Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, the hotel's cleanliness and condition are major concerns, with multiple reviews mentioning dirty rooms, unpleasant smells, and outdated facilities. The location is also a point of contention, with some guests appreciating the convenience to highways and local amenities, while others find it misleading and unsafe.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Convenient location for some guests
- Unclean and outdated rooms
- Misleading or unsafe location
- 3/5
Hotel room was nice, especially for the price near downtown. Very short drive to downtown. Pool was really small and windows were very dirty. Located off a “rough” exit. But ok for one night.
- 3.5/5
Location was ideal. Breakfast was okay. We stayed two nights and the breakfast was different between to two mornings. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable. The floors are filthy.
- 4/5
Room was completely functional and comfortable. Breakfast was minimal compared to other BW properties but was constantly kept refreshed and clean. Only complaint was with lack of maintenance in pool area - lounge chairs were long past their usefulness and uncomfortable. Towel rack was empty. Water was cloudy in both pool and jacuzzi
- 4/5
clean and nice staff poor shower pressure

- 3/5
Location The room was ok. Only 2 outlets worked in the room. 1 light blinked off/on all night the 2nd night there. Outlet covers were very loose, not allowing plugs to sit properly.
- 3/5
The wireless wouldn't stay connected to y tablet in room. The phones were out in the entire hotel which noone mentioned at check-in which meant a trip to the front to ask a question. The free breakfast was worth about what it costs. The staff was adequate but not very friendly or approachable feeling. In the room, the A/C unit made awful noise the entire time. The elevator sounded like it could fail at any moment, scary noises and weird jerking.
- 5/5
Juice machine broken as well as hot water dispenser. Staff didn't speak much English. Kept yelling coffee at me. I don't drink coffee.
- 4/5

- 4/5
Good accommodations for overnight stay in Knoxville.
- 4/5
There was no breakfast offered. Room was very clean and nice just a little small.
- 1.5/5
Convenience to restaurants and major highway. It smelled horrible. The smell consisted of a wet dog odor.
- 2.5/5
The location was great and staff were friendly. We stayed with my dog and it was comfortable for her. There were kids partying on the sidewalk outside of our room on the first floor. The nightstand also had dried puke all down the side of it.
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff and decent breakfasts for the kids Was super outdated and needed some work and the pool area was cold and no towels in the pool area.
- 4/5
Breakfast was ok The hotel was not really downtown
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean well maintained property. Have stayed here prior to this visit and would stay again.
- 3/5
We stayed here for my son’s graduation. All our favs were $800 a night. Knoxville hotels price gauge when there is a special event. This hotel was priced well and not over priced. Nothing special but a place to lay our heads for the weekend.
- 3/5
Staff was nice.
- 3/5
The room appeared nice however the bed had a funny smell and the pillows may have been the worst I've ever seen. They were the size of throw pillows and incredibly lumpy.

The front desk attendant, Betty, was absolutely fabulous. She was knowledgeable, professional, and made the process quick and easy.
- 5/5
The property’s location was great for our overnight stay for a concert at Neyland. It was close, just a short drive and conveniently located. The lobby, our room, bathroom, and breakfast area were all clean and satisfactory. We had a mishap in our packing and some of our luggage got wet, including some clothes we were planning to wear that evening. The guy at the desk, I believe he was the owner, or at least the manager, was so accommodating and dried our clothes for us free of charge, and he was happy to do so. He was very kind and friendly, including the next morning at breakfast when he asked if we had a good time at the concert. The breakfast was great as well. Good selection, fresh and clean. I would 100% recommend a stay here. Some parts may seem a little out of date and could use a bit of an upgrade, but it was nothing that would keep me from staying here again. N/A

- 4.5/5
The rooms were very large and comfortable. Front desk staff were very pleasant and accommodating. It was also very nice to have the room cleaned every day during our stay. The A/C unit was a bit loud at times, but over all it was acceptable
- 3/5
The biggest issue for me was the location. The hotel is marketed as “downtown,” but it is actually about 5.5 miles away and around an 11-minute drive. When I asked the front desk, I was told downtown was only 3 minutes away, which was misleading. The surrounding area also felt a little sketchy and not what I would consider a true downtown or walkable location. There is a grocery store and a few restaurants nearby, which was convenient, but if you are wanting to stay within walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants, nightlife, or the fairgrounds, this probably is not the hotel for you. They do offer a continental breakfast, but we chose not to eat there. It did not look like anything particularly special, and the breakfast area itself was not very inviting. The TV selection was also very limited with only a few channels and no real movie options, so keep that in mind if you are traveling with kids and hoping to keep them entertained during downtime.

A variety of breakfast items. Easy parking. Staff helped us quickly when our room door wouldn’t lock.
- 4/5
Place is seriously dated but room is very clean. If you need no nonsense low cost room to get 6-8 hrs of sleep, this is a great choice. Near gas station, grocery store, and Waffle House!

The room was really large and had a lot of extra space for my family
- 2/5
Hotel was worn down- needed repairs, elevator seems like it was going to breakdown everytime we were on it. There was never a staff person at the front desk everytime we went in and out.
- 5/5
Very convenient location especially to the university
- 3/5
Older hotel could use some updating. Breakfast bar was good.
- 5/5
Wonderful breakfast!
- 3/5
I like Best Western and I hope they invest in renovating.
- 4/5
Very nice
- 5/5
Great breakfast, convenient parking, clean and new. Awesome for the value and facilities
- 5/5
Older hotel but clean, limited bfast choices but fresh, and there was a pool but we didn’t have a chance to use it. Would definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
One night stay with connected rooms. Roomy and comfortable. Kids enjoyed the pool and we appreciated the breakfast.
- 4/5
Premises, room and amenities were all top notch. The staff was extremely helpful with finding local hidden gems. Overall, this was the perfect ending stay to our vacation! Highly approve and recommend
- 4/5
Staff was very nice. Unfortunately we did have several small issues in the room. Broken microwave, cracked mirror, and leaking tolet.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and nothing was broken. Very cute room, comfy beds, pillows kinda sucked. Elevator was a bit slow and creaky. Hot tub was hot, jets not working but we did not care. Overall would definitely recommend and stay there again.
- 3/5
Our room smelled like wet dog. The beds were very squeaky and the breakfast had good choices, but was not good. We had to leave to go get breakfast somewhere else.
- 4/5
The staff was so kind
- 3/5
Good for a quick stay. Not worth the $250+ we had to pay on a demand weekend but at a better rate would be a good choice..
- 2/5
The whole hotel needs a makeover. The hotel front staff were not friendly! The worst hotel I have stayed at, booked through Expedia!
- 1/5
Dirty couch and very old inside.
- 2/5
We had to switch rooms after the 1st nite. Our toilet was broken and not flushing, the room heater and fan was making noises, the room had a bad smell like urine or mold. The shower curtain was ripped, the room had peeling paint as did the whole place. This hotel is is bad need of an upgrade, paint, grout, new carpet.
- 4/5
This property was very clean. However our room had some broken items. Good for a couple days stay. The beds were super comfortable.Pool area was nice but pool was freezing and they didn’t stock new towels.
- 5/5
The hotel was a great stop for a one night stay. My only suggestion is the hotel invest in larger shampoo, containers, and add lotion to the room. Other than that, it was a great day.
- 3/5
It’s a older hotel, lower your expectations
- 3/5
Mediocre. Room had an odd icky smell. Breakfast was mediocre.
- 3/5
I had to wait almost 15 minutes to check in. No one was at the front desk.
- 4/5
Yes
- 3/5
The staff was polite and my room was tolerably clean but very run down. Newer carpet but the doors were literally peeling apart, the dead bolt did not work, and the small refrigerator froze everything. There were no USB ports in the room at all. I would not stay there again if I had a choice.
- 5/5
The place was so clean so comfortable
- 3/5
Propert needs updating. Beds comfortable and bathrooms clean.
- 5/5
Friendly check in process even after midnight.
- 4/5
The staff were wonderful and the hotel was clean enough but the pool and hot tub are very old. The hot tub jets weren’t strong enough and the whole area was clearly dated. My kids did still have fun in the pool area so it wasn’t a total loss.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing but the pool was freezing cold
- 4/5
Older hotel, but clean.
- 4/5
Hot tub didn't work for 2 of our 3 days. Breakfast was good and the male attendant was courteous and kind even after quests complained, outloud to others, that he couldn't speak English. We let him know that we appreciated him. Microwave needed replaced. The rooms were clean, but could use a touch up. Ample parking.
- 1/5
Run down hotel.
- 5/5
Hot tub was disgusting and green
- 2/5
Room wasn't clean, to get to the laundry, you have to go outside (shady people out there), pool was cold, not many towels, wouldn't stay here again
- 4/5
Main seat was a little dirty and Pool was cold
- 4/5
Staff was courteous. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Nice staff. Good breakfast nice room
- 2/5
On arrival, I was given a room key went to that room and the room was not made up had to go back to reception to get another room key. They said they think that one's ready, they were not sure if that room had been checked either. Tissue box empty, no hand cream. Phone in room doesn't work. Pool area is in need of upgrades and cleaning. The blue lounging chairs are garbage, and they should be put there. The hot tub looks unhealthy to go in, the water is gray, it's very doubtful it would pass a health inspection. Sign on the pool deck by the stairs has rust on the corners, which can be very dangerous if you cut your foot on a sharp corner you'd need a tetanus shot! The water in the pool was freezing. In addition, the pool looked so much bigger in the photos on the website, the photos are very misleading. I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, this trip I was very disappointed, the place has really gone downhill, I would not recommend.
- 4/5
Our room was very clean and breakfast was good. The front staff was pleasant and efficient.
- 4/5
Hotel was clean and staff accommodating. Pool was very cold.
- 1/5
The experience started on a sour note with the front desk staff. The representative was not welcoming at all, which caught me off guard and set a negative tone for the rest of my stay. Overall, the staff lacked any sense of friendliness or hospitality. Housekeeping & Professionalism: The housekeeping situation was very unprofessional and frankly odd. The housekeeper had two or three of her children with her while she worked; one toddler was running barefoot up and down the hotel hallways. Beyond that, the actual cleaning was sub-par: • Trash: One day, the trash wasn't emptied at all. The next day, I piled trash above the bin to clearly indicate it was full. They emptied the bin but left the extra pile of trash on the counter. • Used towels weren’t taken from the shower • General: Aside from the bed being made once, very little was done to maintain the room during my stay. Room Condition: The room itself showed signs of neglect. There were several areas of damage that would be simple, inexpensive fixes, but they have clearly been ignored. It gives the impression that the hotel simply does not care about its guests or its property. This was far from an ideal stay. Between the kids running the halls, the poor cleaning, and the lack of maintenance, I truly feel this stay was not worth the money. I would appreciate a follow-up from management regarding a partial refund, as this did not meet standards

Great customer service. Clean room. Wonderful breakfast.
- 5/5
Very clean room .. comfortable bed .. staff was helpful
- 5/5
I was a little skeptical of renting this place after reading some if the reviews but I decided to give them a try and am so glad I did. The place has some wear but they are doing a good job with the upkeep. The staff is super friendly. The breakfast is a decent breakfast. They had cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, teast, waffles, eggs or cheese omlets, sausage and biscuits. The staff in the breakfast room was on top of things keeping the food restocked. We would definitely stay here again when in town for the Vols games.
- 5/5
Clean hotel and room, great place to stay if you are in town for a Vols Game.

Items on breakfast often cold. Limited selection . No milk

Good size room. Liked there were two sinks
- 1/5
Don’t expect any customer service at all.
- 5/5
Very clean! Very polite employees
- 5/5
Staff very helpful
- 5/5
We were very pleased with the large and pleasant suite. Looked and smelled bright and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and typical for hotel self serve Very convenient for our visit to U of Tenn. We will stay again and recommend
- 4/5
I don’t know about the breakfast, I don’t eat it.
- 1/5
This is the worst "Best Western" I have come across in my life. Exept for one person, other staff were extremely rude. There was no internet in the room for our entire stay. When asked, I was asked to call a toll free number and get it fixed myself ! There were no extra pillows and bedsheets in the room and when I asked the rude woman in the front desk started arguing with me that it is there. Very poor service for the money
- 5/5
Wonderful property, quickest check-in on my cross country road trip.
- 3/5
Hotel was somewhat dingy and dated in decor.
- 5/5
Went to UT game and very convenient.
- 3/5
Our room smelled terrible and both beds creeked loudly every time you moved. We could also hear our neighbors.
- 3/5
Breakfast selection was average. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Not the best area of town, but an OK spot to stop and get rest before hitting the road again.
- 5/5
Enjoyed my short stay, front desk associates were extremely helpful.
- 1/5
First room smelled like smoke very bad. Second smelled like pee but we were too tired to ask for a third. Not well lit parking in back and some folks were hanging around the church around 1am when we parked - I’m sure fine but felt a tad sketchy. During daytime seemed fine. Would recommend elsewhere.
- 5/5
It was a very quiet and private hotel, very enjoyable!!
- 1/5
We chose this hotel because it seemed like a good value during parents weekend ($300 p/n). The hotel was dirty and smelled like pesticide. The sleeping room was dark and dingy and the AC sounded like an airplane ready for takeoff. The bathroom had mildew and water pressure wasn’t great. We reserved for 2 nights but ended up cancelling the second night and moving to a Courtyard by Marriott. It was $30 more per night and 1000% nicer.
- 1/5
I booked the pet friendly room. When I got there, it smelled like cat urine. I I. Wristlet tried to cancel my reservation but since I had already checked in, it could not be cancelled. I immediately checked out and stayed next door. Still no refund despite clerk promise.
- 4/5
Very nice staff. Dated but very clean.
- 2/5
The room had a very weird smell to it. Smelled musty and like dogs.
- 5/5
Friendly & helpful staff. Very clean & comfortable. Great value.
- 1/5
I did not feel safe
- 4/5
The bed and bedding was very comfortable, the light shades worked great and I slept very well. The room was quiet even though the hotel was full. I was a bit concerned about parking, I arrived at 1AM, long drive from the midwest, and found parking. I had no issues during my stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. I stayed 3 nights. I found the room a decent size, decor a bit dated but the place was clean and fully functional. The breakfast was basic, waffle and cereal. I do feel an easy improvement would include hard boiled egg, maybe I missed them. Not much for gluten free options, but it was enough for me, I was not on vacation.
- 4/5
The bed was comfortable. The room smelled of mildew, probably because the air filter needed changing. Our room key needed to be changed out three times in our five day stay because it wouldn't work.
- 5/5
Liked everything about my stay
- 5/5
The area was not nice and the hotel was old and run down. The size of the room was good and the bed was comfortable. The hotel did not smell good when we walked in.
- 4/5
It was very clean. Breakfast can use some upgrade. Bed was not the most comfortable but was OK.
- 5/5
Staff was absolutely wonderful and friendly.
- 3/5
The hotel looks nothing like what you see in the pictures. Its is very out-dated. There was also a strange smell in our room.
- 1/5
The beds were horrible
- 5/5
My room was extremely clean and very comfortable. Only negative was a cleaning rag had been left in the bathroom sink... But I would definitely stay here again
- 4/5
Great resort for kids. Main areas are new and updated looking. Rooms were out of date with old run down flooring... Kinda smelled. Best Western hotel rooms felt luxury compared to these rooms . For a resort a not worth the money.

I had a car accident tonight before and wasn’t gonna be able to make it but I rented a Uber to make it there for my reservation. Once I arrive there was $150 deposit that was required for whatever reason which was not disclosed when I ordered the room. And once I arrived and the lady at the front desk told me about the deposit. She also made the statement that they do not usually rent Rooms to locals. I was unable to stay in the room that I paid for due to these issues. I’m very unsatisfied with how the situation was handled and will never be using that hotel again.
- 4/5
Clean, quiet hotel. Easy access to downtown Knoxville. The only thing I didn't like is what they sprayed the room with to freshen it up. I really couldn't stand the smell of it.
- 1/5
No one was there to check us in until approximately 3:30. I sat on the couch and was covered in animal hair when I stood up. One of the beds was broken and shook and creaked with every move. There was no pillows or blankets for the pull out couch. No safe to secure your items even though the door stated it did. Garbage sitting by elevator for a day and a half. Bloody towels in hallway floor 3 doors from us. Television remote only worked on down button. The refrigerator froze all our stuff solid even though we turned it all the way down. Apparently the knob is broke. It’s described as Downtown and it is not. After all of this, upon checkout the doors on the elevator were closing as we were walking off. My granddaughter was pushing on door yelling. Luckily my other granddaughter was still inside and hit the open button. The woman behind the desk didn’t even get out of her chair to see what was happening. I went to the desk to talk to her about it. She just said I’ll let maintenance know. In my opinion she should have blocked elevator access instantly. I hope and pray someone doesn’t get hurt or worse before it’s taken care of.
- 4/5
Only complaint. This was not in downtown Knoxville. It’s about 10 minutes away from downtown
- 3/5
This room was for an employee
- 5/5
It was easy to get to, very clean, the staff was fantastic. Will Definitely book again, also safe.
- 4/5
The room was clean and bed was comfortable.
- 2/5
The door lock does not work it stays open
- 3/5
Previous repairs in our room were shoddy.
- 3/5
Housekeeping staff was quick to accomodate and did left the room very clean following service. They were very polite.
- 2/5
The property is old, close to other low end properties and the lock on my door didn’t work. In other words I assumed my door was locked everytime I closed it and it was not. Maintenance had to come up twice in 3 days to fix it.
- 4/5
I like the room and the staff was great. This was my 2nd time staying at Best Western Suites Downtown Knoxville and I will return. I had a great time.
- 5/5
We visit this location on a regular basis for AAU tournaments. The staff is very friendly and provide great customer service! Rooms are always clean and great breakfast.
- 2/5
Desk manager had an attitude and the lobby smelled of stale cigarette smoke.
- 3/5
The property is just a bit dated, but bed was comfortable, it was quiet, and everything worked just fine. Carpet was worn and frayed, but I had a cat with me, so maybe I was in a "pet" room. A couple dining options close by and a few more up the road. Easy access from highway.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay here. The bed and pillows were comfortable and it was very quiet and very clean. The room is very big with two sinks and lots of mirrors throughout. Granite everywhere. The people staying here were all nice. I recommend going out for breakfast unless you only eat the waffles..the rest was ok. They did provide biscuits, gravy and eggs just not very tasty.
- 3/5
Could use some maintenance. Room was clean. Staff was very kind.
- 4/5
The breakfast was no very good
- 2/5
They need new beds loud squeek every time you moved on both beds
- 1/5
This motel is crooked and fraudulent I did not stay here did not go anywhere near this motel somehow they charge my debit card $141 I have filed a complaint against them today My advice is do not even click on their site because I don't know what happened how they got my numbers other than just a clicked on their site. Run run run from them stay clear
- 4/5
It was a decent room, but the beds were very high and we are not tall people. We won't stay here again for that reason.
- 4/5
Clean & quiet..
- 4/5
There were not any luggage carts available on the morning we were checking out. We had to make several trips to carry all our stuff out. The front desk person said they were in a room locked up.
- 3/5
Room was nice, but the outside hallways were outdated. The room smelt odd as well (like damp and wet).
- 4/5
Jennifer was lovely
- 3/5
The room itself was spacious and clean. The rest of the hotel was a little dated, but still clean. The biggest drawback is the location. Doesn't seem to be in a great part of town.
- 3/5
People were friendly. The room smelt a bit bad and the carpet was not real clean. The breakfast was lower in quality than other similar hotels.
- 3/5
Stayed here many times but this was the dirtiest the room has been. Every wall/mirror frame was filthy. The main things like bed, sink, shower was fine but the walls and doors really needed a wipe down. Curtains had holes in them. Room also had a really bad smell. Hotel was sold out so we didn’t ask to move. Front desk lady was super sewer and helpful though.
- 4/5
Staff was very nice, area seemed safe, overall the property was clean, but our particular room definitely had wear and tear. For a moderately priced hotel, it was a good choice.
- 3/5
Service was okay. Not enough towels for number of people scheduled.Hideabed extremely uncomfortable.Queen beds were comfortable.Room was clean.Desk help very nice and helpful.
- 4/5
Was an older property but decently maintained.
- 2/5
Property has seen better days, pieces were falling apart. Plenty of other options in the area was pretty disappointed
- 2/5
Advertised as downtown, not even close to downtown.
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice and helpful.
- 2/5
The towels were not clean and the room smelled
- 5/5
Appreciate having breakfast when time is a priority.
- 4/5
HVAC unit was noisy. All else was fine.
- 4/5
Small hotel but clean tidy and the staff were great. The breakfast was "OK " and there was no outside seating. Overall good hotel and would come back
- 4/5
The facility was nice. Bed and room was good. Just located further from town than we thought.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and efficient! The room was clean and ready. There needs to be more ice machines, lol! :)
- 5/5
everything ok
- 2/5
It was okay. The area around the hotel was not the best, the room smelled of cigarettes, and it just did not feel clean. However the front desk checked us in quickly.
- 5/5
Very kind and helpful staff.
- 4/5
It was a decent place for a good night’s sleep. But seniors with arthritis beware…the toilets are very low & are difficult for arthritic knees.
- 3/5
It did what it needed. It can be cleaner. They need to look at walls and update the heat and air in the rooms.
- 2/5
This hotel is NOT in downtown. It’s 9-10 minutes away. This hotel is in bad shape. Totally not worth what we paid.
- 4/5
A great budget friendly option that isn’t too far from Downtown Knoxville.
- 1/5
The stay was way overpriced. Drywall on the floor from ceiling water damage. Dirty. Smelled musty / moldy in the room. Would not recommend this hotel.
- 4/5
Friendly front desk staff. Quick overnight trip on our way home from traveling
- 4/5
Property does need a bit of updating. Staff was great. Had a handicap accessible shower, my wife said it needed cleaning and the curtain didn't keep the water from getting in the floor very well, probably due to the handheld not having a wall hook so it would hang. Hot tub only had 2 jets working & not very strong at that. But overall it was ok for a night
- 3/5
Very old and outdated hotel that is quite far from the city. Should NOT be advertised as "downtown"
- 1/5
Old and out dated
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, great breakfast options, nice pool and hot tub, quiet location. Clean, in need of a few updates, overall great experience!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Nice place for transiting. Good breakfast in morning. Lots of places to eat and fuel up the car.
- 5/5
Great hotel and location
- 1/5
Not worth it
- 3/5
We did have a fairly strong odor of cigarette smoke drifting into our room throughout the evening but, I can’t blame that on the hotel condition. The night clerk (who I called from my cell phone b/c the room phone didn’t work) offered to switch our room but my son was already dead asleep by then. We made it work for the night but, I don’t recommend this spot for anything longer.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay overnight. I would not stay longer. People hanging around the front desk wasn't the best thing I've seen. Room was nice. Breakfast in the morning could be improved greatly.,
- 5/5
We stayed one night. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly and engaging. We would definitely stay here again!
- 1/5
Absolutely horrible stay.
- 5/5
The hotel served our needs and was convenient to all the places we wanted to go.
- 2/5
The ceiling of our room was leaking water all over the bathroom and on our clothes.
- 5/5
Ok
- 4/5
Liked location from downtown, that was a plus. The hotel itself was okay.
- 5/5
Nice hotel off the highway. Manager was very helpful with our stay.
- 5/5
Convenient to many restaurants.

It was fine but definitely needs updating and better cleaning in the rooms. It smelled like wet dogs & urine in our room. The bathroom door was tore up at the bottom.

Floors were gritty with dirt in halls and elevators. Both in evening and then in the morning. Didn’t have any in the room though, I would have called about that

Great stay! Other than having to have the room key reprogrammed it was good. The receptionist was a bit rude when we had to have our key card reprogrammed as if we were an inconvenience. However the lady at check in was amazing!!!

The second room we were given was a little better but you can room service hadnt dont a good job cleaning as there were plastic knives under the bench. Most of the light fixtures were not on very well. The drywall in the room was cracked and or falling apart in some areas. If it wasnt for the fact I was the only one able to drive i would have left to find another place to stay. The next morning and the breakfast also left room to be desired.. our cups had hairs in them so we gave up on eating and left.
