thankfully there were adults with them but she definitely had singled them out.
- 3/5
We had an issue with the cool air in our room not working. Apparently most the building was affected because they were trying to change the system over for the warm season. Our room was 76 plus very humid the whole time and it was 65-70 outside. We requested a room change which we did get but it was no better. We requested a fan and was put on the waitlist (#20 in line). Very difficult to sleep each night. They did provide a small credit but not nearly enough with the sweltering room.

My stay was amazing. Very nice hotel and I will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The Westin is a very lovely hotel with amazing staff!!
- 3/5
I didn’t like that we upgraded for a river view and barely even had a partial view. Very disappointing.
- 5/5
Nice large rooms. Good bar. Buffet breakfast was good. Blue Mercury and CVS steps away for supplies. Super close to the riverfront where you can have a long stroll or go for a run. As well as a view of the river - was right across from the House of Blues so could see if there was a line up! Overall great location. Would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Check in was easy and very friendly. Staff was ready to help in any way. This was the first hotel we stayed in since 2020 that we felt was properly staffed with helpful and happy people.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Staff was very friendly. Check in was a breeze. Wifi was only included in our stay because we were marriott members orherwise there would have been a charge. Our room on the 10th floor had a beautiful view of the city.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
Safe
- 4/5
My only complaint was that the shower/tub was dirty. There was hair on the tub and hair on the wall.
- 4/5
It was nice, a little dated but not super dated. The rooms were spacious enough. Clean. And walkable to a lot. We throughly enjoyed our stay here!
- 5/5
The beds truly are heaven. Staff is great and responsive to requests
- 5/5
The hotel advised I should contact Expedia as I booked through you. Please advise… It would be nice to get that last night back!
- 5/5
Great place to stay, would choose again.
- 5/5
Our stay at The Westin was fabulous. From the moment we walked in everyone was friendly. We were given lots of recommendations for restaurants and entertainment. Our river view room was amazing. We enjoyed happy hour at the 360 bar and the staff were wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel. We’ll absolutely be back.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel overall
- 5/5
amazing place to stay
- 5/5
Great location amazing staff and overall beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
I highly recommend!!
- 5/5
Loved everything
- 1/5
Overpriced for subpar quality - the hotel is in a great location, but the perks end about there. The hotel could use a major facelift, including to the rooms that smelled musty / mildewy, and in the first bathroom I had, the toilet seat was peeling and in unacceptable condition. I will not be back.
- 5/5
Love the new upgraded heavenly beds
- 5/5
My husband and I arrived early and were able to check in. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect as all of our planned activities were within a 15-20 minute walk, (for the most part). Could have used a complimentary coffee station but Starbucks is available for purchase in the hotel, (limited menu). Decent bar. We’d stay here again.
- 5/5
Only complaint was I wish the room had 2 queens instead of doubles.
- 5/5

- 5/5

- 5/5
Great location and view
- 4/5
Everything was very good, except the A/C. Before the A/C starts there is a loud bang then then the A/C start. Very annoying when trying to sleep.
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
Great Hotel
- 4/5
I did not like the unforeseen extra $25 a day they added to our bill that they called a credit but if we didn’t spend it at the hotel it remained on our bill. And parking was very expensive. The hotel was otherwise nice and the location was good.
- 4/5
They are under major renovation at the front so you may want to avoid until done. I do like the hotel generally, and I love the back patio for cocktails in the afternoon. It is located downtown so you can walk almost anywhere. The rooms are nice and fairly spacious. The cost for a room with a view is much higher though. The food is pretty good for a hotel - they hand make their chips so that is must have!
- 5/5
The staff were all amazing. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Relocation on River North very accessible to shopping, restaurants, and tourist attractions
- 5/5
Much nicer than the Renaissance there which is also a Marriott
- 5/5
Prime location. Excellent room condition. Comfortable bed and pillows.
- 5/5
Fantastic location in one of the best parts of downtown Chicago.
- 5/5
If you are going to stay in Chicago I would highly recommend The Westin. From ease of getting to from the train, to the river walk. Everything you want to do is easily accessible.
- 5/5
Everything was great except the bathroom had a smell of urine. I think the waste can may have had diapers in it at some point and needed to be replaced as it picked up the smell. Also the bathrobe had make up on it. The cleaning staff may need to pay a little better attention.
- 5/5
The hotel is located in a good area with a beautiful view of the city. The staff was really friendly. The room I stayed at was very spacious and very clean. The bathroom as well. I would a hundred percent recommend this hotel and for sure would come back.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Comfy rooms. Luxury services. Loved if
- 5/5
Great location along the river with easy access to everything in downtown Chicago. One of the quietest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. We didn’t hear any noise from the hallway or other rooms.
- 5/5
.
- 4/5
Cons: No microwave in room to heat up leftovers, No breakfast included, no pool on property, price gouging on parking
- 4/5
The best part was the excellent customer service. Particularly, the staff in the executive suite lounge.
- 5/5
If I could give it 10 stars I would! I can’t even put into words how amazing the staff is! Every single person from the time you walked in the door were happy, accommodating ,engaging, and all went above and beyond to make mine and my family's first visit to Chicago that much more memorable. We will definitely be back sooner than later. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
- 5/5
Excellent service always
- 4/5
The hotel is in a great location and the staff is excellent. The bathroom is tired and could use a refresh.
- 3/5
Front desk staff member wasn't very clear with communication, or very friendly at that. Didn't seem willing to help with any special requests, or to direct me to the right people. We also weren't informed that the special credit we received with our stay had to have been used almost immediately for us to take advantage of. Room service was lackluster, and was delivered in to go containers, and they even forgot one of the meals ordered. The price of this hotel for a one night stay was definitely not worth it. Pretty disappointed.
- 5/5
Great spot for a one night stay, comfy room, quick check in
- 1/5
I had lost my only card on the way to Chicago from Minnesota, and I only had cash on me. I find it completely irresponsible of a business to turn down $1200 cash and I would have given more for deposit. Its also so unfortunate that your team or company would t have empathy on a family that traveled 9 hours and lost their cc along the way. I will not be going back. I am so angry!
- 5/5
convenient location, pretty quite, nice lounge. We sat outside and enjoyed the night air for a while as the area in front of the hotel is somewhat protected by being on a side street. They had valet parking that is $$ but worth it not to have to mess with parking, to me. I have stayed there twice with no complaints.
- 5/5
Love Westin Hotels, never disappoint
- 5/5
It would have been great to have enough toilet paper and shower gel. The phone was dusty when I called for room servicie.
- 5/5
Convenient location. Easy access. Quick check in.
- 5/5
We weren't there for a long stay, just one night. The area surrounding the hotel was OK. The room and the Hotel were very clean and well kept.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Quiet. Great amenities
- 5/5
Wonderful place to stay with a Fabulous view
- 5/5
Stay was great! Clean, friendly staff, walking distance from everything!
