Reviews
The hotel is generally well-received for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and excellent location, with many attractions within walking distance. The staff is frequently praised for their helpfulness and friendliness. However, some guests have issues with the parking arrangements and costs, and a few have experienced problems with the room temperature controls and water pressure.
- Excellent location with many attractions within walking distance
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Parking arrangements and costs can be an issue
- Room temperature controls and water pressure can be problematic

Staff was very helpful, especially with parking, which was otherwise difficult to find
- 5/5
The staff was excellent and attentive to all our needs. It is a plus that they give you some complimentary water bottles but we requested more and they came with more water right away! The mini kitchen is well equipped with plates, and glasses and cups. A toaster and a coffee machine excellent choices. Big fridge and the gas stove to cook our foods was a must!
- 5/5
One of my employees got stuck at the DCA airport and I booked this as a last-minute reservation. She was so happy. Said it was clean so spacious felt like her own amazing apartment definitely putting this on our repeat booking list
- 3/5
Need upgrade on furniture and TV
- 5/5
It is in very central location. They have two entrances. There are some spots in front of the entrances that you can park while bringing your luggage up. The room was clean and spacious. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Our stay at the state plaza was good. It was a 10 minute walk to the Lincoln memorial. Rooms were clean but a bit outdated. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant food was ok staff at restaurant wasn’t really attentive. But overall enjoyed our stay here.

Thank you for the early check-in! Great hotel and location. room was exceptional and had the old school personal touches. Bathroom was wonderful, best shower I have taken in a hotel in a very long time. Will stay here again.
- 4.5/5
Location and amazing price Nothing it was great
- 5/5
The staff always made time to politely answer our questions. Our room was very spacious, and we were pleasantly surprised to have a "dressing room" and a fully equipped kitchenette!! My absolute ONLY suggestion is to provide ONE more waste can and ONE more tissue box.

Friendly staff, location location.

Close to things, easy to get where you want to go, the room was very spacious, great view
- 4/5
Nice hotel. The only issue I had was the housekeeping knocked on the door once and walked right in! Once I was laying in bed in my pjs! She did this twice and then when I tried to explain we didnt need housekeeping she couldn't understand me because she didnt speak English. Other than that we had a nice stay.
- 4/5
It was ok overall. Location was the best.

- 5/5
Perfect location, helpful staff, lean and well-maintained rooms. Price is reasonable. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
I emailed there accountant to help change my payment card and got no response at all.
- 5/5
The hotel is located in a very calm neighbohood where is possible to go to several points very fast. The room is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen available is complete and very good to those who want to prepare something by themselves. Considering that the hotel has two different buildings (connected one to the other) we faced some difficulties to find our room in one situation. We spend some minutes before understanding the reason of our confusion. No big deal but I believe they should explain it to the customers when they arrive.
- 5/5
Everything plus the location was great.

The staff was excellent, helpful and very friendly. The location was great access many of the attractions. The rooms was very spacious. Only downside is that the finishes were fairly dated (not a big deal to me) and TVs were older and unable to stream smart TV apps.
- 5/5

The location was central to what we were doing. The metro very close if needed. The kitchen was terrific. It gave us options to eat breakfast in. The room was always clean, spotless. The internet was a bit spotty. Could be more consistent.

This is a little gem tucked away near GWU. You can tell it's an older property but it kind of adds to the charm. It was pretty noisy though with our side of the hotel backing the trash alley so we heard trucks coming and going. Nice place to stay if you will be in town for a while since the room had a little mini kitchen complete with a table and chairs and things you'd need to cook simple meals.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing....Excellent location. Highly recommend.

최신 건축 호텔이 좋아요 그러면 시설과 조건이 훌륭해요.

Very nice. Exceeded expectations
- 3/5
Overall good however miggt not stay there agaim due the smell.... I only stayed one night.
- 5/5
Staff were incredible. So helpful and nice. Rooms were spacious and perfect for us and our 3 young kids. Highly recommend
- 4/5
Great location Shampoo & conditioner in very tiny tubes. We had 3 people in our room, not enough & then not replaced the next day. We had a very expensive, mediocre at best breakfast in the cafe.
- 5/5
Property had a great location. There was some construction on a neighboring property but not the fault of the hotel. The restaurant food was delicious. We were able to walk to attractions from the hotel
- 5/5
I had a bad experience reserving on the hotel website. The organization that answers the phone did not find my reservation confirmation number, neither did a very unpleasant employee at the hotel. Then I turned to Expedia. Before leaving my city, I called the hotel to ask for a walk-in shower, and then I related my previous experience to an extremely nice employee call Kri She understood what had happened because i n fact ,I did have two reservations! She apologized and upgraded my room. The hotel is not brand new and walk-in showers exist only in "accessible suites." Reserve with Expedia! No surprises and efficient reservations.
- 5/5
Very clean hotel, loved the in-room kitchen and table. Extremely helpful staff.
- 2/5
Staff was so nice and helpful.
- 5/5
Safe, quiet, and clean. No troubles, no worries!
- 4/5
Everything was going great until, one of your staff a “lady, that’s worked on the back side of the hotel, did not allow me access to the hotel stating that room 309 does not exist. To the point of having someone follow me and speaking on walk-in talk to the gentleman. Very unprofessional
- 4/5
The room was clean and have no complaints. The hotel is a bit outdated but you can see staff is taking good care to keep it clean. Kitchenette was a plus.
- 3/5
We had several issues during our stay. Two burners on the stove were not working, and the microwave was locked; I had to unplug it from the wall to reset it. The bathroom sink and the bathtub drain were clogged, so I had to call for maintenance to have them cleared. There was also a lot of noise in the hallways at night.
- 5/5
Staff was great. Had a awesome time in Washington then got back after a long day out and the bed was so comfy. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Old style, very well maintained.
- 5/5
很现代,空间极小!
- 5/5
When we come to DC this is where we always stay. The location is great and it’s a wonderful hotel.
- 3/5
First night's room adjacent to a massive construction project with work starting at 7:00 AM. Avoid rooms in 6th St. tower. Heating system unable to warm room above 69'
- 5/5
Prime location near GW. Walkable to restaurants and stores. Plenty of room.
- 2/5
Where to begin... Pickup/dropoff was difficult because only short spans of street parking are available for unloading. Narrow elevators and corridors. The worst part was that I was told to park in a spot in the back of a parking garage a half block away (the bellhop guided me into that spot) only to find out two days later at check-out that I could not leave because the car was buried behind many other stacked cars. Eventually got it out. The hotel tried to blame me saying that they had left a note informing me that I could move my car, but I was out with family and did not see the note until the next day. The many stairs make wheelchair access a formidable challenge. They didn't even have ice machines on our floor. The rooms felt of Soviet-era Volgograd. It's really two buildings so to get things or go to spaces like the gym or restaurant you have to keep crossing back to the other. Elevators are slow and only on one end of the building. Many of the employees tried to be helpful, but this trip seemed doomed from the start. Far from the upscale experience it had been billed to be.
- 2/5
Very small bathroom Large room but without light because it's semi-basement, even on the 3rd floor
- 2/5
It is not a hotel / nor are suites as presented in the traditional sense. The rooms are more efficiency units largely designed for families. The lobby is worn and the staff is catering to a different crowd. Not quite the boutique they market it as. Be weary. Not a hotel and no real hotel services or housekeeping.
- 5/5
Great location for tourist sites. Helpful staff. Will stay there again. Room immaculate.
- 5/5
Convenient breakfast
- 5/5
State plaza has always been a clean, easy check in and out with friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend if staying in DC. Also had a kitchen which is an added bonus.
- 5/5
Great hotel with clean spacious rooms. Welcoming staff and overall very impressed.
- 5/5
Helpful staff and very accommodating staff
- 5/5
The property manager greeted us in a very warm welcome!
- 5/5
By far one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at! The room was spacious and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The check-in process was effortless. They were very helpful with recommendations about venues to eat. Laura was very helpful. An overall positive experience. I highly recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
This is a nice place, where I have stayed often. It's not particularly fancy or modern (it's two converted apartment buildings), but it's bright, it's clean, it's well located, it's quiet, the staff is friendly, the restaurant is good, the bartender is friendly ...
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Big suite.
- 5/5
Very large, very clean comfortable room. Friendly, helpful staff. Very convenient location.
- 5/5
Very clean friendly staff and parking available on site
- 4/5
This hotel is made up of 2 buildings that look exactly alike inside, but different room numbers. We got turned around the first night and went to the wrong building after dinner. We were confused. We returned to the front desk and got it figured out. The staff was very nice but not very forthcoming with information. We had to ask where the restaurant was. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great.
- 5/5
The State Plaza Hotel was comfortable, clean, and the staff was kind and responsive. The location was perfect! I'll be back!
- 3/5
TV’s are garbage. Rooms are a bit worn and unclean. Disappointed.

Very nice hotel . Walking distance to a lot of the sites was easy . Great Location
- 5/5
Lovely room | helpful, friendly staff | great location
- 5/5
Great place to stay I was in town for a race and needed to be close to the park it was perfect! Definitely will probably stay there again next year for the race again!
- 5/5
This hotel was just perfect for visiting GW University.
- 5/5
Large room with a separate kitchen & dining area and sitting area. It was extremely clean and comfortable. This was my second stay and I would stay again.
- 4/5
Was a nice hotel for the city. Quiet
- 5/5
Clean room, full kitchen, and nice staff.
- 3/5
Restaurant was good and the security and parking was good
- 4/5
The elevators were card controlled for extra security The general location near GWU was a good area for walks The security box in the room was larger than most hotels offer. The TV needs to be replaced. The picture was faded and the screen was small
- 5/5
Nice little bar and restaurant with good food.
- 5/5
The rooms are clean, Spacious and they have also provided kitchen utilities. Perfect options like a studio apartment. Good option for family with kids to cook there own food. 5/5 stars. Will book again for next time
- 4/5
Great location. Hotel was a bit dated. However, the kitchen and bathroom / vanity area was a nice surprise, very spacious for myself, husband and 14 yr old daughter. The "restaurant" was a bit odd seemed to be in basement location - bar area was a bit sad as well. Staff was overall very nice.
- 4/5
Excellent location near the Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, Vietnam memorials and others like the Smithsonian, White House, National Gallery etc. Great staff, Few nits - no way to adjust the temp in the room, TV didn't work, breakfast at the Garden Cafe took forever - at one point got up and offered to get my own water since nothing at all was forthcoming - no water, no coffee, no breakfast in sight.
- 4/5
This was a very quiet and clean hotel. Nothing fancy, a little dated, and seemed more like a place for people coming to work and stay a few days than if you're a tourist wanting to have a more upscale experience. There isn't a bar in the hotel so you'll need to venture to find one so there isn't a hang-out and chill vibe in the lobby, it's just get in and out. The staff were very nice and it's a convenient location to get all around the city.
- 4/5
It was good. Expensive but nice. I thought it had breakfast included but no...
- 5/5
Room with kitchen was really good
- 4/5
This was a nice but dated property. We were in the “second building” that was last renovated in 2013 we were told. The website photos are accurate; however, they do not show how dated the interiors are. Everything was clean and worked properly. The staff is exceptionally helpful. The location is the best reason to stay there. It is situated next to the university and within walking distance of the White House, Metro, and National Mall.
- 4/5
Overall great stay
- 5/5
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Immediate response when we called for a burnt-out light bulb. Room was well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good.
- 5/5
Great stay! Staff was terrific. The room was kept nice. Only complaint is a/c wasn’t working in the living room area.
- 4/5
Great location. Nothing fancy, but convenient.
- 5/5
It’s only a short walking distance to most major attraction,Tibet Basin, the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King. Room was very large and have separate bathroom kitchen and big refrigerator staff very friendly and helpful when you asking for information they go out of their way to help you. Everything is excellent and I would come back again next year and recommend it for friend.
- 5/5
Great hotel spot for a quick dc trip.
- 3/5
Overall was a fine stay. Wouldn’t recommend for the price - could have stayed closer to activities for $100 cheaper when I looked during our stay
- 5/5
We weren't able to park at the hotel as there were no spaces so they sent us across the road to a 24hr garage. All was good there, easy to find. Hotel was central for our needs, we saw a show at DAR so about a 10 minute walk. Food options close by were limited but we found the market a few blocks away and there were plenty of options in there.
- 4/5
Room was very clean and comfortable
- 4/5
We were visiting a family member at GW and the location was perfect. Parking is pricey but we were so happy to get a spot in the garage. The one problem is there is construction behind the hotel so there was early morning drilling taking place behind our room.
- 5/5
Central location for sightseeing. Friendly staff. Didn't use restaurant so can't comment on it
- 3/5
Loved the room at first. It was like a small apartment. Good location and very comfy. We left for a few hours. Where we returned our room was 85 degrees! Like a sauna! The heat was turned on full blast throughout the building. The front desk apologized, but said there was nothing they could do. We slept, sweating, with the windows open. Not acceptable.
- 5/5
Staff was helpful, in particular Miguel. Room was spacious and clean.
- 3/5
All good
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff, great location
- 5/5
Clean hotel
- 4/5
I have a student at GWU, so this location is extremely convenient for spending time with your student. The rooms are clean and spacious, housekeeping arrives every day around 9am with fresh towels and lotions. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful, and the door/bell personnel are very nice. I have absolutely no complaints with the property itself. I stay here every time I come to see my daughter. The absolute truth is that this hotel is on a college campus around the corner from fraternity row, so expect loud music, screaming and sirens on Friday/Saturday nights until about 11:30pm. Don’t expect to sleep until well after that. Otherwise, great property.
- 4/5
Very clean lobby and nice staff.
- 1/5
We had small ants coming out of the bathroom mirror. They were all over the vanity when we got back to the room after touring DC. We called the front desk they sent maintenance up who stated it’s only ants. Like it wasn’t a big deal. They front staff was very accommodating they changed our room. The hotel was overall nice but you can tell it isn’t maintenanced properly
- 3/5
Front desk staff was nice.
- 3/5
Okay place to stay
- 5/5
Excelente buena ubicación y atención
- 3/5
The hotel location is great, the rooms were comfortable, the only thing is that we saw a roach on the carpet, but forgot to report it next day.
- 5/5
Stay was pleasant. All staff were amazing bartender in the cafe was great and very helpful with choices.
- 5/5
Just one night, but we had a nice stay. Rooms nice and spacious.
- 5/5
Clean convenient, staffnice
- 5/5
Room was very large. Bed was comfortable
- 5/5
Having stayed just one night for an event it was a great stay. Very clean, spacious room. Convenient location for our event. Parking at a near by garage was safe and easy.
- 5/5
This hotel has a great location. My room was super clean with great bed linens and fluffy towels. There is a small kitchen that I did not use but it was lovely. My king size bed was very comfortable. I would stay again.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Very good location if you have a kid going to GW. Only problem is the internet is painfully slow.
- 5/5
The housekeeping service here was incredible! Truly felt amazing to come back, after a very long day of walking, to a clean room, fresh towels and bed full turndown service. We loved having a small kitchen available!
- 1/5
First time traveling to Washington with my family and staying in this hotel. When I checked in, the female employee's unkindness and discrimination made my experience in Washington worse. I asked for a parking lot, and she replied very unkindly that there was no parking. Then she asked me to tell her where to park my car because I parked it in front of the hotel, but she answered very unkindly and curtly. Then when Mae parked her car in the hotel parking space again, she answered us with very unkind words and actions, saying, "Why did you park there, check-in first, put your car in." My experience in Washington was the worst. She didn't have a hotel..
- 4/5
Yes, if you are into decor this place could really use a refresh but it’s clean, safe, with friendly staff and conveniently located next to GW.
- 4/5
My suite was surprisingly equipped fully with a kitchen, thus allowing me to provide for my own breakfast this morning.
- 4/5
Everyone was very nice at the hotel. There is a construction right across from our room that no one warned us about, so that was kind of a rude and early awakening. Bring your own shampoos since the quality of the ones in the room was not great! Oh and the TV had a really awful picture, like the resolution was off and we couldn’t get it to be more normal looking. Otherwise, the location is great, walking distance to everything. Oh, and a really nice touch to have water bottles in the room,I truly appreciated that!! The room is very spacious, really nice kitchen with everything you need. All in all, I would stay there again.
- 4/5
Our maid service was excellent. The staff was always responsive to anything we needed. Bed was extremely comfortable!
- 5/5
staffs are very kind. and perfect location.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Awsome hotel , room was cleaned , staff was super friendly. It was our 2nd time at this hotel. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Staff friendly. Walking distance to museums and national monument
- 5/5
The room was spotless and clean, everything was in great working order, and the staff was friendly. I will stay here again for any trips to there DC area.
- 4/5
No parking lot
- 5/5
Beautiful room. Super friendly staff and easy parking/loading luggage.
- 5/5
Very clean, close to GW and National Mall - terrific!
- 5/5
All good
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful, which was great because I was so confused about parking and bags and such. The parking is the only not-5- star aspect. I got there somewhat late (8pm) and the only parking was in an over flow garage around the corner and down the street. The next morning, however, an onsite spot became available, and the onsite parking was super easy. Parking was a bit pricey, at $50 per night. The room was super clean, the bathroom spotless, with a room outside the bath area to sit and do makeup, or get dressed. The beds and pillows were fluffy and comfortable. The water pressure wasn't awesome, but the water was nice and hot. The little kitchen room has quite a lot of space. The refrigerator is full size, there was a gas stovetop with a tea kettle, a microwave, and of course, a coffee maker. It was stocked with Utensils, plates and bowls. We couldn't figure out how to stream to the TV, which it's possible that was not an option, because it was slightly dated. But we weren't there for the TV. The less than a mile walk to Constitution avenue and Smithsonian museums was a stellar reason to book this hotel. They even loaned us umbrellas for the rainy day.
- 4/5
Close to the Neteo
- 4/5
The room was clean and comfortable but the air conditioning was difficult to figure out. A tech had to come to the room to show us or reset the system. They also have on site parking but charge for it ($50 per night)
- 5/5
The gym was good.
- 5/5
Location was the BEST. Hotel was clean, staff friendly and parking too. If ever in town again I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to everyone!
- 5/5
This hotel is located in good spot for do sightseeing.
- 5/5
Only 2 staff at the restaurant. They were pretty busy but did their best to get the job done! Very nice hotel, clean and accessible to almost everything. Walkable to the White House, Museums and restaurants. Very safe area too.
- 5/5
Location is perfect to museums, metro, food and market
- 5/5
Clean, great location, and yummy restaurant
- 5/5
Clean room with kitchen .
- 5/5
Breakfast was slow in coming
- 4/5
This is not our first visit. It never disappoints me: clean, quiet, and safe.
- 4/5
Older building but in good condition. Minimal on site parking at high rates compared to garages in the area.
- 5/5
It’s was good
- 5/5
Friendly staff. I arrived earlier and the lady helped me to check in earlier.
- 5/5
we ordered for breakfast the smoked salmon with cream cheese on a bagel and unfortunately the bagel had a bit of mold on it and the smoked salmon had a dark color instead of the fresh salmon color. Parking spaces are limited so we had to park in a garage that was a 10 min walk. Every thing else was excellent!!!!
- 5/5
We loved this hotel. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly and location was amazing and quiet. Felt very safe and relaxed.
- 4/5
Was not impressed with breakfast at the hotel. The food was ok and it took in my opinion a long time for what we ordered ( fruit bowl, toast, eggs and home fries). The parking at the hotel that was not free was in my opinion worth it. Didn't have to worry about trying to find parking on the street and it was in a safe garage that was easy to get in and out of.
- 5/5
Very clean, convenient, and full kitchen, full closet, and vanity room outside of bathroom.
- 5/5
Great location. All major attractions are wilthin walk distance.
- 5/5
Room
- 4/5
parking was secure. A little weird you have to walk up steps to get to the elevator. nice staff. very helpful.
- 5/5
Parking was great. Limited but understandable considering the location. Staff was amazing and the suite was perfect for my husband and myself with our 4 year old toddler in tow. Easy walk to the university or to national monuments.
- 2/5
No parking ! We had to parking 4 blocks away! He lied and said we could park next door! They closed at 6 and no over night parking!
- 2/5
There was no heat in the room; in fact, there was no heat in the hotel. They had decided to turn the heat off because there had been a 70 degree day earlier in the week - and when it dropped back down to 40 the neglected to turn it back on. My family was absolutely freezing. I gave them one extra star simply because the on-site staff tried what they could to help. But short of a management decision to turn the heat back on there wasn't much they could do. I am considering reporting the hotel as they have a legal obligation to maintain a minimum temperature and they failed to even come close.
- 5/5
This was the perfect location for sightseeing around the white house, the monuments, the mall. The northwest DC location was very convenient for visiting family in the silver spring area. It is an individual style, not chain style hotel, the rooms were suites with a kitchen area, the breakfast was very nice as a treat the last day, parking was fairly easy on the weekends and weekdays the on site garage is worth the price.
- 5/5
Great location, clean, and friendly staff!
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff, close proximity to GW, love staying here!
- 5/5
Room was spotless. Spacious. Everything imaginable in the room. I like soft and less loft in my pillows. I bring my own. A handle came off the door, and within hours, it was fixed perfectly. Everyone was gracious, Front Desk, Bellman. One suggestion: leave at the counter some short lists of eateries nearby that are upper end and middle. And convenience stores to get sodas and chips, and alcohol for those who drink
- 5/5
The room was spotless and was perfect. There was a small kitchen that was stocked with equipment which I didn't need. The beds were comfortable and firm. Make sure you reserve a parking spot in the basement if you have a car.
- 5/5
Clean, updated room with a good shower, comfy bed, and attentive housekeeping. Friendly service all around. Great home base for a long weekend enjoying DC. Would stay here again!
- 1/5
One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in- small, cramped, old room. AC wouldn’t work it only blew hot air and was controlled by some kind of analog thermostat that I’ve never seen before. Desk was falling apart. The bathroom flooded when I took a shower, ice had no bags, tv was tiny. Had handyman come up to look at ac, he thought he was there to fix a light when I told him it was the ac, he just cracked the window and left. Old, dingy, weird room. I left after the first night and got a room at the Marriott down the street, that was a great stay, I recommend them.
- 5/5
真的很好
- 5/5
Appreciate how clean everything was and peaceful. Thank you!
- 5/5
I was very happy with the cleanliness of the property and the rooms, but what really stood out is the size of the rooms each having a small kitchen area. This hotel is an excellent value and conveniently located to nearby schools and attractions. We would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Clean and spacious. Sufficient for a business trip. Was a bit bummed that the restaurant was closed, specifically since there isn’t really anything around the area to walk to as far as restaurants are concerned.
- 4/5
Clean room and amenities!
- 2/5
The hotel and especially rooms need huge renovations to update. Musty smells. No A/C option. When the fan is on, only blows hot air. We had to open a window to cool the room. No hair dryer available. Breakfast was very overpriced. To get into the parking garage, you have to call the hotel and wait for someone to open the garage door. For the price of this hotel, it was not worth it!
- 5/5
Greeted by a friendly hotel front desk staff, The room was nice and spacious
- 5/5
Surprisingly spacious room with kitchen, dining nook and sitting areas. Staff very personable and helpful.
- 4/5
The rooms were very clean and bright! The only negative was the room doesn’t have a fridge or and microwave. Other than that we enjoyed the 4 days we stayed there!
- 4/5
The room was nice. The beds were comfortable. The staff was courteous.
- 5/5
Staff was extremely nice and friendly. The room was really clean.
- 5/5
Very clean, loved the space in the room and enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
Room very clean and spacious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant’s food very good and the staff super friendly
- 5/5
The room was spotless, the staff was stellar, their customer service was amazing, the experience exceeded my expectations 👏
- 5/5
Staff was so friendly and helpful, easy check in, clean rooms and the beds are SO COMFY! Thank you for everything! :)
- 5/5
Hotel was very clean and fresh. the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Would stay there again.

The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. Great value for the price and location
- 3/5
The hotel staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, the hotel itself is in a convenient location. This is a good spot if you are looking for something affordable and close to the sites. But the bathrooms are in need of ventilation, as the entire room drips water everywhere when you take a shower and the door is rotting from it. The room is dated and the tv was so old you almost couldnt see the picture on it. The bed is also super uncomfortable. But its a clean and affordable and convenient place to be for a weekend.
- 4/5
The room was very clean and well appointed, close to the mall and Kennedy Center. Will definitely stay here again. Only disappointment was choppy wifi.
- 5/5
The room was great and the hosts were excellent. My only suggestion would be to allow a designated smoking area on the backside of the building for medical patients. While it’s not always easy to know who is or isn’t a medical cannabis cardholder, having a smoke-friendly option could really add to the comfort of guests’ stay. Just some friendly feedback.
- 5/5
My stay at the State Plaza Hotel was amazing. The staff were great, very nice! My party arrived in Washington DC early morning, we were able to receive any early check-in. The room was clean, and we loved the way it was designed. We typically look for accommodations that have a kitchen setup. The kitchen space has doors, which keeps the sleeping area separated. Nice touch! Will definitely book again, if ever I am in Washington DC.
- 5/5
The staff was so kind and friendly the manager was excellent. Craig got me a refund for my staff when we had to leave early due the snowstorm was in Washington DC. The room was really nice and clean. I didn’t like the complementary breakfast. It was open and guest was just touching food with out utensils. I didn’t find that sanitary so I didn’t eat anything.
- 4/5
Spacious suite, great location
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay here very much! Great service!
- 5/5
Fine hotel, friendly staff and good water pressure in the shower ☺️
- 5/5
Very nice room with comfy king bed and desk and kitchen. Clean and efficient. Nice staff. Continental breakfast. Very reasonable price. Parking is expensive but we were able to find street parking (for free because it was a weekend and holiday). Best of all, location is fabulous walkable distance to the mall and museums
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and courteous
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and functional, and the bedding was of excellent quality, ensuring a very comfortable night’s sleep. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and dedicated, which truly made our stay even more enjoyable. We really appreciated our time here, and the complimentary breakfast was a great added bonus. We would happily stay here again!
- 2/5
Really horrible service / front desk staff.
- 5/5
Nice stay with no issues. Nice staff. Rooms are spacious and the have a whole kitchen room
- 5/5
Very nice room, with a classic feel. Parking isn't the best. I got lucky, it was a holiday so parking was free a couple blocks over, otherwise the only options are 50$ a night.

Yes very good 👍
- 5/5
Great stay. Good location within walking distance of national mall.

Location
- 4/5
This was a nice hotel. The rooms were large and staff was attentive.
- 5/5
Clean rooms, good service
- 2/5
The pillows were too bulky. Didn’t get proper sleep.
- 4/5
Perfectly located for business or sight-seeing. Huge rooms and wonderful staff. Not the fanciest place, but a great value.
- 5/5
My stay was good and the staff was so welcoming!!
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Clean and quite
- 5/5
very comfortable with a personable staff.
- 5/5
All of the above
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable room. Excellent customer service
- 4/5
Courteous and helpful staff. Nice facility.
- 5/5
Staff was great cleanliness was great. Stay was wonderful.
- 5/5
clean room, amenities
- 3/5
Room had a musky stale smell. It was so hot also. Alli’s no water pressure and no lighting. Bed was comfy though!
- 5/5
Un hôtel parfait pour trois jours de séminaire à GWU. Merci aux membres du personnel, souriants et efficaces!
- 5/5
The room is spacious and the attached kitchen is really everything that you could need- counter, sink, burners, cabinets. Certainly more than I needed for a 1 night stay, but this would be perfect for a multi night stay. Well located within 10 minute walk to key downtown elements and the metro.
- 5/5
helpful staff, lovely room
- 5/5
Amazing place
- 2/5
There are zero amenities. Because it was getting closer to winter they switched the entire building to heat.
- 5/5
Clean room, great location - close to main attractions
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable and convenient
- 5/5
Seems the rooms were also recently remodeled. The room was wonderful! Nice and clean and spacious. Beds were comfy, we slept great! The hot water was HOT quick and the room was pretty quiet. We happened to get a kitchenette, didn't expect it, and it would be perfect for longer stays. Location - we saw the Washington Monument out our window! So we knew the tourist spots were close - 1/2 mile away. Easily walkable. All in all, a wonderful visit and we hope to return and stay at this hotel again.
- 4/5
Rooms are spacious and clean, the Lindt suite has a kitchen and space to relax and work. All walkable to tourist sites and good restaurants. Check-in was a bit challenging w an Expedia issue, and I will say the breakfast was disappointing, mini muffins and coffee do not replace the restaurant being closed. It is also a bit disruptive to hear every door close on your hall, and I mean every. But the rooms are nice and it’s affordable. So there is a balance
- 5/5
Nice staff. Solid room.
- 5/5
Staff was great! Bed was comfortable and rooms were nice
- 3/5
Does have a nice kitchen, stove, fridge, if you need those things. Food around the area is so-so, better to walk 15-20 minutes to better options. Close to the national mall bht because of the cost of the parking I chose to move my car to the JFK parking garage (which is a closer walk and half the price for just as secure). I don't know who this hotel is for. For the people wanting to stay a long time, it is too expensive, for those staying a short time there are better more convenient options elsewhere that are just as close to things. The staff is nice, and the building is clean, but that should just be true anywhere you go and doesn't win any stars.
- 5/5
Nice room. Large and clean
- 4/5
great location, quiet. Loved the spaciousness in the room and that the bathroom bedroom and kitchen were separate. The bed was comfy. I was a bit disappointed about the dining and gym being closed for repair. I normally choose a hotel with gym for a quick daily work out and would have loved to be able to have a quite bite to eat before heading out for the day. Staff is great and very friendly. All in all, I will likely stay again!
- 5/5
모두 좋았음
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay. Would definitely go back and highly recommend. Very nice staff.
- 4/5
The location of the property was very convenient to all that DC had to offer. We walked to most of the sites in town.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Extremely clean and all the staff was so kind. I was shocked when we arrived to find a kitchen in our room with a full fridge. I didn’t even realize! It is about 8-10 min walk to the Foggy Bottom metro stop. Very safe area. My only complaint was it did get warm in the rooms with no alternative. The hotel is all on one air unit.
- 5/5
The room seemed very clean, and the room was huge with a lovely kitchenette. (Not sure if all come with that.) The staff went above and beyond to address problems. The manager even called to discuss a concern of mine. The location is superb if you're doing events at the Kennedy Center and GWU.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. The staff was fantastic!
- 5/5
The hotel is situated close to the White house, Roosevelt Memorial , Museums and Public Buildings an Parks, either, to the Potomac river.
- 5/5
The hotel and staff were outstanding in every way. Room was very spacious with a full kitchen and very comfortable beds. Staff was superb. Very attentive and helpful. Location was perfect for access to the Metro line, National Mall, and several eateries. Beautiful walkable area on the edge of Washington University. Felt very safe inside and outside the hotel. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
Perfect option in DC! Close to memorials, easy access to transportation. Clean large rooms. Staff was exceptional! Simple grab and go breakfast due to xonstrution
- 5/5
Excellent room and facilities.. great location and staff
- 4/5
Super confusing to find, park and check-in. Otherwise nice place.
- 2/5
Over all, alright if you’re in a bind but wouldn’t stay again. Old building, it has one system for heating and cooling throughout the building, which was the biggest blunder for me. Had to call and put a fan in the window to cool the room. Second big hit was the old TV where you had about 60 channels and you just had to pick something that was on. Had to go out and buy and HDMI cord to connect to my laptop. Good water pressure all round but the shower didn’t have good drainage, was standing ankle deep in water. The kitchen was nice and unique, something you don’t usually see in hotels these days and over all cleanliness was good.
- 5/5
Very pleased with the State Plaza Hotel. The hotel is in a nice area less than 20 minutes from Reagan Airport and a lot of the monuments and museums. The rooms are nice and roomy and very clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived early and were still able to check-in. Parking is almost $50/night though so I recommend public transportation or uber since it’s in close proximity to a lot of places.
- 5/5
Even though the hotel is old, it is very well maintained. The room is large with a separate kitchen area. Great for families. The staff is very helpful. Would love to stay here again.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly. Nice location and close to landmarks The kitchen was a plus!
- 5/5
Large and clean rooms. Two areas for improvement-the Tv is tiny and the bathroom could use some updating-i.e. replace the old bathroom door with peeling paint and deteriorating wood. Staff and housekeeping were great.
- 5/5
Great staff -- helpful, friendly. Also great location for sightseeing. Room was clean, beds and pillows comfy. Loved having a little kitchen.
- 4/5
The staff were amazing. We felt valued. We also loved the security in the building. The only thing that was not super was that some things in the room didn’t work well. The desk lamp nearly burned up our charge cable. The only place to access for charging was the kitchen and the lamp on the desk.
- 4/5
Clean room friendly staff
- 5/5
The staff was excellent, the room was super clean, the bed, pillows, were comfortable, best sleep ever, the food was good, tasted fresh, close to everything, and we enjoyed our stay. We will return.
- 5/5
Hotel and staff were great! My only complaint would be the prices in the hotel restaurant. Way to high
- 5/5
Clean, spacious room, nice staff.
- 5/5
Above average
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, wonderful staff, great location!
- 4/5
Nice large, clean room, and great location for that part of DC.
- 3/5
Would be happy to return again. On flip side please get new digital TV's. Your's was way too old. Come On State Plaza. Let's update small things. Same with frosted window doors into bathrooms. Lights go on and light up a room when others are sleeping. That makes no sense....
- 5/5
Excellent drawer space. Spacious recommendations with good separation of the kitchen area from the bath area with both being adjacent to the bedroom area.
- 5/5
Large rooms, nice building, great location
- 2/5
Great location. Friendly and helpful front desk. Rooms were large and well-equipped with kitchen and seating but outdated. Shower was clogged so we stood in 4 in. of water and the AC blew out hot air instead of cold so we couldn't sleep.
- 5/5
Excellent location! We were there for GW's family weekend and you can't beat this location. And the room was very comfortable - great bed and spacious room. We love staying here.
- 3/5
The staff is nice. Ou room was at the first floor, It was noisy around ou room.
- 4/5
Very nice accommodations and good location.
- 5/5
Excellent location with access to both E and F Streets. Furnishings show their age but still are comfortable. Roomy accommodations with separate kitchenette and dressing room adjacent to bathroom.
- 5/5
Customer service was amazing!!!
- 5/5
Convenient location in DC near the mall and GWU. Comfortable bed. So much so that I wanted to bring it home with me!! We had a kitchenette and all the supplies we needed in order to cook. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I will visit here again.
- 5/5
The staff was very accommodating and professional.
- 4/5
Love the spacious room with kitchen and living space. Staff were all so accommodating and kind. Everything we wanted to do was walking distance. Very clean however there was a musty smell, we bought room spray and that helped.
- 5/5
Great stuff, comfy bed and great location.
- 5/5
Nice sized room with large bathroom and 2 closets and a makeup vanity that was perfect.
- 5/5
Would return.
- 5/5
Wonderful visit... Great hotel!
- 5/5
Stayed here for a conference at Kennedy Center. Very walkable, enjoyed walking through GW University.
- 3/5
No bar, no food, no vending machines, 32 inch tv with analog and granulated screen. No ice machine, no stamps. $50 a day for parking. AC was very low and no regulator to turn it up.
- 5/5
great hotel --i had to go to passport office and it was an easy walk.. will be back. staff very friendly
- 4/5
Very well equipped and nice rooms
- 4/5
Refrigerator would be a nice add
- 5/5
I was pleasantly surprised. I selected it based on location and it was far above my expectations. The staff was courteous and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Very close to everything
- 5/5
Spent 6 days in D.C and we were able to walk or take the Metro everywhere from here. We are walkers so if you're not you may want to consider somewhere in central downtown, but it probably won't be as quiet or safe. If you stay here definitely go to Tatte for coffee and pastries.
- 3/5
Good value for money
- 5/5
Walking distance to some good restaurants and very helpful staff.
- 5/5
Older but well maintained. Staff was excellent, on site resturant average.
- 4/5
Conveniently located
- 3/5
Staff could friendlier and the room was good side it just needs some upgrades but the locations was good.
- 5/5
Rooms were lovely, staff was amazing… bed a little bit on the firm side for me but otherwise great!
- 5/5
I wasn't crazy about the $50 per night on site parking fee but it was better than the alternative. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was one of the best I have slept on. If you have any back issues this is the place to stay. 5 out of 5 for me. Staff was excellent. I'd stay here again!
- 5/5
It was convenient and close proximity to everything needed for this trip.
- 5/5
Great location and super friendly staff
- 5/5
Nice, off beaten path
- 5/5
The staff was great but need to learn about restaurants in the area
- 5/5
Wonderful hospitality
- 5/5
Muy Buen Hotel y buen servicio
- 4/5
Room was a very good size, but the kitchen needs updating. Bed was comfy and bathroom nicely updated.
- 5/5
The Garden Restaurant was lovely, the service wonderful, and the food was excellent.
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff.
- 3/5
Hotel is fine. Great location in Foggy Bottom. The hotel is very old, AC not very strong, lighting is awful. Room was renovated though, spacious and functional (albeit terrible flooring, lighting and air). If priced accordingly, it is an ok choice for a short stay. Hotel has two buildings - on E & F street. Buildings are connected via garage but helpful to know where room location is (for address/drop off).
- 5/5
The location was only 1/2 mile to the National Mall/Lincoln Memorial. We loved the spacious rooms with the kitchen. Beds were super comfortable. Staff very friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Plenty of room, has kitchen and walking distance to the Mall.
- 4/5
Conveniently located near the start of the C&O towpath for biking.
- 5/5
This property outside has been cleaned up since big DC cleanup. Its beautiful, lovely. comfortable place to stat in DC. Close to GW.
- 4/5
Everything was great except for the parking situation. Regardless, quiet and comfortable stay.
- 5/5
I like the layout of the rooms and how accessible everything is.
- 5/5
great
- 5/5
Very convenient to the monuments, museums, OAS & White House.
- 5/5
Close to the national mall. The parking is easy.
- 5/5
great location, and extremely nice staff!
- 4/5
Staff were very friendly attentive and professional. Very nice experience.
- 5/5
Had a great stay at the State Plaza! Staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean with comfy beds. Within easy walking distance to the National Mall. Would highly recommend!
- 4/5
Location to the Mall. Convenient.
- 4/5
Nice hotel, great location. AC was a little flaky, but overall it was a very comfortable stay
- 4/5
On the residential section of George Washington University.
- 4/5
Good location.
- 4/5
No snacks or soda, had to walk half a mile
- 2/5
Tv did not work. Curtain would not open /close
- 5/5
A great property at a very reasonable price. Had two days of meetings at 18th and C and am very pleased that I booked here. Even their small restaurant was excellent.
- 5/5
Clean, at walking distance to DC attractions.
- 4/5
Walkable to south end of mall. It was a quiet hotel, the bed was comfortable, with good amenities in room.
- 4/5
the building is a bit older but beyond a few daily repair needs was nice
- 5/5
confusing layout and older property... but nice hotel
- 5/5
Everything! We loved everything about our stay at State Plaza. We will be back! We can’t say enough good about our total Hotel experience!
- 5/5
Perfect location to visit all attractions in DC , friendly staff and very proffesional . the only problem is the hight cost of Parking $50./day ! which we were not even told about and just got cjharged . the room was exceptional with all needed and very clean
- 5/5
Great stay! Room was very clean. Great location and walkable to nearby attractions. Great price for a nice, clean place for a home base. The small kitchen area was great.
- 4/5
The location, friendliness of staff a d great price.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel. Great staff! Television reception was terrible. Do not plan on watching TV.
- 5/5
Stayed Aug. 31-Sept. 3. Weather couldn't have been any better. Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, and great location for a couple. 12 minute walk to the National Mall. We had enclosed parking on the ground floor. Appliances were on the low end but the only thing we used was the refrigerator to keep drinks cold. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Loved the size of our room and having a separate area to get ready from the bathroom
- 4/5
Location great for touring monuments. Loved room amenities, especially the kitchen and bathroom location. Doorman gave great directions and made sure cab was waiting for us. Restaurant convenient, but overpriced. Would happily stay again.
- 5/5
Great location. You can walk to the mall and museums. Nice restaurant on property. Parking can be a challenge. Great hotel. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Room is literally a one bedroom apt. Very spacious with kitchen and living room. Giving only 4 after bc the room service personnel came into our room twice without knocking...and not to clean the room. Very startling!
- 5/5
The rooms are excellent. The staff was amazing overall perfect experience. Will definitely recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Very convenient location. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Walking distance to the Mall and touristy locations. Really enjoyed our stay.
- 1/5
Beyond disappointed for the amount of money I spent. The bed was very uncomfortable It was like sleeping on a piece of wood with a piece of foam overtop, I go into the kitchen area and there are mouse droppings all over the floor.
- 4/5
Staff is nice. Hotel is clean, outdated though.
- 5/5
Excellent customer service
- 5/5
Great place glad it has a full kitchen. Good location.
- 4/5
Large room, GREAT STAFF very helpful.
- 5/5
Close to all required amenities.
- 5/5
Large room. Clean and comfortable. Hotel is in a quiet neighborhood close to GW with food options nearby. Recommend.
- 5/5
Although the facility is not grand or of the moment, the location was unbeatable for its proximity to my daughter’s college. Furthermore the staff were friendly, helpful and kind.
- 5/5
The staff were very helpful and kind. Great location near GW, metro, cafes and restaurants.
- 4/5
Location worked wonderfully but when you compare this area with many others, it was not as well kept & I’m referring to the litter, the park’s & pedestrian traffic.
- 5/5
I STAYED HERE MANY TIMES AND WAS NEVER DISAPPOINTED I LOVE THEIR BIG KITCHEN AND THE ROOMS ARE EXTREMELY SPACIOUS THIS TIME I HAD A ROOM WITH WITH THE SIT IN AREA THE COUCH PULLS OUT IF YOU NEED IT I HAD A BEAUTIFUL TIME AND AN AMAZING REST SURROUNDED BY 6 BIG PLUSH PILLOWS
- 3/5
Very convenient location for GW families. Room was very spacious, with a well equipped kitchenette. The room and property is a bit drab, with dark rugs, but generally comfortable. The pillows are very thick, and no alternative pillows are available, leaving me with a stiff neck each morning. The tub did not drain properly and I requested that maintenance take a look. Same issue the next day, water up to my ankles during a quick shower, so I guess they couldn't fix it. Staff was generally nice, however despite the fact that I requested a late check out and was told I could only have an additional half hour because they were very busy (this was enough for me), at 12:19 I received a call from the operations manager telling me that check out was at noon and I was late checking out. Once she allowed me to speak I explained that I had asked for a late check out and was given 30 minutes. She said that she had checked with the front desk and found no notes and had told staff not to allow any late check outs that day, implying that I was lying, then telling me I had 10 minutes to leave the room or she would charge me a late fee. As I was preparing to leave by 12:30 anyway, I grabbed my items and went to check out. I confirmed with the lady working the front that she had indeed given me a late check out. There honestly wasn't a need to threaten a charge or imply I was lying. Comfortable room, great location for me, but not sure if I'd stay there again.
- 5/5
The deluxe room is so spacious and there was a kitchen that I can cook. Facility was very clean even though it is not a new building. Staff was so nice and kind!!
- 5/5
Staff very helpful and frendly.
- 5/5
Everyone from the hotel was very nice and helpful.
- 5/5
Very spacious hotel room , walking distance to the Lincoln memorial. Also close to shops and cafes in Foggy Bottom
- 5/5
Spacious and quiet.
- 5/5
I’ve stayed at the State Plaza many times. The hotel is located in the Foggy Bottom area. A short walk to the monuments on the edge of GWU’s campus. The area is less crowded, convenient and safe feeling. The rooms are huge and comfortable. Everything is very clean, although I find the bathrooms may need a little touching up. Not a renovation, but just some aging that needs attention. The staff are always very nice and helpful. They have a paid underground secure self parking available.
- 5/5
Great hotel with a prefect locations!
- 5/5
Convenient area and lovely hotel.
- 5/5
The hotel was near The George Washington University and within walking distance to several restaurants and not far from several sites. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
It is in a great location to GWU and not far from Georgetown. I have stayed there several times and the room is always very clean and the staff helpful. However, each time I have stayed there for the same price the rooms vary i.e. a full kitchen to no refrigerator which is frustrating.
- 3/5
The staff was fantastic. The dead body found in the parking garage on the day we left was unsettling.
- 4/5
It was great, except they never followed up with the wifi issue. I called the help desk provider and nothing came of it. We couldn't connect to the internet on any laptop. We had to use our phone hotspots to work remotely.
- 5/5
Very clean and well kept. Bathroom lighting and mirrors are A+
- 4/5
I enjoyed my stay here, and would stay again if I were in DC. The hotel is in a very nice area, with plenty of nearby restaurants. It can be a bit confusing at first, there are two buildings, with different entrances on different streets. Once you get used to the layout it all makes sense though. The room was large and clean! The bath was well appointed and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet. The furniture is a bit dated, but was good quality. That’s really the only negative, though it didn’t bother me at all. I only mention it in case it is something that matters to the reader. Finally, the staff was friendly and helpful, especially the bell staff, they really went above expectations at times.
- 5/5
All around wonderful stay!
- 4/5
Great location
- 5/5
Great service and friendly staff. Clean and centrally located. Really enjoyed it. Price went up after check in, even though I reserved through hotels.com. Will find out why.
- 5/5
Oh, pay attention to where your room is. The hotel spans an entire block so where you arrive and leave and the location of your room are important to note.
- 5/5
Huge room with kitchen. Clean. Staff was very helpful.
- 5/5
Great place for affordable price! It’s an apartment.. full kitchen, spacious, comfortable bed, fluffy pillows, the best hot shower with strong water pressure. We walked from here to all of the monuments and memorials. The food downstairs was delicious and fresh!! All the staff from the front desk, to the cafe and even the parking assistant were friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Very comfortable.
- 5/5
This is my go to spot to stay in DC. It’s just a magical little place
- 5/5
Confusion finding my room with the 2 towers
- 4/5
Very good air conditioning. Parking was pricey but for the location its worth it. Very walkable area. pretty scenery.
- 3/5
The building is super old and the AC makes loud noise
- 5/5
I would definitely stay here again and even for a longer stay
- 5/5
The staff was incredibly friendly and very accommodating when we needed extra towels. The location was solid, not in the heart of the action with lots of people but in an area that was walkable to the attractions and places to eat or grab a drink. Parking was also solid. I'd definitely stay here again or recommend it to my friends when they visit DC. The value is great.
- 3/5
Parking $50 nights ! Breakfast not free !!!
- 4/5
We have stayed at this hotel twice already. The first time in 2023 and the second time in 2025. We really liked the hotel. Large clean rooms with all the necessary amenities, a kitchen in the room, a comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Close to the city center.
- 5/5
Overall great place for short stay!!!!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful, our room was really big and clean. They were very welcoming to my service dog.
- 5/5
Really like our bed. Slept like a baby
- 5/5
Almost every scenery building is in walking distance. Room is spacious and clean. If I come back to D.C., I absolutely will stay here.
- 4/5
It might be helpful to review the housekeeping process. Although daily housekeeping service is provided, I noticed a bit of litter from the previous day still on the floors of bedroom, bathroom and kitchen after cleaning.
- 5/5
This was just a nice place ...not the most wonderful place ever ...just nice ...one of our best hotel rooms ever really. Nice means we liked it
- 4/5
The beds were comfortable and felt clean and the shower had excellent water pressure. All the staff I encountered were very friendly. No rude staff in my experience. Also many hotels won't come clean your room if you're staying more than one day but this one cleans your room daily. If you are not super picky and just need a clean room to stay, you will be satisfied here. Can save some money by buying groceries and cooking your own food. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom were old and no fancy decor, but we still really liked our stay. Keep in mind though their parking is $50 per night.
- 5/5
Great location and great size room, very clean, full kitchen at a great price.
- 5/5
amazing space for sleeping, dining and makeup.near the state plaza, the George Washington university and White house and so on. it is convenient for walkcity
- 5/5
Thank you, everything was perfect.
- 3/5
the location is perfect.
- 5/5
This hotel was an excellent choice. The location was in a nice, quiet area near George Washington university nestled among dorm rooms. It was a 15 minute walk to national mall, the museums and monuments. It had a fully equipped kitchen and with a CVS nearby to get groceries , we cooked breakfast in the room. There is also a cute restaurant downstairs with great food. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and they even provide you with free water bottles. We will definitely be staying again!!
- 5/5
Convenient location, but not too many places to eat during our stay which happens to be a long weekend.
- 5/5
I have never stayed at a hotel like this one before. It truly felt like a blast from the past. The colors are muted, varying shades of white and grey everywhere. If you want a hotel with a modern design this is definitely not the place for you. Personally, I enjoyed it. I had a room with 2 beds and it was incredibly spacious. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo which came in handy for my young child that still loves baths, there was a vanity where you could get ready in the morning, a kitchen and dining area in the opposite side. You are provided with everything you might need for the stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking was easy for us to find. I would definitely recommend this place to others especially if you are doing an extended stay.

Very clean, great location and reasonable price
- 5/5
Very clean
- 4/5
The property was clean and located to many of the capitol attractions and restaurant.
- 5/5
Great Housekeeping, did not need to ask for any thing. Sheets were clean, toilet paper was refilled, etc. Great, quiet location close to monuments and museums.
- 3/5
Property doesn’t have adequate locks on doors and felt unsafe.
- 5/5
There was a good, cheaper parking garage about 3 blocks away.
- 5/5
Best night sleep at a hotel in a decade. I don’t usually sleep very well, and maybe I slept well because we walked all over DC, but the room was comfortable for the short stay we had
- 5/5
Great location, friendly and helpful staff and very clean
- 5/5
Only thing I didn't like was the view from our room was of an alley where the trash containers were and the garbage trucks collecting the trash would disrupt your morning sleep if you wanted to sleep late.
- 5/5
None
- 5/5
Loved the location! Very convenient to walk to many of the attractions we were interested in seeing!
- 5/5
All the staff are very cordial
- 5/5
Great property
- 5/5
The room was very large and the entire hotel was quiet. Did get lost when I went to breakfast, but one of the staff was leaving for the day and escorted me to where I needed to be. Went above and beyond their duties. Thank you.
- 5/5
This hotel, although dated in appearance, was extremely clean and very quiet! The staff were very helpful and kind. Our room had a small, convenient, kitchenette, which allowed for my nightly cup of tea, not made in a Kuerig machine! No complaints at all. We would stay here again without a doubt!
- 5/5
The property was well monitored to keep non-tenants out. I felt safe there. Personnel were attentive and friendly. The restaurant was well run and friendly. We had to leave one day early because our business was concluded early and we were not charged for the second day! Outstanding!
- 5/5
I didn't realize each unit had a kitchen! Will stay here again. Across the street from GW university dorms, so quite convenient if visiting campus.
- 5/5
convenient restaurant with great menu choices! Nice experience for DC hotel near Capitol - not airport hotel.
- 5/5
Great place to stay if you want to have fun in DC
- 5/5
Excellent location on a quiet street, spacious and clean room with comfortable bed, very friendly staff
- 4/5
Close to historic monuments. Good walking distance for sightseeing.
- 4/5
Good location for being in walkable distance of the Whit House. Situated in a very good area where George Washington University campus is
- 5/5
Very nice hotel with a perfect location. We were staying there for the second time. Everything is very clean. The room is comfortable, and you have all you need there. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
The location is very convenient and the property is very clean, the staff is very friendly.
- 5/5
Didn’t realize there was a kitchenette! Also liked the little space outside the bathroom. Very convenient snd surprisingly quiet
- 5/5
A mini suite room, I think it was, close to the Lincoln Memorial.
- 5/5
Muy bueno todo
- 5/5
I am going to stay here every time I come to DC now. Beautiful hotel and the in-house restaurant is delishious and well priced for the area.
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice Garden Café for breakfast.
- 5/5
Street parking. Lovely staff.
- 5/5
Came for a meeting nearby. Hotel staff are very friendly. The hotel is comfortable, rooms are large. The rooms are very dated and could undergo renovations, but overall a good experience and recommended

I was very pleased
- 4/5
It was great to have a private garage for parking, made me know my car was safe. Check in was easy, polite staff. The rooms are clean, only issue we had was with the air, couldn't seem to adjust settings, it was warm throughout the night with air on. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
On the positive side, the location is excellent—conveniently close to the monuments on the National Mall and downtown.
- 4/5
AC wasn’t working one night and still wasn’t great the second night. Parking price was hella steep as well compared to parking in the area. Restaurant was fine for breakfast but dinner wasn’t worth eating and the risotto tasted like rice a roni. Hotel bar isn’t open in the evenings either which wasn’t super convenient if you come back from a show or arrive later and want a drink. I’d stay here again but would plan differently for meals and would hope the AC issue wouldn’t take two days.
- 3/5
Quiet and comfy. Ni elevators on ground floor.
- 2/5
My air conditioning did not work the whole time I was there. Adjusting the thermostat did not turn on the AC, it took me a day to figure out that I had to turn on the AC at the wall unit (this is an ANCIENT system), then the useless fan ran and ran, but it did not cool. The front desk staff offered no compensation when I reported it at check out, they just said sorry and they would have the maintenance staff look at it.
- 5/5
The staff was helpful and very nice.
- 4/5
On a positive note, the location was convenient, which is why we chose this hotel.
- 5/5
Great DC hotel!!!
- 5/5
Excellent hotel! Nice staff and so clean!!!
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at State Plaza Hotel. Nothing fancy, but very clean and affordable. Conveniently located, within 15 minutes walk from the main attractions. Would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
it smells like old people and mold, the windows dont open very far, the ac was turing on and off all night and it was still very hot in the room, the tiny tv in the bedroom got all the channels but the signal was all static. The room and bathroom smells like mold , i think the health inspector should check out this place and shut it down
- 5/5
Hotel would be great for long-term stay as it has a full little kitchen with table for 2 to sit at. Room - especially heat/air conditioning - was dated but bathroom was retro but obviously redone and very clean and new. Great location. Plan to park elsewhere!
- 5/5
The location is outstanding, in a quiet and safe area bordering the GWU campus. It is probably the closest hotel to the Lincoln Memorial side, just a few minutes’ walk to the Vietnam Memorial. Plenty of good restaurants by GWU and the Foggy Bottom Metro. The hotel itself is very simple, with a small lobby, and a restaurant that looked good for breakfast though we didn’t try it. Our king room was very spacious like an efficiency apartment, with a full kitchen and dressing “vestibule” area. Note that the hotel has two identical buildings that connect at ground level, with one canopy entrance on E street and one on F street. I suspect you could actually check into either one?
- 5/5
My son and I had a great stay when visiting DC for the first time! Highly recommend 👍
- 5/5
Staying at the State Plaza was so nice!. It had a small kitchen that was cery nice if you plan to stay for days. It was my first time visiting Washington D.C. and hopefully it wont be my last time. The place very close to everything. Parking not so great!. $50 per night!!! It was nice, quiet and close to the white house.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and great location. Clean rooms and ultra comfortable beds.
- 5/5
Easy access to the Subway. 15 min walk. Buffet breakfast included in the price.
- 4/5
property js clean , nice, well equipped with microwave/refrid/etc, the tv is old/ like the 80s tv, the staff especially the guy name Patrick is not nice and not professional, everyone is ok, the parking $50 per day extra ( too expensive)
- 5/5
Nice staff personnel gave me directions about restaurants nearby. The place was clean. U also liked the idea of the kitchenette.
- 4/5
We ordered a room with two beds, but they didn't have any when we arrived. They upgraded us to a suite, which was really nice. The living room with a couch and two chairs and a TV, and a separate bedroom with a king bed. The problem was we wanted two beds, not a bed in a pull out couch.
- 5/5
Clean as a whistle and staff are very available and professional
- 3/5
Not terrible experience but not great either.
- 3/5
I appreciated the proximity to GW as we went for a visit. I didn't appreciate having to walk out of one building, through a parking lot and into a different building to access a bathroom. Hotels should be mandated to have a bathroom in the lobby and not in the next building.
- 5/5
Very clean establishment. The staff is very kind. All of them help one another.
- 4/5
Location was convenient for our purposes
- 5/5
Very friendly helpful staff. Location is perfect for seeing DC! Rooms were nice and bed was really comfy. Very quiet. Parking is expensive and limited at the hotel.
- 5/5
Clean and safe
- 5/5
I am so glad to have picked this facility. It provides the basics at a great rate compared to others in the area. check-in and check-out were easy. The room was comfortable and sufficient with a kitchen, microwave, and a stove to make your own tea. Best of all was the "location, location, location." It is walkable for our tour of the GW University Campus. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Though the buildings are split into north and south towers that was not an issue at all.
- 5/5
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was very large with a full kitchen! It is a walkable area and very quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. Only negative was finding the parking garage, but that’s more my fault than the hotel’s. Will definitely stay again!
- 5/5
Highly recommended, the room was spacious and everything was well cleaned. The area was quiet and the location was quite central.
- 5/5
Nice location
- 5/5
Convenient location. Room is clean and big.
- 5/5
Great location
- 3/5
When our plans changed and we needed to check out a day early, they added a "check out early" charge that was roughly equivalent to half of the daily rate. This was disappointing. Also after you check in, the elevators are located up 5 or so steps. The staff were not very helpful in helping with our baggage.
- 4/5
They should provide a small refrigerator to keep beverages and any food left over from eating out. Also tv was a little fuzzy on some channels and (this is pushing) but there should be some way to add a ventilation system to bathroom
- 5/5
Nice and clean rooms. Very convenient location and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Very nice and comfortable room.
- 5/5
Great budget stay. Had everything we needed. Safe neighborhood.
- 5/5
Then, it was "Cesar" who put the icing on the cake with help with parking and help to our room. With staff like this, you will always have repeat guests.
- 5/5
Great hotel, great reception area, room was big and clean
- 5/5
Staff is super accommodating and friendly
- 5/5
Staff were kind, hotel was pristine and updated. The bed was so comfy, and the sheets smelled so good too lol ... The room was spacious and had complimentary water bottles, which I appreciate a lot. Late check-out is nice too. The neighborhood is quiet if you're into that, I'd definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
We stayed in the hotel because of its proximity to GWU. The hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. Furnishings in the room are traditional not modern, but we loved the full kitchen and separate dressing room. It felt spacious for a hotel room in the city. The restaurant is smallish but the food is good and staff are very nice. Beds are comfy and it was very quiet. Walking distance from GWU and the national mall and close to great dining options.
- 5/5
It was amazing. The room was spacious for a family of 4. The staff were friendly and we felt welcomed. The hotel was walking distance to the National Mall and the White House. I plan to return soon and definitely plan to stay at this hotel.
- 5/5
Easy to walk everywhere.
- 3/5
The Hotel lobby and common areas were very well kept. Our room was average and needed repairs to cracked walls and there was mold in the shower as well. The TV was the first flat screen invented therefore the picture quality and connection was very poor. The best part of the stay was the staff they were very accommodating.
- 5/5
The room we stayed have no refrigerator. Other than that everything is good. The room is spacious, very clean, and quite. Me and my mim had a good time staying in here since its walkable to and from the beautiful tourist spots and restaurant in DC. I will come back and stay here again for spring festival vacation.
- 1/5
Bathroom was nasty, the toilet didn’t flush, the shower didn’t drain. I refused to use the shower and wore shoes in the bathroom. There is mold and mildew and i had an allergic reaction to the mold.
- 5/5
Cost, clean, hidden kitchen
- 3/5
Overall ok.
- 3/5
No ac, found old items under the bed and spiders throughout the room.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Parking was not on property but close-by and you had to pay $50/night. Reserve parking in advance. Overall we had a great stay and we were happy.
- 5/5
Great location, staff was extremely polite.
- 4/5
Great location very close to GW for our college visit, and comfortable room at a good value. It has a kitchen that we didn't use, but that seemed like a great perk if you are staying for a few days. The staff was helpful and kind as well
- 5/5
Everyone was very courteous and friendly especially the door man will definitely stay again
- 5/5
I got lost trying to find parking, my sister was at the hotel and the doorman helped get me back safely by giving me step by step directions and even went walking looking for me!
- 5/5
I love to stau here. The staffs are very friendly
- 4/5
I've stayed here before and noticed the suite we were given was smaller and had a mini fridge. Traveling with small children and needing to store their milk bottles and food was not going to work in such a small fridge so I appreciate the staff being able to change us to a different suite with a full size fridge and a larger bedroom and living room area. They were also able to supply us with a crib for the baby. The rooms were a bit cold and we were told at checkout that the system is AC only but they do have space heaters available. We wish we knew sooner so it could make bath time for the kids easier. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and I look forward to returning.
- 4/5
Even though the property was dated. The beds were comfy and having a full kitchen was nice. The staff was very helpful and we felt safe. The location was minutes away from most of the activities we experienced.
- 5/5
Very clean and definitely would come back
- 2/5
There was an animal scratching the wall at night sounded like a big rodent
- 5/5
Friendly staff
