Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. However, there are some consistent complaints about the food options, room service, and the condition of the rooms, particularly the bathrooms and carpets.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Limited food options and mediocre food quality
- Room service not always available or efficient

Breakfast was amazing There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

Very good

The location was great. The property seemed like a gym with a hotel attached. The staff wasn't the most hospitable, food was not good (we ordered multiple times), and the rooms are relatively small if traveling with a family. I'll choose a different hotel next time.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff, room was amazing and clean, exactly what my girlfriend and I needed for our one night getaway. Special shoutout to Javed, the concierge on the night shift. He went out of his way to assist us and make our stay awesome. Would absolutely book again!
- 1.5/5
The room was clean. Waitstaff were nice ( the breakfast had been sitting out and was barely edible) The hotel staff were hot and cold. The person who helped me was nice but the staff person who was checking in another party at the same time loudly announced both of our room and floor numbers. I expressed my concern but was not offered to be another floor or room. The next morning I checked my bank statement and they had charged me even though I paid in full through booking.com. I called the hotel and was told to "take it up with my bank" . I placed a to the manager which went unanswered.

Thank you

The staff is overwhelmed in the restaurant that cannot handle the guest! I made two room reservations and my daughter’s room was a joke as they got a brick wall to look at, the toilet did not work and the tank would not fill, the shower temp was only super hot or very cold!!! The room was unacceptable and we are not coming back to this location!!

Pool was great! Fun atmosphere. Music. Pool bar. Curtains in room has a mystery substance all over them that we didn’t notice until we closed them for the night. Yuck. I’m

We have great memories of this hotel. But for one thing, we stayed in a room with a door connected to the next room. The people in the next room that was connected to the door interrupted our sleep by laughing and talking loudly until 2 a.m. How loud the sound was, it seemed to be in the same space. And for two days... The hotel will have to find a good way for other customers. Otherwise, it will give other customers a sleepless night. Everything was good except that.

Staff is extremely helpful and professional. Hotel is beautiful and affordable.

Everything is awesome per usual.

Beautiful hotel but front desk is impossible to get ahold of. Main Marriott line was unhelpful with information
- 5/5
Clean and staff were great!
- 5/5
The bed, pillows and linen are premium which made for a comfortable night sleep. Nice having a decent restaurant and coffee bar. The hotel itself smelt great though out. Love staying here.

This has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a hotel and we travel 1-2 times a month. Will not be coming and will never recommend this hotel to anyone.
- 5/5
Clean room, comfortable beds and the quiet room is a great benefit of this hotel.
- 4/5
Clean property, beautiful room rooms, relaxing. The only downfall was a $35 parking fee per day.

CONS: I like when hotels recycle. This hotel appears to recycle with a divided trash can in room; one side for trash and one for recycling. However; when I took my recycling out in the hallway where I saw the maid, they threw all the recycling in the same trash, which makes me believe that they do not recycle. The second day, we left at about 930 and maid service had already come through. I asked front desk to have them come back to change bed and receive new towels. They never came.

Great stay. The man who checked us in with great and very welcoming. He gave us wonderful recommendations on where to eat/drink in Walnut Creek!

Room was clean, staff really nice, the gym and pool attached to the hotel were great.

The breakfast was delicious. The food was hot and fresh. The Head Cook was very friendly to our family. Continue doing a great job.

- 5/5
Really nice hotel! The workout club that was included was top tier! Nice pool and sauna area.
- 5/5
We were extremely satisfied with our stay and are already planning another visit to enjoy the state-of-the-art gym, swimming, and the relaxing atmosphere.
- 4/5
Staff was absolutely wonderful, very kind and courteous. The Cafe was terrific, one of the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. Rooms were very good. Only major complaint is that the temperature kept automatically changing from heating to cooling and I kept waking up at night feeling very cold, this really disturbed my sleep. Also the pillows are very flat - we requested more pillows.
- 5/5
Ideal location for our visit, room was clean, housekeeping was very good, restaurant food was pretty good, incredible gym!
- 5/5
Very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good and really just had a nice stay. Thank you.

Stay because of the bay club
- 4/5
I do not like paying $25 to park to stay at the Renaissance Hotel in Walnut Creek,ca
- 4/5
Only one problem this morning the doors to the elevator area was locked. After two calls to the front desk I learned that maintenance was being done. The doors were not supposed to be locked. It was over one hour before they were unlocked. I even took the stairs first to learn that exiting would set off an alarm. So I went back upstairs. We were virtually locked on the floor for over one hour that I was aware of. If not for that I would have gave a five star rating.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
Room was very dirty, drapes and carpet stained. Reached out and have yet to hear anything a week later.
- 5/5
Love this hotel, staff is so friendly and the gym is amazing!!!
- 5/5
Fabulous.. expect there was a noise in the room I want to say it was the air conditioning system.
- 4/5
Access to bay club
- 3/5
They no longer have valet parking. Check-in experience was good. We did call down to ask for some wine glasses to be brought up and it took over a half hour and two calls. Love that we get access to the Bay Club while staying there. Went over to use the facility for the sauna and unfortunately, it was out of order on the women’s side.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff.
- 2/5
Check in at 3:00 pm. Staff not aware of room availability at 2;45 pm.???? Told to go away and comeback at 3pm.???Seriously?? For 20 minutes you didn't know what rooms were available? $25 parking fee for overnight? Should have been informed of this before booking.
- 3/5
The bay club is always great but the rooms seem to be declining and falling apart.
- 3/5
I always love staying here but unfortunately this last time the TV volume box was broken so maintenance took over 45 minutes to switch out a new TV. And to add my dinner was a really bad cut of lamb, had to return it. Was supposed to get a discount but never did. But, always all staff is soo nice.
- 5/5
Helpful employee, quite, large room
- 5/5
Best hotel in the Walnut Creek Area. Hands down.
- 3/5

The hotel seemed like it needs a refresh. Stained carpet in the rooms, peeling wallpaper, etc. The staff were excellent but there was never enough servers or bartenders so they were overloaded and the food, while very good, took a very long time to come out.
- 1/5
The front desk gentleman who was working there Monday morning around 5am he was very rude. It sounded like he hates his job. He was mad that i asked him for microwave at 5am lol
- 5/5
We love coming here for our family's staycation.
- 5/5
No fridge, parking is an extra $25 x however many days you booked
- 1/5
The people who checked me in and out were very nice and I suppose the ratings are for the property, itself; however, the room is a 3 star at best. When attempting to flush in room 414, the toilet didn’t complete the flush at first. After jiggling the handle a few times, it finally completed the process, but it took several minutes. When used again, it never completely flushed… even after waiting attempting around 6 or 7 times. In addition, the carpet in the room is very nasty looking. It was probably vacuumed, but it seemed to have some real filth in it. The bed was okay and fine enough to sleep, and the size of the room was decent. The metal shelf in the bathroom is a bit dated, but functional. To be considered a 4-star, I’d expect quite a bit more investment in functional toilets and deep cleaned carpets, but the employees were very kind.
- 5/5
Renaissance is a fantastic hotel. The staff, facilities (pool and gym) were all excellent. The surrounding area is fairly limited but you do have everything you need on site and the BART station is a 5 min walk away. It was a shame to leave!
- 5/5
The hotel is centrally located and has plenty of amenities such as use of the bay club for swimming and fitness center. Hotel is not in good condition. Everything needs painting and floors need to be cleaned and updated. Outside is beautiful, but rooms need attention for the money you pay to stay
- 5/5
Only downside is that they don't allow pets. But we will stay there again!
- 5/5
Full size 25 yard lap pool with lane lines!!
- 3/5
Staff was friendly and check in was fast. Lobby area was modern and looked nice. The first room we got had a problem with the AC unit. It was making a loud rattling sound. The staff was quick to give us a new room. The room itself seemed outdated. The carpet was old, the shower was a bathtub shower, and there were only charging ports for mobile devices on one of the two nightstands.
- 5/5
Great property with excellent facilities!
- 5/5
We LOVED the outside pool bar and menu options. Our room was nice and clean. Loved the Kevin Michell products in the bathroom. Definitely will be back !
- 5/5
Amenities were great - would stay again anytime
- 5/5
Bay club facility adjacent to the property is amazing
- 5/5
It was surprising that there were no bell staff or valet for cars (although we prefer self-parking), no hosts in restaurant, although wait staff/ manager were available for seating. Food was good. The condition of public areas, especially elevators and 3rd floor elevator lobby, need attention. There are scuff marks on walls and floors.
- 5/5
Great location for a family event we were attending in the area. The only hitch was that we couldn’t get service at the hotel bar. Other people were there having drinks but we waited 15 minutes and never saw anyone. We decided to go somewhere else. Ruth Bancroft Gardens is nearby and a lovely stop!
- 5/5
Quick check in very nice room
- 3/5
Customer service is sub par. Instructions upon check in were unclear. The front desk phone was always busy. And overall not very friendly. I won’t stay here again, there are plenty of better options in Walnut Creek. This location seems to prioritize the Bay Club Gym, the hotel is comparable to a Best Western.
- 4/5
Convenience, customer service, and ambiance
- 5/5
I love this hotel. It’s clean and is conducive to all the restaurants in the area. Having been able to utilize the Bay club gym inside the hotel is a plus w the sauna included.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Staff are not helpful- they all seem to be part time and no one takes ownership. Housekeepers are no less than terrible. Food is good for what it’s worth

Amazing hotel
- 4/5
When I purchased the room, I paid $17 for Valet Parking! There was NO valet parking offered! You had to self park and walk a ways to the room.
- 4/5
Terrific staff, spa and gym facilities. No WiFi during my visit, though.
- 5/5
Always a pleasure to visit!
- 4/5
I love the hotel and have been staying there for over 15 years. The Bay Club is fantastic.
- 4/5
Large comfortable rooms. An actual health club for fitness options. Friendly staff. The downside was evening food options. They have a nice restaurant, but the cafe with more casual food options closes early, and there isn’t a lot of options directly around the property.
- 3/5
Outdated and needs renovation.
- 4/5
Nice stay! Love the gym access with the hotel!
- 3/5
One night this week I invited 2 people in for an informal business diner in the restaurant. It was the perfect place, however you had bingo night with the announcer on microphone yelling the numbers and this went on for awhile....IN A RESTAURANT IN A BUSINESS HOTEL! We finally had to move our dinner meeting to a restaurant across the street. One thing that I did appreciate was that I like to sleep with a fan on and there where no fans. Then I was told that the manager had his own office fan brought to me. That was a pleasant surprise and problem solved.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
Very nice & quiet. The front desk staff were super friendly & helpful
- 4/5
Good stay
- 5/5
Nice large room. Quiet with nice large bath.
- 4/5
Very nice experience. Clean and comfortable, with access to the Bay Club facilities.
- 1/5
such a wonderful place to stay with friendly staff
- 5/5
Everything was great, easy check in, amazing staff, excellent customer service
- 5/5
Nice mattress. Exellent house salad. Restaurant open later. Very quiet heating and cooling. Tub was big enough to take a good hot soak.
- 1/5
Not a safe hotel.Alarm goes off in the middle of the night. Couldn’t find our reservation. Overcharge us for breakfast and valet which they didn’t even have. But they charged $27 for self parking and hotels.com for showing it for $17 Canadian. It’s ridiculous. It’s so loud.
- 5/5
Had a very pleasant stay. Clean room, lovely & comfortable lobby area. Staff was friendly & helpful and the lobby had everything a person would need.
- 5/5
The cleanliness in my room was obvious. Everything was immaculate! Check in went smoothly. I've stayed here 3x now. It's comfortable and enjoyable. My only complaint: electronic lights inside and curtain leakage (bright lights outside windows all night) made it difficult to sleep. I think hotel should provide eye shades and consider improving main curtain area (a lot of light leaks in from top area above rod.)
- 5/5
Best hotel in the area. If you’re visiting San Francisco. It’s worth to stay here and drive the 20 minutes to DTSF.
- 5/5
The rooms are spacious, very comfortable a bit dated but I didn’t mind it at all.
- 4/5
Hotel is beautiful but some staff need more training, our sink was clogged and the evening staff didn’t even bother resolving issue. Room was kind of tired looking but the amenities are wonderful!
- 5/5
Great location, immaculate rooms. Easy check-in.
- 4/5
Love the access to the gym!
- 2/5
on wifi for 3 days, sink plugged , and bath tub plug did not work
- 4/5
But the parking sucked. And I pre paid for breakfast, and the charged me twice for it. Same for the parking. So the place cost me an extra $100. Its life.
- 3/5
The amenities at the property were underwhelming compared to a nearby property that has a lower star hotel rating. We had requested more coffee filters for the room from the front desk, which was never done by housekeeping. Overall, while we were hoping to like the hotel, we found it subpar compared to the hotel across the street and plan to return there.
- 5/5
Good customer service
- 4/5
Enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
it was a nice stay
- 5/5
Nice quick stay
- 5/5
The place was clean quiet and luxurious. I liked all the restaurants and gyms available. Parking was extra
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, good restaurant
- 1/5
Terrible conditions. Staff innoring you and rude. Overrated hotel ! Noisy
- 5/5
Renaissance “Bay Club” is my go to when I visit. I was a member for many years. The staff is amazing and the gym in bar none. I will be back in the next few weeks!
- 5/5
Nice gym and pool access.
- 4/5
It had a spa area & workout area. Numerous swimming pools. Self-parking charge of $25 was ridiculous. I understand in a downtown area where parking is a premium. This area was in the suburbs; not necessary at all. Check was at 3pm. Our room wasn't ready & we weren't notified when it was ready. I had to go back to the front desk to finally find out it was ready... ☹️
- 4/5
No comment
- 5/5
Aside from the marijuana smoke emitted from parking garage into our room, our stay was good
- 3/5
I appreciated having so amenities in one place. I wished the shower tub was not on a slant since I slipped in it and fell.
- 5/5
The fitness club makes this place a gem. Sauna, steam, pool, ample equipment and fitness classes. We will definitely be back!
- 4/5
Small beds clean
- 3/5
Only issue was at check-in regarding no explanation of parking. The front desk rep just pointed where the garage was, but didn't explain the $25 nightly cost or that we needed to validate our ticket at the front desk. As a result, I paid by credit card at the machine the first morning so was double charged ($25+$25) the first day
- 5/5
Evening dinner restaurant staff no coordinating to get food to us timely. Great set up in room though.
- 1/5
People at check in were not very helpful. The rooms were very old and the beds were terrible.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel connected to a spa and gym facility.
- 5/5
Clean and well appointed. Room was nice. Staff was friendly.
- 3/5

- 5/5
Service does not exist. Good place to spend the night
- 5/5
Sauna and hot tub were too hot
- 3/5
The loudspeaker rang out around 8:30a.m throughout the hotel announcing that they’d be conducting tests. The strobe lights and alarms were also going off. it was almost comical We checked out early that morning for obvious reasons.
- 5/5
Great hotel with great accommodations and friendly staff.
- 5/5
The staff was fabulous, there were healthy food options (even for someone with Hashimoto’s) and the spa has just about everything you might need. I was on a book tour, doing 6 events in 4 states in 10 days—yet I felt refreshed and good at the Renaissance Walnut Creek.
- 4/5
Good
- 2/5
They didn’t have the room we requested and the hotel is old and don’t look clean.
- 2/5
We were had a family reunion. Our room was located on 6floor and right above us on roof was mechanical unit which did go in a vibration cycle and loud noise shutdown every 15 min. Called front desk and explain . It was may be about 1AM. He responds was well…. Nobody has complained yet! I said I am complaining ! I can sleep. After a discussion he said I send somebody to look at. It was very bad night we sleep good and I was fighting with Migraines. I also want to complain about parking. When I made reservations no body told me about parking. Access from parking to hotel was really hard and long . The gate was broken and there was a guy standing by the gate and insert our tickets manually to open the gate. Long wait! And still she chariots $25 for the parking that supposed to be free! What a deal! N noisy room , broken gate and Dditional charge for parking and still didn’t hear a sorry weird from the staff!
- 1/5
Never in my life have I found a place that would not take cash. Couldn't even buy dinner. Had to use credit card. Cost me $30 to park in a handicap parking stall. No room service, NO COFFEE in room. Bed was like laying on floor. HARD. Save your money and go somewhere else. DO NOT go to the Renaissance Walnut Creek Hotel. OH I forgot. They did give me two ( count them ) 2 very small bottles of water. 6 oz if I not mistaken. NEVER again will we stay there. Spent close to $800 for the worst place to spend 3 nights. Could not wait to get out of there. If it wasn't for my mother-inlaw in the hospital, we would have never stayed there.
- 5/5
I loved our stay, the hotel was peaceful and beautiful. We felt safe and the staff were friendly. I would’ve liked more dining options but overall it was a great experience.
- 5/5
The Renaissance Walnut Creek is my favorite place to visit in the Bay Area. The staff is amazing, the pool has a great vibe and the gym has recently been updated with new equipment. #10
- 5/5
Gym was great Rooms need updating
- 3/5
Nice, clean hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Not every room has a view, mine looked out into neighboring buildings wall.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel! Pool was having a party and very busy. Hotel room was well put together and bed was comfortable.
