I am requesting assistance regarding my current hotel reservation at the Residence Inn by Marriott Rockford on Colosseum Drive. Upon arrival, the door to my assigned room was partially open, which raised immediate security concerns. After reporting this to the front desk, I discovered additional issues within the suite that have impacted my stay. These include cracked kitchen flooring, a sink that drains into the dishwasher causing flooding when water is used, and unstable dining furniture. I reported these concerns to hotel management and was advised that, because the reservation was booked through Expedia, any request for compensation or refund would need to be handled through Expedia directly. I am attaching photo documentation of the issues for reference. I am currently in town for work and continuing my stay due to scheduling obligations. However, given the condition of the room and the disruption caused, I am requesting a partial refund or credit for the affected nights. Thank you for your assistance and for reviewing this matter. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, Kendrick Farris Hotel: Residence Inn by Marriott Rockford Check-in Date:January 7th

There is a strip club next to the hotel, and my husband went to dump some garbage that we had in a dumpster outside and he told me that there was a man getting oral pleasure from a woman by the dumpster! Thank goodness he did not bring our grandson out there with him. With regard to the hotel itself, the suites are separate from the building with the pool so if it’s cold outside, you have to bundle up to go to the pool. But the pool is quite cold and so is the room that the pool is in so it’s hardly worth it. The pool itself is small so if you’re bringing several children, it’s not worth it. The quality of the furniture inside of the suite was old and worn, particularly the dining room table, which looked like it had had been used, possibly for prostitution. The legs were ready to give out, and the table itself was very worn. They were not enough pots and pans of reasonable sizes in the kitchen itself and we had to go out and get a lot of our own kitchenware like a decent spatula and some steak knives. The one good thing in the room was a fireplace. It’s a wood fireplace. The rooms themselves are very clean, but as I said, it’s right next to a strip club, there are sketchy people outside in the parking lot at night, and I’m sure that they bring it inside the hotel from time to time. Will probably encourage my family in Rockford to come closer to the western suburbs of Chicago next time.

Rooms were dated but clean overall. Family friendly. Ice maker outside room but hotel doesn’t provide buckets. Told us to use ice maker in room freezer but sign said it takes 72 hrs to produce ice and our stay was only 2 nights.

Today I noticed a $5.00 charge from the hotel on my credit card. When I called the hotel to ask about it I was told that there is a $5.00 parking fee! Be forewarned.

- 4/5
Room was nice and big. I did book a handicap accessible room but it wasn't.
- 4/5
The hotel staff was amazing: friendly, helpful and good at their job. The hotel room itself, however, was rundown and tired looking. The coverlet on the bed was frayed; the bathroom cabinet was chipped and sorry looking; one dresser drawer would shut all the way and the carpet had a nasty looking mystery stain in front of the closet. Not what I expected from a Residence Inn.
- 3/5
BUT, the mattress was horrible! I had nerve pain every day. I'd like to suggest [other than new mattresses] is 1) the lighting is very dim. Needs a couple of brighter lights. And 2) Needs a full length mirror. plus side, they have GREAT cookies every day! :)
- 5/5
Very clean & comfortable beds. Friendly and cheerful staff throughout. Very reasonable rates considering the facilities.

Just old, not updated. Very friendly people and staff provided excellent service.

Loved the room…we had a suite with two bedrooms with king beds.
- 5/5
Clean, nice breakfast - they had a hot breakfast sandwich for you to grab and take before the regular breakfast was served. Comfortable beds.

Love the king room. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need. The breakfast is very nice. Great place to stay and not feel like you are in a hotel. It’s like your own little apartment. Highly recommend.
- 1.5/5
Lack of cleanliness. Outdated ..stinky stairwell..
- 2/5
This place needs a refresh. I saw broken floor tiles, scratched and worn furniture, etc. Plus, phones weren’t working, so we couldn’t call the desk, TV’s weren’t showing any channels or streaming, and ice machine in the refrigerator didn’t work. The front desk staff were very nice, but this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in a while.
- 2/5
The WiFi didn’t work, two tvs did not work , when we arrived the phones were down for hours. I wasn’t expecting a $255 per night suite to not suit all the needs of traveling and being really comfortable. The staff at front desk was rude and had me and my family waiting because there phones was down so we had to call the third party who we booked through to update changes to our reservations and email the new update to them. All around very stressful check in process and the stay was not worth $255. A lot of amenities were not working and up to part.
- 2/5
Surprise $5 fee for parking added at the end of the stay. Security was a joke - card readers to access building were completely broken or outright missing. Gym is in a separate building from the hotel rooms, which isn't advertised on the site, and not ideal in winter/rain. Massive gap between bottom of door and floor allowed pot smoke and noise from neighbors into the unit.
- 4/5
The room was clean but the carpet was old. Lots of scratches and dents in the vanity. The breakfast was great and staff were friendly.
- 5/5
Very nice property!
- 5/5
The receptionist was so very sweet and helpful when we arrived. I wish I remembered her name so I could put it here she made the stay so much better!!
- 5/5
My fiancé and I visit Rockford, IL quite frequently and this is the only hotel that we feel comfortable in. I work front desk at a hotel in Indiana and I know all the ins and outs. I can honestly say this hotel is 5 stars when it comes to cleanliness and customer service.
- 5/5
Central to the expressway
- 5/5
Very clean and friendly staff!
- 5/5
Everything was clean and the area was very quiet and close to a lot of good stores in one major thing about this place. The staff was awesome.
- 1/5
We contacted the front desk about our television not working and she said she would call the company which is in Canada to reset it. I called back about 30 minutes later and she said a server was down and other tvs were out as well. Upon checkout we asked for a credit to our room because of the issue. She said contact the manager because she couldn’t do anything. Very disappointed with this hotel. I won’t be staying here anymore.
- 3/5
I thought I was suppose to get two queen size beds. Instead I got a suite. It had a bedroom with a queen bed and the front room had a pull out bed. When you open it it came out all the way to the desk . It also was so close to the bedroom door that you could not open it all the way. The bathroom was in the bedroom. So the person sleeping in the front room had to walk into the bedroom . Was not able to give the people in the bedroom any privacy. The pull out bed was the worst thing I have ever slept on. I have slept in Japan on mats and the pull out bed was worst. The bars under the bed were sticking in my back all night. I went to the office to complain and get pain pills so I could deal with it in the middle of the night but no one was at the dask
- 1/5
Main forgot to reset alarm clock from previous guest! Good morning!!!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. I think our only complaint was the waffle iron during breakfast wasn't cooking our waffles thoroughly. Our room was bigger than i expected as it came with a kitchenette and a large sofa bed, perfect for me and my 2 kids.
- 3/5
It was just musty and rundown. The front desk girl was so sweet though!
- 5/5
This hotel could use some updates for sure, but it was clean and our room was HUGE. We stayed in the 2 bedroom that also had a separate livingroom and kitchen area. Would stay here again for sure.
- 3/5
The staff was friendly. It was nice to a breakfast option. There was a crack in the bathroom sink and the wall-mounted soap was broken. The room was a bit outdated. The service was good.
- 4/5
The staff was extremely friendly. But from the missing hot tub that was pictured, to the disappointing breakfast service. The value for the cost was not there.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The property could use some maintenance - peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, tiles chipped or missing grout. The cleaning seemed really good but when I opened the dishwasher wondering where all of the dishes were, it was almost full with dirty dishes. The breakfast seemed good (I didn't try everything) but I was really disappointed when the coffee was cold. Microwaves fix a lot.
- 5/5
Good value for money and good breakfast
- 4/5
Nice place. Room was clean and spacious. Road construction was passable. Local dining options were kinda pricey with long wait times. Woild stay there again though.
- 3/5
I thought the room was very dingy. It was a little depressing. There was no dish soap for the dishes. There was an extra roll of papertowels which was nice. We were only there for 2 nights and were not going to buy dish soap. The staff was very pleasant. The room had an odor of cat urine upon walking into the room.
- 5/5
I like that the staff was very nice and the room was very clean I was most definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 5/5
The breakfast was very good with real eggs, waffles, bisquits, oatmeal, toaster, fruit.
- 5/5
I love how many hotels now have the shampoo, conditioner and body wash pumps in showers. Makes showering so simple. The mattresses were beyond heavenly, I always struggle to fall asleep while on vacation and seems like I need a vacation from my vacation, but these beds were phenomenal. Love the kitchen inclusion, it’s like a small home. It was great, and breakfast was enjoyable. Didn’t use the pool, but it’s there. Absolutely loved this place.
- 3/5
Dryers in the laundry don't work, hourly staff were nice, manager is a hack
- 3/5
2nd toilet floaded butcthey broughtva plunger asap. Other than that. I would recommend this hotel
- 5/5
I wish the pet fee amount would show on Hotels.com website as it was $75, which is a bit high for a small dog.
- 5/5
Bathroom products were almost empty and removed from wall. ( shampoo, body wash, etc) Otherwise well set. A dust pan would be helpful for pet friendly units.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice
- 5/5
My spouse and I (central Michigan) had a delayed Christmas here with our adult child (eastern Minnesota), and it was a lovely place to meet. Excellent restaurants nearby, and grand to have a kitchenette in our suite. I just wish they hadn't removed the whirlpool; still in the hotel pictures, but not actually there.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the beds very comfortable with lots of pillows. The breakfast was was very good with lots of selections. Parking was abundant and close to the room.
- 2/5
The staff was amazing ..however the hotel is dated .carpet needed cleaning..sheets weren’t changed for my 11day stay ..it is dog friendly but the dog started barking at 6am it’s also a non smoking room hotel but my neighbor was a smoker could smell it when he was up with the dog ..so not much rest the mattress wasn’t up to the Marriott standard ended up with a very sore back
- 5/5
Amazing! The room and hotel is one of the best we've stayed at in awhile.
- 5/5
Great hotel with shopping & dining around. I liked our one bedroom suite. The only odd thing was that there was 1 bathroom and you had to walk through it to get to the bathroom, so slightly inconvenient for middle of the night trips for the person sleeping on the couch bed. Nice breakfast & nice staff.

Very nice stay with friendly staff. Our keys kept deactivating, but staff addressed the problem immediately.
- 5/5
Everything was fine. Stayed at same location before and knew what everything was like.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean an comfortable. A little outdated and some pieces of furniture were a little worn. But everything worked well. Kitchen was stocked with all the dishes and cookware needed. 2-room suite had plenty of space for the program parts of a mother/daughter retreat which had 9 participants.
- 4/5
It’s wa great but they should make sure the sheets are clean and theses no hair in the beds thanks
- 4/5
The property is very clean, safe, quiet and feels like a piece of home. The Netflix and HBO apps on the TV didn't work, but Showtime and YouTube did.
- 5/5
Probably one of the cleanest hotels weve ever stayed at! The suite was bigger than expected & very nice
- 3/5
I liked the fact the room had a full kitchen with dish washer. What I did not like was the breakfast not what I’m use to with complementary breakfast with a hotel also my first room TV did not work but we were moved to another room so that worked out
- 4/5
Great hotel. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Only complaint is that no bar soap in room and front desk said we would have our room refreshed midway during our visit, and it didn’t happen. I had to call about it the next day.
- 2/5
The hotel is worn. TV stand made the TV crooked. Dresser drawer was broken and NOT fixed when brought to their attention. Daily housekeeping was not provided when asked. I’ll never stay there again!
- 3/5
Look like it needs to be renovated.
- 5/5
Place was very clean . The staff courteous and helpful . Full breakfast served .
- 5/5
It was great, clean, just a little outdated. Bed was comfy.

- 4/5
Very nice room
- 5/5
Great service. Clean comfy room. Close to everything. Will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
We liked the way the room was set up. We liked the fact that we had a full kitchen and plenty of storage.
- 2/5
The air conditioning didn't work for 3 days. We called they gave us fans until maintenance came the next day
- 4/5
It was very cozy, clean and accessible, the staff are very courteous and the public safety signage is everywhere.
- 5/5
It was a quick little getaway and it was great!
- 2/5
horrible wait time room should of been cleaner especially for price I paid front desk person not helpful needs better cleaning
- 4/5
Make sure to bring your own coffee. Property is clean and staff is very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is starting to age as the furniture is a little worn. Overall, our stay was great.
- 5/5
Really nice hotel room with a full kitchen. Staff was super friendly also. Other then the smell of people using said full kitchen it was prob the best hotel I've stayed in, in a long time.
- 5/5
It was great. Clean and comfortable!
- 3/5
Free breakfast was extremely limited due to pandemic. Room was clean, comfortable. Bathroom and kitchen were stocked appropriately.
- 3/5
Musty smell in room, sticky floors, no trash cans in the room
- 2/5
The property is showing signs of deterioration, e.g., broken and cracked tiles in the kitchenette, peeling paint in the bedrooms. We last stayed at this hotel in 2018, in the same suite actually, and it it is really showing a lot of wear and tear. We were there for 6-nights and were not told at check-in that the room would only be cleaned after the 4th night due to COVID-19. Thus we had to put our soiled towels and trash out in the hallway for the cleaning staff to remove. After our 2d night, the maid started leaving fresh towels and trash can liners outside our door for us to pick up. Alarmingly the county’s mandatory mask/face covering rule was not consistently followed the front desk staff. In sum, would not recommend this hotel to another prospective traveler
- 5/5
The room was better than I expected and they offered plenty of amazing services!
- 5/5
Our room was nice. We specifically wanted the kitchen and were pleased with everything there. The halls show a bit of wear and tear.
- 5/5
One night stop over, goodchoice
- 4/5
Honestly this was my 1st R.I. hotel using and i was pleasantly surprised with the room. Just disappointed that pool and spa were still closed
- 5/5
Very clean and fragrance free room. The AC vents are pointed right at the bed area which made it very difficult to control room temperature and not feel a constant draft all night long. The vents could not be closed or shifted to re-direct the air flow.
- 5/5
Ashley brought us ice when we needed it. She was so helpful!
- 3/5
I booked through hotel.com the first night. I realized I needed a second night and booked it when I got to the hotel. I got there very late and was very tired from the drive. The woman at the front desk gave me a key that did not work to get inside the building. I went back she checked the keys and told me to try them again. Tried it a second time. One of the keys worked on the outside door but neither unlocked the door to my room. Went back again and she put me in a different room. Very annoyed by this. Then get back home from my travels and check my bank account to find that I have been charged for 2 day's when my first day was already paid for with hotels.com. Terrible, I will not stay there again.
- 5/5
Great place to stay at.. staff friendly and professional!!
- 5/5
The rooms are updated and clean. Staff is friendly and the amenities are great. Highly recommended!!
- 3/5
We told him our room did not get cleaned that day, he said housekeeping was still there but that was the last we heard. Pretty disappointing stay for a Marriott. Bfast was below average for a Marriott also.
- 2/5
The bummer was we rented a king suite (king bed and couch pullout) and had to use the couch for our kids. The pullout sofa mattress was SOOOO awful. It was so thin and you could feel the springs through it... no padding whatsoever. On top of that, anytime you moved the bed squeaked and it was annoying for everyone in the room. Mattress didn’t even lay flat.
