Hyatt Regency Newport Beach West

The check-in process was not very smooth or welcoming. The woman at the front desk was not clear about whether I had actually been checked in or simply added to an early check-in list. When I returned later, the gentleman at the desk seemed surprised that no one had walked me through the usual arrival information. The pool area was also disappointing. It was completely out of towels, and the towels that were available were extremely thin. There was also an incident where a child had vomited in the pool, and it had not been addressed until I went to notify the front desk. On top of that, being charged extra for things like parking or a cabana feels excessive when you are already paying the room rate. Those additional costs made the experience feel less hospitable and more transactional. All in all, the stay was okay, but it did not feel especially welcoming, polished, or memorable.

Breakfast was really good, room was good and spacious, value was good. I didn't like the location that much as it is said to be Newport Beach West, which it is but it is a bit misleading as it takes still 20+ minutes drive to get to newport beach itself.

The staff was great! The on site mgr Vladimir was very helpful and asked all the right questions. Room 623 shower and sink doesn’t work properly. It takes about 15 minutes to get hot. Maintenance came by on Saturday am and said they had to check something on the roof. (Didn’t work) Saturday it never got more than lukewarm. Disappointed because we stayed there before with no complaints

I enjoyed the close proximity to my event, the hotel cleanliness, good food and great customer service. The bed was very comfortable.

1 - That I had to pay for parking , this should be offered at no cost to guests. 2 - Janitor came to clean room and we were still getting ready to leave, I asked her to come back in 30 minutes, but she didn’t so room remained uncleared till next day.

I accidentally booked here way in advance of the Newport Beach Jazz Festival. I didn't realize there was a "West" Hyatt Regency. It all worked out for the best because the hotel was quiet and there were some guests, like me, going to the festival. I met this nice couple in the parking lot. We sat with each other on the lawn to hear the music both days. The breakfast buffet was good although the lobby restaurant could have used a few more servers. I did not like the price for room service. I ordered a tuna melt sandwich with a side of fries. The listed price was $24. I figured there would be tax added. I was planning to tip whoever brought it. When my food was delivered, the employee, who I recognized from the restaurant showed me the bill and asked for me to sign. I wanted to pay cash and had $40 ready. I knew I would get change after paying the bill and tipping. The bill she presented was for $34.49!! I asked "how"? There was a $3.00 service fee, a 20% food delivery fee and the tax. At that point, after seeing 20% was charged I was not going to give an additional 20% tip. I gave her the $40 cash and asked her to bring me the change. She took a very long time to bring me my change. I actually called to see where it was after much waiting. I think she thought I would just let it go and forget about it so she could keep the $5.50 change I was owed. Make sure you are aware of this before ordering room service. They don't tell you that up front.

Everything was clean and serviced each day. Leondro was an excellent shuttle driver.

Most of the staff were kind and friendly. One staff person at the front desk had a haughty manner. Hot tub was nice 2 out of 3 days. On the third it was a warm tub.

Maria at the front desk had exceptional customer service. Our room was nice and clean big shower. Nice balcony would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast was good, didn't seem like the usual reheated breakfast meals that most hotels have. Pool was amazing, stays heated at 80 degrees. We booked hotel on accident, but turned it to be a nice little trip. Only down side is they charge for parking, not sure why, you would think it's included since nightly rate is not that cheap. Hotel staff was nice, although for some reason some of the female workers seem snappy. Over all nice/clean hotel.

The safety box was broke ,can’t reset the password ,the generator can’t understand what we want instead of tea, she gave us the coffee.The ice machine didn’t work at all.The generator didn’t do a good job for cleaning ,when we give $10 tips for cleaning and when we came back the sink still had some hair in there ,look like she didn’t do anything except the bed

This reservation is the WRONG hotel. I’m at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, NOT Newport West. Please refund my charges as this was not my fault.. the agent wasn’t listening well and I also have never flown into OC and wasn’t aware there were three Hyatt Regency Hotels near here.

Front desk staff (Vlad) was very friendly, went above and beyond. Hotel is spotless and pool area was beautiful. Hotel is in a quiet and safe area.

Vladimir assisted us upon arrival and was incredibly helpful! He answered all of our questions and provided excellent service, explaining everything the hotel has to offer. 10/10! Our room was very clean with no issues at all, and room service was also a 10/10. Overall, a great place to stay, highly recommend!

Great check in and housekeeping

You can hear the airplanes take off when in the room, the shower was hard to figure out how to turn it off, the only drinking glass if you want to call it that were paper cups, and when ask for a print out of my invoice the only things listed on it was the food and parking. I was told a receipt for the room would be email to me which wasn't when I checked at 10:45 pm, which I need to get reimburse by my company. And when I call to ask about it no one answered.

We had a great stay at this hotel. The air conditioning was cold and the room was so quiet - one of the best nights of rest I’ve had a hotel. My kids (4 and 6) loved the pool and hot tub. Watching the planes fly over us was entertaining and fun for them too. Benihana’s is right next door and we enjoyed walking to and from dinner. It was perfect for our quick trip to the OC and we will be back!

My hotel stay was really great, I loved the resort style pool. Staff was very friendly. I wish the bell hop would offer to help with bags but i understand this isn’t the Ritz. I wish I got the name of the young black guy at the front desk, I loved his amazing energy. I took off 1 star because i came home with so many bites. I guess something was biting me while I was there which is unfortunate.

Good location, close to everything. Right across from airport which my son loved. Nice, good-sized, good temperature pool. Clean beds but some hairs on bathroom floor and in shower (which I despise but my husband and son aren’t bothered lol). Downside: $30 parking fee/night.

Unfortunately I never got the check in. Pawn arrival 5 minutes before check in I was told to have a seat the computers are down. When I asked how long they've been down they said 1 hour and when I asked if they had any time frame for when they're going to be back up I was told quickly "I have no idea" I couldn't get the Wi-Fi until I checked in and I had business to do so I was forced to grab an Uber to an alternate hotel to check in to finish my work. When I requested a refund from Hyatt through hotels.com it went back and forth and they're sticking with their no refund policy. Pretty classy Hyatt. Not only will I recommend to my company that we no longer stay at this hotel or any other Hyatt I will also let my $350,000 followers know as well. Just a shoddy experience all around. Keep your $200 thank goodness there's plenty of other Hotel options around

Very close to airport . It was very clean and nice.

It is not the Hyatt brand that we are accustom to. The room did not provide glasses or even plastic cups. When asked we were told it was a safety issue with having glasses in guest rooms. The pool area was small for the size of the hotel and it was dirty and a mess. No pool towels, only small towels from the fitness center.

There was a loud clanking in the HVAC system.

There aren't many of restaurant choices around the hotel.

This is a 60s hotel with a bit of lipstick slapped on it. The carpets even though replaced are in terrible shape. The lobby was cordoned off with caution tape while they sprayed the carpet with some liquid and the carpet still looked stained and dirty afterward the room keys were difficult to operate. The dining options were very limited and the hotel is not well regulated in temperature.

We called for an extra pillow at 10pm and a pillow was not brought, so we called again at 10:50pm then again at 11pm. Finally a security guard came to our room with the pillow we requested over an hour after we asked for it. Also, the next morning the cleaning service woke us up at 8:00am to clean the room. When we told the front desk manager about all of this he didn’t seem concerned. About an hour later I had a notification on my LinkedIn account that someone had viewed my profile- it was the front desk manager! Why is he looking up customers?! Very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I’m a Hyatt member and have never had an issue before this location.

Good customer service, but needs urgent renovations. Sofas at the lobby are really dirty with many visible stains. Our bath had urine drops on the lid when we arrived. Bed sheets had a hole. Pool canopies had no cushions. The mini garden needs more decoratiom and plants. The breakfast was too basic for the price. Good that they offered shower caps in the bathroom, but not body lotion. Other hotels in the area offer a bit more for the same price.

My room was not cleaned

Newly renovated property. My only complaint was the thermostat in room didn’t work. I called multiple times and was not able to resolve issue. I gave up since we were only staying for two night and it wasn’t terrible. Front desk did offer to switch us to a different room but decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of having to move all our stuff to another room. Overall, nice property.

I did not like that the bathroom door did not completely close. The door was on a slider and when closed there was an approximate one inch gap between the door and the door jamb.

First they put us in a low floor room when I specifically asked for a high floor. Then we were by all the machinery so you can hear all the noise. I asked to be moved and they did the next day but same side with the machinery. Not good being it was our anniversary.

My wife and I used to stay here when on vacation but found a few better places closer to where we like to spend our time. Ended up staying here because of good price on a busy weekend when all other hotels double their prices. Was very impressed with the new look and the updated rooms. However, the property itself could use some improvements. The condition and facilities felt a bit outdated, and cleanliness was not at the level I expected from a Hyatt Regency. Some areas of the room and common spaces didn’t feel as fresh or well-maintained as they should.

Wife and I woke up with bed bug bites all over our legs. Same bug bite complaints on other big name review sites by other customers too. Very very disgusting. Unless you get a pool view room, you’ll be hearing airplanes pretty loud from morning to night that’s why this hotel is cheaper compared to others. Don’t bother trying to check in before 3, they won’t let you check in early. They’ll keep telling you “there’s no rooms available” instead of being upfront and honest about checking in only at 3. I was told there’s no clean rooms yet at 2:52pm and magically at 3pm rooms were available. One little cafe in the hotel, nothing near by to eat.

My hubby and I had such a great stay at this hotel! The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It was the perfect little getaway for us to relax and enjoy some quality time together. Would definitely recommend.

Rooms are tiny. Bathroom has a sliding door that's hard to close all the way. There was electrical wire sticking out of our bathroom mirror room 515. There was deep scratches all over bathroom door and the maids kept trying to come in our room and clean even thought we put do not disturb on and kept waking us up. Also two waters were 18$ from the snack shop. Ridiculous. Not the worst hotel but definitely won't stay again

$30 a day for parking, no complimentary breakfast, even the water bottles in the room cost money unless you’re an elite member. We paid good money to stay there and they can’t offer free water bottles? It’s not even a good brand of water. But I will say the staff is great, and they are the highlight of the hotel.

Clean, contemporary yet elegant. Had room with 2 queens. Rooms were a bit small for a small family with a 2 y/o but we were able to make it work. One thing is the ice from the ice machine on the 3rd floor seems like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Ice made my water taste funky (tossed it out after the first sip). Also, no liners provided for trash cans. Couldn't find anyone immediately to provide one so we just used other shopping bags we brought with us. We were only staying two nights and weren't hanging out in the hotel so not a big deal.

The room was not large but was stylishly appointed with ample storage and thoughtful touches like full-length mirrors and make-up mirror in the restroom. Key items that made for a great night sleep: the room temperature remained consistent, and the bed was very comfortable. The gym was very good, all equipment in working order and sufficient to provide a good travel workout. The hotel was ~1 mile from SNA so great choice if looking for a location near the airport. Would definitely re-book.

We went for the weekend to explore the town. The hotel is amazing and the heated pool is wonderful.

I was happy to see electric vehicle chargers on the property however most weren’t working. The bed was a bit uncomfortable unfortunately. Most of the staff was helpful but not all. Breakfast at the restaurant located inside the property was good.
