Great Stay.

Unexpectedly nice in a perfect location!

Need improvement

The location was convenient. The price was higher than I’m used to paying at Holiday Inn Express. The air conditioning was very loud and woke me when it turned on.

Room was clean and comfortable, pool was clean and fun, about a 5 minute drive to the beach. The breakfast was great and accommodating. Would stay again!

Chose for the price and location and was not disappointed. Close to lots of things, pool and jacuzzi are on the small side but fine for a dip. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, standard and good value.

Breakfast had a good selection ,super clean ,beds are confortable and towels are super clean white ,the only thing I suggest inthe restroom is it would be nice to have a magnifyer mirror for people cant see close up ,the hotel is just few steps away from the free trolly stop ,and theres restaurants very close walking distances

First I was appreciative the guys were helping us with the room for cleaning up after the long day tour we spent at the beach. We expect the room is ready but unfortunately the housekeeper might be forget to clean up my room. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights but never got the new sheets. I don’t know how is the policy going but at least 4 days you should change the new sheets for guest. Breakfast was great and delicious.

Disappointing

While the location for the hotel had great proximity to the beach and the Balboa area and the breakfast staff were so sweet, the upkeep and cleanliness of the hotel were not what I was hoping for. There were stains on the curtains, the floor mat in the bath, the shower curtain, and the window curtains. And there was debris on the room floor from the last guests. And then worst of all we had ANTS in our room. They were sporadic, but, then on the final morning we had thrown a leftover pizza box in the trash and when we woke up there was a whole ant village in there. I notified the front desk about the ants and they noted it, but, we didn’t have an “I apologize” or anything. We also had an outdated TV that didn’t have a TV guide to see what was showing. Additionally, we were excited on the website that there was a pool and hot tub, but, it’s a small area right by the parking lot with a small fence between the cars and pool area, so we didn’t use it.

This is a typical HIE, which means we go in with the expectations that we’ll have a near-perfect nights sleep in a comfortable and clean environment with a decent breakfast the next morning. As usual with HIE, our expectations were met. The only ding is paying for parking on top of the normal stay fees, but that’s the Californian way regardless of where you stay and at what hotel—not HIE’s fault, but it would be nice to see one, final price versus learning that upon arrival.

The room was clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful. One of our kids got sick and they let us do a late check out at 1 pm instead of noon which helped us out. Thank you for a wonderful experience, we will definitely be back.

Everything about our stay was perfect. From the receptionist asking if we prefer a room on a lower floor or a room on a higher floor (most places don't give you an option) and housekeeping doing a fantastic job, to having a great breakfast the next morning. Will stay here again when I'm in Newport Beach.

The room was clean enough, but there was no drinking water provided. Instead, the hotel charges $8 for a small Smartwater. Shower water was not hot and took 10 minutes to get warm enough to handle. The pool is tiny and boxed into a cramped, shady area overlooking the parking lot, so not exactly a selling point. The location is decent enough, with a few good coffee and pastry spots nearby, and about a 30-minute walk to the beach. All in all, this hotel lands at a solid C- while charging B+ prices. If you’re looking for a comfortable bed at $300 a night, this is your place—because the bed is about all they have going for them. Pretty disappointed. I won’t be returning.

Not the best Holiday Inn Express location I’ve been too, but it wasn’t bad. One downfall was that the hallway upstairs reeked of smoke but the customer service was great, so the overall experience was good.

There is nothing inherently special about this motel. It’s the basics that they nail that make it a wonderful stay. It’s clean, quiet, has a nice basic breakfast and a wonderful helpful staff. Getting the basic right is the first best thing you can do. Props!

This experience was very good the wife and I were very pleased with your hotel and the area!

It’s the first time I’ve entered my room in any hotel where my bed had not been remade. I always make a point of leaving a room tidy when I leave ready for the maids. The maids when leaving the room were always smiling and welcoming.

Deceptive from the outside. Very nice carpeting, nice rooms with heavy doors, quiet. The rooms were very nice and very clean and the beds and pillows were fantastic!! Very nice people at the front desk, the young lady who took care of breakfast, and all the maids that you passed by in the hallways. A big thumbs up for a great day at a great price! Thank you!

Great location to restaurants, walking distance to Lido Isle. Lots of parking, wifi worked well, beds comfortable & would stay here again. Pool area small but was great for our needs & was quiet in early March. Free breakfast pretty good!

Basic, but clean, comfortable and in a good location. Breakfast was better than expected. Room was clean, and it was helpful to have the shower and sink separate from the toilet when sharing a room with four people. Pool is super tiny! And I thought it was pretty lame to charge for parking.

Staff was great! The negative was that none of us slept well. There was loud knocking that occurred all night. We turned off the AC/Heat and fan in our room because that’s where the noise was from. But the noise kept going. Maybe it was coming from the utility closet next to our room?

The room was clean and smart. The comfortable bed made for a good nights sleep. The shower was stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash in mounted push to dispense containers making the experience memorable. The refrigerator compressor eminated a little bit of sound but I muffled to quiet with a pillow. The buffet breakfast has a view of Pacific Coast Hwy.

The room was clean and everything worked well. Staff was accommodating, though computers were down and water was off when we first arrived. It was fixed pretty quickly. We did have to wait to get into our room, but still were able to get in before our actual check in time.

Fantastic experience

The continental breakfast was outstanding. Clean, supervised, and uncrowded. The mistakes are the electronic door at the rear doors were not funcioning properly and had to be left unlocked by most visitors. The electric recipticle on the desk lamp was broken. The design of the room was awkward the bathroom door blocked the hallway and the width of the entry was forboding, and narrow.

I didnt like the fact that we had to pay 22 dollars per night for parking. I thought the parking would be for free since I booked a room there. Even though everything else was great, I will most likely not go back because I would have to pay for the expensive ass parking.

Room was clean. I enjoyed the stay. Everything was within walking distance. Stayed with my wife and 2 sons.

Our staff said our room was ready however it was not. Bed not made and empty glass on counter. So returned to staff member where he apologized and said the room would be ready in an hour. Waiting for longer we went up to the same room as he said it was ready only to find the room had not been touched. Again an apology and issued another room. This room was located next to the laundry room with sounds of washing machines all night. Very dissatisfied with our selection.

Hotel was quiet

The room was not well maintained by housekeeping and the door lock was broken. The key card would connect and turn the lock light green, but the door wouldn’t open.

My room smelled bad. I had to turn on the AC wall unit and put it on low to make the smell tolerable. Because of it, I was cold too. The staff were super nice. The breakfast was descent. Overall was okay.

Staff was awesome. I was greeted by 3 people when I walked in. The room had some small flaws, but the bathroom smelled clean so I was ok. The place has a small gym, pool n jacuzzi and a nice breakfast. We were there for the Cal Triathlon race and it was a great location to the dunes. The restaurant next door Sol, was yums too! I recommend a stay there…we will be back!

The front elevator was broken which made it difficult to get our massive suitcases upstairs, and there’s too much furniture in the room( suitcase storage was not great) otherwise it was awesome- beds were so so comfy!

Overall mostly clean, but my shower walls did have some long hairs stuck to them when I arrived in my room. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

We enjoyed a quiet one night stay at this hotel. Minutes away from Huntington Beach airshow. Very conveniently located near the beach. Staff was great. Buffet breakfast was decent, could be better.

Staff greeted us with friendly smiles and were very kind. Once inside the room, it was very clean and we had a nice view. Didn’t get to use the pool because it was storming, but it looked great, perfect size and clean. The breakfast ~ so many varieties to choose from, everything was stocked well and delicious. Especially the pancake machine!! Again, the food area and seating was immaculate. We will visit her again.

I asked for an ADA room. When we arrived, I was told the elevator was broken, so they needed to give us another room near a working room. No king bed, only queens. The beds were so high i couldn't get in. Im short and have had 3 major surgeries. My husband scooted a bench over, which was also high. I climbed onto that and painfully scooted onto the bed. That is the last time I'll stay there. I was in pain the entire next day. It nearly ruined our family celebration.

The property was just okay. The property wasn’t what I expected for the area. The hotel is just a little rundown and dated it definitely needs some upgrades. Woke up to a couple of ants crawling on me in my bed but not really a whole lot you can do about that. That’s just an upkeep issue. The staff was wonderful but probably not somewhere. I would stay again.

They double booked my room. I was lying in bed, and another guest opened the door.

The toilet in room 127 was too low. You crash down on it & then it is hard to get up from it.

There was no hot water in my room for the entire trip. This hotel is in a decent location in an upscale town. There is no excuse not to have enough hot water for the whole hotel.

Breakfast was good, parking was too hard to find for the $20 paid and we found the last spot available. For the price it worked.

Room was a real disappointment. Large stain on chair, filthy carpet, rusty screws everywhere, wallpaper peeled back, bathroom ceramic floor tile grout filthy and ceiling vent hanging from 1 drywall screw. The cast iron tub has rust on the outside. Some of the valance curtains were super wrinkled. The maintenance of the unit was bad enough that I took pictures to forward to Corporate. The cost is being charged because of the location, still could have been clean even though it is small and outdated. I will give props for the included breakfast.

Usually stay at higher end hotels. Couldn’t find availability. But wow, from staff to food to sound proof rooms, we will definitely be returning. Glad it worked out the way it did.

It was a pleasant but short stay. The staff that we encountered was friendly and helpful. The air conditioner worked great. It’s in a good location. The property is secure. The breakfast wasn’t great but it’s a hotel so it wasn’t expected to be. The parking is tight. If you have a big truck or SUV it’s tricky to find a spot that you will fit into and park in a way that you will be able to get out of it too without blocking someone else in

Con: The room looks clean though quite old. But what really disappointed me was the very musty smell of the room. The bathroom smells better than the bedroom. I asked the cleaning lady outside to please spray with air freshener which she promptly complied with. Since I’m just staying for the night I didn’t want to bother asking to move to a different room.

The property and the staff were amazing. It was convenient to everywhere we wanted to go. We came to whale watch and it was less than nine minutes away. On top of that, the staff was amazing. Absolutely amazing.

The property is in a good location with a few restaurants and Starbucks nearby. It’s accessible to the freeways and beaches.

Our room was huge and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although we overlooked a main road the room was very quiet. The free breakfast each morning was great with a lot of different options. We used the pool and the gym and both were clean and well maintained. The on-site guest laundry room was a great bonus for us on our travels. We were able to walk to Balboa Island but there is a free trolley at the weekend if you need it and you get it from the back of the carpark around the first corner from the hotel. We also walked to Fashion island but be warned ..... it's a loooong walk! You can get a bus across the road from the hotel which will get you there much quicker! If you want a pretty boutique style hotel this isn't for you but if you want a hotel that provides great value for money, has all of the facilities you need, is well located and provides a warm welcome then this HIE is for you. If we were in Newport Beach again we'd be more than happy to stay here again.

Great budget option. Staff was exceptional, very friendly and approachable, The hotel is older and not plush or fancy but it was clean. Our room was one of the few with a partial view of the harbor. The view was nice but the lighting from the front of the building wasn’t blocked well by the drapes. The window was older and traffic noise was very noticeable. The bed was comfortable. We didn’t hear anyone in the rooms near us. There’s a pool and hot tub but they are tiny (1 person fits in the hot tub and the pool is about 6ft by 12ft) so don’t book if you’re wanting pool time. It was clean and in good shape, just minimal. Overall good place to stay with a fantastic location close to the boat harbor and the beaches and even easily driveable to Anaheim. Happy with our stay.
