Reviews
The Kinzie Hotel is a well-located property with friendly and helpful staff, offering clean rooms and complimentary breakfast and happy hour. However, some guests have complained about noise issues, both from inside and outside the hotel, and some have found the breakfast to be lackluster.

A special shout-out to the bartender at the happy hour, who provided excellent service and created a warm, enjoyable atmosphere. Their friendliness and professionalism made the experience even more memorable. Overall, a great stay, and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The staff is very accommodating, and the location is perfect for access to Neocon.

Very clean room, quiet, very comfortable bed, staff is accommodating and convenient location.

Only downside, the elevators took a while and could not use the stairs. There is only re-entry on the 1st and 6th floor.
- 4/5
You shouldn't call it a boutique hotel and offer the kind of Continental breakfast you offer: paper plates and plastic utensils do not belong in boutique hotels.

Lovely service & staff. Breakfast & happy hour were great!
- 2.5/5
Really lovely hotel, front desk staff was so kind and helpful. Every time we had a question or were even just greeting us warmly when we walked in. We liked everything about the hotel, except the very loud noise late into the night and into the early morning hours from the nearby bars. Pounding drum beat music used to be fun when I was a younger person, but now, keeps me from sleeping and I wasn’t unable to go to sleep two nights in a row at this hotel until at least 3 AM when the music stopped. The noise was just horrible. Really wished I would have known about this before booking. We were in the back of the hotel building and there was a bar/night club right across the street
- 4/5
Great location by a lot of good restaurants and was very comfortable. The breakfast/happy hour room is very dated compared to the rest of the hotel with not a lot of fresh options in the morning.

Very good
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff Lots of noise at night and housekeeping did not clean the room one day
- 4/5
The hotel was in a great location. The staff were really friendly. The breakfast and happy hour are a great plus. Only down side it was not quiet outside, however what do you expect downtown Chicago. This wouldn’t keep me from staying again!
- 4/5
Loved the property. The room was loud just because of its location. That's fine. Just hard to sleep with street noise. Should have brought ear plugs. The hotel is beautiful and clean and fun. Staff were fantastic.
- 4/5
Bedding and pillows. The rooms need a little design update. Especially the bathrooms.

Very small area for breakfast and happy hour. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms are slightly above average, but clean.
- 3/5
I liked the gentlemen who checked us in, I loved the location (very walkable to all major downtown/Loop locations), I loved the drink coupons for happy hour, I liked the gym, it was a decent breakfast (but a small room and always busy) and the room was a decent size. I hated having to use my room card to go up AND down on the elevator, I hated the HVAC system--it was totally ineffective in our room and it was so uncomfortable at night, the pillows were way too poofy and the front desk didn't have other sizes, I didn't like that I couldn't open a window for airflow--the lack of hvac air and no window open was suffocating, the parking rates were freaking absurd ($80/night for hotel guests....), I hated that you couldn't use the stairs to go up/down floors, and I would have liked a bar with a view. For the VERY expensive price, I expected WAY more.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing, staff was super nice, the room was clean, everything was 10/10

The staff here deserves all the stars! The front desk lady made check-in a breeze, and the bartender during complimentary hours was fantastic.

No couch as shown in picture of our confirmation. Reservation was for 3 adults through Hotels.com, room reservation at hotel was for only two adults. Instead of a couch for our 3rd adult was a bench. No other rooms available. Did receive a small discount but didn't fix one adult who had to sleep on the bench. Promised a follow up call from the manager that was never received. I had to reach out only to be told basically it was our fault since the reservation was only for two adults. Sent the manager a picture of our reservation and never heard back.
- 5/5
Our room 606 was very nice, but I couldn’t get that room below 69 degrees on the air conditioner. I set it to 66 degrees, and it never got to that temperature. I love my room as cold as I can get, but not this one. Other than that, love this hotel and the location . Close walk to many of the restaurants and bars we love in Chicago.
- 3.5/5
Great position, comfortable room Breakfast was pretty poor in terms of product offer. The breakfast area was also not nice: too small compared to the number of guests
- 5/5
Had a great time there. The stay was perfect!
- 2.5/5
We were given a room with sofa cum bed not functioning. We were told hotel is completely booked and there was no other room left. They told us to sleep on floor. After lot of back and forth we finally got the other room at 12 midnight.I wouldn't stay here.

1. Location.(Centrally located downtown, restaurants, museums, nightclubs, Riverwalk, magnificent mile…etc) 2. The Front test staff.(when they were present, more on that later.) 3. Cleanliness. 4. Large rooms. Needs improvement. 1. Parking. If you want to use the hotel services for valet parking, it’s going to put you out $80 a night plus tipping every time the valet retrieves or parks your car. According to Expedia, it said parking was an amenity, but mentioned nothing of the fee. Even by Chicago standards that’s crazy expensive The adjacent parking lot was $59 for 24 hours… still pricey but also cheaper. The good news is this is in a very walkable area so unless you are going outside the scope of being on foot or taking the EL, you can use the adjacent parking lot and forget about it. 2. Front desk staff. There was nobody present at checkout so it was impossible to verify the bill upon departure. We waited around for about 10 minutes along with a couple of other guests that were getting annoyed by the whole ordeal, but just a note saying they will return later. As I said earlier, the people that were there were wonderful, but having nobody there is unacceptable. The “Meh” The “Free” breakfast was a kid to something you would get at a motel six. Premade Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches under a heat lamp. The ubiquitous golden malted waffles fruit, juice, coffee, bagels, muffins, breakfast cereal. Certainly nothing spectacular but pretty boring.
- 3.5/5
The front desk was amazing — very friendly and welcoming. We had a lot of luggage, and I think the only downside was that we had to carry it to our rooms ourselves. I’m not sure if someone was supposed to assist with that, but overall it was a great experience. One thing that did make us uncomfortable was when we asked a staff member about getting hot water or how it worked. The ladies laughed afterward and seemed to make comments about us, which felt unprofessional and upsetting.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Location was on point to train station and main activities our family had planned. Some might not like the restaurant music across the street but our family was able to use it as white noise.

Outstanding hospitality and staff. Mivkey and two DeAndres conisistently went above and beyond in making our stay comforting and rewarding. Property had exellent location for our needs. Extra nightly fee (amenities) a pet peeve but seems unavaoidable in these days of rising costs for hoteliers.
- 5/5
The staff, the room, the transitional and shared spaces were all exceptional. My only complaint would be that since I was in a room across from what I believe to be a utility room for thr building, there was a consistent knocking noise that occurred throughout the night that was annoying but would not stop me from nooking a stay again in the future. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise, they had every option you'd want for breakfast. And I also appreciated that the breakfast and a happy hour are included with your stay.

It was nice having the social hour in the evenings. I was able to have my ADA dog there and they have a special area to take the dog to use the restroom. The staff was above and beyond great, they were all so nice.

Location Our first room, the window was facing a brick wall! I never seen anything like that before. we were given a different room but there were “vomit” stains ( or what appeared to be vomit like material) on the carpet, the sofa, and curtains. The staff were absolutely very nice and accommodating and since they knew it was my birthday they upgraded and given us a corner room for the inconveniences. You have very nice staff and I really appreciated their kindness and fast efforts to give a room I was satisfied with.

I like that it was close to everything it didn’t take long to get to where I wanted to go for the time that I was there Well, when I got there the revolving door had shattered glass as if it had been either hit by something hard or a bullet. And also, their breakfast was limited. The room was okay but the pictures online are a bit deceiving.

Very clean, very central and the staff extremely helpful. Jonny who was on the door was so helpful guided us in the right direction and was always attentive The breakfast room was smaller than anticipated however in other hotels the breakfast wasn’t included

I like the room, and everything was clean. But I wish if you add a kettle for heating water inside the room. I beleive that guests need a kettle to make some tea. The room has a good view and spacious. I like everything in the room. It was very clean and spacious. The beds was very comfortable. The room has coffee machine . The break fast was good but it didn't has any salad or vegitables. I wish if you add some eggs and vegitables to the breakfas

- 5/5
The staff was super helpful, the location was perfect (a cool 25 minutes from O’Hare) as it was walkable to the main blvd, Michigan Ave and endless restaurants plus bars, overall the hotel room was spacious and clean, fairly updated. We missed the opportunity to check out the complimentary happy hour but that’s oka as we loved our stay. Definitely would book here again!

Would have preferred no resort fee, instead of marginal breakfast.

Friendly and helpful staff. Location great for AIC and loop. Would have preferred no resort fee, instead of marginal breakfast.

The staff was AWESOME! I have stayed here many times and loved all the amenities, clean rooms, hotel lobby, and would recommend you stay there. Small hotel sand quiet.
- 5/5
The location was exceptional. We took the train from the airport to the Lake/Clark station and walked about 5 min to the hotel. We were able to walk to all of the sights we wanted to see. The staff was very friendly, and our room was perfect. The breakfast and happy hour are extra added benefits. We would definitely stay there again.

Good location and free breakfast There was this guy at the front desk who told us that we had to wait for 30mins to check in since we were there at 2pm and check in time is at 3pm. We’re a family of 4 and just came from a 14hr flight. We patiently waited in the lobby and saw that guy check in about 5 people starting 2:30pm. I was looking at him hoping he’d get a hint that we wanted to be checked in as well. He just ignored me and continued to check in other people arriving. I just thought maybe our room isnt ready yet. At exactly 3pm i was really exhausted and came up to him asking if our rooms ready. He said yes and checked in me and what’s even worse is he didnt go through his usual check in spiel. He said ‘so as you’ve heard we lock in doors and at 9pm and serve breakfast’ and that’s it. I was like what the hell!! You made us wait when the room was ready and didn’t even had the decency to treat us properly! I would have rated the hotel higher if not for that guy!

There was also a card. As a courtesy, there made sure my room was ready when I arrived from a long international flight, at 8:30am. I highly recommend the Kinzie. It is well located and a wonderful place to retreat from work or from fun.

Clean room & bathroom. Room temperature easily adjustable. Friendly staff in reception area - very helpful. Happy Hour daily on 6th floor as well as complimentary morning breakfast.

Noise from outside but that's the city, not the hotels fault. Loved seeing the city alive and I picked city view.

In our mid 60's and after walking about town all day we came back to find that our elevator was broken. Unfortunately, our room was on the top floor and steps were our only option.
- 4/5
Good location, nice staff, evening happy hour was a bonus. Breakfast was decent but the space was too crowded. Comfortable bed.
- 4/5
The three best things about the Kinzie Hotel are (1) the location (right in the heart of downtown Chicago, across the river from the Loop, an easy walk to lots of restaurants, El stations, bridges across the Chicago River), (2) the friendly, helpful staff, and (3) the great room rate for being in the middle of it all. For those three reasons alone I would consider staying there again. The room itself was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a nice-sized TV. Some of the drawbacks: (1) The complimentary breakfast is about the level of quality you would get at a Best Western: microwaved breakfast sandwiches, mediocre muffins and bagels, mediocre coffee -- but it's free. (They do have a waffle maker, which is actually nice.) (2) Every time you turn the bathroom light on or off, the overhead vent makes a loud whirring noise that lasts about 5-7 seconds. There's a sign explaining what's making the noise, and they provide a weak night light so you don't have to turn the light on, but it's still an annoying feature. (3) I couldn't really control the temperature in my room. It seemed like no matter what I set the temperature to, it was a constant 70 degrees in the room.
- 5/5
Loved this well-appointed hotel! Excellent rooms, location and service!! We were extremely happy with this hotel!
- 5/5
Very central location. The property is clean and the staff is welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious.
- 5/5
Helpful staff. Breakfast was minimal can be improved. Would have liked an electric kettle in the room.

Location and cheap parking near
- 4.5/5
Proximity to downtown and subway was a huge plus. So much at our fingertips and just 30 minutes from the airport too. Being close to downtown also means sirens and city noise. This couldn’t be helped but it’s worth noting.
- 5/5
I had a handicapped room. I don’t appreciate it when they do not tell you at check-in. I was only one night so I didn’t make a big deal of it but if I was multiple nights, it’s really hard for the bathroom. The mirror is not high enough. There is no counter space and the shower is not a normal shower. I understand that you need to have handicap rooms, and I probably would be fine with it one night and not said anything but honestly, they need to set expectations when you are checking in
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable. Nice location! Walking distance to River and Magnificent Mile shopping. Nothing
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay and will be our "go to" when visiting Chicago!
- 5/5
Spotless room and a comfortable bed. Can't beat the location. Room was not super soundproofed, but not the worst I've ever experienced.
- 4/5
The space had ample room for myself and my traveling companions. My favorite part of the room was the long day bed in front of the window. I reclined there and relaxed after a long day walking. The room had a good HVAC system and we could keep a good temperature for sleeping. The bathroom was spacious. We took advantage of the managers reception in the early evening and had complementary drinks and snacks. We also appreciated and utilized the continental breakfast each morning with a variety of offerings.
- 4/5
wonderful
- 5/5
The hotel is clean and the staff is wonderful ! This was my second time staying and I plan on continuing to stay here anytime im in town. Rooms were clean and comfortable! Breakfast was good… had a good variety!! 10/10
- 3/5
I didn’t take advantage of breakfast
- 4/5
Everything was great, the location the room at the shower water pressure was absolutely terrible
- 5/5
This was the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in! We were able to keep our luggage here until we checked in, there was complimentary breakfast which was amazing and even happy hour drinks!
- 4/5
We liked everything about our stay, except our room was noisy- heard lots of outside noise and room doors slamming shut were very noisy.
- 5/5
Really cozy place to stay, it's within walking distance from a lot a restaurant
- 5/5
Very helpful desk staff!! Somewhat limited items at front desk for purchase (ex: we forgot our toothpaste and they didn’t have any)
- 5/5
The happy hour reception was a great touch, and the breakfast servers were just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. You can tell the staff takes pride in creating a great experience. Comfortable rooms, great atmosphere, and top-notch service all around. I would absolutely stay here again!
- 5/5
Great stay
- 3/5
The staff was really great and the room was fine, nothing exceptional but nothing bad. The walls were thin and we when our neighbors pulled up their shades it was so loud it woke us up. We got a call at 7a with nobody on the other end, that also woke us up. haha
- 4/5
Could have done with cold water and more food available to buy but really liked the hotel. Lovely room
- 5/5
Clean room and great staff!

- 5/5
Nice and clean hotel, friendly staff.
- 5/5
Our room was beautiful with the city view and huge windows. Everything was impeccable, clean, in great condition, elegant. Staff was efficient and friendly. What a nice way to welcome clients by offering them a free beverage during happy hour daily! It was also very convenient to have continental breakfast included. Lots of good choices. The small refrigerator in the room is convenient, the double headed shower and the Tumi toiletries are a nice touch. The price was right and we hope to return on our next trip to Chicago. Just across the street is Harry Carey’s Italian restaurant, a STK restaurant; just two blocks away is a CVS pharmacy. It’s located of short walk from Michigan Avenue and a block away from the river.
- 5/5
Located in the heart of downtown Chicago. It’s close to all major restaurants and venue.

Very quiet space in a great location a block off the river with a nice complementary breakfast each morning and a couple of drinks each evening.

Staff was extremely helpful. Rooms were clean and nearby lots of shopping and restaurants. Good continental breakfast in the morning too. Only negative was it was noisy at night with door clicking and noise when you turn on bathroom light at night. It wakes everyone with you up.

Room was great and the staff was friendly.
- 5/5
Great front desk staff. Very helpful and personable.
- 5/5
Everything was great. Free drinks and snacks in the evening and free breakfast as well. This was our third time staying at the Kinzie. Its a great hotel in the heart of Chicago at a reasonable price. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
No wash in bathroom was the only down side
- 5/5
Great location and value
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was great.

The room was clean and the staff was very kind and helpful with any question we had

- 5/5
Nice & clean with a nice view.
- 5/5
The staff was welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable—we loved being able to control the temperature and the double shower head— and the building itself is beautiful. Would return!

Cleanest rooms I've ever stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
Breakfast amazing Location brilliant near Trump International Hotel
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Really no bar per say, it’s a room on the 6th floor and it’s only open for two hours! The continental breakfast has a lot to be desired!
- 3/5
Breakfast is not what you expect for a 4 star hotel
- 2/5
The bathroom lighting was terrible
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
Loved the two free drinks at happy hour!!
- 5/5
Deandre was so welcoming. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a better front desk service. He definitely made an already perfect stay even better.
- 5/5
Very clean room and hotel, breakfast was great, location amazing, staff was so friendly!
- 5/5
Perfect location, great rooms, modern hip vibe, friendly staff all make this one of my best Chicago Christmas trips yet. Will definitely book this hotel again in the future.
- 5/5
Wonderful. The staff was amazing and the room was beautiful and it was in an ideal location. The only sore spot was that breakfast was suburban chain hotel bad.
- 5/5
The whole experience
- 5/5
We just slept there
- 3/5
Room was fine. Bathroom was large but had no counter top to place personal items or hair tools as it had a pedestal sink. Only had enough towels for one when we indicated we had 4 staying in the room.
- 5/5
Location
- 5/5
Really nice hotel, great location and really affordable!
- 5/5
Great stay as always.
- 5/5
This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at
- 5/5
Great hotel, we will 100% come back. Very clean, breakfast included (not many hotels offered this). Safe area to walk around and many dining options near by. Short walk to the stores, the bean and many other tourism atractions. We had a city view room and it was amazing. Staff was very friendly - do not hesitate to choose this hotel over a hilton/hampton, you will not regret it.
- 5/5
The service throughout my stay was exceptional. Every staff member I interacted with was helpful and friendly, making me feel very welcome. Two things that really stood out were the free continental breakfast (a great way to start the day) and the complimentary happy hour. Getting two free drinks in the evening was such a nice touch! I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Chicago.
- 5/5
Excellent desk staff. Comfortable room and good location
- 5/5
Room was big and spotless. The reception staff were so amazing and friendly and helpful and the evening reception was a lovely touch especially Jose on the bar so chatty and kind. Shout out to Mickey on reception for always being happy and friendly x and porter in reception for getting us our big taxi back to the airport and helping us with our ten suitcases into the big taxi - 4th visit to Kinzie Hotel would recommend it and will be back soon
- 4/5
Good.location, nice clean rooms with comfortable beds.
- 5/5
They went out of their way to help. Rooms were very clean and nice, along with a comfortable bed.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Room was big and bed was very comfy. I would stay here again
- 3/5
Staff was amazing they when over the top to help us out!! I was really disappointed about the bathrooms on both rooms they need to be updated a soon is possible they don’t go with the price I paid and the area is more high end demand.
- 5/5
Will stay here again!
- 5/5
Clean room, quiet

- 5/5
Me encantó. Todo espectacular desde la recepción hasta la habitación 10/10 ❤️
- 5/5
Friendly helpful staff. Good location. 5th stay here.
- 4/5
Nice hotel in the heart of downtown; many good restaurants plus the Grand Red Line "L" Station within walking distance. Toilet clogged up unfortunately.
- 5/5
Everyone at the front desk/whole lobby team but so nice and helpful and so welcoming. The hotel was so clean and our room had a great view
- 5/5
Room was very clean. All the staff from the front-desk to the breakfast room were friendly and helpful.

Staff was very helpful and courteous.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff. Rooms were very clean and spacious.

Good stay, good service, VERY COMFY BED!!
- 5/5
Great room. Clean. Excellent shower. Well priced
- 5/5
Clean rooms, nice staff, good atmosphere
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff. Great location that made entertainment and things to do walkable.
- 3/5
The air in the room was very dry and stuffy. The parking garage did not take certain vehicles which was a headache to find parking last minute.
- 5/5
The room was great. Enjoyed the happy hour. Very friendly front desk staff
- 5/5
Hotel was clean & beautiful. Will be back.
- 5/5
Staff was so welcoming! Hotel was clean and quiet and in a great location
- 4/5
Good
- 5/5
The room was spacious and clean. Front desk and housekeeping staff were very accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this property to anyone. Also the centralized location to restaurants and shops was a huge bonus.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent, room was gorgeous and clean.
- 4/5
The room was clean. The breakfast had a variety of things to choose from.
- 5/5
Great room and service! The complimentary breakfast and happy hour were A+
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and nice hotel. Will come again.
- 4/5
Clean room, attentive staff, easy check in/out. I wish the breakfast/happy hour thing was better considering the quality of the hotel. Also, really strange they put the towels on a weird shelf under the sink and not on the bed or something. Not a good place to put clean towels.
- 5/5
Best location for a hotel in downtown chicago, excellent service, room clean, bed excellent. 100% recommended
- 5/5
My only complaint was the breakfast was really disappointing. Otherwise, the service was amazing, the room was very nice, and the location was perfect for us!
- 5/5
The Kinzie Hotel was quite accommodating letting us check in early and the room was wonderful. Nicely designed with Chicago map wallpaper even. It was well located and only a block away from a great blues club. They not only offered breakfast but also a happy hour with free drinks and snacks. Overall, the Kinzie felt hospitable and friendly unlike most city hotels.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable. Good water pressure. The staff was friendly.
- 5/5
As always The Kinzie keeps raising the bar on places that I stay nationally for business!
- 5/5
Great hotel and fantastic location!!
- 5/5
People were so friendly and helpful. Always greeted us with a smile and always ready to give us recommendations for food and fun.
- 5/5
The windows in the room overlooked the city, and it was super fantastic!
- 5/5
Microwave would be nice
- 5/5
The ENTIRE staff was elite. Exclusively staying at the Kinzie when in Chicago. James, amazing human. Deandre, Lani, Mickey, Angel, Michael, I will always remember my first trip to Chicago. Thank you for making me feel at home.
- 3/5
Our floor reeked of weed every day we were there, and none of the staff seemed to care or do anything about it even after being notified. Overall, nothing to write home about. It’s super loud outside between cars, and emergency vehicles driving by every 5-10 minutes. If I knew this prior, I wouldn’t have stayed here
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay, would stay again for sure.
- 5/5
The room was a queen size room and was very comfortable. I enjoyed the sitting area with the couch by the window, and the bathroom was roomy and well-appointed.
- 5/5
Excellent service anf facilities. Harry Carey restaurant right across the street. Can walk to Michigan Avenue easily. VERY nice rooms.
- 5/5
Incredible spot! We booked for the location (near our office) and were wowed by the service, amenities and charm of the property. The staff was so kind and welcoming. It really was impressive.
- 3/5
cleani room
- 5/5
Great staff.
- 5/5
Our stay at the Kinzie Hotel was nothing less than fantastic! The room was comfortable and clean. The staff on our arrival and departure was amazing! Can not recomend this hotel enough. This is going to be our go to hotel when visiting Chicago.
- 4/5
Hotel is conveniently located near main tourist attractions downtown. Room was spacious and comfortable. It's a little noisy, but not unexpected for inner city. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The staff were exceptional, a special shout out to Deandre for his welcoming demeanor. While some of the furnishings of the hotel are a bit worn, it is clean, spacious, and comfortable. Breakfast has a lot of variety and the complimentary happy hour was a nice touch! We loved the location of the hotel, central to cross the river or go up to the Magnificent Mile.
- 5/5
Nice choices. Oranges. Yogurt. Cereal. Waffles. Egg/Sausage sandwich. Granola. Coffee. Tea. Juices. Instant oatmeal. Bagels. Muffins. Nice range of hours.
- 5/5
Pleasant surprise.
- 5/5
The staff was incredible. They were very friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. The hotel was very clean and high quality. Will stay there again!
- 3/5
The nitely serve fee at $32 was a bit odd.
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Breakfast and happy hour were a nice surprise. This was a great hotel in downtown Chicago with lots of dining and entertainment locations nearby.
- 3/5
Breakfast is very basic, location is good, noisy outside. Great happy hours.
- 5/5
I liked the room amenities, spaciousness of room, and location to shops, restaurants, and transportation. A plus was the free two drinks (wine and/or beer) per person provided in the early evening.
- 5/5
Perfect stay and location
- 5/5
Amazing location
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
The location is excellent. Amenities are ok. But the quietness is best.
- 4/5
Great location, easy to walk to everything. Happy hour was a little misleading. Thought there was a bar in the hotel. Just wine and beer offered from 5-7pm. Also depending on what side of the building you are on, there was live music going on outside until 3am each night.
- 5/5
Loved it, great location and very friendly staff!
- 5/5
Friendly staff Breakfast was only disappointing part of stay. Overcrowded and minimal food selection
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good with entry of options. Gym was well stocked and larger than expected.
- 5/5
Good
- 2/5
The bed was super comfy like sleeping on a cloud, but I was not impressed by anything else. We had a room on the 2nd floor and it was so noisy early in the morning with garbage dumpsters in the alley. View was a brick wall. Also the “breakfast” was underwhelming. Some muffins. Cereal. Coffee was empty by 8:30. And the food stations and guests were crammed in a very tiny windowless room.
- 5/5
Completely as advertised. Plus some free drinks and breakfast
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Nice room with comfortable beds. Great location. Only thing we didn’t like was the breakfast which is in a small internal room and had limited choices. The general lack of eco/recycling was disappointing but that may be more an issue of the state rather than this hotel.
- 2/5
Received no upgrades despite asking since our first room looked at heinous machinery. They were admittedly unaware of Expedia perks. Staff was very pleasant but still would not return to this property. Also the building is ony 6 floors so street noise can be a big problem.
- 5/5
Clean and friendly staff. Close commute to restaurants and tourist attractions. Over all experience was great.
- 4/5
It was fine
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
As a plus the staff were excellent and hotel situation perfect. I would return if the baths were replaced
- 5/5
Every staff employee was very friendly and helpful. Safe hotel with room key access to building and elevator. Good complimentary breakfast and happy hour. Easy walking to food and shopping.
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, and very centrally located. I loved my stay.
- 5/5
Great service at front desk. Fast checked n. Dry pleasant.
- 4/5
The location is ideal. We were able to walk just about everywhere. Again, stellar staff.
- 5/5
All staff were very friendly and the Kinzie is located in the middle of everything!
- 5/5
Wonderful service, comfortable bed, clean and quiet, and close to the river. Great location. Will definitely book again.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was helpful and friendly, they were very helpful.
- 5/5
Convenient to a lot of places I wanted to go.
- 5/5
Thought the Staff was amazing! Kind, friendly, accommodating, breakfast was great! Room was confortable and modern. Would definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Very clean room. Great location. Nice breakfast. Staff was great.
- 3/5
Did not receive any VIP.
- 5/5
The entire team was incredible: friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The hotel felt very safe, with key card access required for both entry and elevators. Amenities were excellent, including a daily happy hour with two complimentary beverages, unlimited bottled water from the front desk, and thoughtful touches throughout. The location couldn’t be better, very walkable with plenty of restaurants and entertainment nearby. If you don’t want to use the hotel’s parking, there’s a convenient garage just a 30-second walk away. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and every detail made for a 10/10 experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Very clean, trendy & modern, great security, and amazing staff!!
- 4/5
Very nice and clean.
- 5/5
Wonderfull hotel.
- 5/5
Great location. Very clean. Breakfast is good

- 5/5
Nice hotel & staff was friendly
- 5/5
bathroom & shower excellent room size quite large.
- 5/5
Nice hotel in great location. Very friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms.
- 3/5
On the other hand, mattress is too soft. Comparing our last stay in 2011, we miss the previous breakfast and happy hour.
- 5/5
Very helpful the entire stay, held onto our luggage so we could go out before our flight home.
- 5/5
Our second stay here. Very nice. Good breakfast! Nice staff. Very helpful. Comfy bed!

- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Clean and felt safe
- 3/5
This hotel is okay. Doesn’t offer anything by over the top that any other place doesn’t offer. They tack on this amenity fee which in my opinion, is ridiculous, but whatever. Smack dab right in the middle of everything you want in Chicago. Cleanliness and service could be a lot better.
- 4/5
The property was in a great location, staff was amazing, free breakfast was great, however our room on the second floor faced an alley and resteraunt and the noise level was intolerable. Trash service in alley daily at 530 am, food delivery trucks, resteraunt operations, crowds and music until 2am, there was no rest in this room at all.
- 2/5
My experience at Kinzie was unfortunately not a good one. I arrived at the hotel at 3pm to check in just to find out my room was not yet ready. It wasn’t a big deal because I need to do a tour anyways so I went and can’t back 3 hours later only to be told once again that my room (which was now a different room) still wasn’t ready and needed to wait 30+ minutes for the room. I ended up needing to take a different room that I booked with no view. No amenities were explained to me I was just given a key and told what the room number was.
- 4/5
Pro tip: go to Harry Carey’s across the street and sit at the bar
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Quick checkin/out. Clean.
- 5/5
this is a great location, walking distance to sight seeing, great restaurants, shopping. complimentary water, happy hour and breakfast made everything all that more great. i cant reccomend this hotel enough. the front desk staff are great and very helpful.
- 5/5
Staff was extremely warm and welcoming. Property was conveniently located near dining option, transit and site seeing.
- 4/5
The manager reception was terrible. The snack was a bag of popcorn. The hotel needs updating especially the bathroom. The location is great and the staff helpful
- 5/5
Clean property and staff was welcoming!
- 4/5
Great location for a weekend trip. It's VERY noisy on Saturday nights as it's right in the heart of a bar district. Sunday night was MUCH more quiet.
- 5/5
Our room was comfortable, the staff was excellent, the breakfast was as expected and the happy hour was a nice touch.
- 4/5
Was fine for the price. Continental breakfast was nice to get you going with some pastries, bagels, waffle bar, Jimmy Dean sand., cereals, etc. But have stayed at other hotels around the city and find
- 5/5
The Kinzie hotel was great for our family! Close to restaurants and shopping. Staff was excellent and very attentive. Asked for extra pillows and they were delivered quickly. Front desk was extremely kind and helpful. Breakfast was perfect to get the day started.
- 2/5
In short, the Kinzie Hotel is not at all the image of a 4 star hotel. How it is rated as 9.2 Wonderful on Hotels.com is perplexing. I'll start with our arrival, we were the only people waiting to check-in and reception clerk was on a customer service call for 10 minutes before he acknowledged our presence. The overall hotel is dated. Our room's shower was falling out of the wall, the shower curtain couldn't close, which made me tempted to purposely flood the bathroom and our room was next to their neon sign making me think of the Seinfeld fried chicken episode. The pillows were lumpy and the bed felt old. The cherry on top was going to breakfast at 915 (breakfast closes at 930) only to find out that the coffee urn was empty and they refused to make any more. Even a trash hotel offers their guests coffee anytime. I'll say the location is certainly prime and our stay didn't stop us from enjoying this beautiful city, but given the option, I would stay anywhere else...which they wouldn't let me do when I contacted hotels.com customer service. Steer clear of the Kinzie!
- 4/5
Valet process was nice, but I don’t think the cost equates being charged 90 bucks. I was quoted 76 for valet. Confusinf
- 5/5
Perfect location. Beds super comfy.
- 4/5
We liked the excellent service, happy hour and complimentary continental breakfast. The carpets and flooring in the dining area were in really bad condition, as were the wood furniture pieces (lots of knicks and wear damage). If you're going to allow pets, more appropriate flooring needs to be installed. We loved the high pressure shower but hated the rust in our tub. The staff was top-notch...10/10 in friendly customer service.
- 5/5
We are repeat visitors. Love the staff, the location and the comfort! Really a great little gem of a hotel in the middle of everything!
- 5/5
The bed was amazing ( King Tut ) was in his element and he also loved the gated area for his bathroom needs and the opportunity to have a run off his leash.
- 5/5
Very clean hotel near many store, restaurants, and clubs. Room is extremely large compared to rooms I’ve had at other hotels in the area.
- 5/5
Kinzie was awesome because it did not systematically stench up the air and the rooms with toxic scents as do so many today, many even pouring it in through the HVAC system. I emailed and was informed that Kinzie is a hypoallergenic hotel and I wouldn't have to suffer. We have a WINNER! It was a great stay!
- 4/5
Need better sound proofing room, else a decent budget option for staying in downtown with free breakfast.
- 3/5
The happy hour and breakfast leave something to be desired. It feels like this may be an up and coming hotel. The amenities were really lacking and our tv apps did not work. The maintenance said that the hotel was booked so the Wi-Fi couldn’t work as well, but our other devices were connected just fine, so not sure what happened there. The VIP perk was two bottles of water, even though there were three of us, and the water was warm.
- 5/5
Spectacular
- 5/5
Great stay for the weekend. Check-in was seamless. Valet was great! Any time we were in or out of the building, staff greeted you with a smile and ‘hello’.
- 5/5
Beautiful rooms, extremely comfortable beds, nice staff and wonderful location. Hope to stay here again!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, comfortable room.
- 5/5
The Hotel was excellent! Very clean!
- 4/5
Seemed dated
- 5/5
Great location and very good accommodations for the price!
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
Clean and good location
- 5/5
Convenient location to many things.
- 5/5
The 2 welcome drinks every day including wine and beer and the free breakfast which is very comprehensive considering there is no charge were both unexpectedly pleasant surprises. The staff are very friendly and efficient. A great choice
- 5/5
The location is just perfect. So close to everything that Chicago has to offer, so convenient! There is a parking garage one block away (Greenway) from the hotel. The staff was SO friendly and helpful. The breakful was great but a bit crowded, the beds were so comfortable!!!!! FREE wine and (tap) beer from 5-7pm!!!!! Just overall awesome!!! 10/10 We would definitely stay again!!!!
- 4/5
The entire staff was all very nice and helpful! From front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast staff. We did not have a great view. The room was not bad but very narrow and seemed like it needed a refresh as stuff was a little banged up. The shower was older style and the curtain was too short so water dripped over the side . The room did seem clean. Missed out on the free drinks but the continental breakfast was great and the staff manning kept it stocked. Front desk staff were very friendly and so was housekeeping. The valet parking was a little weird we had no valet attendant . We left our car on the street and key at the desk but it all was good no issues just not normal valet experience. It’s a good hotel if u aren’t going to hang out at the hotel as there are no real big common spaces;however There are plenty of hangout options close.
- 5/5
This hotel was so beautiful! Easy to access and felt very safe with key cards to enter the building after hours. There was a happy hour with drinks and snacks that we enjoyed, also a breakfast in the morning, which is unusual for a hotel in the city! Our room was very clean and spacious! The staff was friendly and helpful! We loved that it was so close to the river and tons of restaurants, easy access to the park and lots of shopping! Definitely will stay here again!
- 5/5
Everything in this area is expensive, but all things considered, the Kinzie is the best bang for your buck! Great spacious room and bathroom, breakfast and happy hour, amazing staff!
- 4/5
I wish they still had robes. Those were nice robes.
- 5/5
Front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean, and I had no issues. Excellent location.
- 5/5
Excellent location, friendly staff. Room was large and bright.
- 5/5
Great area, close to lots of Restaurants and attractions.
- 3/5
Room wasn’t ready for check in almost an hour past check in time, but Deandre was able to move us into a room that was ready. The initial desk associate just said “check back in an hour to 30min. The hotel has no lobby or shared space other than an odd “hospitality room” on one of the upper floors with a nightly “happy hour” and breakfast. It was a functional hotel, but nothing really worth 250 a night.
- 5/5
Great hotel, conveniently located, comfortable, loved the city views.
- 5/5
Everything is good
- 5/5
Good quality
- 3/5
The rooms were a bit out dated and not clean but the front staff was nice!
- 5/5
Staff wonderful, updated hotel.
- 5/5
Our room was beautiful and comfortable! We had the City View which overlooked the street in front of the hotel. This added some excitement as we enjoyed watching the people on the street below. Oh, and did I mention Happy Hour? Yes, Happy Hour from 5p-7p everyday! The hotel lobby was a little bare in my opinion, like it needed some art on the walls or plants in the corners. But that doesn't change our opinion of the hotel and we will definitely stay again! Loved!
- 3/5
I was trying to checkin early but they didn't have a room ready. Understandable for sure but they said they would give me a call within the hour when a room is available. Almost 2 hours goes by and nothing so i decided to go back before heading to my next adventure. There was a line almost out the door of people trying to check in. The guy saw me and said oh I forgot to call you but we have rooms available now, wait off to the side and we will get you checked in. He proceeded to check in everyone else and more people came in but wouldn't check me in until the whole lobby was empty. They finally get me checked in and need to grab my bags they were holding while I waited. He takes the tickets from 4 people and grabs all of their luggage and gets mine last. Whole thing took almost 45 minutes. I'm sorry but after not calling me, making me wait to check in and grabbing my bags last I felt some type of way. would probably stay somewhere else next time
