I didn't like arriving with people smoking joints in the parking lot in their cars. I appreciate the no smoking policy, however. Would be nice to have a designated area outside, away from view--just wishful thinking.

The staff was very friendly. It is in a great location. This is an older property and has obviously had some updating but still feels older. It was clean and maintained. The parking situation is poor at best. Few parking stalls and is first come, first served. So don’t leave for dinner, you might need to park in neighborhood. I liked the bed, wife said it was to firm. I will stay there again.

Its the cheapest place you can find in the area and dont expect too much. Its old and in some areas it smelled bad. For a night or 2 it is fine but not more than that. There is a very basic breakfast included and it was a nice touch. Check in and out was a breeze.

This place is poorly maintained. A professional has never been hired here to fix anything. Every door jamb, door, light switch is dirty and grimey. There was stuff splattered on the walls and ceilings. Our bathroom door has a square piece panel attached to cover a hole. Our room # plate was missing a digit. Floors were gross, TV stopped working (staff shrugged their shoulders and said maybe it will work tomorrow), ceiling panels in the elevator are being held together with duct tape and it's peeling apart. There's something resting on it that looks like a small dead animal. The light fixture in our room was almost removed, and the base remaining was almost covering the hole in the ceiling. The new light was across the room. The line they cut down the length of the ceiling. Then they just took a paint roller and painted one bright white stripe across the pop corn texture. Our windows were about 10 ft off the ground to a back alleyway, and they donn't lock or even click shut. They just freely slid back and forth. My son stepped into a hole in the floor while going around the bed. The lenolium is broken and sunken in. There is tape over a light switch. The "breakfast" was a few tiny croissants, a pitcher of milk, and some plain white bread. The point is, everything in sight here is handled with a band-aid approach, and it makes me wonder how everything else is handled, like cleaning the sheets, the water and plumbing, or the wiring. This is a last resort.

The price and location was alright. We compromised because of the pictures tied to the room we got weren't half bad. (Btw, NOT the room we got at aaalll) We knew it wasnt going to be upscale. But we didnt expect a slum. For the price, we had our smoke detector go off for a full day, and part of the second day before someone fixed it. The continental breakfast consisted of toast, bad coffee, and corn flakes and a mouse running around on the floor. When I mentioned seeing a mouse to the person at the desk (I believe the manager or owner) he ignored me completely and acted as if I didnt mention it at all. And the toilet clogged after every use. Very dirty place. Very dirty. The cleaning ladies were nice but I have never experienced anything as gross as that....

The property is in very poor condition with lots of deferred maintenance. The website photographs presernt a false impression. Worse, the hotel is patronized by guests who arer up all night, shouting, banging doors, and running up and down the hallways, so much so, it was impossible to sleep. On top of that, all night long, there was lots of noise coming from the gas station/convenience store adjacent to the inn on the north. I will never stay at the Vagabond Inn on Alamitos Avenue in Long Beach again.

Parking was a nightmare. Got blocked in over three times after only staying two nights. Rooms were disgusting and poorly maintained. Towels were dirty. Windows, mirrors, counters, floors obviously not cleaned for awhile. Overall gross. Kinda separate but was awake till 3 am well somebody was playing with there toddler running up and down the halls. Walls are so thin you can hear just about everything and seems like it’s a constant influx of unfriendly people not even staying at the hotel taking up the parking spaces/ hanging out in the parking lot. Overall if you’re here to get a room to party 100% would get a room here. If you have a family or a girlfriend and saw the cheaper prices like me I would avoid at all costs. Staff was very friendly though!

Throughout the night, I was woken up multiple times between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The walls are incredibly thin, honestly thinner than 2-ply toilet paper, and you can hear everything happening in the hallway. The environment felt chaotic and uncomfortable. At one point, children were running through the halls and screaming late into the night until someone finally yelled around 3:00 AM for them to stop. Around 4:00 AM, I was startled awake by someone aggressively banging on a door, repeatedly yelling, “Give me my phone back” for several minutes. The banging became louder and more intense, and it genuinely felt concerning. The type of people and behavior encountered here says a lot about the place. On top of that, the room quality was poor, and the stairwells smelled strongly like urine. Overall, this was a disgusting experience, and I would not recommend staying here.

My husband and I stayed here on April 2026. They do provide free parking, which is an absolute plus for California, where you have to pay parking for just about any place you visit. We checked in around 7pm and the gentlemen gave us the key for our room; we went to the room only to find out it was already occupied, as soon as we walked in my husband noticed some luggage and stuff on the bed, luckily for us there was no body in the room at that time. (That has never happened to us before, and we travel plenty. It was very scary experience for us just to think if there was somebody in the room). Left the room and went back to the reception and he gave us another room. This room looked nothing like the online pictures, it looked like the utility room with a bed, tv and a bathroom. True! it was the cheapest we found close to the beach @ $89.00 dollars/ night, but it was not what they advertised. Next day we talked to the morning attendant, and he did move us a better room. Our second night, the new room was connected to another room, and we could hear people with loud tv, music and like they were having a fun time. We were sleeping on and off all night long. Ended up falling in deep sleep around 6am. After they left. I don't think we will ever be back to this place.

In the last few Month's i have rented rooms here quite a bit. The Hotel is okay but one Front Desk Clerk lately has been quite rude and unprofessional in that all of a sudden with my past two rentals he started demanding a $100.00 deposit that was never asked for the several times before i rented a room and he demands it in a most unfriendly and hostile way which for a business that is suppose to be Hospitable he make's you feel anything but welcome. The only reason i pick this Hotel is because of the affordable price on the average rooms but i have started to look at other options because this employee who claims he is a Manager has really started to offend me in many way's so i cannot recommend staying here to anyone due to his terrible and unfriendly personality which is very disturbing.

"I stayed here for two days and it was a terrible experience from start to finish. To begin with, the toilet in our room was clogged, and there was zero effort from staff to fix the situation. There is no room service and essentially the withholding breakfast that was bread and the worst tasting coffee. The management is the biggest issue. The manager was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. He spent time watching us from our car and micromanaging our arrival. When it came time to check out, he tried everything possible to withhold my deposit, even after his own staff confirmed the room was in perfect condition. It felt like he was intentionally antagonizing us. Between the poor service and the suspicious activity in the surrounding area, I would strongly advise staying elsewhere. They do not treat their guests with respect."

Over the year's i have stayed here occasionally but in the last 3 month's i have stayed more times then ever but the last visit was disturbing. For the first time ever an older male desk attendant wanted a $100.00 deposit for the room (on top of the Expedia Fee for the room of $115.81 already on a pay hold) which was never wanted or collected before? But when a couple of day's later the Deposit was not returned and i went back to the Hotel to ask him about why it wasn't? He then got all defensive and would not return the deposit because it had been returned already which i had proof was not true and was never returned but was indeed charged as a credit not a deposit. So with this last quite disturbing behavior by this man i am not sure if i will chance staying there again? Why bother. 👎 A A L

The cleanliness and safety of the area (including parking area, elevators and surrounding area) did not justify the price we paid for the room. For the price you would expect, at the least, clean sheets, a well lit parking lot with sufficient parking, and a somewhat updated bathroom/shower. We had to circle the block several times and wait for a parking to open up; can not park on streets because of permit laws in LB. Our bedding had stains, ciggerette burns and holes. The shower was very outdated, walls and toilet did not look clean, mold in shower, drywall crumbling, water pressure was very low and the vent fan did not work. The whole room was dusty and the table and dresser tops had a slight sticky film on them. There was noise all night in the hallways.

The room was patched and painted in a very amateurish way. The floor was lumpy, the windows were low quailty, loose in the frames and had zero effect on keeping out noise from the busy street just inches from our room. Parking is extremely limited. Unfortunately, when I got ready to check out, I called the front desk to ask if they could bring the rolling cart to assist me with getting my bags to the car, on the phone their response was “we don’t have room service.” I told him I didn’t expect room service. I was simply asking for help. So, I ended up getting help with my bags being taken to my car by housekeeping staff. It’s too bad they had to have an attitude about “helping” one of their guests with bags when checking out. I also asked about the free, local shuttle, and they did say that they had one, but they had no information about it or how to direct me on a Sunday to get more information about it. That info would have been helpful if made available when checking in.

My husband didnt look at reviews we should have, he just saw the 160 and it was better than the 200 and 300 feom anywhere else we saw. So, The outside looked bad, but sometimes it can be good inside so we proceeded, the elevador was small and scary, the hallway reminded us of one of those horror hotel games also saw a roach in the hallway, when we got to our room it was not as pictured. There was a Hole in the corner with some kind of animal hair stuck to it. Could be rats. Noticed roach poop on the windowsill. The sheets had red stains on it, my daughter said it looked like blood. The bathroom was gross. The walls were stuckko up, and there were holes in the floor and the outlits wernt properly covered. There was a dead roach waiting for us inside the doo. I took some pictures for proof, but wanted to hurry and get my family out ASAP so we left right away. The website is false advertising its not even the same building and rooms pictured. I saw another family as we were leaving, the mom said she also saw roaches and was worried but they were not able to turn around and leave they had no where else to go. It lookes like they let the homeless live there, its disgusting. They should be shut down. There are no words. The run down plus the clealiness its scary. Its not even worth a penny to stay there. I get it if its in the middle of no where but this is a tourist place, where families stay. This is NOT SAFE. This is unacceptable. They need to be shut down.

The whole thing was just nasty. We got into our first apartment and the whole thing smelt of smoke and just felt musky which is funny because the one rule they have is to not smoke in the rooms. They moved us into a third floor room which we thought would be an upgrade but we were shocked to find the opposite. The bed was rock hard and the bed cover had a huge stain that looked like a piss stain. The blanket inside the cover had many cigarette burns and the sheets were coarse and rough. The tv was about 20 years old and the room lacked the common things found in normal rooms like a fridge, microwave, and even a safe. It was the bare minimum of everything and the shower was tough to figure out since they switched the cold and hot tubes so hot was cold and cold was hot. They were given directions, asked specifically to let my girlfriend into the room with identification. Nobody relayed the message, my girlfriend had to sit outside all night and part of the day. When we confronted them about the issue and details left behind, they just avoided the conversation and said don’t come back.

Our reservation was booked via Expedia. However, the hotel charged on my credit card as well. You need to keep your eye on credit card invoice if you stay this hotel

Hotel is outdated and dirty. you can hear everyone when they come to your floor. Elevate is really small. Staff barely speaks English and lobby smells bad.if your looking for cheap? you get what you pay for.

I shouldn’t complain too much cuz it was only 10 minute walk to dntwn area where the Indy Grand Prix was @. For $200 ave/night it seemed like a lot for place was just there. Dings & wall patches(lots)in walls, different grout colors in same area, a cigarette burn in bedspread, thin(but clean) small towels, loud creaking squeaking doors & bed springs, the thinnest walls I’ve ever seen(those last 2 make for an interesting combo lol), & not a single picture or decoration in room. But the owner was nice, the sheets & towels were clean & smelled fine, the Wi-Fi worked great, & we had a close place to stay when booking only a week before event…so given the same conditions I would do it again. I would not if not pressed for time & the need to be close to dntwn. I’m also guessing the price wud be more reflective of the property if there wasn’t a 150k person event eating up the rooms in the area(supply & demand … remember Econ 101? - fair is fair.) Also strange or @ least new to me was the request for a $100cash damage deposit to be returned after inspection @ checkout. He ran my visa at checkin. The inspection was fast w/ a phn call to housecleaning, but now I will need to follow it up to make sure I receive the credit back to my card. I asked if I get a credit for cleaning a quarter size spot on the bedspread (by soaking w/h2o which erased it completely); but he didn’t think it was as funny as I did. I think the owner means well, it’s just tough to run a self owned biz these days.

not very clean, not modern, needs heavy update, dirty, manager or owner has his hand out all the time, had to pay 60 extra to check in early, 2 hrs and be able to park my car, then day of check out at 11 could not leave the car there until 3pm unless 20 pay him to leave it. pictures not of some of the property, shows you nice pictures but you get there and its not so nice. I would stay away.

We stay here for a big event...Long Beach Grand Prix, so the price is within our budget. The owner of the hotel is nice, but does a lot of steps to check us in....guessing "old-fashioned". Will stay here again due to the excellent price.

It says that the breakfast is continential. But still too simple. The is NO swimming pool. The parking lot picture should be updated. The price is OK in the area. The sound between the room was not good.

I had reserved an ADA accessible room but they did not furnish one nor did Travelocity do anything at all to fix the mistake. The property manager didn’t not care at all to address my concerns at all. The room was filthy and the tub had to railing or safety mat at all. It was dangerous. Very displeased with this property and how we were treated.

Just a place to stay. No microwave no refrigerator. Heat and AC worked well. Its in an old building so the decore is not very modern. Beds were comfortable but the pillows were too soft, felt like we didn't have a pillow.

Don't count on breakfast. there is so much noise you cant sleep. we turned on the air for white noise. although the condition of the walls, sink, etc was bad they were at least clean. altogether it was ok.

The hotel was okay if you just looking for a cheap place to stay. There was definitely a couple complaints I have but it was a relaxing stay. The other guest were quiet. It was windy and the windows were sorta loose so it sounded like someone was banging on the window all night. The toilet was oddly close to the bathroom counter so much so that it made it hard to do your. The “ breakfast” consisted of some stale mini cinnamon rolls, plain cereal, toast, and some water down juice. But like I said it’s a cheap hotel we weren’t expecting much. It was a nice stay other than the things I mentioned. Staff was nice and when we needed housekeeping they came in the matter of minutes. We would stay here again but remember when booking that your get what you pay for.

Only thing was there was no fridge or microwave in the room, although I had requested it during my booking,(I needed it to store my insulin). When I got there they wanted to charge $10 extra for it. Overall it was a nice hotel.
