Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the friendly staff, clean rooms, and convenient location, but expressing concerns about the small room size, noise levels, and limited amenities. The hotel seems to be popular among solo travelers and those looking for a budget-friendly option in a prime location.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean rooms and bathrooms
- Small room size
- Noise levels from neighboring rooms and outside
- 3/5
The hotel bar needs to be more accessible, given that they advertise the hotel as having both a bar and a rooftop area. Throughout my stay, the tables were marked as reserved yet remained unoccupied—it was awkward. In the room I stayed in, it was impossible to use the sink to brush my teeth, and the room definitely didn't match the photos shown when I booked it; otherwise, the hotel is pleasant and well-located.
- 5/5
Always friendly staff and wonderful rooms!
- 3/5
No refrigerator in the room
- 5/5
Very friendly staff
- 5/5
I had a great stay at Hotel Hive. Room service came and cleaned my room while I was away. Front desk was friendly and helpful. &Pizza on site was definitely a plus. Super nice area and easy to get around.
- 5/5
Nice modern place in a convenient location. We got a "basement" room, which was a bit of a bummer since only small windows, but overall liked the place and the front desk was helpful.
- 5/5
The rooms are small but thats how it is with a micro hotel. They had maybe the coolest elevator ever. The staff was cool. The bar area was great. Dude they make pizza at this hotel its awesome! And the best price i could find for sure!
- 2/5
The room I booked was supposed to have two queen beds but was actually two twin beds and was located in the basement and cramped. Also there was noisy foot traffic late into the night and early morning. To top things off there was not hot water in the shower in the morning.
- 5/5
The room was small but very clean, bed was a dream, shower pressure and heat were awesome. Staff was terrific. Neighborhood (Foggy Bottom) is phenomenal for food and proximity to the metro. Would stay again -- but would book a bigger room.
- 5/5
Clean room in a lovely location
- 5/5
AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE - LET ME STAY TILL 2PM FOR CHECKOUT! N/A
- 3/5
Great location. Staff were wonderful. Pizza was amazing Very small room. Nowhere to put our clothes. Breakfast wasn’t included. No iron and ironing board. Parking was extra.
- 5/5
Love this place and I will definitely go back. Attention to detail was on point. Staff was welcoming and accommodating. It had exactly what we needed.
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable room. I loved that they had a coffee bar, dive bar, rooftop bar and pizza place all in the same hotel. My only issue was I heard a lot of stomping and jumping above my room and I am not sure if that was another room above me or the rooftop bar.
- 4/5
Clean room, small but totally perfect for a night & location was spot on. Staff was AMAZING!!
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
Clean and friendly staff, close to all the monuments and memorials
- 5/5
Great decor, location, and staff. Loved our stay here!
- 4/5
Smallmrooms, well located
- 5/5
Excellent stay
- 4/5
Very well-appointed room for 1. Excellent bed and pillows. BUT, be aware that a so-called Buzz room (smaller and less expensive) is in the basement with almost no natural light, and bright lights outside at night. Needs better blinds. Also, my Expedia booking seemed to malfunction, so there was confusion ++ on arrival. I recommend the hotel, but check what you are booking.
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 4/5
Easy to park in front and unload bags. Brian and Sauna were fantastic hosts that checked us in. Location was good and roof top bar was good too. Beds were comfy, good shower and lovely and clean. The expensive parking a block away. They only sold craft beer at the bar. We were on the 1st floor and all you could hear on the morning was people walking on the reception floor and chairs being dragged to set up the breakfast restaurant. The elevator is slow as hell and can only fit 1 person plus luggage.

Location and personal
- 4.5/5
very clean ,comfortable, we can leave our luggage out the check in time
- 5/5
I found the check in process really easy, especially with the pre check in process, all details were logged. The staff were really friendly and the room was really laid out and clean. Great stop over! Nothing really.
- 4/5
Roof top bar, pizza next door!! Breakfast was reasonable. Walking distance to monuments!! Got charge twice. Once for Expedia and then the hotel. Got some charges reversed …. The place its self was very nice, workers were super terrific! Just the hiccup of the charges…. Would stay again 💝💝
- 5/5
Had the best time, clean property, very professional and kind staff, the location is perfect!
- 4/5
Love the bar, pizza on site, rooms very small and noisy
- 1/5
A clean and hygienic room is the minimum expectation when staying at a hotel, and unfortunately this property failed to meet that standard. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made to cleanliness and pest control.
- 5/5
Workers were amazing and very helpful
- 5/5
Cool place. Food onsite. Convenient location near GW.
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
Convenient location, pristine, unique property. Easy check in and checkout. Very friendly staff.
- 4.5/5
Great location, great pizza and rooftop. All we needed and nothing we didn’t. Breakfast was ok, but I’m not a breakfast eater. Coffee was good!
- 5/5
Exceptional
- 5/5
Small and efficient rooms. Great location. Helpful, friendly staff. Perfect for my visit.
- 5/5
The staff are so helpful and friendly, they made sure I had everything I needed and gave me clear instructions for local transit. The rooftop bar was a great place to relax with a slushy drink and the pizza downstairs was delicious! Rooms are compact but have everything you need for a nights stay. The vibe was very cool and I would definitely stay again if ever in DC.
- 5/5
The property is well maintained! The staff was over the top when it came to helping with any questions or needs you may have had. Neat and clean and a good price. I definitely recommend the Hive Hotel!
- 4/5
Staff was great
- 4.5/5
The location and the stuff is very nice. There is some noise but it is okay.
- 4.5/5
There is some noise but it is okay.
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff It is very economic on room size. But point is that we spent time being on foot in town. So not a big problem. To relax we went to roof top bar, they messed up an order. But otherwise okay. Maybe turn down the music, make it easier to relax and understand each other
- 5/5
Micro room but it has everything you need
- 5/5
Super adorable hotel, the staff was incredibly attentive. The room was clean and well equipped. I would definitely stay here again!
- 3.5/5
We asked 2 times for our room to be cleaned. This was never doen. Breakfast was really long wait and different waiters had different rools regarding the coupon of the breakfast. For example day 1 you where able to order waffles and fruit. Day 2 this wasn't possible and we had to pay extra. Even when this only 8 dollars and the voucher was 20 dollars.
- 2/5
Location Who is the tiniest room I’ve ever been in. Definitely like being in a beehive. The only place I could open. My suitcase was in the larger shower.
- 2/5
Location Who is the tiniest room I’ve ever been in. Definitely like being in a beehive. The only place I could open. My suitcase was in the larger shower.
- 5/5
Wonderful property! Great location, friendly staff, and all you could ask for from the room. I would definitely come back.
- 5/5
For a micro hotel, the room was pretty big. It had everything one could need, especially when most of our time was spent out exploring.
- 5/5
So clean and comfortable beds. Area around was very clean and safe. The staff are very helpful. Close to the metro station.
- 5/5
The hotel is great. Situated close to the Metro. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The room, bed and bathroom are clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and pleasant
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff. Location great.
- 4/5
Breakfast was perfect
- 5/5
Rooms were small, but perfect location for visiting GWU. Very clean and great staff
- 5/5
Lots of useful information
- 5/5
We stayed at the Hive for 5 nights. The staff were all very accommodating and professional. The entire hotel was very clean and well maintained. The location is walkable to Georgetown and also the national mall which was convenient. The hotel area is very safe and quiet at night. The rooftop Hive bar was very cool and also having a pizza place on site was great for snacking. Additionally the offsite parking that was available to hotel guest was nicely discounted and in close proximity. All in All we enjoyed our stay at the Hive and would definitely return. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
I lived the quiet neighborhood with easy access to downtown. The room was clean & just enough for my last night in DC.
- 4/5
The Hive is clean and staff was helpful and friendly. The room was small (London standard) but was fit for purpose.
- 5/5
It was simple, clean and everything we expected from a “micro” hotel. Nice rooftop bar, great pizza from “&pizza”. The hotel is close to metro, which was to only way we traveled. The metro took us everywhere we wanted to visit; it is very easy to navigate. I highly recommend Hotel Hive
- 5/5
Great location for our first trip to DC, staff very engaging and helpful. Having access to food within our hotel was a bonus. We really enjoyed our trip and happy to have found your hotel.
- 5/5
For starters, the location in the Foggy Bottom area of DC is hard to beat. It's an incredibly safe and completely walkable neighborhood that makes getting around the DC area perfect. The 5-minute walk to the metro station was perfect for starting and ending our long days running around, taking in this amazing city. Since it was our first ever stay in a "Micro Hotel" our room felt anything but cramped. Our Loft room was cozy, comfortable, and perfectly designed to maximize the space given. What made the space stand out was the huge windows, which let in a ton of natural light, making the room feel bright and spacious, thus perfect for waking up and planning our day's adventures. Lastly, there was the phenomenal staff... Every staff member we encountered was super friendly and always willing to go that extra mile to help answer any questions that we had. One front desk staff member who stood out was Sana, who, at every interaction, was always the first to ask how we were and how our stay was going. She even mentioned several helpful insights that made our stay that much better. Simply put, I can not recommend the Hotel Hive enough.... It truly is a gem in the Foggy Bottom District of DC...
- 5/5
We were very pleased by the excellent friendly service from the staff and the cleanliness of the room. It was a bonus that they were very dog friendly
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room, cute boutique hotel.
- 5/5
Outstanding staff. Unique rooms. Great location.
- 4/5
A few minor concerns: 1. No water readily available in lobby. Much walking around the city so a water station would be a great addition 2. Shower water warm but not hot. 3. Coffee. Cups at the bar too small. 4. Although on GWU campus, limited food/dining in the area and everything closes at 10pm so plan ahead.
- 5/5
Great location, clean room. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Excellent front desk and breakfast staff. Rooms clean and basic needs available. Beds comfy. We would stay there next time in the area.
- 5/5
Hotel Hive is such a cool spot- clean, modern, and perfectly located. Loved the cozy, minimalist rooms and the overall energy of the place.
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable. Check in was easy and staff great. The location is great. The free coffee and tea in the am was gone each time I tried to get some, it was 2 days at 2 different times. The bar staff seemed unorganized, could not get a cappuccino drink in the afternoon, she stated she didn’t know how to make it.
- 5/5
Clean! Great location and quiet
- 5/5
Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Basic but excellent
- 5/5
Very unique, dog friendly Hotel. Great location. No frills, but clean, comfortable room in a great location
- 5/5
yes and yes. will recommend stay to my friends.
- 5/5
Awesome staff! Very Clean Hotel
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
I have to start by saying Sana is the SWEETEST! This place leaves guests with personal notes (and treats), free pizza and personal service. It was so wonderful to feel at home during an incredibly stressful visit. ABSOLUTELY recommend!!
- 5/5
Kind staff
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay! Small room, but it had all the things we needed and it was well designed. Very clean room as well. We would definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
It was perfect and the staff was extraordinary!!
- 4/5
The room was very small, but clean and quiet. The most noticeable shortcoming was the lack of accessible outlets near the beds for charging devices. A couple usb charging stations would have been great. The location of the hotel for visiting GWU and all the government buildings and museums was excellent.
- 4/5
The hotel was great, close to many attractions. The room was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was not of the same caliber: we ordered three days but cancelled the next two days after the first day. We found another cafe nearby with better menu and price.
- 5/5
Staff
- 5/5
Loved my time there!
- 5/5
Quiet hotel with friendly staff. Perfect location for our trip to DC.
- 4/5
Breakfast ok
- 5/5
Thank you!
- 5/5
The Room was clean, but it was really tiny. Friendly staff. It was my second time here, and I like that it's close to everything and easy to access.
- 5/5
This is a minimalist hotel with small rooms (think European) but was very clean and had exactly what I needed for my stay. Staff were lovely, I was able to order very reasonably-priced pizza from the attached joint (delicious!) and was $200 less than almost every other hotel in the area. Safe, walkable area, about 4 blocks from metro. Will stay here again on my next visit!
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff! Property is very clean but too many dogs, borderline kennel.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
What a hidden gem! The hotel was inviting, comfy, clean and in a walkable area. In addition, the nightly parking fee (with garage across the street) was a bargain by DC's standards. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
We loved our stay! We wanted to be within walking distance of many downtown attractions without having to sacrifice comfort, cleanliness or safety. We also didn’t need to overpay for a room we were only planning to sleep in. This place is GREAT!! Highly recommend. Our room wasn’t large but it had everything we needed. The mattresses were very comfy. The staff were EXTREMELY helpful & kind. Great bars(2) on premises. It checked all our needs for our DC stay
- 5/5
Rooftop bar was a great touch! Staff were helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. Great location! We were able to walk from hotel to several key spots. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate with comfy bed. It was definitely a micro hotel with small room, but do/able. Nice shower. Price reasonable for this time of year and location
- 5/5
Very close to the important landmarks, memorials and government headquarters. Closer than Watergate Hotel.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 5/5
One of the most beautiful and dreamy hotel I visited. It’s was so Victorian and literally fit my vision. Can’t wait to visit again to stay here. Great location and the street the hotel is on is very beautiful and picturesque.
- 5/5
The staff are very friendly and helpful!
- 5/5
For a place to crash and rest it was perfect
- 5/5
Courteous staff and super clean place. Its a micro hotel so not a lot of amenities available but it’s worth the stay due to its proximity to the National Mall and it does not add additional charges for your dog. Comfortable stay for sure. Thanks.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Everything was very nice, great stay.
- 5/5
Clean and spacious room; rooftop bar has a nice view of the downtown and sunset; staff are accommodating.
- 4/5
Breakfast was poor.
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and rooms were clean. Parking is available for pay on the street but otherwise the garage is $29 every time you go in and out. We were able to find street parking for our stay. The pizza was really good but one of our pizzas was burnt. It happens. They were busy. Overall had a wonderful stay and would stay again. We had two twin beds. Next time I'd like at least a full or queen.
- 5/5
This was the cutest hotel ever with the most amazingly friendly, welcoming, & helpful staff. While the room was small, it was very well appointed and extremely comfortable. Staying here for sure on our next visit!
- 5/5
Great place for an overnight stay! The rooftop bar had a great view and drinks. Will definitely stay here in the future.
- 5/5
Great stay! Will be back.
- 3/5
I rarely write reviews but I felt this needed to be done for other travelers. The parking was less than ideal, no valet parking. Parking was down the street, you had to drop your bags at the door then go park the car then walk back. The rates however for parking were very rea
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Cute, cozy rooms. Very clean. Friendly staff. Comfy beds. All you need.
- 5/5
A lovely hotel with excellent staff and immaculate rooms! We loved the area and location as well! Perfect for exploring all parts of DC!
- 4/5
The hotel is cute, but when they say micro they mean micro! I was traveling solo so the size of the room was fine but my biggest complaint was the sink in the bathroom. It is so small and the placement made it virtually impossible for me to wash my face in it, even brushing my teeth was a bit challenging. I would also say the lack of counter space is tough when doing hair or makeup. Everyone who works there is very nice, the bed was comfy and the property is clean, but it wouldn’t hurt to take the food up a notch and rethink the bathrooms a little bit.
- 5/5
Staff was great
- 5/5
Staff at a super friendly and helpful. Location is a shame trying walk to the Lincoln memorial and all other monuments. Pizza at the restaurant was excellent
- 5/5
Super easy check in experience. Friendly staff. Room was super well presented. Only issue was the fire alarm went off mid-stay for seemingly no reason. Shower also only got medium-warm and not really ever hot, but it was fine.
- 3/5
Nice property and excellent staff
- 4/5
The pizza restaurant in the same building is super practical, but it’s the only restaurant open for supper time in the close neighbourhood. The location is perfect for attractions, but if you don’t want to walk more then 5-10 min at night, you’ll have to eat at the hotel.
- 5/5
Be aware that there is an elevator for the hotel, but it is very small elevator (Fits two people with luggage and that’s it)... We only used it to go to our room initially and after that we used the convenient stairs every time. Loved seeing all the four legged, furry guests staying at the hotel! Note: Fur babies are not allowed on the rooftop* Overall, highly recommend and will stay again when we return to DC.
- 5/5
Great location, fantastic staff.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Rooms are clean but small. This is a micro hotel. The staff is absolutely amazing! Brian, Sana, Ría and Devon went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. Highly recommend unless need lots of room. We were only in our room to sleep. The hotel bar was nice and cozy. They also have a small breakfast and lunch menu. Food is great and so is the service. Will stay again!!
- 4/5
The hotel is in a convenient location and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The room is clean, bathroom is clean, staff are nice and respactful, and the food is good
- 5/5
Staff was incredible both at the front desk and in the restaurant. They were friendly and personable. The location is perfect, just blocks from the Naval Observatory, Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Memorial in the heart of Foggy Bottom and GW campus! We had the Buzz Bunk on the 5th floor and it was fun for a mom and son stay. Bed was comfy and room was clean and bright. Fantastic stay!
- 4/5
Nice stay
- 4/5
The room was clean but really small. The shower took a long time to get hot then was only warm at best. We have the good rating because the staff was exceptional, so friendly and thoughtful.
- 3/5
Shower was never more then tepid the whole time I was there. I asked to change rooms because it was quite loud and the man at the front took a note and no one ever got back to me. Carpet was pretty worn out and fraying. Also there are not a tonne of places to eat nearby so unless you want pizza, be ready to walk about 15-20 mins even for breakfast.
- 4/5
Staff was extremely responsive and exhibited a positive attitude throughout our stay. Building and room were clean, but the less than shoe box sized sink is unacceptable, as was the luke warm shower.
- 5/5
Great location- clean and wonderful helpful and friendly staff!
- 5/5
As always, staff was wonderful! They really make your experience at the Hive great. We love staying here!❤️
- 5/5
Lovely staff & the room was great for the night we stayed I’d absolutely stay again here
- 5/5
Clean updated kind unique hotel
- 5/5
The staff was excellent. spotless room
- 5/5
Good staff. Good vibe. Location is perfect. Room was clean and fun.
- 5/5
Cozy and clean. Friendly staff and great service! Good location at an affordable price. Foggy Bottom gem!
- 5/5
Tiny. But u know that when u book. Great location for day and night mall trips.
- 5/5
The staff really stood out — everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They made check-in and the overall stay feel easy and stress-free. We also tried the pizza and it was surprisingly good, and the bar had a nice vibe with solid drinks. It was convenient having food and drinks right in the hotel. Overall, great location, great service, and a really pleasant stay. I’d definitely come back
- 5/5
10/10 customer service
- 5/5
Muy apropiada para solo descansar con espacios justos y todo lo necesario
- 5/5
Cute hotel, super friendly staff, good parking situation off-site, great location!
- 5/5
As described. Easy parking .
- 5/5
Nice, economical place to stay.
- 5/5
Great experience, recommend! Super cute place, clean, rooms on smaller size but have what you need, and the staff was very nice/helpful. Really appreciate the coffee bar and the ability to text the front desk!!
- 5/5
Lovely hotel - clean and reasonably priced and very comfortable

- 5/5
Staff was amazing
- 5/5
Everything was up to the standart
- 5/5
Cool place, close to the Mall, staff was great.
- 4/5
Clean rom , staff is very nice !
- 5/5
Hotel Hive is the perfect blend of comfort and convenience. A 5 min walk to the metro, 10 to the mall, and 20 to Georgetown. Rooms are petite but have everything you need- you're not there to sit in the hotel anyways! This is my 3rd stay at the Hive and wont be the last.
- 5/5
Friendliest and most helpful staff that I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. Seriously top notch!
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, comfy bed, compact but well designed room…my only complaint was the less than hot showers in the morning. I think the temp could be turned up a notch.
- 4/5
Staff was excellent. Very helpful, courteous. Room was very quiet and comfortable. I would however have liked a bath. But overall it was a very good experience, very nice and helpful people working there. Excellent Coffee ☕.
- 5/5
Love it tiny and perfect for a quick weekend
- 5/5
Worth the value! Clean, great location and looks good
- 5/5
Good stay
- 5/5
The staff and location were excellent!
- 4/5
Nice place with great location.
- 5/5
Clean room, comfy bed
- 5/5
Really nice! The staff was friendly and helpful, walking distance to all major tourist attractions. Highly recommend booking your stay here :)
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 3/5
Lovely hotel but noise levels from air con/ ventilation really let it down
- 4/5
Be prepared for tiny tiny rooms. But clean and comfortable. Staff was excellent.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and nice, the room was clean. Breakfast could improve, but overall I give it a thumbs up! I enjoyed my stay!
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with great staff. We enjoyed pizza and beverages. Room was great for our needs and we’re given a free upgrade without requesting.
- 5/5
Staff was great and room was clean
- 4/5
Room was clean. So very small!
- 5/5
We had a great stay at Hotel Hive. The room while small had everything that we needed and it was spotless! Our favorite part though was the staff!! They were friendly, fun and very accommodating. All were gems!
- 5/5
Overall, a great place to base your visit of DC out of, helpful staff and a great little set of features/amenities to enjoy while you're there.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing and the restaurant was incredibly convenient. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Hotel was great in a great location. Clean and not cookie cutter.
- 4/5
La única queja que tengo es que la cama al tener estructura metálica hace DEMASIADO ruido y es incómodo durante la noche. El resto es muy bueno, la habitación chica pero cómoda.
- 5/5
The beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The hotel was located in a great area. Loved everything about my stay at this hotel.
- 5/5
This has become one of my go-to places whenever I stay in DC. It’s centrally located in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, which is quaint and convenient, with easy access to the Metro. It offers clean, modern, minimalist rooms, even if they’re on the smaller, micro-hotel side. I’ve stayed in larger hotels in DC, but for the value, this remains one of the best options. I’ve tried both the Buzz and Hive room types and the noise levels are similar, with the main difference being room location and windows.
- 4/5
Another good stay at the Hive. Prices were more expensive at all the hotels because of GW family weekend (why we stayed) and a marathon. Staff is wonderful, location is very convenient, and price is fair given the location and timing. Room this time was teeny tiny in contrast to a larger one a few weeks back - literally a bed, bathroom (sink in bedroom) and tiny TV... and given the price (again, higher than normal) I wish we could have had better, but this *is* a micro hotel and it was a convenient location and, given prices for the weekend in larger hotels, the right option.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
All of the staff were outstanding. The room was clean, comfortable and full of natural light. The location was perfect and the ease of coming and going made a stress free experience. If I ever return to D.C. this would be my hotel. Thank you so much and a special shout to Kara.
- 5/5
The room was so nice and clean. We booked an accessible room and me husband was easily able to get around in his wheel chair in the room and bathroom. The staff wentout of our way to make us comfortable. The roof top bar was an added bonus! The only negative is we booked house keeping and they did not come. Everything else was absolutely perfect.
- 5/5
Hotel Hive was perfect for a short stay in Washington, D.C. to see the tourist sites and monuments. We stayed in a Queen Bed (Hive) room, which was just the right size for two people—clean, comfortable, and with a surprisingly spacious bathroom. Despite being in a lively area, we didn’t have any noise issues at all and slept really well. The location couldn’t have been better. The staff were fantastic—really friendly and helpful when we arrived, and they gave us great directions to Georgetown, which is full of excellent restaurants and bars. The hotel bar is super cool too, with a great selection of local beers and creative cocktails (highly recommend the Bee Sting—delicious!). We really enjoyed the whole experience and honestly can’t fault it.
- 5/5
Super helpful, warm and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Clean room. Great location. Friendly and attentive staff.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing!
- 3/5
Our room on the first floor was under the bar and we heard them stacking chairs at 11PM and unstacking chairs at 7AM which made it hard to sleep
- 4/5
The theme was original. Room needs refrigerator, microwave and hooks for towels. Staff was wonderful and helpful. Room did have a musty smell even though very clean. Bar and breakfast very good and priced reasonably.
- 5/5
This is my second stay at Hotel Hive and I chose it again because it's so cute and very convenient. A 15 min metro ride from DCA and the metro is a 5 min walk away from the hotel. The rooms are small, yes, but that's why it's a micro hotel. It still has all the things you need. My only complaint is who decided to put a reading lamp attached to the wall 6 inches out at the HEAD of the bed? I definitely smoked my head off it more than once, which wasn't pleasant. That's my only complaint though, It's a great hotel minus the light situation,

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we return to DC.
- 5/5
Loved the pizza restaurant that was attached to the hotel.
- 5/5
Hotel have is got a fantastic design. Wonderful staff in the location is superb especially visiting George Washington University. I would absolutely stay there again.
- 5/5
Amazing staff and service! I also loved the dine-in options. The hotel location is super convenient; It’s right in the middle of everything.
- 4/5
I eas charged in the property and also in the application. Two different credit cards. We were charged twice for the whole stay. The app was not suposed to charge and it did after we paid at the property..pls help

We loved everything about this hotel from the decor to the amazing staff. It was the perfect hotel for our trip. It was clean, modern, and comfortable. We can’t wait to go back and stay here again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff!
- 5/5
Room was great for the price. Location near GW was perfect. Staff was quite nice. Brought our dog - pet friendly and room was surprisingly allergy-free (allergic to cats). Staying again in a few weeks and would recommend.
- 3/5
The staff were so friendly. Our room was very small though. The sink was in the main room away from the toilet and shower. Not much space for two people- for one though it would be fine. In a great location close to amenities.
- 5/5
Room was comfortable and clean. Amenities were great. Staff was so helpful and kind with everything! Restaurant was delicious and accommodated our party for a graduation celebration. However, they wanted to charge us $25 for bringing in a celebratory cake after we spent hundreds on food and drinks. That was stupid!
- 5/5
Loved everything about this hotel, the location, staff, chic charm vibe
- 5/5
The customer service was outstanding. Very friendly staff
- 5/5
Great location, easy access to metro, DC sight seeing, and great places to eat. Amazing hotel and staff. Loved the vibe. Can’t wait to visit again.
- 5/5
Very clean and friendly staff.
- 3/5
Very clean/nice. Room was ridiculously small. Couldn’t use sink without hitting my head.
- 5/5
Very nice and welcoming
- 5/5
The hotel had a very cool vibe. What made it excellent was the staff. EVERYONE was super friendly, but we especially enjoyed talking with Jess and Oscar at the bar. The Bee Sting drink is too easy to drink! We were able to walk to the National Mall and to our event, which was a big plus. The bed was comfy. Bring earplugs for the street noise. I gave 4 stars for amenities because there's no fridge or microwave, but a desk clerk brought me a mini fridge upon request for our dog's food. It was a really nice experience.
- 5/5
Breakfast was not very good- recommend skipping the breakfast. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
We were upgraded to a king bed although since it's a small room it didn't really make much of a difference in the space. Another downside of the small room -- steam from the shower turned on what I would think is the smoke alarm in our room. Imagine that happening while you're showering. Food choices are not extensive, although they seem to have a full bar. Walking distance to a lot of other restaurants though.
- 5/5
Great location for GW campus and sight seeing in dc
- 5/5
The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is amazing!
- 4/5
Great warm welcome from the reception staff upon arrival. Hotel is well located and parking is just across the street with a discount. Room was small but sufficient, only problem is we had some issues with bugs in the room (from my experience it's the ones in the drains). We came back into the room and they were on the bed and I'm our luggage (just one each time).
- 4/5
Basic. Tini shower. 3 star hotel is it.
- 5/5
Great!
- 3/5
Really great location and great architecture and vibes. The staff was super polite and helpful. Two different times I showered and could not get any hot water - I waited a long time and finally got some “not cold” water. The rooms are also a bit noisy.
- 5/5
The staff is beyond excellent. The rooms are clean but small, but everything you need is available. I just wish I came to DC more often so I could stay here.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly
- 5/5
Clean room. Spacious enough given it was a micro hotel. Amazing staff and customer service. Stayed at Hotel Hive for the DC Half Marathon - 15-20 minute walk to the starting line. Amazing Manor Hill beer on tap. Fantastic rooftop bar and pizza. No complaints.

Hotel Hive is the perfect micro hotel for solo travelers coming to the D.C. area. Hotel staff, Sansa & Max are awesome! They will make sure you are comfortable, welcomed, and have everything you need to enjoy your stay. If you need restaurant recommendations or ideas for activities, they will hook you up! I will definitely stay at Hotel Hive the next time I’m in D.C.
- 5/5
Max and Sania were absolutely terrific! They really wowed the customer! Which is what I always look for. So helpful and took my anticipated stress out of an emergency trip to the passport office in DC.
- 3/5
Our room smelled of mold.
- 5/5
The room was great. The bed was comfortable and the curtains really kept the light out. Lots of outlets which are a necessity these days. Overall it was a great stay. If we’re ever out here again we would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel I’m definitely coming back
- 5/5
Staff was great - rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. New Modern. I loved it. Roof top was amazing.
- 5/5
Great Value with everything at your fingertips!

Modern but historic hotle
- 4/5
The only issue was lack of hot water in the shower for my stay on Friday night and Saturday. When I checked out on Sunday, there was hot water. I understand that issues can happen, other this I would have given an excellent rating. Despite this, I would consider staying here again in the hopes that this problem was isolated.
- 5/5
Amazing stay
- 5/5
Great location, great price. Perfect for one.
- 5/5
Nice atmosphere. Roof top bar.
- 5/5
Bed was not that comfortable, could have gone with a better manufacturer like Winkbed, Leesa, or Saatva. Parking needs to be better explained at check-in with regards to discount ticket - how to use, daily returns to garage, etc. Suggest a handout be created with clear instructions.
- 5/5
The staff was so welcoming and kind, quick to offer upgrades and great advice about the neighborhood. Super convenient to the Metro and GW. The room was adorable and immaculate. This will be my go to hotel in DC for all future stays.
- 3/5
Otherwise the room was functional and easy to access. I am a GWU preceptor and my wife a PHD graduate so it was cool staying in the area and seeing the university changes.
- 4/5
The bed was very comfortable—however, there was a very mildew-y smell in the whole room that detracted from the experience. At first I thought it was because I was on the lower floor but I didn’t notice it in the hallway, just in my room. Also, I didn’t mind the room and bathroom being small but there was no way to shower with the bathroom door open, which made that room stay a little damp.
- 4/5
The rooms are small but for the price it's great when you stay only one night. It is really close to the Washington Mall and the staff is really nice. Would recommend for a short stay.
- 5/5
Very trendy and accommodating.
- 5/5
Great hotel, very eclectic and courteous staff.

It was fine... I
- 4/5
Some good restaurants about a ten minute walk away, conveniently across from GWU. Quiet on the weekends, seems like a business area.
- 5/5
Lovely staff. Coffee available in the morning downstairs. Great location. Room in excellent condition and no issue with bunk beds. They are spacious and sturdy. Loved this place.

Loved it!

This was my husband and my first stay at a micro hotel. This was definitely a gem of a find!! It was perfect for us! We were in town to visit the White House. This place is about a 25 minutes walk to the White House and all of the other attractions. There's also several food options within walking distance. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating! We really only had 2 things that were slightly disappointing. 1 there's no microwave anywhere on the property, we thought maybe they would have one in the lobby? Also there's no coffee makers or mini fridge in the rooms, which was fine for us. But just figured a small coffee pot wouldn't be very hard to pop in the room. All and all we really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would definitely come and stay again!!
- 2/5
Very expensive and photos didn't represent the size of the rooms accurately.
- 4/5
Micro hotel so even though I had a king room there wasn't much space. No closet, storage space, or shelves/counters in the bathroom. Clean, cute hotel tho and I believe Expedia shows this property as having a pool but that's not true.

It’s cool and nice
- 5/5
Comfortable bed, cozy room. Perfect for a traveler who is on the go!
- 5/5
I appreciated the parking garage discount. It was also helpful to have available parking so close to the hotel.
- 4/5
The staff was SO nice! I higly recommend them. It was a bit noisy, but that’s more of a DC thing than a nice hotel thing. I’m not a DC fan, but this hotel is amazing and made me feel better about being there.
- 5/5
Perfect facility and resto-bar
- 5/5
Great, friendly staff!
- 5/5
Great location! 15 minute walk to the Lincoln Memorial.
- 5/5
It is simply the best option when considering the price level and the distance to white house. The room is very clean.
- 5/5
I loved the cozy vibe!!
- 5/5
Beautiful small hotel, very friendly and professional staff and great breakfast!
- 5/5
The stay was great and everyone was so friendly. Property was so beautiful and well kept as well. Definitely recommend, the rooms were also very clean. &pizza was great!
- 5/5
Location was great and walkable to the metro alongside local shops. It was also a very safe area with friendly people, and again walkable to everything we needed like touristy areas! Would highly recommend as a place to stay if you’re looking for convenient, safe, and walkable area that’s close to almost everything!
- 5/5
We’ve stayed at the Hotel Hive many times when our son was in college and then lived in the DC area. This is our favorite hotel in the entire Washington DC because it seems safe and it’s so easy to walk or use lime bikes, etc., and Uber easily picks you up as well. It’s a short distance from Reagan international The staff is friendly and giving I love their flatbed bread pizzas and I love their amazing rooftop bar..
- 5/5
The front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are intimate and comfortable.
- 5/5
The staff are outstanding and so amenable. The rooms are spotless. Cannot recommend this property highly enough!
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice and I would stay here again!
- 5/5
Clean and a cute little hotel
- 5/5
Fun little property. I went for the king size bed/room and it was incredibly spacious. They brought me a small fridge when I asked for it, no charge. Bathroom was small but very cute. Liked the sayings on the wall and mirror. Small, slow-ish elevator but had nice, spacious stairs if you didn't want to wait. Fantastic rooftop bar!
- 5/5
Great hotel. Great area. Wonderful staff who are pmeasant and helpful. This hotel what is what's in walking distance to the mall area and White house. We walked everywhere. This hotel also it has a they're wonderful rooftop bar area. The pizza is delicious!
- 3/5
My daughter and I chose the Hive for a brief stay. I saw the room advertised as simple and clean. That was all we needed for our one night. I did not understand that the Hive has rooms that are quiet and rooms that are closer to the bar and restaurant, making them not quiet. We had unfortunately chosen a room that was “lively”. I always bring ear plugs but the screaming, laughing, and dragging chairs across the floor was difficult to block. We were pretty tired the

Fabulous hotel - so comfortable, friendly and with a great rooftop bar.
- 4/5
Small nice hotel in DC, the staff was friendly and welcoming. Good location to metro, WH and L. Monument.
- 1/5
They put us in a basement room. So noisy outside windows- right on the street and people outside. Water coming into the basement. Never knew there was a basement room.
- 5/5
amazing overall experience, friendly and helpful staff, great food at the bar, great atmosphere, and conveniently located nearby the foggy bottom metro and the national mall
- 5/5
We booked the Hive to attend a function at the Kennedy Center and it was just perfect. Perfect location, accommodations, Staff and even food (we ate their pizzas and breakfast). Excellent place and we'll return!!!
- 5/5
The staff is just amazing!
- 5/5
Excellent hotel for the price. Clean, modern and really friendly and accommodating staff. Can’t ask for a better location - right in the heart of DC (basically In the GWU campus), walkable to the national mall and to the subway station.

Easy access from Foggy Bottom metro. Lots of dining options within walking distance. Also easy walks to Kennedy Center and Lincoln Memorial. Didn’t get a chance to try the rooftop bar, but will next time. Rooms were nice, with European duvets instead of traditional sheet sets.
- 5/5
This hotel has amazing service. It has a super happy vibe. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very clean. The Hive bar and the roof top bar were also an added plus. I honestly have never been as happy at a chain hotel as I was here. The location is on George Washington University Campus. Close to all the history sites in DC. Vibrant, a very added delight to our trip.
- 5/5
Super cute, friendly staff, and really safe and walkable. I had a great experience there.
- 5/5
Very helpful staff
- 4/5
Property location was fantastic, a walm welcome and good reception areas. We knew the rooms would be small but was a bit taken aback how small not helped by a noisy neighbour.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and close to foggy bottom metro stop. 11 min walk to Lincoln memorial and 20 to Georgetown
- 5/5
It is a unique building in an excellent location. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and patient. We had several questions and the staff took the time to answer them. Special shout out to Rhea for help assisting us with our gps on our I-phone. Highly reccommend this hotel for it's location to the Mall, and Monuments and Georgetown.
- 5/5
It is also close to the metro and the parking deck!
- 5/5
Obviously a historic building with beautiful brick which they have restored into what I would call modern chic. The staff is outstanding, as well as the onsite pizza restaurant and rooftop bar :-)
