At the entrance there is a sign stating the hotel is 100% smoke-free, yet as soon as I entered there was a strong smell of cigarette and marijuana smoke. My room did not have hand soap. The bottle that was provided was completely empty. Breakfast was a joke. These issues do not meet basic standards for cleanliness and guest experience.

I thought I was going to give this hotel a 4 stsr review until check out day. The room was clean with a comfortable bed, There was a microwave & refrigerator available although I didn't use them. The toilet was a slow flush and had to be flushed more than once. The carpet throughout the hotel was dirty and needed to be shampooed. Breakfast was mediocre. Something seemed missing but I could'nt quite figure it out. Maybe because there was no teabags and apple was the only fruit. I got a customer review form on arrival night which I filled out and offered a late checkout. I filled it out and put that I wanted a late checkout with a time of 12 noon. A little after 11am someone started knocking at the door. I ignored it at first. Then the knocking got louder and someone was trying to come in. So, I told the 2 women the room cleaner and the manager on duty( Noah )that I signed up for 12pm checkout. We repeated the conversation again-manager saying check out was 11 and me saying I had a late checkout of 12pm. Noah then told me to stay there till 12 noon would be $20. I said I wasn't paying $20 so I threw my last items in my purse and left. Now i don't where the breakdown in communication of checkout came from, but it made me take 2 stars off. I really would like to know why. Who offered me the late checkout? Did they not let Wingate know? Or does Wingate not allow late checkouts?

Hotel was clean, staff was helpful. Elevator was very slow, and there was only 1 ice machine on the 1st floor.

The day we had was last minute we actually booked somewhere else and they called two days before the trip so I was very grateful that the hotel we end up getting was available and still within the price range of the first hotel

The property was not ideal. The sink was located outside of our bathroom, which was odd. The water in the shower didn't stay warm very long. The fitness center is a little lacking. Only cardio equipment, very small, and was closed. The breakfast was not very good, but I did think the pancake machine was innovative. It was an okay place. The staff were great, though.

The room was clean and felt safe. The staff was very friendly. i would definitely stay again. Only con was our coffee pot was missing. We just went downstairs to get some freshly made and delicious coffee from the lobby.

There was no breakfast. There was a large group of students that had eaten everything.

There was someone else dirty towel hanging on the back of our bathroom door, a piece of trash in the corner like they never swept, and soap scum on the bathroom walls. Oh and we couldn’t get into our room with the key and had to go to the front desk three times for it to be corrected but staff was very kind

Room was too hot, bathroom door handle was broken, found a pill on the floor of our room, the elevator noise kept us awake all night,beds where uncomfortable and the shower drain wasn't draining enough.

The shower had luke warm water, the air conditioner would only work for a few minutes at a time leaving the room to warm to sleep comfortably and the tv quit working after 30 minutes. The staff was friendly.

Staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable, but it’s not a good experience. The hallways smell like pot, the AC unit was so loud that I could not hear the TV even when turned up all the way. The wall thermostat would not turn off the unit, so I had to unplug it to watch TV and sleep. The walls are extremely thin and we could hear the upstairs guests walking (jumping?) at an extremely loud volume. The toilet ran constantly and clearly needs its internals replaced. Breakfast was standard hotel budget fare. Your experience might be better, but I’m not returning.

The front desk staff had earbuds in talking to someone while checking us in. The water did not get warm to shower until 10 minutes after on! There is black mold in shower all around. The refrigerator was not cold at all- all my ice packs melted over night. I could have left in car would have been better. Beds are high- they were comfortable.

The room has very, dirty dated furniture full of scrapes and tears, wrinkled shower curtain, desk chair is filthy on the seat with most of the vinyl rubbed or torn off. Dog run area did not have waste bags as informed. I felt unsecure in the area the hotel is located and worried about our vehicle out there overnight where we couldn't keep an eye on it. seems high crime area.other furniture has gashes etc.

My first room had a broken heater , the staff was helpful and transferred me right away to another room . The second room had a broken toilet that was dripping and flushing all by itself . Again the staff was helpful , apologized and transferred me to another room . This room had its better day years ago . Dented light shade , scratched well worn table and TV bureau . The chair for the desk was DEPLORABLE and DISGUSTING and the shower had a broken temp regulator . The scrambled eggs were funny tasting , hard to explain . I'm on a road trip to California and my first 3 hotels were all good to great . I had nothing negative to say just good things. I'm sharing this so you don't think I'm just a complainer . If you are looking for a nice hotel to stay at , this isn't it !!!! I would not stay here again

We founf a roach by the microwave in 319, there was little rach in the microwave in the general food area. This was reported to the front desk attendant she gave me nice courtesy excuses and advised they pass their inspections.. my roommate.reported she found one in the room we were moved too room 315 by the bathroom sink.

I didn’t get to experience the room due to the fact the front desk people stated they didn’t have a room even though it said confirmed. I never received a refund as I was told . Attitudes were horrible.

The staff was very friendly and nice, both on the phone and in person, most of my grievances are with the building itself. For over $100 per night I think you can find something better in this area. Hope this helps! We only ended up staying for about 2-3 hours.

Just was not what I expected.

The room was very dirty. The bottom of my feet were black from walking around. It smelt awful and the parking lot was filled with trash and litter. Wouldn’t recommend.

Take your own tissues with you because ther e are none in room. Also I could not change the temperature on the wall thermostat. I could change the number to a different temperature but it automatically went back. And it was too warm this morning. The last thing I mention now is the shower curtain rod which was loose at both ends so it's sagged, which meant that the shower curtain couldn't be pushed all the way to the end and stay there. I finally had to get a wash cloth wrapped around the rod at the top and hold it so I wouldn't be pouring water out on the floor.

I liked that the there were no dog fees and staff was kind. I disliked the surrounding area due to criminal activities… however to counter that, there was a cop parked all night in the hotel parking. While checking out, there was an abandoned car and three patrol units investigating in the middle of the street. The area is criminally active, but I did not feel unsafe, but still something huge to note if you have kids.

Out so no new sheets or towels we had to go downstairs to get toilet tissue. The breakfast was awful they served the same sausage 3 day in a row and I’m not talking about the same kind of sausage, I’m saying it was the left over sausage from Friday to Monday and they looked unsafe to eat. I do not recommend this hotel not even to my worst enemy.

Room was very clean. The ceiling was pealing. The frond desk told us breakfast was till 10. When arriving at 9:15 the eggs were cold, the sausage wasn’t cooked through and we were told we should have arrived earlier.

The air wasn’t on when we got there and the room smelled pretty bad. Circulating air helped. Some of the furniture was ripped, scratched, and dusty. The smoke alarm was covered in plastic. The room was clean though. The bed was comfortable. There was not always hot water. We felt safe there. Staff was kind. We would consider staying again, but it wouldn’t be our first choice.

I didn’t like the area it was in whatsoever. The shower in my room didn’t get hot at all but it was too late to let staff know because by then it was time to check out. The beds was very comfortable considering I’m 7 in a half months pregnant. I didn’t like being rushed at checkout it was 12:02 and I’m literally walking out with my kids a lady standing there rushing me.

Had roaches

The room was quiet and comfortable. The staff was attentive enough. Even though native Memphians say this area is bad but I did not have any issues. The only thing that was a negative for me is that this was a prepaid stay with all fees included but when I got there there was an additional $100 deposit fee. So be sure to budget this into your visit. Overall great stay and the mini cinnamon rolls made my day.

Friendly staff and clean facility. Area around the hotel seamed a bit more sketchy than I would like but felt safe as soon as soon as I walked into the doors.

Pros: great continental hot breakfast, excellent cameras/ security in the parking lot (felt comfortable leaving all of our stuff in the truck) nice size rooms. Cons: the hotel is in the middle of updates, the fitness center was closed and the ice machine on our floor was out of service. Our first room’s sheets were old. A quick trip to the front desk and had a new room right away with zero hassle. The front desk clerk was extremely apologetic and worked fast to correct the situation. Thank you for that.

I didn't like the surprise 100 dollar deposit that I had to paid on top of my stay. The parking lot is tight, no room for 2 cars to pass each other in the front. The room was clean but could have been cleaner, paying closer attention to the corners. The outside of the elevators and around the door downstairs needs a little cleaning also. The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a baby. Breakfast only had one meat which was pork sausage so i had toast with jelly since the gravy had pork in it also. The pancake maker is cool for kids since they can watch it being made and cooked. The dining area tables and floors are really pretty. The seats were comfy. The vending machines and the gym were out of order so that sucked but surely they'll be in running order by the time I come back. It's closer to alot of food places. I would definitely stay again.

The lobby area is beautiful. The front desk personnel were very friendly and efficient. The room was ok at best. The pics showed a nice chair in the room which we like to have. We had an empty space there instead. The ‘gaming’ chair at the desk was disgusting. It was terribly stained, the fabric was peeling off. If you even touched it the black peeled off. No one can sit in a chair like that. So not what we expected from the advertising pics. I wouldn’t stay there again.

What I didn't like, was the gym was out of order, cleaning staff was non existent.

Say 2.5/3 star maybe. Furniture was old with marks all over it. Mold on the ceiling. I had stains on my top cover. Workout room was out of order the whole time. Breakfast included a pancake making machine, biscuits (hard) n gravy, eggs (scrambled), sausage (I needed mine cooked longer), toast, bagel and cereal. Juice machine (some spots out of order). And I had an extra fee for each room I reserved. It was the best hotel on the block, but WASN’T what I thought a 4/5 star hotel would be. BUT booking on hotels.com has been easy and helps with the discounts. I will continue to use the app, just maybe not that hotel.

This was a very quiet hotel. The room was very nice and very clean. The room was spacious with a microwave, fridge and a coffee pot. The hotel had washer and dryer if you need to wash your clothes. IThe hotel is about 15 minutes from downtown Memphis. There is breakfast evey morning. There was no pool in case you eant to swim.

Run down property in a dirty unsafe looking neighborhood. Building in poor condition except for the lobby area. I guess they want to make a good impression, but the hallways and rooms are in poor repair.

I was disappointed by the lack of cleanliness from a plumbing system issue that left the bathtub covered with copper residue. I requested someone come and check it out and it escalated the entire situation.

Bad neighborhood. The actual hotel as fine, But their was hookers walking in front and drugies a half a block down the street. They did have overnight security and nothing happened.

I love this place

The staff were pleasant. Maintenance was sent to try and address issues that had been ignored (door not closing correctly and toilet running.) The room had long black hair in the bathroom and the wash area both days. My hair is short. The elevator was very slow and the common areas were dirty above first floor. The outside driveway is in horrible condition and in need of repair. No reviews identified that a correctional facility was right around the corner. The people walking or standing outside the hotel at all hours of the night looked like they may have been working in those locations. I understand the need for the 7 foot tall security guard and was glad he was there

Generally speaking the room was good. However, the chair for the desk looked like a beat up gaming chair someone grabbed from the curb - not cool! There was a VERY loud car outside about 11:00 - might hv been in property next door but it was LOUD. Kind of a scary area but the facility was fine. Update the restaurant listing as Ruby Tuesdays is permanently closed.

Room was without hot water for showering staff did nothing to help lots of vagrants and others walking around all night long several loud arguments in the parking lot.

Very nice personnel, clean rooms. Didn’t have time to partake of the breakfast so can’t speak on it. Shampoo, conditioner body wash and lotion is provided.

It was only one night, but I’m happy the check in was fast and simple. The rooms were spacious and clean for the most part, but we did have hair left in the tub. The views aren’t scenic and there’s no pool, but for a couple days it’s good and the staff is really nice.

I've stayed at this location numerous of times it's only the comfort of the room I love for me and my kids, with that being said the front desk host are terribly rude. My last stay while I was eating breakfast with my girls the front desk host came to me out of every one in the area and asked if I had a room there, an yes I think it' was because of my skin complexion with 95% of the guest being white. That was very despicable, disgrace to my race an hers with her being Indian, they should learn how to treat people. I stay there 4 nights that week n half of the people there was leaving the same day. An this time I didn't get any room service an I stayed 3 nights. I got fresh towels for 2 days after that I seen no one else. My last stay I got room service an fresh linen everyday. I had bought sea food my first night there imagine that being in the room for 3days. Terrible experience an I love the hotel because it's very clean.

Ok for emergency stay I live in Memphis and I know the area is not the safest they do have security shower water could be hotter customer service is what I look at and it was ok notice clerks are much friendlier to some races…sadly this is Memphis breakfast was ok coffee was not good at all

Everything was great except for the breakfast. The hot items were not hot and the biscuits were hard. Also, this place is not in a very safe area. Overall, though, it was great for the price.

Clean and helpful

Breakfast is served from 6am to 9am. We went down at 8am and there were no pastries, no gravy, no biscuits. Informed the front desk and they told us to let the person know in the staff room located next to food area. The lady was not happy was us for interrupting her while on her cell phone. It took her about 5 minutes to finally bring out 6 mini cinnamon rolls. Another 5 minutes to bring out a cup full of gravy and then another 5 minutes to bring out 4 biscuits. By this time there were another 6 people waiting. I hate to keep complaining about breakfast but the coffee had no flavor. Had to go to Macdonald's to get coffee....

There were dirty marks on our walls, the hallway smelled awful of pot. The elevator door was filthy. There were flies in the bread bin at breakfast.

This is the best pet friendly hotel we have encountered. Clean comfortable and easy access.

Quiet. Comfortable beds. Great shower pressure. Water massage setting on shower head actually performed extremely well unlike most any other hotel I’ve ever stayed in. PETS STAY FREE!!! I will stay here again when in this area.

The shared areas looked to be renovated recently and the floors so clean in the breakfast area it had a mirror shine. Breakfast was almost identical to what is offered at a Holiday Inn Express and great. The room had newer carpet and tile and the things that one would care about looked newer. Bed was comfortable with really soft sheets. AC was quiet and cold. The only thing that wasn’t updated was the shower and looked dated, but it was spotless. Clean place, great price, and very well lit parking lot (like daylight bright) to compensate for the neighborhood.

The staff at the property were very polite and helpful. The facilities were clean. However, the area around the hotel felt unsafe, and our Uber driver who dropped us off tried to get us to cancel our reservation and stay somewhere else. Everything is fine inside the hotel, but I would not walk to any nearby businesses, including the gas station next door.

When we first walked in the lobby the smell of bleach was in the air. It smelled and looked amazing. The front desk lady was so nice when she was checking us in. The room was clean and smelled great. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. I slept like a baby. The breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay and we will come back.

I requested a handicapped room and upon arrival the front desk clerk said there wasn’t anything in her notes. She provided an alternative but the room had the smell of pets. Opted to go to an upstairs room. There was blood on the bathroom wall (which I showed the maid and the on duty front desk clerk. The maid apparently didn’t speak English and thought I didn’t want my room cleaned .

Property was fine. Front desk excellent. Im mad at Expedia right now because i had to pay here in cash after Expedia took the money for the room from my account a week ago but motel could NOT get themoney. Motel canceled my reservation so that I could pay cash. I AM NOT HAPPY!!

The property was clean. The staff was nice. Unfortunately, the bathroom door was broken. It wouldn't stay latched. I had to put towels against it to keep it closed. The shower handle wasn't quite broken, but getting there. Other than that though, it was clean and quiet. I didn't mind having my kids there.

This place could use a thorough cleaning, cabinets and headboard are dirty as well as dresser face. Just about every furnishing is damaged a scuffed and scraped dirty and peeling. I took video of the condition I received the room. It will do for the night but I will most likely not return and definitely have overpaid. The front desk people were nice.

Room and building looked nice in the room the office chair was a torn apart, used, dirty gaming chair. we ordered pizza to the room, and not even 20 min after it was put away, we had ants, and speaking of which we were on the 3rd floor!!!!!! and for the price I paid the breakfast option was terrible.

My favorite thing was the online check in process where I was able to provide my ID pictures and card info so it saved a lot of time when we arrived.

The place has a lot of damaged things inside

I’ve stayed at a lot of murdery “hotels” over the years but this one was by far the weirdest yet. Bad part of town, fenced in parking lot next to lots more shady hotels (this was the nicest of them all, gotta give them that), but I couldn’t walk the dog anywhere, there were all sorts of weird things happening right outside, and private security SUVs were in and out of all the parking lots from dusk to dawn. Also, stuff in the room didn’t work, but honestly, just don’t stay there based on location alone.

Staff was great, but it changed when I asked to be switched to another room because beds were too small. New room had a leak in the toilet, kept making sounds of filling tank, then fridge was making sounds constantly.
