Reviews
The Empress of Little Rock is a beautifully maintained and decorated historic bed and breakfast that offers a unique and charming experience for its guests. The hosts, Antonio and Keith, are frequently praised for their hospitality and attention to detail. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the breakfast offerings and the lack of modern amenities in some rooms.

Let me start by saying that the place is impressive. I was looking forward to my stay after booking. The biggest issue: the room was hot. I struggled to fall asleep on the amazingly comfortable bed due to the room being so hot. I did lower the thermostat, but the room just never cooled off. There was also cobwebs in the bathroom....I want to go back and maybe request a different room.....I wanted to give a 3 star across the board, but the property was so impressive I just couldn't go that low....the lack of personal staff interaction was also annoying.

Like taking a step back in time. This grand old home has been restored beautifully, and the interior appointments are as impressive as the exterior. If you like older homes (B&B) don't miss this one if you are passing through Little Rock.

At the Empress James is a perfect host and took care of everything we needed. We would stay again if our travels take us back to Little Rock.
- 4/5
We were able to check ourselves in without any problems. The property’s public areas were wonderfully decorated with turn of the century/ gilded age antiques. My only complaint was the lack of human interaction, I can only hope the proprietors get a welcoming robot in the near future.
- 3/5
Absolutely beautiful property. A bit disappointed by finding stained linens and a partially smoked end of something in our room for what we paid.
- 3/5
Nice stay for a night or two but it was hot in our room (we are hot sleepers) and we cannot turn off the light without also turning off the fan. There is a high pitch noise that was constant and not loud but enough to disturb sleep if you are sensitive sleepers like us. No black out curtain. We enjoy the place but didn’t have restful sleep. Perhaps not for people who are light sleepers. Owner/host were responsive and communicate quick. Well kept and safe property - just old, as it is

We arrived near sunset, entering the house to find ourselves alone in this large Victorian home as if we had stepped into the past or, perhaps more aptly, a movie scene. The silence would induce a ghostly feeling in anyone, which felt rather fun to me. Admittedly, less so for my wife. Adding to that vibe of the initial walk-through was the rather dark interior, complete with the occasional taxidermied occupant. We had to use iphone flashlight to read the room nameplates but once opening the door the suite did not disappoint. We left for dinner and, upon our return, discovered the place well-lit and inviting enough to marvel at the period details so elegantly appointed throughout the entire home. The staircases were impressive, as were the room arrangements on the second floor. The landing offers a rotunda that manages to fit seven bedrooms, each of generous space and openness. It is truly a magnificent place and the stay became a memorable delight. I found the comments in the room ledger binding me to others sharing the happy impressions their similar experiences had left on them. We very soon loved it. To say the neighborhood does not inspire confidence would be an understatement. It doesn't warm one on arrival nor give the home the surroundings it richly deserves. The nearby dwellings have barred windows and I would venture few, if any, stroll the grounds after dark. That said, a small but vibrant trove of eateries and nice bar or two are just a minute or two drive away, We had no issues.

It is important to know that there is no visible staff at this hotel. There is no check in counter, no one to help you or answer questions. The building is not accessible to anyone who needs help with stairs, carrying suitcases, etc. No one comes in to change linens, make the bed, etc. While it seems to be a historical site, it is not comfortable and lacks services that most travelers are used to.
- 5/5
The Eliza room had very nice sheets. The bed was a little squishy for our taste so we didn't sleep the best. The head board made a lot of noise too. The bathroom is small so there's not much room around the sink to get ready. The room was nicely decorated as well as the rest of the home.

Clean room, lovely decorations and breakfast was great!!
- 4/5
Parking was easy and secure. We missed having breakfast. At the present time, proprietors are only able to provide coffee & recommended a local bakery where we purchased delicious scones. I would advise older adults with mobility issues to try to book carriage as Eliza room and other rooms in house required climbing long staircase. Fortunately Ben, one of proprietors, offer to carry our luggage. Overall it was a positive experience.

No longer served breakfast!!!!! We stayed here about 4 years ago when under different management and were given a full tour of this beautiful, historic home, and had the most delicious breakfast in one of the reception rooms, a table for two. So romantic! Well, new management has stopped serving breakfast and there’s none of the feel of enjoying the reception rooms to sit and read or talk or take in the atmosphere of the olden days. I’m sorry to say it’s now just an expensive hotel with nice furniture. The breakfast was why I booked. Expedia still hasn’t changed the description to reflect this so beware: NO LONGER A B&B. Expedia tried to argue b&b is a kind of accommodation but breakfast isn’t guaranteed: fortunately they gave in and gave me a part refund. I still can’t believe it: a b&b with no breakfast.

Everything. The looks. The cleanliness. The location. It was all great. Didn’t like it was $350 dollars with no breakfast

Excellent all around!! Very easy check-in instructions, adequate parking, room was beautiful, and very clean.

The property and location was perfect, the facilities can be better. Also, I was expecting someone would be available at the property during checkin but that wasn't the case, so I had to call them to get the details. After that it went smooth. A microwave would be a great add on as there's nothing related to food at the property, we brought our own food and also went out to the suggested options and they were great. But there's nothing at the property to warm up your food or coffee ! Especially tricky if you are traveling with kids.

It’s a very interesting stay in a very authentic mansion. You could spend days just taking in all the decorative pieces.

Lovely property in a questionable area
- 3/5
Beautiful hotel in a lame neighborhood. Not very pretty neighborhood.
- 3/5
Expedia advertised that they still do breakfast and a kitchen was available as part of the amenities , but when I got there it was not true. I thought I got linked to the direct website of the place. Later I went to google and there it was plain as day, we do not do breakfast. I wish there was a mini refrigerator and microwave in the room. There was college fridge in the hallway that you share with others.
- 5/5
This is a gorgeous property with very professional, friendly, and courteous staff.
- 5/5
So very lovely, staying at The Empress of Little Rock is a memorable experience all by itself. I would love to return and stay again.
- 5/5
It was an amazing place the owner is extremely friendly and nice I loved him. The breakfast was great. This place is a must see experience.
- 5/5
Absolutely everything!! This place is gorgeous! Inside and out. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Antonio is the best! So helpful, friendly and accommodating! I felt like a VIP! Maybe the only thing if there was anything at all was the parking lot. BUT! It’s because we took the big SUV! And it all worked out, I am just bad at parking!

We had a great time at The Empress! Get the breakfast! The food is great and you might get to meet one of the owners who has lived an amazing life with many stories to tell.

Love this place , Antonio is an amazing host
- 5/5
I love old homes & this one did not disappoint! So beautifully decorated - every piece has a story. I absolutely would stay here again if I ever came back to Little Rock
- 5/5
Thank you

Beautifully maintained antebellum home. The host was quite friendly and shared good conversations with us on the porch! Def 5 starts!
- 5/5
such a unique and beautiful space. our suite was tastefully designed, thoughtfully detailed, and exceptionally clean and comfortable. the owners have done a fantastic job with the spaces in the house, and are knowledgeable about the pieces in it. will absolutely book again.
- 5/5
This is truly an experience that will bring you completely into another world and time. Lovely. Luxurious. Comfort in elegance.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing. The property and house were absolutely beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. All in all a great experience.
- 5/5
I've done a lot of traveling over the last few years, and this may be the best place I've stayed. The home is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. You can almost feel the history of the place when you walk in. Great owners, wonderful rooms. I cannot recommend this place enough.
- 5/5
Beautiful home! Our room was very nice and extremely clean. Very comfy bed.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Fantastic
- 5/5
very much enjoyed the ambiance. The house is beautifully furnished and maintained.
- 5/5
We stayed in the Hemingway Suite. Nice stay and loved talking with and getting to know Antonio.
- 5/5
Second time we have stayed here and always enjoy the latest updates to the beautiful home.
- 3/5
The Empress is beautiful & well maintained. This is the 2nd time I've stayed here. Unfortunately we were told this time that breakfast was not included in our stay. If we wanted it. We would be charged $20 each. Our expedia information plainly stated Bed & Breakfast & no upcharge mentioned. After paying $251.50 atleast a bowl of cereal would have been nice.
- 5/5
This place is always worth the splurge and it’s nice to see a little bit of Little Rock history. Thank you, so much!! ❤️
- 5/5
My stay at The Empress was marvelous and had an amazing time. It's truly a beautiful decorated place
- 5/5
Gorgeous house, could have spent a week there exploring the rooms and property! Friendly host, lovely breakfast, very clean and tidy room.
- 5/5
This property is a very nice old mansion and just visiting is like being in a museum. Everything is 100 years old at least and the decoration of the house is magnificent. You have different options to stay, either in the main house or the carriage house. We were in the carriage house and it was really quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was the cherry on top. We will certainly go back
- 5/5
Staying at The Empress pf Little Rock was one of the most enjoyable things I have done in Arkansas. The staff was amazing. The attention to detail to bring you back in time was on point. The Empress is very luxurious and relaxing and is the prefect get away.
- 5/5
Gracious, lovely hosts and a very special property! Very much enjoyed our stay! Thanks Antonio!
- 5/5
Beautiful property. Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
Stayed in the Carriage House, had a wonderful time. Very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time at the Empress! Wonderful room, and very close to downtown and SOMA Little Rock! A gem!
- 5/5
The room was absolutely amazing (Victoria Garden suite). The owners were super friendly and extremely accommodating. Bed and pillows were so soft and I slept great. If you are thinking of staying here, do it; you won't regret it.
- 5/5
The property is just beautiful and the hosts are incredible. Breakfast was delicious.
- 5/5
We always enjoy staying at places with history, character, charm. The Empress did not disappoint! The hosts are wonderful!! Very friendly, informative and accommodating. We could not have stayed at a better place!
- 5/5
This is was 11th stop on a 14 day trip. It was far and away the best. The house is beautiful the owner gracious and welcoming. He told us all about the house and let us look around. He gave us a recommendation for dinner that was phenomenal. I would come back to Little Rock just to stay at the Empress
- 5/5
This place is stunning and the owners are such a joy, Clearly there is a true love and respect for history and preserving the art of old homes.
- 5/5
Antonio made us feel right at home! It is beautiful house with so much history. Keith’s breakfast was as delicious as last time. This is our favorite place to stay in Little Rock!
- 5/5
The room was absolutely gorgeous and super clean! The owners knew a ton about the history of the property and gave a wonderful tour! The breakfast was 10/10 (the lemon bars were particularly delicious)!
- 5/5
Everything was absolutely wonderful.
- 5/5
Beautiful unique place! Wonderful Hosts! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- 5/5
We love this B&B and stay here every year. Beautiful historic home. Beautifully furnished rooms.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved it! Antonio was so wonderful.
- 3/5
Breakfast was simple and tasty. The owners & assistants were nice but seemed inconsistent in service. We were waited on well, however I noticed another guest having to get their own refill of juice or coffee from the bar. Of the places I’ve stayed, this was par for the course. Good for first-timers, to allow for more of an ooh-ahh factor with other B&B’s.
- 5/5
Amazing historic house. Owners gave a great walk through and history of the property. Thank you Antonio & Keith.
- 5/5
This beautiful Historic home was built in the 1880's. It is immaculately clean, beautifully restored, fantastically furnished. Breakfast was great. The friendly owners were on property with great suggestions, helpful advice without ever being in the way. I highly recommend without any reservations.
- 5/5
I love the way keith and Antonio have decorated. We felt as if we were living in 1890s. Even eating the wonderful breakfasts was an experience. Gena. Grand Prairie Tx
- 5/5
This is a wonderful mansion to see and stay in. The host was very friendly and informative.
- 5/5
We have a new favorite place in Little Rock. The Empress is a special place! The accommodations, the service and the history - it was our first bed & breakfast experience and it did not disappoint. Antonio and Keith went above and beyond to make our stay perfect!
- 5/5
Prefect location to walk over to Governor's Mansion for Dinner!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the Empress of Little Rock. The house was a gorgeous time capsule! In addition to our room, we had five immaculate, incredibly decorated rooms to relax, read, have tea, etc. Our hosts provided a very comfortable and friendly environment. Breakfast was on the porch (perfect weather!) and was hearty and delicious. We enjoyed walking in the historical neighborhood and staying in our lovely room, the Miss Eliza room.
- 5/5
This was an awesome stay, the home is beautiful and decorated with period antiques. Everything is stunning. The host is great, thoughtful and knowledgeable about the home and the area. The home is very quiet and the breakfast was fantastic. We ate on the front porch which was very nice. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it highly to everyone.
- 5/5
There is a good reason The Empress of Little Rock is on of the top 10 list of the best B and B's in America. The Empress has captured the Victoria period in every detail. The priceless paintings, furniture and silver are polished to perfection. I truly feel it is even more beautiful than when it was first built in 1888.
- 5/5
Owners were very welcoming. Looking forward to a spring return to this fabulous establishment.
- 5/5
The Empress is a beautiful, very special house. We stayed there for our 50th anniversary to celebrate. Well worth it!
- 5/5
Loved It!
- 5/5
AMAZING B&B. Host 24-7 ready to assist when needed. Great breakfast! Super history. This is the place to stay when you are in Little Rock!
- 5/5
One of the very best!
- 5/5
Hosts met and greeted us upon arrival. Room was ready and immaculate. This property is a step back in time - cloth napkins, knife rests, china, silver, crystal, opulent antiques furnishings - even better than I was expecting - loved it!
- 5/5
What an amazing place!! The pics do no justice. Surprised my wife for her birthday and she was blown away from the time we pulled up til we left. Everything was excellent from room to free gourmet breakfast to the hospitality of Antonio and Keith. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Great accommodations and owner hospitality
- 5/5
I have nothing negative to say about this property. The owners are very attentive and friendly/accommodating. The breakfast was great. The room was well kept and clean. It also had a parking lot so you don't have to park in the street. It is also very close to downtown. I will be back
- 5/5
Beautiful and comfortable accommodations with a friendly and warm staff. Topped with a great breakfast- WOW!
- 5/5
If there was a higher number than 10 the Empress would get it. An amazing opportunity to travel back in time to the late 1800’s with all the modern amenities of today. A Disneyland for adults where interior rooms are furnished in period furniture all in immaculate condition. Enjoy a relaxing time away from the stresses of our world. If your destination is Little Rock or you’re just passing through, consider staying at the Empress of Little Rock.
- 5/5
Beautiful B&B. Great Innkeeper. We stay at this wonderful place every year.
- 5/5
The environment of the property was amazing and very different compared to other hotels. It was so relaxing! Would highly recommend.
- 5/5

- 5/5
This place exceeded our expectations! The breakfast was delicious. The grounds were beautiful. It was perfectly located and the owners were absolutely amazing! Cannot wait to return.
- 4/5
We stayed there in May for my wife's 40th birthday. We stayed for two nights and it was amazing. They don't specialize in breakfast and I realize it's not a Buffet but I have a big appetite in the morning. The hostess was very accommodating and brought extra french toast, fresh fruit and bacon until I was full. They even wrapped up breakfast in a To-Go container the second morning and my wife dropped it off at my work. We stayed the second time for our anniversary on Sept. 25th. Everything was wonderful accept the breakfast. Once again, I realize it's not a buffet but my wife can't eat egg yolks and they didn't offer any other options. I believe the guy who brought out the food (Antonio maybe) didn't seem too accommodating so I didn't want to ask for more breakfast. I ended up going to The Root cafe to get some pancakes to fill me up. We love almost everything about the Empress but the breakfast and service in the morning needs a little work. I spoke to Keith (property owner) on the phone and she's always very kind and helpful.
- 5/5
This was the BEST, BNB, its just stunning, only complaint was we didn't STAY LONGER!! Thank you Antonio and Keith and the lady at breakfast, it is fantastic.
- 5/5
Keith and Antonio were wonderful! A phenomenal stay at a phenomenal home!

- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay at the Empress!
- 5/5
The breakfast was delicious. We had waffles, fresh fruit, orange juice, bacon, and sausage. We will definitely be staying at the Empress again, very soon.
- 5/5
We absolutlely loved our weekend and plan to do it again very soon.
- 5/5
Charming property and great host! Just wish it was located in a better area. Not the best area for walking around.
- 5/5
This is a special place full of wonderful things
- 5/5
This was our first time staying in Little Rock and the Empress did not disappoint. It was very comfortable and came with breakfast. The house and rooms are beautiful. You will love you stay.
- 5/5
What an amazing home! Service and breakfast were fantastic. Bed in the carriage house could use a new mattress.
- 5/5
The owner was very friendly. He immediately met us on our arrival to show us our rooms and gave us tour of the Magnificat Empress of Little Rock. Our rooms were decorated in gorgeous antique furniture and was impeccably clean. Our breakfast was out of this world. I wish we could have stayed more nights than we did. A great experience.
- 5/5
Great historic house in a good location close to restaurants and bars. It’s a step back in time with all the modern conveniences. Breakfast on the wrap around porch is always great and a highlight of the stay. Antonio is always helpful with recommendations too!
- 5/5
Delicious Bkft. Served on large front porch! Close to great restaurants and downtown! Friendly host!
- 5/5
Breakfast, hospitality, antiques, near downtown and historical places such as Little Rock Central High.
- 5/5
We loved everything! The Empress was amazing; the food was divine; the hosts were wonderful!
- 5/5
Very nice historic home close to downtown...The rooms are appointed in period furniture, but with all the modern conveniences you’ll need. Antonio was great and made us feel welcome...homemade breakfast on the porch was a nice touch and tasty!
- 5/5
The Empress is a gorgeous property, dripping with charm and character. The same could be said about the proprietor who prepared us a delightful breakfast for us and filled us in on the local sights. While we stayed in a room in the carriage house, we had the rare opportunity to see all of the rooms in the main house. Really quite beautiful, with each room uniquely styled and furnished - the pictures on Orbitz only you give you a hint of just how beautiful the rooms are. Should I be visiting Little Rock again, I would not hesitate to stay at The Empress. Next time, I'm staying in the main house, but I have to say that our room had both a steam shower and a jacuzzi, so I was plenty pleased with our choice in rooms. While the neighborhood is residential and quiet, a walk of a few blocks brings you to dining and shopping, so we never needed to move our car until we left. Not that parking was a problem. There are several spots on the property and plenty of on-street parking as well.
- 5/5
Antonio and Keith were absolutely wonderful hosts. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Totally cool.
- 5/5
I had an early morning flight and they even prepared a "to go" breakfast for me to take along. Fabulous!
- 5/5
I stayed at the Empress for an annual Thanksgiving celebration and family reunion which was held nearby. My room was elegant, spotless and quiet. The breakfasts were tasty and filling. Antonio was a wonderful host. I recommend the Empress, especially for those who want to experience the luxury of a Victorian era mansion as opposed to a "big box" hotel.
- 5/5
Extremely clean & beautifully preserved home.
- 5/5
Amazing place and experience. Owner is great.
- 5/5
Loved it. Loved. It. Loved it. Loved it a lot. Whole lotta love for the Empress.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay at the Empress of Little Rock. Clean and very well maintained. Bathroom tiles, light fixtures and electronics are 90s, but everything else is Victorian-themed. Loved the garden and fountain outside. Parking is adequate. Breakfast was good but not as good as other 4-diamond B&Bs we have stayed at before.
